Beyonce Renaissance Album

It’s time. Beyoncé ‘s Renaissance World Tour — her first jaunt in nearly five years — has officially kicked off at Stockholm’s Friends Arena where she’s set to perform for nearly three hours at the Swedish capital.

The stadium trek will continue across Europe through June, with the North American leg kicking off in Toronto on July 8. Club Renaissance will run for at least 40 dates, mainly in stadiums, and make stops at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey (July 29) and at the SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif. (Sept. 2) amid dates in Chicago, Philadelphia, Toronto, Atlanta, Phoenix and Miami.

Beyoncé performed her first full concert in four years  in January at the new Atlantis Royal Resort in Dubai. It was an elaborate and highly theatrical performance — for which sources say she was paid some $24 million — with an all-female orchestra, a battery of dancers, a small lake, fireworks, a 50-foot hydraulic platform, three costume changes for the singer and a guest appearance from her and Jay-Z’s daughter Blue Ivy, but no songs at all from “Renaissance.”

Her last official tour was the “On the Run II” tour with Jay in 2018, which was tied to their joint album, “Everything Is Love,” by the duo billed as the Carters. That same year, she headlined the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival but her last solo trek was behind her previous solo album, “Lemonade,” in 2016.

Why Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Tour Is a Stadium-Shaking Triumph

By Brian Hiatt

Brian Hiatt

Beyoncé ‘s Renaissance tour , a stadium-shaking dance party built around last year’s album of the same name , won’t begin its U.S. run until a July 12 show in Philadelphia, but thanks to TikTok and YouTube, stateside fans already have a decent sense of the show. It begins with Beyoncé essentially serving as her own opening act via a mini set of ballads before exploding into a show built around the Renaissance album, with songs from her previous albums worked in among the new hits (or in some cases, as with a taste of “Sweet Dreams” in “Alien Superstar,” during them).

In the episode, Brittany Spanos joins host Brian Hiatt to discuss the discourse around and experience of the tour on TikTok and elsewhere, while Daily Telegraph music critic Neil McCormick — who just gave five stars to Beyoncé’s performance in the Welsh capital of Cardiff — offers a firsthand look at the tour. “Beyoncé has spent 25 years doing what she does at an incredibly high level and always trying to up up the ante,” says McCormick. “This is Beyoncé showing who’s the queen, and it’s at the top level of where a show has ever, ever been.”

Beyonce’s ‘Renaissance’ Tour Setlist Revealed: All The Songs Played On Opening Night

Beyonce is back! Discover the setlist for her 2023 Renaissance tour, her show dates, and more here.

Beyonce tour

  • Beyonce is the most decorated Grammy winner of all time, with 32 trophies to her name
  • She kicked off her 2023 Renaissance tour in support of her 2022 album of the same name in May 2023
  • The Renaissance tour sweeps through Europe in May and June, and then plays in North America through September

Ladies (and gents), it’s time to get into “Formation”, because Beyonce officially kicked off her highly-anticipated Renaissance tour . The 41-year-old artist began her 50-plus-date tour, which supports her four-time Grammy Award-winning album 2022 album Renaissance , at the Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden on Wednesday, May 10, 2023. This is her first solo tour since her 49-stop 2016 Formation tour , which ended at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey and featured surprise appearances by Kendrick Lamar and her husband, Jay-Z . She then embarked on a joint tour with Jay-Z in 2018 to support their joint album, Everything Is Love . Beyonce spent some quality time with her family following the tour and then returned to the stage after a three-year hiatus via an extravagant concert in Dubai in Jan. 2023.

Beyonce’s Renaissance tour is projected to gross a whopping $2.1 billion on the low end, per Forbes . The outlet reported that the Renaissance tour could earn as much as $2.4 billion by its final show in Sept. 2023, which would out-earn the projected gross of   Taylor Swift ‘s wildly popular Eras Tour by $500 million. Now that’s impressive. Enough about the numbers; let’s dive into everything there is to know about Queen Bey’s Renaissance tour, from the set list to the tour dates and beyond.

The Renaissance tour is pretty epic. according to Rolling Stone . The outlet reported that the set list includes “era-bending mash-ups” and incredible props, including “two swinging robot arms outfitted with two big rectangles that perfectly framed and moved with Beyoncé as she sauntered through the Renaissance highlight.” The robot arms made their debut during the global superstar’s performance of “Cozy”. They came out again to scan a stained-glass graphic onto her white cape ahead of her “Church Girl” performance. She ended the tour by riding the metallic horse that appeared in her promo shots as she sang, “Summer Renaissance”., as seen above. Oh, and did we mention she performs for about three hours? Without giving away too many more spoilers, let’s see the setlist.

What Has Beyonce Said About The Tour?

Beyonce has kept her lips sealed about all things Renaissance. When she announced her tour on Instagram , she simply wrote , “RENAISSANCEㅤ ㅤWORLD TOUR 2023” in the caption. And following her first show, she shared a compilation of clips from the unforgettable night (seen here ), and wrote, “Welcome to the RENAISSANCE”.

Review: Beyoncé is indomitable as the Renaissance Tour plays its first American show in Philly

The culture shifting superstar's sold out 2 1/2 hour spectacular at the Linc was her first solo show in South Philly in seven years.

Beyoncé opened the show Wednesday night at Lincoln Financial Field in a short black Givenchy dress, uttering the words that her mostly female, significantly queer, impressively diverse, sequin-clad and bedazzled cowboy hat-wearing audience longed to hear: “I love you, Philadelphia.”

Beyoncé's South Philly Renaissance began with a prelude.

Before darkness fell on Lincoln Financial Field on Wednesday, an enormous video screen showed a TV test pattern, cleverly reworked to include colors of the Progress Pride Flag celebrating the LGBTQ community.

That screen became an image of a cloudy blue sky, and then — as the anticipation of the sellout crowd turned into ecstasy — it was filled in with a stadiumwide image of Beyoncé herself.

And then there she was, at 8:45 p.m. sharp.

In a short black Givenchy dress, uttering the words that her mostly female, significantly queer, impressively diverse, sequin-clad and bedazzled cowboy hat-wearing audience longed to hear: “I love you, Philadelphia.”

From there, the opening segment of the first U.S. show of the Renaissance Tour — named after the pulsating 2022 album that draws on the history of dance music and club culture, spotlighting Black gay creators — was surprisingly old school.

The 2½-hour spectacularly entertaining show started off with “Dangerously In Love,” a Destiny’s Child song that became the title cut of Beyoncé's first solo album in 2003. The six-song segment was a ballad-singing masterclass, backed by an eight-piece band. ( Check out the setlist here .)

It was intentionally presented as an intimate intro to an evening that would soon enough get bigger than life.

The 41-year-old singer sat atop a piano while Emily Bear played “1 + 1,” growled into the bluesy “I’m Goin’ Down” (a Rose Royce song later covered by Mary J. Blige), and exchanged vocal runs with guitarist Agape Jerry on “I Care,” veering towards hair metal.

None of those songs are from Renaissance , and none are among Beyoncé's biggest hits. (And though the Renaissance Tour include plenty of hits, it is by no means a “greatest hits” tour.)

But by beginning without immediately hitting the audience with outsized production numbers, it allowed her to present herself as an actual human being who just happens to be a culture-shifting global pop star .

It also allowed her to sing an abbreviated show-stopping “River Deep, Mountain High,” a tribute added to the Renaissance set list after Tina Turner’s death in May.

Then, it was “Alien Superstar” time. And that’s when the state-of-the-art Afrofuturist spectacle of Beyoncé's first solo tour in seven years really began.

She made her second entrance seated, a particularly stylish extraterrestrial cyborg. Rising from her throne in a sexy silver spacesuit, the band was replaced by 20 dancers in matching outfits , headed to the catwalk to take to the crowd.

The aesthetic mashed up Fritz Lang’s Metropolis with more modern sci-fi movies like The Fifth Element and The Terminator .

Thumping house music made bodies move, with a theme of uniqueness. We are all our own special, one-of-a-kind entities, with Beyoncé being just a little more unique than everybody else.

“I’m one of one, I’m number one, I’m the only one,” she sang, emphasizing a point incontrovertibly apparent.

But while trumpeting her unicorn status, the Queen also enraptured her Beyhive in the way that Renaissance had hopefully intended by birthing the kind of joyful, communal space that the COVID lockdown created a longing for.

Renaissance is about self-acceptance and the aspiration to be “comfortable in your own skin,” as Beyoncé sang during “Cozy,” which phrased it this way: “You’re a god, you’re a hero, you’ve survived everything you’ve been through.”

It was self-esteem boosting with a sprinkling of “rainbow gelato” and “limoncello glycerine.”

Sounds delicious, and for the most part, it was. Beyoncé’s one-of-one combination of talents were everywhere on display.

For the traditional-minded, she consciously placed herself in a long Black music lineage, not only with the Rose Royce and Tina Turner covers, but also a showcase of Philadelphia-born soul man Frankie Beverly’s “Before I Let Go.”

Other nods to vintage R&B and pop included a snippet of the Jackson 5′s “I Want You Back” in a version of “Love on Top” that turned into a mass singalong.

Backup singers Tiffany Ryan, Karyn Porter, Natalie Imani, and Tayler Green got to step out with Diana Ross’ 1976 disco hit “Love Hangover” during a changeover.

The most hip-hop focused segment of the show was subtitled “Opulence.” It was introduced with a spoken-word interlude featuring Philly ballroom legend Kevin JZ Prodigy .

During “My Power,” Beyoncé’s 11-year-old daughter, Blue Ivy, joined the dancers, showing off her moves in camouflage chic.

Beyoncé’s skills as a rapper are often underestimated. On the Megan Thee Stallion collaboration “Savage (Remix),” she threw down with force, rapping while crouched atop an armored vehicle.

And her flow was intricate on “Heated,” during which fans cooled themselves with folding fans emblazoned with the song’s name, available for $40 at the merch stand. They came in handy; it was a warm night.

The special effects were dazzling. Though in the social media era, the wow factor of spectacular staging is dimmed.

Yes, it was pretty cool to see the actual Beyoncé suspended by wires and floating above the crowd on a platinum horse during the Donna Summer sampling “Summer Renaissance” encore.

But most fans had already seen it on TikTok, so shortly after liftoff, they made their way to exits in hopes of beating epic traffic.

The attention to detail in the staging was thoroughly impressive. Perhaps the truest line Beyoncé sang all night long was in “Cuff It”: “I’m a seasoned professional.”

Costumes were clever, most notably during a segment in which Beyoncé posed inside a scallop shell — a nod to Botticelli’s Birth of Venus — while the star and dancers were dressed as bees.

Her Queen’s outfit included a headdress, complete with antenna. It was a little unclear however, what that had to do with “America Has A Problem.”

Dancers dazzled, showing out with an extended showcase before the encore.

Beyoncé strutted with swagger and confidence, but didn’t dance as much as on previous tours. (The BeyHive speculation is that she might have suffered a leg injury earlier this year. If so, it didn’t hamper the overall effectiveness of the show.)

The highlight came halfway through with “Break My Soul,” the lead single from Renaissance that deals in a Beyoncé speciality: resilience.

The song is marvelously efficient and motivating on its own, with Robin S. and Big Freedia samples and thumping bass pushing us all towards a “new salvation.”

Then “The Queens Remix” version of the song melded it with Madonna’s “Vogue,” shouting out Black women music makers including Philadelphians Santigold, Tierra Whack, and Jill Scott.

With their names in lights, there was strength in numbers, and the Renaissance was in full effect. No souls would be broken. Beyoncé sounded indomitable.

Beyoncé raises – and clears – her own ambitious bar at Renaissance tour US opener

renaissance tour philadelphia setlist

PHILADELPHIA – Two  Beyoncé s come to play on her Renaissance World Tour .

There is the understated Beyoncé  of the opening segment, her creme brulee -colored hair blowing delicately as she vocalizes intently through “Dangerously in Love,” sits elegantly atop a sliver baby grand piano for “1+1” and thanks the crowd for their loyalty (“You are the reason I’m standing on this stage”).

Then there is the Beyoncé of the other five segments of the show, with themes such as “Renaissance,” “Opulence” and “Motherboard.”

This Beyoncé is an unstoppable force of precise movement and vocal dynamics, a superstar who, two months shy of turning 42 and in the where-did-the-time-go third decade of her career, has raised – and cleared – her own ambitious bar yet again.

At Philadelphia’s Lincoln Financial Field Wednesday, Beyoncé finally unveiled her colossal, eye-popping production in the U.S. She’s already played for a million-plus fans since launching the world tour in Sweden in May, allowing her time to perfect every second of this polished, 2 ½-hour spectacle that will play nearly two dozen stadiums through October.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Though a tiny, taut figure on a stage designed with ramps, staircases and catwalks, Beyoncé loomed magnificently on a video screen wall, her doe-eyed beauty and trademark snarls amplified to reach the farthest cranny of the venue.

Bombarded with bras : Drake attracted much attention from fans at his Detroit tour stop

The dazzling concept videos that ushered in each changeover – particularly, the futuristic visual feast that created a Bey-bot for the “Renaissance” segment – captivated, never feeling like costume-change filler or a glitzy stall tactic.

Of course, there is no stalling in Beyoncé’s universe . The blizzard of beats powering “I’m That Girl” and “Cozy” was complemented by rigidly snapped elbows, severe shoulder shrugs and cocked hips by Beyoncé and her cadre of 10 female dancers.

Her ode to house music, punctuated by “Cuff It” and “Break My Soul” – standout tracks from last summer’s “Renaissance” album – pulsed accordingly, with lights attacking from every angle of the stadium.

Clad in a Barbie-pink gown with more slits than material, Beyoncé radiated glam-infused confidence. When her sunglasses slid down her nose one too many times, they were brusquely tossed offstage. No errant eyewear will impede her rhythm.

A hearty rump shake at the start of “Break My Soul” sent the sold-out crowd into spasms, but it was the midsong interpolation of Madonna’s “Vogue” that further encouraged their glee as Beyoncé name-checked Lizzo, Nina Simone, Solange Knowles and Jilly From Philly in her recitation.

By now, the Beyhive knew to expect an appearance by Blue Ivy, the 11-year-old daughter of Beyoncé and husband Jay-Z (aka Shawn Carter), who started joining the team on stage in Europe. But even with advanced knowledge, the crowd erupted when the preteen arrived during “My Power,” leading the dance crew down a ramp while Mom followed atop a glistening tank-like vehicle.

Blue Ivy ably kept pace with the fleet feet around her, ending “Black Parade” with her fist in the air. As the audience showered the young Carter with more whoops of appreciation, Beyoncé’s game face melted into a proud smile, leading to one of the most memorable snapshots of the night.

The tour set list draws heavily from “Renaissance” as expected, but Beyoncé sprinkles in hits – though maybe not enough for some fans – from her robust catalog, including “Naughty Girl” and “Formation.”

A musical highlight landed with the double punch of classics “Love on Top” and “Crazy In Love.” With her male dancers lined up behind mic stands, Beyoncé humorously led the crowd through the escalating key changes in “Love on Top” before the delectable groove of the song dovetailed into the snaky bass line of The Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back,” complete with throwback choreography.

It was a moment of unadulterated joy that remained through the sizzle of “Crazy in Love,” which included a fabulous coda by her hardworking band.

The tempo of the show decelerated a bit as Beyoncé entered the homestretch in her already-famous Loewe bodysuit designed with strategically placed handprints. “Plastic Off the Sofa” and “Virgo’s Groove” didn’t have the audience as adrenalized as intensely as other selections from “Renaissance.” But by the time she reemerged for the encore sporting a yellow-and-black headdress and offering a powerful missive with “America Has a Problem,” attentions were rapt again.

Soaring balladeer and poetic messenger. Refined couture and sequined camouflage. Warm smiles and dramatic sneers.

Beyoncé delivers all of it, with excellence.

Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour Setlist Includes Classics & Surprises

On May 10, Bey kicked off her first tour in five years with a mix of 2000s classics and Renaissance hits.

Please do not be alarmed, remain calm, do not attempt to leave the dance floor — Beyoncé ’s 2023 Renaissance World Tour has commenced. On May 10, members of the Beyhive traveled to Stockholm, Sweden, to witness the opening night of her first tour in five years. This marks the first time the 32-time Grammy winner has performed songs from her seventh studio album Renaissance , which have not received any music videos or live performances until now.

Since her last tour in 2018, Beyoncé released the critically acclaimed Renaissance album , her first solo effort in seven years, but that’s not the only new music she’s given fans. In 2019, she put out The Lion King: The Gift , a soundtrack inspired by Disney’s live-action film in which she plays Nala, before releasing a companion film Black Is King a year later. With so many new songs to fit alongside her older hits, creating the Renaissance Tour setlist was always going to be a challenge, but Beyoncé came through with a 35-song spectacle that lasted almost three hours.

Beyoncé played the entirety of Renaissance in order, including Grammy-winning hits “Break My Soul” and “Cuff It,” and mixed in classics from all of her previous six albums throughout. But the show didn’t start that way. Instead, Bey opened the tour with a run of surprising ballads, starting with her 2003 deep cut “Dangerously In Love 2” and ending with two tracks from her 2011 album 4 . If this rough setlist draft from the tour book is any indication, she may be rotating the songs in the opening act every night.

After months of creating dream setlists and imagining the camp visuals she could create, fans finally know what Beyoncé is performing on her long-awaited world tour.

Here is Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour setlist.

Beyoncé Renaissance tour setlist: What songs will she play?

Over the course of her iconic career to date, Beyoncé has released seven studio albums, a collaborative album with JAY-Z, a soundtrack album, multiple live albums and four albums as part of Destiny's Child. It's also believed that Renaissance is the first album of a three-album project. Taking this into consideration, she has hundreds of iconic songs to pick from.

Like most of Beyoncé's previous tours, it seems likely that the Renaissance tour will mainly feature the songs of the album it's promoting alongside her biggest hits and fan favourite deep cuts. Expect to hear 'Break My Soul', 'Cuff It' and 'Alien Superstar' alongside the likes of 'Formation', 'Crazy In Love' and 'Love on Top'.

We're also keeping our fingers crossed that underrated bops like 'Blow', 'Find Your Way Back' and 'Schoolin' Life' will appear somewhere in the setlist.

As usual, we won't know the setlist until the first date of the tour. Return to this page then to find out what she plays.

Everything You Need to Know: Janet Jackson’s Together Again Tour at Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pa

  • Print this page

She's one of the biggest icons of our lifetime, and she's FINALLY returning to South Philly!

Janet Jackson is bringing the Together Again Tour to Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center on Wednesday, June 26, 2024. The tour, now in its second leg, has been getting rave reviews across the country.

There's a lot of demand for this show. From setlist to parking to opening acts, we put together a list of EVERYTHING you need to know ahead of the show:

What time is Janet Jackson's Concert in Philadelphia?

The "show" begins at 8:00 p.m.,  according to arena officials at the Wells Fargo Center.

However, we have more insights on the exact set times posted below.

Is There An Opening Act for Janet Jackson's Concert in Philadelphia at the Wells Fargo Center?

On this leg of the tour, Janet will be joined by special guest Nelly. How exciting is that?

What Time Will Janet Jackson Perform at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia?

The tour is starting to settle into a routine so we've dug into the set times from this tour, and it appears as if Janet Jackson  is due to hit the stage between 9:00 pm and 9:10 pm.

Don't cut it too close if you're pre-gaming at Xfinity Live or tailgating in the parking lot. I'd recommend being in your seat by 8:50 p.m. to see Janet.

As for Nelly, we think he'll start performing shortly after 8 (probably about 8:15 p.m.), and he will wrap his set up no later than 8:45 p.m.

What Is the Setlist for Janet Jackson's Together Again Concert at the Wells Fargo Center?

We dug into some of her past shows to find what we expect their setlist to be on July 26 at the Wells Fargo Center.

We know, however, that not everyone wants to see that info ahead of time.  Click here for the setlist, which may contain spoilers.

How Much Does Parking Cost for the Janet Jackson Concert at the Wells Fargo Center Philadelphia?

Parking is available at the venue on the day of the show. Parking rates have typically been between $30 and $40 for recent events at the stadium complex, but that is subject to change.

You can pay onsite, but note that the Wells Fargo Center no longer accepts cash payments. They do, however, accept all major credit cards, and digital payments (including Apple Pay and Google Play).

You can view the options for reserving your parking in advance here.

The exact times that the parking lots open have not been published, but they usually open no later than 5 p.m. for an evening concert.  Check back for an update on that here.
