This was my first time seeing Declan McKenna and he put on an spectacular show! To start, the concert was right on time so he went on exactly when we were told he would go on. His setlist wasn't incredibly long, so his performance ended at around 9:55-10:00. His vocals and band sound much clearer and better live than in the studio, and he connected with our audience very quickly. The crowd wasn't too wild; my side was pretty calm so Dec didn't come to interact with us as much as he did the middle and the other side. He interacted with the audience as a whole multiple times and was very humbled by everyone being so excited to be there. The amount of energy he exerted into his performance and every song was unlike anything I'd seen. You could tell how much his music and the show meant to him just from watching him perform.

After the show, he came out from backstage to meet fans by the merchandise table, and Declan was so incredibly kind and sweet to every single fan he met! My friend and I talked with him briefly about Arcade Fire and we got photos with him and he took his time to talk with every single one of us, so that was a very cool detail. I also got to meet Matt Shultz from Cage the Elephant after the show (!!!!!) since his brother's band was the opener. Overall, his performance was phenomenal and I would 100% recommend seeing Declan if you haven't already because he absolutely blew me and everyone else away.

I went to Declan's concert at the KOKO.

It was great. Music was great, support was great, everything was great... apart from one thing.

Declan or anyone else couldn't have really changed this but I felt like the crowd wasn't as welcoming as the crowds from oter concerts I have been to. The vibe from some people (not everyone some were actually really nice)was a bit unfriendly. Sometimes I felt really unwelcome. The crowd, especially on the floor, was not great. It's hard to explain. But I think it was just this concert. I have seen other videos of Declan on this tour and people seemed really nice so I guess it was just at this one. I also talked to my frends who went with me and they didn't agree with me on this, so it also might just be me.

But Declan was amazing. Loved it. Support band, Feet was great too. I've started listening to their music too.

Overall, great concert. would go again.

It was amazing I loved it! Before the show, I got to meet the opening band Dan Luke and The Raid while waiting outside in line and they were so nice! At the venue, it was very easy to find a good spot to watch from. Declan came out on stage in a mask before the show started and the crowd went wild. The show itself was great! My mom recorded most of the show for me so I could enjoy the show in the moment and look back later. After the show, I bought merch from both Declan and the opening act. It was very affordable merch so I was happy. I got a picture with Dan Luke and The Raid and I got to meet/take a picture with Declan Mckenna which was amazing! Declan was so nice and sweet! I would love to go to another show of his when he comes back to the states, which I'm sure he will because he's going to blow up one day.

If you are considering going to see Declan live, you should. You won't regret it.

I became a fan of Declan after discovering Paracetamol and instantly fell in love with his passionate singing and songwriting. However, live you can see the emotion in his eyes.

He is a born entertainer and loves interacting with the crowd whether that's touching hands with fans or crowd-surfing. He even climbed on the speaker in front of me. He was literally above me and I even managed to capture the moment on my phone.

You can clearly tell how much Declan adores music from the love he gives to us fans each show.

I will definitely go see Declan again and you should too. No matter whether it is your first time or twenty seventh time, the show will be one to remember.

The show was phenomenal~ the venue was intimate, and the opening act brought their own unique energy that made for a happy crowd, all the while hyping them up for the main act. Each and every audience member felt personally addressed by McKenna's performance, especially given that he left the stage more than once, at one point even running up to the the balcony and preceding to jump down among the crowd, but not before giving everyone up there a high five. Lastly, for a moving encore, both acts came on stage together to perform 'Listen To Your Friends'. The vibe in the room was good and the energy high. To top it all off, both bands stuck around after the show to sign merch and take pictures, embracing the fans and making everyone's week.

Declan is a singer worth seeing! At the Sinclair, he came on a bit late but Dan Luke and The Raid played and kept us entertained! When he came on, he was so hyped and ready that he got the crowd really excited and myself included! He had such great interactions with the fans, he threw things out (mostly flowers), and he even crowd surfed a couple of times! He eventually climbed a balcony and landed on others and I! I really loved the energy and the passion he brought on Tuesday night to Cambridge, he made this concert experience the best I've ever been to. I look forward to seeing him back in the states. I highly recommend going to see him!

High energy performance, which delivered and expanded expectations. Although he was ill, Declan managed to powerfully portray is musical repertoire in an engaging, and what look effortless performance. As this was a Halloween show, him and his band were dressed up in Ghostbusters attire and even added an extra musical number, the theme song, to their setlist. The banter and chemistry between Declan and the band was clear with the hilarious back-and-forth comments between them. The crowd clearly enjoyed themselves and fed off the excellent energy from the performers. Overall, a brilliant performance with many stand out moments.

Seeing Declan live was an EXPERIENCE. He’s so talented and his songs are so fun to dance and sing along to. I also loved how small the venue was because it was an intimate show, my favorite types of shows. Declan is also the sweetest + he met people after the show. His opening act, Chappell Roan was the cutest and she lit up with happiness every time we would cheer her on. Both her and Declan are so talented and deserve more recognition. If you have the chance to see Declan, do it!! It’s such a nice environment and small shows like this don’t happen often, especially with growing artists.

Really enjoyable. We sat in the circle. He did a great selection of songs mixing in the hits (or more popular songs). Second time i have seen him but the first was in a festival so Monday night was definitely an improvement. I didnt understand why people were making mosh pits when looking down at the crowds as he's quite chilled. Really enjoyed it overall was so glad I could go and I will definitely be seeing him again!! Come back to Manchester soon xx

Declan was absolutely amazing! The atmosphere was super fun and hyped and everyone was so pumped!! He is RADICAL live and super energetic! It was definitely the best and most fun concert I have ever been to and meaningful because we all got to share in a special moment with Declan and his band when they played one of their new, unreleased songs for us!! ❤ Absolutely marvelous experience, you should totally go see him if you can, he is SO fun!!!!

Declan McKenna

January 2 - january 8.

Trailblazing, platinum-selling, British singer-songwriter Declan McKenna , will be taking over Sydney, Melbourne & Perth in January 2024, performing his first-ever headline shows in Australia!

These shows will see the songsmith tease audiences with a preview of his highly anticipated forthcoming album, What Happened to the Beach? which is set to drop on Friday 9 February .

Declan McKenna’s music journey has been nothing short of extraordinary, from smash hits “Brazil” , “British Bombs”, and “The Key to Life on Earth” to his forthcoming third album, What Happened to the Beach? . The album features recently released lead singles “Sympathy” and “Nothing Works” , with Declan embarking on his most exciting undertaking yet.

In support of his upcoming record, the sharp British singer-songwriter announced earlier this month that he’ll be heading off on a 14-date run of shows across the UK in 2024 after his debut shows down under, stopping at London’s Alexandra Palace, Declan’s biggest headline show to date.

Following an early evening slot on the main stage at Reading and Leeds Festival behind Billie Eilish, and extensive touring of the US already this year, Declan McKenna is ready for the next bow, this time in Australia! Declan’s Sydney,   Melbourne & Perth dates accompany his festival appearance at Heaps Good Adelaide over the festive season.

Declan McKenna to Play Headline Shows in October Ahead Of Tour With Sabrina Carpenter

Tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, July 19 at 10am local time.

pixeltracker

Declan McKenna will play headlining tour dates in October in cities including Port Chester, Boston, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, and more (full dates below) as well as a rescheduled show in Pomona, CA in November.

LATEST NEWS

These new tour dates precede his previously announced dates supporting Sabrina Carpenter in cities including Salt Lake City, Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco and more (full dates below). McKenna sold out three US tours last year, which saw him play to over 60 thousand fans, and tickets for these new dates will be available via various presales starting on Wednesday, July 17 at 10am local time and will go on sale to the general public  here  on Friday, July 19 at 10am local time. Declan McKenna’s third album,  What Happened To The Beach?  is out now and finds McKenna shedding a metaphorical skin. If his previous works were that of a young musician trying to find his place in the world, his latest is a musician taking heed of his own experience trusting his instincts. It’s a nimble record, written and recorded under the California sun with playful grooves and loose structures.  McKenna says, “I was putting a lot of pressure on myself in the past when I just needed to drop the intensity a bit and have some fun.” What Happened To The Beach? is available on all formats  here   The new record was released amidst Declan’s cover of ABBA’s “Slipping Through My Fingers” which gained both popularity and notoriety on social media, entered the Billboard TikTok US Viral chart at #10. It’s Declan’s second viral hit on the platform after debut single Brazil became a standout, several years after its original release.

Chappell Roan Is Making Pop Music Fun Again – Here's Everything You Need To Know

She’s here, she’s queer and she’s fast becoming one of the biggest artists of the year. Get to know the powerhouse singer.

Her ascent has been rapid, but it’s clear that Roan is a musical artist with staying power – no small feat in the attention-deficit age. She has already built a distinctive look and a collection of catchy songs, from dance anthems to devastating ballads. The singer’s powerful, emotive vocals have drawn comparisons to Kate Bush and Lana Del Rey , and it's not hard to see why.

So, who is the singer that Rolling Stone is heralding as ‘the future of pop’?

the tonight show starring jimmy fallon season 11

Here's everything you need to know about Chappell Roan:

Where is Chappell Roan from?

Born Kayleigh Rose Amstutz, the performer chose the stage name ‘Chappell Roan’ as an homage to her grandfather, Dennis K Chappell, who died in 2016, and his favourite song, ‘The Strawberry Roan’ by Curley Fletcher. Rebranding as Chappell also allowed the aspiring star to create a more confident on-stage identity, which she refers to as her Hannah Montana, or drag persona. This separation helped to inform her maximalist aesthetic (think The Rocky Horror Picture Show meets Claire’s Accessories… but make it fashion).

An air of mystery surrounds the real life of 26-year-old Kayleigh Amstutz. Internet sleuths know relatively little about her upbringing and personal experiences, and the creation of her pop star identity reveals the intentionality behind that mystery. What we do know is that Roan is definitely not a ' nepo baby '. She was raised in a trailer park in Missouri and had a conservative, Christian upbringing. No one in her family has a musical background.

How did Chappell Roan become famous?

While the artist only just appeared on the world’s pop-music radar, Roan’s ‘overnight success’ took nearly a decade to take shape. After posting videos of her singing to YouTube as a teenager, she was initially picked up by Atlantic Records at just 17 years old.

Around this time, Roan began touring. She has performed as the opening act for Declan McKenna, Fletcher and, most famously, Olivia Rodrigo , on both her Sour and Guts World Tour. Aside from the support she’s received from her friend Rodrigo, Roan has been praised by Lady Gaga, Sabrina Carpenter and Elton John.

2024 bonnaroo music arts festival

Then, in 2020, after getting a taste of success, Roan was dropped from Atlantic Records. She considered giving up altogether, but decided to move home and develop her music independently. After a year working at a drive-through, Roan was signed by her long-time collaborator Dan Nigro and his newly founded Amusement label, under Island Records. Nigro is a Grammy-winning producer who has worked with Rodrigo and Caroline Polachek. In 2023, after many years of trying to break into the industry, Roan dropped her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess .

What is Chappell Roan's music style and genre?

Though it didn’t make the Billboard 200 upon its release, Roan's single ‘Midwest Princess’ would become a sleeper hit. It garnered a cult following and, eventually, went viral in 2024 (it’s now at number five on the Billboard chart). Roan dabbles in different styles throughout her debut, including pop, synth, rock and disco, with 1980s and early-2000s influences. The album also sees Roan embrace her Sapphic identity, with audacious, intimate lyrics exploring queer hookups, queer heartbreak and queer horniness. For the cover, Roan is in a campy, pageant-queen get-up, solidifying her now-signature style: bright-red curly hair, theatrical make-up and hyper-femme clothing.

The popstar's image is heavily inspired by drag culture, which she is a fan of. As well as her dramatic tour costumes that coordinate with song themes (glittery, fuchsia Western outfits for ‘Pink Pony Club’, and so on), some of her most memorable looks include her butterfly Coachella outfit and the Statue of Liberty ensemble she wore for her Governor’s Ball set in NYC. The latter involved Roan being painted green in full-body make-up. When asked what her influences are, she listed burlesque, horror movies and theatre. 'I love looking pretty and scary. Or pretty and tacky. Or just not pretty. I love that, too,' she said.

Where is Chappell Roan touring this year?

Performing is the LA-based artist’s favourite part of the job. In a TikTok , she revealed she practises singing while jogging, so she can belt as she dances and ‘not pass out on stage’. Currently playing US and Canada venues on her Midwest Princess tour, Roan is set to come to Europe in September. With her Spotify streams now at nearly 32 million (and rising by the day), it’s unsurprising that all of her UK tour dates are currently sold out.

How did Chappell Roan become a queer pop icon?

Roan’s rise has aligned with a surge in Sapphic pop culture in 2024, a year that brought us the viral opening of London’s second lesbian bar , the release of dating show I Kissed a Girl and Billie Eilish’s venture into queer songwriting. Roan is considered a figurehead of what some are calling a ‘ lesbian pop renaissance’.

While there are tracks on ‘Midwest Princess’ that play into a gay-icon persona, in the tradition of Madonna and Lady Gaga, there are also vulnerable lyrics about the highs and lows of lesbian desire. On ‘Naked in Manhattan’, Roan sings: ‘Could go to hell but we'll probably be fine… I’ve never done it’. She confessed some lyrics are autobiographical, while others are based in imagination, or ‘manifestations’ of things she wants to happen. ‘I'm about 30% Kayleigh on the stage,’ she said, in an interview with the BBC. ‘But if I'm doing a song like "Kaleidoscope", then I'm fully Kayleigh.’

As she likes to keep her private life fairly private, it’s unclear whether Roan is currently dating anyone. She told Nylon last July that she had just entered her first same-sex relationship. She has also said she is done dating men, and now identifies as lesbian.

What’s next for Chappell Roan in 2024?

Her newest single ‘Good Luck, Babe!’ – a bittersweet bop about liking a girl who is in denial about her sexuality – was met with social-media frenzy upon its release in April. Roan has called it ‘the first song of the next chapter’, hinting at a second album in the works.

Despite being somewhat of a newbie on pop’s global stage, the musician’s journey to stardom is the first step of what will certainly be a career-to-watch. For Roan, this is only the beginning. We can’t wait to see what she will do (and wear) next.

In  a four-star review of McKenna’s latest record ,  NME  wrote: “On ‘What Happened To The Beach?’, perfectionism is released to make space to revel in creativity, resulting in a truly joyful effort.”

McKenna said in  a recent interview with  NME  that he’d found the process of making the album “quite empowering”, adding: “[It] has made me feel like I’m capable of executing different kinds of songs.

“I see every album of mine as an opportunity to make something that I’m proud of, as well as an opportunity to learn from different people along the way. I followed a dramatically different process to what I have done before, but it allowed me to absorb new methods from the musicians around me.”

In February, McKenna celebrated the album release by performing a rendition of his 2023 single  ‘Nothing Works’ on the long-running children’s TV show  Blue Peter. He also got involved with the regular arts and crafts segment of the show.

Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter announces MAJOR Dublin gig

declan mckenna tour 2024

Pop sensation Sabrina Carpenter teased the European leg of her Short n’ Sweet tour might include a Dublin date, and now we know this block of dates will kick off in our own 3 Arena.

The Espresso singer announced her The Short n’ Sweet Tour in North America on June 20, with support from Amaarae, Griff and Declan McKenna, and she’ll be kicking things off in Ohio in September.

Story continues below.

After she completes the sold-out American leg of her tour in November, she’ll be making her way to her boyfriend Barry Keoghan’s hometown in March 2025.

The Dublin date announcement had been teased in a marketing scheme that included venues across Europe that will be hosting the Short n’ Sweet Tour, with our 3Arena taking to Instagram on July 17 to share an image of the venue lit up pink, with a lipstick kiss projected onto the side of the building.

‘I have a fun idea babe…tomorrow [July 18] at 4pm BST,’ they captioned the post, with fans taking to the comments to share their excitement.

‘SABRINA CARPENTER I BEG YOU DONT BREAK MY BANK ACCOUNT,’ one user wrote.

‘It’s gonna be the great war 2.0,’ a second added, referencing the ordeal for Irish fans trying to obtain Eras Tour tickets. ‘PLEASE PLEASE PLEASEEEE,’ a third pleaded.

Tickets for the European leg of the tour are likely to sell out like hot cakes after her 33 North American arena dates sold out immediately when released.

The news comes as Espresso celebrates its sixth non-consecutive week at number one in the UK (which knocked her other song Please. Please. Please. to number two), and she has extended her own record as the female artist to concurrently occupy numbers 1 and 2 for the most consecutive weeks – recently surpassing The Beatles, and now matching Justin Bieber’s month-long chart residency.

Sabrina Carpenter 3Arena show comes to Dublin on March 3, 2025, and presale begins on July 23 at 10am local time for those also pre-ordering the album, with artist pre-sale opening at 12pm. The venue presale kicks off on July 24, MCD’s on July 25 and tickets go on general sale on July 26, all at 10am.

Sabrina Carpenter Unveils International Dates for Her ‘Short n' Sweet' Tour

Singer-songwriter Sabrina Carpenter has announced her upcoming global tour in support of her album “ Short n' Sweet ,” due out Aug. 23.

Carpenter is set to visit the UK and Europe in 2025 on a headlining arena tour that kicks off with a North American leg in Sept. 23 in Columbus, Ohio. Carpenter has already sold out a run of 33 arena shows in North America that includes dates in New York’s Madison Square Garden and the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Amaarae , Griff and Declan McKenna will be supporting Carpenter on the North American tour, while Rachel Chinouriri will be joining her as the support act on the new run of international dates. See the complete lineup below.

Carpenter has partnered with PLUS1 on this tour to launch the Sabrina Carpenter Fund, which will support the well-being of people and animals, including national and local organizations working on the issues of mental health, animal welfare, and support for the LGBTQ+ community.

Nearly six albums into her career, Carpenter made Hot 100 history with her new single "Please Please Please" debuting at No. 2, and "Espresso" rising to a new peak of No. 3 on the list. The 25-year-old singer-songwriter became the first solo act in the history of the Billboard chart to land two simultaneous top-three hits without having previously charted in that realm.

“Please Please Please” was completed by a cinematic music video starring “Saltburn” star and Carpenter’s real-life boyfriend, Barry Keoghan. The song was co-written with Amy Allen, who also helped pen “Espresso.”

The singles will appear on her new album, “Short n' Sweet," due out Aug. 23. "This project is quite special to me and [I] hope it'll be something special to you too," she wrote on social media with the announcement. Half of the LP was produced by Jack Antonoff, along with returning collaborator, Julian Bunetta, as reported by Rolling Stone.

Carpenter released her fifth album "Emails I Can't Send" in 2022 , as well as its deluxe edition "Emails I Can't Send Fwd" the following year. It became her highest-charting to date and boasted a hot single "Nonsense,” a song that caught fire after she provided alternate closing lyrics while opening for Taylor Swift's Eras Tour in South America and Australia. She also toured the album on her own 80-date headlining world tour.

Inspiring Excellence: Corey McKenna’s Innovative Science Fair Project Showcases Hands-On Learning at the Coeur d’Alene Campus

June 27, 2024.

In a recent initiative at the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, Corey McKenna, clinical assistant professor of education at the Coeur d’Alene campus, orchestrated a remarkable science fair project that exemplifies the institution’s commitment to immersive, hands-on learning experiences.

When asked about the motivation behind initiating the project, McKenna expressed a desire for students to engage in practical applications of their knowledge. He wanted to shift the focus from traditional assessments to a more enjoyable and engaging activity that mirrored real-world scenarios in classrooms. Rather than conventional tests or lesson plans, students undertook the challenge of putting together their own science fair projects from the perspective of a student.

The culmination of these efforts featured students presenting their meticulously researched projects to a distinguished panel of judges, which included Raymond Dixon, Julia Amador and Ciarra McCormack. The students not only created science fair boards but also shared their findings with peers and judges, fostering a collaborative and interactive learning environment.

The outcomes were not just limited to certificates of participation; the judges identified and celebrated the top three winners. McKenna noted the students’ satisfaction with their results, emphasizing the joy they experienced in sharing their work with others.

Reflecting on the experience, McKenna shared that, despite being his first attempt at incorporating a science fair into the curriculum, the outcome surpassed expectations. Students embarked on diverse and creative projects, ranging from “Molding Fruit” to “Slime Time” and from “Paper Towel Absorbency” to investigating which fruits or veggies conducted light the best. The success of the inaugural project has left McKenna eagerly anticipating the opportunity to repeat the experience when he teaches the course again in the fall.

This science fair project stands as a testament to the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences’ dedication to fostering innovative and immersive learning experiences, preparing students for success in their future careers. The narrative is not just about the projects themselves but also about the collaborative and supportive environment that encourages faculty and students alike to reach new heights of excellence.
