The Genoa cruise ship terminals are Ponte dei Mille and Ponte Andrea Doria and are located in a busy area of the city where parking is rare. However, if you need to park for your cruise, you will have no problem finding a spot.

The prices of different parking lots vary depending mainly on the distance from the terminal and the services offered.

Let’s see together which are the best long term parking lots for cruise passengers .

Lanterna Parking Genova

The best cruise parking Genoa for quality price

Lanterna Parking is a great parking lot for those departing from Genoa for their cruise.

Located about 2 km from the MSC embarkation terminal , by parking at Lanterna Parking, you will be escorted to the ship in a comfortable 9-seater van (and they don’t make a fuss even if you have a lot of luggage 😉 ).

The shuttle service is free from 08:30 am to 2:30 pm , while after 2:30 pm you can reach the embarkation piers by contracted cabs at a cost of €10.

It has indoor parking spaces in a facility controlled by 24-hour video surveillance cameras . Unlike other Genoa cruise parking lots, at Lanterna, once you park your car, you can keep the keys with you , so you can be sure that no one will touch it.

The cost is about 80€ for a week , and although it is not the cheapest parking lot, I think given the services offered, the value for money is very good .

Park Torre Sud

The cheapest Genoa cruise parking

Torre Sud is a parking lot located about 1.5km from the MSC ship check-in and a 500-meter walk from the ferry terminal.

The parking lot is monitored 24 hours a day by surveillance cameras and offers more than 200 indoor parking spaces . Just like its predecessor, at Park Torre Sud you keep the car keys , so you are sure your car will not be touched by anyone.

It does not offer a shuttle service, but to reach the terminal while unloading your luggage you can call +39 010 5966 to book your cab (paid service), which will take you to the ship boarding in just a few minutes.

Garage Ponte dei Mille

Genoa cruise parking that allows you to drop off and pick up your car at the ship’s entrance

Garage Ponte dei Mille is a parking lot affiliated with the MSC Cruises company .

Unlike other parking garages, Ponte dei Mille offers car pickup and drop-off service directly at the embarkation docks.

It means that you will have to go with your car directly to the embarkation decks , where you will be waited for by Ponte dei Mille Garage staff, who will pick up your car and return it to you once your cruise is over.

The parking lot is guarded , as well as being under 24H video surveillance via CCTV system.

It also offers parking service for large cars, RVs and vans .

In short, it is the ideal Genoa cruise parking if you want to drop off and pick up your car directly in front of the ship embarkation .

Autosiloport

The cruise parking lot closest to the ship’s embarkation

Autosiloport is the only parking lot located inside the Port of Genoa , just below the Maritime Station , 30 meters from the pier and 300 meters from the Cruise Terminal.

After going to the Cruise Terminal, you will find Autosiloport employees who will collect your luggage and show you where to park your car . Once you leave your car, you can conveniently walk to the ship’s entrance in less than 2 minutes.

It is a covered parking lot, video monitored with a 24H CCTV system and is insured against theft and fire.

It can accommodate cars, RVs, buses, trucks or vans up to 4.20 meters in height . It is requested to leave the keys with the staff.

More parking for Genoa cruise

WHEREAS, the four parking lots I mentioned above are, in my opinion, the best. If you should not find availability (especially during peak season) you can try contacting Autorimessa Columbia and Parking Pedemonte . These are two garages located slightly away from the Port of Genoa that offer 2 4-hour parking and car care service .

Cruise parking Genoa: FAQ

If you need to park your car, I personally recommend Lanterna Parking . It is the best for value for money, as it also offers free shuttle service. The online reviews are great, and I have personally had quite a bit of feedback from cruise passengers who were very comfortable. On the other hand, if you need to park a large car (such as a van, RV or even a coach) I recommend Autosiloport , which is located right below the Maritime Station, just a few meters from the ship’s embarkation dock.

It would be great to be able to park for free, but I do not recommend it . The Port of Genoa is located just a stone’s throw from the city’s historic center, where, due to the lack of space, it is very difficult (if not impossible) to find free parking. However, you can check out my article on where to park in Genoa .

If you plan to leave your car in one of the parking lots I recommended, I suggest you arrive 45 minutes before boarding . So if you have to embark at noon, arrive at 11:15. This will give you a chance to park without stress, find your way to the ship, and check in. If you plan to park in a more distant parking lot, I recommend arriving at least an hour before you plan to board .

Yes. I suggest you make reservations in advance to make sure the parking lots have available spaces. Should you find yourself without a parking space, you risk having to rush through everything.

The Port of Genoa is within walking distance of the center of Genoa . The passenger terminals dedicated to cruise ships are the Porte Andrea Doria and the Ponte dei Mille . The Terminals located at Ponte Caracciolo , Calata Chiappella, Ponte Assereto and Ponte Colombo, on the other hand, are dedicated to Tirrenia, Moby and GNV ferries.

How to get there

From the motorway:

• Coming from the motorway take the exit Genoa Airport, and continue straight.
• At the first crossing, bear right in the direction Savona – Aeroporto.
• At the second crossing, bear right again direction Savona till the roundabout, take the first exit and continue in Via Angelo Siffredi, then continue in Via Giotto for 200mt. (Continue through 5 sets of lights from the roundabout), then turn right in Via Borzoli (follow direction to “Ospedale-Carabinieri”) and continue for 500mt.
• After the second petrol station Q8 turn right in Passo Ruscarolo and you will find us after 50mts on your left.

From Genoa Airport:

• Exit the Terminal, at the roundabout continue in Via Pioneri e Aviatori d’Italia, after 1.1km at the roundabout take the second exit and continue in Via Angelo Siffredi.
• Then continue in Via Giotto for 200mt, turn right in Via Borzoli and continue 500mt, turn right again in Passo Ruscarolo and you will find us after 50mt on your left.

From Genoa Port:

• Exit the Cruise Terminal, at the roundabout take the first exit and continue in Via Angelo Scarsellini, then continue for 3.7km in Strada Statale 1 Via Aurelia.
• At the roundabout take the second exit and continue in Via Angelo Siffredi and then in Via Giotto 200mt; turn right in Via Borzoli and continue 500mt, the turn right in Passo Ruscarolo and you will find us after 50mts on your left

MSC is offering valet parking in Genoa for 90 EUR per week, whereas our travel agent is offering two parking garages (Park Torre Sud Porto Genova and Park Mar Porto Genova) for 70 EUR per week. Wondering what to do, here's some of my thinking:

Valet Parking

• More convenient on embarkation day
• Cruise line liable in case the car is stolen / broken into while in their possession?
• Someone else has my key, not sure where the car will be parked
• Long wait to re-claim the car after disembarkation?

Parking Garage

• Will have to walk / take a shuttle on embarkation day
• Car less protected from being stolen
• I won't have to give away my keys
• Can walk to the car after disembarkation

Maybe I'm overthinking this, but any advice would be appreciated

Alex, have you done this yet? What did you choose, and how was it? I'm planning for our trip in April. How did you hear about the MSC option? When I checked their website, the option I saw was more expensive than that.

Yes, done it. We went with the MSC valet parking and it worked really well for us. The car drop off point was at a side entrance right at the cruise terminal. We followed the signs for "MSC Parking" and first got to a stations where porters unloaded the suitcases from our trunk and put luggage tags on. We were then waved to a second station about 50 meters further where we did a last check of the car and then handed the keys to the parking attendant.

We received a parking ticket that we needed to get stamped on the ship. The 90 EUR then showed up on our onboard account. On return, they had already pulled up the cars and gave us the key after checking our parking ticket.

We booked the parking on the MSC website together with our drink packages. The price quoted on the German site was 90 EUR. In our case I think it was well worth paying the extra 20 EUR for the valet service.

Great to know, thanks! I'll see if I can get the same price from MSC USA...I think I remember seeing 120 Euros.

Simply leave your car at the luggage drop-off zone and board the ship (in some cases as an alternative there is a shuttle bus service from the car park to the terminal and vice versa). The parking charge is added to your onboard account, which you settle before disembarking. Then all you have to do is present the receipt to collect your car.

Cruise ship that departed from Port of Galveston among several cruises forced to reroute because of Hurricane Beryl

As Hurricane Beryl continues on its path, several cruise ships have adjusted their routes to steer clear of the storm. Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas,  which departed from Galveston early Sunday, is among those that changed its itinerary. 

Speaking to KHOU 11 News aboard Harmony of the Seas , Houston-area teacher and travel agent Gregory Renoud said he and his wife Jennifer are glad to be out of the storm’s track.

“The beauty of a cruise ship is that it moves, so if there is bad weather, they can move us out of the way,” he said.

When they first boarded the cruise ship, Renoud said that passengers heard an itinerary update that explained the ship’s route would change.

“The cruise director came on the loudspeaker and they told us right in the beginning, ‘here’s the plan, here’s what we’re going with, we’ll tell you if there are any changes,’” he said. 

In a written itinerary update, passengers were told that Harmony of the Seas would make port stops in Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico earlier than planned, instead of stopping in Roatan, Honduras. The itinerary change also allowed for more cruising days at sea.

In a statement, Royal Caribbean said it was making adjustments to the schedules of five different ships for the "comfort and safety" of guests and crews.

After more than 40 cruises, Renoud said he’s dealt with route changes before and he knew it was a possibility this time around.

“The cruise director told us after we’re done with Costa Maya, they’re going to take us north as fast as possible to get us out of the path of the hurricane,” Renaud said. “I’m not too disappointed. A lot of people come on the cruise to see the ports, I have a lot of fun on the ship itself. 

This week, thousands of passengers will experience those routes change on a number of different ships. Major cruise lines including Royal Caribbean, Princess, Norwegian, Carnival and Disney confirmed to KHOU 11 News Tuesday they are altering certain cruise lines scheduled stops because of Beryl.

As of 4:30 pm Monday, there were at least two dozen cruise ships still docked in the Caribbean or at ports in Mexico, according to CruiseMapper.com. 

As cruise ships prepare to leave the area, Renoud says he’s concerned about the long-term impacts Beryl will have on port cities like Cozumel and Costa Maya that can’t steer clear of the danger.

“That’s a big concern for us, we love supporting the local economy and we’re always worried about them in times like this. If there’s a big storm, it’s almost like it’s happening to your family,” he said.

On Tuesday, the Port of Galveston told KHOU 11 news its officials were also monitoring Beryl’s activities, but it was too early to tell if the storm would impact port operations.
