Great exuma, the bahamas.

And the resort goes above and beyond when it comes to what’s included. You’ll arrive to a fully stocked kitchen so you can enjoy meals in your villa. Use it to head to the tennis and bocce courts, horseshoe pits, and of course the white sand beach, where you can use kayaks, paddleboards, and fishing and snorkel gear.

2. Small Hope Bay Lodge

Andros island, bahamas.

Consider Small Hope Bay Lodge if you’re seeking a tranquil family vacation in the Bahamas while still enjoying many of the convenient amenities that come with an all-inclusive beach resort . Small Hope Bay Lodge’s 18 rustic beachfront cabins were built in the 1960s from native coral rock and wood, and they’re all eco-friendly, with solar-powered indoor and outdoor showers. The resort also has two-bedroom cabins for families.

Tweens and teens even have their own organized events to enjoy with new friends.

6. Sandals Royal Bahamian

Nassau, bahamas.

Fans of The Crown are likely familiar with the story of the Duke and Duchess of Windsor—the former King Edward VIII who abdicated to marry his American socialite lover, Wallis Simpson. Well, they were once guests at the Balmoral Club, a favorite enclave for high society in the 1940s, and this section of the Sandals Royal Bahamian is still used as luxury accommodations for current-day guests. (The Beatles also stayed here!)

ROMANTIC GETAWAYS: 12 Best Vacation Spots for Couples in North America

Perhaps the most upscale lodging at this beachfront resort, however, is a swim-up honeymoon suite on the ground floor of the Windsor Tower, which comes complete with butler service. Don’t have a royal budget? No problem: There are options for different budgets—from garden rooms to suites with outdoor soaking tubs for two.

If you tire of the multitude of activities and restaurants at this beachfront resort, you can take a five-minute jetboat ride to a private offshore island. There, dine at one of two restaurants, take a dip in the pool, relax in overwater hammocks, or even get a spa treatment on the beach.

7. Warwick Paradise Island Bahamas Adults Only

Paradise island, bahamas.

You won’t go hungry at the adults-only Warwick Paradise Island . Choose among multiple restaurants with menus focused on Asian food, Bahamian favorites, steak and seafood, and Italian dishes. Rooms at this resort have bright, sleek, and modern decor and are in a variety of different price categories.

ARRIVE PREPARED: 25 Beach Essentials You Need for Every Sun-Soaked Vacation

The high-rise resort faces south on Paradise Island, so you won’t have vast views of the ocean when you’re relaxing at the pool or beach, but you can watch boat traffic pass by. There is a free shuttle to Cabbage Beach on the north shore of the island if you’re eager for different scenery.

8. Hotel Riu Palace Paradise Island Adults Only

Hotel Riu Palace Paradise Island is a moderately priced high-rise property that caters to adults with multiple restaurants and bars (including a swim-up bar), evening shows, late-night music, a full-service spa, and plenty of included activities, like beach volleyball. This hotel on the south side of Paradise Island is right next door to the (non-all-inclusive) Atlantis resort, whose huge casino is open to the public, if you’re looking for still more entertainment.

Frequently Asked Questions about All-Inclusive Resorts and Vacationing in the Bahamas

What is the cheapest month to go to the bahamas.

High season in the Bahamas is mid-December through April. Many Americans are looking to escape the winter cold, so you’ll find higher prices across the board in those winter-into-spring months. Low season is August to November, so airfares and hotel rates will be cheaper. Note: Hurricane season is June 1 to November 30, so keep that in mind as you’re planning your trip.

Is the Bahamas expensive to visit?

Generally speaking, yes, the Bahamas can be an expensive place to visit, especially when it comes to food, drink, and upscale accommodations. That’s why all-inclusive resorts can be a cost saver, since meals are included in your room rate. Because many items need to be imported, you’ll find a markup on items that you’re accustomed to paying less for in the United States.

Is Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas all-inclusive?

No, Atlantis Paradise Island is not an all-inclusive resort. Access to the awesome water park and marine life habitats at Atlantis Paradise Island is included in the room rate, but a la carte meals at the resort’s many restaurants are pay-as-you-go.

Do resorts offer all-inclusive Bahamas packages with airfare?

Many but not all all-inclusive resorts in the Bahamas (and elsewhere) offer packages that include airfare. Benefits of booking an all-inclusive package with airfare include having a single price (which can make it easier to budget), not needing to book on your own or through a travel agent, and the fact that airport transfers are often included when you book airfare through a resort.

On the downside, it’s often difficult to get the exact flight or fare class you want, so if you’re particular about routes or sitting in premium economy or business class, make sure you have the flexibility to choose your flight before committing to booking through the resort.

Melia Nassau Beach A large oceanfront resort set on Cable Beach, the Melia Nassau Beach  (pictured above) boasts over 700 rooms and suites, which makes for a lively scene in the various large public spaces both inside and poolside. Caribbean steel-drum bands entertain as the all-inclusive premium beverages flow freely, especially in the pool bar and on the beach. There are numerous fine-dining restaurants and outdoor grills, plenty of activities to keep both adults and children entertained all day and a Kids’ Club for ages 5 to 12, with specially designed programs to keep youngsters entertained from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nightly rates are from $490 in July and August for a classic room with island view.

The elegant Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort was once the private Balmoral Club for the world’s elite; nowadays, it is a beautiful adults-only, all-inclusive beachfront haven that offers multiple swimming pools, 10 restaurants, an award-winning spa, and even a private island for secluded romance. Best of all, this Sandals truly does include everything -- from scuba diving to paddle boards, windsurfers, tennis, and sailboats. You will pay extra for spa treatments and tours off the property, but we highly suggest a visit to downtown Nassau for shopping and a tour of the three forts along the waterfront (Fort Charlotte, Fort Fincastle, and Fort Montagu), all built in the 1700s. Rates are from $500 per night.

Swimming pigs, snorkeling & lunch

Spend a day swimming with the pigs in Nassau on Rose Island. The day kicks off with a relaxing cruise through Paradise Island’s picturesque harbor, featuring stunning oceanfront mansions. Upon arrival at Rose Island, you can enjoy a wide range of activities.

The most interesting one is swimming and interacting with the pigs. You can watch them play in the water, feed them and even hold them in your hands like any other pet. Other than that, you can relax at the beach bar or join a guided snorkeling tour. If that’s not your thing, there are also hammocks and kayaks at your disposal. You can also explore the island if you wish to.

This swimming with the pigs in Nassau tour also includes optional hotel and cruise port pickup.

Rose Island tour and swimming pigs

Swimming pig in Nassau on the beach

Get ready for an exciting adventure with this swimming with pigs in Nassau excursion. It all begins with a scenic tour and a bit of karaoke, followed by a 20-minute boat ride to Rose Island. Upon reaching the island, you can enjoy the serene surroundings and take a dip in the warm, clear waters.

A special pig show is the highlight, allowing you to interact with these charming creatures, feed them , and even give them some affectionate pets. After the piggy fun, a beach bar offers refreshing drinks . A free meal and drink are also included in the price. Other than swimming with the pigs, you can relax in some of the beach chairs or play at the pool table.

The tour also includes free hotel pickup and  drop-off , bottled water and a lot of unforgettable memories. My advice is to bring cash, as the venues at the island usually don’t accept card payments.

Swimming Pigs Encounter

Enjoy a half-day adventure in Nassau with the famous swimming pigs of the Caribbean. As any other swimming with the pigs in Nassau tour, you’ll take a 30-minute boat ride to picturesque Rose Island.

Once you reach the island, you’ll be greeted by the friendliest little pigs. They love to swim in the water and have a snack. Meanwhile you can play with them, feed them or my favorite one – pet them and hold them in your hands. I really like holding the young ones, they are like a less-fluffy cat. Other than having fun with the pigs, you can enjoy the beach and the sun or buy some drinks from the bars.

The tour includes beach chairs, optional alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase at the bar, restrooms, boat transportation to Rose Island, and the delightful Piglets & Pigs encounter. Optional air-conditioned pickup and drop-off service is available from the cruise port and selected resorts.

Rum tasting excursions in Nassau

The rum tasting excursions in Nassau offer a glimpse into the Caribbean’s rich rum history. With a heritage dating back to piracy and sugarcane plantations, rum holds a special place in Nassau. This famous Bahamian spirit, once beloved by pirates, now attracts visitors seeking a taste of history and diverse flavors.

These experiences offer a delightful blend of history, culture, and, of course, exceptional rum flavors. In my opinion, they are a great way to also meet new people and have a lot of fun. Thus for me this makes them among the best excursions in Nassau, Bahamas

Rum and Food Walking Tour

rum and food tasting tour in Nassau, Bahamas

If you enjoy drinking rum or want to immerse yourself in the Bahamian spirits history, then I recommend you book this rum tasting excursion in Nassau. While the tour doesn’t include hotel pickup and drop-off, the vibrant combination of history, culture, and exquisite flavors makes this experience truly unforgettable.

The tour goes beyond a mere tasting, offering an engaging rum tutorial that deepens your understanding and appreciation for this rich spirit. The inclusion of snacks and delightful treats like 2 rum-infused bonbons, 3 cocktails, and 5 rum tastings adds a layer of indulgence to this culinary journey. On top of that, there’s also a rum cocktail mixology session included in the price.

During the tour you’ll explore two iconic destinations. First one is Graycliff Chocolatier , Nassau’s exclusive bean-to-bar chocolate factory. The second is John Watling’s Distillery , where artisanal Bahamian rums are meticulously crafted.

Rum Reggae and Rhythms excursion

rum tasting in Nassau glasses of rum

Explore Nassau with this lively rum tasting excursion in Nassau. Although the name sounds more like a party tour, you’ll actually explore a lot of what the city has to offer. In my opinion, this is one of the best excursions in Nassau, Bahamas. It’s important to note that you must be over 18 to join this excursion . Throughout the tour you’ll enjoy reggae music and a special rum punch.

Starting at the Graycliff Cigar Company , you’ll witness skilled cigar rollers and learn a lot about cigars. Then Graycliff Chocolatier offers a sweet interlude with chocolate samples. Bahama Barrels on the other hand introduces unique island-blended wines that you can sample. After that you’ll learn the art of rum-making at John Watling’s Distillery and learn more about the island’s history.

Last, this rum tour in Nassau will pass by Bob Marley’s former home for cool stories. The excursion ends at Cable Beach , one of the island’s most beautiful beaches, where you’ll have some time to relax and swim. My advice is to skip the swimming part if you had way too many drinks.

Nassau Cruise Port - 6 Best Resort Day Pass & All Inclusive Options

Nassau Cruise Port - 6 Best Resort Day Pass & All Inclusive Options

By jeremy camosse jun 2021.

These 6 Resort Day Pass options in Nassau, Bahamas provide ALL INCLUSIVE access to the beach, amenities, and more. This is the ultimate, VIP way to spend a day in Nassau!

While Nassau offers tons of great shore excursions options, we always prefer a Resort Day Pass. Even better is one with an all inclusive package.

We’ve cruised to the Bahamas a few times and have done the “standard” tours. They’re great. Nassau has amazing beaches , blue waters , weather , and people .

We’ve also realized that the most convenient way to take advantage of Nassau's assets is with a Resort Day Pass.

All Inclusive Resorts Nassau Cruise Port

Why choose a Resort Day Pass?

There are a bunch of reasons for choosing an All Inclusive Day Pass. Here are our top few.

Nassau is pretty safe. The crime rate is relatively low when compared to the other Caribbean ports. However, there are always safety risks when traveling abroad.

A resort is your best option if safety is a concern . You’ll be well protected within the confined property. Security and privacy are valuable amenities at the resorts seen below. We’ve never heard of an incident within one of Nassau’s resorts. In the rare chance of a health of security issue, these hotels have all of the resources needed to respond.

From our map above, you can see that all resorts are near your Nassau Cruise Port . It should take roughly 20 minutes to get off of your ship and to arrive at one of the resorts seen below. Once there, you’ll be in complete relaxation for hours.

Every amenity you might want will be at available. You’ll never need to worry about haggling over price, finding food, renting beach chairs, etc. And you won’t need to check your watch constantly to make sure your excursion provider will get you back on time. Your only inconvenience will be deciding which drink to order next. This is an easy “problem” to solve since most drinks are all-inclusive.

Most organized shore excursions are run by “mom and pop” shops. Many do a great job. But, they’re not held to the same standards as the resort properties. When you’re done with your snorkeling gear at the Hilton, they’ll clean and sanitize the equipment. After a tour with "Lou’s Snorkeling Fun Time", the gear might get a quick splash of Kalik before the next cruise passenger straps it on. This is a bit of an exaggeration, but hopefully you get where we’re going. The resorts will likely have newer beach chairs, fresher towels, and cleaner restrooms.

You’ll see the cost of an all-inclusive day pass averages roughly $100 per person . This is similar to the cost of a cruise excursion in Nassau. However, you’ll find much more included at a resort. A beach excursion includes many "hidden" costs. You might pay for beach access. Chair rentals will cost $20 per. Drink costs will likely be double that. Then you'll likely want to tack on events like kayaking or snorkeling.

You can easily spend $100 per person going "a la carte." And you'll likely leave a bit hungrier and "thirstier" than if the situation were all-inclusive. There's also an intangible value to the buffet style. The freedom to order whatever you want all day long is a huge bonus.

Cost Comparison All Inclusive vs Other

If you’ve gotten this far, we’ll assume you’re “all-in” for a resort day pass. The most popular resort in Nassau is the Atlantis. Most have heard of it and it’s tough to miss. The place is gigantic. It’s also the most expensive and has been accurately described as "commercial."

Some cruise passengers appreciate the grandiosity. Others want more of a “local” feel. The options we suggest below offer a range. You'll find a drastic difference in choice ranging from the Atlantis to Bob Marley's Resort!

Below you’ll find six amazing all inclusive options at Nassau’s best resorts . We’ve broken down each to show what’s included so you know exactly what to expect.

6 Nassau Resorts Near Cruise Port

with All Inclusive Options

#6 - Bob Marley Resort

#5 - Warwick Nassau Resort

#4 - Breezes Nassau Resort

#3 - RIU Palace Nassau

#2 - British Colonia Hilton

#1 - Atlantis Nassau Resort

Nassau All Inclusive Day Pass Map to Cruise Port

In the Bahamas Map above, you’ll see your six Resort Options, all offering day passes to cruisers. The cruise ship icon indicates your cruise port. You can see all are very near to where your ship will be docked!

We've analyzed every resort day pass option in Nassau, Bahamas . Below are the 6 Best Options with all of the detail you'll need to make your choice.

#6 Bob Marley Nassau Resort

Bob Marley Resort Nassau

The Bob Marley Resort ranks #6 on our Best Nassau Day Passes list. It's the most unique of our Bahamas resorts without doubt. Rather than a large hotel property, you'll find the quaint grounds owned and operated by Bob Marley's surviving family.

The property has just 16 suites, one restaurant ("Caribbean Fusion" themed), two pools, and beach access. You'll also find a music gallery highlighting the late, great, Bob Marley.

The small and private resort is great to get away from the crowds and a "must visit" if a Marley fan. If traveling with kids, you'll need to consider other options. Guests must be at least 18 years old . Some find it a big bonus that the property is "adults only."

Beach access is easy and convenient from the pool area. While it's not the biggest beach, the sand is clean and the beach is more secluded than other beaches in the Bahamas.

We were a bit wary including this on our "all inclusive resorts" list. Food and drink are NOT all-inclusive. Your day pass comes with lunch and a soft drink. Real drinks are available for purchase. If your heart is set on "all inclusive," then we have some great other options below. Your ticket does include transportation, however. You can buy a few drinks with the money otherwise spent on taxis!

Many resorts limit the day passes they sell. On busier days (typically weekends) when multiple ships are in port, it's not uncommon for these all inclusive passes to sell out. If you're planning to take advantage of this excursion option, we recommend locking it in as soon as possible. Click below to check for availability for the Bob Marley Resort.

#5 Warwick Nassau Resort

Warwick Resort Nassau

The Warwick Paradise Island ranks #5 on our Best Bahamas Day Pass list. It is a true "all inclusive" experience with all food and drinks (booze too) readily available.

From the map above, you can see that the Warwick is situated on Paradise Island. The property faces the main Bahamas Island. As such, you'll experience calmer waters than the islands other coast. But, your views are not quite as brilliant. You'll be facing the harbor and incoming ship traffic rather than the open waters.

You'll have access to the private beach for lounging, playing volleyball, fishing (rod & reel provided), and sitting at the beachside bar. Or, you can enjoy the 330k-gallon swimming pool and surrounding amenities included with your Warwick Day Pass.

The 4-star resort is for "adults only" (21+) for March, April and June and 16+ for the remaining months. Guests can expect an older, quieter atmosphere than others frequented by the cruise crowds.

#4 Breezes Nassau Resort

Breezes Resort Nassau

The Breezes Bahamas Resort & Spa ranks #4 on our Best Bahamas Day Pass list. It is a true "all inclusive" experience with unlimited food and drinks (booze too) readily available.

From St George Wharf, Breezes is a 15-minute cab drive west along the northern coast of the island. Expect spectacular views that aren't encumbered by Paradise Island. Waves should still be pretty tame as you're still protected by surrounding islands.

You'll have direct access to Cable Beach, regarded by many as the best of all Nassau beaches near cruise port . Many cruise passengers head here due to its beauty and popularity. If it gets a bit crowded, though, you'll have plenty of room to escape to the hotel's three freshwater pools.

Breezes is great for those looking to get active. The resort offers every amenity you can think of, from billiards to paddle boards. For a full list of features, check out our list below.

#3 RIU Palace Nassau Resort

RIU Palace Resort Nassau

Like the Warwick (#5), Breezes is located on Paradise Island just across the harbor from your cruise port.

From St George Wharf, Breezes it's about a 15-minute cab drive through Nassau's main city center and over the bridge.

While the Warwick faces the main island though, Breezes is on the opposite side of Paradise Island. Rather than looking at the harbor, your view is of open waters facing north. There will be nothing but blue as far as you can see.

The Swim-up bar is located within the infinity pool overlooking the Caribbean. All drinks (including premium liquor) and food are included.

The resort is "Adults Only." Guests must be at least 21 years old. If you're looking to escape the younger cruise crowd, this is a great option.

You have direct and private beach access to the RIU beach (a part of Cabbage Beach). There you can relax in a hammock, enjoy beverage service, and take advantage of the property's lounge-chairs, umbrellas and towels.

#2 British Colonial Nassau Resort

British Colonial Resort Nassau

The British Colonial Hilton is an unexpected #2 on our list of Best Nassau Resort Day Passes. For reassurance, just look at the reviews. People LOVE this place!

The Hilton easily wins the award for "Closest Resort to Nassau Cruise Port." After getting off of your ship, the property is a quick walk down the coast. It should take you less than 10 minutes to get there.

Some in our community like that it's so close and others not so much. There's benefits and drawbacks and all are subjective.

Of course there's the convenience of being so near Nassau cruise port. Many don't like to stray too far, so this is your safest bet.

Although, you'll also have the hustle and bustle of the cruise crowd since so close. And, your view while on the beach will include the cruise ships in your vista.

Also noteworthy is that the Hilton isn't fully "all inclusive." With your $82 day pass, you'll get $40 food and drink credit. You can use that on alcohol as well. We like to eat a big breakfast and spend it all at the bar... but, that's just us.

#1 Atlantis Nassau Resort

Atlantis Resort Nassau

Most cruisers have heard of the Atlantis. It's impossible to miss . While your ship is pulling into Nassau Cruise Port, there are two iconic pieces you'll notice. The lighthouse and The Atlantis.

It's worth checking out at least once. Picture Disney Land on a tropical island. Kids absolutely love this place and will have these memories forever.

You can do anything imaginable at this massive resort. From lounging on the stunning beach to swimming with dolphins to screaming down waterslides, this place has more than a day's worth of activities.

It can be a bit pricey , though. The activities included in your day pass will depend on the package you choose. You have nine different options here.

Unfortunately, none of those choices are "all inclusive." If you're hoping to tie on a Bahamian buzz, this isn't the best option.

If we had to describe The Atlantis, we'd say it's an amusement park in the most stunning location on which any theme park has been built.

Atlantis Resort Details

Adult Price: $49 - $289 Depending on the package you go with, the price will range. You can get access to the resort for $49 or "the works" for $289. In between are seven other variations to pick from. All included here . Note that the prices seen there are exclusive to cruise passengers and you won't find them cheaper anywhere else!

We highly recommend a resort day pass as an option while in Nassau. It's the most convenient excursion experience you'll find.

The options above will all depend on the cruiser. None are "bad" choices. It just depends on what you're looking for. We hope that this post helped figure out exactly which resort will provide the best experience while at Nassau Cruise Port.

We had the best time with Jay and Ryan! They were very accommodating and had good vibes all around. Highly recommend booking a tour!

We wanted to have a family day on the ocean and the tour was everything we hoped for. The captain and entire crew made us feel at home and were so accommodating. Essence gave us a day to remember, beautiful family memories in the Bahamas. The snorkeling and beach time at Rose Island was the best.

Great captain and Tripp. You get to see a lot of fish and snorkel. This is definitely your go to for a charter when you’re in the Bahamas!

We had a fantastic trip with captain Jay. He was friendly, accommodating, and we had the best day exploring, snorkelling in clear waters to spot the turtles at green key, and the fish at the coral reef at rose island. Amazing views, and a day we’ll never forget. Highly recommend!

The tour was great and the boat ride was smooth the water was amazing and learning about the Bahamian culture and history just top it off! Essence boat tours for the win!

Joey was such an enthusiastic young man! His tours are thorough and exciting! Only the best in Nassau! I’d definitely come again! 🥳 AMAZINGGG EXPERIENCE!

Joey Ford was the greatest captain I’ve ever had. He knew his way around every island and was very descriptive when describing each animal we passed. He was very enthusiastic and even went out of his way to teach me how to swim. It was a wonderful experience for me and my group and I can’t wait to give him another visit. 10/10

I booked a tour with 5 of my friends and it was such a great time! We love Essence Boat Tours and will definitely be booking again on our next trip to Nassau! Please do yourself a favor and take a trip with Jay!

Awesome experience.

Jay took a group of 4 of us out for the day. He was on time for the pickup, and gave us the best day we had on our trip to the Bahamas. We toured the famous homes on the coast, snorkeled with turtles, cruised to a private beach, and finished up with a nice lunch on another private beach. This was the proper way to tour the Bahamas with an expert guide and good vibes all day on the boat! Thanks again Jay!

My friends and I had a wonderful time with essence boat tours during our vacation. We got everything we expected and more. Will definitely booked them on our next vacation to The Bahamas.

Amazing experience and excellent service. 20/20

Always an awesome experience with Essence Boat Tours! Joey takes us to the most beautiful and secluded parts of Rose Island. His trips are always fun and entertaining. Def recommend booking a tour with Joey!

My friends and I booked a tour with essence boat tours and couldn’t have had a better time!! Everything about the experience was top notch and we got to see some of the most beautiful views! Chonky girls forever. We will definitely be back!!

Best Disney Cruise Excursions in Bahamas, Caribbean, & Bermuda

What are Disney Cruise Port Adventures?

“Port Adventures” is the name Disney uses for organized off-ship activities. You can always leave the ship for free when it’s in port, and there’s never any charge to explore on your own. A Port Adventure is an optional paid experience that offers a bit more structure to your time on shore.

Whatever you’re looking for — invigorating or relaxing, cultural or touristy, complex or simple, short or long — odds are you’ll find it offered as a Disney Cruise Port Adventure.

How Much are Shore Excursions in the Caribbean, Bahamas, and Bermuda?

There’s a Port Adventure for every budget. You can spend about $18 to rent a two-seater paddle boat at Castaway Cay — or you can charter a private fishing vessel for the day in Tortola, British Virgin Islands for $6,599.

Don’t let the priciest options scare you away. Many excursions fall well below $100 per-person and are quite reasonable.

We checked prices of all excursions Disney Cruise Line offered in the Bahamas, Caribbean, and Bermuda at the time we wrote this article, and here’s what we found:

  • $1 – $49: 103 options
  • $50 – $99: 303 options
  • $100 – $199: 186 options
  • $200 and up: 110 options

There are plenty of great options at each of the price points, and you don’t certainly don’t have to spend a huge amount to have a good time.

If you don’t mind splurging just a little, we’ve found that $125-$250 per person should be enough to buy you a truly unforgettable port adventure in the area. Though you likely wouldn’t want to spend this much in every port, it’s worth considering at least once during your cruise. And you can take heart in knowing that excursion prices in this part of the world are much more affordable than, say, Disney Cruise excursions in Alaska or European cruise excursions.

How to Get Free Excursions on a Disney Cruise

Port Adventures are not included in the cost of your Disney Cruise , but you can still get them for free if you know how.

Book your cruise through a Disney travel agent to earn Onboard Credit  for excursions and other purchases during your cruise.

The Vacationeer offers up to $1,000 in Onboard Credit when you book your cruise through them.

Your cruise won’t cost any more than if you’d booked it yourself , and they don’t charge any planning fees .

When Do You Pay for Disney Cruise Port Adventures?

In most cases, charges for your shore excursion are applied through your shipboard account; you won’t actually pay until you settle your account at the end of your cruise. That’s great news if you’re have an onboard credit from your travel agent, because it means you can use that “free money” toward your excursions.

Now, on to our list.

Castaway Cay — Best Port Adventures

A Disney Cruise Ship docked in the crystal waters of Castaway Cay

As Disney’s own private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay offers an exclusive Bahamian hideaway that’s open only to one Disney cruise ship a day — and no one else! There’s plenty to do for free on the island, but also a wide array of optional paid activities.

Bicycle Rentals (C04)

One of the most popular and cost-effective ways to explore Castaway Cay. Enjoy a one-hour bike rental as you explore nature paths and offshore terrain. Ride along the island’s historic (and historically dubious) airstrip and wheel your way to the observation tower for an elevated view of Disney’s Private Island.

Castaway Ray’s Stingray Adventure (C13)

Enter the shallow stingray lagoon for an up-close encounter. Using a specially-designed feeding ramp and tray, your guide will show you how to place food just right in your hand to allow a stingray to glide over and gobble up their meal. You’ll also have a chance to pet one of these beautiful, often misunderstood creatures. Then, grab your snorkel to observe 60+ stingrays in a beautiful lagoon. Concerned about safety? Stingrays have no teeth, and Castaway Cay keeps its captive stingrays’ barbs safely (and humanely) trimmed.

Cost: $59 for ages 10+ $48 for ages 5-9

Glass Bottom Boat Scenic Voyage (C11)

Requirements: Ages 8+ (under age 13 must fly with adult age 18+). Age 13-19 must check in with parent/guardian. Must weigh 90-375 pounds. Tandem riders max 375 pounds combined. Tandem ride may be required.

Do I Have to Book Port Adventures Through Disney?

You don’t have to book your excursions through Disney Cruise Line, but you probably should.

Shore excursions are operated by outside companies which contract with Disney. And it’s true many of them offer a substantially similar experience — often at a lower price — when booked independently. And virtually every port has information booths right outside the dock where you can book experiences directly.

So why “waste money” booking through Disney? There are a few reasons:

Peace of mind

If you’ve booked through Disney, they’ll keep track of your experience from start to finish. This is critical if the excursion run late. Disney will hold the ship to allow straggling tours to return — or pay for you to catch up to the ship at the next port-of-call. If you booked on your own, then you’re on your own.

Flexible Payment and Refunds

Port Adventures booked through Disney are charged to your shipboard account and paid at the end of your cruise. Payment for privately-booked tours is often due in full at the time they’re reserved. Disney’s excursions are also usually fully refundable up until three days before your cruise. Privately-booked excursions might have stricter rules or simply be nonrefundable.

Automatic Adjustments

Excursions booked through Disney Cruises are exclusive to Disney passengers, so there’s no worry if the ship’s schedule changes. If the ship arrives in port late, the tour won’t start without you.

If the ship’s scheduled day in port changes, your tour will be automatically adjusted, too. And if the ship has to completely miss a port for some reason, you won’t have to pay for any excursions booked there.

Extra Magic

Not that it’s a crucial part of the experience, but Disney often nudges its tour providers into providing a few extra touches on their Disney Cruise excursions.

For all of these reasons, it’s often best for you or your travel agent to book your excursions directly through Disney Cruise Line.

Disney Cruise Port Adventure FAQs

Do disney cruises visit disney world.

It’s very rare for a Disney Cruise to directly include time at Walt Disney World. In the past, Disney Cruises from New York visited Port Canaveral and included a one-day Disney world ticket. But that hasn’t been the case for a few years.

You can, however, easily add a Disney World visit immediately before or after your Disney Cruise from Florida . It won’t be included in the cost of your cruise , but you can’t argue with the proximity and convenience.

Disney Cruise Line’s primary home port is Port Canaveral , about 60 miles from Disney World. Orlando International Airport services both destinations. The Disney Cruise shuttle service transports guests between the port, the airport, and Disney World.

Your Disney Travel Agent can help you price out the cost of adding some Disney World time to your Disney Cruise.

Can You Book Excursions Once You’re Onboard?

Port Adventures can be booked onboard the ship, subject to availability. Each ship has a Port Adventures desk.

Do Disney Cruise Excursions Sell Out?

Yes, it’s common for the more popular excursions to sell out well in advance. For the best chance at getting what you want, book as early as possible. There’s no wait list, but you can keep checking to see if space becomes available.

When Can You Book Disney Shore Excursions?

For those cruising with Disney for the first time , Port Adventures can be booked 75 days prior to your sail date. The booking window opens very early — midnight Eastern Time. Your cruise must be paid in full before you can book.

Repeat passengers get an early booking advantage that varies based on Castaway Club level (the number of times they’ve cruised with Disney).

Are Port Adventures Always Guided Tours?

Port Adventures take many forms, and not all of them have tour guides. A few examples include hiring a private vehicle, renting water trikes, chartering boats, or purchasing admission to local attractions.

Are Disney Cruise Excursions Wheelchair Accessible?

Disney’s cruise ships are easily accessible to those using wheelchairs, but the accessibility of experiences offered in ports-of-call can vary. It’s easy to forget that ADA regulations apply only to the United States — it’s the Americans with Disabilities Act — so it can be a bit of a shock when you arrive in another country and find that some areas are not as accessible as one might hope.

That said, Disney now partners with Accessible Travel Solutions to offer wheelchair-accessible Port Adventures in more than 25 countries. Not every excursion will be fully accessible — and while there’s certainly room for improvement — but progress is being made.

Accessible Port Adventures typically include vehicles with wheelchair lifts/ramps, attractions and tour routes with no stairs or with elevators, bathrooms with wider doors, and guides familiar with the needs of guests with disabilities. Disney maintains a list of all its accessible Port Adventures .

We specialize in unique and boutique tours in addition to our "best for less" excursions, offering excellent value for some of the most popular tours. Island Marketing Ltd offers tours and excursions for almost every budget and individual need.

Bahamas Cruise Excursions are tour and excursion experts representing the best independent operators in Bahamas. We provide firsthand information on each and every excursion we offer and recommend the excursions that work best for you. That's the Island Marketing Ltd. difference !
