Description

Welcome to Bern! The Capital City of Switzerland and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Join Switzerland-tour journeys over Bern City by meeting your friendly guide at Bern's main train station or the lobby of your hotel. Start revealing secrets about the civilization of this deep-rooted and historic city while enjoying the stunning scenery all around you.

The first place to visit will be the striking Holy Ghost Church (Heiliggeistkirche) dating back to the 15th century, which was renovated in 2005 - 2006.

Next, you’ll stroll through the Old Town (Altstadt), feeling like you’re walking right out of a history book as you walk along Spitalgasse Street and beautiful Barenplatz. Then you’ll continue on to shop on Marktgasse Street, viewing 9 astonishing fountains, each with unique sculptures.

You will then move on to discover the Zytglogge - the world’s oldest functioning clock tower. This decorated astronomical calendar watch is the masterpiece of Bern’s Old Town and has been in service for over 800 years.

At the center of Bern lies the Bundesplatz. Here you’ll discover the Swiss Parliament House, the Government Palace "Bundeshaus." It’s home to public festivals, surrounded by leading Swiss banks and is the picture of Swiss daily life!

If you’d like to continue your education, you have the optional opportunity to visit the Einstein House Museum on the most famous street Kramgasse, where the world’s genius physicist lived.

And if you have enough determination, energy, and persistence, do not hesitate to climb the 344 stairs of Bern’s Cathedral. It is the highest tower in the city, which displays stunning views of the majestic scenery of the Old Town nestled on the banks of Aare River and the snowy mountains of Berner Oberland.

The last point of our excursion is the "Bear Pit" next to the brewery-restaurant Tramdepot. You will reach this destination to visit the friendly bears by crossing the Aare River, where you’ll see them in their natural environment.

After an action-filled day, you can sit back and relax at the Rose Garden (Rosengarten) situated near the Bear Pit. Here, the magnificent atmosphere and enjoyable panorama of Bern City unfolds. However, if you’d still like to embrace the culture and history, you could continue to visit one of the exciting museums in Bern, such as the Bern Historical Museum, Swiss Alpine Museum, Natural History Museum or even the Museum of Communication.

Book your adventurous city tour of Bern now to explore its hidden depths and immerse yourself in real Swiss culture.

The picture shows a lively scene from a city tour in Bern, Switzerland. The city guide, recognisable by her smile and green scarf, stands in the foreground as she enthusiastically entertains the group. Part of the famous Zytglogge tower, a medieval city gate with an astronomical clock, is visible in the background. The scene looks lively and interactive as a person in the foreground uses their smartphone to capture the moment.

Albert Einstein, Paul Klee and Friedrich Dürrenmatt all lived in Bern for a while and have walked beneath the arcades and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere on the Minster terrace.

Be it famous guests, locals or tourists from all over the world – Bern’s Old City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, fascinates everyone with its distinctive limestone buildings, charming alleys and impressive monuments. The guided tour takes participants to all the places that visitors from near and far love and gives them an interesting insight into Bern’s history.

Don’t forget to bring your own bottle to fill! Because there’s nothing better than sipping fresh fountain water while on the tour.

The picture shows a close-up of the hands of a person holding a historical map of Bern. The map is colourful and detailed, with different parts of the city marked in different colours. The person, presumably a city guide, points to a specific section of the map, possibly to draw the attention of the audience to a historically important place or event. The focus on the map and the gesticulating hand convey a sense of curiosity and discovery.

The 90-minute walk takes guests through the Old City, on cobbled streets, past hidden nooks and onto historical city squares. You will hear facts and anecdotes, funny and serious stories, information about the past and the present. From the Bernese Minster in the late Gothic style, the Parliament Building and the Kornhaus (Granary) with the “Chindlifresserbrunnen” (Ogre Fountain) to Käfigturm (Prison Tower) and Bern’s oldest city gate – there’s so much to discover.
