Galway Streets

Wonderfully planned and executed trip. Our tour director was a gem and looked after us as if we were in her own family. Lots of good, first hand info, including her native experiences growing up and raising her family. She did poetry readings, wonderful Irish stories and sang a song or two, all seemingly by memory.

The tour was great- there was plenty of time for ourselves balanced with the tour itself. The driver and moderator were fantastic. I loved every minute.

CIE Tours Customer

Great irish tour.

Loved the Titanic museum, the Killarney National Park jaunting car ride through the park, local guides who lived through the "troubles" and able to give a personal sense of Ireland's tragedy, Waterford factory tour, the Sleah Head tour and Dingle, the sheep dog demonstration and the weaving demonstration.

I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in a fast paced, comprehensive tour of the coast of Ireland.

Absolutely fantastic tour! A must tour for first time visitors to Ireland

It was a very well organized tour! Our tour guide was a wealth of information.

Experience a rich and overlapping history, told from three singular perspectives. Three distinct outlooks, three separate national identities — one friendly welcome. Our small groups guarantee Never more than 26 guests per tour

We always keep our tour group sizes small. That's because we want every guest to get the comfort, space and service they deserve. Although many other companies squeeze in groups of up to 50, even the largest of our tour packages are strictly limited to just 26 guests. That leaves empty seats on the coaches. So why do we limit our tours to such small group sizes? Here are six reasons.

Superior Service

Guests consistently list our small group sizes as a top reason why they would book with us again. See our reviews...

More focus on you

With a smaller group, our tour guides have more time to get to know you and your interests.

We deliberately leave empty seats on our coaches, so you can relax and spread out.

Experience each attraction up-close and personal, with more time to ask questions and see what interests you.

Speedier Check-Ins

Compared with many of our rivals, our smaller group sizes make checking in and out of the hotels a breeze.

More Relaxed Pace

Experience Ireland at your own pace. No rushing to keep up and no waiting around for large groups to assemble.

7-Day Ireland to Island Small Group Tour of Ireland

I have never been on a bus tour before but the amazing experience I had under the guidance of Finn made the whole adventure something l will be talking about to everyone in Australia . Finn didn’t have to sell Ireland to me, this country is beautiful through photos, film, documentaries and had me wanting to come. What Finn did though his passion and love brought knowledge of the highest level. Any experience he offered us he would always make us aware of the best photo opportunity or take it for us. He advised us on music and food suggestions, that never let us down. The thing I found most valuable was his awareness of each travelers’ needs and always made our safety the utmost importance. I adventured out of my comfort zone and did this knowing I felt very safe because of Finn’s good advise, this allowed me to get the full experience available to me though Overland Ireland Tours…Skellig Michael steps, kayaking or biking riding the Aran Islands memories that will last forever with me.

Best of Ireland (10 Days)

It was fantastic! Our Travel Manager, James Creegan was excellent. He kept us ontrack the whole tour. Love his accent. Its obvious he is from Dublin. His knowlege of places, history, people, music was outstanding. He took us to a couple places off the beaten which I appreciated very much. We met some nice locals which made the experience even better. I would love to go on another of his tours again! Kris was a great tour bus driver. He made it into places I didn't think possible. He got us to our destinations safely. He and James, are very nice guys. I would go anywhere with James and Kris. I have dreamed about coming to Ireland all my life. This tour met and exceeded my expectations.

Best of Ireland – Our friends recommended Trafalgar and it didn’t disappoint! We had a wonderful experience touring all over Ireland. We also had our wedding anniversary and Trafalgar bought a nice present for us. Liam, our tour director, was knowledgeable about every place we were visiting and passing through. He had a wonderful sense of humor and kept the group engaged at all times. We had a great environment. Shane, our driver, made us feel safe throughout the entire trip. Our favorite part of the tour was the Cliffs of Moher! All the extra activities were ideal to know more about Ireland’s culture and history. We had wonderful weather and we were able to enjoy Ireland’s beautiful scenery the utmost.

Irish Elegance (Classic, 8 Days)

What a fantastic vacation! The tour itself was perfectly paced and the combination of little details such as the flourishes and time with local experts and the grand finale stay at Ashford Castle made this an unforgettable experience. Ann was an amazing tour director - organized, professional and always willing to go above and beyond - and our coach driver Michael was a pleasant, jovial fellow that exemplified perfectly the friendly spirit of the Irish people. Truly a wonderful experience!

What people love about Ireland Tours from Dublin

Small Bus touring is the way to go!
This was my first time in Ireland. I absolutely loved everything about this trip. Tour guide and bus driver were amazing. Totally worth every penny. Would go back in a heartbeat
The entire trip was wonderful, very well organized, and satisfying. Peter Flood was an excellent tour guide. He was as knowledgeable as could be, funny, and helpful; and really seems to love what he does.

13 Best Day Trips from Dublin (Tried + Tested for 2024)

By Author Keith O'Hara

13 Best Day Trips from Dublin (Tried + Tested for 2024)

In this guide, you’ll find 1, the best day trips from Dublin for those of you with a car and 2, some great day tours from Dublin for those of you without a car .

While there are plenty of things to do in Dublin , it’s well worth exploring the wealth of attractions that lay a short distance away.

And, although the likes of Wicklow tends to be the ‘go-to’ of the Dublin day trips, there’s plenty more on offer!

Below, you’ll find organised Dublin day tours for those of you looking for someone else to do the driving and some mighty day trips from Dublin for those of you with a car.

Table of Contents

The best day trips from Dublin by car

If you’re driving, there’s countless places to visit near Dublin by car, once you know where to look.

Below, you’ll find the ‘old favourites’ like Glendalough and Newgrange, but you’ll also find some often missed Dublin day trips, like the Cooley Peninsula and more.

1. Wicklow (55-minute drive)

Glendalough walks

Photos via Shutterstock

Also known as the ‘Garden of Ireland’, Wicklow is one of the best day trips from Dublin for good reason! Well-known for its outstanding natural beauty, the county is blessed with glittering lakes and monastic villages and ruins.

I’ve been taking half day trips from Dublin to Wicklow for years and the itinerary that I tend to use is this one:

  • Head to Glendalough, first, as the car park can be a pain
  • Pick one of the Glendalough walks , e.g. the Spinc Loop
  • Get a post-hike lunch at the brilliant Wicklow Heather
  • Head up and do the Sally Gap Drive
  • Stop at Lough Tay , Ballinastoe Woods and Glenmacnass Waterfall

If you’re looking for slightly different Dublin day trips, tackle one of the longer Wicklow walks over the course of a morning and afternoon!

2. The Cooley Peninsula (1.5-hour drive)

Carlingford Town

Photos by Tom Archer via Tourism Ireland

The Cooley Peninsula is one of the more overlooked Dublin day trips. There’s plenty of things to see and do here and there’s a clatter of great places to eat.

Depending on whether or not you want to include a hike in your trip, here’s a suggested itinerary:

  • Pick a walk (options – Ravensdale Forest Walk , Annaloughan Loop Walk or the Slieve Foye Loop )
  • Spin into the town for breakfast/lunch (Liberty Cafe and Ruby Ellen’s are solid options)
  • Take a tour of the castle or rent a bike and spin along the Carlingford Greenway)

There are heaps of other things to do in Carlingford if the options above don’t tickle your fancy!

3. Meath (35-minute drive)

Trim Castle

County Meath is another of the best day trips from Dublin by car. It’ll take you around 35 minutes by car to reach and there’s an endless number of things to do in Meath to keep you busy.

If you’re looking for a day-out in the Boyne Valley, here’s a mini itinerary to tackle:

  • Book tickets for Newgrange in advance and do the tour
  • Grab lunch in nearby Inside Out in Slane
  • Take a ramble around the trails in Slane Castle
  • Visit the ancient Old Mellifont Abbey

Or, of you fancy seeing more of Meath, check out the Hill of Tara , one of the most important archaeological sites in the country or Trim Castle , the best-preserved of the many Anglo-Norman castles in Ireland .

4. The Mournes (2-hour drive)

Tollymore Forest Park

One of the more impressive places to visit near Dublin by car are the Mourne Mountains in County Down.

Now, you’ll need to do a bit of planning if you opt for this Dublin day trip, as there’ll be a fair bit of walking involved.

If you’re visiting the area for the first time, I’d  strongly  recommend heading into Tollymore Forest Park (above) and then heading for lunch in Newcastle followed by a stroll on the beach.

Or, if you fancy a hike, there’s  heaps  of Mourne Mountain walks to tackle, like the tough Slieve Donard hike .

5. The Ring of Gullion + Newry (1.5-hours)

Cloughmore Stone

© Tourism Ireland photographed by Brian Morrison

One of the best day trips from Dublin that’s very regularly overlooked is the trip that takes in both the Ring of Gullion and a glorious corner of Rostrevor.

Start your road trip with the Slieve Gullion Drive or walk, depending on how you’re feeling (the walk is steep). Head into nearby Gather and Brew after for a bite-to-eat!

When you’re ready, take the spin out to Kilbroney Park – it’s here that you’ll find the Cloughmore Stone and the aptly named Kodak Corner.

If you’re looking for day tours from Dublin with plenty of walks, this one is hard to beat!

6. Kilkenny ( 1.5-hour drive)

Kilkenny Castle

Another of the best day trips from Dublin is Kilkenny. Now, while there are  plenty  of things to do in Kilkenny , many people make the mistake of think that there’s only the castle.

Head for the supposedly haunted Dunmore Cave , first, and take the tour. Then spin into the city and you have everywhere from the Smithwick’s Brewery and the castle to the Medieval Mile to choose from.

Food wise, there’s plenty of options in the city. If you need a reccy, both foodworks and Aroi Asian Fusion are worth a bash. Round off your day with a visit to Jerpoint Abbey .

7. Options that require 2.5-hours+ driving

Legnabrocky Trail

Although we’ve tackled several places to visit near Dublin by car above, there’s endless day tours from Dublin if you’re open to driving a bit further.

One of the more popular road trips from Dublin is to Cuilcagh (above) in Fermanagh. It’s around a 2.5-hour spin.

If you’re not afraid of a bit of driving, you could visit Waterford ( Coumshingaun Lough’s a tough but rewarding hike), Wexford and plenty more.

The best day tours from Dublin (organised / guided tours)

The second section of our guide is for those of you without a car and it contains a handful of carefully selected half day tours from Dublin with great reviews online.

If you don’t fancy taking an organised tour, we have a guide to some great day trips from Dublin by train , too.

Note: if you book a tour through one of the links below we  may make a tiny commission that helps us keep this site going. You won’t pay extra, but we really do appreciate it.

cliffs of moher at sunset

I’m going to kick things off with arguably one of the best day tours from Dublin when it comes to reviews (it has 4.8/5 from 8,900+ reviews at the time of typing).

The question is what to do after Dublin. There is no small group tour that meets the days and times we are there except a train tour offered by Railtours that take us to a couple of the key areas and back to Dublin where we leave from. We are considering one of those tours.

Or should we train ourselves to either Galway or Killarney or another town for a couple nights and do day trips. I appreciate the help! Thank-you

Any help with this would be very much appreciated.

When you buy through our links, Business Insider may earn an affiliate commission. Learn more

Country star Morgan Wallen is continuing his tour throughout 2024, and tickets to his upcoming concert dates are getting snatched up quickly. While the One Night at a Time tour is already well underway, there are still a few avenues to check when it comes to how to get Morgan Wallen tickets for his 2024 concerts.

Morgan Wallen began the 2024 branch of his One Night at a Time World Tour, which includes 29 shows across North America, back in April. This leg of the tour was already extended from his hit 2023 concert series of the same name, which saw the country star perform 57 shows across five countries. Now, Wallen is extending his 2024 One Night at a Time tour with six new dates added for the European leg, bringing the total to 25 shows for this year's concert tour extension.

Given Morgan Wallen's recently released new track with Post Malone, "I Had Some Help," the setlist for his remaining 2024 concert dates could be a bit different from his 2023 shows. Of course, the various setlists for his One Night at a Time 2024 tour will likely still include hits such as "Whiskey Glasses," "One Thing at a Time," and "You Proof."

We've got you covered if you're looking for ways to buy tickets to Morgan Wallen's 2024 concert tour. Here's our breakdown of the One Night at a Time 2024 tour schedule, purchasing details, and price comparisons for original and resale tickets. You can also browse ticket and concert specifics at your leisure on Vivid Seats and StubHub .

Morgan Wallen 2024 tour schedule

Morgan Wallen has 28 concert dates still remaining on his 2024 world tour. While 21 of these shows will take him across more cities in North America, seven of them will occur in Europe. As of right now, Wallen will take his final bow of the One Night at a Time 2024 World Tour in Dublin, Ireland, on September 24. The table below shows the cheapest available tickets on Vivid Seats and StubHub at the time of writing. All concert times are listed in local time zones.

How to buy tickets for Morgan Wallen's 2024 concert tour

You can purchase original tickets to Morgan Wallen's 2024 concert tour on Ticketmaster. However, original tickets to his remaining shows in North America are now limited.

Tickets to Morgan Wallen's One Night at a Time 2024 tour are also available from verified resale vendors such as Vivid Seats and StubHub . With a dwindling number of standard original tickets, you may find better luck with seating variety and price options on these resale sites.

Tickets to Morgan Wallen's six new European tour dates in 2024 go on sale on May 16 at 11:00 a.m. GMT on Ticketmaster. However, the presale for his Glasgow and Dublin shows started on May 14 at 11:00 a.m. GMT, with the general sale scheduled to begin on May 16. Ticketmaster is limiting the number of tickets one can purchase at a time to six tickets per person.

How much are Morgan Wallen tickets?

Compared to similar acts currently touring, Morgan Wallen tickets are relatively expensive. Of course, ticket prices for Morgan Wallen's 2024 tour vary depending on date, location, and demand for each show. The cheapest available standard original tickets for Morgan Wallen start at $116 for his July 19 show in Charlotte, NC. However, verified resale tickets to see the country star are typically comparable or less expensive than standard original tickets.

On StubHub , the least expensive tickets for Morgan Wallen's 2024 concert tour range from $75 in Ridgedale, MO, on May 25 to $224 for a general admission ticket to his Gulf Coast Jam festival show in Panama City Beach on June 2. Springsteen in ireland: we want to hear about your experience of seeing the boss perform on his irish tour.

Bruce Springsteen rocks up to Croke Park on Sunday, May 19th, for the final date on his four-concert tour of Ireland. Over the three gigs to date, Springsteen and the E Street Band have enthralled and surprised fans in equal measure.

It seems like an age since he took to the stage in spectacular fashion at Boucher Playing Fields in Belfast , which our reviewer described as an “immense show” .

The Boss kicked off at a damp and wet Páirc Uí Chaoimh , Cork , on Thursday evening with a cover version of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s Who’ll Stop the Rain, before leaving almost everyone in the 40,000-plus crowd a little teary eyed by closing with a cover of The Pogues’ Rainy Night in Soho, in tribute to the late Shane MacGowan . In between, he played several songs suggested by members of the crowd holding placards, including Santa Claus Is Comin’ to Town.

Last Sunday night at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny , Springsteen also played a passionate rendition of A Rainy Night in Soho. Fans told The Irish Times it was a “performance full of emotion and genuine warmth” and “a phenomenal and incredible evening” .

Freehold delegation visits Ireland while Springsteen playing Cork, Dublin

3 minute read.

tours of dublin ireland

Bruce Springsteen isn't the only one from Freehold in Ireland this week.

A delegation of more than a dozen from the borough, including Mayor Kevin Kane, will visit the town of Rathangan, Kildare, the ancestral home of several Freehold residents, including Bruce Springsteen, as the Boss performs shows in Cork on Thursday, May 16, and Dublin on Sunday, May 19.

The Freehold delegation, there to ratify a Twin City resolution between Freehold and Rathangan, will attend the Sunday show at Croke Park in Dublin.

“Long story short, Bruce Springsteen is the connection here,” said Kane at the March 18 Freehold Borough Council Meeting, where a resolution was passed to "twin" with Rathangan. “His great-great-grandmother came from Rathangan in 1852. It's a tremendous story.”

That would be Ann Garrity from his father's side of the family. Glenn Cashion, Springsteen's cousin and Freehold native, was part of a Freehold group who welcomed a delegation from Rathangan in March.

The visitors took part in several events and marched in Freehold's St. Patrick's parade.

“The delegation from Rathangan were overjoyed with what they saw in Freehold, tracing Bruce's youthful endeavors in his various homes, and going to Asbury Park and seeing that part of the scene — as well as marching in the Freehold St. Patrick's Day parade,” said Cashion, author of “Baseball Is In My DNA: A History of Baseball in Freehold, New Jersey 1857-1973.

“I think they were overwhelmed, to tell you the truth. They were really happy with it — it was glorious.”

Several members of the delegation spoke at the March 18 meeting.

“We are so grateful for the fabulous weekend,” said Sheila Knightly. “We were so well looked after — we had the best time.”

John Grimes, also from Rathangan, liked what he saw in Freehold.

“Everything that should be in place seems to be in place and everything that's not is place is getting looked after,” said Grimes to the Asbury Park Press. “It's very enlightening for me. I'm involved in local politics myself in Ireland and it's great to see the process of the meeting. We've enjoyed our stay.”

Kane, Cashion and other members of the delegation will participate in a copper beech tree planting ceremony on Saturday in Rathangan. Family lore tells of Gerrity bringing a young copper beech tree from Rathangan and planting it beside the Springsteen family home at 87 Randolph St. in Freehold.

“In our front yard, only feet from our porch, stands the grandest tree in town, a towering copper beech,” wrote Springsteen in his memoir, “Born to Run.” “On sunny days, its roots are a fort for my soldiers, a corral for my horses and my second home.”

The massive tree was taken down by the borough around 2009. The house was previously demolished to expand the St. Rose parking lot.

Springsteen, 74, made a surprise visit to the Creative Performance Academy in Kildare when the E Street Band played Ireland last May. A singing group composed of 12-year-old boys were rehearsing, and the Boss took pictures with them. He also visited the Burrow, a pub in Rathangan, where he led the ladies of the town in an a cappella version of his 1984 hit, “My Hometown.”

Springsteen paid tribute to late Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan at the E Street Band's  May 12 concert at Nowlan Park in Kilkenny, Ireland. They began the show with a cover of the Pogues’ 1986 song “A Rainy Night in Soho.”

MacGowan passed away Nov. 30 at age 65 after a long illness. Springsteen visited MacGowan when he was in Ireland last May.

Girls Aloud kick off reunion tour in Dublin with emotional tributes to late bandmate

Girls Aloud Kick Off Reunion Tour In Dublin With Emotional Tributes To Late Bandmate

By Ellie Iorizzo and Aisling Grace, PA

Girls Aloud have performed the first night of their reunion tour, honouring late bandmate Sarah Harding.

Nadine Coyle, Cheryl, Nicola Roberts, and Kimberley Walsh appeared on stage to a delighted audience, 30 minutes later than scheduled due to “Dublin motorway closures”, standing on individual podiums singing opening track Untouchable.

The tour has been dedicated to Harding, who was diagnosed with cancer and died in September 2021 aged 39.

During the show, the foursome performed a duet with Harding, whose vocals to song I’ll Stand By You played as the group sang along live on-stage, in videos circulating on social media.

They later performed one of their biggest bits, The Promise, as the four women stopped and turned their backs to the audience to watch a screen play footage of Harding singing the song on her own.

A post on the official Girls Aloud X account said: “Show 1 done. Dublin you were absolutely INCREDIBLE. What a start to the #TheGirlsAloudShow tour.”

The singers won Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 and formed Girls Aloud, going on to achieve four UK number one singles and a Brit award for track The Promise.

They reunited with new music for their 10th anniversary in 2012, while a second reunion was planned for their 20th anniversary when Harding was diagnosed with cancer.

Less than an hour before their expected arrival at the 3Arena in Dublin, the group issued an “updated stage time” on X.

It said due to “Dublin motorway closures”, the foursome would arrive 30 minutes later than expected at 9.15pm.

Despite the unexpected changes, fans including Aaron O’Regan, based in Waterford, Ireland, told the PA news agency: “I’m really excited for it!

“My boyfriend got us tickets last year for our first anniversary so it’s going to be a great night.

“We love Girls Aloud, it’s fantastic to see them back together again and touring.

“My boyfriend even got us T-shirts for tonight, it’s going to be so fun!”

Ahead of the show, a post on the official Girls Aloud X account said: “Rehearsals? Done. Choreography? Ready. Outfits? Fitted. Girls? Aloud.

“…We’ve been working so hard to make this show special for all of you.”

After two back-to-back opening nights in Dublin’s 3Arena, Girls Aloud will play two concerts at the SSE Arena in Belfast on Monday and Tuesday, before heading to the Manchester AO Arena from Thursday to Saturday.

In November, the group had to add six extra dates to their UK and Ireland 2024 arena tour due to “unprecedented demand” following ticket pre-sales.
