Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez know how to make a crowd go wild. The pair hit the stage during Taylor's last 1989 world tour show at the Staples Center in LA on Wednesday night and, needless to say, it was pretty amazing. The BFFs, who looked gorgeous in nearly matching bodysuits and thigh-high boots , sang Selena's hit song "Good For You" for the sold-out stadium. The performance marks the first time Selena has belted out the song in front of a live audience. After the show, the two took to Instagram to share cute photos of themselves on stage . Selena, who called their bond a "sisterhood," joked about how their duet will be a story they can tell their future kids.

Selena's appearance came on the same night that Taylor welcomed Justin Timberlake and Lisa Kudrow to the stage. Justin sang his hit "Mirrors," while Lisa performed her infamous song from Friends , "Smelly Cat," as her character Phoebe Buffay. What’s the secret to Swift and Gomez’s friendship? According to the “Anti-Hero” singer, it's longevity. Swift told E! News in May 2014 that their friendship has “been the longest one I think either of us had.”

“When your life changes and you become thrust into this really strange whirlwind where what your life is — is different from what other people think your life is,” she added. “And your life is commented on and your life is written about and fictionalized and all that.”

She added, “Both of us have kind of stuck it out and hung in there through all the different changes we’ve gone through.”

Swift brought Gomez out on tour yet again, this time for a performance at the Rose Bowl during her Reputation Stadium Tour in May 2018. The duo performed Gomez’s hit “Hands to Myself” for fans in their coordinating monochromatic black outfits.

In an Instagram post, Swift shared a photo of the friends on stage, writing in the caption, “To the person I could call at any time of day, who has been there no matter what... you absolutely KILLED IT tonight and everyone was so excited to see you.”

“I love you, and 60,000 people at the Rose Bowl loved you too,” Swift added.

Elle reported that after they performed together, Gomez gave a short speech to the crowd about the duo’s longtime friendship, calling Swift her “best friend.”

“She’s always met me where I’ve been,” Gomez said. “She’s encouraged me when I’ve had nothing to be encouraged about, and I don’t know if I would be as strong as I am if I didn’t have you and your family because you’ve changed my life.”

Taylor Swift praises Selena Gomez’s new music

Both friends sat down with Zane Lowe and Apple Music separately in October 2019 to discuss their new music, including Swift’s album “Lover” and Gomez’s singles “Lose You To Love Me” and “Look At Her Now.”

When Gomez was on the show, Lowe played a clip from Swift’s interview where she celebrated her friend’s song “Look At Her Now,” calling it “the best thing” Gomez had done.

“I’m so proud of her. She’s been through so much,” Swift said. “I’ve watched so much happen in her life and had a front row seat to so much and I’m so proud of her.”

Swift added, “I’m really excited because when somebody has had great life experience, has had really tough things they’ve had to go through, and they can process that and make art that’s going to help other people, that’s what kind of song this is.”

Lowe asked Gomez what type of friend Swift has been for the tough moments in her life, to which she replied immediately, “Amazing.”

“She was frustrated when I was frustrated, she was sad when I was sad,” Gomez said, before sharing a story about Swift's touching reaction to her "Look At Her Now" music video . “I showed her the video and her mom and Taylor started crying. And it wasn’t because the song was emotional, it was because the first thing they said to me was ‘We’re so happy that you’re here after seeing all that — this is such a cool moment.’”

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift reflect on decade-long friendship

Both Gomez and Swift reflected on their longtime friendship during a January 2020 feature in WSJ Magazine about the “Only Murders in the Building” star.

Gomez said that she and Swift “clicked instantly” when they had first met, with Swift adding, “There has always been this quality of sisterhood, and I don’t say that in a basic way.”

“I knew from when I met her I would always have her back,” she added. “In my life, I have the ability to forgive people who have hurt me. But I don’t know if I can forgive someone who hurts her.”

Despite very public moments in their friendship, including award show moments and public celebrations on social media, Gomez said, “There’s so much of my friendship with Taylor that people don’t know about because we don’t necessarily feel the need to post about everything we do.”

“She has showed up for me in ways that I would have never expected,” Gomez added. “Flown in because I was hurt and was going through something. Stuff that was going on with my family. It’s been proven year after year and in every moment of my life that she is one of my best friends in the world.”

Taylor Swift makes virtual appearance on “Selena + Chef”

Gomez expanded beyond acting and music with a new venture in August 2020: her own cooking show called “Selena + Chef.” The premise of the show saw Gomez being joined remotely by world renowned chefs to learn how to cook a wide variety of dishes.

One episode featured chef Roy Choi as the duo cooked up some breakfast tacos. When the cooking was complete, Gomez took a moment to FaceTime Swift and show her the finished product, surprising both Choi and his daughter, who appeared both shocked and excited by the guest appearance.

Selena Gomez celebrates 30th birthday with Taylor Swift

July 22, 2022 marked Gomez’s 30th birthday. To celebrate the occasion, she and Swift enjoyed dinner together, as shared on the actor’s Instagram .

In the snaps, Gomez and Swift posed for several silly photos .

One frame captured Gomez smiling while Swift held up three fingers with her left hand and made the shape of a zero with her right. A second frame appeared to be a selfie taken by Swift where she gave a thumps up to the camera while Gomez covered her mouth as she laughed.

“30, nerdy, and worthy,” Gomez captioned the post.

Selena Gomez says Taylor Swift is her only industry friend

Gomez sat down with Rolling Stone ahead of the release of her AppleTV+ documentary “Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me.”

Among the myriad of topics discussed in the interview, she reflected on fame and her famous friendships, explaining, “I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities.”

“My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn’t belong,” she added. “I felt the presence of everyone around me living full lives. I had this position, and I was really happy, but … was I? Do these materialistic things make me happy? I just didn’t like who I was, because I didn’t know who I was.”

Taylor Swift gives Selena Gomez’s little sister a hat during Eras Tour

While Swift didn’t bring any guests on stage to perform with her during her Eras Tour, she had another tradition at each show. During her song “22,” Swift would give away the hat she was wearing during the performance to a fan in the crowd.

At a stop in Arlington, Texas, in April 2023, Swift gave her hat to Gomez’s younger half-sister , Gracie Elliott Teefey.

Gomez shared a sweet moment from the concert on her Instagram , capturing her sister holding her arms in the air as she made a heart with her hands.

“Thank you bestie for having me and my sissy transport into your mystical, euphoric and special world,” Gomez wrote in the caption. “Proud to know you! love you forever and always.”

Selena Gomez attends one of Swift’s famous Fourth of July parties

Swift brought back her infamous Fourth of July parties in July 2023, bringing along Gomez and the Haim sisters , Danielle, Alana and Este, for the occasion.

The singer shared several snaps from the celebration on Instagram on July 7, including a photo of the group of girls laying on the lawn in their swimsuits. Another frame showed a series of Polaroid images of the crew, including two snaps of Swift and Gomez posing together.

“Happy belated Independence Day from your local neighborhood independent girlies,” Swift captioned the post.

The evening also saw an award show reunion between Gomez and Swift. The friends were photographed together at the Prudential Center during the VMAs in their glam ensembles.

A few days later, Gomez shared two selfies with the “Karma” singer on Instagram on Sept. 16.

In the first frame, Swift took a selfie of the duo both smiling at the camera while they dined outside. The second image caught Gomez giving the camera a kissy face while Swift gave her longtime best friend a kiss on the cheek.

“Thas my best frien- she a real bad,” Gomez wrote, captioning the post with a reference to Saweetie’s viral song “Best Friend.”

Taylor Swift’s Star-Packed ‘1989’ Tour: Relive Every Cameo

By Jon Blistein

Jon Blistein

Taylor Swift  has spent the better part of the past five months bringing her masterful 2014 album,  1989 , to the masses. Swift's gigantic pop production — winding down Saturday in Tampa, Florida — has criss-crossed the United States, as well as parts of Europe, but the star has taken pains to distinguish the trek from your run-of-the-mill stadium spectacle, sprinkling her shows with surprise guests from across the musical spectrum.

Swift has paired with everyone from rising stars like the Weeknd, Fetty Wap, Sam Hunt and Rachel Platten, to established peers like Lorde, Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez, and celebrated veterans like Miranda Lambert, Justin Timberlake and Mick Jagger. If previous Swift album cycles were marked by overwrought discussions about which ex a song was calling out,  1989 has been first and foremost about friendship. Swift and her audience are not separate entities, but fellow partygoers: She reacts to the presence of her guests with the same incredulity as the crowd.

Tracking Swift's revolving door of  1989 guests was as much a pastime this summer as baseball or trying to ignore Donald Trump. To date, 35 of Swift's 61 North American shows have featured at least one surprise guest, with some featuring two or three, plus an assortment of friends, who walked a lengthy catwalk alongside Swift during "Style." For those hoping to relive that magic moment — or for fans at guest-less shows still stricken by FOMO —  Rolling Stone has compiled a complete rundown of the cameo-crammed tour.

Dan Reynolds, “Radioactive” in Detroit

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift's first North American show in Bossier City, Louisiana, was a guest-less affair. So was night two in Baton Rouge. Eight days — and one quick jaunt to Norwich, England for a spot at Radio 1's Big Weekend festival — later,  Swift served her first  1989 tour surprise: Dan Reynolds, who pumped his fists with Swift as they traded vocals on Imagine Dragons' 2012 track, "Radioactive."

Little Big Town, “Pontoon” in Pittsburgh

Taylor Swift

Despite a dramatic, all-encompassing turn to pop on 1989 , Swift is always ready for the country: In Pittsburgh, she brought out Alabama outfit Little Big Town for their 2012 Number One, "Pontoon," an ode to on-the-water revelry with a delightfully cheeky hook — "Out here in the open/Mmmmm-motorboatin'." Swift's backup dancers even came out in swim trunks and goggles, and some were wrapped in unicorn inner tubes.

Echosmith, “Cool Kids”; Rachel Platten, “Fight Song” in Philadelphia

Taylor

Over two nights in Philadelphia, Swift shone the spotlight on the next crop of pop superstars. During her first show, she brought out Echosmith's Sydney Sierota  to perform the group's breakout single, "Cool Kids." And on night two, she was joined by Rachel Platten. The pair belted Platten's empowering, piano-driven smash, "Fight Song," Swift gazing like a proud peer as the rising singer handled the track's stirring bridge on her own.

The Weeknd, “Can’t Feel My Face” in East Rutherford, NJ (Night One)

Taylor Swift

Swift broke out the big guns for her first show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. In addition to a duet with the Weeknd on his summer hit, "Can't Feel My Face," the pop star welcomed the U.S. women's national soccer team to walk the catwalk during "Style" with their World Cup trophy . Topping it all off, Swift assembled a sizable chunk of her girl gang, including Lily Aldridge, Lena Dunham, Gigi Hadid and Hailee Steinfeld to join her for "Bad Blood."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sHaHBjGfnRI]

Nick Jonas, “Jealous” in East Rutherford, NJ (Night Two)

Taylor Swift

Swift didn't disappoint her New York–area fans at her second show at MetLife. "Style" featured another array of friends including Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Uzo Aduba, Karlie Kloss, Behati Prinsloo and Gigi Hadid; but the night's big guest was Nick Jonas, who lead a bombastic rendition of his soulful pop hit, "Jealous."

Lorde, “Royals”; Jason Derulo, “Want to Want Me” in Washington, D.C.

Taylor Swift

After her star-packed New York stand, Swift kept things relatively simple in Washington, D.C. On night one, friend and pop prodigy Lorde hit the stage for "Royals," while the following night featured Jason Derulo. The R&B singer dutifully took the reins of the propulsive "Want to Want Me," getting so wrapped up in the heat of the moment his shirt mysteriously vanished by the end of the song.

Andy Grammer, “Honey, I’m Good”; Sam Hunt, “Take Your Time” in Chicago

Taylor Swift

On her 2011  Speak Now tour, Swift welcomed burgeoning blue-eyed pop singer Andy Grammer to the stage for a rendition of his breakout single, "Keep Your Head Up." Four years later, she trotted Grammer out again on her first night in Chicago for a performance of his equally infectious 2015 single, "Honey, I'm Good." The next night, Swift gave some shine to rising country crooner Sam Hunt, who parked himself next to Swift for a duet of his fetching, half-rapped ode to slow, simple love, "Take Your Time."

Walk the Moon, “Shut Up and Dance”; MKTO, “Classic” in Foxborough, MA

Taylor Swift

With "Fight Song" and "Can't Feel My Face" already under her belt, Swift continued to plow through the various tracks vying for song of the summer 2015. Walk the Moon's slow burner, "Shut Up and Dance" peaked at Number Two on the Hot 100 this July after being released in September, 2014, and Swift and frontman Nicholas Petricca offered an outsized rendition of the ebullient earworm. She replicated that same energy with MKTO the following night during a sizzling performance of the duo's 2014 song-of-the-summer contender, "Classic."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JO_U0747BzM]

Nico and Vinz, “Am I Wrong” in Vancouver

Taylor Swift

The 1989 tour rolled into Canada with Norwegian duo Nico and Vinz joining Swift on stage for their 2014 track "Am I Wrong. The song's thumping percussion and achingly triumphant hook wouldn't sound out of place in Swift's own set list, and the pop star adapted easily to the track, slinking around the stage and smiling widely as she sang with the duo.

Fetty Wap, “Trap Queen” in Seattle

Taylor Swift

The love song that warmed hearts across the world this summer was given the duet it always deserved when Swift teamed up with Fetty Wap for his beloved breakout, "Trap Queen." Swift kept the romantic vibes going later, when she walked the catwalk during "Style" with the Pacific Northwest's cutest couple, Ciara and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

Fifth Harmony, “Worth It”; Little Mix, “Black Magic” in Santa Clara, CA

Taylor Swift

Girl groups ruled during Swift's two-night stop in Santa Clara, California. At her first show, Swift welcomed Fifth Harmony for a performance of "Worth It," easily nestling into her role as the sixth harmonizer on the group's silky, bombastic, horn-laced single. The next night, U.K. vocal quartet Little Mix took the stage for a sugar-coated rendition of "Black Magic."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE6BqsMp02k]

Kobe Bryant; OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, “Counting Stars” in Los Angeles (Night One)

Taylor Swift

The 1989 world tour parked itself at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for a whopping five nights at the end of August, and the run found Swift achieving a notable milestone: Sixteen sold-out shows at the famed venue — a number equal to the NBA Championships banners hung by the Los Angeles Lakers. Fittingly, Lakers star Kobe Bryant was on hand during night one to raise a banner in Swift's honor. The show also featured a musical surprise for good measure, with OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder hitting the stage for "Counting Stars."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh-68HBJr1M]

Uzo Aduba, “White Horse”; Mary J. Blige, “Doubt” and “Family Affair” in Los Angeles (Night Two)

Taylor Swift

While not all of Swift's guests have been musicians, Orange Is the New Black star Uzo Aduba doubled down on her East Rutherford catwalk cameo and coaxed a deep cut out of Swift in Los Angeles. Aduba revealed a set of deep, gorgeous pipes as she took lead on  Fearless  hit "White Horse" while Swift plucked at her acoustic guitar and delivered backup vocals.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1Ta9KjSszU]

Later, Swift brought out Mary J. Blige for something old and something new: First, "Doubt," from Blige's 2014 effort, The London Sessions , then the still swinging "Family Affair." Capping it all off, Swift welcomed "Blank Space" video star, Sean O'Pry to the stage for "Style,"  though he also had to share the catwalk with Matt LeBlanc and Chris Rock.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRNb3Upu64A]

Alanis Morissette, “You Oughta Know”; Natalie Maines, “Goodbye Earl” in Los Angeles (Night Three)

Taylor Swift

Night three in Los Angeles found Swift paying tribute to two Nineties heroes, the Dixie Chicks and Alanis Morissette. First, Swift showed she hadn't lost her country twang, stringing out and punching up her drawl alongside Natalie Maines on the Dixie Chicks' boot-stomping "Goodbye Earl." Later, Swift and Morissette scorched the stadium — and exes everywhere — with a devastating performance of the latter's breakup anthem "You Oughta Know."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J47TiDvxnTg]

Noted Swiftie Ellen DeGeneres closed out the proceedings in characteristically ridiculous fashion, donning a sparkling silver jumpsuit to match Swift's shimmering dress as they walked the catwalk together on "Style."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpjxAPHoW8o]

Beck and St. Vincent, “Dreams”; John Legend, “All of Me” in Los Angeles (Night Four)

Taylor Swift

Swift cobbled together a delightfully unique collaboration for her fourth night at Staples, welcoming Beck and St. Vincent for a performance of the former's recent single, "Dreams." The driving pop-rock cut marks a significant turn from Beck's mellow Morning Phase  LP, but the musician relished sharing stadium spotlight with Swift as St. Vincent slashed away at the song's crunchy, funked-out guitar riffs. Later, Swift slowed things down with John Legend, who commandeered the pop star's piano and led the way during a stunning duet on his tear-jerking power ballad "All of Me."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3D5NGDW4lQ]

Selena Gomez, “Good For You”; Justin Timberlake, “Mirrors”; Phoebe Buffay, “Smelly Cat” in Los Angeles (Night Five)

Taylor Swift

The final night of Swift's Los Angeles stand belonged to a little-known coffeeshop singer-songwriter: Phoebe Buffay. Or rather, Lisa Kudrow, who reprised her Friends  role for a performance of Buffay's beloved Central Perk smash, "Smelly Cat."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4gIyPCp9H0]

The night also featured two slightly more well-known musicians: Selena Gomez, who stopped by for a rousing rendition of her tortured slow jam "Good for You," and Justin Timberlake, who took the stage for his devotional paean "Mirrors."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlVVCYOqw48]

Omi, “Cheerleader”; Avril Lavigne, “Complicated” in San Diego

Taylor Swift

Swift did not slow down after her five-night L.A. takeover. Three days after her final Staples Center gig, and a few hours south on Interstate 5 in San Diego, she brought out Omi for another summer 2015 anthem, "Cheerleader." Swift also invited Avril Lavigne up for a performance of her 2002 breakout hit "Complicated," a still perfectly pained jam that proves the cup of teen angst will never run dry.

Wiz Khalifa, “See You Again” in Houston

Taylor Swift

The 1989 tour settled into its fourth month, and the final weeks of summer, in Houston. Swift once again surprised her fans with another recent ubiquitous hit, calling to the stage Wiz Khalifa, who helmed his  Furious 7 hip-hop power ballad, "See You Again." Swift dutifully stood in for the song's co-writer, Charlie Puth, belting the aching, striving chorus he sings on record.

The Band Perry, “If I Die Young” in Indianapolis

Taylor Swift

Swift offered another nod to her roots in Indianapolis, strapping on a sparkling acoustic guitar and joining the Band Perry for a rousing rendition of their hit "If I Die Young." The song's delicate instrumentals and musings might seem out of place for a massive pop production like the 1989 tour, but Swift and the Band Perry deftly reconstructed the track as a stadium-sized tearjerker.

Echosmith, “Cool Kids” in Columbus, OH

Taylor Swift

Echosmith singer Sydney Sierota earned the unique distinction of being the only performer to take the stage twice, in two different cities on the  1989 tour (save Uzo Aduba, who performed one night, and strutted the stage during "Style" the other). Sierota re-teamed with Swift in Columbus, Ohio, several months after her initial cameo in Philadelphia, delivering another infectious rendition of Echosmith's breakout hit, "Cool Kids."

Dierks Bentley, “Every Mile a Memory” in Kansas City, MO

Taylor Swift

Swift kept the country vibes going in Kansas City, welcoming Dierks Bentley to the 1989  party to breeze through his 2006 hit "Every Mile a Memory." Bentley and Swift traded lines and coalesced for harmonies, switching up the lyrics — "Red sun down, over a Kansas City sky," Swift bellowed — for some perfectly acceptable pandering to the hometown crowd.

Steven Tyler, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”; Kelsea Ballerini, “Love Me Like You Mean It”; Alison Krauss, “When You Say Nothing at All” in Nashville (Night One)

Taylor Swift

With country clearly on her mind, Swift was did not disappoint the Music City crowd at her highly anticipated homecoming concerts in Nashville. On night one, Swift proved she's still tapped into the country world with a rousing duet on "Love Me Like You Mean It" with rising singer Kelsea Ballerini. But she also paid tribute to  vaunted veteran Alison Krauss  with a performance of the musician's 2002 track "When You Say Nothing at All." For good measure, Swift also welcomed recent Nashville transplant Steven Tyler, who helped her belt Aerosmith's endlessly eye-watering Armageddon  anthem, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."

Mick Jagger, “Satisfaction”; Leona Lewis, “Bleeding Love” in Nashville (Night Two)

Taylor Swift

Swift switched musical directions during her second night in Nashville, but her guests were far from disappointing. The star first welcomed Leona Lewis for a performance of Lewis' devastating 2007 ballad "Bleeding Love." Then Swift served up one of her biggest surprises of the 1989 tour so far: Mick Jagger, who peacocked on stage for "Satisfaction" — much to the delight of one grandma in particular .

Nelly, “The Fix” and “Hot in Herre” in St. Louis

Taylor Swift

Hometown hero Nelly served up a double shot during his appearance in St. Louis , first pairing with Swift for a duet of his sultry, Marvin Gaye–sampling new single, "The Fix." But the house truly came down during "Hot in Herre," which featured an appearance from Haim, who closed out their run as  1989  tour openers that night. While Nelly breezed through the 2002 hit, the sister act and Swift dished out the indelible hook and some expertly choreographed dance moves.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJ-JMWwAZS8]

Keith Urban, “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” and “Somebody Like You” in Toronto (Night One)

Taylor Swift

Keith Urban joined Swift at her first show in Toronto, proving country that clicks both Down Under and up in the Great White North. The pair teamed up for two performances, first kicking out Urban's latest single, "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16," which they followed with the musician's 2002 Number One "Somebody Like You."

Charli XCX, “Boom Clap” in Toronto (Night Two)

Taylor Swift

Despite canceling some tour dates this summer so she could focus on new music, Charli XCX gladly hopped back onstage with Swift at her second concert in Toronto. The pair took a shot at pure pop perfection and easily hit the mark with a bombastic rendition of XCX's 2014 smash "Boom Clap."

Ellie Goulding, “Love Me Like You Do” in Arlington, TX

Taylor Swift

Swift has enlisted Ellie Goulding   to surprise her audiences on previous tours, so it's no surprise that the British singer eventually took the stage when her path crossed with the 1989 tour. The pair tackled "Love Me Like You Do," Goulding's summer hit from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack , belting its indelible, amorous hook over a chorus of bombastic synths.

Miranda Lambert, “Little Red Wagon” in Greensboro, NC

Taylor Swift

Swift delivered another country hit in the midst of her pop bonanza, welcoming bona fide badass Miranda Lambert to the stage to perform her killer Platinum  single "Little Red Wagon." Swift looked happy to let Lambert take lead on the fierce track. She jumped in with some of her own backyard swagger but primarily sat back and marveled as one of country's contemporary masters did what she does best.

Tove Lo, “Talking Body” in Atlanta

Taylor Swift

Swift is well aware of the unique knack Swedes have for making killer pop, having worked extensively in recent years with Stockholm-based mastermind Max Martin. In Atlanta, Swift welcomed another Swedish star in her own right , burgeoning synth-pop singer-songwriter Tove Lo, who had the crowd howling with a performance of her sensual, slow-burning "Talking Body."

Pitbull, “Give Me Everything”; Ricky Martin, “Livin’ La Vida Loca” in Miami

Taylor Swift

Swift took her talents to South Beach for the penultimate show of her North American trek, doing everything to delight the hometown crowd short of bringing out Will Smith for "Miami." First, NBA star Dwyane Wade presented Swift  with her own Miami Heat jersey — number 13, of course — and soon after, the pop star was joined by Miami native Pitbull for a performance of "Give Me Everything." Saving the best for last, Swift welcomed Ricky Martin, who came out to a frenzied crowd and the still-transcendent opening horn riff of his 1999 hit "Livin' La Vida Loca."

Selena Gomez, Taylor Swift Perform “Good For You” During “1989 World Tour”

by Brian Cantor Aug 27, 2015, 1:20 am

Confirming a widely-reported rumor, Selena Gomez appeared as a special guest during Wednesday’s edition of the “1989 World Tour.”

Gomez and Swift collaborated on the former’s hit single “Good For You.” It was Gomez’ first time performing the Top 10 hit in front of a live audience.

In appearing on-stage at the Staples Center, Gomez joins a list of Los Angeles “special guests” that included Ryan Tedder, Mary J. Blige, Natalie Maines, Alanis Morissette, Beck, St. Vincent, and John Legend. At least one more is expected for Wednesday’s show, which is the fifth and final part of Swift’s five-night stand at the Los Angeles venue.

See Over 57 of Taylor Swift's 1989 Tour Guests Take the Stage with Her

Taylor Swift might be a solo artist, but she definitely isn't alone in the friend department. The "Bad Blood" singer proved that she has several buddies in very high places, and she can even get them to join her on the stage no matter what city she's in.

During her 1989 Tour Swift welcomed a bunch of her celebrity pals to share the stage with her. The performances included some of our favorite music artists like Justin Timberlake and Mary J. Blige. Plus, there were also non-singers who took to the stage, such as Ellen DeGeneres and Julia Roberts. There were so many surprise appearances that it was hard to keep up with all of the unforgettable moments. Luckily we've got the history-making performances in one place.

Watch Justin Timberlake and Selena Gomez Grace Taylor Swift’s Stage

Taylor Swift selena gomez

A t this point in her 1989 tour, Taylor Swift has welcomed everyone from Cara Delevingne to Julia Roberts to Chris Rock to Lisa Kudrow to her esteemed stage. Her five-night engagement at LA’s Staples Center has been particularly celeb-stacked—this week, she’s sung “You Oughta Know” with Alanis Morissette , gone spangle-for-spangle with Ellen DeGeneres, performed “Dreams” with Beck and St. Vincent and duetted with John Legend on “All Of Me.” Last night, for her final trick, Swift brought out the only two celebrities—nay, people—left on Earth that she has yet to harmonize with in front of thousands of iPhones: Justin Timberlake and Selena Gomez.

First up, Verified T. Swift Bestie Gomez took the stage in a pair of Swift-esque hotpants for the debut live performance of her new single “Good For You,” which Swift called “the song of the summer.”

Later, Timberlake—who, fun fact, stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2008 to surprise an utterly lovestruck teenage Swift as she wore a glittery LBD in the daytime—joined Swift for a rousing rendition of his hit single “Mirrors.” In a nod to how far they’ve both come since awkwardly discussing gender relations on Ellen , Swift explained, “Justin hasn’t performed since he became a dad, so I’m just honored that this is his first performance.”

Each of Swift's new versions of her classic albums has featured several new songs "from the vault" that didn't make the original cuts.

Why Taylor Swift is re-recording albums

Swift  has been re-recording and releasing her first six albums  in a mission to fully own her music. Big Machine Records sold the masters from the first six albums in 2019 to Scooter Braun, who later sold them to a private equity firm. Swift was vocal about her disapproval of the sale, and announced that  she would re-record all th os e albums she initially  made  with Big Machine .

“I have recently begun re-recording my older music and it has already proven to be both exciting and creatively fulfilling,” s he said in a statement  posted on social media in 2020. “I have plenty of surprises in store.”

And she has certainly delivered on those surprises: In addition to the "from the vault" tracks and new album art, she's even made music videos.

Which albums she's recorded so far and which are left

She has been accomplishing just that and marking each re-release as "Taylor's Version." So far, she's released:

  • "Fearless (Taylor's Version)" (2021)
  • "Red (Taylor's Version)" (2021)
  • "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" (2023)

The only re-releases that remain after "1989" will be her debut album, "Taylor Swift," originally released in 2006, and her 2017 album, "Reputation."

How fans knew "1989 (Taylor's Version)" was next

Fans had a clue in early July 2023 that "1989 (Taylor's Version)" was on its way. Shortly after she released "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)," she debuted  a music video  for one of the new songs,  "I Can See You."  In the final seconds of the video, she is seen driving off with stars Taylor Lautner and Joey King, crossing a bridge that has a sign at the top reading "1989TV."

Some  Easter egg-hunting Swift fans  also thought her  July 7 Instagram post  documenting her  "belated Independence Day"  party at her Rhode Island beach house hinted at a "1989" re-record.

In the post, Swift posed with Selena Gomez, the Haim sisters and more friends in a series of Polaroid images. Swifties were quick to point out that the album cover for the original "1989" album is a Polaroid pic of Swift. Her July Fourth parties at her summer home were also a staple of her "1989" era.

On July 28, Swift's Taylor Nation account  re-shared one of her Fourth of July pictures , with the singer posing in a blue dress in front of the ocean, sending fans spiraling due to the cryptic message, "the air is getting pretty salty."

Fans got increasingly excited ahead of and throughout the Aug. 9 concert as Swift dropped more hints — most notably swapping out four of her previous outfits worn on the tour for blue versions.

"You might've noticed there's some good outfits in the show," she quipped during the Aug. 9 announcement.

Blue is the color most often associated with the album. Her website also became blue ahead of the announcement; it had previously been purple as the singer promoted her “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” album.

Taylor swift concert tickets sell for outrageous price at selena gomez auction.

Sold! To the Swiftie with $15,000 to spare.

A pair of tickets to any Taylor Swift concert in the world sold for $15,000 at Selena Gomez’s charity auction Wednesday night.

The Rare Impact Fund Benefit benefited the “Come & Get It” singer’s mission to help people struggling with mental health issues and self-acceptance.

Gomez’s “Only Murders in the Building” co-star Martin Short, 73, emceed the event and started the bidding for the Swift tickets at $5,000.

The jokester entertained the crowd while bidding for the tickets, quipping that $6,500 was just the price for valet parking at a Swift show.

Selena Gomez speaks onstage as she hosts the Inaugural Rare Impact Fund Benefit Supporting Youth Mental Health on Oct. 4 in LA.

The winning bidder dished out three times that amount, months after Swift’s Eras Tour, which is currently on hiatus, broke Ticketmaster , upsetting fans — and the “Anti-Hero” singer herself .

The tour resumes on Nov. 17 for three shows in Brazil before pausing again until February.

Taylor’s tickets were the highest-selling item of the night.

Famous faces, including Tyga, H.E.R. and Francia Raisa, Gomez’s friend and kidney donor, attended the benefit.

The Post has contacted reps for Gomez, 31, and Swift, 33, for comment.

Taylor Swift fans around the world took a collective gasp on August 31 following the surprise social media announcement that her history-making Eras tour would be released as a concert film.

Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour has already shattered records as the highest-grossing tour in history, hitting $2.2 billion. But fans still can’t get enough. Enter Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, a cinematic experience that takes the music and magic of a stadium concert and translates it to the big screen. With a total runtime of 2 hours and 40 minutes, fans can expect an authentic concert experience as the filming occurred throughout three shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA. Like at the live concerts, Swift encouraged filmgoers to bring Eras attire, friendship bracelets, singing and dancing. It’s safe to say that Swifties are up to the task.

Though there were negotiations with major studios, Swift (who is also a producer on the film) struck a groundbreaking deal negotiating distribution directly with movie theaters . Because of its lack of association with a major studio, SAG-AFTRA permitted it to continue amid the strike.

Experience the Eras Tour concert, performed by the one and only Taylor Swift.

As of December 13 (which just so happens to be Miss Swift's birthday), an extended version of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is now available to rent on-demand, from the streaming platform of your choice. As of right now, no information has been given as to when the film will be made available to own digitally, but it might not be for a while. You can choose from the links below to find the film on the platform of your choice.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour was released in theaters on Friday, October 13, 2023. The release date came less than a month after the concert film's announcement. The Eras Tour set records, as AMC reported it broke the record for most first-day presales in AMC’s 103-year History with a total of $26 million in presales in its first 24 hours. The concert film passed another major milestone when it was revealed that the film had already earned over $100 million in ticket pre-sales .

Despite this vast number, the concert film gives more affordable access to the concert experience for fans who may not be able to pay the high price tag for live concert tickets, which frequently are in the thousands. The film is directed by Sam Wrench , a Grammy-nominated & Emmy award-winning director whose previous work includes Billie Eillish Live at the O2 and Lizzo: Live in Concert .

Yes, despite now being available on-demand, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is still playing in theaters, but it likely won't be there for much longer, as it has now been two months since its original release date, and the slew of films coming out during the holiday season will likely segue it away from theaters.

Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour tickets are available for purchase, and you can find links for those and showtimes below:

Filled with all the songs and all the glitter you can imagine, the trailer gives a sneak peek at song selection from her vast discography, which spans across ten eras. From close-ups capturing her subtle emotions to sweeping aerial shots that show the complete stage design, the concert film promises to give audiences a perspective that they could never get just from sitting in one seat.

Taylor Swift's journey to fame after she was discovered in Bluebird Cafe as a teenager

The Eras Tour singer rose to fame after she was discovered performing in an iconic Nashville venue as a teenager. Ever the dedicated artist, her family had relocated to the 'Music City' for her career

Taylor Swift has enjoyed unprecedented success after she was discovered as a teenager

  • 15:42, 3 Sep 2024

At just 34, Taylor Swift has already accomplished what many artists dream of achieving in a lifetime. She's won 14 Grammys, sold over 114 million albums and amassed more than 70 billion audio and video streams.

Then there's the small matter of her record-breaking 'Eras Tour'. If you hadn't heard of the singer before her tour started, you certainly have now. It's the highest-grossing tour of all time, the first ever to hit the billion dollar mark , and Swift's not done yet.

With more tour dates scheduled, more albums expected and even more fame headed her way, everyone's eyes are on the superstar's career. But where did it all begin? Before Swift's pop stardom, and before her early years as a country artist, there was a little girl with big dreams writing music on her bedroom floor.

Taylor Swift was born in Pennsylvania in 1989 and spent her early childhood there, living on her family's Christmas tree farm with her parents and brother. A keen singer and songwriter, she always dreamed of making it big, and when she was 14, her family relocated to Nashville to help make her dreams come true. She wanted to be a country singer, so she knew there was only one place to go, and her family's efforts paid off.

In 2005, she was discovered while performing at an industry showcase at the iconic Bluebird Cafe, a music venue known for spotlighting songwriters. Having caught the attention of Scott Borchetta, Swift was signed to his independent label, Big Machine Records, and thus began her career as a recording artist. Her debut album was released in 2006 and she soon came to be known for her prolific output.

As fans know, the singer has enjoyed a highly successful career in the years since. To date, she has released 11 studio albums: Taylor Swift (2006), Fearless (2008), Speak Now (2010), Red (2012), 1989 (2014), Reputation (2017), Lover (2019), Folklore (2020), Evermore (2020), Midnights (2022), and The Tortured Poets Department (2024). Over the years her music has evolved and so too has her voice.

While she rose to fame as a country singer — Swift's 2006 single 'Our Song' made her the youngest artist in history to have written and performed a No. 1 song on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart — she later embraced the pop genre and went on to secure her status as one of the world's most famous pop stars. Such is her success that in 2023, TIME Magazine named her as the person of the year.

Her journey from country sweetheart to global icon hasn't always been straightforward. Famously, she was embroiled in a feud with the artist Ye (formerly known as Kanye West ) after he stormed the stage at the the VMAs in 2009 and interrupted her winner's speech. "At the time I didn't know they were booing him doing that. I thought they were booing me," Swift, who was 19 at the time, has since shared. Ye did apologise in 2009 and the pair patched things up, but the feud was re-ignited in 2016. Amid the fallout, Swift went into hiding for a year.

The singer also faced a much-documented struggle in 2019 when Scooter Braun's Ithaca Holdings purchased Big Machine Records, giving him the rights to the master recordings of her first albums. For Swift, who claimed she'd previously pleaded for the chance to own her work , it was a crushing blow. But the story wasn't over.

In a bid to gain control of her music, Swift revealed her plan to re-record her first six albums as part of a mammoth re-recording project. Four albums in, her 'Taylor's Version' releases have already seen massive success, and one of the most anticipated re-releases — Reputation — is yet to come.

Predictably, the re-recording project and the nostalgia drummed up by her Eras Tour has only added to the singer's allure as her star continues to rise and rise. But don't think she's forgotten about where it all started. In 2018, Swift famously returned to Nashville's Bluebird Cafe for a surprise performance to thank the venue for everything it does for musicians.

The last album to post a bigger week, by units earned, was Midnights , which bowed with 1.578 million.

The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units, compiled by Luminate. Units comprise album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). Each units equals one album sale, or 10 individual tracks sold from an album, or 3,750 ad-supported or 1,250 paid/subscription on-demand official audio and video streams generated by songs from an album. For all chart news , follow @billboard and @billboardcharts on both Twitter and Instagram.

1989 (Taylor’s Version) also already owns 2023’s biggest sales week, beating out the opening frame of Swift’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) , which launched with 507,000 sold in the week ending July 13. 1989 (Taylor’s Version) has the biggest sales week for any album since the debut frame of Swift’s Midnights , with 1.14 million sold in the week ending Oct. 27, 2022.

With 1989 (Taylor’s Version) having surpassed the million sales mark, it’s the sixth time an album from Swift has sold at least a million in a single week, following the debut weeks of Midnights , reputation , the original 1989 , Red and Speak Now . She is the only act with six different albums to each sell at least 1 million copies in a single week since Luminate began electronically tracking sales in 1991.

In total, there have been 25 instances – by 23 different albums – in which an album sold at least 1 million copies in a week in the Luminate era. One of those albums, Adele’s 25 , sold more than 1 million in three separate weeks.

The sales of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) are enhanced by its availability in 15 collectible physical formats: five color vinyl variants, eight CD editions and two cassette editions. Of the five vinyl variants, Target carries a color variant that includes one bonus track (“Sweeter Than Fiction”). The album is also available to buy in two digital download editions: a standard 21-song version and a deluxe 22-song version (which adds a re-recorded version of the album’s “Bad Blood,” featuring Kendrick Lamar).

PREVIOUSLY (OCT. 30): According to initial reports to Luminate, Taylor Swift ’s 1989 (Taylor’s Version) has earned more than 550,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. through its first three days of release (Oct. 27-29), of which more than 370,000 are in traditional album sales. Further, the album’s collected songs have generated more than 220 million on-demand official streams (audio and video combined).

After only three days on sale, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) has the second-largest sales week of 2023, trailing only the debut frame of Swift’s own Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) , which sold 507,000 in its opening week.

In terms of total equivalent album units earned, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) already has the second largest week of the year, once again second only to Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) , which bowed with 716,000 units.

PREVIOUSLY (Oct. 28): Taylor Swift ’s fourth re-recorded album, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) , sold over 250,000 copies in the U.S. on its first day of release, Oct. 27, according to initial reports to data tracking firm Luminate. After just one day, the album has the third-largest sales week of 2023; the only bigger weeks were registered by Swift’s own Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) , with 507,000 in its opening week, and Travis Scott’s Utopia , with 252,000 in its first week.

All 12 of Swift’s full-length studio albums and re-recorded projects from 2008’s Fearless , her second studio album, through 2023’s Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) have debuted at No. 1.

In addition, the songs on 1989 (Taylor’s Version) collectively generated over 110 million on-demand official audio streams on the set’s release day in the U.S., according to initial reports to Luminate.

The original 1989 album debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart dated Nov. 15, 2014, and spent 11 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1. It is tied with Swift’s first No. 1, Fearless , for her most weeks at No. 1 with a single album. The 1989 album boasts three songs that hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 — the most No. 1s generated from any Swift album.
