BEHEMOTH’s NERGAL Speaks On What It’s Like Touring With SLIPKNOT

Nergal Corey Taylor

In a recent interview with Ultimate-Guitar.com , BEHEMOTH mastermind Adam “Nergal” Darski talked about touring with SLIPKNOT , discussing what Corey Taylor and rest of the band were like on the road.

When asked on what it was like to tour with SLIPKNOT , Nergal responded: “Well, maybe one of the best tours ever. First of all, on a personal level, they’re amazing, very helpful, you know — Corey Taylor would be so nice. He sang on the ME AND THAT MAN album [on the ‘How Come?’ song in 2020] and that was beautiful of him doing that, and he did a fantastic job.

“I’m friends with all of them — I mean, some are quite secluded, they stay away from crowds and parties, but [bassist Alessandro Venturella ] V-Man is always there to get into trouble. Jay [ Weinberg ,] the drummer, is f*ckin’ the nicest dude out there. Corey ‘s, you know, amazing… And like, really, each one of them — and [percussionist Shawn Crahan ] ‘Clown’ — there’s not enough compliments that I can say about how well it went.

“We were treated with the utmost respect,” he continued. “That was the highest-paid tour we’ve ever got, and they did that because they really wanted to bring the best out of us. So, it’s not one of those bands where they’re like, ‘We’re gonna make SLIPKNOT look better than you, we’re gonna make you guys look like some unimportant band from ex-Soviet Union or whatever.’ No. No. They’re like, ‘Hey, we’re paying you more than what you usually get, but please, make sure you impress the f*ck out of the crowd.’ And we’re like, ‘You bet we will!’

“So, I’m extremely grateful for what SLIPKNOT did to us,” Nergal added. “It was game-changing, it really gave us so much. Every other person I talk to that’s from Europe or the U.S. goes, ‘Man, I saw you for the first time on the SLIPKNOT tour and I became an instant fan!’ Like, every other person. It really does work that way, so — SLIPKNOT , thank you so much.”

About Volbeat:

Volbeat emerged from Copenhagen in 2001. Since then, they’ve tirelessly clawed their way to hard rock’s upper echelon with endless touring and a string of six beloved full-length albums. Their 2010 album  Beyond Hell/Above Heaven , which features hit singles “A Warrior’s Call” and “Heaven Nor Hell,” received RIAA Gold Certification. 2013’s  Outlaw Gentlemen & Shady Ladies  bowed at #9 on the Billboard Top 200 upon release marking the highest U.S. chart entry for a Danish Act since 1997 until the band’s 2016  album Seal The Deal & Let’s Boogie  topped it by debuting at #4. Most recently the band released  Let’s Boogie! Live From Telia Parken,  which commemorates and immortalizes VOLBEAT becoming the first Danish band to headline and sell out their hometown venue, Denmark’s Telia Parken, with over 48,250 people in attendance. The 26-track album   and concert film includes live versions of VOLBEAT’s chart-topping hits and features special guests on the album including (in order of appearance) Mille Petrozza, Johan Olsen, Mark “Barney” Greenway, Lars Ulrich, boxer Mikkel Kessler and Danko Jones.

About Gojira:

Gojira, comprised of brothers Joe Duplantier [vocals, guitar] and Mario Duplantier [drums], Christian Andreu [guitar], and Jean-Michel Labadie [bass], have challenged themselves and heavy music since forming in 1996. The band’s most recent release, MAGMA, shook the world in 2016, staking its claim amongst the year’s best albums and earning Gojira their first-ever Grammy nominations for ‘Best Metal Performance’ and ‘Best Rock Album .’   MAGMA took the #1 spot on Billboard ’s ‘Hard Rock Albums’ chart upon debut, making Gojira the first French band to hold the #1 spot on the chart in its twelve-year existence.  A truly global phenomenon, MAGMA  marked the highest chart debuts of Gojira’s career landing them Top 25 on the ‘Billboard 200,’ with career-high chart positions around the globe including; Top 10’s in France, Canada, Switzerland, Austria, Finland, and Norway, with Top 15 debuts in Australia and Germany.  MAGMA received Metal Hammer ’s coveted “Album of the Year” title, while also landing  on Rolling Stone ’s “Top 20 Metal Albums of 2016,” Consequence of Sound ’s  “Top 50 Albums of 2016” / “Top 10 Metal Albums of 2016” lists, and Pop Matters ’ “Best Metal of 2016” recap. Additionally, “Stranded,” the lead single off of MAGMA, was named one of Stereogum ’s “100 Favorite Songs Of 2016.”

About Behemoth: Over the last two years, Behemoth has transformed itself into just that.  Leading the charge within the extreme metal world on the back of their brand-new release ‘I Loved You At Your Darkest,’ we have seen Behemoth and their Legions grow in unanticipated numbers. Having just completed their most successful European and North American headline tours to date, Behemoth now brings their sacrilegious swarm back to open the biggest metal tour of the year.  Behemoth began in 1991 through founding member and band leader, Nergal in his home town of Gdansk, Poland. After many years of hard work and tenacity, Behemoth began to create their own traction releasing the extremely successful releases, ‘Demigod’ and ‘Evangelion.’ Since the momentum has steadily built up to their breakthrough record, ‘The Satanist’ which gave Behemoth worldwide recognition, no longer confined to underground sub-genres. ‘I Loved You At Your Darkest’ takes us to date and another step in the evolution of Behemoth.

Recent tour reviews

I've seen Slipknot quite a few times now, and they ALLWAYS deliver a remarkable show, with proper energy, musical quality in their performance, and almost theatrical charismatics that keeps blowing me away.

The Telenor Arena's sound ALMOST ruined the experience, as it just can't handle this sort of scale audience, the whole audio-experience seems dull and horribly low quality if you move anywhere towards the middle of the crowd or backwards in the standing section of the audience.

First part of slipknot and All of behemoth was simply drowned out, and they somehow managed to turn the sound up a notch throughout the show.. but I won't be going back there, unless they either lower the prices or upp their sound-quality.

Slipknot were amazing, first time seeing them live. However... the sound system was dire, we really had to shift forward to hear what was going on. We could only hear the bassline and some drums. Couldn’t hear guitars or vocals clear. My videos picked the sound up a little, but you can hear everyone talking it was that quiet. Only reason I say this is that I saw Korn play with Limp Bizkit at this same venue (Arena Birmingham) in 2016... and Ray Luziers drums standing at the back of the venue near where you walk in, his snares and kicks hit you in the chest like thunder, and you could hear the clarity of the vocals, guitars, bass, everything. This time around for Slipknot unfortunately the sound just wasn’t on par which is a shame

Since I hadn’t seen them since Vol. 3, there is a lot of material I have never caught live yet. As I said, I like every Slipknot album. (Probably every Slipknot song if you don’t count demos and remixes). Unfortunately, they didn’t play anything off of ‘Gray Chapter this time, which I was a bit gutted by. I really like that album and would have loved to see something like ‘Custer,’ ‘AOV’ or ‘Sarcastrophe’ live. ‘Custer’ especially. From the first time I heard it I said to myself ”that is a song that will be in their setlists forevermore.” They also only played one song from All Hope Is Gone. I guess that’s reason enough to try see them a few more times, as I really want to catch more songs I haven’t heard live before. I’m keen to hear it all.

But given how great the new album is, I was most keen to see material from We Are Not Your Kind live. I was thinking about how much I wanted it on such a regular basis since end of the week that the album was released and it had all started to click with me. Turns out I was in luck, because if you count the 2018 stand-alone single ‘All Out Life’ which technically isn’t on the album (but which features the lyric ‘we are not your kind’ repeatedly chanted and I always mentally count as being part of that album, and have attached to the album in my itunes and on my phone and just pretend it is on the album anyway), then they played 5 new songs. Aforementioned ‘All Out Life.’ Big single ‘Unsainted,’ which opened the show. The dark, weird, almost formless album closer ‘Solway Firth.’ The groovy ‘Birth Of The Cruel’ and the stompy new single ‘Nero Forte.’ It was great to see this much new material live. It shows you how much confidence the band must have in the new album, and given the audience reaction, this confidence was well placed.

Not counting intros and outros over the speakers, there were 17 tracks. 6 of which I had never seen live before. Pretty great value. No wonder they didn’t have room for much material off All Hope’ or ‘Gray Chapter. The rest of the set featured the big singles from Vol 3; ‘Duality,’ ‘Before I Forget’ and ‘Vermillion’ as well as many classic concert favourites from the debut like ‘(Sic),’ ‘Surfacing’ and ‘Eyeless’ and topped off with a few of the heavier numbers from Iowa, like ‘Disasterpiece’ and ‘People=Shit.’

Slipknot are pretty great at mixing up sets, and not just playing the same thing every tour, swapping in a surprise or two, and dropping a few expected tunes now and again for a deep cut. The (sort of) surprises in the set were first album bonus-track ‘Eeyore’ and Iowa deepish-cut ‘New Abortion’ although I have seen both live before and both have been on official live releases so not super surprising if you want to be pedantic, but I was satisfied. In terms of dropping an expected tune, this time they dropped ‘Spit It Out’ which is almost unfathomable, as therefore they didn’t do the ‘’Jump The Fuck Up’’ moment, (where they make the whole crowd crouch for a few minutes then jump up in unison) but I’ve had that three times and on all their live albums too, so I was glad to lose it if it meant more time for new songs.

In terms of stage show, it was the biggest and best I’d ever seen them. There were videoscreens all over the place (even on the drums). There was pyro and steam. There were fireworks. There was a Nikki Sixx style bass guitar flamethrower like on Motley Crue’s The End DVD. There were treadmills which the more expendable members like the DJ, Sid, would go and play about on when not needed musically. He did the moonwalk on a treadmill at one point. Their setlist didn’t feature many turn-table focused songs this time so I guess he’s got to do something. Clown got a flaming baseball bat out for the keg smashes on ‘Duality.’

Performance and sound wise, it was really good. That’s not always a given. As much as love this band, they aren’t what I’d call consistent. Some bands are just perfect every single time (Hatebreed spring to mind). Slipknot are not one of those bands. I mean, when you have 9 members, complex awkward songs with atypical structures, and a singer inside a mask running around, its hard to get everything sounding perfect…

If you look across all of Slipknot’s official and unofficial live releases, you’ll notice they have been really hit and miss over the years in terms of both vocals and audio mix. Even on just their Voliminal DVD, which features footage from a few different shows, the live stuff goes from amazing to quite poor. The 9.0 live album which I mentioned earlier features material from across a whole tour, and that album has quite poor live vocals and subpar sound mixes. Conversely though the Disasterpeices and (Sic)nesses DVDs have superb live vocals and mixes and are absolutely must-own. The pro shot live stuff from various festivals on the first two album cycles is really mixed also. I remember MTV2 used to have footage of the band on the Iowa cycle in Germany, where Corey’s vocals were really muffled and the kick drums overpowered all the guitars. When I first got into them, on the debut album cycle, the only live stuff available was bootlegs, and they were always pretty rough. You could get pirate CDs from shows like their first time in London or from dates on the US Ozzfest, but you could tell from the CD that Corey was running around, bouncing and going crazy so much, that the vocals would suffer. Even my own live experiences of the band were mixed. When I saw them live myself in Belfast the mix and vocals were brilliant and its still one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. When I saw them headlining on the Vol. 3 cycle, the vocals were poor (he has discussed in interviews over the years that he was drinking heavily in that period) but the mix was great. When I saw them supporting Metallica on that same album cycle, the mix was poor but the vocals were good. As I said, its not a given.

I guess there’s a lot of variables for the soundmen to get right and lots of chances to get it wrong. Depending on how much running and bouncing singer Corey Taylor does, and how his mask affects the microphones, there’s a big gap between his best and his worst shows.

However, tonight it was great. It was pretty close to a perfect show. I mean, if I had to pick pedantic holes in it then I guess the guitar-intro to ‘Surfacing’ sounded a bit weird, and the vocals on the chorus to ‘Nero Forte’ were a bit thin, but otherwise it was magnificent.

The sound mix was perfectly balanced. Even the additional percussion was actually audible and you could tell why they have three drummers. The bass was thick. The guitars were clear and didn’t go muddy. The drum kit was powerful and you could pick every element out individually. The vocals were just right. I couldn’t have asked for a better mix.

The band were energetic and enthusiastic and played like a band on the rise. Drums were absolutely battered. Riffs were practically thrown into the crowd. I guess buoyed by the success of the new album, they are revitalised and fired-up. This was definitely the 2nd-best I ever seen them live; sceond only to that very first time I saw them, back in Belfast in 2002, which boasted many more songs from my favourite album, Iowa, in the set, and featured the classic line-up when they were still mysterious and I was wide-eyed and young. (And to be fair, my memory of that could in fact be a little clouded in a rose-tinted teenage nostalgia).

I always regretted not seeing them live on the last two album cycles, but I would have been heartbroken to miss them this time. Thank goodness for the weird phone/website discrepancy! This was awesome. One of the bands that have meant the most to me in my whole life, playing brilliantly, with a great setlist and sounding great. This is going to be a show I remember for a long time.

Slipknot, Volbeat, Gojira & Behemoth at Shoreline Amphitheatre

Slipknot tickets, shoreline amphitheatre | mountain view, california.

One of the biggest Metal events of the year has finally arrived! The Knotfest Roadshow is here and that means Slipknot, Volbeat, Gojira & Behemoth are all coming to perform LIVE! Slipknot have transformed throughout the years and have become one of the most famous bands in the world! If you're a Slipknot fan then whatever you do don't miss out on tickets to catch them at Shoreline Amphitheatre on Friday 26th July 2019!

Slipknot, Volbeat, Gojira & Behemoth at Shoreline Amphitheatre

As they first began all the way back in 1995, Slipknot took to the limelight and gained a popular following within just a few years of their first live shows, 1999 hit the ball rolling with their debut release, but it wasn't until their 2001 record lowa that they exploded on the scene. The running up to the release, many describe the atmosphere to be intense as fans were glued to their every move to see what would come next! The hype surrounding the record, even before it was released helped to showcase what Slipknot were all about as they carefully crafted their next album.

The record Iowa pushed them into the mainstream Metal scene as it became a hit record pretty much over night, hitting up ten charts in nine different countries instantly and soon everyone was talking about it. Iowa included big singles such as; "Disasterpiece", "The Heretic Anthem", "People = Shit" as well as the Grammy-nominated "Left Behind" and "My Plague". The album has been described as one of their heaviest to date and reached platinum success in the US and Canada. As well as the energy that the record contains, it's also a long-piece of masterpiece music as the album length reaches 66 minutes – making it their longest one to date.

Slipknot is a rare band as their image has become just as eye-catching as their music, as the idea started out small with Shawn turning up to practise in his legendary clown mask, the theatrics and ideas grew from their and their costumes have got even more detailed and impressive throughout the years. Giving an edge to their career and a uniqueness that is instantly recognisable, as they perform live in show and of course in their epic displays in their music video's also.

"The masks have changed but the face is still the same: almost 20 years after Slipknot emerged as leading members of the Nu-Metal movement in America, they are still brutal, nihilistic and completely relentless. And, as their British tour is proving, there is no less drive or ambition in their performance or attitude."

Slipknot Announce Major Summer 2019 Tour With Volbeat, Behemoth + Gojira

Brace yourselves — the heaviest tour of the year is coming. Slipknot will embark on a headlining summer trek with  Volbeat , Behemoth and Gojira rounding out a knockout lineup.

These shows will be among the first of the year for Slipknot, who did not play a single gig in 2018 as Corey Taylor placed his focus on Stone Sour and their  Hydrograd album. With things back in motion, a new song ("All Out Life") released in October and the first new album since 2014's  .5: The Gray Chapter  on the way, all eyes are on Slipknot this year.

Slipknot, Volbeat, Gojira & Behemoth at Pavilion at Montage Mountain

Slipknot’s return to the road comes after a one-year break, during which time vocalist Corey Taylor has been devoting his time to Stone Sour and other side projects. “Obviously I’ve been doing my thing, but the band just got together and started writing some of the most incredible music that I’ve ever heard,” the singer said in an interview, enthusing about the work of his fellow band mates. “It was so good and so inspiring to me, that I just sat right down and wrote basically everything that I was feeling.”

And the result was “All Out Life,” a song that showcases the darker, more aggressive direction that the band has taken with the new album – and this single is just the tip of the iceberg. Are you ready to experience the heaviest Slipknot yet, LIVE in concert with Gojira, Behemoth, and Volbeat?? If the answer is yes, then get on that “Buy Tickets,” button – it won’t be long before there aren’t any left!!

SLIPKNOT Performs Without CLOWN At 2024 SONIC TEMPLE Festival

SLIPKNOT performed without percussionist M. Shawn Crahan (a.k.a. Clown ) at this past weekend's Sonic Temple festival in Columbus, Ohio.

Prior to launching into the fourth song of SLIPKNOT 's headlining set of the four-day event on Sunday (May 19),singer Corey Taylor addressed Clown 's absence, telling the crowd: "First things first, obviously, we are missing one of our brothers. Clown , yesterday, broke a tooth, had to have it removed. There is an issue. He had to stay home for medical reasons, but he insisted that we come here and fucking play this fucking show for each and every goddamn one of you, man."

Corey continued: "He is missed. He is essential, and goddammit, on the count of three, I want you to fuckin tell him all that he is so fucking loved. I wanna hear you scream! ONE! TWO! THREE!"

Sonic Temple marked SLIPKNOT 's fourth show with the band's new drummer, former SEPULTURA sticksman Eloy Casagrande .

Prior to Sonic Temple , SLIPKNOT played on April 25 at Pappy + Harriet's in Pioneertown, California, on April 27 at Sick New World in Las Vegas, Nevada and on May 12 at Welcome To Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida.

For all four gigs, SLIPKNOT adopted a classic look, bringing back the 1999 red jumpsuits and elements of their early masks into their modern versions, tying into the fact that SLIPKNOT is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

Back in November 2021, Crahan missed the band's performance at the Welcome To Rockville festival after undergoing surgery to repair a torn bicep tendon in his left arm.

In a 2012 interview with LA Weekly , Crahan said that he is "always injuring" himself while performing with SLIPKNOT . "I don't know if it's because I'm a klutz or an idiot, I don't know," he said. "I treat every show like it's the last. Since the beginning, every show we've told ourselves that this could be the last. My kids know that if I die on stage, that's where I should have gone. I don't want to, though. I want to live for a very long time. I'd like to retire and leave on a good note."

After parting ways with Jay Weinberg last November, SLIPKNOT teased fans with a hint about a new drummer two and a half months ago, posting a photo of a single broken drumstick online with the caption "Rehearsal."

The band explained in a statement that the split with Weinberg was a creative decision. Jay followed up with a statement of his own, saying that he was "heartbroken and blindsided" by his dismissal.

Weinberg has since joined SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and INFECTIOUS GROOVES .

Casagrande abruptly quit SEPULTURA three months ago, shortly before he was supposed to begin rehearsals for the band's recently launched 40th-anniversary farewell tour.

"February 6th, a few days prior to the first rehearsal, drummer Eloy Casagrande informed the band that he was leaving SEPULTURA to pursue a career in another project," the band said in a statement.

Casagrande joined SEPULTURA nearly 13 years ago as the replacement for Jean Dolabella .

SLIPKNOT 's latest album "The End, So Far" , arrived in August 2022. It marked the band's the last full-length LP before the departure of both keyboardist Craig Jones , who left the group in June 2023, and Weinberg .

"You’re absolutely right." Slipknot confirm rumours that brand new song Long May You Die, their first with new drummer Eloy Casagrande, is coming

Slipknot have confirmed rumours circulating within their own fanbase that a brand new song, titled Long May You Die , has been recorded. Speaking on Twitter/X, the Iowan metal legends somewhat cryptically noted: "Slipknot fans are talking amongst themselves about 'Long May You Die' being a new song written during the recent recording sessions."

"You're right. You're absolutely right," they added, stopping short of confirming when (or even if?) the new song will actually be released. When it comes, Long May You Die will serve as the first piece of new Slipknot music since the official announcement that ex-Sepultura drummer Eloy Casagrande would be replacing Jay Weingberg behind the kit. Casagrande recently revealed that he has already written with the band , though concrete info on the new songs remains typically elusive. “We’ve written a few things, and they’re shelved for the time being," he told Veja São Paulo.

“For the time being, I don’t think there’s any pressure to record new material. But I’m sure they want to, I don’t know when, because right now the band is focussed on celebrating its 25th anniversary.”

Those 25th anniversary celebrations, marking two and a half decades since the release of Slipknot's game-changing debut album, will see The Nine run through dates across North, Central and South America, plus the UK and Europe later in the year.

Here’s Where to Buy Slipknot Concert Tickets (Before You Forget and They Sell Out)

  • By John Lonsdale

John Lonsdale

If you purchase an independently reviewed product or service through a link on our website, Rolling Stone may receive an affiliate commission.

Quick Answer: Fans can find Slipknot tickets online on Ticketmaster , and sold-out dates on StubHub , Vivid Seats , and SeatGeek .

“Here comes the pain!” Slipknot shouted on “(sic)” from their 1999 self-tilted debut album. Now nearly 25 years since the Des Moines, Iowa-based crew got their start, the band’s getting ready to rock North America with a multi-city trek dubbed the Here Comes the Pain Tour — with tickets now on sale.

“Every time I’ve walked on stage, it’s never been about how many people have been there because my culture, the maggots, always show up,” founding member Shawn “Clown” Crahan previously shared for the Here Comes the Pain Tour announcement.

Continued Crahan, “But as we’ve grown as a band, we have had fewer and fewer of those intimate, personal moments, trading them for massive ones. So we’re gonna make it more personal on the anniversary, but how remains to be seen. Just get ready to have your face kicked in. Because we just do what we do, spread that maggot culture — that disease. And you’ve been infected.”

Kicking off in August in Noblesville, Indiana, Slipknot’s tour includes stops in their hometown for Knotfest at Waterworks Park, along with a show at Madison Square Garden in New York City and the new Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California.

Whether you want to see the band’s tour opener or their performance at Knotfest in Des Moines, here’s where you can find Slipknot tickets (before they sell out).

How to Buy Slipknot Tickets Online

Looking for Slipknot Here Comes the Pain Tour tickets ? These sites have you covered:

Buy Slipknot Tickets on Ticketmaster

General sale for the Here Comes the Pain Tour started on May 3, and tickets are still available for a majority of the dates on Ticketmaster , which also has a few verified resale tickets on its site for select sold-out shows.

Buy Slipknot Tickets on StubHub

StubHub is another legitimate option for finding passes to sold-out dates. The band’s first night in Los Angeles, for instance, appears to mostly be sold out of general admission seats on Ticketmaster, but StubHub currently has tickets starting at $72 a piece. (Just remember resale sites might price their tickets higher than face value, so it’s always worth price-checking ahead of time if possible.)

Buy Slipknot Tickets on Vivid Seats

The band headlined the US festival last weekend

Slipknot's Shawn 'Clown' Crahan performing live on stage

Slipknot percussionist Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan was absent from the band’s headline show at Sonic Temple Festival last weekend due to “medical reasons”.

The masked group played a 14-track set at the Historic Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio on Sunday (May 19) as part of the hard rock and metal event’s final day.

Early in the gig, frontman Corey Taylor told the crowd that Slipknot were “missing one of our brothers”. He went on to explain that Clown had “broke a tooth [and] had to have it removed” the day before.

Taylor continued: “There is an issue. He had to stay home for medical reasons, but he insisted that we come here and fucking play this fucking show for each and every goddamn one of you, man.”

The singer went on to say that Clown was “missed” by his bandmates, adding: “He is essential. And goddammit, on the count of three, I want you to fucking tell him all that he is so fucking loved.”

From there, Slipknot launched into a live rendition of ‘Before I Forget’ from their 2004 album ‘Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)’. Check out fan-shot footage of the moment here:

In 2021, Clown was forced to miss Slipknot’s set at Welcome To Rockville after undergoing surgery on a torn bicep tendon . He had sustained the injury during a performance at Knotfest in LA.

Slipknot recently announced their first song with their new drummer Eloy Casagrande , titled ‘Long May You Die’.

The band confirmed that Casagrande – the former drummer of Brazilian metal outfit Sepultura – had joined the line-up in April . He made his onstage debut at a last-minute intimate show at the Pappy + Harriet’s barbecue bar in Pioneertown, California.

Casagrande took over the role from Jay Weinberg, who was fired from Slipknot late last year. The group also parted ways with longtime sampler and keyboardist Craig Jones in June 2023 .

Slipknot released their latest studio album, ‘The End, So Far’ , in September 2022 – marking their final full-length project on Roadrunner Records.

Last December, founding member Shawn ‘Clown’ Crahan spoke to  NME about what 2024 had in store for the group .

“I’m ready to move on from what has been, and move onto a world that I know needs to be. For instance, normally we’d have about two years on and one-and-a-half years off – we’re not doing that anymore,” he explained.

“We’re going back to basics. I’m ready to kick everybody in the face again! I’m ready to do a 100-person venue again! I’m ready to do a 500-person venue…”

Slipknot are set to embark on their ‘Here Comes The Pain’ 25th anniversary tour in North America this August, with Knocked Loose and more appearing as special guests at the shows. Find any remaining tickets here .

A run of European and UK gigs will follow in December , including two performances at The O2 in London . You can see Slipknot’s 2024 UK dates below, and find any remaining tickets here .

Slipknot’s upcoming UK shows are:

DECEMBER 14 – First Direct Arena, Leeds 15 – OVO Hydro, Glasgow 17 – Co-op Live, Manchester 18 – Utilita Arena, Birmingham 20 – The O2, London 21 – The O2, London

In a previous statement about this year’s tour, Clown explained: “It has been 25 years since we first played on the continent, and we’ve been back ever since. The memories I have from all those times are life changing, and we’re ready to make more.

“I’m so excited to bring our 25 year Anniversary tour to Europe and the UK. Be prepared for an energy you’ve never experienced before. It’s happening.”

According to a press release, Slipknot’s upcoming run will be “especially explosive” and promises to be a “spectacle of sound and sight without comparison”.

Savvino-storozhevsky monastery and museum.

Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery and Museum

Zvenigorod's most famous sight is the Savvino-Storozhevsky Monastery, which was founded in 1398 by the monk Savva from the Troitse-Sergieva Lavra, at the invitation and with the support of Prince Yury Dmitrievich of Zvenigorod. Savva was later canonised as St Sabbas (Savva) of Storozhev. The monastery late flourished under the reign of Tsar Alexis, who chose the monastery as his family church and often went on pilgrimage there and made lots of donations to it. Most of the monastery’s buildings date from this time. The monastery is heavily fortified with thick walls and six towers, the most impressive of which is the Krasny Tower which also serves as the eastern entrance. The monastery was closed in 1918 and only reopened in 1995. In 1998 Patriarch Alexius II took part in a service to return the relics of St Sabbas to the monastery. Today the monastery has the status of a stauropegic monastery, which is second in status to a lavra. In addition to being a working monastery, it also holds the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum.

Belfry and Neighbouring Churches

slipknot behemoth tour

Located near the main entrance is the monastery's belfry which is perhaps the calling card of the monastery due to its uniqueness. It was built in the 1650s and the St Sergius of Radonezh’s Church was opened on the middle tier in the mid-17th century, although it was originally dedicated to the Trinity. The belfry's 35-tonne Great Bladgovestny Bell fell in 1941 and was only restored and returned in 2003. Attached to the belfry is a large refectory and the Transfiguration Church, both of which were built on the orders of Tsar Alexis in the 1650s.

slipknot behemoth tour

To the left of the belfry is another, smaller, refectory which is attached to the Trinity Gate-Church, which was also constructed in the 1650s on the orders of Tsar Alexis who made it his own family church. The church is elaborately decorated with colourful trims and underneath the archway is a beautiful 19th century fresco.

Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral

slipknot behemoth tour

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is the oldest building in the monastery and among the oldest buildings in the Moscow Region. It was built between 1404 and 1405 during the lifetime of St Sabbas and using the funds of Prince Yury of Zvenigorod. The white-stone cathedral is a standard four-pillar design with a single golden dome. After the death of St Sabbas he was interred in the cathedral and a new altar dedicated to him was added.

slipknot behemoth tour

Under the reign of Tsar Alexis the cathedral was decorated with frescoes by Stepan Ryazanets, some of which remain today. Tsar Alexis also presented the cathedral with a five-tier iconostasis, the top row of icons have been preserved.

Tsaritsa's Chambers

slipknot behemoth tour

The Nativity of Virgin Mary Cathedral is located between the Tsaritsa's Chambers of the left and the Palace of Tsar Alexis on the right. The Tsaritsa's Chambers were built in the mid-17th century for the wife of Tsar Alexey - Tsaritsa Maria Ilinichna Miloskavskaya. The design of the building is influenced by the ancient Russian architectural style. Is prettier than the Tsar's chambers opposite, being red in colour with elaborately decorated window frames and entrance.

slipknot behemoth tour

At present the Tsaritsa's Chambers houses the Zvenigorod Historical, Architectural and Art Museum. Among its displays is an accurate recreation of the interior of a noble lady's chambers including furniture, decorations and a decorated tiled oven, and an exhibition on the history of Zvenigorod and the monastery.

Palace of Tsar Alexis

slipknot behemoth tour

The Palace of Tsar Alexis was built in the 1650s and is now one of the best surviving examples of non-religious architecture of that era. It was built especially for Tsar Alexis who often visited the monastery on religious pilgrimages. Its most striking feature is its pretty row of nine chimney spouts which resemble towers.
