Lakshadweep Samudram is a Five-days cruise to visit the islands of Kavaratti, Kalpeni and Minicoy by ship- M.V Kavaratti. The island is surrounded by a shallow lagoon enclosed by coral reef. It has been ranked among the best getaways of the world. A matchless sense of well-being takes over and one begins to discover the graceful fishers, porcupines, parrots, Pufferfishes, Hermit Crabs and Seabirds on the vast 120 acres of lush coconut groves in Bangaram. Thinnakara island is situated just opposite side of Bangaram island and share the vast lagoon and coralline banks, the actual lagoon area amounts to 125.21 Sq kms. On the north-south edge of the lagoon Parali i, Parali ii, Parali iii and Kalpitty are situated. Thinnakara is a tiny teardrop shaped island which lies 8 km northeast from Agatti. The panorama encompasses magnificent lagoons, sylvan sea shores, sun drenched sand and the enchantment of swaying palms, spectacular marine flora and fauna. Watersports crafts like kayaks, glass bottomed boats are available here. You can play beach volleyball and there are vast beach for sunbath.

Cancellation Policy

• 10% cancellation charge will be deducted if the booking is cancelled 30 days before departure of the ship.
• 25% cancellation charge will be deducted if the booking is cancelled between 29th to 7th days before departure of the ship.
• No refund if cancelled within 7 days before the departure of the ship.

Refund Policy

• 100% refund if the schedule is cancelled due to unfavorable weather conditions and/or other unexpected technical faults. No damages/claims will be payable except money paid by them.

Terms & Conditions

• Consumption of liquor is prohibited in Lakshadweep.
• Program / Schedule of ship is liable to be changed / cancelled without prior notice. Ships are operated by Lakshadweep Administration. In case of a change in the ship schedule liability of SPORTS is restricted to transporting the tourists back to Cochin by immediate available conveyance of the ship only.

For bookings with travel dates within 10 days and booking above 4 persons, 100% advance payment has to be made.

How to Book VIP Quota Seats in Samudram Package 2021?

Cost of VIP/ Tatkal Quota ( Diamond class only)  : Rs. 35000/ Adult & Rs. 27000/ Child ( 1-10 years).

Apply with filled application form and 10% Advance. Final chart will be prepared between 60-15 days prior to travel date. If customer gets the confirmation will be intimated once the chart is prepared and has to pay balance 90% amount within next 24 hrs to get the tickets. If customer is not selected after final chart preparation remitted 10% advance will be refunded within next 2 working days.

How to Book Waiting List Seats in Samudram Package 2021?

Some Specially reserved un booked tickets  if any kept by administration will be released to agents quota 10 to 12 days before the travel date. So Customers do have a chance to get such tickets at last moments by registering under waiting list tickets with travel agents. Samudram Package Passengers can avail an LTC/ LTA certificate from SPORTS (Government of India) for an equivalent amount of Rs. 18000 + 5% GST / adult (Rs. 14000+ 5% Tax for kids) for Diamond Class  and Rs. 12000 + 5% GST / adult (Rs. 10000+ 5% Tax for kids) in Gold Class . They can submit with their working company (both private and government) and re reimburse the same amount if the firm gives LTC/ LTA for the employees.

What is the difference between Diamond Class and Gold Class in Samudram Package?

Many passengers ask the same question. Actually, Diamond class refers to the first class cabin in ship with maximum 2 members per cabin. These first class cabins are in 4 th  and 5 th  deck of the ship. Whereas the Gold class refers to the second class cabin in ship with maximum 4 members per cabin. These first class cabins are in 3rd deck of the ship. Both class cabins will have an attached toilet. 84 cabins are available for Diamond class with 168 seats and only 3 cabins with 12 seats are available for Gold class and hence the availability for Gold class will be very tight always. Also Gold class cabins are small and crowded compared to Diamond class. Rest all the package facilities are same for Diamond and Gold classes.

Ship will reach Kalpeni Island early in the morning. It is located between 10° 05° North Latitudes and 73° 39°East Longitudes and is 287 km from Kochi. Also known as Koefaini, Kalpeni islands is a group of three islands and is one of the most picturesque areas of Lakshadweep. Cheriyam, Pitti and Tillakkam are the islands which together forms the Kalpeni islands. These islands are inhabited and are frequently visited by tourists.

A peculiar feature of Kalpeni is a huge storm bank of coral debris along its eastern and southeastern shorelines. Beautiful lagoon surrounding the island and is rich in coral life. Ship will reach Kalpeni Island school. This is also a great spot to enjoy water sports including Scuba Diving, Snorkeling, Reef walking, canoeing, kayaking and sailing yachts.

At Koomel Beach, the huts with changing rooms for bathing are available. A nonstop entertainment ashore in Kalpeni Island. Lunch will be served followed by Folk dance will be performed at 15:30. Evening tea, Departure time at 19:30, 20:30 Dinner on board.

What is a typical Itinerary?

The boarding of the ship starts around 10 AM from Kochi Wharf. Once on board, you you will check-in to your respective cabin or couple. Around 2 PM, the ship starts from Kochi. 

When the passengers have settled in the evening, you will enjoy entertainment shows on board. It shows the history of Lakshadweep to the tourists via a short film. Through this, you will be informed about the flora and fauna of the islands, coral reefs, and its management. The short film will also talk about the ban on picking up corals, using plastics and ways to keep the islands clean. What are the islands covered in Samudram Cruise?

Typically, this is a 5-day trip. On the first day, you get onboard from Kochi and set out for the islands. On the last day, you return to Kochi in the morning. You visit 3 exotic islands of Lakshadweep in the 3 days in between. YOu visit 3 of the 4 islands – Minicoy, Kavaratti, Kadmat and Kalpeni. 

The Minicoy Island is supposed to be the most beautiful Island in the Lakshadweep. Its lagoon is very famous. Here, you can enjoy a lot of water sports like kayaking, deep sea swimming and take scuba diving lessons. Another point of observation is the lighthouse on the island. 

In Kavaratti, the beautiful and calm lagoon offers an ideal spot for water sports, swimming and snorkeling. Sunbathing or just lazing around on the beach can be a heady experience. If you are a marine life enthusiast, you can visit the marine aquarium. It has an excellent collection of aquatic specimens. 

Beside the water sports activities, in Kalpeni island, one can just relax and sunbathe on this island. This island also has a lighthouse, which is 37 meter in height and offers a beautiful view. You can also enjoy folk dances on this island.

While in Kadmat, the reefs are the main crowd puller here. In fact, sailing is widely done by visitors. The other attraction being the long sandy beaches and sand banks on the southern tip. What are the facilities in the Cruise?

The ship offers 150 first class berths, with two in each room. The Lakshadweep cruise accommodates up to 700 passengers. All the breakfasts and dinners are served aboard, including the lunch on the first day. Though it is not a cruise liner like those of Star Cruise, it is nevertheless very cozy and comfortable one.

What activities can I do during the Trip?

You can do a lot of water sport activities in each of the islands. Snorkelling, diving, canoeing, glass-bottomed boats, village walk and lazing on the beaches are some of the activities you can indulge in. The rich marine life – live corals and colorful corals are some of the main attractions when you are on the islands. The turquoise green waters and white sand are a feast to the eyes. You have the entire day on the islands and the world is yours then!

It is a progressive island. It was in this island that girls first went to school, when women's education was considered a taboo. Here, one can swim, reef-walk or water sport on kayaks, sail boat and pedal boat. A visit to the Baniyan Factory and the Light House is also included in the day's program. Minicoy Location: 8'-17* North Latitude and 73'-04* east Longitude, located 398 kms. from Cochin. It is about 10.6 Kms. long: it is the second largest island, the first being ANDROTT. It is the southernmost island in Lakshadweep, crescent shaped and has one of the largest lagoons. Viringili is the small islet that can be seen on the south. MINICOY is set apart from the northern group of islands by its culture: the islanders are employed as seamen in ocean going vessels the world over. Samudram Package Schedule for May 2024

The package is 4 Nights and 5 Days. Nights on board. Visiting 3 islands are Kavaratti, Kalpeni and Minicoy.

The embarkation is at Lakshadweep Passenger Center, Wellington Island, Cochin from 09:00am to 10:00am.

. There you get through - Collecting tickets, Checking In, Security check etc. Should be aware that no alcohol is allowed to be carried or consumed on this cruise. Let the company take our luggage on board, and it will be at our cabin.

MV Kavaratti is a passenger ship which departs from Kochi to the island and between the islands. During the day, it drops the 'tourists' off at the tourist resort islands. The ship is clean and well maintained. The cabins are comfort size with air-conditioned and ensuite bathroom.

The meals on board are tasty. The filtered water is safe to drink. The tea is always sweetened.

The tourists visit three islands in turn. Kavaratti, Kalpeni Minicoy in that order - but the order does change. The schedule of the day is similar in each day: 7 am breakfast (6.30 am sweetened tea), then don life jackets (provided in the cabin) to jump onto the launches which take you to the island shore. Back on the launches between 4-5 pm and dinner at 7.30 pm on board.

Every day is full of experience. Once back on MV Kavaratti you just take a shower, eat your evening meal, and then relax. Catch another island by the next day. The lack of 'luxury cruise ship' amenities is immaterial because of the excitement of each island visit. On the final day, we will be back to Cochin at 12 pm.

Day 1 Departure from Kochi

Boarding time will start 9:00 am. Please be in patient while in queue for check in, All Passengers including children's mandatory to carry photo ID cards. After the security check in, you will be transported by bus to Wharf and board to MV Kavaratti. A short instructional video show also will be screened depicting the various facilities available on board the ship and about the rules and regulations to be followed by the tourists on board for their own safety and for the safety of co-passengers.

Kavaratti Island:  Located 404 kms. From Cochin. It has been the headquarters of the U.T Administration since 1964. You have enough time to explore the island. The beautiful calm lagoon forms an ideal spot for water sports, swimming and basking on warm sandy beaches. Marine life exhibits can be seen at the new MARINE AQUARIUM which has an excellent collection of specimens.

Kalpeni Island:  Located 287 kms. from Cochin. It is known for its Scenic beauty and the small islets called Tilakkam and Pitti and an uninhabited island on the north called Cheriyam. A huge shallow lagoon encloses all of them. A peculiar feature of KALPENI atoll is the huge storm bank of coral debris along the eastern and south-eastern shorelines. Here, one can swim, reef-walk or water sport on kayaks, sail boats and pedal boats. A visit to the Banian Factory and the Light House is also included in the day's program.

Minicoy Island:  Located 398 kms. from Cochin. It is about 10.6 Kms. long: it is the second largest island. It is the southernmost island in Lakshadweep, crescent shaped and has one of the largest lagoons. Viringili is the small islet that can be seen in the south. MINICOY is set apart from the northern group of islands by its culture. The LightHouse of the island is one of the oldest and was constructed in 1885. One can visit the villages, tuna canning factory, the lighthouse and go for a long drive through dense coconut groves and winding village roads. The beaches have bathing huts and change rooms. So swim and beach walk, Pedal boat, Kayak and Sail.

Lakshadweep Samudram is a Five-day cruise to visit the islands of Agatti, Kalpeni and Minicoy by ship- M.V. Kavaratti. The island tour is organized during the day with lunch and refreshments ashore. Nights are spent on board the ship M.V. Kavaratti has 172 Diamond class & 12 Gold Class accommodations. Swimming, snorkeling and other water sports are arranged during the day' tour.

Kavaratti Island

Location: 10'-33* North Latitude and 72' -38* East Longitude, located 404 kms. from Cochin. It is the headquarters of the U.T Administration since 1964. You have enough time to explore the island. The beautiful calm lagoon forms an ideal spot for water sports, swimming and basking on warm sandy beaches. Marine life exhibits can be seen at the new MARINE AQUARIUM which has excellent collection of specimens.

Do not bother if you are not a good swimmer, we have made viewing the exotic underwater world easier for you through our glass bottomed boats. The Dolphin Dive Center is another attraction for water sports enthusiasts. The Dolphin Dive Center is another attraction for water sports enthusiasts.(Tourists availing 'Taratashi' package to KAVARATI stay in the tourist huts at the tourist complex. One can also visit KAVARATTI in Taratashi packages.) Location: 10'-05* North Latitude and 73'-39* East Longitude, located 287 kms. from Cochin.

It is a progressive island. It was in this island that girls first went to school, when women's education was considered a taboo. Location: 8'-17* North Latitude and 73'-04* east Longitude, located 398 kms. from Cochin.

Viringili is the small islet that can be seen on the south. MINICOY is set apart from the northern group of islands by its culture: the islanders are employed as seamen in ocean going vessels the world over.

The island has a systematically arranged village system known as 'Avah'. Each avah is a cluster of houses which is headed by an elected elderly man called Bodukaka. Traditionally all powers to manage village affairs are vested in him.

Each village has a village house beautifully decorated and maintained. Mahl is the spoken language. MINICOY is an important centre for tuna fishing.

The Light House of the island is one of the oldest and was constructed in 1885. One can visit the villages, tuna canning factory, the light house and go for a long drive through dense coconut groves and winding village roads. The beaches have bathing huts and change rooms. So swim and beach walk, Pedal boat, Kayak and Sail. Three Tourist Cottages and a Twenty Bedded Tourist Home have been constructed for the staying tourists.

• All Passengers to hold a valid identity card ( Voters ID / Passport / Driving License)
• The reporting time is 09.30 am. At First Floor, Lakshadweep Wharf, Opp. FCI Gowdon Willingdon Island, Kochi-3
• Covid-19 negativity certificate (RT-PCR) obtained 48 prior to the travel.
• The scheduled ship departure time is 02.00 pm, however the exact time of departure may vary.
• While on the ship, a representative of SPORTS has been specially designated to assist you. In case of any difficulty, please avail of his services.
• Please note that ships cannot dock at the islands. The facility to dock the ship is not available on all islands.
• The passengers will be transferred into boats, which will take them to the island.
• The person availing the ship packages should be in sound health.
• Avoid usage of plastic on the islands.
• Please carry sunscreen lotion, umbrellas, caps, etc. as it may be very hot.
• Carry a first-aid kit as per your family’s requirements.
• Carry your special brand cigarettes, cosmetics etc. for use, as only ordinary varieties are available on the islands.
• Do not litter the land or the water.
• Do not pick up corals as souvenirs. It is a punishable offense.
• Do not carry narcotics or drugs. It is prohibited.
• Do not use alcoholic drink, intoxicants while on the islands and on the ship.
• Swimming or sunbathing un-clothed is strictly prohibited.
• Do not go out of your island lagoon without permission of the SPORTS authorities and without a proper escort - it can be risky.
• Do not pluck tender coconuts yourself. The trees are privately owned and unauthorizedplucking of coconuts is a theft
• For the Weekend, Lakshadweep Samundram and Coral Reef packages – as you will be spending the full day on the island. Please carry some extra clothes / towels for wash and Change, as the facility to wash and change is available on the island.
• It is better to arrive one day prior to departure from Cochin to avoid last minute delays.
• Mobile: - Only BSNL has range on the islands. Kavaratti and Agatti Airtel available.

CANCELLATION POLICY

• 30% cancellation charge will be deducted if the booking is cancelled 30 days before departure of the ship.
• 45% cancellation charge will be deducted if the booking is cancelled between 29th to 10th days before departure of the ship.
• No refund if cancelled within 10 days before the departure of the ship.

REFUND POLICY

• 100% refund if the schedule is cancelled due to unfavorable weather conditions and/or other unexpected technical faults. No damages/claims will be payable except MONEY paid by them.
• Consumption of liquor is prohibited in Lakshadweep.
• Program / Schedule of ship is liable to be changed / cancelled without prior notice. Ships are operated by Lakshadweep Administration. In case of a change in the ship schedule liability of SPORTS is restricted to transporting the tourists back to Cochin by immediate available conveyance of the ship only.
• Tourists availing LTC may collect LTC certificate room Manager on board at the time of return journey or from our Kochi office on return. Transport and tour change bifurcation is given in the tariff chart.
• Service tax applicable as per the prevailing Govt. Tax rate.
