Victoria Monét

Victoria Monét will embark on her debut headlining tour , The Jaguar Tour , this fall.

The tour will kick off on Sept. 6 at Detroit’s Majestic Theatre, less than two weeks after she releases her new album Jaguar II on Aug. 25 via Lovett Music/RCA Records. Since she released her critically acclaimed album Jaguar in 2020 during the pandemic, The Jaguar Tour will mark the first time she’ll be performing both projects live on tour.

Monét previously released singles “Smoke,” featuring Lucky Daye , “Party Girls,” featuring Buju Banton and “On My Mama” ahead of Jaguar II . She broke down all three tracks for Billboard , saying, “I feel like I’ve been behind the bushes and in the background, and I think jaguars themselves live in that way. They find the right moment to attack — and get what they want.”

Tickets go on sale this Friday, July 14 at 10 a.m. local time here . But they could sell out as quickly as her first headlining show in L.A. this past March at the El Rey Theatre — which was in partnership with Spotify’s “R&B First Nights” campaign and Goldenvoice — which sold out in under one minute.

Victoria Monet Commands The Stage During Jaguar Tour

Victoria Monet Commands The Stage During Jaguar Tour

“I got a feeling that you brought me to you” Victoria Monet draws out during the opening line of her beloved single “Moment .” The singer floats through a cloud of smoke onto center stage revealing a beautiful brown bralette and matching skirt at the Fonda Theater in Los Angeles on October 11, 2023.

The crowd, adorned in similar brown attire, erupts into cheers as Monet hits her first stance as a fan blows her blonde hair while the chords of “Moment ” come with full force. In the first thirty seconds of the show, the performer makes a clear statement that she has fully and finally arrived. She is prepared to transport everyone into her world of sensuality and joy.

The Jaguar Tour, helped to support Monet’s two-part album Jaguar Part I and II . A double album that guided Monet to find her signature sound inspired by 1970s R&B and funk, filled with horns, guitars, and 808s.

During the hour-and-a-half runtime, which featured a strong opening set from R&B singer-songwriter Ambre — Monet cements her journey of self-discovery and sexual liberation.

After continuing the opening number of “Moment” by showcasing her head voice with beautiful ad-libs and a guitar solo, a seamless transition into “Big Boss” and then “Ass Like That,” make a nice use of drums and percussion. Which made way for one of the biggest highlights of the show; the viral dance break to “Some Cut” by Lil Scrappy and Trillville. The choreography served as both a great showcase of Monet’s ability as a dancer and also as a tribute to some of her early 2000s influences.

Monet then slows things down with “Dive ” and “How Does It Make You Feel.” This allows her to give a spotlight to her deep and rich tone. Monet sings “Dive ” with an unexpected but welcome sincerity that is in line with “How Does It Make You Feel.”

Victoria Monet Commands The Stage During Jaguar Tour

The energy picks up once again with a short cover of “Stop In The Name of Love” by the Supremes which goes directly into “Stop (Askin’ Me 4 Shyt).” It’s clear that the song is a mantra for both Monet and audience members. Monet continued the tradition of giving her opinion on things that need to be stopped and specifying it for each city. In Los Angeles, she rightfully stood up for the writers’ strike saying “Stop the strikes and give the writers their money” along with “Stop pitting Black female artists against each other.”

While watching the numbers “Smoke,” “Touch Me,”  “New Love,” “Monopoly,” “F.U.C.K,” and “Coastin’” Monet made the feel of the venue adapt with minimal set decoration. Making standouts “Smoke” and “Coastin’” feel both bombastic and “Touch Me” and “F.U.C.K” feel like a salacious secret.

Monet returns with her dancers in a brown suit, hat, and cane to perform “Cadillac.” During this selection, particularly through the second half of the setlist, it became clear that this tour deserved a much larger venue. Monet continues her pitch-perfect vocals moving from chest to head voice smoothly, but this time with Janet Jackson inspired choreography.

Victoria Monet Commands The Stage During Jaguar Tour

Throughout the night, Monet is performing at such a skill level, on her very first headline tour without breaking a sweat, that it can be taken for granted. She is performing with the kind of stage presence that we only get ever so often and usually takes years after an artist’s first headlining tour to master.

“Alright,” “Party Girls,” and “Experience” were all very smart live arrangements and mixes. “Alright” notably brought together collaborator Kaytranada’s signature electronic sound and live instrumentation harmoniously.

At the end of the night, the singer ended the show with the title track “Jaguar,” which almost seemed like the perfect apex or crescendo to close with. It almost seemed that the more intimate numbers were all leading up to this show-stopper.

That is until the encore, Monet comes back in a Jaguar themed hat, bralette, and low-rise brown pants to perform her hit “On My Mama.” Monet hits Sean Bankhead’s choreography with such force and ease. There is a focus and but also infectious joy radiating through the number almost making the venue shake. Monet exits the stage as she comes in a flood of smoke and darkness.

The Jaguar Tour was nothing short of astounding. From the consistently crystal clear vocal deliveries, gorgeous instrumentation, and sharply executed choreography and pacing of the show. Victoria Monet has proved herself to be one of the most primed, exciting, and innovative multi-talented musical artists working today, who is too important to be lurking in the shadows behind anyone else ever again.

Here Is Victoria Monét’s ‘The Jaguar Tour’ Setlist

Megan Armstrong

Victoria Monét’s Jaguar II was described by Uproxx ‘s Wongo Okon as “ a dazzling triumph ,” and that opinion was widely shared — so much so that fans were distraught because Monét wasn’t among the featured performers during the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12. That prompted a response from Monét herself.

“I see your advocation for me to have performed tonight and I’m so grateful to you!! Sincerely!” she wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) in response to her fans’ (justified) outrage. “My team was told it is ‘too early in my story’ for that opportunity so we will keep working!”

She continued, “I’m grateful for YOU, for my tour starting this Friday and for the ability to see some of my favorite people perform tonight and receive the love they so deserve!!! [Brown heart emoji, prayer-hands emoji] For me, it’s part of the story…and in Gods time.”

As mentioned, Monét’s The Jaguar Tour is underway and quenching anyone’s thirst to see her perform. Her next scheduled date is at Joy Theater New Orleans in New Orleans, Louisiana on Thursday, September 21.

You can see all of her remaining dates here , and check out her setlist below (as chronicled by fans on setlist.fm from her September 18 show in Charlotte, North Carolina).

Victoria Monét Launches ‘Jaguar Tour’ in Washington, D.C.: Concert Review

The r&b singer and songwriter delivers an exceptional opening show..

Victoria Monét Jaguar Tour review

Victoria Monét . (Photo Credit: @chanel.jm)

When Victoria Monét announced the dates for her first headlining tour, The Jaguar Tour , the response was so overwhelming that tickets sold out within minutes, prompting her to upgrade to larger venues in certain cities and move a few dates around. Consequently, Washington, D.C., became the tour’s opening city. Monét kicked off her tour on Friday (Sept. 15) night at the historic Howard Theatre.

Around 8 p.m., the lights dimmed and R&B newcomer Alex Vaughn emerged on the stage rocking her signature short cut. The Prince George’s County, Maryland, native was greeted with thunderous applause and shouts from locals familiar with her work. The LVRN signee began her 20-minute set with her Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins-produced single “So Be It.” Vaughn didn’t need to convince the audience to pay attention as they harmonized with her as she belted the lovelorn lyrics.

“It’s Friday. Y’all off work. Make some noise for yourselves. Make some noise for R&B,” Vaughn told the crowd after ending the opening number.

She continued her enticing set with a few more selections from her debut EP, The Hurtbook , including “Keep That Energy,” “IYKYK,” “Do You Ever,” and the fan-favorite “ Mirage .” The latter performance was a standout moment, where Vaughn flexed her operatic vocal range.

View this post on Instagram                         A post shared by @alexvaughn

Following Vaughn’s opening performance, crew members ushered to the stage and began decorating with tall trees and plants, creating a jungle-like ambiance. Around 9:15 p.m., the house lights dimmed again as band members made their way to the stage. The crowd’s excitement had them cheering in anticipation for the lady of the hour. Monét stealthily emerged on the stage, donning a brown hooded robe with a rhinestone jaguar emblem.

Once she reached her mic-stand, she dramatically ripped off the robe to unveil her glimmering two-piece ensemble. With her blonde hair flowing from the breeze of a stage fan in a Beyoncé-like manner, Monét opened her hour-long set with “Moment” from her 2020 JAGUAR EP.

She then segued to other JAGUAR cuts, including “Big Boss” and “Ass Like That.” The audience roared at the sound of Trillville’s “Some Cut,” signaling that they would get to witness Monét’s viral dance break that leads into another JAGUAR favorite, “Dive.”

After treating concertgoers to the first installment of JAGUAR, Monét eased into the sentimental ballad “How Does It Make You Feel,” lifted from her debut album, JAGUAR II . The audience collectively belted every word with all their might. Although the song was less than a month old, everyone sang along as if it has been around for years. ( JAGUAR II was released Aug. 25 via RCA Records .)

victoria monet tour opener

Both JAGUAR II and JAGUAR are informed by retro soul stylings from the ‘60s and ‘70s. She fittingingly incorporated The Supremes’ classic hit “Stop! In The Name of Love” ahead of her tell-off anthem “Stop (Askin’ Me 4Shyt)” from II. Towards the end of the song, Monét cheekily added, “And stop re-selling my tickets motherf*****rs,” which had the crowd laughing hysterically as if it were a comedy show. Monét’s dig was toward those who buy concert tickets just to resell them at a much higher price, leaving many fans with the dilemma of paying more than the ticket — if they can even get a hold of the tickets.

While the scent of marijuana was in the air all night, it was more potent when Monét performed her Lucky Daye-assisted single “ Smoke ,” as well as “Smoke (Reprise).” The stoner’s anthem had the venue perfumed with varying strains of weed — and yes, Monét had her puff, too. After taking her hit, she told the crowd, “I’m feeling sexy,” before transitioning to sensual numbers like “Touch Me” and “F.U.C.K.”

One can imagine how difficult it was for Monét to determine her setlist. While the tour is in support of her new album, it’s her first as a headliner and she has four other EPs and standalone singles that were released before the JAGUAR era. Midway through her set, Monét treated fans with a throwback medley of beloved cuts such as the new jack swing-inspired “ New Love ” from Life After Love, Pt. 2 , and her underrated bop “ Freak ” from Life After Love, Pt. 1 . She even performed her 2019 Ariana Grande collab “ Monopoly ” and 2021’s “ Coastin ’.”

victoria monet tour opener

After “We Might Even Be Falling In Love (Interlude),” Monét exited the stage for a quick costume change. The band played a live rendition of OutKast’s “SpottieOttieDopaliscious” during the short intermission. Monét then returned donning a sparkling pinstripe suit and a wooden cane, a fitting ensemble for “Cadillac (A Pimp’s Anthem),” another JAGUAR II track. Monét and her dancers delivered slick choreography to the confidence-boosting anthem.

Once Monét changed to another outfit, she returned on stage for a high-octane performance of her Kaytranada-produced jam “Alright,” before transitioning with a mashup of Beyoncé’s 2003 hit “Baby Boy” and her reggae-tinged “ Party Girls ” featuring Buju Banton. Towards the end of the show, Monét returned to JAGUAR to perform her disco-inspired “Experience” and ended with the title track.

When Monét and her dancers left the stage, the audience quickly noticed that one song in particular was missing from the setlist. In a matter of seconds, they began chanting the catchy hook of “ On My Mama .” “Okay, so you guys want ‘On My Mama,’ right?” Monét asked the crowd before returning to the stage to close the show with her first Billboard Hot 100-charting single. Best of all, Monét stayed true to the intricate choreography as seen in the official video, which has amassed six million views on YouTube.

Monét’s opening night of the Jaguar Tour was a resounding success. She poured her heart and soul into the performance to create an unforgettable experience for attendees. The Jaguar Tour ’s upcoming stops include Philadelphia, Charlotte, Atlanta, New Orleans and more.

Victoria Monét Announces Official Dates For The JAGUAR Tour

Victoria Monét has announced her first-ever solo headlining tour. Named after her magnum opus, JAGUAR , and its forthcoming sequel, the trek will boast performances of songs from both albums.

The 22-city run is set to kick off on Sept. 6 in Detroit. Monét will then hit up major cities like Toronto, Atlanta, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles, before a grand finale in Chicago on Oct. 22. Tickets for The JAGUAR Tour will be available starting this Friday (July 14) at 10 a.m. local time on her website.

The highly anticipated JAGUAR II LP is officially set to arrive on Aug. 25 via Lovett Music/RCA Records. The first installment made its debut in 2020, and the “A** Like That” crooner is aware her fans have been patiently waiting for the follow-up. “We’ve waited 3 years, don’t let this flop,” she wrote on Instagram last month along with the announcement.

The songstress has been on a hot streak so far this year, dropping off well-received singles like “Smoke” featuring Lucky Daye, “Party Girls” featuring Buju Banton, and most recently, “On My Mama.” In a recent interview on The Ebro Show  on Apple Music 1, Monét opened up about her state of mind while penning hits for the forthcoming project.

“I was really having a hard time. I had  postpartum depression , I was still breastfeeding, just adjusting to the life, but also in the midst of COVID,” explained the mother of one. “So we’re in a pandemic, everything’s a little bit risky, scary to even be in the studio with a child. And ‘On My Mama’ was the first record I did that I actually liked. But it came while I was in a place of disbelief in what I was actually saying. So it’s almost like I had to speak it into existence.”

Victoria Monét Is A Y2K, Southern-Inspired Star In Her New Music Video

These R&B references are chef’s kiss.

Victoria Monét has been on the prowl. The singer introduced her Jaguar era — a buttery R&B album filled with rich browns imageries and golden safaris — in August 2020, reminding the world that her lush vocals is just as impressive as her lyrical pen. Yes, she’s the mastermind behind Ariana Grande’s memorable 7 Rings mantra: “I want it, I got it.” Now, nearly three years after the album’s release, Monét’s continuing her cat cosplay with Jaguar II . The star recently released a music video for her third single “On My Mama,” and it’s littered with iconic references to artists from the South.

On Aug. 14, Monét dropped the long-awaited visual for “On My Mama.” This richly produced hit, which is on the cusp of a TikTok dance challenge , is the third offering from Jaguar II . With this closing out her trilogy of early singles, it’s only right the music video has the greatest elements. And surprisingly, it does. Just shy of four minutes, Monét takes listeners on a infectious tribute to Black southern artists who shaped the early 2000s. This direction fits perfectly, as she interpolates “I Look Good” from Texas emcee Chalie Boy on “On My Mama.” Ugh, we love an artist with taste.

This hypnotic release follows several album updates from Monét. On July 17, the “Monopoly” singer released the tracklist to Jaguar II — set to release on Aug. 25 — on Instagram. “I’m so happy to finally share this with you! Look at these FEATURES. screaming..what is life?!” Monét wrote on the post. Boasting 11 tracks, the album sees the singer trading vocals with Lucky Daye; KAYTRANADA ; Earth, Wind & Fire (!); and her two-year-old daughter Hazel . A star readying another young star for greatness? Love to see it.

These sonic breadcrumbs have been decadent offerings from Monét, who knows how to shape-shift her vocals to fit any production. With her impressively acing this skill across her new singles, there’s a chance it might continue on Jaguar II .

The tracklist news comes shortly after Monét announced the dates to her Jaguar Tour on July 10. The now sold out excursion will kick off in early September, with her visiting cities such as Detroit, Houston, New York, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles.

Tickets for the tour went on sale Friday, July 14. That same day, the R&B it-Girl excitedly announced on Instagram it had sold out. “Y’all my mind is BLOWN!!! You sold out this entire tour in minutes. I’m gonna cryyyyy! I did not expect all this but I’m so happy you really like me,” she wrote at the time.

Victoria Monét performed at Spotify's 'RNBFirstNights' concert in March 2023.

The tour’s quick success didn’t shock fans, as many have been aware of her talent since her early days at Motown Records. And now, with a new set of eyes on her, Monét’s damn near unstoppable.

Check out all the details about Jaguar II and her sold out tour, below.

Jaguar II ’s Tracklist

Monét’s forthcoming album features several surprise collaborations.

See the full tracklist below:

  • “Smoke (Ft. Lucky Daye)”
  • “Smoke (Reprise)”
  • “Party Girls (Ft. Buju Banton)”
  • “Cadillac (A Pimp’s Anthem)”
  • “How Does It Make You Feel”

“On My Mama”

  • “I’m The One”
  • “Stop (Askin’ Me 4Shyt)”
  • “Hollywood (Ft. Earth, Wind & Fire and Hazel Monét)”

Pre-Order Info For Jaguar II

Fans can now pre-save Monét’s album on Spotify and Apple Music .

The Jaguar Tour Begins In The Fall

Victoria Monét’s glittery tour will kick off in Detroit, Michigan on Sept. 6, 2023.

Where Will Monét Visit On The Jaguar Tour?

  • Oct. 22 in Chicago, IL at House of Blues

Victoria Monét will visit 21 cities on her upcoming 'Jaguar' tour.

What’s The Setlist For The Jaguar Tour?

It’s safe to assume she’ll perform both her Jaguar albums. The singer might show more love to Jaguar II , as it’ll release a month before the tour starts. So far, Monét has dropped three singles off her upcoming project: “Party Girls” with Buju Banton, the Lucky Daye-assisted “Smoke,” and “On My Mama.”

“Party Girls”

If any track needs to be in rotation, it needs to be “Party Girls.” This dancehall offering has a subtle waft of Beyoncé’s 2003 hit, “Baby Boy,” with a twinkle of Christina Millian’s infectious “Dip It Low.” They sonically exist in the same universe, and Monét’s velvety vocals will have you slow whining on the dancefloor (and at her upcoming show) throughout the fall.

The smoky flare on Monét and Lucky Daye’s duet still lives rent free in fans’ minds .

Like the icon she is, Monét interpolated the illest affirmation of all time (Chalie Boy’s 2009 gem “I Look Good) on “On My Mama.”

As for her first Jaguar project, fans might want to keep their ear on “A*s Like That” and “Touch Me.” There’s also “Coastin’,” her sun-soaked anthem that released nearly a year after the first album.

Victoria Monét Announces Solo Headlining’The Jaguar Tour’

Mail

R&B sensation Victoria Monét is set to embark on her inaugural solo headlining tour, The JAGUAR Tour , supporting her highly anticipated album JAGUAR II .

victoria monet tour opener

Due to the pandemic, Monét could not tour her critically acclaimed album JAGUAR , making this tour the first opportunity for fans to experience songs from both JAGUAR and JAGUAR II . The tour will kick off on September 6th in Detroit and will take Monét to major cities across North America, including Toronto, New York, Atlanta, Los Angeles, and more. The tour will also mark her first solo show in London, United Kingdom, in November. Artist pre-sale tickets will be available on Wednesday, with general ticket sales opening on Friday, July 14.

The tour announcement comes on the heels of Monét’s recent release of “On My Mama,” the third single from JAGUAR II. The empowering anthem has already garnered over 6 million streams within its first three weeks. Before “On My Mama,” Monét dropped the dancehall-influenced hit “Party Girls” featuring Buju Banton and a captivating music video choreographed by Sean Bankhead. The success of “Party Girls” led to Monét trending and the video landing in the YouTube Trending Top 15. Earlier this year, Monét sold out her first-ever headlining show at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles and participated in a fireside chat at CultureCon LA. As a new member of RCA Records, Victoria Monét is heating the music scene with her upcoming projects.

5 Times Victoria Monét Was Inspired By Beyoncé

A s one of the latest R&B acts with an objective promise of stardom, Victoria Monét is second to none. The Grammy Award winner is a master of her craft, delivering vocals, visuals and bangers with effortlessness and flawless execution. She’s constantly garnering comparisons to Beyoncé, said to be the closest to the living legend in the new age.

Monét has loudly shared her love for the iconic songstress, penning an open letter to her on Instagram .

“Dear @Beyonce, my queen my idol my inspiration,” she wrote. “God knows how much I love you, how you’ve musically raised me and trained me to be a better performer by watching and experiencing you, and how many solo concerts I’ve had in my room dreaming and singing into a hairbrush or remote when your albums and visuals drop! You’re my Diana, my Tina, my Aretha! My Bey!!!  Thank you for your beauty and grace and legacy that continues opening doors for so many of us black girls, and for taking the time to speak to me on the biggest day of my career. You’ve really been here all along!”

It’s clear to say that Queen Bey is one of Monét’s biggest influences and she is affirmatively a member of the BeyHive. Here are five different times Monét has displayed her admiration through paying homage and bowing to the OG.

BET Awards Performance

During the 2024 BET Awards, Monét, alongside singer and actress Teyana Taylor, recreated Usher and Beyoncé’s 2005 “Bad Girl” performance. The performance was met with praise across the board, mirroring the outfits and choreography with perfect execution. Beyoncé reposted a clip of the performance on her Instagram story, seemingly giving her approval as well. Monét was moved by the acknowledgment.

“I am screaming!! Can not grasp for air. I am unwell. Holy sh*t I did not expect to pass out today. Gagged completely. Beyoncé, we love you. The original bad gyal I will forever honor you,” she said.

Renaissance Tour Outfit

Monét was one of the many celebrities who attended Beyoncé’s record-breaking Renaissance World Tour in 2023. She certainly arrived on theme. Her outfit was a replica of Beyoncé’s iconic silver two-piece look for her performance of “Deja Vu” at the 2003 BET Awards.

“S.O.S” Feat. Usher

In the marketing for Monét’s latest collaboration, the steamy serenade “S.O.S” with R&B legend Usher, she’s undeniably serving B’Day era. In fact, that X, formerly known as Twitter, users exploded with jokes and comparisons. They also made the hopeful plea that the two will eventually collaborate.

Sharing Her CÉCRED Experience

A major part of honoring your faves means supporting them in all their endeavors. Monét was quick to hop into the CÉCRED salon and attest to how healthy and strong the products left her crown feeling . She even bonded with Beyoncé’s mother, Miss Tina Knowles, who shared some helpful insight on how CÉCRED’s products can reinvigorate her scalp health.

Jaguar Tour

It’s hard not to think of Beyoncé when Monét hits the stage, from her controlled vocals to her mesmerizing choreography. With wind machines dancing through her long blonde locks, it’s evident she’s studied the craft. She even paid homage to her during her Jaguar Tour setlist by integrating Beyoncé’s “Baby Boy” with her own single “Party Girls.”
