Emmerdale - The Tour & NEW Studio Experience breaks now on sale!

Emmerdale tours   are proving to be extremely popular as fans of TV series fall in love with the characters and wish to visit the   places featured on screen. 'Emmerdale' filming location tours are no exception with thousands of people descending upon the newly opened set in the grounds of the Harewood House Estate and the former filming location in Esholt, Yorkshire. NEW for 2016, Emmerdale - The Studio Experience at which visitors can enjoy full-scale set reconstructions and more. 

Emmerdale – The Tour

The new ‘ Emmerdale – The Tour ’ attraction first opened its doors to the public in 2015, allowing visitors to tread the tarmac and enjoy a fully guided tour of the fictional village. Visitors can see the stone clad homes and shops nestled amongst the rolling Yorkshire hills and see familiar haunts including Home Farm, The Woolpack, the Church and Bob’s Café.

Emmerdale – The Studio Experience

In 2016, the Emmerdale Studio Experience  openined, allowing fans to get even closer to their favourite soap. The tour allows visitors to enjoy full-scale set reconstrictions, hear about past storylines and tales from behind the scenes and more. 

Emmerdale Filming Location Tours

Original location filming of 'Emmerdale' took place in the village of   Arncliffe in Littondale   which is one of the less visited valleys of the   Yorkshire Dales . In 1976, as more and more people began to realise where filming took place, they decided to move to   Esholt where it remained for 22 years. This beautiful village soon became a tourist attraction with fans from all over the world descending on Esholt to see the villages and to have a drink in the village pub which was formerly The Commercial Hotel and was renamed   The Woolpack Inn . Esholt is one of the many places you will visit when you join an 'Emmerdale' filming location tour, where if there is time, you can have a drink in The Woolpack.

The majority of location footage also takes place in areas of West Yorkshire such as the   fictional market town of 'Hotten'   which is actually shot in   Otley  located on the outskirts of Leeds.  The beautiful town of Otley is another location that you will be able to visit on   'Emmerdale' filming location tours . Since 1998, filming for 'Emmerdale' takes place on a   purpose-built closed set on the Harewood Estate.

Tours start from only £119 per person   and each 'Emmerdale' filming location tour package includes: return coach travel, accommodation, meals and an exciting touring itinerary.

By’eck Ma, it’s parky out! What you need to know about your ‘Emmerdale’ Location Tour 

What do I wear? You will predominantly be exploring the countryside so good footwear is a necessity. You may also need waterproofs, maybe wellies and warm clothing unless you visit when the British weather is behaving itself!

What to take with you? A camera so you can take snaps of yourself by the various famous locations. A brolly just in case the heavens open.

Will I be visiting the actual set? Unfortunately, as filming now takes place on a closed set, you will be visiting the original locations dotted around West Yorkshire such as the market towns of Otley and Esholt.

What will I see on the tour? Most of the outdoor filming of ‘Emmerdale’ took place in Esholt between 1976 and 1996. ‘The Woolpack’ and surrounding cottages are still instantly recognisable. You’ll then continue to Otley which featured as ‘Hotton’ in the TV series. Most tours also feature visits to Holmfirth (the setting for ‘Last of the Summer Wine’) and Goathland which was used as ‘Aidensfield’ in ‘Heartbeat’.

Will there be opportunities to explore? You will have the chance to get off the coach on several occasions to stretch your legs, take pictures and see the locations up close.

Are there any catering facilities? There are plenty of pubs, restaurants and cafes in both Otley and Esholt. You can also nip into the Inn formerly ‘The Woolpack’ for a pint if there is time. Should you wish, you could also pack a small picnic if you’re looking to save some pennies!

Can I take photos? Yes you can but those that are taken must be for personal use only.

When is the best time to visit? With the Dales it is the luck of the draw where the weather is concerned, it could snow, rain or be brilliant sunshine – you can never tell! April/May are nice months to visit as spring is in full bloom. Summer should be hot & sunny but it can also be a washout. Might be best to avoid autumn & winter as the weather really does turn nasty!

What if I am in a wheelchair? There is a fair amount of walking required especially if you wish to explore the locations featured in ‘Emmerdale’. The Yorkshire Dales can be quite uneven so if you’re unsteady on your pins, it might be best to avoid this tour or remain on the coach when others are exploring.

How to get there: All coach packages will include transfers directly to the venue. The dales are on the outskirts of Leeds and are easily accessible to cars by taking the A65 or A6038. The nearest train station is Guiseley, however it is a 30 minute walk so it may be advisable to take a taxi.

ITV announces The Emmerdale Village Tour experience opening this summer

ITV has announced that members of the public will be able to visit the Emmerdale village set for guided tours this summer.

During the 90-minute long tour, visitors will see exterior sets of The Woolpack, Cafe Mainstreet and David’s Shop and get to take photos with a surprise member of the Emmerdale cast.

There is also the chance to embark on the Coronation Street Experience, which offers fans access to replica sets, historic props and costumes from the long-running ITV soap.

Talking about the summer tours, Neil Curry, guest experience manager from Continuum Attractions said: “Our guests tell us they want to get as close to the shows as possible, they also say that meeting the cast is one of their all time ‘bucket list wishes’, so we thought we’d turn the summer into a soap meet and greet spectacular!

“It’s genuinely the best fun to see the surprise and excitement when our visitors come face to face with one of their favourite cast members on the actual set where they work.”

James Penfold, ITV’s controller commercial, brand licensing added: “We’re really excited to say that some of the biggest names on our shows will be waiting to say ‘hi’ to those lucky enough to get these tickets.

British soap Emmerdale is set in Yorkshire and filming takes place at Harewood House Estate, which is owned by The Earl and Countess of Harewood.

The village set sits close to Leeds and the interior scenes are usually shot at Leeds Studios.

Tickets are now on sale and the Coronation Street tours will run every weekend from July 22 up until September 3, while the Emmerdale tours will run from July 29.

Caleb executes his plan to double-cross a dangerous Emmerdale villager – and may regret it

Caleb Miligan ( William Ash ) is currently a man on a mission in Emmerdale , as he once again sets his sights on ruining Kim Tate ( Claire King )’s life. The last time he tried to destroy Kim he used his son Nicky (Lewis Cope) as an accomplice .

This time he’s gone into partnership with Jai Sharma ( Chris Bisson ) and in Tuesday (August 27)’s episode Caleb proved more than ready to double cross Jai. 

The two men are planning to buy some land and build up an empire to rival that of Kim Tate and Will Taylor ( Dean Andrews ) by setting up a haulage firm that will drive Will out of business.  

Caleb has persuaded Jai to invest in this scheme , which he’s been happy to do because it helps to hide his assets from Laurel Thomas ( Charlotte Bellamy ), who is divorcing him, and Caleb has promised a huge return on his investment. In this episode, Caleb wanted more cash.

He said that their planning application had hit a snag. Fixing it would involve bribing his contact at the council with £20k more – so he asked Jai for half that. 

Luckily Jai happened to have £10k in cash in his pocket at that very moment, as Dawn Taylor ( Olivia Bromley ) had just given him six months’ rent in advance for Holdgate. Reluctantly he handed it over to Caleb. 

And he accompanied it with a threat. ‘I’m not a man to be messed with, Caleb. Try it again, you’ll find out.’ 

We know that Jai is more than capable of carrying out this threat, as his ruthless behaviour in dealing with his father Amit (Anil Goutam) proved. He imprisoned and tortured Amit, blackmailed Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) and swindled his own brother Suni (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana) out of his inheritance – all apparently without a guilty conscience.

His treatment of Laurel over the divorce has also shown that Jai will do anything to protect his own selfish needs. 

He may have met his match in Caleb, though, as we later saw Caleb counting out the cash, and it became obvious that the story about the planning application had been a lie. Ruby Fox-Miligan ( Beth Cordingly ) was pleased to see so much loose change as she felt the need of a spending spree at Harvey Nicks. 

Caleb said he needed every penny to buy the haulage yard. ‘If they ever decide to sell,’ Ruby cautioned. Caleb said that everything was in place and as soon as he was done they’d be ‘glad to get rid.’ 

Ruby felt a little bit sorry for Jimmy King ( Nick Miles ), who’d lose his livelihood, but none at all for Will.

Later, Caleb told Ruby he needed her to be at home because she might have to be an alibi for him. Then he headed to the haulage yard and we saw him sabotaging one of the vehicles by pouring something into the petrol tank. 

The haulage yard have had a run of bad luck recently , with deliveries going missing and a fine following an inspection – and Caleb was behind all of them.  

He is playing a dangerous game. As well as going head-to-head against Will Taylor, who is capable of some ruthless actions himself, Caleb could face even more trouble from the man he’s relying on as a business partner. 

If Jai realises that Caleb has been treating him like a fool, all bets are off.

Claire King Wows the Crowd at Latest ‘An Audience with…’ Event!

What an incredible evening at Weetwood Hall in Leeds! Fans were treated to a truly special night with the one and only Claire King, the iconic Kim Tate from Emmerdale.

For over 30 years Claire has brought Kim Tate to life and she shared her amazing journey with us all at our latest ‘An Audience with…’ event. Hosted by the fabulous Sharon Marshall, the night was filled with behind-the-scenes stories, heartfelt moments, and plenty of laughs.

Claire said “It has been an extraordinary evening looking back over all these years and watching all those scenes whilst sitting with such a huge group of people who probably know more about ‘Kim Tate’ than I do! Evenings like this are rare and it was an absolute joy to step away from the studios and spend this time with the show’s fans. Let’s face it, without them none of us would be able to do what we love, bringing our characters into their living rooms every single week. It was a night to remember for a very long time ”

The packed-out event also featured a lively Q&A session where fans had the chance to ask Claire their burning questions. Plus, our premium ticket holders enjoyed an exclusive photo session with Claire and received autographs, leaving each of them with a smile.

It was a night to remember, and we couldn’t be happier to have shared it with such enthusiastic fans. Thanks for making it unforgettable!
