Hotel Inari is located in the heart of the Inari village close to all services and points of interest. In total there are 53 rooms; 23 with private sauna. Located in Hotel Inari´s main building, Restaurant Aurora offers an À la Carte & Pub Menu on daily basis.

Holiday Village Inari is ideally situated close to the centre of Inari village yet right on the shores of the lake. There are in all 27 cabins which are available year-round. 17 shower cabins, 3 small sauna cabins, 2 sauna cottages, 5 lakeview cabins and 5 aurora huts. Our largest cabins accommodate 3-4 people and include a fireplace and sauna. The smaller cabins accommodate comfortably 2 persons.

How do I get there?

Inari is easy to reach whether you are arriving with air or land transportation.

If you wish to use air transportation, we recommend to take a flight to Ivalo Airport. The flight between Helsinki and Ivalo is approximately 1,5 hours. Finnair operates between Helsinki and Ivalo daily all year round.

If you wish to use land transportation, we recommend to take a train from Helsinki to Rovaniemi and then a public bus from Rovaniemi to Ivalo. You can reach us easily also by own car.

Today’s trip takes you north of Saariselkä by bus to a remote lake nestled in the magnificent landscape of pine  forest and fells extending endlessly across the  breathtaking vastness rightfully called "the last wilderness of Europe".

Bore a hole through the ice and try your fisherman’s skills! The catch might just be these gems of  Lapland’s crystal waters, the trout, the perch, the grayling,  and the pike. You may choose to release your catch back into the lake or have the opportunity to fry the fresh fish you just caught over the open fire. Your guide has come prepared and will put together a tasty lunch on the campfire. In the meantime, settle yourself and your thoughts by the glowing warmth and calming crackle of the fire and admire the beautiful winter wilderness around you.

Arctic Ocean Safari

Day 1 | welcome to inari.

You will be picked up at Ivalo airport and taken to Inari village where you will check into your hotel room at Hotel Inari. Your guide will brief you on the upcoming days and do final checks to make sure that you have everything you need for the trip. Dinner at the hotel.

DAY 2 | SNOWMOBILE SAFARI BEGINS

After breakfast we will meet at the safari office next door to the hotel. Here you will get dressed in winter snowmobiling gear and listen to a final safety briefing before starting our adventure. Starting from the frozen Lake Inari, known for its ruggedness and beauty, we head towards the north.  At some point during our journey we will stop for a lunch before continuing the drive. Once we’ve reached our overnight destination we can warm our tired bodies in a hot sauna and refuel with a tasty dinner.

DAY 3 | VISIT TO THE ARCTIC OCEAN

After breakfast we will hop on our snowmobiles and cross the Norwegian border. Our journey continues through the bleakly beautiful and dramatic landscapes of Northern Norway, whose shores have been shaped into fjords by the last Ice Age. Trees are scarce and the weather can be extreme. On the shores of Norway we will take a walk by the Arctic ocean . The Gulf Stream prevents the sea from freezing. If you dare, you can test your manhood or womanhood by taking a dip in the icy water. During the day we learn about the Sámi people, the King Crab, salmon and the mighty ocean itself. Lunch will be outside by the fire on in a restaurant depending on the weather conditions. In the afternoon we return to our accommodation. In the evening it is time to relax and rest after sauna and dinner. Although if the sky is clear you may want to hop outside to see if the auroras are putting on their magic light show! 

DAY 4 | SNOWMOBILING BACK TO INARI

After breakfast we will start our final day of snowmobiling. Our route takes us through more dramatic and vast wilderness areas.  On the way back, we will once again stop to warm our toes and to have a lunch. We should arrive back in Inari in the afternoon or early evening, depending on weather and driving conditions.

DAY 5 | DEPARTURE

After breakfast you will be picked up and taken to Ivalo airport. It’s goodbye to Inari and the Arctic Ocean, but memories of the experience will probably stay with your forever.

• Clothing and equipment Before the departure our guests will receive the winter clothing included in the price: Winter overall, woollen socks, boots, mittens, balaclava, helmet. Dressing in many layers will keep you warm: guests wear their own clothes under the winter overall (long sleeved shirts and underpants or leggings, fleece or woollen blouse, comfortable trousers e.g. fleece trousers). You should take with you: a scarf, skiing cap or winter hat, sun glasses. For your own extra clothing or other equipment it is good to bring a soft bag (sports bag or backpack – not a suitcase), which can easily be fastened on the snowmobile.

Such an incredible experience, exciting and beautiful in equal measure. I was a bit cautious before we arrived being mindful of animal welfare but was completely reassured that the dogs are happy and healthy and very well cared for. A big thank you to our guide for the day Joel who was very informative and kind. The sledding was totally exhilarating! a unique experience that we will never forget.

This was an absolutely amazing experience! We had the pleasure of having Mallu as our guide and she was so friendly and professional! After a beautiful ride in the snow we were aloud to pet the dogs, which of course was so incredibly fun and lovely! Definately recommend joining the Husky safari ✨

Then gave us some warm clothing. You get by pair on the sledge's and swap at half. It was really beautiful and nice. The dogs seem to be well treated. Then you have some explanation and warm drinks.You go see the puppies.Good experience.

This was a wonderful experience! Our host/guide Audi was personable, helpful, and made everyone feel at home with his clear instructions. Our 13-year-old loved driving a sled. The scenery was beautiful and the dogs were so excited to run. It was great to hang out with and pet the dogs after the trip through the forest. At the end, Audi gave a very informative talk about raising and caring for the 198 dogs at the husky farm. Don’t miss this safari!

The snow mobile tour was incredible, definitely our favourite thing to do in Lapland by far! It is really fun and the views are amazing. 2 people share the snowmobile, but you stop half way through to change drivers and have a hot drink. There are lots of good photo opportunities! Our tour guide, Ferenc is great - he is very informative, kind and took us to amazing spots to get some great photos.

Fantastic 2 hour husky trip with knowledgeable tour guide. Ride went through beautiful scenery and driving the sledge was an amazing experience. Loved seeing and interacting with the huskies and puppies at the end of the trip. Would highly recommend booking this. Husky and co staff were great with changing our dates from last year and replied to emails very quickly.

Our guide was Johanna and she was brilliant, very helpful and friendly. We had so much fun, the changing area was so clean and organised, the huskies were so friendly and social and they seemed so happy when we approached them. The route was magical and was just an amazing experience

We arrange various day trips which last 1-6 hours. Learn more about the trips here:

Group size on the shorter day trips is 2-8 persons. On the whole day tour there are 2-6 participants and on overnight tours 2-8 participants. Private groups can be also bigger.

All our husky tours are organized without snowmobile assistance as on our safaris even the tour guides are driving with huskies. This way you can fully enjoy the peace and silence of the nature as well as the connection to your husky team.

Our husky tour always lasts the entire stated time. So, it doesn’t deduct the time spent getting dressed and undressed, for example, but you’re on a trip for all the money!

The tour was planned excellent, covering multiple types of landscapes with stunning views. The food as prepared very tasteful during all 5 days. The lodge has a sauna, small kitchen to handle your lunch or snack, tea, etc. it also has a large deck upstairs to watch the skies. It is a very short drive from Ivalo but nicely hidden in the woods unlike other by the road guest houses.”

Conquering the legendary inari lake.

Do you want to conquer the frozen Inari Lake, enjoy its wide, open space and the overwhelming silence of the wilderness?

During these tours we stay overnight in our wilderness lodge on an island of Inari Lake. Driving distance to the wilderness cabin is about 50 kilometers one way, so our guests are able to enjoy hours of mushing through forests and along the lake with our well-trained Alaskan huskies.

On the 3-day tour, the second day´s program includes a day trip of about 35 km, after which we return to our wilderness lodge again.

On the overnight tours each guest has an own husky team. There are 2-8 participants in the group.

We also offer the following day tours according to availability. Day trips are offered as soon as snow and ice conditions allow. Normally we have been able to run at least the two shortest safaris (1-2,5 hours) from Mid-November at the latest.

Short introduction to mushing

Duration of the tour 1 hour, driving distance 10-15 km.

The price includes: outdoor clothing (overall, shoes, woolly socks, balaclava and gloves), a dog team of 6-7 dogs for 2 persons and guidance.

Husky safari duration 100%: Our husky tour always lasts the entire stated time. So, it doesn’t deduct the time spent getting dressed and undressed, for example, but you’re on a trip for all the money!

Musher’s day dream

Duration of the tour about 6 hours: driving distance 50-70 km and driving time 4,5-5 h. During this tour everyone has an own husky team. Guide prepares a tasty lunch around open fire and a cup of hot, fresh coffee/tea complements the experience.

The price includes: outdoor clothing (overall, shoes, woolly socks, balaclava and gloves), an own husky team to every participant, soup lunch + coffee/tea, guidance.

This tour is our most demanding safari – we recommend it for physically fit guests. Not recommended for small children.

DAY TOUR PRICES FOR CHILDREN

8-11 years -25 % has a place in the sledge alone or with another child 4-7 years -50% in the same sledge with an adult/parent 0-3 years free of charge when accompanied by an adult/parent

• Group size on the shorter day trips is 2-8 persons. On the whole day tour there are 2-6 participants and on overnight tours 2-6 participants. Private groups can be also bigger.

Our safari guests are asked to arrive at our farm at the latest 20 minutes before the safari´s starting time in order to get equipped before the tour departure. The time used for dressing and undressing is not included in the given safari times.

There might be changes in the route and program due to the weather, snow and ice conditions or due to other safety issues.

Driving distances given are indicative, but might change if circumstances are difficult – huskies are eager runners, but they are not machines!

If safari includes coffee or lunch break, it takes place en route during the safari.

After the tour guests can photograph our huskies freely as well as play with the possible puppies. Of course, photographing is possible also on the safari.

• We can arrange a taxi to pick you up from your accommodation. Taxi from Ivalo village costs around 25 € oneway.

Cancellation terms: Cancellation concerning individual clients is free of charge, if made at least one day before the safari start. Otherwise full charge.

Own liability in accidents, which are caused by ignorance of the driving instructions, is 500 €.

There are over 100 Alaskan huskies living in our farm.

Huskies are friendly, social and active dogs which happily welcome you to meet them. There is no need for bad conscience when joining a husky safari, huskies love to run and enjoy their work! You can learn more about these beautiful animals during your visit.

40 years experience of huskies

Juha-Pekka has gathered knowhow about huskies already for 40 years. Our Alaskan husky farm is located in the same place where Juha-Pekka settled down with his 17 huskies in 1988. Long tradition and continuous interest in making the things in an even better way ensure, that you will have not only great time, but also the feeling of professionality in all doing as well as happy huskies which are taken care of very well.

No snowmobiles

We use snowmobiles when maintaining the tracks and in other needed service work. Boys also use snowmobiles in order to get to school or to their friends due to lacking public transfer.

Other things to do in winter

Our guesthouse and farm are surrounded by a beautiful forest area, which you can explore by various means.

If you enjoy walking , you can reach even Ivalo village in an hour either along the road or partly along Ivalojoki-river.

Especially if you are with children, it is fun to do some sledging or try our kick sledges . You can use both free of charge.

It is also possible to go snow shoeing or cross-country skiing . Equipment for both are available for rental.

King Crab Safari Winter Safari

Now it`s time to make your own deadliest catch! We pick you up at your hotel and transport you to Snowhotel Kirkenes. We drive by snowmobile and sled out on the fjord ice, where you help pull up the crab pods. The king crab is served in a rustic restaurant by the fjord the northern Norwegian way; fresh, steamed and irresistible!
