Where and how long the ticket is valid:

* Passengers may not use an extension ticket for travel in Berlin C. Children aged 0-5 travel for free. Details subject to change.

• The ticket for 4,5 or 6 days begins on the first day of validation and ends at 24h on the fourth or fifth day afterwards.
• Must be validated before starting travel (does not apply to mobile phone tickets or tickets printed at home)..

Free travel, pets and transporting items:

Up to three children (6 to 14 years) may travel free of charge within the tariff zone Berlin AB, ABC and Potsdam AB area, if the ticket was purchased at the standard fare and the cardholder is at least 15 years old.

Children aged 0-5 travel for free. 

Anyone who wants to transport a bicycle must buy a bicycle ticket  that matches their ticket type.

Dogs do not need a ticket.

Animals the size of a domestic cat and smaller do not need a ticket.

The holder can transport luggage for free.

The holder can transport wheelchairs or prams/buggies for free.

The tariff area of the Verkehrsverbund Berlin-Brandenburg ( VBB ) includes the federal state of Berlin and the state of Brandenburg with its administrative districts and independent cities of Brandenburg, Cottbus, Frankfurt (Oder) and Potsdam.

Berlin and the surrounding regions are divided into fare zones a , b and c gegliedert.

Fare zone Berlin a includes the city center of Berlin, including the S-Bahn-Ring.

Fare zone Berlin b begins outside the S-Bahn ring and reaches to the city limits.

Fare zone Berlin c includes both the outskirts of Berlin and the city of Potsdam.

Citytour card vs. welcomecard.

The WelcomeCard is valid for either the Berlin AB or Berlin ABC fare zones and can be purchased for different lengths of time. With the WelcomeCard, you benefit from over 200 discount partners and discounts of between 25% and 50%. The ticket comes with a printed CityGuide with recommendations and tours as well as a map of the city and public transport network. The WelcomeCard Museum Island gives you free admission to the respective museums and the WelcomeCard all inclusive is an all-round carefree package.

The CityTour Card is valid for either the Berlin AB or Berlin ABC fare zones and can be purchased for different lengths of time. The CityTour Card gives you up to 40% discount at around 30 partners. In addition to the classics such as the TV Tower, it also includes more unusual offers such as the Disgusting Food Museum or Poetry Slam. You receive a folding map with your ticket. Overall, the CityTour Card is slightly cheaper than the WelcomeCard.
