The Stade Roland-Garros is waiting for you to discover!

Take an amazing guided tour of a place steeped in tennis history and savour the RG experience. Venture behind the scenes and follow in the footsteps of the greatest champions the game has ever seen, all the way from the locker room to the legendary Court Philippe-Chatrier.

A tour through history

Built in 1928, the Stade Roland-Garros is a shining example of France’s sporting heritage. As part of your tour, you will discover its rich history, from the statue of the French aviator who gave the venue its name to that of Rafael Nadal, taking in the famous Jardin des Mousquetaires, the garden celebrating France’s four tennis “musketeers” of the second half of the 1920s and early 30s: Henri Cochet, Rene Lacoste, Jean Borotra and Jacques Brugnon. “Through these various statues, which tell the wonderful story of the Parisian Grand Slam, the French Tennis Federation (FFT) aims to pass on the tournament’s heritage to future generations,” said FFT President Gilles Moretton in 2021.

While maintaining the greatest respect for tradition, the stadium complex has been modernised and transformed, nowhere more strikingly than at the famous Court Philippe-Chatrier, whose new look is now familiar to you. After enjoying a panoramic view of the complex and its gardens from the top floor, you can admire the tournament’s famous trophies and posters in the presidential stand.

Feel what the players feel

Aside from all the history, the guided tour also gives you the chance to experience what a tennis champion goes through. From the locker room to the press room, you will see what the tournament looks like from a player’s perspective and soak up its unique atmosphere by walking out onto the court via a staircase and corridor adorned with the names of tennis’ greatest legends.

Avanesyan beats Ostapenko, continues to make history for Armenia in Cincy

2024 Cincinnati

Elina Avanesyan's 6-4, 7-5 defeat of Bianca Andreescu in the first round of the Cincinnati Open wasn't just a continuation of the 21-year-old's own stellar season. It was a history-making moment for Armenia as Avanesyan became the first player representing the country to compete in a Hologic WTA Tour main draw.

Avanesyan continued her success in Cincinnati on Thursday by defeating No.8 seed Jelena Ostapenko 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 in the second round. The win is her fourth Top 20 win of the season and first since knocking out Zheng Qinwen at Roland Garros.

Cincinnati:  Scores  |  Draws  |  Order of Play

Last week, the World No.60 started competing under the Armenian flag, announcing on social media: "I am proud to share that I am officially a citizen of Armenia, and I am honored to be competing under my Armenian flag starting at the Cincinnati Open on Monday! Excited for this new chapter and to bring success to my ancestral homeland."

Avanesyan was born in Pyatigorsk, Russia to Armenian parents from Nagorno-Karabakh who moved from the disputed region in 1992, during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War.

I am proud to share that I am officially a citizen of Armenia, and I am honored to be competing under my Armenian flag starting at the Cincinnati Open on Monday! Excited for this new chapter and to bring success to my ancestral homeland. 🎾 pic.twitter.com/v46Kc6dvB5 — Elina Avanesyan (@ElinaaAvanesyan) August 6, 2024

Avanesyan's switch made her the first player representing Armenia to be ranked inside the Top 100. The last Armenian to be ranked in the Top 500 was Ani Amiraghyan, who peaked at No.422 in August 2013. The only other Armenian player to reach the Top 100 on either tour was former ATP No.38 Sargis Sargsian, who reached his career high in January 2004.

On Sunday, Avanesyan's defeat of Lauren Davis in the first round of Cincinnati qualifying made her the first Armenian player to compete in a WTA qualifying draw since Liudmila Nikoyan at Pattaya City 2002, and the first to win a qualifying match since Nikoyan at Tashkent 2000. Nikoyan's highest ranking was No.500 in October 2000.

Back in 1989, Aida Khalatian also competed in the Moscow main draw, falling in the first round to Natasha Zvereva. Khalatian would represent Armenia following the country's independence in 1991, but at the time of her sole tour-level appearance played under the flag of the former Soviet Union.

Svitolina wins Cincinnati opener; Anisimova withdraws with fatigue

How swiatek is finding her calm after a summer of nonstop chaos, rankings watch: anisimova back inside top 50, shnaider cracks top 20.

Despite Armenia's minimal official WTA history, the country does have a connection to one of the game's greats. Former World No.1 Serena Williams's husband, Alexis Ohanian, has Armenian heritage. Like Avanesyan, Ohanian is the descendant of Armenians who fled the country during a time of war: his paternal grandparents emigrated to the United States as refugees of the Armenian genocide during World War I.

This decade has also seen four other countries represented for the first time at WTA level: Andorra (Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva at Madrid 2021), the Philippines (Alexandra Eala at Cluj-Napoca 2021), Burundi (Sada Nahimana at Rabat 2023) and Malta (Francesca Curmi at Palermo 2023).

This year has also seen Avanesyan reach her first WTA final last month in Iasi, where she fell to Mirra Andreeva in the title match. She returned to the fourth round of Roland Garros for a second straight year, and has also won three out of her three encounters with Top 10 players to date. Avanesyan upset Maria Sakkari at the Australian Open, Ons Jabeur in Miami and Zheng Qinwen at Roland Garros. In Cincinnati, she will take on No.8 seed Jelena Ostapenko in the second round.

Paris 2024 Paralympics: more than 1.75 million tickets sold a week before the opening ceremony

Public_Stade de France (34)

As the first events of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games get underway in 8 days' time, over 1.75 million tickets have already been sold, including over 700,000 since the start of the Olympic Games, with many sessions already virtually sold out. There are still great opportunities in many Para sports to come and thrill to the exploits of Para athletes from France and around the world, in the heart of the same iconic venues as at the Olympic Games.

A huge success . For several weeks now, ticket sales for the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games have been a huge success. Boosted by the Olympic Games, it is already booming, with over 1.75 million tickets already sold . Of these, 92% are French buyers, with 144 countries represented among ticket buyers.

However, there are still plenty of opportunities to join in the fun at affordable prices, with tickets still available from €15 to experience the thrills of the Games with emblematic Paralympic sports such as Para athletics at the Stade de France, wheelchair tennis at the Stade Roland-Garros, Para swimming at the Paris La Défense Arena and wheelchair basketball at the Arena Bercy.

From €15, you can also discover Paralympic sports with no Olympic equivalent, such as Boccia and Goalball, at the Arena Paris Sud.

Ceremonies also accessible

Tickets are also still available for the Opening Ceremony, from €150. For the first time in the history of the Paralympic Games, the public will be able to take part in a unique and exceptional Opening Ceremony, which will take place outside a stadium during a grandiose celebration of the Para athletes and their performances in a breathtaking setting: the Place de la Concorde.

Tickets are also still available from €45 for the Paralympic Games Closing Ceremony. The public will be able to experience the final festive moments of Paris 2024 at a great moment of communion with the Para athletes, at the Stade de France; a ceremony under the sign of celebration and emotion as the Paris 2024 Games come to a close.

Sessions and sports that are already almost sold out

A number of popular sports are now almost fully booked: Wheelchair fencing (Grand Palais), Para taekwondo (Grand Palais), Para track cycling (Vélodrome national de Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines), Para equestrian (Château de Versailles) and Cécifoot (Stade Tour Eiffel). This is also the case for the Pass découverte Paris centre and certain finals, such as the Wheelchair Rugby finals at the Champ de Mars Arena, the Wheelchair Basketball finals at the Bercy Arena and the Cécifoot semi-finals and final at the Eiffel Tower Stadium.

As with the Olympic Games, Paris 2024 is inviting spectators to visit the official ticketing website, tickets.paris2024.org , regularly to make sure they don't miss any ticket sales. Tickets can also be purchased via the official resale platform up to 12 hours before each session.

Finally, Para athletics ticket sales at the Stade de France have also been a success, with almost 500,000 tickets already snapped up. These sales should exceed those of the 2003 World Athletics Championships, already held at the Stade de France, when 530,000 tickets were sold.
