How to Get Tickets Pearl Jam Ten Club Members-Only Presale powered by Ticketmaster Request

What is ticketmaster request.

Pearl Jam is using Ticketmaster Request to power this fan club presale. Ticketmaster Request is a simple way to request tickets to popular shows, so you don’t have to compete in a first-come, first-served sale. You can take your time to review the available options and request the right tickets for you. All you need to do is tell us which show(s) you’re interested in, the type of ticket you want and your payment details. If tickets that match your request are available, your card will be charged, and we’ll email you instructions on how to view them. Note: each show you are confirmed for will be charged separately by Ticketmaster; the charge will appear as Ticketmaster*Pearl Jam.

How does the Ten Club ticket request work?

Complete your request in three easy steps. First, tell us what shows and tickets you’re interested in. Then, provide a credit card to complete your ticket request. If your request is fulfilled, your card will be charged and we’ll email you a confirmation with instructions on how to view your tickets during the week of February 19. Note: tickets will not show in your Ticketmaster account until all seating assignments are finalized.

How do I unlock access to the Ten Club ticket request?

Eligible Ten Club members will receive an email from Ten Club with the info. You can also find the presale info on the Ten Club Member News page. The Ten Club ticket request is for eligible Ten Club members only with active membership accounts as of Monday, February 12, 2024.

Is there a cutoff date to become a Ten Club member for the ticket request presale?

Yes. All fans must be a Ten Club paid member, current as of Monday, February 12, 2024. However, all fans can register for the chance to access the general sale on February 23 — tap here to get started.

Can I request tickets for more than one city?

Yes. By submitting a ticket request for any show, you are committing to purchase the ticket(s) should your request be fulfilled. For example, if you enter for five shows, it is possible your request can be fulfilled for all five shows in which case your credit card will immediately be charged for tickets to all five shows. However, you can only purchase up to two Ten Club tickets for each individual show. All tickets will be non-transferable in all states except where it is prohibited by law.

Can I get tickets to both shows in a city that has multiple performance dates?

Yes. For cities where there are two performance dates, you can request and may be confirmed for both shows, except in New York, where you can only be confirmed for one show.

Why can I no longer prioritize my shows?

Based on fan feedback, the prioritization tool caused confusion. Only request tickets for shows you can definitely attend.

My friend and I are both Ten Club Members. We both want to request a pair of tickets each. Can we both submit our requests using the same Ticketmaster account?

No, each member must request tickets using their own Ticketmaster account.

How will tickets be determined for Ten Club members?

To level the playing field, ticket requests are fulfilled in a randomized selection process. If selected for seated tickets, tickets will be assigned based on Ten Club seniority within the purchased price level.

Where are the tickets located?

Ten Club tickets are located in a variety of ticket types and locations. We anticipate greater demand for tickets than are tickets available. To better your chances of getting Ten Club tickets, select as many ticket options as you are willing to purchase.

What is the GA Pit or Reserved - Standing or Seating option?

Select this option if you are willing to stand in GA or sit through the show as you may be selected for either. If selected for GA standing tickets, you will receive early entry at a predetermined GA only door, at venues where early entry is permitted. If selected for Reserved Seating, your tickets will be assigned based on seniority in Ten Club.

What is the Reserved - Seating option?

In most venues, Ten Club reserved seated tickets will be available in two price levels. Reserved seated tickets are assigned to members based on seniority in the Ten Club within the purchased price level and will start closest to the stage extending back and include seats down on the arena floor. Ten Club ticketed areas will be highlighted on the seating chart during the ticket request process. Due to high demand at many of these shows, Ten Club seats can be located in some of the upper sections. Members with reserved tickets will enter the venue at the regular door time.

Why does Ten Club have seats in the upper areas?

Many venues have contractual partner programs which guarantee their subscribers access to some of the prime locations across all events in the building, including Pearl Jam shows. This is a contractual arrangement and is outside of Ten Club’s control. In some venues Ten Club must hold seats in higher sections to make up for the loss of ticket inventory in the lower areas.

What types of ADA Seating are available?

ADA seating is available through Ticketmaster Request during the seat selection process. Locations will vary by venue and are typically very limited. There is no ADA seating in the GA PIT at any of the shows.

Can I transfer or sell tickets I can’t use?

All tickets are non-transferable* and non-refundable.

Pearl Jam has asked Ticketmaster to ensure their fans have access to tickets at face value and to achieve this they have directed that tickets be restricted from transfer.* On the night of the show, all guests will be required to enter with the ticket purchaser. For fans that can’t use the tickets they have purchased, Pearl Jam and Ticketmaster will offer a Fan-to-Fan Face Value Ticket Exchange for every city beginning at a later date.*

*Does not apply to shows in Chicago, IL and New York, NY where the Fan-to-Fan Face Value Ticket Exchange cannot be mandated.

Any details on Fan-to-Fan Face Value Ticket Exchange for Pearl Jam?

Fan-to-Fan Face Value Ticket Exchange will be offered for every city beginning at a later date.* You must have a valid bank account or debit card within the country of the event(s) in order to sell through the Fan-to-Fan Face Value Ticket Exchange. Tickets identified for sale above face value on secondary marketplaces are subject to cancellation. For more info on Ticketmaster’s Fan-to-Fan Face Value Ticket Exchange click here.

What should I do if I’m buying tickets for a show in Chicago, IL and New York, NY?

Chicago, IL and New York, NY have laws that prohibit artists from being able to restrict the transfer of their tickets. For shows in these states, Pearl Jam strongly encourages fans to choose to only buy or sell tickets to one another on face value exchanges — including Ticketmaster’s Fan-to-Fan Face Value Exchange.

Is there a deadline to list my tickets for sale on the Face Value Exchange for Pearl Jam?

Tickets may be listed up until one hour after the event start time*. However, the sooner you can list your tickets on the Exchange the better opportunity for them to be purchased by another fan. Once it’s been an hour since the event started, any tickets that have not sold will be placed back into your account and will be available for you to use.

*Boston’s Fenway Park – Face Value Exchange will officially close 10 days prior to each event. Tickets cannot be sold or purchased on the Face Value Exchange after that time.

What happens if my tickets don’t sell for Pearl Jam?

Your tickets will remain available for purchase until one hour after the start of the event*. Once that time has passed, any tickets that have not sold will be placed back into your account and will be available for you to use.

Why are tickets non-transferable in some cities and not in others?

Local laws around resale as well as technical ticketing capabilities vary in different venues, states, and countries, therefore transferability will vary throughout the tour.

Common Questions

How do i register.

  • To register, please visit: HERE
  • Sign in to your Ticketmaster Account or create an account if you don’t have one.
  • Tell us what shows you’re interested in and submit your registration.

Why do I need to register?

Pearl Jam is asking fans to register in advance to help block bots and scalpers, and get more tickets to real people who want to attend the show. While it doesn’t guarantee that all fans who register will get tickets, it can significantly reduce the number of professional resellers who buy tickets to sell for profit.

Can I register for the shows outside of North America?

Yes. For additional details on registering for international tour dates, visit Pearl Jam’s Official Website or click here .

How many tickets can I buy with my code?

You can purchase up to four (4) tickets per arena show and six (6) tickets per stadium show indicated in the text you received.

Can I register more than once to increase my invitation status?

No. Your Ticketmaster account can only be registered for the sale once. You may update your registration any time before Sunday, February 18 at 11:59 p.m. PT. We only keep the last registration you submitted.

If I edit my registration more than once, will I be disqualified?

No. You can edit your registration as needed — we only keep the last registration that you submitted.

I received a registration confirmation email. Does that mean I will get tickets?

No, the registration confirmation email is simply to inform you that we have received your information.

A second email will be sent on the evening of Thursday, February 22 letting you know if you will receive a unique access code to join the sale or if you’ve been placed on the waitlist.

When will I receive an email letting me know if I’ll receive a unique access code or be placed on the waitlist?

On the evening of Thursday, February 22, you’ll receive an email letting you know if you selected to join the sale or if you’ve been placed on the waitlist. If you are selected, you will also receive a unique access code via text.

When submitting my registration, I received a six-digit authentication code from Ticketmaster. Can I use this code to purchase tickets during the sale?

No, that code was sent to you to verify your phone number at registration. It’s not a unique access code and cannot be used to purchase tickets.

Does registering mean I get a sale access code?

No. Registration does not guarantee access to the sale.

If I receive access to the sale, am I guaranteed tickets?

No. Access means you have an opportunity to join the sale where tickets are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

What is the ticket limit?

The ticket limit for the sale is four (4) tickets per arena show and six (6) tickets per stadium show.

What is PJ Premium?

PJ Premium seats are located in a variety of preferred locations and account for approximately 10% of ticket inventory per show. They are priced at market rate to offset increased touring costs while also keeping prices low for the rest of the ticket inventory. PJ Premium tickets will be available along with regularly priced tickets during the sale.

Can I transfer my code to someone else?

No, codes are unique to the account they’re issued to and won’t work if shared.

All tickets are non-transferable (except for in Illinois and New York) and non-refundable.

How can I get the seating map in advance?

Seating options vary depending on the event or venue and in some cases may not be available until tickets go on sale. Visit the event page on Ticketmaster to learn more about seating options and maps.

How will I know if I’ve been granted access to the Registration Sale after I’ve been placed on the waitlist?

If selected, you will receive a text with a unique access code and link to the sale. In the event of any text delivery issues, we’ll email your unique access code and link to the email address associated with your Ticketmaster account that you used to register. Access to the sale does not guarantee tickets. Tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. If you’re sent a unique access code and link, you should join the sale as soon as possible.

I’m a real fan – not a bot or reseller. Why didn’t I get access?

Selection is random and not a measure of how big a fan anybody is. There are typically more fans registered than there are tickets available so a limited number of fans get access to the sale, and others must be placed on the waitlist. The number of fans who receive access depends on the number of tickets currently available — this is done to help create a less crowded ticket shopping experience for fans.

Pearl jam announces 2024 ‘dark matter tour.’ get tickets today.

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder shreds the guitar mid-air while onstage.

Pearl Jam has a big year planned.

On April 19, the 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees will drop their 12th studio album “Dark Matter.”

A few weeks later, Eddie Vedder and co. will take the record on the road for their summer ‘Dark Matter Tour’ that will send the grunge rockers to arenas all over North America.

That includes a pair of back-to-back concerts at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Tuesday, Sept. 3 and Wednesday, Sept. 4 .

The band is excited to share their new record, too.

“We still care about putting something out there that is meaningful,” Vedder shared in a press release. “No hyperbole, I think this is our best work.”

And if you can’t wait to hear them shred live, you can grab tickets for the ‘Dark Matter Tour’ as soon as today.

Although the registration sale doesn’t start on Ticketmaster until Friday, Feb. 23, fans who want to ensure they have tickets ahead of time can purchase on sites like Vivid Seats before tickets are officially on sale.

Vivid Seats is a secondary market ticketing platform, and prices may be higher or lower than face value, depending on demand.

They have a 100% buyer guarantee that states your transaction will be safe and secure and will be delivered before the event.

Pearl Jam – 2024  Dark Matter  World Tour Dates

Pearl Jam: Top 50 Songs Ranked

50. “i got id” from ‘merkin ball’ (1995).

Always a highlight of Pearl Jam’s live shows, most of Pearl Jam actually don’t appear on the song. It’s Eddie Vedder on guitar and vocals and Jack Irons on drums, with Neil Young on guitar and producer Brendan O’Brien on bass.

49. “Indifference” from ‘Vs.’ (1993)

The closing song from the band’s second album, it’s quiet and spiritual. The best versions of this song are the live ones, particularly when Ben Harper joins the band and duets with Eddie Vedder.

48. “Deep” from ‘Ten – Redux’ (1991/2009)

‘Ten’ is a classic album with not an ounce of fat on it, but ‘Deep’ is one song that could qualify as a, ahem, ‘deep track.’ It’s one last blast of intensity before ‘Ten’ wraps with ‘Release.’ Some fans have postulated that Eddie Vedder wrote the lyrics about Andrew Wood, the late singer from Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament’s pre-Pearl Jam band, Mother Love Bone.

47. “Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town” from ‘Vs.’ (1993)

An acoustic ditty that you might have thought was a cover of an obscure R.E.M. song. Eddie Vedder sings warmly about a woman who never got out of her small town. She sees an old lover who moved on; she barely recognizes him and he probably doesn’t recognize her. More than a few fans may have seen themselves in these lyrics.

46. “Do The Evolution” from ‘Yield’ (1998)

A punk riff-inspired jam composed by Stone Gossard (who also plays bass on the track) fuels this rocker. The song inspired the band’s greatest music video, an animated epic by comic book creator Todd McFarlane, which tells the history of humanity in less than four minutes.

45. “Oceans (remix)” from ‘Even Flow’ single (1991)

One of many songs that references Vedder’s love for the ocean and surfing. According to an interview that Eddie Vedder did with Seattle Sound magazine, he wrote the lyrics while accidentally locked out of the studio. ‘It was drizzling and I wasn't dressed for an outing in the rain. I had a scrap of paper and a pen in my pocket, and they were playing this song [inside]. All I could hear was the bass coming through the wall, this window that was boarded up. So I wrote the song to the bass.’ This remixed version is rawer than the one used on the album, and was a B-side to the ‘Even Flow’ CD single.

44. “Smile” from ‘No Code’ (1996)

All that hanging out with Neil Young really rubbed off on the band; this song sounds like a Crazy Horse outtake. Jeff Ament wrote the music and also played guitar. (Live, he straps on the six string when they perform this, and Stone Gossard fills in on bass).

43. “Sonic Reducer” Christmas single (1992)

Some of Pearl Jam’s best covers are of lesser-known artists (see Victoria Wlliams’ ‘Crazy Mary’). This rendition of the Dead Boys’ 1977 punk rock classic brought the cult act to a much wider audience.

42. “Red Mosquito” from ‘No Code’ (1996)

Co-written by the entire band -- Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, Mike McCready, Eddie Vedder and drummer Jack Irons -- ‘Red Mosquito’ sounds a bit like Mike McCready was auditioning for the Allman Brothers Band; his slide guitar is incredible. Vedder’s lyrics were inspired by a 1995 Pearl Jam show in San Francisco. He was unable to finish the gig due to food poisoning. The band’s friend and mentor Neil Young stepped in for him. The song’s end refrain “If I had known then, what I know now,” might have deep meaning for fans, but for Vedder it was probably just about wishing he’d avoided some tainted food.

41. “Release” from ‘Ten’ (1991)

The closing track from ‘Ten,’ it’s the only one that all of the members - Stone Gossard, Jeff Ament, Mike McCready, Eddie Vedder and drummer Dave Krusen - wrote together. For Vedder, it was about transcending the family issues of his past, for Gossard and Ament, it was about transcending after the death of Mother Love Bone singer Andrew Wood.

40. “Spin The Black Circle” from ‘Vitalogy’ (1994)

By 1994, Pearl Jam, and Eddie Vedder in particular, seemed focused on establishing their punk rock cred. This jam, influenced by underground punk, is a hard driving ode to vinyl. Stone Gossard wrote the music and it was intended to be a bit slower, but he sped it up at Vedder’s request.

39. “Garden” from ‘Ten – Redux’ (1991/2009)

A Stone Gossard/Jeff Ament composition, it features some of Eddie Vedder’s most vague lyrics, but ‘I don't question/Our existence/I just question/Our modern needs,’ was an early example of him railing against trendiness.

38. “Last Kiss” Christmas single (1998)

Pearl Jam’s most surprising radio hit: it’s a cover of a song originally released by Wayne Cochran in 1961.That version didn’t climb the charts, but a few years later when J. Frank Wilson and the Cavaliers covered it, it was a hit. Decades later, Pearl Jam recorded it for their Christmas single in 1998, and it ended up becoming one of their biggest hits.

37. “Yellow Ledbetter” B-side (1991)

This is Pearl Jam’s second most surprising radio hit. During the ‘Ten’ era, they were so popular that fans and radio programmers were desperate for new music. This song started getting requested on the radio, even though it wasn’t even on the album. It’s McCready at his most Hendrixian (he co-wrote the music with Jeff Ament). Eddie Vedder’s lyrics are fluid and he often changes them in concert.

36. “W.M.A.” from ‘Vs.’ (1993)

Possibly Pearl Jam’s funkiest jam, it was composed by Jeff Ament and then-drummer Dave Abbruzzese. The lyrics were among Eddie Vedder’s most politically charged. In a legendary appearance at Jay-Z’s Made In America festival in 2012, the legendary rapper joined them for a medley of this song and his own ‘99 Problems’ (that live version was later released as one of Pearl Jam’s Christmas singles).

35. “Amongst The Waves” from ‘Backspacer’ (2009)

One of many songs where Eddie Vedder - an avid surfer - references the ocean and waves. This song seems to compare relationships to waves, and many fans have taken it to be about the band’s bond. As Vedder told the Toronto Globe and Mail: "On the strength of this album, we feel good about where the band is at. Our relationship is long-standing, but it's turned into a forthcoming relationship. We're open and honest. Things go pretty easy – we feel like a gang. We feel like a galvanized group of individuals. As far as waves, I think we're up there."

34. “Come Back” from ‘Pearl Jam’ (2006)

An Eddie Vedder/Mike McCready co-write, it’s the closest Pearl Jam has come to doing a classic soul song. Vedder has said that it’s about the same character he wrote about in ‘Man Of The Hour’ from 2003’s ‘Big Fish’ soundtrack.

33. “Severed Hand” from ‘Pearl Jam’ (2006)

Eddie Vedder started writing this on the same night that he wrote ‘I Am Mine,’ the first song he penned after the Roskilde Festival tragedy where nine fans lost their lives at a Pearl Jam performance. Stone Gossard told Billboard, ‘That song is pretty intense in terms of the perspective of someone who says, 'F*** it. I'm going to go lose my mind. That's how I want to live right now.’

32. “The Fixer” from ‘Backspacer’ (2009)

Matt Cameron co-wrote the music with Mike McCready and Stone Gossard, and Eddie Vedder wrote the lyrics, which have a Joe Strummer-ish sense of defiance: “If something’s old, I wanna put a bit of shine on it/When somethings gone, I wanna fight to get it back again.”

31. “Man Of The Hour” from ‘Big Fish’ (2003)

Pearl Jam wasn’t the obvious choice to collaborate with film director and goth favorite Tim Burton. But Eddie Vedder saw a screening of the earnest ‘Big Fish’ and turned around the song a day later. It turned out to be the perfect fit (and if you haven’t seen the film, check it out!)

30. “Superblood Wolfmoon” from ‘Gigaton’ (2020)

It’s not as surprisingly different as ‘Dance Of The Clairvoyants,’ but it does have more of a new wave influence than most Pearl Jam songs and shows that, even after being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Pearl Jam is trying new things.

29. “Wash” B-side (1991)

Pearl Jam had so many great songs for ‘Ten’ that even the outtakes were better than most band’s best songs. “Wash” might have gotten more attention, but “Yellow Ledbetter” was the biggest hit of the ‘Ten’ era B-sides. Still, the slow-burn rocker has made Pearl Jam’s setlist nearly 100 times over the years.

28. “Present Tense” from ‘No Code’ (1996)

Like many songs of this era, the lyrics saw Eddie Vedder coming to terms with Pearl Jam’s fame. Ironically, as ‘No Code’ was released, their popularity was shrinking as times and tastes were changing. The music, composed by Mike McCready, seemed to demonstrate that you can get through tumultuous times: it starts out slow, gets a bit frantic, and then slows down again.

27. “Sirens” from ‘Lightning Bolt’ (2013)

Mike McCready wrote the music, it’s one of his most accessible songs. Eddie Vedder’s platinive vocals make this one of Pearl Jam’s best ballads.

26. “I Am Mine” from ‘Riot Act’ (2002)

The first song that Eddie Vedder wrote after the Roskilde Festival tragedy where nine fans lost their lives at a Pearl Jam performance. At a show at Madison Square Garden in 2003, Vedder introduced the song thusly: ‘This song’s about personal safety, and the feeling of being secure, and even free.’

25. “Jeremy” from ‘Ten – Redux’ (1991/2009)

Co-written by Jeff Ament (music) and Eddie Vedder (lyrics), “Jeremy” was a disturbing song that was based on two stories: one, from a newspaper article about a 15 year old boy named Jeremy Wade Delle from Richardson, Texas who shot himself in front of his teacher and his English class. The other from Vedder’s junior high school classmate who fired a gun in a classroom. Weirdly, this was the song that brought Pearl Jam to MTV and mainstream fame, but it showed that they didn’t flinch when looking at dark subjects.

24. “Long Road” from ‘Merkin Ball’ (1995)

The second song from Pearl Jam’s 1995 EP “Merkin Ball,’ the companion piece to the Neil Young/Pearl Jam album ‘Mirror Ball.’ The Vedder composition is a tribute to loved ones we’ve lost. This recording features Vedder singing and playing guitar, Neil Young on organ and backing vocals, Jeff Ament on bass and then-new-drummer Jack Irons. Vedder recorded another version with Pakistani Qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan for the 1996 ‘Dead Man Walking’ soundtrack. Perhaps the best version, though, was the one that featured Vedder, Young and Mike McCready on the post-9/11 “Tribute To Heroes” televised concert special.

23. “Just Breathe” from ‘Backspacer’ (2009)

One of Pearl Jam’s best ballads. Written by Eddie Vedder, it’s been covered by Willie Nelson, and it’s one of the few post-2000 songs that makes his sets. It’s also been covered by Jennifer Warnes (yes, the one who sang ‘I’ve Had The Time Of My Life’ from ’Dirty Dancing,’ and who duetted with Joe Cocker on ‘Up Where We Belong’.)

22. “Thin Air” from ‘Binaural’ (2000)

Another one of Pearl Jam’s loveliest ballads. Written entirely by Stone Gossard (including the lyrics) it’s also one of their few openly romantic songs. It’s also one of the few songs that we can think of with the word ‘byzantine’ in the lyrics!

21. “Nothing As It Seems” from ‘Binaural’ (2000)

A moody, almost Pink Floydian song, it was written by Jeff Ament (including the lyrics). It was an odd choice to be the first radio single from ‘Binaural,’ but by 2000, Pearl Jam were definitely not looking to make things easy for themselves or their team. The song is always a concert highlight, as it allows Mike McCready to stretch out and play some wild solos.

20. “Rats” from ‘Vs.’ (1993)

One of Pearl Jam’s funkiest songs, it’s composed by Jeff Ament. The lyrics imagine a world where rats have taken over, and quotes from an early Michael Jackson ballad ‘Ben,’ from the 1972 film of the same name. It’s about a colony of rats taking over the human world. Ben is the lead rat who befriends and protects a sick young boy with heart trouble.

19. “Love Boat Captain” from ‘Riot Act’ (2002)

Co-written by Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam’s then-new collaborator, keyboardist “Boom” Gaspar, it addresses the 2000 tragedy at the Roskilde Festival in Denmark, where nine fans died. Quoting the Beatles’ “All You Need Is Love,” it’s a sad and bittersweet eulogy to “nine friends we’ll never know.”

18. “Crazy Mary” from ‘Sweet Relief’ (1993)

This has become an in-concert favorite, but many fans may not be aware that it’s a cover. At the least, when Pearl Jam released this song in 1993, between ‘Ten’ and ‘Vs.’ when their popularity was at fever peak, it’s unlikely that many of their fans knew who Victoria Williams was. A critically hailed Americana singer-songwriter, her career was taking off in 1992 when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. That led to the formation of the Sweet Relief Musicians Fund, to help musicians in need of health care. The ‘Sweet Relief’ album featured Soul Asylum, Lou Reed and Matthew Sweet, but Pearl Jam’s presence undoubtedly brought a lot of money and attention to the cause. Williams hadn’t released her own version of the song yet. That’s her on backing vocals.

17. “Dance Of The Clairvoyants” from ‘Gigaton’ (2020)

‘Gigaton’ probably won’t be Pearl Jam’s ‘Achtung Baby,” but the first single from the album was as different to anything Pearl Jam had done before as “The Fly” was to U2’s previous work. They really switched things up here: Jeff Ament is playing keyboards and guitar, and Stone Gossard plays bass; Talking Heads and Gang Of Four seem to be primary influences. Besides being a great song, it showed fans -- and the music industry -- that, over a quarter of a century into their career, Pearl Jam still has something to say and they still have surprises up their sleeves.

16. “Why Go” from ‘Ten – Redux’ (1991/2009)

Many songs from ‘Ten’ are built around monster riffs by Stone Gossard; ‘Why Go’ is built around a monster riff by Jeff Ament. Like many of Pearl Jam’s songs, the lyrics address an outsider being treated unfairly. This one appears to be a girl who has been institutionalized against her will, with the help of her parents.

15. “Footsteps” B-side (1992)

The same song, with different lyrics, was released as ‘Times Of Trouble’ on Temple Of The Dog’s album. It’s a testament to both Chris Cornell and Eddie Vedder’s talents as lyricists and singers that both versions are classics. ‘Footsteps’ is the final part of the ‘Mama/Son’ trilogy, which also features ‘Once’ and ‘Alive.’

14. “Porch” from ‘Ten – Redux’ (1991/2009)

The one song that Eddie Vedder wrote by himself for ‘Ten,’ it was one of the highlights of their live shows early on. The long instrumental break always led to -- and still leads to -- some incredible jamming. Vedder no longer ventures into the audience as he used to, but the song hasn’t lost any of its excitement.

13. “State Of Love And Trust” from ‘Ten – Redux’ (1991/2009)

This version is different than the one from the ‘Singles’ soundtrack. This version was recorded during the ‘Ten’ sessions with original drummer Dave Krusen (the ‘Singles’ version was later recorded with drummer Dave Abbruzzese). A Mike McCready/Jeff Ament composition written for ‘Singles,’ it’s one of the band’s most straight-ahead rockers.

12. “Black” from ‘Ten’ (1991)

A gorgeous ballad composed by Stone Gossard and featuring one of Eddie Vedder’s most emotional vocal performances. “I know someday you'll have a beautiful life,” he sings. “I know you'll be a star in somebody else's sky, but why can't it be mine?” Even the “doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doo-doos” are incredibly moving.

11. “Wishlist” from ‘Yield’ (1998)

Or, ‘How Eddie Vedder Learned To Relax And Deal With Success.’ On ‘Yield,’ Pearl Jam found themselves, for the first time, pretty far from not only pop culture’s zeitgeist, but also rock’s. By now, many of Vedder’s peers had quit their bands, and in some cases, started getting “real” jobs. Pearl Jam was still an arena-headlining band, and this simple and sweet song saw Eddie Vedder seeming to realize that success might not be so bad after all, as he sings, “I wish I was as fortunate as me.”

10. “Daughter” from ‘Vs.’ (1993)

Pearl Jam’s first top 40 single. It also topped the Billboard’s Album Rock and Modern Rock charts. It’s an acoustic-based jam composed by Stone Gossard, but the upbeat tone contrasted with the lyrics by Eddie Vedder, where he takes an empathetic look at young people with learning disabilities. As he told Melody Maker, “It's only in the last few years that they've actually been able to diagnose these learning disabilities that before were looked at as misbehavior; as just outright rebelliousness, but no one knew what it was. These kids, because they seemed unable or reluctant to learn, they'd end up getting the s--- beaten out of them. The song ends, you know, with this idea of the shades going down, so that the neighbors can't see what happens next. What hurts about s--- like that is that it ends up defining people's lives. They have to live with that abuse for the rest of their lives. Good, creative people are just… destroyed."

9. “Once” from ‘Ten’ (1991)

If you picked up Pearl Jam’s debut album, ‘Ten,’ on the release date, it was probably because you were a fan of Stone Gossard and Jeff Ament’s previous band, Mother Love Bone, or Stone, Jeff and Mike McCready’s supergroup Temple Of The Dog with Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell and Matt Cameron. Both of those projects had pretty slick production, as opposed to the dirty garage sound of most of the other Seattle bands. And ‘Once’ is a pretty produced jam -- the intro almost sounds like a Peter Gabriel record. But the song -- one of many on the album that is powered by Stone Gossard’s incredible riffs -- packs a hell of a wallop, which is fitting, as it’s about someone on the edge of insanity… or maybe a few steps past that point.

8. “Given To Fly” from ‘Yield’ (1998)

In their early years, Pearl Jam seemed like a classic rock band trying to prove their indie cred. Lead guitarist Mike McCready -- supposedly one of the nicest guys in the music business -- never appeared to struggle with that. So it’s no surprise that he wrote the music here, which veers very close to Led Zeppelin’s “Going To California.” And, as it turned out, it was one of their most successful songs on radio.

7. “Not For You” from ‘Vitalogy’ (1994)

One of many songs written by Eddie Vedder during the band’s early era where he struggled with their incredible popularity. On some level, though, he must have known that things would be changing -- he sings, “All that’s sacred, comes from youth.” Fortunately, though, he lived long enough to grow old(ish). But then, as now, he still clings to punk rock ideals, which is a big reason why Pearl Jam and their new music still matter.

6. “Animal” from ‘Vs.’ (1993)

In Pearl Jam’s early days, Stone Gossard cranked out incredible riffs that propelled some of the band’s greatest songs, and “Animal” is one of the best. A semi-title track to ‘Vs.,’ the album was originally going to be called ‘Five Against One,’ based on this lyric. When Pearl Jam performed this song at the 1993 MTV Video Music Awards just days before the release of ‘Vs.,’ fans knew that they were about to get another classic album; Pearl Jam was not going to be a one-off phenomenon.

5. “Alive” from ‘Ten’ (1991)

In the early ‘90s, there was a fair amount of resentment among alternative-rock purists, and fans of lesser-known Seattle bands, about Pearl Jam’s success. The smoother production of the ‘Ten’ album was partly to blame, and so was this song: a mid-tempo ballad/anthem that had a Springsteenian sense of transcendence. Eddie Vedder’s lyrics and Stone Gossard’s music gave an ambivalent generation a jam that recognized how awful the world could be, but reminded everyone that you could get through it. That wasn’t Vedder’s original intent: as he said at the band’s episode of VH1 Storytellers, ‘In the original story, a teenager is being made aware of a shocking truth that leaves him plenty confused...It was a curse: 'I'm still alive.'’ But the fans changed the way Vedder viewed the story. ‘They lifted the curse,’ he said. ‘The audience changed the meaning for me." Mike McCready’s solo at the end is one of his best.

4. “Better Man” from ‘Vitalogy’ (1994)

One of their most obvious hits (Eddie Vedder loosely based the song on the English Beat’s ‘Save It For Later’), the band actually rejected the song when it was submitted for ‘Vs.,’ according to Rolling Stone. Ah, the ‘90s - the era where the bands in the spotlight struggled with whether or not they wanted to be popular, and whether or not radio hits were ‘cool.’ We’re glad they listened to reason and finally agreed to release the song on ‘Vitalogy.’

3. “Even Flow” from ‘Ten – Redux’ (1991/2009)

‘Ten’ is filled with incredible Stone Gossard riffs, and this might be the best one. Inspired by funk acts like Parliament-Funkadelic, his playing here drives the song, while Mike McCready channels Stevie Ray Vaughan on his iconic solo. The song is about a homeless man, who might be struggling with mental illness: he sleeps ‘on a pillow made of concrete’ and ‘looks insane,’ which is understandable, as his ‘thoughts arrive like butterflies/Oh, he don't know, so he chases them away.’

2. “Rearviewmirror” from ‘Vs.’ (1993)

The bands from Pearl Jam’s generation, and particularly from their hometown, definitely had a dark and depressing vibe, even if it was packaged in anthemic rock chords. One thing that set Pearl Jam apart was a Clash-like sense that you don’t take crap lying down, you don’t accept it, and if you fight and hang in there, things might get better. “Rearviewmirror” is a great example of that: in the song Eddie Vedder sings (over a fantastic, propulsive R.E.M.-ish riff) about transcending darkness, literally leaving it in the rearview mirror.

1. “Corduroy” from ‘Vitalogy’ (1994)

Another song that saw Eddie Vedder struggling with fame. In an interview with The Onion’s AV Club, he said, “That song was based on a remake of the brown corduroy jacket that I wore. I think I got mine for 12 bucks, and it was being sold for like $650. The ultimate one as far as being co-opted was that there was a guy on TV, predictably patterned, I guess, after the way I was looking those days, with long hair and an Army T-shirt. They put this new character on a soap opera, so there was a guy, more handsome than I, parading around on ‘General Hospital.’ And the funny thing is, that guy was Ricky Martin.” Over the years, many of Pearl Jam’s peers couldn’t cope with the spotlight and imploded (or worse.) Others fell out of favor and got day jobs. We’re glad that Stone, Mike, Jeff, Matt, and Eddie figured it out: they never broke up, and they’re still headlining stadiums and arenas today. “Corduroy” remains their most powerful anthem; it’s about living life on your own terms and not being for sale. It could be the band’s theme song, it certainly seems to have been their mantra for three decades.

Upcoming Album

Guitarist Mike McCready shared insights into the album, describing it as “a lot heavier than you’d expect”. Fans can anticipate the signature melody and energy reminiscent of the band’s early records, promising a captivating musical journey.

The tour dates feature an impressive lineup of performances, including appearances at notable festivals like BottleRock Festival in Napa Valley and Mad Cool Festival in Madrid. The band’s return to familiar venues like Wrigley Field in Chicago and Madison Square Garden in New York City further underscores their enduring appeal and widespread acclaim.

With the release of Dark Matter and the announcement of their global tour, Pearl Jam continues to captivate audiences with their unparalleled sound and unwavering passion for music. Pearl Jam is a five-piece American rock band from Seattle, Washington. Formed in 1990, the band originally had four members and championed the Seattle sound of grunge and alternative rock. Pearl Jam is considered one of the biggest names in music from the 1990s, especially in the grunge music scene.

In addition to shunning media attention, the band is known for its social activism and outspoken political views. Most notably, the band members were vocally opposed to the 43rd president of the U.S., George W. Bush.

The band is comparable to other grunge bands of the era, with a slightly lighter overall tone more reminiscent of classic rock. Lead singer Eddie Vedder’s distinctive gravelly vocals also set the band apart from many others of the time in terms of sound.

The band has drawn comparisons to The Doors, Nirvana, and The Ramones, and Vedder’s vocals have been compared many times to the iconic Jim Morrison. Vedder cites The Who, Neil Young, and Led Zeppelin as major musical influences on the band.

Pearl Jam still remains iconic in the ’90’s grunge rock scene, with its 1991 debut album, “Ten,” now certified 13 times platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The band has remained successful even without the ’90’s grunge backdrop to support them, and since early comparisons to Nirvana, Pearl Jam can now be likened to the Foo Fighters, Radiohead, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Pearl Jam is infamous or famous (depending on whose side you’re on) for pushing back against music industry traditions and the mainstream since the band’s inception. For instance, its members refused to make music videos to promote albums and never gave interviews; the little media engagement they were involved in was regarding a boycott of ticketing giant Ticketmaster in 1994.

Thanks to its unconventional approach to fame and its dedication to lengthy and sprawling tours, Pearl Jam has cultivated an enormous fan following, with some of the more ardent fans being compared to the notoriously dedicated fanbase of the Grateful Dead. To date, the band has released 11 critically-acclaimed and commercially successful albums.

Born out of the band Mother Love Bone after its vocalist Andrew Wood died, the band includes vocalist and frontman Eddie Vedder, guitarists Stone Gossard and Mike McCready, and bassist Jeff Ament. The drummer for the band has changed no less than five times, but Matt Cameron (formerly of Soundgarden) has filled the seat since 1998.

Pearl Jam exploded onto the music scene in 1991 with its first album, Ten. The debut album was a huge success and spent an impressive five years on the Billboard Top 200 chart, becoming one of the highest-grossing rock albums of all time. Following the album’s release, the band launched a massive tour to promote it.

The release of its second album, Vs., in 1993 was even more successful. During its first week on the market, the album sold so many copies it set a record for the most copies sold in a single week. Total record sales for that week landed at 950,000.

In 1994, news broke that Ticketmaster was gouging Pearl Jam’s concert goers with excessive service charges. Outraged, Vedder and his bandmates organized an informal boycott of Ticketmaster events. Wanting to connect with their fans more directly and avoid them paying fees to the “outright [greedy]” concert industry, Pearl Jam canceled its 1994 summer tour. It even lodged a formal complaint with the Justice Department claiming that Ticketmaster was an illegal monopoly.

On the heels of the unprecedented success of Vs., the band returned to the studio to produce its third album, Vitalogy. The album initially dropped in November 1994 on vinyl before its official CD release in December. After the CD release, the album became the second-fastest-selling rock record in history, with an astonishing 877,000 copies sold during the first week.

Later that year after the release of its third album, Vitalogy, the band conducted its own tour, playing exclusively non-Ticketmaster venues. It often had to play at very unconventional venues as a result, and their tour crew took practically an entire venue’s worth of equipment and staging everywhere they went.

Despite Pearl Jam’s best efforts in the fight against Ticketmaster, in 1995, the Justice Department in America ceased to investigate the company. The band was left defeated after being “stomped on by a huge corporate entity.” While the loss frustrated the band members, it didn’t slow their production.

In 1996, the next album, No Code, was released. The album is the most unique in terms of sound and is an intentional departure from the band's original sound. The band’s next studio album, Yield, was released in February 1998 and marked its return to its signature sound.

Over the next decade, the band created more highly successful music, securing its position as one of the most successful bands in U.S. music history and becoming a household name by the end of the 1990s. The group created several more albums, experimenting slightly with different musical influences but remaining true to its signature rock sound that made it famous at the onset of its musical career.

The group's extreme popularity diminished some during the early 2000s. In May 2000, the group released its sixth studio album titled Binaural. The album, while still successful, was less of a commercial success than its predecessors. A massive summer tour followed the release of, Binaural. Unfortunately, the tour ended tragically when nine fans were crushed to death when the crowd rushed the stage at the Roskilde Festival while Pearl Jam performed.

The seventh album, Riot Act, dropped in November 2002 to good reviews, but was followed by a lengthy hiatus. The band released its next album, the self-titled Pearl Jam, in May 2006. Backspacer, the group’s ninth album, came next in 2007. Throughout 2009 and 2010, Pearl Jam promoted Backspacer with tours across North America and Europe. Fans had to wait a few years for the tenth album, Lightning Bolt, which came out in 2013.

In 2017, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. By 2018, Pearl Jam was one of the best-selling bands of all time. It boasted nearly 85 million album sales worldwide, with 32 million in the U.S. alone.

Its eleventh and most recent studio album, Gigaton, dropped in 2020.

The band continues to tour and is known as one of the best arena acts of all time. In May 2022, the band announced the forthcoming release of new material. Check out its official website to stay up to date on upcoming Pearl Jam tour dates, tickets, and more.

Live reviews

Cornell & Kurt & Layne & Lanegan are all sadly no longer with us. And of course Pearl Jam themselves eventuated after the tragic passing of Andy Wood. I had never seen Pearl Jam live before, being only a very casual fan of the band, but I made the trek to the 2024 Manchester show largely to pay my respects to one of the last major forces from that beautiful era of music that does mean a lot personally.

I remember Ten and Vs. quite well. I sort of recall Vitalogy… but then it gets a bit hazy... Arriving early, I was surprised to able to stroll almost right to the very front and then observe the sizeable arena fill up behind me.

I thought they would put on a good show but this was unbelievable. ‘Of the girl’ was a cool and interesting opener and ‘Why go’ really got the fans excited. To my left a 50 year old man was crowd surfing. The sound of the band was crisp and powerful and Mike McCready’s guitar solos were blistering.

Eddie was apologetic that he had picked up a throat issue in Ireland and was on medication, but anything his voice lacked on the night, he more than made up for with humour, kindness and consideration to the crowd. He finished one tune abruptly to check on the safety, and to pour a beverage for an unfortunate soul who had been partially crushed in the revelry.

The band progressed through an excellent set. At one point during ‘State of love and trust’ I found myself just metres from Vedder himself as he warmly greeted fans on our side of the stage. Much of the more recent material that was new to me, I will certainly check out again as everything sounded great and complimented nicely classics like ‘Even Flow,’ Alive’, ‘Daughter’ and ‘Black’.

Massive credit to Pearl Jam on such a brilliant, memorable and slightly emotional show from this ‘90s teen.

If you haven't heard of Pearl Jam, they were one of the biggest bands of the 90s and are still wildly popular today. One of the key players in the grunge movement, Pearl Jam features the strong voice of Eddie Vedder. Pearl Jam put on a great show that has the audience on their feet from the opening number until the last encore – they can even drive this middle-aged dad to mosh from time to time!

Pearl Jam perform for almost three hours a night and usually don't have an opening act, so they definitely give the fans their money's worth. These days, Pearl Jam mostly play larger venues and stadium shows, but their performance doesn't need to be masked by special effects, background musicians, and fancy dance routines. They play good honest music with soulful vocals for an eclectic crowd of all ages from fifty-year old soccer moms to teens dressed in black. Intertwined with the music are some lyrics and/or monologues espousing liberal political causes, but I imagine that even a diehard conservative would forgive them once the band got back to the music!

They generally play a mix of fan favorites and b-side songs with some really interesting covers (like "You've Got to Hide Your Love Away" by The Beatles, or maybe some Neil Young) added to the mix. The set list can vary quite a bit from date to date, which is good news for anyone planning to attend multiple shows.

This was my 18th Pearl Jam show and it was one of the best!!

Detroit is an amazing place to spend a day or two. Despite everything you hear in the media I felt safe and the people were all super nice. We went to a local bar and met lots of cool people from all over who were attending the Wishlist Foundation pre-party.

This is a charity run by Pearl Jam fans who throw a party before each concert, worldwide. Great vibe and you get to support a number of great causes. I won 3 raffle prizes!! We make our way to the show and even though our seats were int he 200's it did not matter, there was not a bad seat in the place. Much smaller than Toronto, which is nice.

Pearl Jam seems to be in the best place as a band they have ever been in! You can see how happy they all are from the nosebleeds. Always smiling and interacting and joking around.

The set-list was INSANE. It was one of the best I have ever seen and the best on the tour by far......until they went and played "No Code and Yield in their entirety a couple days later.

It was a great show, they are this generations Grateful Dead, every show is different and worth seeing and the vibe and fans and relationship we all have is what makes it special.

I hope you all get to experience it once.

I must admit I hadn't seen Pearl Jam for a few years. I grew up with them, they shaped me. They got me through some bad times and were there for the good times too. But I still didn't know what to expect because, hey, they're a bit older now aren't they? What I didn't expect was to be blown away. Certainly not to the extremes that I was.

Put quite simply that was the best gig I have ever been to. Ever. Without doubt.

34 songs and 3 1/4 hours of pure passion, feeling, emotion and energy. I don't know who enjoyed it more - the crowd or Pearl Jam themselves. It was so clear that they didn't want to leave the stage and we'd all still be there now if Eddie Vedder could have had his way.

The man is a God. Always has been. Always will be. But last night Mike McCready was sublime. Effortless perfection. Simply stunning.

The day after a gig is always a test for me. If I wake up thinking about the gig the gig was good. But today I've been unable to concentrate on anything else. I don't know how I coped before YouTube but it's been my saviour today.

Kids haven't heard of Pearl Jam. They don't know who they are, they don't know what they are. My kids however do. Pearl Jam is in my DNA.

Great show from Pearl Jam last night. 34 songs and almost 3hour non-stop! The sound in Telenor arena is usually average and sometimes poor. This time the sound were overall pretty good. Vocals were actually quite good.

The band entered the stage at 20:15 (they were supposed to enter 20:00), but no big deal. The concert ended 23:10, so almost 3hours of great rock n roll! :) The setlist was a bit different from last time I saw Pearl Jam in Oslo, 2012. Still missing some of my personal favorites: Better man, Black, I am mine, Nothingman, The Fixer. Some of them were playted in 2012, so no big deal.

Fantastic that they played Garden! A girl on front row had been in 22 shows and never heard it. She had a poster with that written on it. PJ actually played it for her, and she cried her happy tears. Magical moment.

Eddie Vedder is music, his presence is unique. Probably the best concert ever in Telenor arena, Oslo. It's difficult to get a good atmosphere and it is hated as a venue amongst musiclovers. It is not built for concerts. Today I forgot that the concert was in Telenor arena, it was a great atmosphere.

Amazing show in Rio de Janeiro @ Maracanã on November 22th 2015.

Perfect vocals from mr. Vedder, the band was very tight with lenghty solos from mr. McReady and a furious and visceral drumming from Mr. Cameron.

This is a great band, definitely worth seeing live. Mixing old classics and a couple of songs from recent releases, the band never ceases to amaze, in my humble opinion. This was my second time seeing PJ live (the first was on their limited tour in 2013 while they were amidst "Lightning Bolt" recording schedule). The band consider their fans as a "large family" as mentioned by mr. Vedder himself last night, and the gig definitely has a "gathering" vibe, specially if you go with your old pals from school, like it was my case.

In addition, mr. Vedder invited a fan to sing the first verse from one of their songs, wore a speedo on top of his clothes throw by a fan (go figure), drank cachaça (local spirit) and made a powerful and very heartfelt tribute to one of the victims from the Paris Attacks.

4 out of 5 stars (I rated "4" since I didn't knew the words from many of their songs).

The bar has just been raised to a new, and I feel unmatchable height in live music!! Pearl Jam were beyond amazing, a truly emotional near 3 and a half hour set which had me in tears of happiness, smiles, singing til my voice gave out! Truly the best gig I have ever been, and with the list I have behind me that's no mean feat!! Pearl Jam I salute you, you took a massive back catalogue and managed to put the perfect set, taking us up through the emotions, songs like Black beautifully pulling at heart strings, and Jeremy causing such a mass singalong that it almost drowns Eddies soul dripping vocals. It's powerful from start to epic finish, and even after nearly 3 and half hours onstage the energy being displayed is that of a band not even half their age. Simply put, after having seen nearly 1500 bands live, Pearl Jam just put each and every one in their place. Epic, breathtaking, words that still can't cover it!!

I've seen Pearl Jam 21 times since 1998 and each and every show was amazing! Of course, there are a few shows that stand out, the main one being the final show at the Spectrum in Philadelphia on Halloween night, 2009. The last show at this historical venue was one of four sold-out shows that week and the fact that it was on Halloween night made it a trifecta of live music awesomeness! They rocked the Spectrum for over 3 and half hours that night…how many other bands out there play shows that long? Many people ask, “How can you go see the same band multiple times on one tour?” Well, Pearl Jam isn’t your average band! No two shows are ever the same, so going to multiple shows is a must, or you might miss one of the rare songs…like when they played “Bugs” at that Spectrum show for the first time EVER! Pearl Jam concerts are the BEST shows…past, present and future!

Great setlist, perfect weather, fitting venue and they guys from Pearl Jam so great, energetic and charismatic as always. They seem to really love to play live for their crowd. Only negative thing was due to se fanatic Ten-Club member group (aparently US-americans, aprox. 20-25 persons) who were very hostile towarda people who approched the front rows, threatening people in group and being very disgusting while appearing to be very "devote" fans. Sasly security didn’t seem to notice or, if they did, didn’t care. That just left a bit of bitterness since it was infuriating to see how they were behaving and being aggresive and trying to intimidate people in a band‘s concert who otherwise represent the whole opposite of that group‘s behavior.

Other than that, it was an awesome, long and unforgettable show.

Tuesday 17th July. The O2, London. Pearl Jam. So here we are at the rescheduled date after the recent cancelled gig in June. I probably said most of what I wanted to say in my review from last month https://garyw66.weebly.com/blog/rockin-in-the-free-world-with-pearl-jam

All that said this time I was down on the floor this time and it certainly added to the atmosphere and you could appreciate the light show too. Making up for the cancelled gig tonight we are treated to a 33 song near three hour set, encore upon encore including some great covers from the likes of Petty, The Who and Dylan.

It’s a breathless night and tonight Pearl Jam only go to confirm that they are one of the great live rock acts around. I don’t need to say anymore. Another great night.

Pearl Jam Show Notes 5/16/2024:

Ed ramps up the intensity on the build in Sometimes, adding “…wouldn’t that be amazing if you were here, god…” before the outro. The crowd is fantastic, singing along early. Hard to Imagine is a surprise early, Jeff, Stone, and Mike getting into the slow groove. Ed puts on a guitar halfway through, making it a 4-guitar assault with Josh also helping out in the back. Mike falls to his knees during a powerful, emotive Black solo, all Ed can do it just point over at him as it winds down. Ed then asks for the lights to come up, and toasts “everybody who came from somewhere else to join us in the desert,” pointing out that this is the smallest venue of the tour leg. Hail, Hail is the first non- Yield song to be in the 4th spot, two No Code this early is great to see. Daughter breaks up the Dark Matter 1st 4 set that had been played at every previous show on the tour. Ed thanks Andrew Watt afterwards, and says the next one is “for all the dreamers…” and Wishlist follows. He adds some lines at the end:

“I’m only betting on what’s important to me

my one true love and my family

I don’t need Vegas to feel lucky…”

He then adds in a quick line about losing $500 at blackjack, and then talks about how tonight’s setlist wasn’t written before the show or this afternoon, but at 4 am a few nights ago. Breakerfall follows, the only acknowledgement of Binaural ‘s anniversary on the show date. Before the Even Flow solo, Ed exclaims “…alright, rip it up!” Upper Hand is another standout Dark Matter track so far on this run. Afterwards, Ed says the next song is about Stevie Wonder, then adds “…no, it’s about Stevie Nicks….no, it’s about Steve Gleason…or Stevie Ray Vaughan…it’s about the power of music,” leading into Waiting for Stevie, which is becoming a staple after being the last Dark Matter song to debut. After Tremor Christ, Ed says he “wants to experiment real quick” and pulls out $500 and gives it to a woman in the front row after making sure she’ll be attending the next show. He asks her to try and double it at the casinos by Saturday, “if you lose it, that’s the experiment, and if you win, we split it…” and then jokes that he took it from Stone anyway. Tonight’s projector message is:

Well Thank You Las Vegas!!!

After the break, Ed tells a story about playing a solo show at the Pearl, a benefit for EB, and a woman came up with a wad of cash and asked him to play Black. He explained that he doesn’t do that, it’s a Stone song, but then more and more people came up with money, about $3000, and he said “I gotta fuckin’ do it.” The solo cover tonight is the Pearl Jam debut of “Maybe It’s Time,” the Jason Isbell-penned song from A Star is Born . Ed changes the lyric to “I’ve seen hell in Vegas” (instead of Reno). More tour debuts as Inside Job follows. Stone and Mike trade sides of the stage during Evolution. Ed plays a little of U2’s “Bad” as an intro to Corduroy, which has a long, great call and response, the crowd was in great form all night. Breath gets a huge reaction as always. Andrew Watt comes on stage for Alive, taking over the solo and going around to each band member. Ed says “sometimes it doesn’t even feel real…very, very grateful and we love you,” and once again, Ledbetter feels like it’s closing the show but then the lights go out and Setting Sun continues its run at the end. Best show of the tour so far.

Was at concert from Philly. My first non-Philly/Camden show. Phenomenal performance from all. It’s weird, usually at a show most people don’t want to hear ‘the new record’, but with this band I couldn’t wait to hear the Dark Matter tunes. Great setlist, great fun with my wife for her first PJ show (she enjoyed it, but I don’t think she knew one tune LOL)…. I loved every minute of the show…. I also think the back video wall really works. Can’t wait for Philly.

Updated: February 13, 2024

This year, Pearl Jam are planning to be very busy. After touring sporadically in 2023, the multi-platinum rockers are returning to the road for an extensive tour around the globe. They will be touring in support of their upcoming twelfth studio album, Dark Matter . The group released the title track on Tuesday [February 13]. Produced by GRAMMY® Award winner Andrew Watt (The Rolling Stones, Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop), the record arrives on April 19 through Monkeywrench/Republic.

This spring, the band will kick off their 2024 campaign, performing across North America, Europe, Australia, and more. On May 25, Pearl Jam will be headlining BottleRock 2024 in Napa Valley, California. Other featured acts that weekend include Stevie Nicks, Maná, Queens of the Stone Age, St. Vincent, My Morning Jacket, The Offspring, All Time Low, Cold War Kids, Pete Yorn, The Record Company, Chevy Metal, and Foo Fighters’ guitarist Christ Shiflett. Included in the new batch of shows is the Ruoff Music Center in Indianapolis, which was previously postponed due to illness back in September.

Check out the complete tour itinerary below.

Very special guests for each leg of the tour will be Deep Sea Diver (first North American leg), Glen Hansard (second North American leg), The Murder Capital (UK/EU leg), Richard Ashcroft (Dublin and London shows) and Pixies (Australia and New Zealand shows).

A Ten Club members-only pre-sale will be held through Ticketmaster Request for eligible members. Only paid Ten Club members active as of Monday, February 12 are eligible to participate in this pre-sale. Fans can register for a chance to participate in the Dark Matter World Tour 2024 registration sale by Sunday, February 18 at 11:59 PM local time for Europe, UK, Australia and New Zealand shows and by Sunday, February 18 at 11:59 pm PT for North America shows. Pearl Jam

Last August, Pearl Jam set out on a  brief run  of U.S. shows. The band performed in Chicago, Austin, and more. Their Indianapolis show was postponed, and is set to be rescheduled imminently. Frontman Eddie Vedder also played two intimate solo shows on October 23 and October 24 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, in addition to his performance at Ohana Festival on September 30.

The forthcoming Dark Matter will be available on digital download, CD, and vinyl, with several variants including a Ten Club Exclusive Red Galaxy Vinyl with 24-page booklet, Indie Exclusive Crystal Vinyl with 24-page booklet, standard black vinyl, standard CD, and Deluxe CD/Blu-Ray with HD audio and Dolby Atmos Immersive Mix. All vinyl packages include one of three uniques sticker sheets with five center label tickets, plus a logo sticker. The title track will be available on a 7-inch vinyl single.

To celebrate local record shops, Pearl Jam are releasing a special edition vinyl variant on April 20, exclusively in-store at participating Record Store Day shops.

Pearl Jam released their eleventh studio album  Gigaton  in March of 2020. It was the group’s first all-new studio outing in seven years. The critically-acclaimed album hit No. 5 on the Billboard Top 200 and No. 1 on Billboard’s Rock and Alternative album charts. The band finally got out not the road to support the album in 2022.

Pearl Jam live

In 2021, Pearl Jam began working on Dark Matter at Andrew Watt’s studio in Beverly Hills. With Watt at the helm, it’s safe to say that fans can expect a heavier, more guitar-driven outing, given his previous success with acts like Ozzy Osbourne and The Rolling Stones. Pearl Jam recorded a bulk of their new record at Rick Rubin’s Shangri-La Studio in Malibu, California.

On January 31, Pearl Jam held an ultra-exclusive album reveal of Dark Matter. The event took place at the legendary Troubadour in Los Angeles, California. Band members Eddie Vedder (vocals), Mick McCready (guitar), and Jeff Ament (bass) were on hand, as well as producer Andrew Watt.

“We’re still looking for ways to communicate,” Vedder said at the event. “We’re at this time in our lives when you could do it or you could not do it, but we still care about putting something out there that is meaningful. No hyperbole – I think this is out best work.”

Bassist Jeff Ament added, “What Ed said about getting us in a room at this point, we felt like we were about to make a really important record. A lot of that had to do with the atmosphere Andrew set up. He has encyclopedic knowledge of our history, not only as a band and how we wrote songs, but as players. He could pinpoint things we did on old songs to the point where I was like,  ‘What the fuck is he talking about?’  His excitement was contagious. He’s a force. I just want to say thanks for keeping us on track. I couldn’t be prouder of us as a band. I feel so grateful for the fans, but mostly for my brothers and these people I’ve made music with.”

Pearl Jam live

Pearl Jam released a special 30th anniversary reissue of their seminal album,  Vs. , back in November. With Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, the band will commemorate three decades of the their seminal sophomore outing with releases on vinyl and cassette configurations. Pearl Jam’s own  Ten Club  featured an exclusive 2-LP Dreamsicle (translucent orange with white swirls) color variant vinyl and clear cassette. Target offersed its own 1-LP exclusive clear vinyl, an international clear vinyl, and a new black 2-LP vinyl will be available in participating retailers. Pearl Jam and Legacy Recordings also unveiled a brand new Atmos Spatial Audio Mix of the album through Apple Music alongside new visualizer videos for each track on the album.

Moving 10 million units worldwide,  Vs.  has since gone 7x Platinum in the States. Meanwhile, “Daughter” just reached RIAA Platinum status, while “Elderly Woman Behind The Counter In A Small Town” has gone Gold.

Last year also saw the 10th anniversary of Pearl Jam’s tenth full-length LP and fan favorite,  Lightning Bolt . It originally dropped on October 15, 2013 and became the group’s fifth No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200. The Brendan O’Brien-produced  Lightning Bolt  is now also available in Spatial Audio.

Our Village  will be a fun and engaging space for Montana-led nonprofit organizations to connect with one another, Pearl Jam fans, and the greater Missoula community to share their work.

Pearl Jam are currently touring in support of their twelfth album, Dark Matter, which reached number two on the UK albums chart. It has come to light that several South American music sites have been reporting that Pearl Jam will go on South American tour in March and April 2025. It is also somewhat evident that the band will perform at Lollapalooza Chile in April 2025 but it lacks confirmation.
