Glamping kent: 33 amazing places you need to stay at [2024].

Hey, I’m Lucy and I’m a self-proclaimed glamping addict.

I’ve stayed in everything from treehouses to geodomes to shepherds huts, and pretty much everything in-between.

This means I’m well placed to share the best glamping holidays in Kent with you!

If you’re planning a glamping holiday in Kent, you’re making a great decision because there are a whole host of amazing places for you to pick from. And I’m here to share the best of the best with you!

So from treehouses and shepherds huts to bell tents and safari tents, here are 33 amazing glamping holidays in Kent.

1. The Lodge Treehouse

exterior-of-the-lodge-treehouse-with-terrace-glamping-kent

Price per night:  From £190 for 2 people

Location:  Stelling, nr Folkestone

The Lodge Treehouse looks like it was plucked straight out of a fairytale, and if that’s not reason enough to pay it a visit, then I’m not sure what is.

Just imagine your excitement as you first climb those steps towards your magical home amid the trees!

If somehow that thought alone doesn’t have you rushing to book a stay, here are some more reasons: a sumptuous double bed, wall-mounted TV, log burner, seated bar area, coffee machine, power shower, and the best bit of it all, an open-air spa bath.

Go on, book a stay – I know you want to!

What guests say:  “Absolutely gorgeous. Loved it. Beautiful surroundings and all the little details in the treehouse were lovely. A hamper with sausages, bacon, eggs, juice and bubbles. Waking up to Rodney the ram and watching the hens putting themself to bed was so cute. Have very special memories of this place.”

2. Luna Domes

exterior-of-green-luna-domes-geodome-in-woodland-glamping-kent

Price per night:  From £230 for 4 people

Location:  Chiddingstone Hoath, nr Royal Tunbridge Wells

For one of the more unique glamping holidays in Kent, book a stay at Luna Domes .

Set among some pretty picturesque countryside, each dome is surrounded by natural grass plains and woodland, allowing for total peace and privacy.

Inside each dome, you’ll discover all kinds of luxuries, including two floating king-size beds, a private heated bathroom, a Nespresso machine, Wi-Fi, media console, dressing robes and slippers, and a private hot tub!

What guests say:  “Honestly I am obsessed with Luna Domes! You get the true feel of being in nature but with a luxurious feel… the domes are so beautiful inside and out with every single thing thought of. A large fridge, coffee machine with coffee pods… even found a cocktail shaker! Everything had been thought of!”

3. Hut in the Vines

exterior-of-grey-hut-in-the-vines-shepherds-hut-glamping-kent

Price per night:  From £150 for 2 people

Location:  Barham, nr Canterbury

If you’re a sucker for gorgeous interiors, then Hut in the Vines has to be near the top of your glamping holidays in Kent bucket list!

There are way too many amazing things about this hut to mention, so I’ll share just a few of my favourites.

Firstly, it’s set in the back end of their vineyard with the most unreal views. And who doesn’t love a vineyard?

Secondly, just outside your hut, you’ll find a traditional wood-fired hot tub, a BBQ, table-top pizza oven, and an electric wall heater, all lit with festoon lighting.

Finally, you can expect a similar story inside, with a plush wool mattress, wood-burning stove, and en-suite bathroom.

What guests say:   “The hut is a special place, immaculate in its presentation and attention to detail, picture-postcard location, great facilities for your BBQ or making a pizza dinner, a proper fridge for food and champagne storage, lovely complimentary breakfast goods supplied, beautiful hand wash and shower gel.”

4. Elmley Nature Reserve Shepherds Huts

the-saltbox-shepherds-hut-at-elmley-nature-reserve-glamping-kent

Price per night:  From £130 for 2 people and £170 for 4 people

Location:  Elmley, nr Sittingbourne

Elmley Nature Reserve Shepherds Huts have been at the top of my UK glamping bucket list for yeeears now.

And who could blame me when they’re this beautiful?

The nature reserve is home to an impressive six shepherds huts, each as stunning as the last.

The huts range from smaller, more intimate offerings such as the aptly-named Little Owl, all the way to larger huts, such as The Saltbox, arguably the most famous of the lot.

(Though I’d recommend booking a stay in The Damson for its outdoor bath!)

As you can probably tell, a stay here is already very special as it is, but you can make it even better by ordering hampers right to your hut!

What guests say:  “Saltbox is so beautifully designed and positioned; it comes complete with incredibly comfy bed, lovely hot shower, well equipped compact kitchen and an uninterrupted view across the marshland. Outside you are provided with your own fire bowl, a bucket of wood (as well as a jar of marshmallows for toasting!)”

5. Elmley Nature Reserve Bell Tents

woodland-bell-tent-at-elmley-nature-reserve-glamping-kent

If Elmley Nature Reserve has caught your eye, but you fancy getting a little closer to nature, why not consider a stay in one of their Bell Tents ?

There’s something to suit every taste, whether you fancy sleeping in woodland or a meadow.

If you choose the former, you’ll get to enjoy electricity, your own private swing, and views across the reserve to the estuary.

However, if you opt for the latter, you’ll get to wake up to beautiful sunrises and spectacular views across the marsh.

Either way, you’ll still benefit from comfy double beds, and loos not too far away.

What guests say:   “It was such a relaxing and peaceful stay! The nature walks through the marshes were beautiful, we saw lots of wildlife (birds, hares, a hedgehog!), our tent was cosy and comfortable, everything we needed was provided. It was so convenient to be able to cook our own meals on the barbecue, but also order a supper hamper for a rainy night.”

6. Sandy Toes Beach House

sandy-toes-beach-house-at-shellbeach-house

Price per night:  From £285 for 5 people

Location:  Leysdown-on-Sea, Isle of Sheppey

This one’s for the beach bums and water babies among us!

Okay, it might not be Hawaii, but you’ll love a stay in Sandy Toes Beach House if you’re happiest by the water.

Situated on the Isle of Sheppey, the beach house enjoys amazing views of the North Kent coast from the height of its stilts and through its wide windows.

Aside from the coast, you can also expect to see fishermen, paddleboarders, and nudists too.

Yep, that’s right, about 150m down the sand to the right, there’s a popular nudist spot.

But if you’re not interested in any of that stuff, you can hunker down inside your spacious, yet cosy, house.

What guests say:  “We immediately felt welcome and relaxed. It’s truly off the grid but super cosy. We spent the days walking in the neighbouring nature reserve, beachcombing, slow cooking, bird watching and teaching the kids to play backgammon. But mostly, we just looked at the phenomenal view – the huge skies and changing tides meant that it constantly refreshed.”

7. Greenhill Glamping Shepherds Huts

grey-greenhill-glamping-shepherds-hut-in-field-glamping-kent

Price per night:  From £140 for 2 people

Location:  South Alkham, nr Dover

How do panoramic views of rolling green fields sound? Good?

Then you need to get yourself down to Greenhill Glamping Shepherds Huts pronto!

The views here really are second-to-none but you have to experience them for yourself to really believe them.

But that’s not the only reason to book a stay here.

Both huts are ridiculously cosy and come complete with a bespoke king-size bed, luxury ensuite, kitchen with a Nespresso coffee machine, and a wood-burning stove.

On top of all this, you can make your stay extra special by booking a breakfast hamper, pack lunch, or mini gift bags!

What guests say:  “We had an amazing time in Ploughman’s retreat. A unique experience in a wonderful setting. The hut has been impeccably restored with every last detail thought of. We had lovely breakfasts outside taking in the view which was a wonderful way to start the day. BBQs over the fire pit and roasting marshmallows while watching the sunset were highlights.”

8. The Enchanted Faraway Tree

round-bed-inside-the-enchanted-faraway-tree-cabin

Price per night:  From £185 for 2 people

Location:  Honey Hill, nr Canterbury

My blog (Faraway Lucy) was named after the Enchanted Faraway Tree book series, so I’m kind of obliged to book a stay in The Enchanted Faraway Tree .

I mean, I can’t complain when it’s this cosy. Just look at that skylight! Think of the stargazing opportunities!

This treehouse is basically romance at its finest, not least because it also benefits from a wood-fired hot tub that you and your loved one can soak in to your heart’s content.

And after you’ve gone for a dip, you can head to the twin outdoor hot water shower to wash yourself off.

What guests say:  “There are no words to describe how beautiful the  Enchanted Faraway Tree is! It surpassed expectations! Left for us was a lovely little welcome bag with lots of lovely treats and they even took the time to put up balloons and a lovely 30th decoration, plus the Prosecco in the fridge was a lovely touch! The place was immaculate and we left feeling so refreshed and relaxed!”

9. Gulliver the Quirky Camper

gulliver-the-quirky-camper-with-outdoor-hot-tub-and-seating

Price per night:  From £175 for 2 people

Situated on the same site as the Enchanted Faraway Tree, you’ll find Gulliver the Quirky Camper .

Now, you may be thinking ‘A camper? I want to stay in more than just a camper for my glamping holiday!’ but please let me assure you that this isn’t just any old camper.

Especially because it benefits from its own private wood-fired hot tub!

It’s also surprisingly spacious inside with a double bed, wood-burning stove and mod cons a-plenty, including a fridge, mini electric oven/grill, and a two ring gas hob.

Plus, there’s even an outdoor TV for you to watch while in the tub.

What guests say:  “We wanted something different from the norm. And  Gulliver the Quirky Camper was just that! On arrival, we were just amazed by how much detail was put into everything, from the rope edging to the little copper pipes housing the wire for the little lights. We were even blessed with a goodie pack of snacks and breakfast bits plus a lovely chilled bottle of Prosecco in the fridge.”

10. Tree House Hideaway

living-and-dining-area-inside-tree-house-hideaway

Price per night:  From £271 for 2 people

Last but absolutely by no means least in our Honey Hill glamping offerings we have Tree House Hideaway .

Sitting six metres off the ground amongst willows, conifers and fruit trees, it’s easy to feel at one with nature here.

But don’t worry because this treehouse is far from camping.

As evidenced in its price tag, Tree House Hideaway is the most luxurious of the lot and is more akin to a small holiday home, if anything.

Expect all sorts of modern luxuries, such as underfloor heating, a SKY TV with a DVD player, a dishwasher, and a private hot tub.

What guests say:  “Below the treehouse was a double swing, two sunbeds, a chimenea and the highlight, a hot tub set in a fairytale rock feature. On entering the treehouse we were surprised at how big and spacious it was. There was a lovely touch with a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge and a complimentary bag of tasty local goodies!”

11. Hedgehog Hall Cabin

hedgehog-hall-cabin-in-field-with-outdoor-seating

Price per night:  From £125 for 2 people

Location:  Paddock, nr Ashford

Hedgehog Hall Cabin may be small but boy does it pack a punch.

Cute, cosy and ridiculously intimate, it’s an ideal romantic getaway for you and your loved one (or, well, anyone you don’t mind getting a little up close and personal with!).

It’s also a great break for wildlife lovers as the eco-farm and surrounding ancient woodland are home to a whole host of animals.

Whether it’s wild deer or red kites, you’re sure to spot all kinds of creatures!

But even if animals aren’t your jam, this cabin is worth a stay in its own right, not least because it benefits from its own eco wood-fired hot tub.

What guests say:  “We had a wonderful stay, loved how the hall was set apart from the other properties on the farm. The hall, kitchen and wood-fired hot tub were well equipped. We had a lovely walk in the woods recommended by the host and had dinner at the local pub one night.”

12. Rose Shepherds Hut

exterior-of-rose-shepherds-hut-with-outdoor-hot-tub

Price per night:  From £100 for 2 adults and 2 children

Location: Paddock, nr Ashford

On the lookout for some amazing hot tub views?

Well, that’s exactly what you’ll get to experience if you book a stay in Rose Shepherds Hut .

Situated on a small organic farm in the heart of the Kent Downs AONB overlooking a swimming lake, the hut enjoys some of the best views of any glamping site in Kent.

The beautiful handmade hut warrants a visit in its own right, thanks to its well-equipped interior, free Wi-Fi, private deck, and charcoal BBQ.

What guests say:  “The setting is idyllic with the woodlands all around and the beautiful lake. I have never seen so many swallows and watching them dive down to the lake while lazing in the hot tub was the most relaxed I have felt in months! The hut has everything you could need and more.”

13. Wheatfields Luxury Safari Tents

wheatfields-luxury-safari-tent-in-field-glamping-kent

Price per night:  From £170 for 8 people

Location:  Rye, nr Hastings

I’ve seen my fair share of safari tents in my time, but not many come close to Wheatfields Luxury Safari Tents , especially the larger of the two tents, Skylark, that even benefits from glass bi-fold doors.

Set on the edge of Romney Marsh, the two spacious tents sleep up to eight people each, making them a great option for families looking to go glamping in Kent.

And with hot showers, wood burners and luxurious bedding, you won’t feel like you’re missing out on the luxuries of home.

What guests say:  “What can I say, this place is amazing. We stayed in Sandpiper and it has everything you could want! It has a beautiful view, a large stylish and spacious interior with the most comfortable beds, a good shower and a fire pit! There’s everything you need for a comfortable stay and the kitchen is well stocked for cooking.”

14. Leeds Castle Knights Glamping Tents

aerial-view-of-leeds-castle-knights-glamping-tents-glamping-kent

Price per night:  From £110 for 2 people (additional children are charged at £25 per child)

Location:  Broomfield, nr Maidstone

Ideal for families with young children, Leeds Castle Knights Glamping Tents will keep the little’uns entertained for hours!

The tents themselves are surprisingly luxurious with a four-poster bed, cosy electric flame effect stove, crisp cotton bedding and snug furry throws.

And on top of all this, there’s also plenty to do on-site too.

Whether you do a falconry experience, Go Ape in the trees, go on a segway tour, or just explore the castle and grounds, there’s plenty to keep you busy.

What guests say:  “Our tent was perfectly positioned with its own decking and felt private. The tent itself is brilliant, inside the four-poster bed was super comfy and warm. Tea and coffee making facilities, bathrobes, hot water bottles and throws. The wood-burning fire and logs were perfect and were definitely needed once the sun went down.”

15. Gooseberry Field Airstream

gooseberry-field-airstream-glamping-kent

Price per night:  From £134 for 2 people

Location:  Pluckley, nr Ashford

Swiftly taking you from the fields of Kent to the deserts of America, Gooseberry Field Airstream will have you living out your American dream in no time.

You know a place is really cool when the accommodation isn’t even the highlight.

And that’s the case with this airstream as it has a private one-of-a-kind Victorian Carriage converted wood-fired hot tub.

I’ve seen a lot of hot tubs in my time, but nothing like this!

However, if the airstream (and its accompanying tub) somehow doesn’t take your fancy, they also have several luxury bell tents on-site for you to choose from.

What guests say:   “We had the most amazing time. The airstream is super lovely inside and out. It includes a toilet, shower, fridge and kettle. Even a spare plug socket to charge your phone, so you can take some awesome photos of the campsite – trust me – you will want to!”

16. Huntingfield Hut

huntingfield-hut-shepherds-hut-in-field-with-bench-glamping-kent

Price per night:  From £100 for 2 people

Who doesn’t want to curl up there with their loved one?

Aside from a very inviting bed, the hut also comprises a little log burner, a kitchenette with an original Georgian saddleback sink, and an en-suite with a nice hot shower.

The hut is secluded enough to enjoy privacy, but has the added benefit of being close enough to the house that you can get warm bacon rolls delivered to your door each morning! Deeee-licious.

What guests say:   “It was romantic, rustic and will be remembered forever. The surrounding area of the grounds was beautiful. Waking up to those views calmed our souls. Our hosts made us feel very welcome. The little personal touches we appreciated, for example, on our arrival the retro radio was on and set to a jazz station and there were wildflowers picked for our table – cute and thoughtful.”

terrace-of-port-lympne-giraffe-lodge-overlooking-giraffes

Location:  Lympne, nr Folkestone

Port Lympne Giraffe Lodges may be the most expensive place to go glamping in Kent, but if you can afford it, it’s worth every penny.

I mean, how many people can say they’ve slept in a lodge with giraffes just parading around outside? Not many, that’s for sure.

With a watering hole right beneath the ten lodges, you couldn’t be closer to the action – and the best bit is that you don’t have to compromise on comfort either.

Every tent has an en-suite, heating, lighting, fluffy towels, and dressing gowns.

Plus, breakfast and dinner are included in the price too!

What guests say:  “I could not fault this place and I am so glad I booked it. If you are looking for a nice relaxing night with awesome food and awesome views this is the stay for you! 20. Rankins Farm Pods

row-of-rankins-farm-glamping-pods-in-field

Price per night:  From £90 for 2 adults and 2 children

You’ve probably seen your fair share of bang average glamping pods in your time but you haven’t seen those at Rankins Farm .

These pods deserve a special shoutout purely thanks to their surroundings.

It’s safe to say they’re pretty good.

The six self-contained glamping pods are surprisingly spacious, comprising a double bed, sofa bed, kitchen and an en-suite bathroom.

And don’t worry about feeling the cold because all the pods are heated with underfloor heating!

What guests say:  “I can’t say anything negative about Rankins Farm. The two hosts are extremely kind and accommodating and genuinely care about their guests. The pods are extremely well equipped, very spacious and the sofa bed is even larger than the actual bed!”

21. Preston Court Bell Tents

preston-court-bell-tent-lit-up-at-night-glamping-kent

Price per night:  From £80 for 6 people

Location:  Preston, nr Canterbury

For one of the cheaper glamping holidays in Kent, book a stay in Preston Court Bell Tents .

With prices starting from just £13 per person a night, you’d be silly not to stay here, especially when the tents are so beautiful.

This 600-acre estate is home to two separate glamping areas: the Glamping Meadow and the Woodland Glade.

Both have their own merits so it all comes down to which area you prefer!

However, you can rest assured that regardless of which area you choose, you can expect proper beds, crisp cotton sheets, snuggly throws, and even better surroundings.

The views at Chegworth Mill Tents are pretty spectacular.

And if good views aren’t enough to warrant booking a stay somewhere then I don’t know what is.

On-site, there are three bell tents to choose from, Freckles Apple, Galmac Apple, and Russet Apples, all named after apples grown in the orchard next door.

Each tent comprises electric mains, heating, a comfy king-size bed and two twin beds, and a private bathroom.

What guests say:  “We highly recommend this glamping site, run by lovely people, they go the extra mile on everything. We had breakfast baskets each morning with eggs from their own chicks and fruit juices made from their own orchard. The tent itself was beautiful! What guests say:  “The safari tent was furnished to a very high standard with lots of classy finishing touches. The welcome hamper was a real treat! Living out your childhood dream is definitely made a lot better when it’s kind to your wallet too!

Located on a 15th-century farmstead, this rustic treehouse benefits from a cosy bed you’ll never want to leave, but maybe the beautiful surroundings may tempt you…

What guests say:  “This a magical and beautiful place to stay. We had a lovely walk into the village, cooked Romney Marsh lamb on the BBQ and stayed out under the stars drinking whisky. We loved the way the tree goes through the room and even has oak leaves growing through and the bed was super comfy.”

free-range-glamping-shepherds-hut-in-field-glamping-kent

Price per night:  From £70 for 2 people and £110 for 4 people

If the photo above doesn’t inspire you to book a stay at Free Range Glamping , I don’t know what will.

But luckily for you, I’ve got a whole host of other reasons to book a stay here, aside from the beautiful surroundings.

Firstly, the site is home to both yurts and shepherds huts, meaning there’s more than one option for you to pick from.

Secondly, all the accommodation is simple but beautifully decorated, so you can get closer to nature without compromising on home comforts.

And lastly – okay you got me – the views are just seriously special!

What guests say:   “We had everything we needed for a fun, relaxing and comfortable stay. The hut is cosy and has good insulation so it was warm on our recent autumn trip. The site is quiet and you have enough space between the huts and yurts so you have privacy. The outdoor shower is a fun experience, especially on a sunny day.”

£14 per person per night? Count me in!

Set on a raised deck with a spacious porch, the safari tent is well-placed to enjoy views of some of Kent’s best countryside.

(However, I’d personally recommend enjoying the views from your campfire after you’ve made your own pizza!)

Inside, the tent is just as well-equipped with plenty of beds to spread yourselves across.

But, if the safari tent somehow doesn’t take your fancy, it’s your lucky day because you also have huts and yurts galore to choose from.

What guests say:  “Stayed in a safari tent which is huge! Lots of little extras like welcome hamper and charging spot for phones. This spot has the most stunning scenery and we even set our alarms to catch the sunrise. The facilities were good. Showers lovely and all was spotless.”

28. Bloomsburys Biddenden Yurts

exterior-of-white-bloomsburys-biddenden-yurt-in-grass

And if that wasn’t enough, you can pay a little bit extra for the added luxuries of a hot tub and sauna!

What guests say:   “When shown to our  yurt , the beautiful, bohemian interior exceeded all expectations! Twinkling fairy lights, encircled the sumptuous bed, creating an ethereal atmosphere. The bed itself was extremely comfortable and the bed linen, crisp and of high quality. Tea and coffee, fridge and washing up facilities were all provided.”

The perfect opportunity to disconnect from modern life, these two boutique vans are set in their own private space, with a separate hut for their bathroom and kitchen.

In each van, you’ll find a double bed with a cosy feather duvet and pillows, a fold-down table and chairs, and plenty of games, books and a pack of cards to keep you entertained.

And the cherry on top of an already very tasty cake is your own private wooden wood-fired hot tub!

Ready for a dip, anyone?

What guests say:   “Everything we needed was provided for us. Literally, just bring food and drink. Loved waking up to the birds in the morning. It was so relaxing we didn’t leave the site for our entire stay. Just what we wanted. The hot tub is a must, we used it every day at least twice a day!”

Glamping Kent: The 10 Best Tents, Pods, and Cabins Southeast of London

Home to medieval castles, coastal villages, idyllic countryside, and the iconic White Cliffs of Dover

Glamping Kent: The 10 Best Tents, Pods, and Cabins Southeast of London

Guest Contributor

Welcome to The Garden of England: The county of Kent, in the southeast of the country, is famous for its beautiful parks, incredible cliffs, and brilliant outdoors, making it the ideal destination for a glamping holiday. The White Cliffs of Dover dominate the coastline to the south with walking trails linking towns and villages along the way, and if you prefer your adventures on two wheels, the North Downs Way has become an incredibly popular bikepacking route.

Set in south east England not far from London, Kent has been a favorite escape for the city's creatives for years, with the beachfront town of Margate, and more recently Ramsgate, being the holiday spots of choice for musicians, actors, and artists. There are other coastal destinations worth a visit, like the medieval Dover Castle or Whitstable for the summer Oyster Festival, and inland, the Middle Ages town of Canterbury draws people in with its UNESCO-protected cathedral and medieval architecture.

But it's when you step away from the crowds and make your way down quiet laneways that you begin to discover another side of Kent. Glamping in this part of the world sees you immersed in the serene countryside from the comfort of well-appointed bell tents, safari tents, shepherd's huts, glamping pods, and more.

The 10 Best Places to Go Glamping in Kent

kent-glamping-guide-luna-domes

Luna Domes – Chiddingstone Hoath, Kent

Vibe: glamp like aristocrats.

The large windows and curved design of these geodome glamping sites draw nature into each living space, creating a 24/7 connection with the outdoors (and the outside world, thanks to on-site wi-fi). It doesn't get much better than doing it on the grounds of an idyllic manor house set in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, too. Here, you can explore Hoath House's meticulously manicured estate gardens that are filled with over 500 types of plants for picture-perfect views throughout the year. Choose from one of four domes dotted across the property, each with its own reason for an extended luxury glamping stay. Kick back in your private hot tub, or venture off to one of the many nearby castles and catch one of the famous jazz nights in nearby Tunbridge Wells.

Rate: £225/two nights

glamping-kent-elham-treehouse

Elham Treehouse – Elham, Kent

Vibe: treetop getaway.

Set on 170 acres and completely surrounded by the incredible Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Elham Treehouse is the place to go to reconnect with nature. There’s no escaping the natural world here; the treehouse is built around three oak trees with the boughs spanning through the living spaces. Team this up with blooming cherry blossom trees outside and you may even consider putting down roots here too. The sylvan style is echoed by the inviting, wooded interiors and rustic furniture, but make no mistake this is a luxury glamping stay. There's a BBQ area outside, and Elham, a traditional village packed with pubs, is only a short walk away while the port town of Folkestone is a short drive.

Rate: £145/night

glamping-kent-finlays-cabin

Finlay’s Cabin at The Nut Plat Retreat – Tonbridge, Kent

Vibe: secluded & slowing down.

The Nut Plat Retreat may only be a 40-minute train ride from London’s Tower Bridge, but you’ll feel a world away from the hectic city pace at this dreamy glamping site by the River Bourne. Finlay’s Cabin, a wooden A-frame structure, is all about getting back to simpler times (there is electricity, but there is no wi-fi). Help yourself to the hazelnuts in the orchard nearby, or even give the farmers a hand with the harvest. Once you’ve had your fill of nuts, fill the rest of your days with ambles through the Kent countryside past herds of cows and flowering fields to the nearest pub for a pint and chat with the regulars and return in time for a campfire or a dip in the wood-fired hot tub. If the A-frame is booked, the property also has a caravan glampsite.

Rate: £180/night

kent-glamping-guide-wheatfields-glamping

Wheatfields – Appledore, Kent

Vibe: farm to tent glamping.

Make memories of a lifetime with a family glamping stay in the heart of the Kent countryside at Wheatfields. The spacious safari tents sleep up to eight people and are perched on the edge of a tranquil pond with Romney Marsh and a working 500-acre family-run farm on site too. Choose from Sandpiper, which has a luxury bell tent for more room, or Skylark, which has more outdoor space. Or, if you have the extended family in tow, book both for a proper private farm glamping getaway (four-legged family members are invited too). Both tents are off-grid, but there are en-suite bathrooms with showers, Wheatfields is a dog-friendly venue with Camber Sands, a three-mile-long beach, a short walk away where your dog can run off the leash during winter. There’s even a choice of dog-friendly pubs nearby for a drink and bowl of water afterwards.

Rate: from £216/night

kent-glamping-guide-the-damson

The Damson at Elmley Nature Reserve – Isle of Sheppey, Kent

Vibe: on island time.

Cross the Kingsferry Bridge to the Isle of Sheppey and transport yourself to the shimmering marshlands by the Swale, a tidal channel separating it from the mainland. Elmley Nature Reserve covers a vast swathe of the Isle of Sheppey, and while it's home to more animals than humans, there are still some top-notch glamping spots here. Choose from bell tents in the meadow, fully furnished cottages, self-contained shepherd's huts, or cabins in the wilderness, but the standout pick is the Damson, a glamping pod that strikes the perfect balance between glamping adventure and flawless design. Make sure you book a dusk tour of the marshlands when its resident birds are at their most active.

Rate: from £245/night

kent-glamping-guide-giraffe-lodge

Giraffe Lodge – Port Lympne, Kent

Vibe: kent gone wild.

One of the most unique glamping options in Kent (and perhaps in the UK) is Giraffe Lodge at Port Lympne, less than 10 minutes from the coast and under two hours from London. The property has luxury safari tents for sleeping and actual safaris to go with them; here, you’ll watch zebras, wildebeest, and giraffes drink from the watering hole in front of your accommodation–don’t worry about getting the perfect shot either, there’s an on-site photography class to help with that. After a day of exploring the African-esque plains of Kent, you’ll fall asleep listening to the animals outside from your lavish king-size bed.

Rate: £525/night full board

kent-glamping-guide-sunninglye-farm

Sunninglye Farm – Tunbridge Wells, Kent

Vibe: wholesome family memories.

Combine a rural holiday with education at Sunninglye Farm, where you can stay and meet the farmers who have been working this land for generations. Their stories highlight how important farming in the region is and will provide a deeper understanding of the land around you. Glamping here is best suited for families with young kids who can explore the farm and meet the sheep, goats, and chickens that help keep the farm ticking over. You’ll stay in a large three-bedroom canvas tent that can sleep up to five adults and one child and is fully decked out with all the creature comforts to make this one of the most comfortable glamping stays in Kent.

Rate: from £450/night

kent-glamping-guide-the-pump-house-icknor-wild-retreat

The Pump House at Icknor Wild Retreat – Sittingbourne, Kent

Vibe: woodland meadow strolls.

Slow down with a relaxing stay in an ancient woodland at Icknor Wild Retreat. There’s a choice of bell tent and shepherd huts here, but the star of the show is the Pump House. This irresistible wood-clad structure is the essence of cozy with its mezzanine bedroom, porthole windows, and outdoor hot tub. This spot is a dream for walkers with over 700 acres of nature nearby at Hucking Estate, where you can walk for days on end. If you need a change from the quiet life, there’s a local pub nearby that’s the perfect tonic.

Rate: from £175/night

kent-glamping-guide-cozy-woodland-lodge

Cozy Woodland Lodge – Maidstone, Kent

Vibe: vintage glamping.

Even when glamping, sometimes the interiors can rival what lies outside, and this might just be the case with Cozy Woodland Lodge. Inside, the space feels almost like stepping into the '70s with the large pendant lamps, a split-level layout, and colorful art on the walls. If you do venture out, take a short walk into the village of Bearsted, a place that people have been calling home for almost 2,000 years, and pick up some supplies at the bakery, deli, and café for an unforgettable picnic back at the lodge. Don’t forget about the hot tub outside or the stargazing window in the bedroom.

Rate: from £500/three nights

kent-glamping-guide-hobbity-treehouse

The Hobitty Treehouse – Blean, Kent

Vibe: woodland fairytale.

The photos of this glamping escape aren't great, but the Hobbity Treehouse is a luxury woodland getaway masquerading as a hideaway from Tolkien’s imagination. Instead of the threat of Mordor at your doorstep, you’ll have two floors packed with luxurious comforts like a hot tub, log burner and king-sized bed. If you manage to peel yourself away from cozying up by the fire pit, Blean Woods Nature Reserve is just a few steps away where you can trod some of the 25-mile-long Big Blean Walk.

Glamping at Gravel Pit Farm – Luxury Safari Tents in Marden, Kent

Price: From £175 / night

Sleeps: up to 6 adults

Location: Marden, Kent

Gravel Pit Farm is so much more than just a glamping site. First and foremost it’s a working farm and home to owners Annabel and Simon. Having raised their own family on the farm they were keen to share their love of the great outdoors and evenings spent around the campfire with a wider audience. After months of research and fine tuning Glamping at Gravel Pit Farm finally opened in June 2019.

safari tent glamping kent

Gravel Pit Farm is found in the pretty village of Marden in Kent. Despite feeling very rural the village is directly connected to London via rail making the farm all the easier to escape to for a weekend getaway. By car the site is also easy to reach thanks to the M20 which can be accessed 25 minutes away at Maidstone. This location also works as an ideal stop over for crossings into Europe at either Folkestone or Dover.

safari tent glamping kent

There are just 2 safari tents at Gravel Pit Farm meaning that the vast space they sit in is pretty much exclusively yours. Both tents sit behind the main farm in a large paddock with wide, sweeping views looking towards big skies. The sun sets directly in front of the decking allowing for long evenings spent on the porch. Annabel explained she chose Clear Sky Safari Tents as they offer fantastic year round safari style accommodation – and are rather conveniently based down the road in Paddock Wood. Annabel has custom designed the interior to include some really unique touches such as the cupboard snug beds (which the children loved!), the four poster bed in the double room and the vintage decor throughout both tents. The result is a luxurious fun space that offers the perfect blend of feeling close to nature whilst maintaining all the comforts of a high end stay.

safari tent glamping kent

Living spaces

Each tent accommodates up to 6 people with interiors made up of 3 bedrooms (one double, 1 twin and 1 double cupboard, snug), there’s also a bathroom with hot shower and flushing toilet and a large kitchen / diner / lounge area. An additional toilet / washroom is available for each tent in a separate out house to allow extra privacy at busy wash times. The tent feels bright and spacious with good quality lighting throughout. There’s also WiFi, fridge, hob and super smart wood burning stove for chilly nights.

safari tent glamping kent

The bedrooms are about as private as you can get under canvas thanks to sturdy sliding door paneling. The double bed is a pretty four poster draped with netting for a real sense of the Serengeti. Next door is a twin – both bedrooms provide ample storage with beds made up with crisp white sheets and additional blankets. The sleeping highlight is definitely the cupboard snug which offers an additional double sleeping space in a magical cupboard adorned with fairy lights. All beds are fitted with electric blankets and there are hot water bottles a plenty to ensure guests are kept toasty through all seasons.

safari tent glamping kent

The tents both have an en suite bathroom with toilet, shower, and sink. Wash products and fluffy towels are provided. There’s a radiator to keep towels warm and dry while keeping the room snug and cosy even on the coldest mornings. Each tent also has it’s own additional toilet and wash space in an external cabin ensuring that guests are guaranteed privacy and free access to facilities as and when needed.

safari tent glamping kent

Outdoor Spaces

The space, views and country living are what really make a stay at Gravel Pit Farm. The space is vast yet safe and enclosed. If cooking al fresco is your thing there’s a dedicated outdoor cooking space with a two-tiered BBQ for each tent. There’s a communal timber covered area next to the BBQ’s making cooking outdoors an option even when it’s wet. The children loved exploring the surrounding fields and bridleways before spending the evening sat around the campfire toasting marshmallows and making s’mores. We, on the other hand were able to sit back and enjoy a glass of bubbles and enjoy their antics, giggling as the evening drew in. Bliss.

safari tent glamping kent

Annabel and Simon are incredibly welcoming inviting guests to help themselves to freshly laid eggs from the hens nesting boxes. The children were fascinated to see the process of choosing an warm egg straight from underneath the hen to eating it 15 minutes later. You can’t get much fresher than that! There’s also horses in an adjoining paddock and the farm dogs pottering about. Dogs are welcome to stay in the tents and are provided with their own ‘Dog Pack’ which includes their own dog bed, bowls, crate and lead.

safari tent glamping kent

We were invited to stay at Gravel Pit Farm at the time of re-opening post lockdown. The adaptations Annabel and Simon have made are obviously there to make both guests and hosts feel safe during their stay, and in all honesty once we were on site we barely noticed the changes. So what has been put in place?

  • Bookings need to be made as a family or bubble group.
  • Adhere to social distancing rules around the hosts and guests outside of your party whilst on site.
  • There is an antibac station at the site entrance. Guests are asked to clean their hands on re-entering the tents.
  • At the end of the stay guests are asked to strip beds and places linen and towels directly into a laundry tub to save cleaning staff from unnecessary exposure.

safari tent glamping kent

We loved our time at Gravel Pit Farm. The accommodation is up there with the best with clear attention to comfort and functional practicalities. The cupboard snug was an absolute highlight for us – it meant that the children felt like this place had been designed for them! They were in their element both indoors and out relishing in the freedom of the wide open spaces and cosy hidey-holes. As adults our stay was about as stress free and easy as it gets. The kitchen and wash facilities meant that nothing was a chore – the kitchen comes fully equipped meaning that if camping style cooking seems a bit much every night there’s a straight forward alternative. To top it off Annabel and Simon are incredibly welcoming and accommodating as hosts. It really makes a difference when you are greeted with open arms and made to feel more like family friends that guests – that’s how we felt at Gravel Pit Farm.

A huge thank you to Annabel and Simon for inviting us the experience a stay at Gravel Pit Farm in exchange for this review. All thoughts and opinions are our own. If you’d like to find out more about Gravel Pit Farm please visit their website here .

Camping near St Petersburg guide

To explore Gulf Coast beaches, waterways, and wildlife near a city with a lively food and arts scene, look no further than St. Petersburg. Set on the western edge of Tampa Bay , St. Petersburg is a few minutes away from public beaches in St. Pete Beach, as well as numerous state park beaches with a more undeveloped and natural feel. These shores are home to dolphins, manatee, and tropical fish, plus hundreds of species of local and migrating birds. Boating, kayaking, fishing, swimming, snorkeling, and shelling are classic St. Petersburg pastimes for campers, but there are hiking and biking trails for land-based adventures too.

Where to go

St. Petersburg Surrounds

Just over the water from St. Petersburg is St. Pete Beach. The entire barrier island has calm beaches where you can watch the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. There are local outfitters for kayak and paddle board rentals, jet skis, and fishing charters throughout this area. For an easy nature getaway in town, the Boyd Hill Nature Preserve can’t be beat. They have a public raptor rescue program, hiking and biking trails, and ample opportunities to spot gators and water birds like herons or the roseate spoonbill in its wetlands.

Fort De Soto Park

For a more natural beach site away from the hotels and condos, check out Fort De Soto Park . This sprawling beach park at the northern mouth of Tampa Bay has fishing piers, boat launches, and a campground on the water.

Honeymoon Island State Park

Honeymoon Island State Park has 4 miles of beach, paved biking routes, hiking trails, and cafes. On-site concessionaires rent kayaks and bikes. When the waves are up, the north end of this park is a popular surf spot.

Caladesi Island State Park

Considered by many to be one of the best white-sand beaches on the Gulf Coast, Caladesi Island State Park is well worth the ferry ride or hike it takes to access. The ferry leaves from Honeymoon Island right off the Dunedin Causeway, while the long, 4.5-mile hike starts at the northern tip of Clearwater Beach.

In general, expect winters in St. Petersburg to be warm and comfortable, while summers trend hot and humid. Camping is possible year-round, but summer campers may get better sleep with a fan or AC, unless you’re tent camping right on the beach to catch the breeze. Rain can occur in St. Petersburg year-round, but is more frequent and heavier in summer. Summer and fall is hurricane season on Florida’s Gulf Coast, so be sure to monitor the National Hurricane Center’s Atlantic forecast during this time.

12 Best Glamping Spots in Florida for Soaking Up Sunshine

Posted by Kristen Arendt February 22, 2021 Updated August 24, 2022

Whether you’re looking for a seaside outing or a quiet spot in the woods, you’ll be able to find it on the Florida peninsula — and you may even get to sleep right on the water.

Florida has a long list of great camping spots to get away from the daily grind. If you’re eager to go camping but don’t want the hassle of pitching a tent — or the annoyance of dealing with bugs, sand, heat, or humidity — upgrading to a glamping experience might be the way to go.

From yurts to treehouses, these places to glamp in Florida will get you into nature without saying goodbye to all the comforts of home.

1. Danville Yurt

florida glamping yurt

Why you should stay: From air conditioning to alpacas, this yurt really has it all.

  • Location: Geneva
  • Minimum stay: 1 night
  • Rates from: $80/night

This spacious yurt easily redefines luxury camping. You don’t often get to kick back and relax under vaulted ceilings in the heat of summer in a tent, but you can here since this great yurt has air conditioning. You even get a private full bathroom and shower — the true definition of glamorous camping.

Situated on a super unique property, your stay at Danville can be equal parts relaxation and adventure. Be sure to visit the resident alpacas or neighboring goats. For an added fee, you can book a horseback ride or bring your hiking boots or running shoes to take a tour on your own. The property is also next to a 500-acre park managed by Seminole County if you want more open space to explore. Or if you’re fine relaxing at camp, fire up the grill and fire pit and enjoy a laid-back afternoon on the porch.

“Very unique! We enjoyed our stay at the Yurt, love the Alpacas and the baby goats. My daughter loved driving the golf cart around the property, definitely worth visiting.” Adriana , Port Saint Lucie, FL

2. Miss Ruby at Saddleback Lake

florida glamping camper

Why you should stay: A lovely lakeside accommodation with just the right retro vibe.

  • Location: Lutz
  • Minimum stay: 2 nights
  • Rates from: $79/night

This fully renovated 1965 camper is the perfect mix of nostalgic touches and updated amenities. Though the exterior of the suitably named Miss Ruby fully looks the part of a vintage “canned ham” trailer, you’ll be impressed by the stylish finish when you step inside. Complete with a small kitchenette, air conditioning, and heat, this little gal is one of the best places to glamp in Florida year-round. You’ll also have access to a private bathhouse just a few steps away.

The trailer is on a beautiful five-acre property with lakefront access. Bring your sunscreen and your swim trunks and head out to the lounge chairs on the dock. Or bring your canoe or kayak for a peaceful paddle around the lake.

3. Treehouse in the Cloud

best florida airbnb rentals

Why you should stay: A dreamy and secluded getaway not too far from Disney World.

  • Location: Saint Cloud
  • Rates from: $150/night

This secluded treehouse is designed to give you a back-to-nature feel, with large windows and a wraparound porch. Though cozy, the thoughtfully laid out interior fits everything you need into its small space, including a full bathroom. The sprawling oak tree provides shade in the summer and lends fairy-tale feel to the treehouse. Snag a carrot out of the fridge to make friends with the neighbor horses; they’re a friendly bunch who complete the pastoral setting.

Saint Cloud is convenient to the big Central Florida attractions such as Disney or Universal Studios, each about 30 minutes away. You can be to the ocean in about an hour or the Gulf of Mexico in two hours. But really, you might just want to slow down and spend the time soaking up the scenery at the treehouse in the clouds.

“This place was so magical!!! Perfect for a quick, romantic, special, unique stay near Orlando.” Kelly , Saint Petersburg, FL

4. Romantic Netted Room at Kokomo Farms

florida glamping gazebo

Why you should stay: Immerse yourself in tranquility at a back-to-basics farm stay.

  • Location: Live Oak
  • Rates from: $74/night

Book this private room on a farm for a romantic and rural getaway. The outdoor room is on the back porch with a netted hanging bed and movie screen. The room is open-air with heavy curtains and louvered doors for privacy. On cold nights, you can snuggle under a heated blanket. And year-round, you’ll enjoy taking in the amazing view of the night sky and waking up to the birds singing at sunrise.

Located on a 20-acre organic farm, the farm and pastures are surrounded by pine trees and live oaks for added privacy. During your stay, you can enjoy the community zen garden, hot tub, and fire pit, or take a stroll through the barnyard to visit the chickens and other farm animals. Hillsborough River State Park Campground

Just minutes from downtown Tampa, this Hillsborough River State Park Camping offers a refuge from city life with its seven miles of nature trails and ample places to cool off in the water.

Except for occasional reenactments, the cannon and guns are now silent at Fort Foster. Besides a living history lesson, visitors can kayak or canoe class II river rapids, rare in Florida, hike seven miles of nature trails and swim in an ADA accessible swimming pool.

Camper-submitted photo from Lithia Springs Conservation Park

Lithia Springs Conservation Park

Well-known for its natural spring which flows year-round, cool, clean water into the Alafia River, the Lithia Springs Park was originally purchased by Gardinier, Inc., a mining company that soon became Mosaic Phosphate, Inc. When the company leased the park to Hillsborough County as a recreational area in 1957, the 160-acre site slowly became a popular camping spot.

After setting up camp, hikers can explore the woodsy trails and its diverse plant communities, river cypress swamps, and hardwood hammocks. But it is the natural spring that serves as the park’s major attraction, which---courtesy of the water’s 72 degree temperature---provides an excellent swimming experience all year long. In addition to swimming, visitors can fish and play volleyball. There is also a bath house for the parents to rest and chat, while their kids can play at the park’s playground.

The park’s 44 camping sites---which is also suitable for RVs---include water/shower and electrical services. The campers also have access to picnic shelters and tables, restrooms, and barbecue grills. There are no reservations for these sites; everything is done on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Park rules to know:

-Picnic shelters are not rented for the months April - September. -All shelters, tables and grills and parking spaces are first come first serve -Due to the high demand of the swimming area and current conditions maximum capacity is -No rain checks / refunds

Lake Rogers Park

Located in northwestern Hillsborough County, Lake Rogers Park is the “newest” of the County’s regional parks when it opened in 2000. Owned by the City of St. Petersburg, this 272-acre park was developed as a joint venture between the City and Hillsborough County.

First time visitors will notice that the park has two public entrances along North Mobley Road, with kiosks and parking lots, while an entrance for staff access and maintenance is along Gunn Highway. Fishermen and kayakers can enjoy the two fresh water lakes that enhance the beauty of the park, including Lake Rogers, which is the one of the largest Lakes in the County and the only one that is completely under public ownership by the City.

After strolling and biking through trails flanked by pine flatwoods and oak hammocks, Campers can take advantage of the park amenities, such as picnic shelters and tables, portable restrooms, and barbecue grills.
