Recently renovated, the sleek and modern new design of the Cape Liberty cruise terminal makes check-in and embarkation for cruises out of New Jersey as smooth and enjoyable as possible. The Cape Liberty Cruise Port is conveniently located in close proximity to Newark Airport and is less than an hour’s drive from New York City.

Top Sights & Attractions for Cruises Leaving from New Jersey

Statue of liberty.

Many of the best photographs, postcards, and video footage of the Statue of Liberty were taken from the incomparable vantage point of Cape Liberty. A gift from France to the United States as a gesture of friendship and amicable relations, the Statue of Liberty was unveiled in October 1886. For American citizens, immigrants, and visitors alike, the raised torch of the Statue of Liberty towering 305 feet above the New York Harbor now symbolizes freedom and goodwill to all who arrive on American shores. Immigrants making the long, treacherous voyage across the ocean to the U.S. were greeted by Lady Liberty welcoming them to their new home.

Downtown Manhattan

If you can, take a few extra days before or after your cruise from NJ to spend time in nearby New York City. Manhattan, the heart of NYC, is home to some of the most famous sights and attractions in the world. Spend a night on Broadway and watch your favorite musical. Stroll under the neon lights of Times Square among thousands of New Yorkers and tourists alike. Read a book in the green grass of Central Park and stand under the Empire State Building to understand its unparalleled vastness. Visit the myriad of museums, restaurants, libraries, famous movie filming sites, and architectural wonders in this amazing city.

Home of Alexander Hamilton

On a cruise from NJ, don’t miss a visit to the home of Alexander Hamilton in Manhattan, The Grange at 141st Street. Born in 1755 on the Caribbean island of Nevis, Hamilton came to New York at the age of 18, became a hero of the Revolutionary War, and went on to become a congressman, a prominent lawyer, and the first Secretary of the Treasury.

Learn More About Cape Liberty Shore Excursions

Where can i eat near the cape liberty cruise port.

Although there are no restaurants near the port, the nearby city of Newark has every restaurant and type of food imaginable. Additionally, there is a food truck with coffee, bagels, and other delicious bites outside the entrance of the cruise terminal, which is convenient for those departing on cruises from New Jersey.

What’s the culture & history of the Cape Liberty cruise port?

Conveniently located in Lower New York Harbor, the Cape Liberty Cruise Port was originally created by private developers in 1930 who intended it for industrial use. However, the ideal location and sheer size of the port made it an ideal candidate for use by the U.S. Navy in WWII. The peninsula upon which the port sits off the eastern end of Bayonne Bay is man-made. In 2003, the BLRA and Royal Caribbean International announced their agreement to turn the 430-acre port into a cruise terminal, and in 2013 Royal Caribbean International built a brand new, sleek, and innovative cruise terminal featuring LED lighting and modern design.

Where can I go shopping near the port?

Since the cruise port sits on a peninsula off the mainland, there are no shopping options in proximity to the port, besides a kiosk with basic essentials in the cruise terminal. About a 20-minute drive from the port, guests can find TJ Maxx and Walmart for last-minute cruise essentials.

How can I get around New Jersey?

While public transportation is available to bring you to a drop-off point outside the Cape Liberty cruise terminal, Port Authority prohibits any guests to arrive at the port in any transportation other than a motor vehicle. Pedestrians are also prohibited from entering the restricted port area, so walking from the bus drop-off station is not an option. Therefore, you’re required to acquire a taxi or other car service for the remainder of the way to the terminal (about a $10 taxi fare). Taxis, Uber/Lyft drivers, and private car services all have access to the restricted areas of the port as well.

What are the local currency and tipping customs?

The official currency in Cape Liberty is the US dollar (USD). Major credit cards are widely used and accepted, and ATMs are readily available throughout the city and port. Most prices displayed on merchandise and food do not yet include gratuities or taxes. Tipping is not mandatory but is generally considered to be proper and appropriate etiquette for services rendered.

The 2015-built Anthem of the Seas cruise ship is the 2nd Quantum-class Royal Caribbean liner, with sisterships Quantum OTS (2014) and Ovation OTS (2016). Similarly designed are the "Quantum Ultra-Class" Spectrum OTS  (2019) and Odyssey OTS (2020).

The vessel (IMO number 9656101) is currently Bahamas- flagged (MMSI 311000274) and registered in Nassau .

History - construction and ownership

Royal Caribbean International (RCI) is a US company, trademarked brand and subsidiary owned by Royal Caribbean Group (RCG/shipowner). RCI was established in 1968 and currently has over 1/5 of the worldwide cruise market. RCI also has RCG's largest fleet by both vessel number and GT tonnage (ship sizes and capacities).

All RCI liners have names ending with "of the Seas".

Royal Caribbean Quantum-class ships - NorthStar

The 5000-passenger ship Anthem OTS is a Quantum-Class vessel which by size is a significantly decreased (168000 GT-tons) version of RCI's Oasis-Class (225300 GT). However, with the new class RCI introduced several facilities and amenities (later implemented fleetwide) that made the brand more popular than ever.

Wheelchair-accessible cabins are 22.

The boat has 16 decks , of which 15 are passenger-accessible and 9 with cabins.

Following the Coronavirus crisis, in late-March 2021 Royal Caribbean scheduled for Anthem OTS a summer season in the UK with 4-night cruises-to-nowhere (beginning July 7/first-time for RCI) and 5- to 8-night "British Isles" itineraries (beginning July 15) roundtrip from Southampton. The mini-cruises are without call ports, while the longer voyages visit the popular UK ports Liverpool , Kirkwall (Orkney Island, Scotland) , Belfast (Ireland) . Bookings opened on April 7, but for UK residents only

In May 2023, RCI announced that Anthem OTS will be deployed in Asia and homeported in Singapore in 2024-2025 (November through March) replacing Spectrum OTS (Singapore-homeported since 2020). Spectrum will be redeployed to China and homeported in Shanghai and Hong Kong .

Anthem OTS's Singapore itineraries are 3-4-5-night roundtrips visiting Malaysia (Penang) and Thailand (Phuket). Another new itinerary is the 10-night "Vietnam and Thailand" voyage that visits Vietnam's ports Nha Trang , Phu My-Saigon , and Chan May-Da Nang , and Thailand's port Laem Chabang-Bangkok (overnight stay).

In winter 2025-2026 (November through April) Anthem OTS will be deployed in Australia (inaugural season) and homeported in Sydney NSW . RCI's Australian fleet also includes Voyager of the Seas  (homeported in  Brisbane QLD ). Anthem OTS had scheduled 24 voyages with lengths from 3- to 18 nights.

Anthem of the Seas Wiki

Anthem is RCI's second Quantum-class vessel, with sisterships  Quantum of the Seas (2014) and Ovation of the Seas  (2016). On February 11, 2011, the vessel's order (coded Project Sunshine) was announced by the shipowner Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd (RCCL). The liner represents a new passenger ship class of all three units, the first of which (Quantum) was delivered in October 2014, and the third (Ovation) in April 2016. On February 29, 2012, RCCL announced Anthem's order. On January 31, 2013, the new ship class was officially named “Quantum Class”. On this day were also officially announced the names of the first two vessels – Quantum and Anthem.

Anthem of the Seas cruise ship construction

On February 10, 2014, Royal Caribbean announced that Anthem's itinerary program will feature a total of 19 European cruises (in the Mediterranean Sea) visiting the Riviera regions of Spain, France and Italy, and also the Canaries.

On February 21, 2015, the vessel was launched (floated out from drydock) at Meyer Weft shipyard. Followed outfitting and the conveyance on River Ems to the North Sea / Baltic Sea for sea trials. On April 20, 2015, was ship's christening ceremony in port Southampton, England . Ship's godmother is Emma Wilby - a UK cruise travel agent working for Thomson UK (Marella) . She was chosen via an RCI-held competition.

Anthem's "Inaugural Cruise" started on April 22, 2015. The 8-day roundtrip itinerary from Southampton visited ports in France and Spain, with feature call on  Le Havre-Paris . On April 18, started the "Pre-Inaugural" 2-day cruise to nowhere  from Southampton (roundtrip itinerary without any ports of call).

In May 2017, Philippa Charlotte Middleton (younger sister of Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge / wife of Prince William) was given her own Suite on the ship for her honeymoon with James Matthews. The couple married on May 20, 2017. Royal Caribbean specifically designed the themed "Pippa Suite" (adjacent to the ship's Royal Loft Suite (deck 9). Pipa Suite had blue plush furnishings, with lilac throws and cushions. The suite as amenities offered a sunrise yoga station, smoothie machine, golden goose ornaments, Royal Genie butler service (dedicated Principal of British Butler Institute-trained staff). The royal couple was on a Southern Caribbean itinerary roundtrip from NYC to St Lucia Island, Barbados and Antigua. After the Anthem cruise, the couple flew to St Bart's on James' private jet.

The list of the Quantum-class new features includes:

East Coast port strike looms for first time since 1977. Here's what to know.

By Kate Gibson

Edited By Alain Sherter

Updated on: September 27, 2024 / 5:13 PM EDT / CBS News

Thousands of dockworkers at every major East and Gulf coast port are girding to strike starting early next week, threatening to close trade gateways that handle about half of all goods shipped in containers in and out of the U.S.

Negotiations between the union representing dockworkers and a shipping industry group representing terminal operators and ocean carriers have been stalled for months, with both sides this week issuing conflicting statements about their willingness to bargain.

The United States Maritime Alliance (USMX) has filed an unfair labor practice with the National Labor Relations Board requesting "immediate injunctive relief — requiring the union to resume bargaining — so we can negotiate a deal," the alliance said Thursday.

The NLRB confirmed it had received the unfair labor practice charge, which is being docketed by its regional office in Newark, New Jersey. The charge will appear on the agency's website in the next few days, after which an investigation would begin.

USMX's appeal to the NLRB was derided as "another publicity stunt" by the International Longshoremen's Association (ILA). "Foreign owned companies, represented by USMX, set up shop at American ports, earn billions of dollars in revenues and profits, take those profits out of country, and fail to adequately compensate the ILA longshore workforce for their labor are engaging in a real 'unfair labor practice,'" the union said in a  statement posted Thursday.

Top Biden administration officials including Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su and Lael Brainard, director of the National Economic Council, met with USMX members on Friday, urging them to negotiate ahead of the contract expiring.

Experts say a shutdown could severely hamper the flow of goods and raise shipping costs. Any spike in such expenses could be passed on to consumers just as U.S. inflation normalizes, and even potentially hinder the Federal Reserve as it finally pivots to  lowering interest rates .

Here's what to know about the labor fight, which would be the first mass work stoppage at eastern ports in nearly half a century.

What are the key issues in the labor dispute?

The dispute involves a contract covering tens of thousands threatening to strike at ports from Massachusetts to Texas if a new labor deal with the USMX isn't reached before the current contract expires at midnight on September 30. A walkout would be the first East Coast dock strike since 1977.

A total of 14 ports involving some 25,000 workers could be affected by the strike, according to USMX: Baltimore; Boston; Charleston, South Carolina; Jacksonville, Florida; Miami; Houston; Mobile, Alabama; New Orleans; New York/New Jersey; Norfolk, Virginia; Philadelphia; Savannah, Georgia; Tampa, Florida; and Wilmington, Delaware.

But because the economic activity in ports touches a range of businesses, such as warehousing and transport, the fallout from work stoppages could put more than 100,000 employees temporarily out of work, according to economists.

Union workers at ports in the East Coast and Gulf Coast earn a base wage of $39 an hour after six years on the job. That is significantly less than their unionized West Coast peers, who make $54.85 an hour — a rate that will increase to $60.85 in 2027, excluding overtime and benefits.

Assuming a 40-hour workweek, West Coast port workers are making more than $116,000 a year, versus $81,000 for their counterparts in the East. The ILA's initial demands included a 77% wage hike over six-year contract, with the labor group arguing that the increased pay would make up for the surge in U.S. inflation in recent years.

The USMX in August offered what it called an "industry leading" pay hike, but the sides remain far apart.

"Mark my words, we'll shut them down October 1 if we don't get the kind of wages we deserve," Harold Daggett, president of the ILA, said earlier in the month.

Yet the differences are not only over pay. To protect job security, the ILA is demanding a complete ban on the automation of cranes, gates and container movements used in the loading or unloading of cargo.

The Maritime Alliance said it offered to maintain provisions in the current contract barring fully automated terminals, while also banning use of semi-automated equipment in a new labor agreement.

Unable to bridge the divide, the ILA in June suspended negotiations with USMX,  saying  the use of automated gates to let trucks enter ports without ILA labor violated its existing labor agreement.

What impact could a strike have?

The ports that could close in a strike handle more than 68% of all containerized exports in the U.S. and roughly 56% of containerized imports, according to industry data. So even a short strike would cause significant disruptions in regional trade flows.

A strike would reduce U.S. economic activity by between $4.5 billion and $7.5 billion for every week it continues, according to analysts at Oxford Economics. The investment research firm estimates it would take up to a month to clear the backlog of shipments that pile up while ports remain shut.

Although West Coast terminals could absorb some cargo diverted from eastern ports, they couldn't handle it all, nor could the U.S. rail system, experts say.

Should a strike persist longer than a month or so, some companies could face shortages of parts and other inputs. Much of the raw materials that go into a range of products flow through the East and Gulf Coast ports, such as cotton, wood and copper. The auto and pharmaceutical industries, which maintain lean inventories, could be affected, while port shutdowns in Miami and Norfolk could affect tobacco companies.

In addition, a strike could hamper shipments of products such as bananas, manufacturing components and plywood, interrupting the flow both of consumer goods and industrial parts for factories. Fresh meat and other refrigerated food could spoil, resulting in shortages and increased prices.

"I think everyone's a bit nervous about it," said Mia Ginter, director of North America ocean shipping for C.H. Robinson, a logistics company. "The rhetoric this time with the ILA is at a level we haven't seen before."

The labor dispute also comes at a time when the Federal Reserve is closely monitoring the labor market for signs of weakening.

"In principle, the Fed should look through any temporary weakness, but it might be difficult to separate the noise from the signal. Therefore, the strike would increase the odds of another 50 basis point cut in November," Grace Zwemmer, associate U.S. economist, Oxford Economics, wrote in a Thursday research note.

How are companies preparing?

By contrast, consumers probably wouldn't notice shortages of store goods during the holiday shopping season, as most products are already housed in warehouses after being transported ahead.

Jonathan Chappel, senior managing director of transportation at Evercore ISI, an investment research firm, said a strike would not mean "Santa's not showing up."

Imports to U.S. ports are running 10% ahead of where they were last year, indicating that some cargo had been shipped in expectations of a strike, according to Ben Nolan, a transportation analyst at investment bank Stifel.

"Many retailers have already taken steps to mitigate the potential impact of a strike by bringing in products earlier or shifting products to the West Coast," said Jonathan Gold, vice president of supply chain and customs policy at the National Retail Federation.

Still, given the complexity and interconnectedness of global supply chains, "Even a minor disruption would have a negative impact and cause delays at a critical time for both retailers and consumers," he added.

The ILA on Wednesday said its members would continue to handle all military cargo in the event of a strike, and would also continue to work passenger cruise vessels so as not to inconvenience "the tens of thousands of Americans who have booked trips in advance."

Could there be a political solution?

If a strike were deemed to threaten national health or safety, under the  Taft-Hartley Act President Joe Biden could seek a court order for an 80-day cooling-off period.

Although a Biden administration official tells CBS News that the U.S. Labor Department is monitoring the situation and has been in touch with the sides, there are currently no plans to get involved in the talks.

"We've never invoked Taft-Hartley to break a strike and are not considering doing so now," the White House told CBS News.

By contrast, the Biden administration has in recent years intervened to resolve potentially disruptive labor disputes.

In 2022, Mr. Biden and Congress stepped in to prevent a railroad strike, with the president signing legislation crafted by lawmakers to impose a tentative deal on dozens of unions representing 115,000 workers. And in 2023, Acting Labor Secretary Julie Su played a key role in brokering a deal to avert a strike and broker a new labor deal for West Coast dockworkers .

The union's leverage is also stronger ahead of the presidential election as candidates vie for the labor vote, and with visions of clogged ports and product shortages during the pandemic still in voters' minds.

"If ever there was a time that labor can get what they want," Stifel's Nolan said, "it's right now."

Some observers think that when push comes to shove, Mr. Biden would act to prevent the walkout.

It's unlikely that the U.S. government would intervene as promptly as Canada did in a labor dispute that shut down the country's rail traffic last month, when the Canadian government ordered railroads to enter binding arbitration less than a day in, noted Zwemmer at Oxford Economics.

"However, if the strike lasts for several weeks, the odds of government involvement in the negotiations will rise, especially with the presidential election rapidly approaching," the economist stated.

"The potential strike at East and Gulf Coast ports is unlikely to trigger any major economic disruption because we strongly suspect that, this close to the election and despite denials ahead of time, President Biden would have little choice but to step in and invoke back-to-work legislation," analysts at Capital Economics wrote.

Thousands of Disney Cruise Passengers Kept on Ships Due To Dangerous Circumstances

A large cruise ship is anchored near a tropical island with clear blue waters. The island features a beach lined with lounge chairs, umbrellas, palm trees, and small huts. The sky is bright and sunny, creating a vibrant, inviting scenery.

Disney has updated its itinerary for thousands of cruise ship passengers.

A joyful man embraces two smiling children, one girl and one boy, in front of a vibrantly colored structure featuring the iconic Mickey Mouse logo. The backdrop includes bright red and blue elements, suggesting a fun, themed setting.

The Disney Wonder, one of The Walt Disney Company’s many cruise ships, has canceled an upcoming planned trip to Nouméa, New Caledonia, due to civil unrest, according to The Street .

The Wonder is set to depart Honolulu, Hawaii, on October 3 and head toward Sydney, Australia, for its second set of South Pacific sailings. The Wonder was scheduled to stop at Nouméa on October 15 before arriving in Sydney on the 19, but this itinerary has been updated, with October 15 now being a sea day.

Nouméa is currently facing civil unrest surrounding the anniversary of France’s takeover, prompting Disney to opt out of a port stop. Riots began earlier this summer in response to a controversial new bill. As a result, the U.S. Department of State classifies New Caledonia with a Travel Advisory Level 3, which asks guests to reconsider travel to the location entirely.

The French territory is located on the main island of Grand Terre, best known for its selection of beaches and French and Kanak influences.

The Wonder was not the only Disney Cruise Line ship to face last-minute itinerary changes, as Disney’s Fantasy ship had to adjust its schedule due to Tropical Storm Helene. On September 24, passengers traveling aboard the Disney Fantasy did not get to visit Grand Cayman as originally planned, instead spending the day at sea before heading to Jamaica.

The Port Authority of the Cayman Islands confirmed that the port would be closed on Tuesday, September 24, due to the inclement weather caused by Tropical Storm Helene.

The Disney Wonder is one of Disney’s oldest cruise ships, first hitting the high seas in 1999. Over the last two decades, The Walt Disney Company has leaned heavily into the cruise line industry, introducing several more ships along the way.

Disney’s fleet now includes five ships: The Disney Magic, Disney Dream, Disney Wonder, Disney Fantasy, and Disney Wish, with several more on the way.

The next ship to join the Disney Cruise Line is the Disney Treasure, which will begin sailing sometime in 2024. The newest addition to the fleet is the Global Dream , which was built for a different company before Disney acquired it. This marked the first time Disney had purchased a ship that was constructed for use by a different company.

It's also home to Celebrity's Magic Carpet, a multipurpose 90-ton deck that moves up and down the side of the ship between Decks 2, 5, 14 and 16; it's used for everything from tendering passengers to hosting happy hours and private functions and late-night parties. Icon of the Seas: January 2024

The Royal Loft Suite aboard Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas.

Top feature: Largest cruise ship in the world, carrying up to 7,600 passengers

Fares begin around: $1,930 per person (double occupancy) for a seven-night Western Caribbean cruise

Sails to: Eastern and Western Caribbean

Icon of the Seas is the first Icon-class vessel in the Royal Caribbean International fleet – and the first new class of ship since 2014. When the massive vessel debuts in January 2024, it will replace Royal Caribbean's Wonder of the Seas as the largest ship at sea (Icon of the Seas is 6% larger). The ship features eight distinct neighborhoods – including the new Surfside neighborhood, a colorful space geared toward family fun with kids clubs, Splashaway Bay, themed eateries and bars, adjacent staterooms and more.

There are four additional new neighborhoods as well. Thrill Island features Category 6, the largest water park at sea, while Chill Island boasts the line's first swim-up bar and The Hideaway features the first suspended infinity pool at sea. AquaDome, the impressive glass-enclosed space at the top of the ship, is home to the AquaTheater, panoramic ocean views, a waterfall, and bars and restaurants.

Top feature: Princess Cruises' largest ship and the first in the line's Sphere class

Fares begin around: $577 per person (double occupancy) for a seven-night Eastern Caribbean cruise

Sails to: Caribbean, Mediterranean

Sun Princess will have many new attractions when it launches in early 2024. It has the most balconies on any Princess Cruises ' ship, and you'll find exciting new dining, activity and entertainment offerings. One notable highlight is Park19, a top-deck space with activities for kids of all ages, including the Sea Breeze Rollglider, the first ride of its kind on a cruise ship. This new attraction soars 19 decks high and offers unparalleled views of the ocean below.

Cruisers can enjoy additional spaces like a two-story dome that is a pool during the day and a stage for shows at night; the European-inspired Piazza, which offers ocean vistas from nearly every angle; the Princess Arena, a high-tech performance space; the elegant three-story Horizons Dining Room; and the new Wake View Terrace with an infinity pool. There are also new styles of accommodations and expanded offerings for young children, tweens and teens. Sun Princess can accommodate up to 4,300 passengers.

Once on board, guests will discover new entertainment venues like the Bright Lights Society show bar and more wide-open spaces throughout the ship, as well as Cunard 's first two-story theater. New international dining options include Japanese restaurant Aji Wa with sushi and omakase menus, plus Indian cuisine at Aranya. Queen Anne also offers an extensive health and wellness program in collaboration with health group Mareel that features a large thermal suite, a spa pool and a top-deck wellness studio.

Fares begin around: $471 per person (double occupancy) for a three-night Bahamas cruise

Sails to: Bahamas, Perfect Day at CocoCay (Royal Caribbean's private island)

Utopia of the Seas will be Royal Caribbean's sixth (and final) Oasis-class ship when it debuts in summer 2024. With a capacity of 5,668 passengers, the vessel will join the line's other Oasis- and Icon-class ships as the largest cruise ships sailing on the high seas. The ship will have the same eight neighborhoods as other Oasis-class ships, including Central Park, The Boardwalk and the Pool & Sports Zone.

The 40-plus food and beverage options will include new additions like the Pesky Parrot bar and a themed "mixed reality" dining experience that takes place on a train. A reimagined playscape is another addition, with nets, games, puzzles, slides and climbing walls for junior cruisers. The line's Ultimate Abyss – a dry slide with 10 stories of thrilling twists and turns – will now stretch an additional 43 feet, making it the longest dry slide at sea.

The 728-passenger, low-emissions vessel will offer the same advanced hybrid fuel technologies as its sister ship, Silver Nova. It will also have Silver Nova's horizontal layout and asymmetrical design, creating more open public areas and providing suites with 270-degree views. In addition, guests on board the luxury vessel will have their choice of eight dining venues and a wide selection of bars and lounges, including The Marquee, a new alfresco restaurant.

Viking Vela: December 2024

Wintergarden on a Viking ship.

It will accommodate 68 more passengers than its sister ships, but feature Viking's signature veranda staterooms, public spaces, amenities and dining venues. Seasoned Viking cruisers can look forward to favorites like The Nordic Spa, the Wintergarden, Mamsen's, the Explorers' Lounge, the Sports Deck, Manfredi's Italian Restaurant and The Chef's Table.

Disney Treasure: December 2024

The Grand Hall of the Disney Treasure.

Courtesy of Disney Cruise Line

Top feature: Debut of new Disney Parks-inspired onboard venues

Fares begin around: $4,028 per person (double occupancy) for a seven-night Caribbean cruise

Sails to: Eastern and Western Caribbean, Castaway Cay (Disney Cruise Line's private island)

Fans of Disney Cruise Line will find many familiar venues, attractions and restaurants on the new Disney Treasure, sister ship of Disney Wish . However, there will also be plenty of new features, including the theme of the ship: adventure. The Grand Hall, inspired by the movie "Aladdin," is designed with dark shades of blue, turquoise and gold and features a golden statue of a magic carpet with Aladdin and Jasmine.

Plaza de Coco replaces Disney Wish's "Frozen" dining experience with a two-night Mexican, "Coco"-themed theatrical dinner show. Meanwhile, "Disney The Tale of Moana" – a Broadway-style production based on the film "Moana" – will be exclusive to Disney Treasure. Adults will also find new lounges, such as the Jungle Cruise-themed Skipper Society and the Periscope Pub, which is inspired by "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea." Disney Treasure can carry up to 4,000 passengers.

MSC World America: Spring 2025

MSC's new futuristic ship – and sister ship to MSC World Europa – will be based in Miami and sail the Caribbean. The LNG-powered, 6,762-passenger ship will offer more than 420,000 square feet of public space and many of the attractions found on World Europa, such as the MSC Luna Park Arena and World Galleria. There will also be more than 30 dining venues, bars and lounges, as well as the line's private enclave, MSC Yacht Club.

Oceania Allura: June 2025

Oceania Allura will be the eighth ship in Oceania's fleet, the second vessel of the line's Allura class and the sister ship to Oceania Vista. The 1,200-passenger Allura will offer the same upscale amenities as Vista, as well as a new Chef's Studio and one of the highest space-to-guest and staff-to-guest ratios in the cruise industry. Allura is scheduled to debut in June 2025.

Star Princess: August 2025

Star Princess is scheduled to set sail in 2025 as the sister ship to Sun Princess. The 4,300-passenger, LNG-powered ship will offer the same features as Sun Princess, including the Dome, the Piazza and the line's Signature Collection Suites. The vessel will also have 29-plus restaurants and bars.

Star of the Seas: Summer 2025

Royal Caribbean plans to introduce Star of the Seas – the second Icon-class vessel and sister to Icon of the Seas – in summer 2025.

Disney Cruise Line: 2025

Disney purchased the former Global Dream from Genting's Dream Cruises in 2022, when it was still being built at the German shipyard MV Werften. Disney plans to base the ship in Singapore for at least five years, offering Disney vacations to the Southeast Asian market. When it launches in 2025, the vessel will be the line's seventh ship and is expected to carry 6,000 passengers. Another newly built, currently unnamed Disney ship is planned to debut in 2025, as well.

Norwegian Cruise Line: 2025 and beyond

The third Prima-class ship is expected to be approximately 10% larger than the first ship in the class, Norwegian Prima (143,535 gross tons). The following ships for the line are anticipated to be even larger, with the fifth and sixth Prima-class vessels (debuting in 2027 and 2028) weighing as much as 171,000 gross tons.

Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity's fifth Edge-class ship will be more eco-friendly, thanks to the addition of a new tri-fueled engine model and the capacity to store three different kinds of fuel, including methanol. The effort toward net-zero emissions and more sustainable cruising is a partnership between Royal Caribbean, the French shipyard Chantiers de L'Atlantique and the technology firm Wärtsilä. A debut date for this ship has not yet been announced.
