roland garros backstage tour

The Stade Roland-Garros is waiting for you to discover!

Take an amazing guided tour of a place steeped in tennis history and savour the RG experience. Venture behind the scenes and follow in the footsteps of the greatest champions the game has ever seen, all the way from the locker room to the legendary Court Philippe-Chatrier.

A tour through history

Built in 1928, the Stade Roland-Garros is a shining example of France’s sporting heritage. As part of your tour, you will discover its rich history, from the statue of the French aviator who gave the venue its name to that of Rafael Nadal, taking in the famous Jardin des Mousquetaires, the garden celebrating France’s four tennis “musketeers” of the second half of the 1920s and early 30s: Henri Cochet, Rene Lacoste, Jean Borotra and Jacques Brugnon. “Through these various statues, which tell the wonderful story of the Parisian Grand Slam, the French Tennis Federation (FFT) aims to pass on the tournament’s heritage to future generations,” said FFT President Gilles Moretton in 2021.

While maintaining the greatest respect for tradition, the stadium complex has been modernised and transformed, nowhere more strikingly than at the famous Court Philippe-Chatrier, whose new look is now familiar to you. After enjoying a panoramic view of the complex and its gardens from the top floor, you can admire the tournament’s famous trophies and posters in the presidential stand.

Feel what the players feel

Aside from all the history, the guided tour also gives you the chance to experience what a tennis champion goes through. From the locker room to the press room, you will see what the tournament looks like from a player’s perspective and soak up its unique atmosphere by walking out onto the court via a staircase and corridor adorned with the names of tennis’ greatest legends.

Rolling Stones Deliver Two Tour Debuts at Penultimate Show

The Rolling Stones delivered two tour debuts and a rare cover during the second-last stop on their Hackney Diamonds tour Wednesday night.

Mick Jagger and the band performed a 20-track set at the Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, which included an airing of “Far Away Eyes” from their 1978 album Some Girls .

The song was a set regular on the year of its release but it’s made only a handful of appearances this century. It was chosen from the regular fan vote list, which had also included “Dead Flowers,” “Let It Bleed” and “Sweet Virginia.”

Later the band performed “Bite My Head Off” from their latest record Hackney Diamonds  – which features Paul McCartney as a guest on the studio version – marking only the second time they’d ever played it, following one outing last year.

Between those two songs, the Stones revisited their cover of Bob Dylan ’s “Like a Rolling Stone,” which was a frequent feature in the ‘90s but had become rarer in recent times, appearing for only the second time in 2024.

After 19 shows across North America, the last tour stop takes place at the Thunder Ridge Nature Arena, Ridgedale, Missouri, on July 24. The band hasn’t revealed plans for any activities to follow that event.

The Rolling Stones Announce ‘Hackney Diamonds’ North American Stadium Tour

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

The Rolling Stones are hitting stadiums across North America in 2024 to celebrate the release of their new album, Hackney Diamonds . The 16-city tour (which includes a headlining slot at Jazz Fest in New Orleans) kicks off April 28 at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, and wraps up July 17 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Ticket sales begin December 1 at 10:00 am.

Hackney Diamonds is the first Rolling Stones album of new material since 2005’s A Bigger Bang . Produced by Andrew Watt and featuring guest appearances by Paul McCartney, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, and Lady Gaga, the album was met with near-universal acclaim. “A collection of bangers (old-school division) that nobody in their right mind had a right to expect in 2023,” Rolling Stone ’s David Browne wrote, “Hackney Diamonds isn’t just another new Stones album, but a vibrant and cohesive record — the first Stones album in ages you’ll want to crank more than once before filing away.”
