Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift Are the Ultimate BFFs During Onstage Duet

taylor swift and selena gomez 1989 world tour

Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez know how to make a crowd go wild. The pair hit the stage during Taylor's last 1989 world tour show at the Staples Center in LA on Wednesday night and, needless to say, it was pretty amazing. The BFFs, who looked gorgeous in nearly matching bodysuits and thigh-high boots , sang Selena's hit song "Good For You" for the sold-out stadium. The performance marks the first time Selena has belted out the song in front of a live audience. After the show, the two took to Instagram to share cute photos of themselves on stage . Selena, who called their bond a "sisterhood," joked about how their duet will be a story they can tell their future kids.

Selena's appearance came on the same night that Taylor welcomed Justin Timberlake and Lisa Kudrow to the stage. Justin sang his hit "Mirrors," while Lisa performed her infamous song from Friends , "Smelly Cat," as her character Phoebe Buffay. Taylor Swift's 'The 1989 World Tour' Documentary: 10 Fascinating Moments

As promised, Taylor Swift released a concert documentary about her hugely successful 1989 World Tour this holiday season. It’s appropriately titled The 1989 World Tour, and is currently streaming on Apple Music exclusively.

Centering around her tour stop in Sydney, Australia, the film is filled with live performances of songs from her blockbuster 1989 album , backstage footage, interviews with her famous friends, and narration from Swift herself.

Here are 10 fascinating moments from The 1989 World Tour documentary.

1) In the movie, Swift explains how she recruited that endless parade of special guests for her tour. “Some of the special guest appearances were planned months in advance. I would reach out and I’d say, ‘I love your music. Here’s the schedule, here are the tour dates. Which ever one you want to come to, we’d love to have you.'” Swift notes that after Mick Jagger joined her onstage, people were more likely to say yes.

2) Not all of the special guests were planned so far in advance, however. In the documentary, Swift reveals she recruited John Legend to join her onstage just 40 minutes prior to showtime after spotting him in the audience.

3) Rehearsing backstage with Alanis Morissette in one scene, we see Swift urging the singer-songwriter to mime hitting her during the lyric, “It was a slap in the face.” Taylor explains her insistence on the slap to Alanis as such: “Bruises heal, but moments last forever.”

4) Anyone who showed up at the 1989 Tour is familiar with the colorful audience bracelets that lit up in synchronization during the show. What they might not know, however, is that Swift let her guests control the bracelet colors during their visiting performances.

5) In an interview portion of the film, Lena Dunham shares her memory of Taylor playing 1989 for her pre-release date: “I made her play it over and over until she finally said, ‘I don’t want to play it anymore.'”

6) In one scene, Swift explains snagging Mick Jagger for a duet on “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” at her Nashville tour stop. “My dad’s like, ‘My friend swears he was sitting next to Mick Jagger at lunch yesterday.’ So I text Mick and I said, ‘Hey are you in town? I’m playing a show tomorrow night, do you want to come out and sing “Satisfaction”?’ And he just writes back, ‘What will I wear?'”

7) At 1:17:00, Swift’s friends — from Selena Gomez to Haim to Cara Delevingne — share stories on what a “typical hang with Taylor” is like. Hints: Dancing, and lots of cats.

8) Swift shares she wanted to duet with Mary J. Blige on “Doubt” after hearing the soul queen sing it at a Grammy party. “I’m so doubtful of myself constantly — no matter what I achieve, no matter what happens,” Swift said. “So that song struck a chord with me. I remember thinking, ‘That would be amazing if I could ever sing that with her.'” And in L.A., they did.

9) Swift heaps massive praise on her “Mirrors” duet partner in one scene. “I think Justin Timberlake is the closest thing our generation has to Frank Sinatra ,” she said, comparing one actor-singer to another. “I honestly think he’s one of the greatest musicians of our time.”

10) Post credits fun! Taylor shares her plans for 2016, saying, “Maybe I’ll jut eat carbs for the next seven months. I don’t have to wear any crop tops.” She also stands in front of the camera holding her two cats while one of them desperately tries to escape. The film ends with the words, “No cats were harmed in the making of this tour. Just one pop star.”

21 Moments You Won't Forget From Taylor's 1989 Tour

Crazy outfits, the rotating stage, hot backup dancers, even hotter celebrity friends: WE'VE GOT IT ALL.

Sam Stryker

BuzzFeed Staff

Taylor Swift's 1989 world tour is this summer's hottest ticket...but what are you really in for if you've snagged a coveted seat? And what if you WON'T be able to see Taylor at one of her sold-out shows?

View this photo on Instagram

That's what I wanted to figure out when I saw Taylor live on August 25 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. What does Taylor have in store for her fans? Here's what I experienced...

1. She kicks things off with "Welcome to New York."

Everyone screams the lyrics and the arena is ROCKING. But should she really be opening the show with this song? I mean, her stage with the New York backdrop and street signs WAS awesome, but it was a little weird being welcomed to New York...in California. There are SO many songs she could have opened with, but she chose this one.

And the cherry on top of the sundae: She probably will NEVER sing this song on this tour in NYC unless she adds new dates at Madison Square Garden — her New York tour dates were actually at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey . PROBLEMATIC.

I rest my case.

2. Then she launches into the SEVERELY underrated "New Romantics."

"New Romantics" is amazing. It's only on the deluxe edition of 1989 but real music fans KNOW it should be a single, and hearing it live only confirmed that notion. It's peppy, upbeat, and will have you shaking your booty. HEED OUR PLEAS, TAYLOR!!!

3. "Blank Space" is her third song of the night, and it's a good, if not knock-your-socks-off performance.

It's pretty good live, but not the performance you remembered at the end of the night — especially because the sets and choreography are less colorful and impressive compared to what you'll see the rest of the night. The 1989 stage, you'll quickly learn, is the perfect amount of "awesome" without distracting from Taylor's performance.

4. Next up is a hella awesome remix of "I Knew You Were Trouble" complete with these smoke jets and shirtless backup dancers.

This was probably the most risqué moment of the evening (it was definitely kind of sort of really homoerotic?!?!) — the audience DEFINITELY skewed younger, and Taylor played to that. But if you're going to be introduced to a world of rippling biceps and shredded abs, it may as well be at a Taylor Swift concert.

5. Actually, let's pause and reflect on those backup dancers for a moment.

Let's just say Taylor has A+ taste in backup dancers. These boys have MOVES. There's more to see at this show than just one of the world's biggest pop stars.

6. She then proceeds to go through some of 1989 's deeper cuts.

Following "Trouble," Taylor plowed through "I Wish You Would," "How You Get The Girl," and "I Know Places." The audience was a little less into these songs but Taylor still brought it. There were some crazy-awesome outfits that actually LIT UP during "How You Get The Girl." And then "I Know Places" was an appropriately eerie performance.

7. Actually, the show is REALLY all about showcasing 1989 . Which makes sense...it's called the 1989 world tour, after all!

Swift played 18 songs at the show I went to. Two of those were covers — more on that later — and of the remaining 16 songs, just three were NOT from 1989 . That means she left off a lot of her biggest hits, from "You Belong With Me" to "22." Is that a bad thing? In some ways, no — 1989 is an ICONIC album and to hear most of it live is an amazing experience. But it would have been nice to have heard another song or two from Taylor's back catalog — after all, those are the major songs that made her a star in the first place!

Also, this is that light-up dress from "How You Get The Girl." It was REALLY cool.

8. Taylor's other outfits are 🔥🔥🔥.

I mean, really.

This girl really has STYLE.

Please excuse my cheesy joke ., 9. perhaps unsurprisingly, taylor's friends lend her a hand throughout the show..

During breaks in between songs when Taylor went off-stage to change, messages from her celebrity friends appeared on a big screen on stage. Lena Dunham , Cara Delevingne , Lily Aldridge, Karlie Kloss, HAIM, Jaime King, and of course SELENA GOMEZ, along with Taylor's longtime (non-celeb) friend Abigail Anderson.

At various points in the evening they talked about what it's like being friends with Taylor, what they do when they hang out, how they met, when they first heard 1989 , Swift's struggles with the media, and female friendship. Swift's gaggle of female friends have famously become a part of her persona , so it made sense on paper that they were there (at least, videos of them). But with the exception of Lena Dunham (who's hilarious) and Abigail (who has known Swift for a LONG-ASS time) it didn't really feel organic to the concert-going experience, especially because their appearances weren't music-driven — it was more about Swift's public persona than her music or craft.

10. The celebs who DO show up — Taylor's famed surprise guest appearances — can be hit or miss.

Taylor Swift @taylorswift13 There is nothing cooler than @st_vincent soloing while pyro goes off in the background. #1989TourLA 08:09 AM - 26 Aug 2015 Reply Retweet Favorite

A well-chronicled aspect of the 1989 tour is that Taylor brings out a bevy of celebrity guests at each of her shows — some to perform, some just to walk the stage. The first two guests at my show were Beck and St. Vincent. Both are incredibly talented — seeing St. Vincent play the guitar live was life-changing — but their audience skews older, for sure. When they were performing, I turned around to the women sitting behind me and asked if they thought any of the largely teenage audience knew either performer. They did not.

Having a guaranteed surprise guest sounds AMAZING...in theory. The problem is since you know it's coming, you spend a lot of the show anticipating their arrival, and there is no real spontaneity to the so-called "surprise." When they do show up, you judge who you saw at your show against all of the other shows. When Beck and St. Vincent stepped on stage, I felt a little let down — I was hoping for someone more along the lines of Lorde, The Weeknd, or Selena Gomez and Justin Timberlake, WHO I MISSED BY JUST ONE NIGHT. But then I thought more about it, and realized how RIDICULOUS my disappointment was. Also, I came here to see Taylor Swift — why was I so hung up on some performers who were only on stage for five-ish minutes? To be honest, the whole "guest performer" thing probably does more experience-wise for Taylor than the audience. And that's fine, she's earned that right.

Long story: The surprise guests don't make or break the show — and they shouldn't.

11. That might be because these guest appearances are very last-minute.

John Legend sang "All of Me" later in the show, right before "Wildest Dreams." There was a MUCH stronger reaction for him than Beck and St. Vincent — sorry, guys — which shouldn't be surprising, I guess. After he performed, Taylor talked about how she had been texting Legend's wife Chrissy Teigen before the show, and she asked her if John would come on stage and perform. Apparently — APPARENTLY — he was only confirmed to perform a half an hour before Taylor went on stage. So maybe the crazy variety of names who have appeared on stage throughout the tour — everyone from Julia Roberts to Russell Wilson — has more to do with who's attending shows than anything?

12. Mid-show, she slows things down with "You Are In Love" and "Clean."

Things slow down for these songs, and Taylor starts to really *connect* with the audience.

13. This is also where she starts preaching her message of endless optimism to the audience.

"I can see every single one of you," Taylor says at one point in the show. She's referring to these light-up wristbands that you're given that illuminate at various points in the show, but she also could be talking about how she's trying to connect with every member of the audience. She talks a lot about not giving into bullies, believing in yourself, and getting through bad days. It's relentlessly positive and totally folds into Taylor's public image. But we wanted the hits!

14. Her stage is INSANE. Like, she ends up RIGHT above you.

At the start of the show, Taylor's stage looks pretty normal, with a long catwalk. OK, she walks into the audience, cool! you think to yourself. BUT YOU ARE SO WRONG. Not only does the stage elevate high into the arena, it ROTATES, so at several points in the show, Taylor is either facing you directly OR she is right above you, no matter where you're sitting in the arena. In that sense, there's really not a bad seat in the house...which is pretty damn cool.

15. "Love Story" is one of the few throwbacks.

It's an updated version for this tour, and it's pretty catchy — especially considering it utilizes Taylor's amazing stage to full effect — she flies over you like the pop superhero she is.

16. Hearing "Style" live is pretty cool.

This is where Taylor USUALLY brings out some of her surprise guests to walk the stage, whether it's Kobe Bryant, Ellen, or one of her many model friends. Unfortunately for our show, there was no celeb cameo. We had to settle for her rollerblading backup dancers...which wasn't a bad thing!

17. And "Bad Blood" is an intense, militaristic performance that is one of the many highlights of the night.

In terms of choreography, "Bad Blood" is arguably the strongest point of the show. For most other songs, Taylor's stage movement is pretty straightforward — she struts her stuff back and forth along the stage like the sass machine she is. But for "Bad Blood", she dances and climbs on these cool glass panels that are carried around by her hunky backup dancers. Her squad of female besties weren't on stage — neither was Kendrick Lamar — but it kind of felt like the badass "Bad Blood" music video had come to life.

18. But Taylor REALLY gets rocking during "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together."

Taylor gave a rock-ified performance of her hit single from Red . It was definitely one of the highlights of the show, and only furthered the argument that a few more of her older hits — even remixed versions — would have been really, really solid additions to the show.

19. Taylor slows things down toward the end with "Wildest Dreams."

This was right after John Legend came on stage. Taylor still kept the momentum of the show going, which is no small feat after an Oscar winner walks off stage. "Wildest Dreams" is pretty good live, and it was a great way to slow things down before the final two big numbers.

20. Then she gets majestic with "Out of the Woods."

Video can't really do "Out of the Woods" justice. Her backup dancers fly these huge paper airplane kits above the audience, paper-airplane shaped confetti is blasted from the ceiling, and Taylor gets the audience to chant along toward the end of the song. If there is one song on 1989 meant to be sung live in an arena, it's this one...and Taylor DELIVERS, and then some.

21. 21. Finally, she'll close out the show with a rousing rendition of "Shake It Off" that will have you getting down to THIS. SICK. BEAT.

Because, DUH, and it looks amazing (her stage goes up and rotates) and sounds even better (you're dancing your ass off). And it's a great way to end the show...even though you wish she could perform for another two hours.

And that's the 1989 world tour, Swifties!

22. correction.

The writer attended Taylor's show on Aug. 25. An earlier version of this post misstated the date of the concert.

Taylor Swift’s 1989 World Tour managed to be even more star-studded than the MTV Video Music Awards, which everyone who's anyone attends (except One Direction, who were noticeably absent from T-Swift's tour too, sob.)

She brought out fellow song-of-the-summer contenders like Fetty Wap and Walk the Moon, the entire girl gang from "Bad Blood," half the cast of Friends , and America's very own sweetheart (that's Julia Roberts for the uninitiated). Does Taylor Swift know everyone? It's quite likely.

Because it's impossible to stay on top of her sprawling roster of A-list guests, we've put together an exhaustive timeline of every last star-powered appearance during the 1989 tour, from her model squad of BFFs to some of the world’s biggest recording artists.

Dwyane Wade, October 27: And Taylor’s final South Beach special appearance? The Miami Heat star, who also happened to bring along a personalized jersey for the lady of the hour.

Ciara, August 8: Yeah, it doesn't get much cooler than this...

Nico & Vinz, August 1: Even Norwegian rappers made an appearance on the 1989 tour.

MKTO, July 25: What could be better than all of Taylor's fans singing along to "Classic"? Not a lot.

Walk the Moon, July 24: "Shut up and watch me dance." — Taylor Swift at every awards show.

Sam Hunt, July 19: The rising country star showed up in Chicago to perform "Take Your Time." On a park bench, no less...

Serayah, July 18: Another day, another incredible "Style" collaboration.

Echosmith, June 12: Echosmith's front woman Sydney Sierota totally got the Taylor Swift treatment during their girl power-filled duet.

Imagine Dragons' Dan Reynolds, May 30: This duet was pretty much as radioactive as they come.

Taylor swift sparks debate with new ‘eras’ tour outfit during july 4th show, taylor swift debuts new 'eras' tour look on the 4th ... sparks debate.

Taylor Swift has debuted a new look in her ever-evolving 'Eras' tour ... but Swifties seem torn over the outfit's significance.

The singer hit the stage at the Johan Cruyff Arena in Amsterdam, Netherlands Thursday evening, and appeared to debut a new outfit for her '1989' era.

Waiting for your permission to load TikTok Post.

Check it out ... Swifties couldn't get enough of Taylor as she performed her hit, "Style," in a sparkling blue crop top and red-orange skirt. Many fans were quick to point out that this is a combo she's yet to wear ... as she's recently switched up the looks for this particular segment of her record-breaking tour.

Dutch fans were quick to praise Taylor's style ... as they believed she wore the blue and red-orange ensemble to pay homage to the Netherlands. In case you didn't know, the Dutch flag was originally blue, white, and orange ... with red eventually replacing orange on the ensign.

However, as Taylor's concert fell on the Fourth of July -- one of the singer's favorite holidays -- American Swifties were convinced the outfit was meant to commemorate America's birthday.

It didn't take long for fans to share their opinions on X, with one putting it best when they wrote ... "She made both American and Netherlands fans happy by this outfit."

Taylor has 2 more shows in the Netherlands, so she'll be skipping out on this year's holiday weekend. The Grammy has become known for throwing lavish Fourth of July parties at her Watch Hill residence ... often inviting her famous friends to party it up at her impressive manse.

Waiting for your permission to load the Instagram Media.

Last year's celebration saw Taylor enjoying some sun and girl time with Selena Gomez and the HAIM sisters. In fact, this girls' trip came right before Taylor's 'Eras' tour stop in Kansas City ... where now-boyfriend Travis Kelce first tried to shoot his shot with the singer.

Well ... you know the rest of their love story !!!

Fans from the Netherlands saw it as a tribute to their national flag. In contrast, some spectators speculated that Taylor acknowledged her fondness for July 4th, a significant holiday for her.

@gumpamy  said on X, formerly Twitter, "Netherlands flag? Wow! Good idea!"

However,  @grant_hawt18392 noticed "she was supposed to do it  the other way around ."

Taylor Swift’s Star-Packed ‘1989’ Tour: Relive Every Cameo

By Jon Blistein

Jon Blistein

Taylor Swift  has spent the better part of the past five months bringing her masterful 2014 album,  1989 , to the masses. Swift's gigantic pop production — winding down Saturday in Tampa, Florida — has criss-crossed the United States, as well as parts of Europe, but the star has taken pains to distinguish the trek from your run-of-the-mill stadium spectacle, sprinkling her shows with surprise guests from across the musical spectrum.

Swift has paired with everyone from rising stars like the Weeknd, Fetty Wap, Sam Hunt and Rachel Platten, to established peers like Lorde, Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez, and celebrated veterans like Miranda Lambert, Justin Timberlake and Mick Jagger. If previous Swift album cycles were marked by overwrought discussions about which ex a song was calling out,  1989 has been first and foremost about friendship. Swift and her audience are not separate entities, but fellow partygoers: She reacts to the presence of her guests with the same incredulity as the crowd.

Tracking Swift's revolving door of  1989 guests was as much a pastime this summer as baseball or trying to ignore Donald Trump. To date, 35 of Swift's 61 North American shows have featured at least one surprise guest, with some featuring two or three, plus an assortment of friends, who walked a lengthy catwalk alongside Swift during "Style." For those hoping to relive that magic moment — or for fans at guest-less shows still stricken by FOMO —  Rolling Stone has compiled a complete rundown of the cameo-crammed tour.

Dan Reynolds, “Radioactive” in Detroit

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift's first North American show in Bossier City, Louisiana, was a guest-less affair. So was night two in Baton Rouge. Eight days — and one quick jaunt to Norwich, England for a spot at Radio 1's Big Weekend festival — later,  Swift served her first  1989 tour surprise: Dan Reynolds, who pumped his fists with Swift as they traded vocals on Imagine Dragons' 2012 track, "Radioactive."

Little Big Town, “Pontoon” in Pittsburgh

Taylor Swift

Despite a dramatic, all-encompassing turn to pop on 1989 , Swift is always ready for the country: In Pittsburgh, she brought out Alabama outfit Little Big Town for their 2012 Number One, "Pontoon," an ode to on-the-water revelry with a delightfully cheeky hook — "Out here in the open/Mmmmm-motorboatin'." Swift's backup dancers even came out in swim trunks and goggles, and some were wrapped in unicorn inner tubes.

Echosmith, “Cool Kids”; Rachel Platten, “Fight Song” in Philadelphia

Taylor

Over two nights in Philadelphia, Swift shone the spotlight on the next crop of pop superstars. During her first show, she brought out Echosmith's Sydney Sierota  to perform the group's breakout single, "Cool Kids." And on night two, she was joined by Rachel Platten. The pair belted Platten's empowering, piano-driven smash, "Fight Song," Swift gazing like a proud peer as the rising singer handled the track's stirring bridge on her own.

The Weeknd, “Can’t Feel My Face” in East Rutherford, NJ (Night One)

Taylor Swift

Swift broke out the big guns for her first show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. In addition to a duet with the Weeknd on his summer hit, "Can't Feel My Face," the pop star welcomed the U.S. women's national soccer team to walk the catwalk during "Style" with their World Cup trophy . Topping it all off, Swift assembled a sizable chunk of her girl gang, including Lily Aldridge, Lena Dunham, Gigi Hadid and Hailee Steinfeld to join her for "Bad Blood."

Nick Jonas, “Jealous” in East Rutherford, NJ (Night Two)

Taylor Swift

Swift didn't disappoint her New York–area fans at her second show at MetLife. "Style" featured another array of friends including Candice Swanepoel, Lily Aldridge, Uzo Aduba, Karlie Kloss, Behati Prinsloo and Gigi Hadid; but the night's big guest was Nick Jonas, who lead a bombastic rendition of his soulful pop hit, "Jealous."

Lorde, “Royals”; Jason Derulo, “Want to Want Me” in Washington, D.C.

Taylor Swift

After her star-packed New York stand, Swift kept things relatively simple in Washington, D.C. On night one, friend and pop prodigy Lorde hit the stage for "Royals," while the following night featured Jason Derulo. The R&B singer dutifully took the reins of the propulsive "Want to Want Me," getting so wrapped up in the heat of the moment his shirt mysteriously vanished by the end of the song.

Andy Grammer, “Honey, I’m Good”; Sam Hunt, “Take Your Time” in Chicago

Taylor Swift

On her 2011  Speak Now tour, Swift welcomed burgeoning blue-eyed pop singer Andy Grammer to the stage for a rendition of his breakout single, "Keep Your Head Up." Four years later, she trotted Grammer out again on her first night in Chicago for a performance of his equally infectious 2015 single, "Honey, I'm Good." The next night, Swift gave some shine to rising country crooner Sam Hunt, who parked himself next to Swift for a duet of his fetching, half-rapped ode to slow, simple love, "Take Your Time."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lzv2j3Q8Mig]

Walk the Moon, “Shut Up and Dance”; MKTO, “Classic” in Foxborough, MA

Taylor Swift

With "Fight Song" and "Can't Feel My Face" already under her belt, Swift continued to plow through the various tracks vying for song of the summer 2015. Walk the Moon's slow burner, "Shut Up and Dance" peaked at Number Two on the Hot 100 this July after being released in September, 2014, and Swift and frontman Nicholas Petricca offered an outsized rendition of the ebullient earworm. She replicated that same energy with MKTO the following night during a sizzling performance of the duo's 2014 song-of-the-summer contender, "Classic."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JO_U0747BzM]

Nico and Vinz, “Am I Wrong” in Vancouver

Taylor Swift

The 1989 tour rolled into Canada with Norwegian duo Nico and Vinz joining Swift on stage for their 2014 track "Am I Wrong. The song's thumping percussion and achingly triumphant hook wouldn't sound out of place in Swift's own set list, and the pop star adapted easily to the track, slinking around the stage and smiling widely as she sang with the duo.

Fetty Wap, “Trap Queen” in Seattle

Taylor Swift

The love song that warmed hearts across the world this summer was given the duet it always deserved when Swift teamed up with Fetty Wap for his beloved breakout, "Trap Queen." Swift kept the romantic vibes going later, when she walked the catwalk during "Style" with the Pacific Northwest's cutest couple, Ciara and Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfT3Jr0iMgg]

Fifth Harmony, “Worth It”; Little Mix, “Black Magic” in Santa Clara, CA

Taylor Swift

Girl groups ruled during Swift's two-night stop in Santa Clara, California. At her first show, Swift welcomed Fifth Harmony for a performance of "Worth It," easily nestling into her role as the sixth harmonizer on the group's silky, bombastic, horn-laced single. The next night, U.K. vocal quartet Little Mix took the stage for a sugar-coated rendition of "Black Magic."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE6BqsMp02k]

Kobe Bryant; OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, “Counting Stars” in Los Angeles (Night One)

Taylor Swift

The 1989 world tour parked itself at the Staples Center in Los Angeles for a whopping five nights at the end of August, and the run found Swift achieving a notable milestone: Sixteen sold-out shows at the famed venue — a number equal to the NBA Championships banners hung by the Los Angeles Lakers. Fittingly, Lakers star Kobe Bryant was on hand during night one to raise a banner in Swift's honor. The show also featured a musical surprise for good measure, with OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder hitting the stage for "Counting Stars."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wh-68HBJr1M]

Uzo Aduba, “White Horse”; Mary J. Blige, “Doubt” and “Family Affair” in Los Angeles (Night Two)

Taylor Swift

While not all of Swift's guests have been musicians, Orange Is the New Black star Uzo Aduba doubled down on her East Rutherford catwalk cameo and coaxed a deep cut out of Swift in Los Angeles. Aduba revealed a set of deep, gorgeous pipes as she took lead on  Fearless  hit "White Horse" while Swift plucked at her acoustic guitar and delivered backup vocals.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1Ta9KjSszU]

Later, Swift brought out Mary J. Blige for something old and something new: First, "Doubt," from Blige's 2014 effort, The London Sessions , then the still swinging "Family Affair." Capping it all off, Swift welcomed "Blank Space" video star, Sean O'Pry to the stage for "Style,"  though he also had to share the catwalk with Matt LeBlanc and Chris Rock.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VRNb3Upu64A]

Alanis Morissette, “You Oughta Know”; Natalie Maines, “Goodbye Earl” in Los Angeles (Night Three)

Taylor Swift

Night three in Los Angeles found Swift paying tribute to two Nineties heroes, the Dixie Chicks and Alanis Morissette. First, Swift showed she hadn't lost her country twang, stringing out and punching up her drawl alongside Natalie Maines on the Dixie Chicks' boot-stomping "Goodbye Earl." Later, Swift and Morissette scorched the stadium — and exes everywhere — with a devastating performance of the latter's breakup anthem "You Oughta Know."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J47TiDvxnTg]

Noted Swiftie Ellen DeGeneres closed out the proceedings in characteristically ridiculous fashion, donning a sparkling silver jumpsuit to match Swift's shimmering dress as they walked the catwalk together on "Style."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpjxAPHoW8o]

Beck and St. Vincent, “Dreams”; John Legend, “All of Me” in Los Angeles (Night Four)

Taylor Swift

Swift cobbled together a delightfully unique collaboration for her fourth night at Staples, welcoming Beck and St. Vincent for a performance of the former's recent single, "Dreams." The driving pop-rock cut marks a significant turn from Beck's mellow Morning Phase  LP, but the musician relished sharing stadium spotlight with Swift as St. Vincent slashed away at the song's crunchy, funked-out guitar riffs. Later, Swift slowed things down with John Legend, who commandeered the pop star's piano and led the way during a stunning duet on his tear-jerking power ballad "All of Me."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3D5NGDW4lQ]

Selena Gomez, “Good For You”; Justin Timberlake, “Mirrors”; Phoebe Buffay, “Smelly Cat” in Los Angeles (Night Five)

Taylor Swift

The final night of Swift's Los Angeles stand belonged to a little-known coffeeshop singer-songwriter: Phoebe Buffay. Or rather, Lisa Kudrow, who reprised her Friends  role for a performance of Buffay's beloved Central Perk smash, "Smelly Cat."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4gIyPCp9H0]

The night also featured two slightly more well-known musicians: Selena Gomez, who stopped by for a rousing rendition of her tortured slow jam "Good for You," and Justin Timberlake, who took the stage for his devotional paean "Mirrors."

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlVVCYOqw48]

Omi, “Cheerleader”; Avril Lavigne, “Complicated” in San Diego

Taylor Swift

Swift did not slow down after her five-night L.A. takeover. Three days after her final Staples Center gig, and a few hours south on Interstate 5 in San Diego, she brought out Omi for another summer 2015 anthem, "Cheerleader." Swift also invited Avril Lavigne up for a performance of her 2002 breakout hit "Complicated," a still perfectly pained jam that proves the cup of teen angst will never run dry.

[youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YtQZh9Ps8A]

Wiz Khalifa, “See You Again” in Houston

Taylor Swift

The 1989 tour settled into its fourth month, and the final weeks of summer, in Houston. Swift once again surprised her fans with another recent ubiquitous hit, calling to the stage Wiz Khalifa, who helmed his  Furious 7 hip-hop power ballad, "See You Again." Swift dutifully stood in for the song's co-writer, Charlie Puth, belting the aching, striving chorus he sings on record.

The Band Perry, “If I Die Young” in Indianapolis

Taylor Swift

Swift offered another nod to her roots in Indianapolis, strapping on a sparkling acoustic guitar and joining the Band Perry for a rousing rendition of their hit "If I Die Young." The song's delicate instrumentals and musings might seem out of place for a massive pop production like the 1989 tour, but Swift and the Band Perry deftly reconstructed the track as a stadium-sized tearjerker.

Echosmith, “Cool Kids” in Columbus, OH

Taylor Swift

Echosmith singer Sydney Sierota earned the unique distinction of being the only performer to take the stage twice, in two different cities on the  1989 tour (save Uzo Aduba, who performed one night, and strutted the stage during "Style" the other). Sierota re-teamed with Swift in Columbus, Ohio, several months after her initial cameo in Philadelphia, delivering another infectious rendition of Echosmith's breakout hit, "Cool Kids."

Dierks Bentley, “Every Mile a Memory” in Kansas City, MO

Taylor Swift

Swift kept the country vibes going in Kansas City, welcoming Dierks Bentley to the 1989  party to breeze through his 2006 hit "Every Mile a Memory." Bentley and Swift traded lines and coalesced for harmonies, switching up the lyrics — "Red sun down, over a Kansas City sky," Swift bellowed — for some perfectly acceptable pandering to the hometown crowd.

Steven Tyler, “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing”; Kelsea Ballerini, “Love Me Like You Mean It”; Alison Krauss, “When You Say Nothing at All” in Nashville (Night One)

Taylor Swift

With country clearly on her mind, Swift was did not disappoint the Music City crowd at her highly anticipated homecoming concerts in Nashville. On night one, Swift proved she's still tapped into the country world with a rousing duet on "Love Me Like You Mean It" with rising singer Kelsea Ballerini. But she also paid tribute to  vaunted veteran Alison Krauss  with a performance of the musician's 2002 track "When You Say Nothing at All." For good measure, Swift also welcomed recent Nashville transplant Steven Tyler, who helped her belt Aerosmith's endlessly eye-watering Armageddon  anthem, "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."

Mick Jagger, “Satisfaction”; Leona Lewis, “Bleeding Love” in Nashville (Night Two)

Taylor Swift

Swift switched musical directions during her second night in Nashville, but her guests were far from disappointing. The star first welcomed Leona Lewis for a performance of Lewis' devastating 2007 ballad "Bleeding Love." Then Swift served up one of her biggest surprises of the 1989 tour so far: Mick Jagger, who peacocked on stage for "Satisfaction" — much to the delight of one grandma in particular .

Nelly, “The Fix” and “Hot in Herre” in St. Louis

Taylor Swift

Hometown hero Nelly served up a double shot during his appearance in St. Louis , first pairing with Swift for a duet of his sultry, Marvin Gaye–sampling new single, "The Fix." But the house truly came down during "Hot in Herre," which featured an appearance from Haim, who closed out their run as  1989  tour openers that night. While Nelly breezed through the 2002 hit, the sister act and Swift dished out the indelible hook and some expertly choreographed dance moves.

Keith Urban, “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” and “Somebody Like You” in Toronto (Night One)

Taylor Swift

Keith Urban joined Swift at her first show in Toronto, proving country that clicks both Down Under and up in the Great White North. The pair teamed up for two performances, first kicking out Urban's latest single, "John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16," which they followed with the musician's 2002 Number One "Somebody Like You."

Charli XCX, “Boom Clap” in Toronto (Night Two)

Taylor Swift

Despite canceling some tour dates this summer so she could focus on new music, Charli XCX gladly hopped back onstage with Swift at her second concert in Toronto. The pair took a shot at pure pop perfection and easily hit the mark with a bombastic rendition of XCX's 2014 smash "Boom Clap."

Ellie Goulding, “Love Me Like You Do” in Arlington, TX

Taylor Swift

Swift has enlisted Ellie Goulding   to surprise her audiences on previous tours, so it's no surprise that the British singer eventually took the stage when her path crossed with the 1989 tour. The pair tackled "Love Me Like You Do," Goulding's summer hit from the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack , belting its indelible, amorous hook over a chorus of bombastic synths.

Miranda Lambert, “Little Red Wagon” in Greensboro, NC

Taylor Swift

Swift delivered another country hit in the midst of her pop bonanza, welcoming bona fide badass Miranda Lambert to the stage to perform her killer Platinum  single "Little Red Wagon." Swift looked happy to let Lambert take lead on the fierce track. She jumped in with some of her own backyard swagger but primarily sat back and marveled as one of country's contemporary masters did what she does best.

Tove Lo, “Talking Body” in Atlanta

Taylor Swift

Swift is well aware of the unique knack Swedes have for making killer pop, having worked extensively in recent years with Stockholm-based mastermind Max Martin. In Atlanta, Swift welcomed another Swedish star in her own right , burgeoning synth-pop singer-songwriter Tove Lo, who had the crowd howling with a performance of her sensual, slow-burning "Talking Body."

Pitbull, “Give Me Everything”; Ricky Martin, “Livin’ La Vida Loca” in Miami

Taylor Swift

Swift took her talents to South Beach for the penultimate show of her North American trek, doing everything to delight the hometown crowd short of bringing out Will Smith for "Miami." First, NBA star Dwyane Wade presented Swift  with her own Miami Heat jersey — number 13, of course — and soon after, the pop star was joined by Miami native Pitbull for a performance of "Give Me Everything." Saving the best for last, Swift welcomed Ricky Martin, who came out to a frenzied crowd and the still-transcendent opening horn riff of his 1999 hit "Livin' La Vida Loca."

Taylor Swift 's Eras Tour stop in London  (round one) has wrapped up, and it was another star-studded three-night affair!

On Sunday, June 23, the 34-year-old "London Boy" crooner hit the stage for the third and final time at Wembley Stadium this month, and welcomed another crop of big-name celebrities to the VIP tent, including a member of The Beatles and her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs Travis Kelce -- who attended all three nights and even hit the stage. The visits come after Swift performed her first two shows on Friday and Saturday, welcoming more than 160,000 fans between the two days -- including real royalty .

In attendance on Sunday was close friend Gracie Abrams -- who released a new song, "Us," with Swift on Friday -- as well as The Beatles' Paul McCartney, Jon Bon Jovi, Ellie Goulding and many, many more. Given Swift's connection to the U.K. capital -- she lived in London on and off with Joe Alwyn , her ex-boyfriend of six years -- it's no surprise just how many famous friends turned out over the course of the three-day stop.

Those who missed out on the first London leg (featuring  chicken tenders with seemingly ranch ) will have a chance to catch the Eras Tour at Wembley Stadium in August, when Swift returns for five more shows before she officially says "So Long, London" and heads back to the U.S. for tour dates in New Orleans, Miami and Indianapolis.

Here's the full list of celebs -- including Josh Hartnett though he didn't preface which concert he attended -- who made it to Swift's first Eras Tour stop in London this time around.

Cara Delevingne

Nicola Coughlin

Jonathan Van Ness

Jason and Kylie Kelce

  • Travis Kelce

Scott and Andrea Swift (Taylor's parents)

Salma Hayek

Leslie Mann (slide seven)

Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte

William and the royal kiddos -- Prince George and Princess Charlotte -- made an appearance at the show. The concert fell on William's 42nd birthday, who celebrated by dancing to Swift's hit, "Shake It Off." As a special treat, Swift and her boyfriend,  Travis Kelce  had a private meet-and-greet with the royals backstage.

Swift later went back to that same IG post and tagged Kelce, the first time she's done that.

Zara and Mike Tindall

Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson

Additionally, Stella McCartney was there.

He's back and ready for another singalong.

They're baaaaaack!

The Mission: Impossible  star was all smiles at Swift's show Saturday night in London.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher

The That 70s Show stars and real-life couple couldn't contain their smiles.

Liam Hemsworth and Gabriella Brooks

Greta Gerwig

Rachel Zegler

Theo James and Jamie Dornan

Third time's the charm for Taylor's lover!

Sophie Turner and Gracie Abrams

Abrams also joined Swift onstage for a surprise performance of their new song, "Us."

Paul McCartney

Ellie Goulding

Jon Bon Jovi

Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Andrew Scott

Fleabag reunion!

Cate Blanchett

Additionally on night three, Nick and Vanessa Lachey as well Piers Morgan were there.

Swift is no stranger to big names in the crowd. In August, during her Eras Tour stop in Los Angeles , her VIP tent saw friend after friend enter, including Selena Gomez, Mindy Kaling, Charlize Theron, Emma Stone, Channing Tatum and Kevin Costner, among many others. Since then, her No. 1 VIP has been No. 87 on the Kansas City Chiefs, Travis Kelce , who Swift  began dating in late (not so cruel) summer  of last year.

In May, Kelce  attended Swift's 87th Eras Tour show , which just so happened to occur in the City of Love -- Paris, France. Coincidence or is she a mastermind ? Regardless, Kelce was accompanied by her close friends, Gigi Hadid and Bradley Cooper , while her mom,  Andrea Swift , and  Lenny Kravitz  were also in attendance.

After a two-month break from the end of February to early May, Swift resumed her record-breaking world tour in Nanterre, France, and has visited Sweden, Portugal and Scotland in the weeks since, making each show with unique surprise songs -- including the recently debuted " murder mashup " and " diss track mashup. "

Sadly, Swift recently used her 100th show to announce that the Eras Tour will officially conclude  in December as she finishes out the two-year spanning undertaking in Vancouver, Canada -- the hometown of her good friend, Ryan Reynolds , who we predict will absolutely be present.

Sabrina Carpenter's SKIMS Campaign Didn't Rock Her Friendship With Taylor Swift

S abrina Carpenter's decision to work with Kim Kardashian's clothing brand SKIMS shortly after opening on Taylor Swift's Eras Tour caused quite a stir online given the "Blank Space" hitmaker and the reality TV star have been embroiled in a long-running, bitter feud. It all started in February 2016 when Kardashian's then-husband, Kanye West, debuted his song "Famous" and essentially claimed that Swift wouldn't be nearly as successful if he hadn't interrupted her at the 2009 VMAs. Then, in July, the SKIMS founder released a phone call, later revealed to have been edited, that purportedly showed the singer-songwriter consenting to West's offensive lyrics.

The footage stirred a seemingly career-ending hate storm for the "Shake It Off" songstress that forced Swift to put her thriving career on hold and take a year-long break from the public eye. In her 2023  TIME  Person of the Year profile, the world-conquering pop star admitted that her feud with West and Kardashian hurt more than most people knew . However, Swift's feelings didn't play into  the close-knit friendship she shares with Carpenter.  Speaking to  Rolling Stone in 2024, the "Espresso" hitmaker clarified that she gave Swift a heads-up before collaborating with Kardashian.

"I've been very, very communicative with her about that situation, and I just love her so much and support her till the end," Carpenter explained. "So it was no weirdness for me, but I know people will just say things because that's all they have time to do." Furthermore, the former Disney star stressed that she didn't concern herself with internet gossip.

Sabrina Carpenter And Taylor Swift's Friendship Is Stronger Than Ever

Certain netizens couldn't understand why Sabrina Carpenter had to inform Taylor Swift about her SKIMS collaboration beforehand. One commentator on X, formerly known as Twitter, argued: "Asking permission for doing a campaign is crazy [...] she's such a lapdog." However, another user clapped  back at their hot take by pointing out how unlikely it was that the "Feather" songstress begged Swift to let her take on the campaign. Carpenter probably just informed her of her decision to ensure there was no bad blood between them. Many commentators felt frustrated by how female artists who worked with Swift faced scrutiny for every little career move while others understood and appreciated the motivations behind the up-and-coming pop star's heads-up.

Despite all the internet chatter, it certainly seems like their bond wasn't negatively affected. In fact, Carpenter revealed to Rolling Stone that Swift let in her on one of her best-kept secrets: Her songs. The "Nonsense" hitmaker got to listen to "But Daddy I Love Him" before the rest of the world when it was released as part of "The Tortured Poets Department." She went on to gush about Swift, "I hold her to such a different echelon," adding, "I could never compare my life, my career, my trajectory to anything close to what she's done." Further, a few days after Carpenter's stunning photos for SKIMS went live, she and her partner, Barry Keoghan, enjoyed a little double date with Swift and Travis Kelce at Coachella.

Some Of Taylor Swift's Closest Friends Have Also Promoted SKIMS

It's no secret that Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez have been the best of friends for years. So, everyone was naturally surprised when the "Wizards of Waverly Place" alum took to her Instagram Stories in 2019 to enthuse about SKIMS: "Legit so freaking comfortable," (via Elle ). However, after Gomez received significant backlash for promoting Kim Kardashian's brand, she deleted the snap and instead posted a photo of herself and Swift, reiterating how close they are. Then, in January 2024, another one of the "Fortnight" singer's friends, Lana Del Rey, collaborated with SKIMS for their Valentine's Day collection. While Gomez was criticized for a small Instagram Story, the "Summertime Sadness" hitmaker fortunately didn't receive much heat for being the face of their range.

In fact, Del Rey even shouted out the Kardashians while discussing the collaboration with Vogue,  confirming, "I love Kim, and I love her family." She continued, "Me and my sister are huge fans of them, and have been watching them forever." The outspoken star further noted that she absolutely adored the brand, and their everyday wear was a go-to, so the campaign was a total no-brainer. Swift didn't seem too bothered by the collaboration because she attended the Grammys with Del Rey by her side about a month later. At the end of the day, it appears as though the pop star doesn't want to let her past experiences with Kardashian get in the way of her friends furthering their careers.

American singer and songwriter Taylor Swift performs on stage as part of her Eras Tour in Lisbon on May 24, 2024.

Despite their busy schedules leaving less time for IRL hangouts, the source emphasizes that, “they always stayed in touch. And whenever Cara’s name comes up, Taylor is quick to praise her as one of her favorite people in the world.”

Taylor Swift is reportedly caught in the middle of a feud between her two best friends, Blake Lively and Selena Gomez. https://t.co/qJ1GxGFujb — SheKnows (@SheKnows) April 10, 2024

Given how large and impressive Swift’s squad is, the source further revealed that this would definitely be a tough choice for the singer. While many might speculate Blake Lively to be the obvious choice, “the way things are shaping up these days, Cara’s a frontrunner,” the insider added.

Even with a team as large as Swift’s, being a maid of honor is still a ton of pressure — one the insider claims Delevingne is perfect for, and not just because she knows how to crank up the fun. “One of the most important jobs for the maid of honor is planning the bachelorette party and keeping Taylor calm and happy during the big day, and there’s no one better for that than Cara,” the source concluded.

While Delevingne seems like a great contender for the role, Swift and Kelce need to get engaged before any maid of honor decisions are set in stone.
