These cancelations come in the wake of allegations made against the YouTuber , who first created her satirical Miranda Sings character in 2008. The 36-year-old was first accused of grooming and forming inappropriate relationships with underage fans in 2020 and then again this past June, the latter claims Ballinger responded to with a 10-minute song posted to YouTube during which she denied any grooming claims.

Since then, she has also been accused of sharing Trisha Paytas' NSFW pictures with minors , which Paytas said Ballinger denied when the two spoke privately, and most recently, performing in blackface. Ballinger's team has since clarified she was wearing green face paint while performing as Elphaba from "Wicked" during one of her shows.

And now the content creator's "Oversharing" podcast with Paytas, which launched in May, has also been canceled after just three episodes .

"This is all very embarrassing," Paytas said in a July 9 YouTube video . "It's very embarrassing at the end of the day, I don't get embarrassed by many things, like obviously. The podcast ending after three episodes is embarrassing."

"When I say I've never wanted a chapter in my life to be over faster than this," she continued, "Even though it was a very small chapter, I mean it."

For a complete summary and timeline of the allegations made against Ballinger, keep reading.

When Colleen Ballinger  created the character Miranda Sings as a way to poke fun at teens hoping to be discovered on the Internet, the theater-obsessed, annoying AF alter ego actually turned her into a YouTube sensation.

Soon, the vocal performance major had amassed 10.7 million subscribers and landed a Netflix original series titled "Haters Back Off."

The persona was meant to be a joke between the classically trained singer and her friends, with Ballinger admitting she never thought the videos would take off.

"I had begun by posting some videos of my own performances, and then I started seeing these links from girls who would sit in their bedroom and sing into the camera," Ballinger explained to Broadway World in 2010 of Miranda Sings' origin. "I thought it was so stupid, because I didn't think anybody got famous off of YouTube."

Ballinger, now 36, and fellow YouTuber Joshua David Evans, now 39, begin dating after he watched one of her Miranda Sings clips and pursued her.

"He saw one of my videos, and he thought, 'There's got to be more to this,'" Ballinger told ABC News in 2015. "So he found videos of myself with my sister on my Facebook page.'" Evans proposed in 2014, with their engagement video garnering 2.4 million views. "There's just a lot of eyes," Evans acknowledged to ABC News. There's a lot of people who are interested in different parts of your life."

October 2016

A year after their 2014 vows, Ballinger and Evans announced they were getting a divorce, each posting a video to their individual YouTube accounts to address their breakup.

"You've watched us date, you've watched us get engaged, you've watched us get married," Ballinger said in her message. "We've shown you everything because we wanted to, and I don't regret any of that, but, you know, we chose to not share with you the hard parts of our relationship. And there were a lot of hard parts of our relationship."

In his own video, Evans stated, "I want it to be known that I am not choosing this divorce. I don't want this divorce. I want her, but I truly believe she thinks she is making the right decision right now."

December 2018

Ballinger revealed in a YouTube video recap of her year that she secretly married Erik Stocklin, the actor cast as Miranda's love interest in her "Haters Back Off" TV series.

The couple welcomed their first child, Flynn Timothy Stocklin, that month, and twins Wesley Koy Stocklin and Maisy Joanne Stocklin followed in November 2021. In a YouTube video, the influencer explained that the babies were born more than a month earlier than expected and that she had to have an emergency C-section.

"I'm okay. The babies are both okay," she shared. "They're very little and they're gonna be living in the NICU for a while probably."

Irish Content creator Adam McIntyre—who first began running a fan account for Miranda Sings in 2013 when he was just 10 years old—posted a video called "colleen ballinger, stop lying" in which he accused Ballinger of putting him in uncomfortable situations when he was a minor. Insisting that Ballinger had begun bad-mouthing him after a series of tweets he'd posted to her Miranda Sings Twitter account received backlash, McIntyre specifically called out an instance in which she sent him lingerie during a livestream.

Ballinger recorded an apology vlog in response to McIntyre's video, acknowledging, among other things, that the underwear incident was "completely stupid" and admitting, "I should never have sent that."

She had been unboxing items that had been sent to her, she explained, and she and her friend were making fun of the underwear and McIntyre asked for it to be sent to him, which she did as a joke. "I don't know what part of my brain was missing at the time that I thought, 'Oh, this is a normal, silly thing to do,'" she continued. "But I am not a monster."

Ballinger continued making content both for her Miranda Sings channel and as a family vlogger.

June 4, 2023

In a since-deleted video titled "why I left the colleen ballinger fandom…", YouTuber KodeeRants shared screenshots of an alleged text exchange between Ballinger and her followers, accusing the comedian of forming inappropriate and exploitative relationships with underage fans.

Per NBC News , the unverified group text was named "Colleeny's Weenies," with the performer allegedly asking her fans their "favorite position" during one conversation.

KodeeRants has since deleted their YouTube and Twitter accounts and NBC News was unable to verify the screenshots.

On June 7, McIntyre responded with a series of videos on his own YouTube channel, recalling a time the then-31-year-old planned to spend the day with him in Dublin ahead of a June 8, 2018 show. He said they only ended up meeting for five minutes. He also claimed Ballinger grooms her fans emotionally. Ballinger has yet to directly respond to his claims.

June 28, 2023

Despite sharing that her team advised her to not publicly comment on the allegations of grooming and forming inappropriate relationships with underage fans, Ballinger broke her silence in a musical vlog.

While playing the ukulele and singing, Ballinger compared the accusations to a "toxic gossip train" headed for "manipulation station" while the rest of the internet "tie me to the tracks and harass me for my past." As she put it, "the only thing I've ever groomed is my two Persian cats. I'm not a groomer. I'm just a loser who didn't understand I shouldn't respond to fans."

Explaining through song, she said that she was attempting "to be besties with everybody" by sending messages to fans earlier in her career. Though she added there were "times in the DMs when I would overshare details of my life—which was really weird of me—and I haven't done that in years because I changed my behavior and took accountability."

McIntyre, now 22, took to Twitter shortly after Ballinger posted her video to react to the grooming allegations and her musical response.

"im glad her video did ONE thing," he tweeted June 28," show you all EXACTLY the type of evil woman she is, that a lot of us have experienced over the past few years behind the scenes, the mask has slipped…everyone meet the REAL colleen ballinger."

as much as colleen discredited & made fun of me, im glad her video did ONE thing, show you all EXACTLY the type of evil woman she is, that a lot of us have experienced over the past few years behind the scenes, the mask has slipped…everyone meet the REAL colleen ballinger. — adam mcintyre (@theadammcintyre) June 28, 2023

June 30, 2023

After Ballinger issued her statement via song, her ex-husband Evans shared his thoughts on the controversy.

"This behavior was my reality anytime I spoke up & disagreed with her actions & rhetoric during 2009-2016," the actor tweeted on June 28. "I was gaslit too. I was made to feel like I was always the problem. Any pain I felt was an inconvenience and was belittled."

This behavior was my reality anytime I spoke up & disagreed with her actions & rhetoric during 2009-2016. I was gaslit too. I was made to feel like I was always the problem. Any pain I felt was an inconvenience and was belittled. Every ounce of what you’re feeling, I understand. — Joshua David Evans🎈 (@JoshuaDtown) June 28, 2023

The former YouTuber, who split from Ballinger after just over a year of marriage, then posted a follow-up, clarifying his intention for speaking out.

"I have no desire to use this as a catalyst for a YouTube comeback," Evans wrote. "It's not a safe place for me. I'm past that. My voice is only here to help validate those that are hurting, nothing more. I have no need to make any money off of this. That is gross & not in my heart, whatsoever."

July 3, 2023

Trisha Paytas, a fellow YouTube star who co-hosts the "Oversharing" podcast with Ballinger, was pulled into the controversy after one of Ballinger's former fans alleged that she had sent NSFW photos and videos from Paytas' OnlyFans account to him

Johnny Silvestri posted several unverified screenshots to his Twitter on July 3 of a few of the interactions between him and Ballinger, going on to claim that she would host "viewing parties" to make fun of Paytas.

In a July 3 video, Paytas responded to Ballinger's alleged behavior, saying she does "not condone, at all—sending unsolicited nudes to anybody, sex worker or not."

"I think using someone's nudes as a way to hurt them, make fun of them, make light of them, be mean, is the lowest form of human," Paytas continued. "These weren't a long time ago. This is someone well into their 30s who just gave birth, sending nudes. And a month prior, I was in [Ballinger's] house, meeting her newborn and doing a Mukbang with her."

Paytas then explained she reached out to Ballinger over the photo allegations, but that she denied them.

"I did ask her about these a couple of weeks ago," Paytas claimed. "She assured me that she had never sent photos of me, [and] that this one fan who was underage at the time would send photos to her."

Paytas concluded her video by saying, "I will never speak on Colleen again. She just does not exist to me anymore." Ballinger has not publicly responded to Paytas' video.

July 5, 2023

After YouTuber Paige Christie posted a clip of Ballinger performing Beyoncé's "Single Ladies" as Miranda Sings with dark paint smeared on her face, Ballinger's team responded.

According to law firm Berk Brettler, Ballinger had actually painted her face green to look like "Wicked's" Elphaba while performing tracks from the hit musical.

"She painted her face green like the witch," the law firm said in a statement to NBC News . "After that number, she went right into 'Single Ladies' (while still wearing the green makeup). At that time, she closed all her shows with that Beyoncé number—it was one of her most popular bits."

This was not the first time Ballinger faced accusations of racist behavior. In the same 2020 video she used to address McIntyre's claims, the content creator apologized for employing "racial stereotypes" in a decade-old video in which she and her sister pretended to be Latinx women.

"It is not funny, and it is completely hurtful," Ballinger said at the time. "I am so ashamed and embarrassed that I ever thought this was okay."

Remainder Of Colleen Ballinger's Tour Canceled Amid 'Grooming' Allegations

Associate Reporter

is the miranda sings tour cancelled

Colleen Ballinger, who is better known for her YouTube character Miranda Sings, has had the rest of her shows in her 2023 tour canceled.

Ballinger was set to appear in her comedy show, where she performs as both herself and her character, on Thursday in Boise, Idaho. Links to that event and the rest of the remaining shows on her website now go to Ticketmaster pages noting that the events are canceled.

The cancellations follow former fans telling HuffPost that they had inappropriate relationships with the 36-year-old YouTuber when some of them were teens. The former fans said that Ballinger would confide in them about her relationship problems and make sexual jokes.

Adam McIntyre, one former fan, said on his YouTube channel that Ballinger “grooms” her fans. ( In a YouTube video in which Ballinger sang the entire time, she denied “grooming.” “I’m not a groomer, I’m just a loser who didn’t understand I shouldn’t respond to fans, and I’m not a predator even though a lot of y’all think so,” she sang.)

Former fans, including one who was a minor at the time, also said that Ballinger sent them nude photos of fellow YouTuber Trisha Paytas . Paytas, a former friend and podcast co-host of Ballinger’s whose nude photos were behind a paywall on OnlyFans, said in a YouTube video that she did not “condone” Ballinger sending others her photos.

“I think it’s the most disgusting thing,” Paytas said. “And above all else, illegal.”

Fans had been pointing out the absurdity of Ballinger selling merch that had “CANCELLED” written on it when her tour was still ongoing.

Her attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ballinger has denied the claims, singing in a video (while playing a ukulele), “A lot of people are saying some things about me that aren’t quite true. Doesn’t matter if it’s true, though, just as long as it’s entertaining to you, right?”

In any case, the Miranda Sings tour dates are off. Shows that had been listed on Ticketmaster are no longer available for purchase, including dates in Boise, Minneapolis, Ann Arbor, Kansas City, Philadelphia and others. Ballinger had been scheduled to play about a dozen shows this summer.

Last weekend, Ballinger’s co-podcaster Trisha Paytas announced that the recently launched podcast Oversharing had ceased production.

“This is all very embarrassing,” Paytas said. “It’s very embarrassing at the end of the day, I don’t get embarrassed by many things, like obviously,” Paytas said. “The podcast ending after three episodes is embarrassing. Us doing all this is embarrassing…it takes a lot for me to get embarrassed.”

How the Miranda Sings/Colleen Ballinger Scandal Went Off the Rails

By Andrew Quintana

How the Miranda SingsColleen Ballinger Scandal Went Off the Rails

Colleen Ballinger has been a YouTube star for more than a decade, amassing tens of millions of followers—many of whom found her when they were teenagers, or even younger. They fell hard for her potty comedy, and specifically her fictional alter ego, Miranda Sings, a talentless adolescent who delusionally believes she can sing despite the fact that she’s always off-key. The persona resonated with outcast kids who found her desperate desire for fame to be oh-so-accurately cringe. Such success earned Ballinger a Netflix series, sold-out live shows, and, most recently, rapidly intensifying controversy.

Late last month, Rolling Stone published a story alleging that Ballinger had engaged in “inappropriate behavior” with underage fans. The magazine verified screenshots of texts in which Ballinger asked a minor about their virginity status and their favorite sexual position; she also asked them to send pictures of their body. However inappropriate her alleged behavior was, the article clarified that no sexual crime had been committed and that no evidence in review even hinted at the possibility that Ballinger had intended to start a sexual relationship with a child. Ballinger did not respond to Rolling Stone ’s multiple requests for comment.

To those steeped in the world of YouTube fandom—a chaotic, shape-shifting minefield where allegiances are fortified and swapped by the hour—many of these claims were not new. Ballinger had even already responded to some of them (on YouTube, of course). Rolling Stone ’s piece was tame—legally sound, one could argue—compared to the language and rumors that’d been flying around her for years.

Yet its publication preceded starker allegations against Ballinger getting similarly ushered into the mainstream press. A few days after the Rolling Stone piece went live, HuffPost published its own investigative report: “Her Fans Say She ‘Groomed’ Them As Teens.” In the ensuing weeks, Ballinger would be accused of everything from performing a Beyoncé song in blackface (as Miranda Sings) to texting a sex worker’s nude photo to a minor. (Ballinger’s legal team has denied she performed in blackface, saying she was wearing green face paint for a prior cover of a song from Wicked. ) Her Sings tour has since been canceled , her career abruptly stalled. When reached for comment, Ballinger’s lawyer replied in an email that VF ’s inquiries were “simply a regurgitation of the baseless and unsubstantiated claims that other media outlets and individuals on social media have reported previously.”

The reality of some of these claims, and in turn, the broader narrative around Ballinger, remains murky. Various allegations remain unverified, left to endlessly circulate as they fall under that ever-expanding umbrella of “inappropriate behavior.” In a sense, this is a familiar story for the social media age. But Ballinger’s downfall is unique. She brought teens into an adult world and made it feel like it was theirs, then saw those fans turn against her. It’s the product of a particular era of YouTube stardom, of a digital persona able to cultivate a feverish and savvy fandom that’s been trained to reverse course—and maybe, seek payback—with the first spilling of tea.

You could be forgiven if you were one of the millions who, back in the summer of 2020, allayed some COVID anxiety by diving into the YouTube drama unfolding between Ballinger and her former fan Adam McIntyre, a then 17-year-old. Ballinger was his idol; her merch could be seen all over the Irish teenager’s bedroom, where he recorded his own videos. He was an aspiring influencer himself, making sweet, low-stakes YouTube content about his life. On June 22, McIntyre posted a video to his channel titled “colleen ballinger, stop lying.”

In it, McIntyre told several seemingly unrelated stories. One recounted the time Ballinger sent him lingerie in the mail, to his mother’s horror (the lingerie was new and unworn, and Ballinger has since apologized for sending it). Another was intended to debunk the rumor that he was secretly behind some anti–Miranda Sings social media accounts that Ballinger had gotten wind of. A third concerned the fallout of a tweet that Ballinger allowed McIntyre to post—as Miranda Sings, from the character’s Twitter account—that led to him never posting on her behalf again. He’d been considered her “social media intern,” he said, with hopes of being employed by her one day in that capacity. (Ballinger says he only had access to her account for one day, and that if all went well, she had planned to hire him formally.) The tweet in question was seized upon as queerbaiting by Miranda’s fandom (she “came out” as a Meghan Trainor fan), and led to intense backlash.

It might sound strange to hear that Ballinger had put a fan in charge of her character’s Twitter to begin with, but that access went in line with her public image. Ballinger was closely aligned with her most devoted (young) viewers. For her to remove that access, as McIntyre experienced, felt painful. McIntyre felt that Ballinger was guilting him, selfishly preoccupied with her reputation rather than his feelings. (After the backlash, she apologized for the tweet. Later, she denied ever blaming McIntyre and said she should’ve reviewed his tweets more carefully.)

Then came the YouTube response to McIntyre’s YouTube accusation—a classic back-and-forth. (If the names James Charles and Tati Westbrook mean anything to you, you get the idea.) Ballinger, 33 at the time of her response to a teenager, posted a classic apology vlog. She revealed screenshots of Instagram DMs she’d sent to McIntyre and one that McIntyre’s mother had purportedly sent to her, which seemed to be Ballinger’s way of assuring viewers of what “really” happened, a strategy not unlike McIntyre’s. In a DM, she accuses him of going “too far,” supposedly in response to him asking her to imagine her newborn son being taken advantage of in the same way he felt he had been. She also elaborated upon the lingerie incident: During a live stream giveaway with her fans, Ballinger explained, McIntyre had asked for the article of clothing. According to her, he’d even send photos of himself jokingly posing in the underwear to group chats that included Ballinger and her most noted fans. Ballinger painted a seemingly accurate portrait of the Miranda Sings community: a silly place for kids like McIntyre to belong, looking up to an increasingly famous and powerful public figure. “I’m not a monster, I’m not a groomer, and I do not deserve to die,” Ballinger said in the video, alluding to the possibility that she’d received death threats.

Public opinion—or at least YouTube fandom—swayed back toward Ballinger, though the pendulum would swing back and forth for years. McIntyre established a new YouTube identity as Ballinger’s whistleblower, frequently posting new videos—and racking up hundreds of thousands of views—by commenting on the hypocrisy of her every move . Meanwhile, Ballinger continued to work on a YouTube channel that was far from her Miranda Sings satire. “Colleen Vlogs” offered wholesome lifestyle content about her kids. McIntyre appeared to seize on this, accusing Ballinger’s brother’s family—“the Ballinger family,” who have a family-oriented channel—of endangering and “exploiting” their children online. “How creepy that I feel I watched them grow up,” he said. “It’s disgusting.” His critique gave way to a denunciation of family channels more broadly.

For years, this drama was very insular, and it probably should’ve stayed that way. But on June 7, McIntyre posted an anti-Ballinger video, as he does every so often . This one was titled “my relationship with colleen ballinger.” He had new details, he claimed, describing staying up with her back when they were close, and listening to her talk about her divorce. According to McIntyre, she embroiled him in a hateful campaign against her ex-husband. Then he came to a realization that shocked YouTube: “This woman used me. This woman groomed me.”

The line set in motion yet another stream of blowback against Ballinger, but this time, the word “grooming” captured the attention of the mainstream press as well.

The substance of Ballinger’s alleged grooming has not gone beyond what McIntyre has described in his videos, or what a few other fans alleged thereafter. It has not been interrogated by media outlets reporting on the controversy either. HuffPost’s published allegations of “grooming” flexibly employ the term in a fashion not unlike how it’s weaponized in right-wing circles against LGBTQ+ people; the described behavior does not approach the sexual exploitation or abuse that the actual definition of “grooming” indicates.

The perception of Ballinger as a “groomer” nonetheless snowballed. Ballinger eventually decided to —what else—post another video on YouTube. She took out her ukulele to awkwardly sing through her defense, implying the internet seized upon allegations that she’s a groomer for entertainment. She said she wanted her fans to be her friends, admitting that desire was wrong. “I’m not a groomer,” she sang, “just a loser.”

The apology was roundly mocked—especially on YouTube, where parodies have already gotten millions of views . Soon, an old video of Miranda Sings performing “Single Ladies” in dark green makeup was unearthed by former fans—to find it, you needed to have a copy of her book with a QR code linking to it—who said it looked like she’d performed in blackface. Her lawyer sent out a statement explaining the use of the makeup; headlines were changed, though corrections were not issued .

McIntyre and another former fan have also alleged that Ballinger sent them nude photos from a sex worker, posting unverified, if troubling, text messages as proof. Racially insensitive comic performances she performed as Miranda Sings— that Ballinger later apologized for —have roared back on social media. All of this is being filtered into the current YouTube content machine, wrongdoing exposed with a relentlessness that could rival the anti– Amber Heard brigade.

After Ballinger posted her ukulele video, McIntyre posted a reaction on Twitch . He was incredulous that Ballinger hadn’t apologized to him in private—a reminder, perhaps, that their relationship had reached a turning point years earlier when he sent out a tweet that briefly got Miranda Sings canceled.

Back then, a teenage McIntyre perhaps hoped for sympathy, another chance, a way back into the Ballinger fold. The internet is generally too cruel for that, its judgments too swift. But one can look at the devolution of the Miranda Sings empire and see that the longer it drags out, the harder it is to pin down the exact truth. Justifiable outrage turns to silly memes and headlines and videos. If there’s one thing the saga of Colleen Ballinger and her fans has taught us, it’s that today’s YouTube winner is tomorrow’s loser.

Colleen Ballinger ’s forthcoming tour dates have been cancelled following allegations of grooming made against the YouTube star.

The comedian and internet personality is best known for her online character Miranda Sings, a deluded and poorly dressed wannabe singer who posts videos online. Ballinger, 36, also posts videos and creates content under her name.

In June, multiple former members of the Miranda Sings fan club came forward and alleged that Ballinger “groomed” them.

Public allegations against Ballinger date back to April 2020 when Adam McIntyre, now 22, claimed in a YouTube video that the internet personality developed an imbalanced, unhealthy friendship with him when he was as young as 13.

Ballinger denied the allegations in a video posted on her second channel, Colleen Vlogs. In the video, Ballinger – who starred in Netflix series Haters Back Off – played the ukulele while calling the allegations “lies” and “toxic gossip” and saying that she never had “any bad intentions”.

David Tennant savagely roasts Alex Jones during One Show interview

In the video’s description: Ballinger wrote: “I do not condone or support any kind of online bullying or hate towards anyone. Ever.”

Ballinger had been performing a string of live dates across the US in May and June, with the tour scheduled to restart in Boise, Idaho on Thursday (13 July).

However, despite many tour dates still being listed on Ballinger’s website , every link clicks through to websites stating that the shows have been cancelled.

According to her website, the show was “open to all ages and rated PG13 due to some adult references and expletives that appear briefly on a screen”.

Back in 2020, McIntyre made his first video calling out Ballinger for her alleged behaviour. McIntyre reportedly first met Ballinger in 2014 at a tour stop in Dublin during a “very professional” interaction.

Two years later, they spoke directly during one of Ballinger’s livestreams in 2016. During the livestream, Ballinger reportedly promised she would send some of her “ugly” and unused clothes to a few of her fans. McIntyre claims he received a set of her underwear shortly after.

Ballinger previously admitted sending McIntyre a bra and underpants in a 2020 apology video , in which she said: “I don’t know what part of my brain was missing at the time. But I am not a monster, I am not a groomer, and I shouldn’t kill myself.”

Following Ballinger’s response to the 2023 allegations about her, McIntyre tweeted: “As much as colleen discredited & made fun of me, im glad her video did ONE thing, show you all EXACTLY the type of evil woman she is, that a lot of us have experienced over the past few years behind the scenes, the mask has slipped…everyone meet the REAL colleen ballinger [sic].”

Amid a cloud of controversies, YouTuber and comic Colleen Ballinger (a.k.a. Miranda Sings) has had the dates on her ongoing comedy tour canceled.

All of the live shows for Ballinger have been canceled after a slew of controversies including inappropriate relationships with underage fans and a resurfaced video of her dancing to “Single Ladies” in what appeared to be blackface (According to her legal reps, Ballinger had her painted green because she previously performed as a witch from the musical Wicked).

While she denied the claims, her apology video — which was posted on YouTube — titled “hi.” gained a lot of attention as she played the ukulele and sang, “A lot of people are saying some things about me that aren’t quite true. Doesn’t matter if it’s true, though, just as long as it’s entertaining to you, right?”

Be that as it may, Ballinger’s Miranda Sings tour dates are no longer happening. Ticketmaster listings now say “canceled.” However, the Miranda Sings tour website still lists the shows. There were supposed to be shows in Boise, ID, Minneapolis, MN, Kansas City, MO, and more.

The tour cancellation comes soon after Ballinger’s podcast, which she co-hosts with Trisha Paytas, titled “Oversharing,” had ceased production. It had only run for three episodes prior to shutting down.

Colleen Ballinger is a comedian, YouTuber, actress, writer, and singer. She gained notoriety for creating and starring in Haters Back Off for Netflix and even voiced characters in Ralph Breaks the Internet and The Angry Birds Movie 2. She has a number of YouTube channels with millions of subscribers.

Miranda Won’t Sing: Colleen Ballinger Cancels Her Live Tour

The YouTuber’s tour dates have quietly disappeared weeks after multiple ex-fans alleged that she and others in her circle had formed toxic relationships with them as teens.

Colleen Ballinger’s “Toxic Gossip Train” is still chugging along. Weeks after multiple fans came forward alleging that the YouTuber and others in her circle formed toxic, emotionally exploitative relationships with them as teens, NBC News reports that her upcoming live shows have been canceled.

Ballinger had been on tour as her alter-ego, Miranda Sings, since April, and had been scheduled to play about a dozen shows in the U.S. this summer, including dates in Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, and St. Louis. Now, most of her tour dates contain a “Cancelled” tag on Ticketmaster . The stops listed through partner sites also seem to link out to broken or “Cancelled” pages. Tour links on Ballinger’s website also come up canceled, broken, or with no dates listed.

At the same time, Ballinger’s recently released, not-so-apologetic apology song, “Toxic Gossip Train,” has popped up on streaming platforms including Apple Music and Tidal, leading some fans to speculate that the YouTuber is attempting to monetize the song. Ethan Klein, whose H3 Podcast recently ran an episode about Ballinger, has alleged on Twitter that she has uploaded the song to music distributor CD Baby and is “claiming” the show to profit from its use.

A source with knowledge of the situation told The Daily Beast that the song was uploaded to streaming platforms without Ballinger’s authorization.

Earlier this summer, multiple former Ballinger fans came forward alleging that she’d formed toxic relationships with them while they were teenagers. None of the former fans alleged that Ballinger solicited sex from them, but they did allege that she spoke with them for hours on end in group chats, in which she allegedly made inappropriate remarks and leaned on the teens for emotional support.

One former fan, 2o-year-old Adam McIntyre, first spoke out against Ballinger in 2020. He told The Daily Beast in a recent interview that at the time, “Absolutely no one wanted to hear me out. No one wanted to hear any take that wasn’t the popular one—which was her take.”

Ballinger posted a response video back then, in which she denied being a “groomer” or a “monster” but did admit she made the “silly, stupid mistake” of sending a 13-year-old McIntyre unused lingerie “as a joke” after a live-streamed giveaway.

This time around, Ballinger responded to fans’ allegations with a 10-minute song uploaded on June 28, accompanied by a ukulele performance . The YouTuber trilled about the “toxic gossip train” allegedly trying to run her over and insisted that she would not admit to “lies and rumors” that she claims were “made up for clout.” At one point in the song, she sings, “The only thing that I’ve ever groomed is my two Persian cats. I’m not a groomer, I’m just a loser.”

News of Ballinger’s tour cancellations has already swept Twitter. McIntyre’s response? A clip from Family Guy where Peter and Brian grab beers from the fridge while Peter’s daughter, Meg, weeps uncontrollably.

Ballinger’s tour isn’t the only project of hers to have fallen apart in the wake of this year’s controversy. Trisha Paytas, who launched the podcast Oversharing with Ballinger this year and recently addressed the allegations that Ballinger shared and ridiculed her adult content with fans , also confirmed Saturday that their collaboration is no more. In a YouTube video posted to her channel, Paytas said, “When I say I’ve never wanted a chapter in my life to be over faster than this, even though it was a really small, quick chapter, I mean it.”

Miranda Sings CANCELS remaining tour dates amid string of controversies

YouTuber Colleen Ballinger has cancelled all of her remaining dates of her Miranda Sings Tour after a string of controversies including allegations of 'grooming' fans and 'racist' behavior - both of which she denies

Colleen Ballinger takes the stage as her famous YouTube character Miranda Sings with bright red overlined lipstick

YouTuber Colleen Ballinger has cancelled all of her remaining dates of her MirandaSings Tour in the wake of allegations of 'grooming' fans and 'racist' behavior. Her podcast she was co-hosting with YouTube personality Trisha Paytas has also been called off.

The comedian famous for her eccentric and playful persona as Miranda Sings, known for her signature overlined red lipstick and striped shirts, has recently faced allegations of 'grooming' fans, inappropriate behavior on her Netflix show Haters Back Off, and accusations of racist behavior.

Ballinger denies the racist behaviour and dismisses the allegations of grooming as being part of a "toxic gossip train". She has not given a reason for cancelling her tour and podcast or commented on her reason for her hiatus.

The YouTube star, with more than 20 million subscribers, was in the middle of her live tour when the allegations came to light and has cancelled the remaining shows. It has been confirmed that fans will be refunded for their tickets, but there has been no announcement that the performances will be rescheduled.

This month videos of Ballinger have resurfaced, showing her in her Miranda Sings character making sexual comments to fans. People began sharing their stories after Adam McIntyre, first posted a two hour long video detailing his alleged relationship with Ballinger. McIntyre claimed the YouTuber 'groomed' him and a group of teenagers in the 2010s, when she was in her thirties, providing screenshots of texts that he claims she sent or was involved in.

Ballinger broke her silence posting a 10-minute long video singing and playing the ukulele explaining her side of the story. In the video, she also describes the allegations as a "toxic gossip train" that has been fueled with hateful accusations. She admits to the messages but claims that she was not doing it "in a creepy way" but just a "loser" trying to be cool and make "besties." She added that she felt like she was the "weird aunt" of her fanbase but reflects that she should've created better boundaries.

Ballinger also recently started a podcast named Oversharing with Paytas on May 23, but it has since been cancelled. Paytas announced that the podcast ended after only three episodes, a decision she made after seeing screenshots from Ballinger's 'grooming' allegations.

Paytas posted a video July 9 sharing her reaction to the podcast ending. In the video, Paytas said: "This is all very embarrassing. It's very embarrassing at the end of the day, I don't get embarrassed by many things, like obviously. The podcast ending after three episodes is embarrassing."

In addition to 'grooming' allegations, the Internet personality has also faced accusations of 'racist' behavior, including saying the N-word and dancing in what appeared to be blackface.

In her two season long Netflix show Haters Back Off in 2016, a show based on Miranda Sings telling her story, a former employee claimed that Ballinger used the N-word on set and wrote stories filled with offensive content. In the article , the ex-employee April Korto Quioh wrote she was: "tasked to aid Colleen as she pursued her singular goal of shoving as much incestual innuendo into the show as possible."

After the racist accusations, a clip of Ballinger dancing posted in 2018 also resurfaced. In the video, the YouTuber was seen in what appeared to be blackface dancing to Beyoncé's song Single Ladies. But the comedian later came out in a statement saying she was not in blackface, and that her face was painted green because she was performing as the witch Elphaba from Wicked.

Ballinger has not personally made a statement about her tour being called off or the cancellation of her new podcast.

“When I say I’ve never wanted a chapter in my life to be over faster than this, even though it was a really small chapter, I mean it,” Paytas said in the video.

She went on to say that “the podcast ending after three episodes is embarrassing.”

“We did invest a lot into this, like I really was just so excited to do something produced,” Paytas continued. “And then it all went to crap, but it’s for the better, and now I’m just trying to pivot.”

Paytas previously condemned Ballinger in a YouTube video July 3 after Ballinger was accused of sharing Paytas’ adult content with her minor fans .

Representatives for Ballinger did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Ballinger, who is known for her comedic alter ego, Miranda Sings, has been accused of grooming and having exploitative relationships with young fans. As a result, some former fans and critics have called on venues and other YouTubers to cut ties with her.

Ballinger was in the midst of a national tour when she was called out by former fans online. While some shows were canceled last week, the remaining stops were pulled on Monday evening. All Miranda Sings shows listed on Ticketmaster are unavailable for purchase.

MORE ALLEGATIONS

News of the canceled tour comes after allegations against Ballinger began piling up.

April Korto Quioh, who worked in three different positions on Ballinger's Netflix show, Haters Back Off!, wrote a newsletter alleging racist behavior on Ballinger's part, including use of the N-word.

“I recall overhearing her once brag that a creator was being ‘canceled’ for saying the n-word (and if you think she went with ‘N-word’ instead of hitting that hard ‘r,’ then you haven’t been paying attention) and that she would never be stupid enough to get caught doing something like that," she said.

Quioh also claimed that Ballinger labeled "POC background actors" as "distracting," and requested an Asian market be changed to a bodega and that the "Asian s**t" be removed from the set.

Quioh alleged that Balinger "had a knack for making ‘funny,’ biting comments about the people around her, and since we all had her to thank for our jobs, we were forced to just go with it," according to the newsletter, per  BuzzFeed .

"She saw no issue with commenting on my hair, or my clothes, or asking about my personal life.

"Her lack of boundaries was remarkable.”

'TOXIC GOSSIP TRAIN'

Quioh came forward after allegations were made against Ballinger by fellow content creator  Adam McIntyre .

McIntyre claimed in 2020 that Ballinger "groomed" and used him for content when he was a minor.

McIntyre said that he first discovered Ballinger as Miranda Sings in 2012 and instantly became a fan of hers.

He claimed that in 2016, he and Ballinger started talking on a "more personal level" and became "good friends."

At this time, McIntyre would have been 13 and Ballinger was already in her 30s.

Following McIntyre's claims, several others have come forward with allegations against Ballinger.

Ballinger then  broke her silence on the claims with a bizarre video.

"Even though my team has strongly advised me to not say what I wanna say, I recently realized that they never said I couldn’t sing what I wanna say," she said  while strumming her ukelele .

In the 10-minute video, Ballinger is seen singing about a "manipulation station" and "mob mentality" that favors rumors or facts.

"All aboard the toxic gossip train," she sings toward the beginning of the video.

"Chugging down the tracks of misinformation."

Ballinger stops singing several times to deliver an almost spoken-word response as she acknowledged her "weird" relationship with her fans early in her career.

She separately denied the grooming accusations against her.

In the video, Ballinger doesn't address McIntyre by name but makes references to his video and the allegations he made against her.

"Someone had made a video saying some shocking and hurtful things about me and a lot of you wanted me to address it," she said.

Colleen Ballinger faces canceled live shows and podcast after inappropriate conduct accusations

By Caitlin O'Kane

July 10, 2023 / 4:49 PM EDT / CBS News

Several of YouTube star Colleen Ballinger's live shows have apparently been canceled in the wake of accusations of  inappropriate conduct  with minors and other bad behavior online, and her podcast partner Trisha Paytas also said they would no longer work together, ending their podcast "Oversharing" after three episodes.

Ballinger, who started posting comedic videos online about 15 years ago under the character "Miranda Sings," posted an apology video last week after fans resurfaced allegations of past inappropriate relationships with minors, including accusations that she sent a pair of underwear to a teenager in 2016 and sexualized minors during her live shows.

The 36-year-old plays the ukulele in the apology video, which many fans criticized as insensitive. She said the rumors are just part of a "toxic gossip train," and while she admitted to making mistakes, she said her behavior has since changed.

Days later, a social media user resurfaced video taken five years ago that shows Ballinger dancing to Beyonce's "Single Ladies" in what appears to be blackface.

The video in question is still up on the YouTube page Ballinger created for her character  Miranda Sings , an awkward tone-deaf singer with smudged red lipstick, which some have criticized as mocking people with disabilities.

Paytas, a fellow YouTuber, said she and Ballinger would no longer work on their new podcast "Oversharing" together. "Bottom line is I really do feel for the people involved. I had relationships like this when I was underage that truly traumatized me," she said in a YouTube video posted Saturday.

Paytas said the inappropriate relationships she experienced as a minor were not sexual. She said the accusations against Ballinger were "triggering" and said she was still in shock and "embarrassed" to have to end the podcast after just three episodes.

In recent years, Ballinger has pivoted to more vlog-style videos on her personal YouTube page, where she has more than 3 million subscribers. Her "Miranda Sings" YouTube channel is still popular – with 10.7 million subscribers – and she continues to perform as the character at live shows.

While tickets are still available for some show dates – which are scheduled between July and October – shows at some venues have been canceled or are no longer appearing on venues' calendars.

The Sheldon Concert Hall in Saint Louis posted that the "Miranda Sings" show scheduled for Aug. 10 had been canceled. The Aug. 12 event is no longer listed on the website for the Kiewit Concert Hall at Holland Performing Arts Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Her scheduled performance Oct. 6 at Kitty Carlisle Hart Theater in Albany, New York,  is no longer listed on the venue's site.  And the Carolina Theater in Durham, North Carolina, is no longer listing her performance at Fletcher Hall, originally scheduled for Sept. 8. It was not clear if the cancellations were related to the accusations.

CBS News has reached out to a representative for Ballinger for comment and is awaiting response.

A man named Adam McIntyre, who accused Ballinger of sending him underwear, in  an interview with the Huffington Post  last month also accused her of saying inappropriate things to him online when he was a teen. He said Ballinger manipulated a group of teens she spoke to on a group chat and emotionally vented to them about her divorce. Ballinger addressed the underwear incident and other criticisms in 2020, but McIntyre and other TikTok users recently resurfaced the controversies.

Another TikTok user accused Ballinger of making her feel "sexually violated" when she called her up on stage during one of her live shows when she was 14 years old.

What is going on with Colleen Ballinger, of Miranda Sings fame?

Colleen ballinger, whose miranda sings character went mainstream in netflix's haters back off , addresses grooming accusations in musical response video.

What is going on with Colleen Ballinger of Miranda Sings fame

After a day of news that could’ve fueled its own “ We Didn’t Start The Fire ” reboot, Twitter timelines everywhere suddenly flooded with one last absurdity: Colleen Ballinger reaching for a ukulele. You’d be forgiven for thinking this was a time capsule from 2009, when the twee aesthetic reigned and Ballinger’s Miranda Sings character was one of YouTube’s first bonafide celebrities. But this is a video from 2023, and Ballinger is attempting to apologize for serious accusations of grooming her fans by breaking into song.

To understand what’s going on, we have to rewind to 2020, when a YouTuber named Adam McIntyre shared the negative experiences he had with Ballinger as a longtime Miranda Sings fan. He became a fan when he was nine years old, eventually running a Twitter fan account and subsequently joining an “inner circle” of stans with whom Ballinger would communicate directly. McIntyre accused Ballinger of sending him inappropriately sexualized messages (like asking his favorite sex position) while he was a teenager, and even mailing him a set of underwear (bra and panties) after telling fans she wanted to get rid of “ugly” unused clothes, per HuffPost U.K. In response, Ballinger denied accusations of grooming, but admitted to sending the underwear, saying it was a “stupid” thing for her to do.

Related Content

Ballinger’s fans turned on McIntyre after he came forward with his accusations (which also included Ballinger exploiting him for the free labor of posting on her social media accounts). Otherwise, the controversy died down until June 2023, when another fan came forward to corroborate McIntyre’s story. Since then, the floodgates have opened and many fans have chimed in with their own negative stories of being bullied or manipulated by Ballinger and her friends and family.

Per a Rolling Stone report, these issues range from body shaming to being sexualized on stage. Some of her inner circle fans (members of a group chat called “Colleenies Weenies”) felt Ballinger tacitly encouraged them to attack her detractors online, including her ex-husband. Multiple fans, who were high schoolers at the time, shared that Ballinger would unload on them about her ex Joshua Evans’ “emotionally abusive” ways and the devastation of their breakup. At least one fan, Johnny Silvestri, spoke of being hired in a professional capacity (to work on Ballinger’s Miranda Sings tour), where he was exploited, verbally abused, and drawn into a toxic dynamic (one that Evans, at least, has acknowledged and apologized for).

Ballinger broke her silence on this deluge of accusations on Wednesday in the most baffling manner, literally evoking a classic Ariana Grande Victorious meme : “Even though my team has strongly advised me to not say what I want to say, I recently realized that they never said that I couldn’t sing what I want to say,” she vocalized while strumming that ukulele. Her ten-minute musical response video turns the blame on the “toxic gossip train,” arguing that “I’m not a groomer, just a loser.” She acknowledges transgressing boundaries with fans, “but not in a creepy way like a lot of you are trying to suggest.” Further, Miranda Sings—a character leveraged into the short-lived Netflix series Haters Back Off in 2016—was always a PG-13 enterprise, she says (or sings).

The non-apology apology video would already be raising eyebrows for the embittered way Ballinger insists that she already has taken accountability, “but that’s not the point of your mob mentality, is it?” To do so in song has only served to make the controversy even more viral than it already is. Miranda Sings was a very specific product of its time—down to the problematic early 2000s racial stereotyping —and now it seems we’re witnessing the sun finally set on the character, as well as, perhaps, an entire era of YouTube.

What to Know About the Controversy Around YouTuber Colleen Ballinger

Colleen Ballinger as Miranda Sings at the Nickelodeon Kids' Choice Awards

Y ouTuber Colleen Ballinger, who is best known for her awkward, controversial character Miranda Sings, has recently come under renewed scrutiny for what some fans have said were inappropriate conversations and on-stage interactions beginning in the early 2010s when they were minors. Multiple fans have posted screenshots of conversations that they say demonstrate that Ballinger, now 36, raised mature subjects like virginity and sexual positions or manipulated them to help her defend against any sort of online criticism that has been levied against her.

In separate conversations with TIME, three former fans detailed their experiences with Ballinger and reflected on how the aftermath of their relationships with her has affected them in their adult lives. In a video response posted on June 28, several weeks after fans began coming forward, Ballinger addressed the controversy.

The recent criticism echoes an online dustup that emerged in 2020 when YouTuber Adam McIntyre shared that he felt he had been used and manipulated by Ballinger from age 13. In a YouTube video, McIntyre accused Ballinger, 20 years his senior, of sharing inappropriate personal details with him and using content he came up with for her YouTube channel and Twitter account without paying him. After McIntyre posted his video, Ballinger publicly apologized, but many of her fans ostracized him online by removing him from group chats and ending their longstanding friendships with him.

More from TIME

Fans who are speaking up now say that the way McIntyre was treated by the Ballinger fandom dissuaded them from sharing their own stories at the time. That is, until early June when a YouTuber named KodeeRants uploaded a video, which was later deleted, in which they say that back in 2020, Ballinger sent them screenshots of her conversations with McIntyre that Ballinger felt cleared her name and successfully persuaded Kodee to make a video defending her back.

This caused some fans to reconsider the experiences they had with Ballinger and determine, in hindsight, that they felt they were inappropriate. Several have since come forward on social media, including one named Johnny Silvestri, who says he had been in group video calls beginning at age 15 with other then-underage fans, as well as with Ballinger, her ex-husband Joshua David Evans, and sometimes her brother Trent Ballinger (her family members were frequent guests in her vlogs, and many fans formed what they saw as friendships with her siblings). Becky (who prefers not to share her last name) said she had an experience on-stage at a Miranda Sings show she felt was inappropriate.

Ballinger did not respond to multiple requests for comment from TIME. On June 28, she spoke publicly for the first time since former fans began speaking up. In a video posted to her vlog channel (not her main channels) titled “hi.,” Ballinger says her team advised her not to respond to the allegations, but that they never told her she couldn’t sing. The creator then begins strumming a ukulele and singing a song about the “toxic gossip train” and how people “made up rumors for clout.” Ballinger also says “I’m not a groomer, I’m just a loser,” adding that the only thing she’s ever groomed were her cats.

The response to her video, which racked up more than 2 million views in less than 24 hours, was swift and negative. One users on Twitter called it the “ worst apology video .” Many criticized her decision to sing the apology and play a ukulele because they felt it minimized the allegations levied against her.

Colleen Ballinger really thought singing “I’m not a groomer I’m just a loser” was a cute way to respond to the very SERIOUS allegations that’ve been levied against her and…it’s beyond sick. pic.twitter.com/0Push2Pjww — Franchesca Ramsey (@chescaleigh) June 28, 2023

Evans, meanwhile, posted an apology to Silvestri on Twitter and wrote in an emailed statement to TIME that his voice was “taken from [him] back in 2016-2020 after years of online harassment and threats that came as a result of false accusations and extremely manipulative embellishments from my ex-wife.” He goes on to say that while he understands he should not have had conversations with Silvestri when the latter was a child, Evans feels that many of Silvestri’s accusations are “misleading and inaccurate.”

ZocDoc, a sponsor on Ballinger’s podcast RELAX! , which she co-hosts with her current husband Erik Stocklin, confirmed to TIME they have cut ties with Ballinger. Another sponsor, OneSkin, told TMZ that they no longer have a professional relationship with the YouTuber, saying, “We were made aware of this previously and have decided to cease the relationship completely. This behavior is appalling, and we do not condone or support it in any form.”

In addition to Ballinger, TIME contacted Kodee and reached out multiple times to Ballinger’s friend, Kory DeSoto, who has also come under fire for participating in a 2020 incident in which he and Ballinger sent lingerie to McIntyre. None have responded to requests for comment.

It’s helpful to go back to the beginning to understand how we got to this moment. Here’s everything you need to know about the controversy.

Who is Colleen Ballinger a.k.a. Miranda Sings?

Ballinger has billed herself as a family-friendly YouTuber for more than a decade. Her first and primary channel , which consists of content she makes with her kids, family, and friends, has more than 8.6 million subscribers. But she truly rose to popularity with another channel dedicated to her fictional character, Miranda Sings—a disheveled adult child with poorly applied red lipstick who aspires to become a star. She’s said in the past that the character is a satirization of YouTube musicians and theater performers who think they’re more talented than they are. The Miranda Sings channel, which launched in 2008 and hit its stride by 2012, has amassed over 10 million subscribers. Across the two channels, her videos have been viewed over 4.2 billion times . She also had a Netflix series, Haters Back Off , from 2016-2017.

Like many other content creators, Ballinger has faced controversy in the past , including for a 2006 video in which she and her sister pretended to be Latinx women, drawing upon racial stereotypes , and another a Twitter stunt in which she “came out” as a Meghan Trainor fan, which led some to say that she was making light of the coming-out process for LGBTQ individuals. By and large, though, her dedicated fans accepted her apologies , allowing her to sustain her popularity.

Who is Adam McIntyre and what are his accusations against Ballinger?

In 2020, McIntyre became the first known ex-fan to speak up about his experiences with Ballinger in a video he uploaded to YouTube titled, “Colleen Ballinger, stop lying.” In it, he says that from December 2017 to March 2020, he wrote content for the Miranda Sings character and did not receive payment. He says that he would send her ideas for videos and tweets, that he was given the password to the Miranda Sings Twitter account, and told Ballinger about his idea for Miranda to “come out” as a Meghan Trainor fan. She was hesitant, as screenshots of the conversation in his video show, but agreed to let him upload the “coming out” post. However, shortly after the post was uploaded, she started receiving criticism online, with fans accusing her of “making fun” of coming out. She later tweeted out an apology .

pic.twitter.com/SGIEWwOHf9 — Colleen Ballinger🎗 (@ColleenB123) March 27, 2020

McIntyre shared screenshots of his conversation with Ballinger at the time, in which he says he believes she was trying to “guilt” him because she said, “everyone thinks I’m homophobic.” He apologized privately and logged out of the account. In his video, McIntyre also shared screenshots of a conversation with Ballinger in which she asked McIntyre to be her “social media intern” and told him that if he performed “well,” then she would officially hire him “part-time for an hourly rate.” However, following the Trainor Twitter debacle, he says he was never compensated.

In McIntyre’s video, he also discussed how beginning when he was 13, Ballinger fostered a close relationship with him that went beyond the typical parasocial relationship between fans and celebrities, a relationship in which one party puts effort into the relationship while the other is unaware of their existence. In the video, he explained this happened largely via a Twitter group chat with Ballinger and in private messages.

While it’s common for fans to have parasocial relationships with content creators online, it’s less common for those creators to go out of their way to reciprocate those relationships with fans beyond a rare response to an online comment or brief meet-and-greet. Ballinger’s case has drawn attention in part due to the age gap between her and her fans as well as McIntyre’s allegation that the relationship was nurtured through constant communication.

McIntyre said in his 2020 video that Ballinger and her friend, Kory DeSoto (who has since deleted his Twitter account), mailed him lingerie that DeSoto had worn over his clothes during a livestream that Ballinger hosted with DeSoto when McIntyre was 13. In resurfaced clips of the livestream , Ballinger and DeSoto could be heard laughing about how “funny” it would be as they envisioned his parents’ reaction.

According to McIntyre, Ballinger also divulged private information about her previous relationship with Evans, and allegedly asked McIntyre to find gossip about Evans online. After he uploaded his video calling out her actions, Ballinger uploaded her own video taking ownership of those behaviors. She said she shouldn’t have sent him lingerie, given him access to her Twitter account, or had conversations with him online. This and Kodee’s video defending Ballinger prompted many Ballinger fans to attack McIntyre on Twitter. But after McIntyre’s video was released, Ballinger responded to tweets accusing her of being a “groomer,” denying the allegations. Grooming is defined by the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children as a kind of abuse by which “someone builds a relationship, trust and emotional connection with a child or young person so they can manipulate, exploit and abuse them.”

Earlier this month, McIntyre uploaded five videos to YouTube that discuss his own experiences and address those of additional former fans who have come forward with experiences they say they had with Ballinger and her family . In a conversation with TIME, he said that dealing with the fallout from his original video in 2020 was difficult and still affects him as an adult. “It’s completely ruined how I look at friendships,” McIntyre says. “When all my friends, either in real life or that I’ve known online for six years, left me, it made me not want to trust people because I felt that they would leave me.”

Why are fans calling out Ballinger’s past behavior now?

When McIntyre posted his video three years ago, many Ballinger fans harassed him. Now, the tide has begun to turn on Ballinger as more fans speak out. The floodgates were reopened by the video posted by YouTuber KodeeRants on June 4 titled “Why I Left The Colleen Ballinger Fandom.” In the video, the creator says that they were contacted by Ballinger and DeSoto after McIntyre posted his video in 2020. Because KodeeRants says in the video that they felt they had formed a bond with Ballinger online, the creator felt the need to defend Ballinger and discredit McIntyre. They decided to make their new video because they had reevaluated the situation and now think that what Ballinger asked them to do was harmful.

Following Kodee’s video, McIntyre uploaded a tearful video on June 7 titled “I Was Right About Colleen Ballinger,” in which he speaks about Kodee’s video and provides context for some of the evidence they share, including screenshots from the group chat in which Ballinger allegedly made inappropriate remarks. The two creators get on a video call toward the end of the video. McIntyre explains that the Ballinger fans had a Twitter group chat called “The Weenies,” which McIntyre was a part of and frequently interacted with as a teenager. One screenshot appears to show Ballinger asking him, “Are you a virgin?” and “What’s your [favorite] position?”

Silvestri began to share his experiences on Twitter on June 7. He tells TIME that he was 15 years old when he first started chatting with Ballinger and Evans online in 2012. He became a fan of Miranda Sings and began posting about the character on Twitter to get Ballinger’s attention. She hosted private video chat rooms on apps like Skype and Oovoo, then migrated the group to a more public platform called TinyChat as her fandom grew. Silvestri said he was in a group call with people whose ages ranged from 14 to 18.

He tells TIME that these conversations were “inappropriate” and included “a lot of trauma dumping” from Ballinger and Evans. He says topics ranged from puberty and sexual subjects to Ballinger and Evans’ romantic relationship, including whether he was going to propose to her, whether she would dump him, and his jealousy around her financial success. “They eventually started treating it like a game, which is disturbing,” he continued. “[Ballinger and Evans] would instigate, they would egg us on… and we were always pit against each other.”

Silvestri claims that he was paid little for his work on the Miranda Sings tour as an assistant from July 11 to Sept. 22., 2018. He says he was paid “a little bit over $3,500” for two months of work. He said in a tweet that he worked “12+ hour days.” He posted photos of checks that he received from “Miranda Sings Inc.,” which show him getting paid $3,175 in one check and $480 in another.

In a TikTok video posted on June 14, Becky, a 21-year-old former fan, came forward about her experience being “embarrassed” on stage at a Miranda Sings show when she was 16. She has commented on a screenshot of a video she is in that has been circulating on TikTok, in which Ballinger performs a stunt that involves Becky, then a teenager, spreading her legs wide in front of a large audience. Becky’s video telling the story in her own words has racked up 14 million views.

In an interview with TIME, Becky says that she had been a fan of Ballinger’s since she was 12. She says that Ballinger has segments in her shows where she calls people up on stage, and one of them is a “yoga challenge.” This involved Becky laying on her back as Ballinger, in her role as Miranda, spread Becky’s legs, as a fart sound was played. She describes being “terrified” that she wasn’t covered enough. She tells TIME that she remembers being “in shock” when she got off stage. “There was still a little bit of almost an excitement level because I have been so close to her, and she had been somebody that I’ve looked up to for so long,” says Becky. “But I was also feeling ashamed of myself.” Becky says she kept her feelings to herself because of Ballinger’s “toxic” fans, who she believed would be angry with her if she said anything negative about Ballinger or Miranda.

Becky shares that about seven months ago, while watching TikToks, a video about a Miranda Sings show came up, and it prompted her to make a post about her experience in the r/ColleenBallingerSnark subreddit, where users congregate to “snark,” or speak negatively, about popular public figures. Becky says that when she posted about this, she was met with a wave of support and that led her to speak up again when McIntyre was vindicated by Kodee.

What is Ballinger up to now?

In May, Ballinger started a podcast with YouTuber Trisha Paytas called Oversharing with Colleen and Trisha . In McIntyre’s latest video, he shared a clip someone sent to him of the podcast being live-streamed on YouTube. In the video, it appears that viewers’ comments asking Ballinger to address McIntyre’s and Kodee’s videos are being deleted in real-time. Paytas has also been pressed by fans to release a statement about the situation, but she has not spoken publicly on the matter.

Other YouTubers who Ballinger has worked with in the past have released public statements online. Beauty YouTuber Jeffree Starr recently spoke about Ballinger on a TikTok live and said that she is “sick,” and he has “never been a fan.” Another YouTuber named Tyler Oakley uploaded a lengthy statement to Discord in which he named Ballinger along with other YouTubers who have faced criticism, saying, “As I’ve learned more about inappropriate behavior by influencers, I’ve consciously disconnected myself from those who participate in it.”

Ballinger has been on tour in the U.S. this spring as Miranda Sings and has over a dozen tour dates scheduled between June and August. The tour website says the show is “open to all ages and is rated PG13 due to some adult references and expletives that appear briefly on a screen.

Embattled Miranda Sings star Colleen Ballinger has seemingly cancelled all of her remaining tour dates, following a string of recent controversies .

The YouTube star, 36, was in the middle of a tour when she was accused of 'grooming' and inappropriate behavior towards her fans, as well as on set of her Netflix  show, Haters Back Off.

Ballinger, who started posting comedic videos on YouTube around 15 years ago under the character Miranda Sings, had tour dates going into September.

Her website links to different ticketing sites for her upcoming shows, however they all announce that the performances have been cancelled.

Tickets are going to be refunded, but there are no rescheduled dates for the shows as of now. Ballinger has not made an official statement about the tour being cancelled yet.

Ballinger also recently started a podcast with controversial YouTuber Trisha Paytas, titled Oversharing.

Paytas revealed today that the podcast was over after just three episodes, after she learned that Ballinger reportedly sent a fan photos from her OnlyFans account, while joking about her body.

Trisha shared about the decision to cancel the podcast with Ballinger after an allegation from a former fan of Colleen's, Johhny Silvestri, who shared screenshots of the alleged texts that Ballinger sent him featuring Paytas.

Paytas said she reached out to Ballinger about the allegations, but that Ballinger denied them.

'This is all very embarrassing. It's very embarrassing at the end of the day, I don't get embarrassed by many things, like obviously. The podcast ending after three episodes is embarrassing,' Paytas, who's had a string of failed podcasts, stated in her most recent Youtube video.

The podcast originally premiered May 23, and released its last episode on June 6, just days after the grooming allegations against Colleen surfaced.

Trisha also reflected on her and Colleen's friendship over the years, and her shock at learning about the alleged texts.

'These weren't a long time ago. This is someone well into their 30s who just gave birth, sending nudes. And a month prior, I was in [Colleen's] house, meeting her newborn and doing a Mukbang with her.'

It comes just a few days after Ballinger denied performing Beyoncé's Single Ladies in blackface.

The YouTuber  was seen in a viral clip dancing in what looked like blackface, but said she was actually wearing green makeup and dressed as the Elphaba from the musical Wicked.

In the clip, Ballinger is seen dancing and singing along to Beyoncé's song Single Ladies while wearing paint on her face.

Now, Ballinger has said through an attorney the clip was from 2009 and in fact recorded immediately after she had performed a song from Wicked with Oliver Tompsett, one of the musical's stars.

'She painted her face green like the witch. After that number, she went right into Single Ladies (while still wearing the green makeup),' they said in a statement.

The video was uploaded to YouTube in 2018 but only went viral on July 5, days after she had been accused of using the n-word by staff involved with her Netflix show Haters Back Off.

Ballinger made a name for herself through her Miranda Sings YouTube channel, which now has more than 10 million subscribers, and produced content consumed mostly by teenagers.

Her Netflix show Haters Back Off is based on her internet persona Miranda Sings and tells the story of an up-and-coming personality trying to make in on YouTube.

The crude video comes after a revealing article on apologizetome.com, written by former writers' assistant April Korto Quioh and published on June 30, made claims about the 'cruelty' displayed by Ballinger during the two seasons she worked on the show.

Quioh claims she was the 'only black person in the office' but 'knew how to make nice in a white space' adding that she was consistently confronted by racist and worrying on-set behavior.

'I recall overhearing [Ballinger] once brag that a creator was being 'cancelled' for saying the n-word (and if you think she went with 'n-word' instead of hitting that hard 'r' then you haven't been paying attention) and that she would never be stupid enough to get caught doing something like that,' she wrote.

Blackface allegations: A recent video has emerged in which Ballinger appeared performed to Beyoncé's hit song Single Ladies while singing the lyrics with dark makeup on her face. Critics accused her of blackface but the video shows her performing a number from Wicked as the green-faced witch Elphaba before launching into the Beyoncé hit

Former staffer of the Netflix series about Miranda Singer, Haters Back Off, April Korto Quioh, has accused the show's star Colleen Ballinger of using the n-word and writing disturbing plotlines

'She often pitched stories in which Miranda and Uncle Jim would be caught in compromising positions or stomach-churning moments of intimacy that could always be easily explained away by a clueless Miranda,' she said.

In one instance Quioh had been asked to look for 'mockups' of the 'Daddy Saddle' - a prop that Ballinger used on the show to ride on her uncle's back.

She also claims to have been forced to mark points in the scripts where Ballinger thought 'Uncle Jim' could be even more 'r***y.'

Quioh said she was shocked by the show's predominantly younger audience and the hours she claims Ballinger spent trying to 'think of a way to show Miranda and Uncle Jim all but having sex on screen.'

Ballinger has also been accused of grooming her younger fans.

She later addressed the allegations in a bizarre song posted to her YouTube channel in which she denied being a 'groomer' or a 'predator,' but instead insisted she was just a 'loser' who messaged her fans in an effort to be cool.

She used music to address the allegations and sing her side of the story while playing a ukulele, in the 10 minute video.

In the clip, which she titled 'hi', Ballinger strums her ukulele while addressing what she calls 'the facts'.

And while her team 'strongly advised' her to 'not say what I want to say,' she went on to reveal that they never told her she couldn't sing.

Backlash has been levied against the once-beloved YouTube star in recent weeks after a former fan - who goes by the username 'kodeerants' - corroborated allegations made by Adam McIntyre, a YouTuber and also a former Ballinger fan.

In April 2020, McIntyre uploaded an over 25-minute YouTube video alleging that Ballinger had been inappropriately messaging him, as well as other mostly underage fans, in a private group chat.

According to screenshots provided by McIntyre, someone who appeared to be Ballinger asked fans to name their 'fav [sex] position,' as well as to share their experience with 'periods' and about whether or not they are virgins.

McIntyre recalled receiving a bra and panty set from the YouTube star when he was 13 - something Ballinger later admitted was a 'silly, stupid mistake' that occurred during a live stream when she was giving away clothes and items she did not want.

An additional five shows in Salt Lake City, St. Louis, Omaha, Wichita and Midwest City—which allowed for tickets to be purchased directly on the venues' websites rather than just Ticketmaster—have either been removed completely or are shown as canceled "due to unforeseen circumstances."

E! News has reached out to Colleen's team for comment but has yet to hear back.

These cancelations come in the wake of allegations made against the YouTuber , who first created her satirical Miranda Sings character in 2008. The 36-year-old was first accused of grooming and forming inappropriate relationships with underage fans in 2020 and then again this past June, the latter claims Colleen responded to  with a 10-minute song posted to YouTube during which she denied any grooming claims.

Since then, she has also been accused of sharing Trisha Paytas ' NSFW pictures with minors , which Trisha said Colleen denied when the two spoke privately, and most recently, performing in blackface. Colleen's team has since clarified she was wearing green face paint while performing as Elphaba from  Wicked during one of her shows.

And now the content creator's Oversharing podcast with Trisha, which launched in May, has also been canceled after just three episodes .

"This is all very embarrassing," Trisha said in a July 9 YouTube video .

For a complete summary and timeline of the allegations made against Colleen, keep reading.

When Colleen Ballinger  created the character Miranda Sings as a way to poke fun at teens hoping to be discovered on the Internet, the theater-obsessed, annoying AF alter ego actually turned her into a YouTube sensation.

Soon, the vocal performance major had amassed 10.7 million subscribers and landed a Netflix original series titled H aters Back Off .

Ballinger, now 36, and fellow YouTuber Joshua David Evans , now 39, begin dating after he watched one of her Miranda Sings clips and pursued her.

Ballinger revealed in a YouTube video recap of her year that she secretly married Erik Stocklin , the actor cast as Miranda's love interest in her Haters Back Off TV series.

The couple welcomed their first child, Flynn Timothy Stocklin , that month, and twins Wesley Koy Stocklin and Maisy Joanne Stocklin followed in November 2021. In a YouTube video, the influencer explained that the babies were born more than a month earlier than expected and that she had to have an emergency C-section.

"I'm okay. The babies are both okay," she shared. "They're very little and they're gonna be living in the NICU for a while probably."

Irish Content creator Adam McIntyre —who first began running a fan account for Miranda Sings in 2013 when he was just 10 years old—posted a video called "colleen ballinger, stop lying" in which he accused Ballinger of putting him in uncomfortable situations when he was a minor.

In a since-deleted video titled "why I left the colleen ballinger fandom…", YouTuber KodeeRants shared screenshots of an alleged text exchange between Colleen and her followers, accusing the comedian of forming inappropriate and exploitative relationships with underage fans.

Per NBC News, the unverified group text was named "Colleeny's Weenies," with the performer allegedly asking her fans their "favorite position" during one conversation.

After Colleen issued her statement via song, her ex-husband Evans shared his thoughts on the controversy.

"This behavior was my reality anytime I spoke up & disagreed with her actions & rhetoric during 2009-2016," the actor tweeted on June 28. "I was gaslit too. I was made to feel like I was always the problem. Any pain I felt was an inconvenience and was belittled."

Trisha Paytas , a fellow YouTube star who co-hosts the Oversharing podcast with Ballinger, was pulled into the controversy after one of Ballinger's former fans alleged that she had sent NSFW photos and videos from Paytas' OnlyFans account to him

After YouTuber Paige Christie posted a clip of Ballinger performing Beyoncé 's "Single Ladies" as Miranda Sings with dark paint smeared on her face, Ballinger's team responded.

According to law firm Berk Brettler, Ballinger had actually painted her face green to look like Wicked 's Elphaba while performing tracks from the hit musical.

Colleen Ballinger, the popular YouTuber known for her quirky, red lipstick-wearing character Miranda Sings, is facing backlash from fans for denying the grooming accusations against her with a bizarre ukulele song.

The 36-year-old personality, whose content mostly appeals to preteens, uploaded a 10-minute video Wednesday entitled “hi.” She flippantly took “accountability” for her actions while simultaneously criticizing cancel culture.

“Some people are saying things about me that just aren’t true,” she said in a sing-song voice. “Even though my team has strongly advised me not to say what I’m going to say, I realized they never said I couldn’t sing about what I want to say.”

Ballinger, who has been on YouTube for more than 15 years, stated that early in her career she “used to message my fans — but not in a creepy way, like a lot of you are trying to suggest. It was more of a loser kind of way. I was just trying to be besties with everybody.”

She admitted that “there were times in DMs when I would overshare,” but said she “changed my behavior and took accountability.”

YouTuber Colleen Ballinger slammed for denying grooming allegations by song: 'Out of touch'

Her statements are in response to accusations by YouTuber Adam McIntyre, 20, who first claimed in a 2020 YouTube video that Ballinger allegedly formed an inappropriate personal friendship with him while he was 13 to 16 years old.

He alleged Ballinger sent him lingerie as a joke, gave him access to her social media and exchanged text messages with him for years.

This month, McIntyre uploaded another YouTube video, “my relationship with colleen ballinger,” in which he accused her of “grooming” him and other teenagers in the 2010s.

The video, which is nearly two hours long, has over 541,000 views.

The Post has contacted reps for Ballinger and McIntyre for comment.

Colleen Ballinger, aka Miranda Sings, arrives at the Nickelodeon's 2023 Kids' Choice Awards.

“I just wanted to say that the only thing I’ve ever groomed is my two Persian cats,” Ballinger claimed Wednesday. “I’m not a groomer, I’m just a loser who didn’t understand I shouldn’t respond to fans. I’m not a predator even though a lot of you think so because five years ago I made a fart joke.”

She was referencing a recently resurfaced video from a Miranda Sings live show where Ballinger stood over a young female fan who has her legs spread as a fake fart sound plays from the stage, insinuating that the fan passed gas.

At least two companies who pay for ads on Ballinger’s podcast severed ties with her after the video went viral.

Ballinger continued in her new song: “I’m sure you’re disappointed in my sh—y little song / I know you wanted me to say that I was 100% in the wrong / well I’m sorry I’m not gonna take that route / of admitting to lies and rumors that you made up for clout.”

She also reminded viewers that her Miranda Sings content is “PG-13” — and that Miranda’s videos are not available on the YouTube Kids app — as it’s the responsibility of parents to decide what is and isn’t suitable for their children.

“For what it’s worth, I never had any bad intentions, but I do feel like s–t,” Ballinger added towards the end of the video.

Colleen Ballinger, Creator of YouTube’s Miranda Sings, Denies Grooming Allegations in Musical Video

Fans couldn’t believe what they were watching Wednesday.

“This is the most insanely out of touch ‘apology’ video ever. congrats that’s history made on youtube i guess,” one disappointed viewer commented of Ballinger’s video.

“Girl, I wanted to believe you but this was not the way to handle it at all,” another wrote.

“This video shows your true colors,” someone else claimed.

Another agreed: “This is rough lmao, won’t admit how wrong you were/are.”

“This better be on SNL,” one viewer nervously laughed.

“I need an apology for this apology,” someone else begged.
