* Iowa State Fair - SLIPKNOT and GOJIRA only

SLIPKNOT 's sixth album is once again being recorded at a Los Angeles studio with producer Greg Fidelman , who engineered and mixed the band's 2004 LP "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)" and helmed 2014's ".5: The Gray Chapter" .

A new SLIPKNOT song, "All Out Life" , was released last October. The official music video for the track was directed by the band's own M. Shawn Crahan .

Singer Corey Taylor recently described the band's new music as "evil," adding that the follow-up to ".5: The Gray Chapter" is "going to be ridiculous."

According to Taylor , "All Out Life" isn't "nearly as dark and vicious as the rest of the stuff that we have that we're working on."

".5: The Gray Chapter" was released following a six-year hiatus during which founding SLIPKNOT bassist Paul Gray died and drummer Joey Jordison was dismissed.

Recent tour reviews

I've seen Slipknot quite a few times now, and they ALLWAYS deliver a remarkable show, with proper energy, musical quality in their performance, and almost theatrical charismatics that keeps blowing me away.

The Telenor Arena's sound ALMOST ruined the experience, as it just can't handle this sort of scale audience, the whole audio-experience seems dull and horribly low quality if you move anywhere towards the middle of the crowd or backwards in the standing section of the audience.

First part of slipknot and All of behemoth was simply drowned out, and they somehow managed to turn the sound up a notch throughout the show.. but I won't be going back there, unless they either lower the prices or upp their sound-quality.

Slipknot were amazing, first time seeing them live. However... the sound system was dire, we really had to shift forward to hear what was going on. We could only hear the bassline and some drums. Couldn’t hear guitars or vocals clear. My videos picked the sound up a little, but you can hear everyone talking it was that quiet. Only reason I say this is that I saw Korn play with Limp Bizkit at this same venue (Arena Birmingham) in 2016... and Ray Luziers drums standing at the back of the venue near where you walk in, his snares and kicks hit you in the chest like thunder, and you could hear the clarity of the vocals, guitars, bass, everything. This time around for Slipknot unfortunately the sound just wasn’t on par which is a shame

Since I hadn’t seen them since Vol. 3, there is a lot of material I have never caught live yet. As I said, I like every Slipknot album. (Probably every Slipknot song if you don’t count demos and remixes). Unfortunately, they didn’t play anything off of ‘Gray Chapter this time, which I was a bit gutted by. I really like that album and would have loved to see something like ‘Custer,’ ‘AOV’ or ‘Sarcastrophe’ live. ‘Custer’ especially. From the first time I heard it I said to myself ”that is a song that will be in their setlists forevermore.” They also only played one song from All Hope Is Gone. I guess that’s reason enough to try see them a few more times, as I really want to catch more songs I haven’t heard live before. I’m keen to hear it all.

But given how great the new album is, I was most keen to see material from We Are Not Your Kind live. I was thinking about how much I wanted it on such a regular basis since end of the week that the album was released and it had all started to click with me. Turns out I was in luck, because if you count the 2018 stand-alone single ‘All Out Life’ which technically isn’t on the album (but which features the lyric ‘we are not your kind’ repeatedly chanted and I always mentally count as being part of that album, and have attached to the album in my itunes and on my phone and just pretend it is on the album anyway), then they played 5 new songs. Aforementioned ‘All Out Life.’ Big single ‘Unsainted,’ which opened the show. The dark, weird, almost formless album closer ‘Solway Firth.’ The groovy ‘Birth Of The Cruel’ and the stompy new single ‘Nero Forte.’ It was great to see this much new material live. It shows you how much confidence the band must have in the new album, and given the audience reaction, this confidence was well placed.

Not counting intros and outros over the speakers, there were 17 tracks. 6 of which I had never seen live before. Pretty great value. No wonder they didn’t have room for much material off All Hope’ or ‘Gray Chapter. The rest of the set featured the big singles from Vol 3; ‘Duality,’ ‘Before I Forget’ and ‘Vermillion’ as well as many classic concert favourites from the debut like ‘(Sic),’ ‘Surfacing’ and ‘Eyeless’ and topped off with a few of the heavier numbers from Iowa, like ‘Disasterpiece’ and ‘People=Shit.’

Slipknot are pretty great at mixing up sets, and not just playing the same thing every tour, swapping in a surprise or two, and dropping a few expected tunes now and again for a deep cut. The (sort of) surprises in the set were first album bonus-track ‘Eeyore’ and Iowa deepish-cut ‘New Abortion’ although I have seen both live before and both have been on official live releases so not super surprising if you want to be pedantic, but I was satisfied. In terms of dropping an expected tune, this time they dropped ‘Spit It Out’ which is almost unfathomable, as therefore they didn’t do the ‘’Jump The Fuck Up’’ moment, (where they make the whole crowd crouch for a few minutes then jump up in unison) but I’ve had that three times and on all their live albums too, so I was glad to lose it if it meant more time for new songs.

In terms of stage show, it was the biggest and best I’d ever seen them. There were videoscreens all over the place (even on the drums). There was pyro and steam. There were fireworks. There was a Nikki Sixx style bass guitar flamethrower like on Motley Crue’s The End DVD. There were treadmills which the more expendable members like the DJ, Sid, would go and play about on when not needed musically. He did the moonwalk on a treadmill at one point. Their setlist didn’t feature many turn-table focused songs this time so I guess he’s got to do something. Clown got a flaming baseball bat out for the keg smashes on ‘Duality.’

Performance and sound wise, it was really good. That’s not always a given. As much as love this band, they aren’t what I’d call consistent. Some bands are just perfect every single time (Hatebreed spring to mind). Slipknot are not one of those bands. I mean, when you have 9 members, complex awkward songs with atypical structures, and a singer inside a mask running around, its hard to get everything sounding perfect…

If you look across all of Slipknot’s official and unofficial live releases, you’ll notice they have been really hit and miss over the years in terms of both vocals and audio mix. Even on just their Voliminal DVD, which features footage from a few different shows, the live stuff goes from amazing to quite poor. The 9.0 live album which I mentioned earlier features material from across a whole tour, and that album has quite poor live vocals and subpar sound mixes. Conversely though the Disasterpeices and (Sic)nesses DVDs have superb live vocals and mixes and are absolutely must-own. The pro shot live stuff from various festivals on the first two album cycles is really mixed also. I remember MTV2 used to have footage of the band on the Iowa cycle in Germany, where Corey’s vocals were really muffled and the kick drums overpowered all the guitars. When I first got into them, on the debut album cycle, the only live stuff available was bootlegs, and they were always pretty rough. You could get pirate CDs from shows like their first time in London or from dates on the US Ozzfest, but you could tell from the CD that Corey was running around, bouncing and going crazy so much, that the vocals would suffer. Even my own live experiences of the band were mixed. When I saw them live myself in Belfast the mix and vocals were brilliant and its still one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. When I saw them headlining on the Vol. 3 cycle, the vocals were poor (he has discussed in interviews over the years that he was drinking heavily in that period) but the mix was great. When I saw them supporting Metallica on that same album cycle, the mix was poor but the vocals were good. As I said, its not a given.

I guess there’s a lot of variables for the soundmen to get right and lots of chances to get it wrong. Depending on how much running and bouncing singer Corey Taylor does, and how his mask affects the microphones, there’s a big gap between his best and his worst shows.

However, tonight it was great. It was pretty close to a perfect show. I mean, if I had to pick pedantic holes in it then I guess the guitar-intro to ‘Surfacing’ sounded a bit weird, and the vocals on the chorus to ‘Nero Forte’ were a bit thin, but otherwise it was magnificent.

The sound mix was perfectly balanced. Even the additional percussion was actually audible and you could tell why they have three drummers. The bass was thick. The guitars were clear and didn’t go muddy. The drum kit was powerful and you could pick every element out individually. The vocals were just right. I couldn’t have asked for a better mix.

The band were energetic and enthusiastic and played like a band on the rise. Drums were absolutely battered. Riffs were practically thrown into the crowd. I guess buoyed by the success of the new album, they are revitalised and fired-up. This was definitely the 2nd-best I ever seen them live; sceond only to that very first time I saw them, back in Belfast in 2002, which boasted many more songs from my favourite album, Iowa, in the set, and featured the classic line-up when they were still mysterious and I was wide-eyed and young. (And to be fair, my memory of that could in fact be a little clouded in a rose-tinted teenage nostalgia).

I always regretted not seeing them live on the last two album cycles, but I would have been heartbroken to miss them this time. Thank goodness for the weird phone/website discrepancy! This was awesome. One of the bands that have meant the most to me in my whole life, playing brilliantly, with a great setlist and sounding great. This is going to be a show I remember for a long time.

BEHEMOTH’s NERGAL Speaks On What It’s Like Touring With SLIPKNOT

Nergal Corey Taylor

In a recent interview with Ultimate-Guitar.com , BEHEMOTH mastermind Adam “Nergal” Darski talked about touring with SLIPKNOT , discussing what Corey Taylor and rest of the band were like on the road.

When asked on what it was like to tour with SLIPKNOT , Nergal responded: “Well, maybe one of the best tours ever. First of all, on a personal level, they’re amazing, very helpful, you know — Corey Taylor would be so nice. He sang on the ME AND THAT MAN album [on the ‘How Come?’ song in 2020] and that was beautiful of him doing that, and he did a fantastic job.

“I’m friends with all of them — I mean, some are quite secluded, they stay away from crowds and parties, but [bassist Alessandro Venturella ] V-Man is always there to get into trouble. Jay [ Weinberg ,] the drummer, is f*ckin’ the nicest dude out there. Corey ‘s, you know, amazing… And like, really, each one of them — and [percussionist Shawn Crahan ] ‘Clown’ — there’s not enough compliments that I can say about how well it went.

“We were treated with the utmost respect,” he continued. “That was the highest-paid tour we’ve ever got, and they did that because they really wanted to bring the best out of us. So, it’s not one of those bands where they’re like, ‘We’re gonna make SLIPKNOT look better than you, we’re gonna make you guys look like some unimportant band from ex-Soviet Union or whatever.’ No. No. They’re like, ‘Hey, we’re paying you more than what you usually get, but please, make sure you impress the f*ck out of the crowd.’ And we’re like, ‘You bet we will!’

“So, I’m extremely grateful for what SLIPKNOT did to us,” Nergal added. “It was game-changing, it really gave us so much. Every other person I talk to that’s from Europe or the U.S. goes, ‘Man, I saw you for the first time on the SLIPKNOT tour and I became an instant fan!’ Like, every other person. It really does work that way, so — SLIPKNOT , thank you so much.”

One of the biggest Metal events of the year has finally arrived! The Knotfest Roadshow is here and that means Slipknot, Volbeat, Gojira & Behemoth are all coming to perform LIVE! Slipknot have transformed throughout the years and have become one of the most famous bands in the world! If you're a Slipknot fan then whatever you do don't miss out on tickets to catch them at Shoreline Amphitheatre on Friday 26th July 2019!

Slipknot, Volbeat, Gojira & Behemoth at Shoreline Amphitheatre

As they first began all the way back in 1995, Slipknot took to the limelight and gained a popular following within just a few years of their first live shows, 1999 hit the ball rolling with their debut release, but it wasn't until their 2001 record lowa that they exploded on the scene. The running up to the release, many describe the atmosphere to be intense as fans were glued to their every move to see what would come next! The hype surrounding the record, even before it was released helped to showcase what Slipknot were all about as they carefully crafted their next album.

The record Iowa pushed them into the mainstream Metal scene as it became a hit record pretty much over night, hitting up ten charts in nine different countries instantly and soon everyone was talking about it. Iowa included big singles such as; "Disasterpiece", "The Heretic Anthem", "People = Shit" as well as the Grammy-nominated "Left Behind" and "My Plague". The album has been described as one of their heaviest to date and reached platinum success in the US and Canada. As well as the energy that the record contains, it's also a long-piece of masterpiece music as the album length reaches 66 minutes – making it their longest one to date.

Slipknot is a rare band as their image has become just as eye-catching as their music, as the idea started out small with Shawn turning up to practise in his legendary clown mask, the theatrics and ideas grew from their and their costumes have got even more detailed and impressive throughout the years. Giving an edge to their career and a uniqueness that is instantly recognisable, as they perform live in show and of course in their epic displays in their music video's also.

"The masks have changed but the face is still the same: almost 20 years after Slipknot emerged as leading members of the Nu-Metal movement in America, they are still brutal, nihilistic and completely relentless. And, as their British tour is proving, there is no less drive or ambition in their performance or attitude."

Slipknot, Volbeat, Gojira & Behemoth at Pavilion at Montage Mountain

Slipknot’s return to the road comes after a one-year break, during which time vocalist Corey Taylor has been devoting his time to Stone Sour and other side projects. “Obviously I’ve been doing my thing, but the band just got together and started writing some of the most incredible music that I’ve ever heard,” the singer said in an interview, enthusing about the work of his fellow band mates. “It was so good and so inspiring to me, that I just sat right down and wrote basically everything that I was feeling.”

And the result was “All Out Life,” a song that showcases the darker, more aggressive direction that the band has taken with the new album – and this single is just the tip of the iceberg. Are you ready to experience the heaviest Slipknot yet, LIVE in concert with Gojira, Behemoth, and Volbeat?? Slipknot Announce First Batch of 2021 Tour Dates

Slipknot have revealed a slate of tour dates across Europe for summer 2021, as evidenced on the band's official website and in a recent announcement from the group on social media . The band will also be stopping by Mexico and Brazil in December 2021 and Japan in 2022.

But the European trek will be the first time they return to the road in full force since the coronavirus pandemic upended tours worldwide . Seven months ago, Slipknot canceled their summer 2020 plans due to the health crisis, saying they'd reschedule "when everyone's safety can be assured."

See the new dates down toward the bottom of this post.

"Slipknot's summer 2020 touring, including the North American Knotfest Roadshow … will not be happening," the group explained in a statement from May. "The band looks forward to performing for its fans again."

In July, Slipknot also paused Knotfest at Sea " for the foreseeable future ." And, just last week, Knotfest Japan was bumped to 2022 . However, in November, the band began teasing 2021  South America Knotfest stops .

Now, it looks like summer 2021 will see the rockers' full touring return.

Slipknot vocalist Corey Taylor recently looked toward the coming year in Slipknot activities, hinting at more concert dates and even a possible new album.

"The plan right now with Slipknot is to try and a) finish up the touring next year, and b) we're thinking about kind of putting another album out maybe next year," Taylor said (transcription via Blabbermouth ) as a guest on the " Good Company " podcast with Scott Bowling.

The masked metal act's sixth studio effort, We Are Not Your Kind , arrived in August 2019.

The American heavy metalers, Slipknot hardly need an introduction as one of the biggest names not just in the genre, but across the board of all music! Hailing from Des Moines, Iowa – the group have stunned audiences around the world with their groundbreaking and instantly recognisable image.

First founded all the way back in 1995, Slipknot began their career and rose to fame in 1999 with their debut release, but it wasn't until their 2001 record lowa that they exploded on the scene. The running up to the release, many describe the atmosphere to be intense as fans were glued to their every move to see what would come next!

Iowa was an instant hit, as it took to the top ten charts in nine different countries just after it's release and gained nothing but positive feedback from Slipknot fans and critics alike. Iowa spawned singles such as; "Disasterpiece", "The Heretic Anthem", "People = Shit" as well as the Grammy-nominated "Left Behind" and "My Plague". The album has been described as one of their heaviest to date and reached platinum success in the US and Canada. As well as the soundscape it contains, it's also their longest album to date of 66 minutes in total.

Slipknot's live performances have become just as famous as their music, with their epic shows of costume and chaos which has become their trademark. The first evolution came with the member Shawn turning up to rehearsals with his clown mask and the idea for their look was quickly molded into something that would add to the experience of seeing Slipknot in their music videos and live in concert. The entire band simultaneously followed in the same footsteps and together they expressed their dedication to standing out from the crowd and keeping their anti-fitting in appearance.

Come and grab the chance to see Slipknot LIVE as they hit the road this coming Summer – there's no time like the present!

Slipknot announce 2021 European tour dates

Slipknot to play Germany, France and Russia – but no UK or Ireland shows yet

Slipknot

Slipknot have announced a European tour for summer 2021.

The tour begins at Moscow’s Park Live Festival on July 16, 2021 and runs through to August 19.

It includes dates in Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaira, Greece, Austria, Czech Republic, Germany and Sweden, but no UK or Ireland dates.

The shows include several festival appearances, including an appearance at Wacken , plus a number of indoor shows. Check out the full tour below.

Late last year Slipknot announced the inaugural UK Knotfest , which was due to take place at the The National Bowl in Milton Keynes on August 22. Like so many other events it fell victim to 2020's cruel adventure, as did the Knotfest At Sea cruse. Also slated for August 2020, it was initially postponed until August 21 before being postponed a second time , "for the foreseeable future."

Frontman Corey Taylor recently said that Slipknot may release the follow-up to We Are Not Your Kind next year.

Speaking to Good Company With Bowling , the singer said the band were considering putting out a new album in 2021.

“The plan right now with Slipknot is to try and a, finish up the touring next year, and b, we’re thinking about kind of putting another album out maybe next year,” said the singer.

“But I don’t know. I don’t know what the plan is yet. I just know that we all kind of feel like there’s unfinished business and we wanna finish that out before we do anything. But I know that we were talking about doing it, ’cause we only have one album left on our contract [with label Roadrunner].”

The turntablist for heavy metal band Slipknot is recovering after suffering burns in an accident, the music group has announced.

In a social media post on Slipknot’s official Instagram page on Friday, the group wrote its “brother Sid Wilson was in an accident today and sustained burns across his body.”

“He’s recovering with his family and will still join us on stage at Rocklahoma next weekend,” the statement continued. “He thanks everyone for the well wishes, and will see you all soon.”

On Wilson’s own Instagram page, he shared video posts from the hospital . In the first, he said he “had an explosion in my face.” He also said he is “singed everywhere,” mentioning his eyebrows, mouth, face and arms were affected.

He also said, “I’m going to be alright. I don’t care what it takes, I’ll see you on tour,” and his burns “sting a lot.”

In a subsequent video from an ambulance on the way to a different hospital with a burn center on Friday, he told his followers he will probably need to have his head shaved to ensure there are no other burns there. He again said he is “going to be OK” and he is “in good hands.”

Wilson said in the second clip that the accident was “not from a show” but was from him “out working on the farm.” He provided no other details. Toward the end, he urged his followers to “be really safe when you’re messing with fire.”

Slipknot

Wilson’s partner, Kelly Osbourne, also shared footage from the hospital, where she was watching their son.

“He literally set himself on fire and exploded everything,” Osbourne said in an Instagram story.

She later thanked followers for their support and said she was on her way to pick Wilson up from the hospital.

Various angles from the videos shared by both Wilson and Osbourne showed his arms and hands wrapped in heavy bandages.

Slipknot is slated to appear next at the Rocklahoma festival in Pryor, Oklahoma, from Aug. 30 to Sept. 1. They'll return to central Iowa on Saturday, Sept. 21, for Knotfest at Water Works Park in Des Moines .
