There are also other original songs written for the show and performed by the actors in their roles that don’t appear on Aurora ; so for anyone hoping for early Dunne Brothers deep cuts, you’re in luck. Those tracks are also the brainchild of Daisy Jones ’ chief songwriter and producer Blake Mills, who has worked with artists including Fiona Apple, Alabama Shakes, Phoebe Bridgers, The Rolling Stones, and many more. Plus, there are even a few covers sprinkled throughout the series, with the Dunnes and Simone Jackson putting their own spin on tunes from the era.

“Very early on, we said that we wanted to showcase ’70s music, so we have our band and all their original songs, but then everywhere around them, the music of the time is just unbelievable, right?” Scott Neustadter, Daisy Jones co-showrunner and executive producer, tells ELLE.com.

“Stevie Wonder is doing this thing, and then you have Marvin Gaye is doing this thing and Curtis Mayfield is doing this thing, and then you have this unbelievable punk rock is coming and disco is happening and it’s just an explosion of music.”

Surprisingly, even though the story is heavily influenced by Fleetwood Mac , the band’s music doesn’t appear in the series—until episode 9.

“The one thing that we all agreed on was that Fleetwood Mac does not exist in our world. There’s no Fleetwood,” Neustadter says with a laugh. “We can’t do it. It’s too close and you’d get taken out of it and we shouldn’t do it.” But when their editor opened episode 9 with “Gold Dust Woman,” “it had such power, it was so amazing,” Neustadter recalls. They still tried to convince themselves not to use the song, but “ultimately we were like, ‘It’s just perfect.’”

It’s unclear how the members of Fleetwood Mac feel about Daisy Jones & The Six , but at least they did approve the usage of their song in the series. “And now I’m very curious if anyone in Fleetwood Mac ever watches our show, what they think about it,” Neustadter says. Same here.

And if you were curious about the show’s main title theme song, that’s “Dancing Barefoot” by Patti Smith.

Benedict Cumberbatch Pushed ‘Eric’ Into The Netflix Top 10 — But His “Mean Genius” Schtick Is Starting To Lose Its Luster

Will there be an ‘under the bridge’ season 2 the showrunners aren’t sure: “we all got very attached”, ‘under the bridge’ ending explained: where is kelly ellard today and did she go to jail, new movies on streaming: ‘godzilla x kong: the new empire,’ ‘challengers,’ + more.

There’s only one more sleep until we get to see how the Daisy Jones & the Six saga concludes, when the final two episodes premiere on Friday, March 24 on Prime Video . If you’ve had the fictional band’s soundtrack on repeat for the last few weeks, but are looking to dive into more of the classic ’70s tunes sprinkled throughout the series, we have you covered!

Based on the book of the same name by Taylor Jenkins Reid, Daisy Jones & the Six stars Riley Keough as the titular character — who joins a rock band led by Billy Dunne ( Sam Claflin ) in the late 1970s. Loosely inspired by Fleetwood Mac, the 10-episode series follows the band’s rise to fame and their eventual split.

Obviously, a show based on music is bound to have a pretty rockin’ playlist. If you can’t get enough of the series’ musical catalog, which features icons from Elton John to Carole King , then look no further.

The show released a full album, Aurora, to accompany the series which was recorded by the cast , which includes Riley Keough as Daisy Jones, Sam Claflin as Billy Dunne and Suki Waterhouse as Karen Sirko.

On the announcement of Aurora, Reid said in a statement: "We finally have Aurora . A stunning, nostalgic, timeless album that captures the drama, pathos, and yearning of the band’s zenith and nadir all in one.

"A snapshot of time, intoxicating and dangerous. That delicious moment that you know can’t last… Daisy Jones & The Six are real. And they are better than my wildest dreams."

Discussing the production of Aurora, Mills said: “Creating the library of music for Daisy Jones & The Six was an experience I’ll never forget. I am grateful that, among other things, it afforded me an opportunity to collaborate with so many of my peers, and also some of my heroes.”

Scott Neustadter, co-writer and executive producer, also shared in a statement: "Aurora represents the pinnacle of a short-lived recording career. It also serves as proof – for both the fictional band and the real one who dreamed this up together – that pouring your heart and soul into something you believe in can have a profound effect on the rest of your life."

Most interestingly, the series doesn't include a Daisy Jones & The Six original song for the title sequence. Instead, Patti Smith's Dancing Barefoot is a nod to the iconic songs that punctuated the '70s and is played at the start of every episode.

All The Songs In Daisy Jones & The Six (So Far)

Patti Smith's moody 1979 song “Dancing Barefoot” opens each episode.

Now that the series has finally arrived, here's a look at all of the songs in 'Daisy Jones & The Six...

Taylor Jenkins Reid’s Daisy Jones & The Six has finally made the leap from page to screen, and with it comes the actualization of the titular band’s most impactful album: Aurora. (It’s basically their Rumours .) Reid actually included lyrics for the fictional band’s song in her 2019 novel — but as she told Rolling Stone, she’s “not a musician,” per se.

“I hear something in my head, but it’s not anything that anyone could make into a song,” she continued. “So the idea that people are going to create this album is incredibly exciting to me.”

Those people, it turns out, include a handful of popular, real-world musicians. According to the outlet, writer and producer Blake Mills assembled the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Madison Cunningham, Marcus Mumford, Jackson Browne, and others to bring Aurora to life.

Of course, not all of the songs in Daisy Jones & The Six are penned and performed by the titular band — though those are obviously the highlight. The show also features covers and non-diegetic tunes from the time period to set the rock-and-roll backdrop against which Daisy, Billy, and their bandmates live their lives.

Here’s a full list of every song featured on the show so far.

The Daisy Jones & The Six Theme Song

First, there’s one song that appears in every episode: “Dancing Barefoot” by Patti Smith. The lyrics liken love and addiction and include some very Daisy Jones-esque imagery (“I’m dancing barefoot / Heading for a spin / Some strange music draws me in”), so it’s not too surprising that the tune serves as the show’s theme song.
