beyonce dubai performance

As expected, Beyoncé has announced a 2023 world tour on Instagram, supporting her multiple-Grammy-nominated 2022 album, “Renaissance.” She also released the dates and cities on her official website.

The timing of the announcement, which comes just days before the Grammy Awards on Sunday, sparks speculation that the singer may perform or at least appear on the show. Beyoncé is the most nominated artist for the awards with nine, all related to “ Renaissance .” Sources tell Variety that her husband Jay-Z will perform with DJ Khaled on the show, most likely their nominated song “God Did.”

Beyoncé has said that “Renaissance” is a three-part project, so it’s possible that the next parts could be another album, a long-form video project or even the tour itself.

Beyoncé’s last full tour was the nearly six-month, 49-date “Formation” tour in 2016, which unusually featured no guest appearances until the final show, at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium, where she brought out Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z.

She did, however, stage an epochal “Homecoming” headlining performance at the 2018 Coachella festival — which was postponed from 2017 due to the birth of her and Jay’s twins — for which she was accompanied by a full marching band in a nod to historically Black colleges and universities. That blockbuster performance was later released as the “Homecoming” album and — via a three-project deal with Netflix that sources tell Variety is worth $60 million — a feature-length documentary. It seems possible that a future “Renaissance” video project could be part of that deal as well.

Beyoncé Announces ‘Renaissance’ 2023 World Tour

Another Ticketmaster war is on the horizon as the BeyHive prepares for battle. After weeks of speculation, Beyoncé has officially confirmed a world tour in support of Renaissance , scheduled to make stops in stadiums across the world in 2023 .

The musician confirmed the news on Wednesday morning. The tour will begin in Europe this May before landing in North America on July 8 with back-to-back nights at Toronto’s Rogers Centre. The tour will make stops in Philadelphia, Nashville, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta, Miami, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New Orleans, and more.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by Beyoncé (@beyonce)

The Renaissance tour marks Beyoncé’s first extended stretch on the road since the On the Run tour, which made 48 stops across North America and Europe in 2018. Those shows were proceeded by the singer’s redefining Coachella performance, which arrived as the Netflix concert film Homecoming the following year.

The clips sparked multiple viral moments, the most notable being Beyoncé’s new vocal arrangements on familiar records, including “Drunk in Love” and “Countdown.” The private concert, notably, did not include any Renaissance tracks on the setlist, even the chart-topping lead single “Break My Soul.”

The tour announcement arrives as a saving grace for a starved BeyHive, still yearning for any meaningful visual companion pieces to the singer’s acclaimed seventh studio album. If Beyoncé is heading on the road again, maybe the wait for the music videos she teased in the record release trailer won’t be too much longer.

“As is customary for her, she layers the album with enough totems to fuel a million think pieces and dissertations,” Rolling Stone shared of Renaissance . “Yet it’s also possible to simply dance and vibe to the music. This is Beyoncé at her joyous peak, and you won’t get it unless you pull the “plastic off the sofa,” “drop it like a thottie,” and enjoy Queen Bey at her thrilling best.”

Where can you get tickets?

Tickets for the North American leg of the tour will be available through Ticketmaster's Verified Fan program. Tickets will go on sale Monday, Feb 6, with an exclusive presale to BeyHive members, according to a Live Nation press release.

Verified Fan registration is now open. Once you register, you'll be placed in a lottery system that determines which fans get invited to purchase tickets. Registration alone doesn't guarantee tickets. If you're selected, you'll get an access code the day before tickets go on sale. Everyone else will be placed on a waitlist. According to Live Nation, this process is intended to help Ticketmaster weed out the resellers and verify your account so that actual fans get priority to buy tickets.

Citi cardmembers will have a special Citi Presale after the Verified Fan process. Get more details here . Verizon will also offer an exclusive presale through their customer loyalty program Verizon Up .

Will Beyoncé be using Ticketmaster like Taylor Swift to sell tickets?

Yes, but given what happened with Taylor Swift's Eras tour (and the fact it led to Congressional hearings about Ticketmaster ’s practices), it seems very likely both Beyoncé and Ticketmaster would want to avoid repeating that mess. That most likely explains the usage of the Verified Fan system.

Where will Beyoncé be playing?

The Renaissance World Tour will hit 40 cities in North America and across Europe. Stops include Paris, London, Amsterdam, Toronto, Chicago, East Rutherford, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Houston, and many more.

What has Beyoncé said about the Renaissance World Tour?

She just announced it was happening with a post on February 1. Her website didn't immediately contain any more details. But during the Wearable Art Gala in October 2022, she appeared to confirm it would start this summer, as a backstage tour with her mother Tina Lawson was up for auction at the event.

Will Beyoncé be performing at the Grammys (on February 5) and sharing more tour details there?

Not clear yet, but she is the most nominated artist at the ceremony . On January 21, Variety reported that “ talks with show producers are ongoing for a possible onstage appearance ” by Beyoncé.

What can we expect from the tour on stage?

Beyoncé hasn't shared that yet either, but given the artistry she put into her recent Dubai show , it's fair to say we can expect no less than excellence, elaborate costumes, and an incredible experience.

This post will be updated the moment more detail is released.

What will the stage be like for the Renaissance World Tour?

According to reports, the stage for Bey's tour is set to be huge.

A source close to the production revealed that: "The structure for the stage is gigantic and on a totally different scale from any other tour right now – that’s why she needed a huge venue to rehearse in.

And she can’t run through the show in any of the stadiums she is performing in because they aren’t soundproofed and people would hear what she was preparing.

She is on top form and is pulling out all the stops to make this a truly groundbreaking tour."

Beyoncé Announces Renaissance World Tour 2023 with Stops in 25 U.S. Cities

The "Crazy in Love" singer confirmed the hugely anticipated stadium tour on Instagram Wednesday morning

where is beyonce on tour now

Beyoncé is back, baby!

The singer, who is up for nine Grammys this Sunday , revealed her Renaissance World Tour 2023 on Wednesday morning in an Instagram post — coincidentally, (or perhaps, very strategically!) six years to the day she announced her surprise pregnancy with twins .

The highly anticipated tour — produced by Parkwood Entertainment and promoted by Live Nation — is set to kick off in Europe on May 10 at Friends Arena in Stockholm, Sweden before touring overseas in Cardiff, Edinburgh, Sunderland, Paris, London, Marseille, Amsterdam, Warsaw and more.

A North American leg of the tour begins on July 8 in Toronto, Canada before hitting 25 U.S. cities including Philadelphia, Nashville, Louisville, Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, East Rutherford, Boston, Pittsburgh, Washington, D.C., Charlotte, Atlanta, Tampa, Miami, St. Louis, Phoenix, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Inglewood, Vancouver, Seattle, Kansas City, Dallas, and Houston.

The tour is currently scheduled to wrap on Sept. 27 in New Orleans.

For complete ticket information, visit tour.beyonce.com .

Beyonce's last tour was 2018's On the Run tour which hit 48 cities in North America and Europe. Beyoncé last performed a full concert back in 2018, when she and JAY-Z, 53, appeared at the Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 event .

The tour announcement comes just over one week after Queen Bey performed her first full concert in more than four years, when she performed an hour-long set at the new Atlantis The Royal Resort in Dubai.

For more on Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour announcement, listen below to our daily podcast PEOPLE Every Day.

Moving through a decade of iconic hits, Beyoncé, 41, performed staples such as "Crazy in Love," "Beautiful Liar" and "Naughty Girl," as well as more recent tunes including "Freedom," "Spirit" and "Be Alive."

The singer wore a set of dazzling looks during the performance, including a yellow custom-made Atelier Zuhra corseted dress, which was topped with a feathered skirt and matching backpiece, when she opened the show performing a cover of Etta James ' "At Last."

Then, the mother of three changed into another custom gown, an all-red Nicolas Jebran ensemble composed of a skin-tight bodysuit that was decorated with gold jewels across her torso and chest. She accessorized the look with a matching, billowing skirt and an intricate headpiece.

Notably missing from Beyoncé's set was any song from Renaissance .

Renaissance , which has been billed as the first of a three-part project , marks Beyoncé's first solo album in six years.

She previously released Dangerously in Love (2003), B'Day (2006), I Am... Sasha Fierce (2008), 4 (2011), Beyoncé (2013) and Lemonade (2016), following her tenure with Destiny's Child . Beyoncé also appeared on the 2018 collaborative album Everything Is Love with husband JAY-Z , as well as 2019's The Lion King: The Gift , a soundtrack for Disney's live-action adaptation that features original music by the artist.

Additionally, she released Homecoming: The Live Album in 2019, recorded from her iconic Coachella performance the year before.

A visual album for Renaissance has been previously teased , but no release date for it yet has been announced.

Everything We Learned from Night One of Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour

Beyoncé Renaissance World Tour Opening Night - Stockholm

I t’s the moment everyone’s been waiting for: Beyoncé finally kicked off her Renaissance World Tour in Stockholm, Sweden , Wednesday night. This comes close to a year after the release of her seventh album, RENAISSANCE , a period during which she has rarely acknowledged the album with interviews or public performances of the new music, nor put out any music videos to accompany the songs. Nonetheless, the BeyHive was still buzzing with excitement on social media as they shared clips of the stage, the merchandise, the view from different VIP sections, and, most importantly, the artist performing the songs live for the first time.

Beyoncé is gearing up for a second night at the Friends Arena in Stockholm. As she gets ready to hit the stage, let’s take a look at what was revealed in the first show that might offer an indication of what could happen on the rest of the highly anticipated tour. A lot has already happened—from Bey herself addressing the lack of visuals to her celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, in keeping with the themes of the album.

Here’s everything we learned from night one of the Renaissance World Tour.

Beyoncé said not to rush a queen for music videos

omg not beyoncé addressing the visuals i’m crying 😭 #RenaissanceWorldTour pic.twitter.com/xQ9AkBCp3p — rasmus (@rasmusbravado) May 10, 2023

If we haven’t learned by now, Beyoncé releases things when she is good and ready . This is her first solo album since 2016’s Lemonade , so we can’t act surprised that she told her fans to be patient and stop asking about the music videos. Her last solo albums, Lemonade , Beyoncé , and The Gift (a concept album for The Lion King ), all had visual components that included music videos for each song. This built up the expectation that RENAISSANCE would get the same treatment.

Beyoncé is online and knows her fans have been hounding her, and she has finally responded. During a break on the first night, a disembodied voice addressed the crowd as the words it spoke were displayed on stage: “Aww, you mad? Well, there’s no remedy for that, bitches… I know you’ve asked for the visuals. You’ve called for the Queen. But a Queen moves at her own pace, bitch. Decides when she wants to give you a f-cking taste. So get your fork and your spoon if you got one.”

She is cutting out some of her biggest hits to make room for the new album and deep cuts

Attendees at the concert in Stockholm filmed every moment for the world to see on social media, and many of Beyoncé’s fans were quite surprised by some of the songs she decided to perform. She opened the show with “Dangerously In Love” from her debut album of the same name and ran through a string of popular songs, both mainstream hits and fan favorites. At the opening night show, she also performed songs like “Rather Die Young,” “Flaws and All,” and “Black Parade,” which have not gotten much attention from Beyoncé in recent memory.

Beyonce - Rather Die Young 🎤 SINGGGGGG!!!! #RenaissanceWorldTour pic.twitter.com/MEZwAVYNWk — ram (@oyyram) May 10, 2023

Some of Beyoncé’s most popular songs, many of which she has made a point to perform on past tours, are notably missing from the set list. “Run The World” fans, do not worry: she still performs the song. But those who are fans of “If I Were a Boy,” “Single Ladies,” and “Halo,” a notorious closer for Beyoncé—as evidenced by the Homecoming concert film and her Formation World Tour— may be disappointed.

Beyoncé brought back the Les Twins, who have accompanied her on multiple tours and performances

The Les Twins, Laurent and Larry, were approached by Beyoncé years ago after a video of them dancing went viral and they appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show . They were invited to perform with Beyoncé at the Billboard Music Awards in 2011, and she took them on the road with her for the Mrs. Carter World Tour, her joint On The Run Tour with Jay-Z, and her Coachella performance in 2018 . Her fans were excited to see the Les Twins back on stage with her for this new tour.

It was gay as hell: An unabashed celebration of the LGBTQ+ community

In the lead-up to the album, Beyoncé dedicated the project to her Uncle Johnny, who battled HIV when she was young. He is referenced in the song “HEATED,” and in the outro of the song, Beyoncé takes on the role of MC at a ball (a queer dance party) where she starts “reading.” All of these influences took center stage at the Renaissance World Tour and will make a strong statement when it comes stateside in July, given the wave of anti-LGBTQ+ legislation being introduced across the country.

BEYONCÉ IS HEATED😭😭😭 #RENAISSANCEtour pic.twitter.com/ddL9s1ByUA — 𝗱𝗮𝗻𝗻𝘆🫧💚 (@beyoncegarden) May 10, 2023

One of the biggest displays of affection for her queer fans came even before the concert started. As concertgoers poured into the stadium, they were greeted with a fake TV error screen, but if you look closely, some of the colors are different. This error screen has the colors of the progress pride flag, which includes colors from the transgender pride flag, as well as brown and black to indicate the greater discrimination experienced by those members of the community. Twitter users joked, “Nashville is gonna be ready to arrest Beyoncé for this, lord Jesus,” referencing the state’s attempt to ban drag shows and broader attempts across the US to infringe on trans people’s rights.

There is also a ball that happens in the show. Beyoncé makes space for her dancers to vogue and dance to her song, “PURE/HONEY.”

Some people might recognize Honey Balenciaga from The House of Balenciaga, which appeared in season two of HBO Max’s Legendary . She was seen voguing on stage with the rest of Beyoncé’s dancers.

@legendaryvoguex HONEY BALENCIAGA @Honey. YOU WILL ALWAYS BE THE IT GIRL #RENAISSANCE ♬ original sound - Legendary Vogue X

As we’ve seen with other tours from major artists like Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, and the 1975, their fervent fan base will keep everyone up to date on all the song changes, new outfits, and surprises that these artists pull out of their bag of tricks on the road. As we’ve seen with Swift’s notoriously sold-out Eras Tour, her fans made sure to give people who couldn’t get tickets a chance to see the tour play out online. Based on how night one played out, it seems like Beyoncé’s fans will be doing the same for those of us stuck at home.

Correction, May 11: The original version of this story misgendered Honey Balenciaga. She uses she/her pronouns.

Beyoncé Announces Renaissance World Tour

By Evan Minsker and Allison Hussey

Beyonc

Beyoncé has announced that she’s touring in support of her latest album, Renaissance . The tour begins with a European leg in May, followed by dates in Canada and the United States that extend from from early July through late September. It’s her first tour since her 2018 co-headlining On the Run II Tour with Jay-Z behind their collaborative album, Everything Is Love , and her first headlining tour since 2016’s Formation World Tour behind Lemonade . The Renaissance World Tour is produced by Parkwood Entertainment and promoted by Live Nation. See all of the dates below.

Renaissance arrived July 29, rising swiftly to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and marking Beyoncé’s seventh album to summit the albums chart. It is the first act in what will be a three-part series, she has indicated.

Beyoncé hinted at her world tour in late October, during the fifth annual Wearable Art Gala, where the raffle included “ a UNIQUE experience ” to see her on the Renaissance tour. Purported images from the auction featured descriptions of the summer 2023 trek. Valued at $20,000, the package included first-class plane tickets, a three-night hotel stay, two concert tickets, and a guided backstage tour from Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles aka Miss Tina. Beyoncé was reportedly in attendance at the gala. In January, she performed at the opening of a new luxury resort in Dubai, but did not play any Renaissance material at the private concert . It was her first live performance since 2020.

Since sharing Renaissance , Beyoncé has made a few adjustments to the album; she replaced ableist lyrics in “ Heated ,” and removed an interpolation of Kelis ’ “Milkshake” on “Energy” after Kelis said she was not informed by Beyoncé and her team that her music was going to be used on the new album. Beyoncé also dropped Honey Dijon and Madonna remixes of “ Break My Soul .”

In 2019, Beyoncé released Homecoming: The Live Album . The next year, she shared Black Is King , a visual album based on her 2019 soundtrack for The Lion King: The Gift . (Beyoncé voiced adult Nala in the CGI remake film.) On Juneteenth of that year, she surprise-released “ Black Parade ,” which would go on to win the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance . At the same ceremony, she also won Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song (for her feature on the remix of Megan Thee Stallion ’s “ Savage ”), as well as Best Music Video (for The Gift ’s “ Brown Skin Girl ”). “ Be Alive ”—her contribution to the King Richard soundtrack—was nominated for an Oscar at last year’s ceremony.

Beyoncé is nominated for nine honors at the 2023 Grammy Awards : Record of the Year , Song of the Year , and Best Dance/Electronic Recording for “Break My Soul”; Album of the Year and Best Dance/Electronic Music Album for Renaissance ; Best R&B Performance for “Virgo’s Groove”; Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Plastic Off the Sofa”; Best R&B Song for “Cuff It”; and Best Song Written for Visual Media for “Be Alive.”

Beyoncé, Cowboy Carter

Beyoncé is reflecting on the cultural impact she made with her country album, Cowboy Carter.

“When you are breaking down barriers, not everyone is ready and open for a shift. But when I see Shaboozey tearing the charts up and all the beautiful female country singers flying to new heights, inspiring the world, that is exactly what motivates me,” the superstar shared in a lengthy statement to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bey introduced her  Cowboy Carter  era with a pair of  country  singles — “16 Carriages” and  Billboard Hot 100  chart-topper “Texas Hold ‘Em” — released during the 2024 Super Bowl. The 27-track album features a star-studded list of collaborators, including  Miley Cyrus ,  Post Malone ,  Dolly Parton ,  Willie Nelson , Linda Martell, Tanner Adell,  Willie Jones ,  Raphael Saadiq ,  The-Dream ,  Shaboozey  and more.

“This album has been over five years in the making,” Bey wrote of the project  on Instagram  earlier this month. “It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed…and it was very clear that I wasn’t. But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive. It feels good to see how music can unite so many people around the world, while also amplifying the voices of some of the people who have dedicated so much of their lives educating on our musical history.”

How ‘Cowboy Carter' Changed My Life: Shaboozey, Brittney Spencer and Tiera Kennedy on Seminal Beyoncé Album

When Beyoncé's "Texas Hold ‘Em" hit the top spot on Billboard's Hot country songs chart, she became the first Black woman to achieve the feat in the chart's 80-year history. The tune-blending elements of country, Western music, pop and soul reigned supreme for 10 weeks as her Cowboy Carter album emerged as a cultural piece of art that sparked think pieces about Black artists reclaiming the genres they created to social media essays about Queen Bey's next-level greatness and virtuosity.

"Texas Hold ‘Em" eventually dipped to No. 2, only to be supplanted by a new artist with a connection to Beyoncé: her two-time Cowboy Carter collaborator Shaboozey. The 29-year-old's anthemic blend of country and rap on "A Bar Song (Typsy)," released two weeks after Cowboy Carter , danced to the top of the charts. And, for the first time in Billboard history, two consecutive Black artists held the No. 1 spot.

Now, Shaboozey has a Top 5 album on the pop charts with his third project, Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going , and he is a shoo-in best new artist Grammy contender. Part of his success can be attributed to "the Bey-effect." Other breakthrough newcomers featured on her historic album - including Brittney Spencer, Tiera Kennedy, Tanner Adell, Reyna Roberts and Willie Jones - have also benefited, from earning first-ever placements on the Billboard charts to soaring streaming numbers and an expanded social media presence.

"When you are breaking down barriers, not everyone is ready and open for a shift. But when I see Shaboozey tearing the charts up and all the beautiful female country singers flying to new heights, inspiring the world, that is exactly what motivates me," Beyoncé tells The Hollywood Reporter in a statement.

Shaboozey - who released his debut project six years ago and launched three songs from his new album before finding chart success with "A Bar Song (Typsy)" - is grateful for the push C owboy Carter has given his music. "It's been pretty great for her to put a lot of eyes on me at one time. Her being able to put a light on me at that time period helped my roll-out. She helped amplify what I was already doing in this space, and it's really amazing [coming from] somebody that is really influential [and a] historic figure," he tells THR . "It's cool to see how far country music has reached since Beyoncé did her project. It's cool to see the music reach all over the world."

On Cowboy Carter , Shaboozey appears on "Sweet Honey Buckin'" and "Spaghetti," which also features country music pioneer Linda Martell, the first Black woman to perform solo at the Grand Ole Opry whose legendary career is getting more attention thanks to her double appearances on Queen Bey's album. Jones lends his vocals to "Smoke Hour II" while Spencer, Kennedy, Adell and Roberts harmonize on a Paul McCartney-approved cover of The Beatles' "Blackbird."

For Kennedy, who moved to Nashville eight years ago and has worked as a songwriter behind the scenes, being part of Cowboy Carter came at a significant time in her career.

"For me it's so much deeper than the numbers. It was a change for my entire life. A few months before [ Cowboy Carter ] happened, I was dropped from my record deal, and I was on this trajectory of having the career that I had always dreamed of and then that was such a bombshell for me," she explains. "And literally, immediately after the album came out my social numbers shot up. Ever since then, it's been steadily growing and people are finding me and finding my music. And it's been really cool, because I think this is coming at a very pivotal time for my career."

Kennedy, who was signed to Big Machine Label Group, released the independent single "I Ain't a Cowgirl" in April and said she's "loosely" talking to major labels about deals. But she adds that Beyoncé emboldened her to create the debut album she truly wanted to make.

"Beyoncé inspired me to make an album that is true to me. She's given me this freedom to put out music the way I want," she says of the project, expected to be released in October. "Before I was trying to make an album that was commercially acceptable instead of making an album that was true to me. I describe my sound as R&B/country and I was a little scared to really dive into that, because I thought I had to be in this one lane. But then Beyoncé comes with this project that has obvious influences from so many different spaces, but country at its core is storytelling. And that is what she's doing in this album - it is most certainly a Beyoncé album and it inspired me to create a Tiera album."

Spencer has been rising on the country music scene and has impressed with her awards show performances, from last year's CMA Awards alongside Mickey Guyton and Madeline Edwards with a song honoring Black hair to April's CMT Awards with Parker McCollum, which was full of passion and went viral on TikTok . Her debut album, My Stupid Life , was released in January and even made Rolling Stone 's Best Albums of 2024 So Far list, published last week.

She moved to Nashville 11 years ago and loves the boost Beyoncé has given her.

"In the middle of Cowboy Carter coming out, I was still on the road finishing up a tour leg with Grace Potter and there were people that came up to me like, ‘Yo, I heard you on Cowboy Carter and I had to come out here.' And of course it made me smile so deeply," she says. "We know everyone loves Beyoncé and it's so cool to watch her fans come up to me or send me a message and say, ‘Yo, I really rock with you because I heard you on Cowboy Carter .' I think it's beautiful."

Outside making history for other acts, Cowboy Carter is continuing to make history for Beyoncé, with some music experts predicting the piece of work could finally win the artist with the most Grammys in Grammy history the coveted album of the year trophy next year.

It has reached the No. 1 spot on the all-genre Billboard 200 albums chart, as well as the country and folk charts. The album, with more than 1.5 billion streams worldwide, set records on Spotify and Amazon Music and debuted at No. 1 in 17 countries.

But Cowboy Carter has also sparked conversations and for Beyoncé, that's more important than going multi-platinum. "There was a time in my life when charts and sales excited and motivated me. Once you have challenged yourself and poured every ounce of your life, your pain, your growth and your dreams into your art, it's impossible to go backward," Beyoncé says. "I'm very grateful and humbled for the extraordinary success of the new album."

"I think that it's done something interesting in country [music] as a whole. I feel like it's broken apart [things] in country music [and] I don't think we'll ever go back completely to how Black country was perceived before this," Spencer adds. "I feel like it cracked the creative code for a lot of us, and it's really cool to watch that happen for me and other artists as well."

Spencer continues, "The conversation of Black country music, it's been growing over the last four years, and it's been a whole lot of groundwork, a whole lot of efforts from a lot of different people, and watching this moment with Cowboy Carter happen, it's done something really beautiful in connecting the fans to the musical space. And I think that's really cool because people feel it. I'm watching Nashville feel it in a real personal way."

Kennedy feels it, too. In addition to "Blackbird," she joined Spencer, Roberts and Adell as background vocalists on Cowboy Carter' s "Tyrant" - "I kept joking that we were channeling our inner Destiny's Child," she reveals, laughing. But, seriously she says, working on the album with the other breakthrough acts has created community amongst them.

"Really through this journey we've gotten closer and it's been really special to see how all of this has affected their careers, and even the artists outside of this project," Kennedy says. "I remember watching an interview recently with Shaboozey - to see that [success] happening for a Black man in country music is absolutely insane. And I think it's exactly what Beyoncé intended to happen with this project."

For Spencer and Kennedy, they are also hoping to pass the torch in country music to the young Black and Brown girls behind them like Beyoncé has done.

"Artistry is hard, no matter who you are, no matter what you look like. It's just hard. And I think once you add those other variables, it definitely adds more challenges to your path. And I would love for a 10-year-old girl to be able to see herself [in country music] and be like, ‘This is normal. I can do this thing. I can follow the actual passions and pursuits of my heart without letting a hard historical truth make me feel like I should change something,'" Spencer says.

"Thank you, Bey, for making a really thoughtful and musical project that has opened doors for a lot of people, many of which we won't know probably for years from now."

For Beyoncé , Cowboy Carter is a continuation of the work she did with 2022's Renaissance , which blends dance, house, disco, R&B and hip-hop and incited discussions about the history of dance music and its origins in Black art and culture. "I'm honored to introduce so many people to the roots of so many genres. I'm so thrilled that my fans trusted me. The music industry gatekeepers are not happy about the idea of bending genres, especially coming from a Black artist and definitely not a woman," Beyoncé tells THR .

Beyoncé and Jay-Z: Malibu renaissance couple

Jay-Z was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Beyoncé in Houston. But Exhibit A of their global entertainment dominance sits squarely in Southern California on the Malibu coast, a gleaming 40,000-square-foot concrete-and-glass mansion that the couple bought last year for $200 million, a record sum for a single-family home in California. Their combined net worth, according to Forbes, is estimated at more than $3 billion.

The power that hip-hop’s premier couple wields goes well beyond the symbolic. They have teamed up on some of the most storied collaborations of the last decade, traversing stadiums across North America, along with two shows in Paris, for the sometimes bumpy On the Run tour in 2014. Four years later, they ran it back with the more harmonious On the Run II, which grossed more than $250 million. In between, in 2016, they rented out the Louvre and outshone the “Mona Lisa” in the six-minute music video for “Apeshit,” in which Beyoncé shunned her signature vocal runs to instead rap bar-for-bar alongside her husband. (The family collaborations have extended to the couple’s children, with eldest child Blue Ivy Carter joining her mother on the 2023 Renaissance world tour.)

They have teamed up on some of the most storied collaborations of the last decade.

The last few years, though, have belonged to Beyoncé, who outpaced Jay-Z — and most of the recording industry — while touring behind the 2022 blockbuster “Renaissance” album and then releasing “Cowboy Carter,” another record-breaking album that saw the artist plant her flag firmly in country music terrain. The Renaissance tour, which was her highest-grossing (and the eighth highest of all time) included four late-summer stops at SoFi Stadium and a concert movie, which former Times reporter Marissa Evans called “a grandiose dare to anyone who tried to ask us to be less of ourselves.” Meanwhile, the “Renaissance” album continued to shake dance floors across the globe, while also earning Beyoncé, 42, a 32nd Grammy , making her the most decorated artist in the history of the awards show.

Even in an “off year,” Jay-Z, 54, still went where few others have gone. Last summer, the Brooklyn Public Library honored him with “The Book of HOV,” a multimedia exhibit showcasing unseen photos, archived artifacts and some of his original masters. Visitors didn’t even have to step inside the library to marvel at his greatness; some of his most timeless lyrics were stamped along the building’s towering exterior. It’s another reason why galaxy-brained entrepreneurs would line up to pay $500,000 for the chance to pick his mind over dinner — even if the man himself says it’d be a fool’s decision.

Who Runs The World? Taylor Swift And Beyoncé Are Now Worth $2 Billion Combined

Self-made women beyoncé and taylor swift continue to break their own records and write “the manuscript” for success., june 7th, 2024, by justin conklin , forbes staff.

ights, camera, and smile,” Taylor Swift sings on one track off her new double album, The Tortured Poet’s Department . She certainly has plenty to smile about, as does fellow pop star Beyoncé. This past year has been phenomenal for both superstars, with hugely popular tours, super successful movies based on those tours and new albums to boot. Those factors lifted their net worths and raised their ranks on Forbes ’ recently released list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women .

The two women have a long friendship, supporting each other’s successes over the years. In 2021, Beyoncé sent Swift a bouquet to celebrate her win of Album Of The Year for Folklore at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards. Most recently, each of them attended the premieres for the films of their record-breaking tours.

Friendship Goals: Beyoncé and Taylor Swift at the premier of The Eras Tour movie in October 2023. Taylor Swift poses at the premier of Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé in December 2023.

Swift is now worth an estimated $1.3 billion–up from $1.1 billion in October and $740 million on the 2023 Self-Made Women list. The boost last fall came as a result of the first leg of her Eras Tour, which added an estimated $300 million to her fortune. The $200 million jump in her fortune since October came thanks to the increased value of her catalog–now worth an estimated $600 million–plus royalties earned from all the play her songs get, in addition to an estimated $55 million in her earnings from the film version of The Eras Tour , which was released in mid-October. Swift now ranks No. 24 on the 100-person strong Self-Made Women list, up from No. 34 a year ago.

The chanteuse continues to dazzle crowds with all new costumes and choreography on her Eras Tour as it moves through Europe, with new music from the double album The Tortured Poets Department, released in April. The 31-track album broke multiple records, including ones she’d previously set: It reached 1 billion streams within five days of its release and claimed the top 14 spots on the Billboard Hot 100–prompting a celebratory billboard in Times Square .

Beyoncé, meanwhile, wrapped up her five-month, 17-country Renaissance World Tour last October with an estimated $100 million in earnings for her. In December she released the film Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé, which documented the creation and execution of The Renaissance World Tour; it pulled in nearly $44 million at the box office. Then in March she released her first country album, Cowboy Carter , which incorporated and sampled musical powerhouses both past and present, including Chuck Berry, Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton and Willie Nelson. Cowboy Carter received over 300 million streams in its first full week of release and broke Spotify’s record (which Swift then broke the following month). Together these milestones helped boost her fortune by $220 million since last year to an estimated $760 million, and moved her up three notches from a year ago on the Self-Made list to No. 45.

Queen B still has more in store. In February, she launched her own high-end (and pricey) hair care line, Cécred; it’s too soon to have made a difference in her fortune but we’ll revisit it next year. And she will share the silver screen with daughter Blue Ivy in Mufasa: The Lion King, a prequel set to hit theaters in late December.

Read on to see how these two dynamic women on America’s Richest Self-Made Women list stack up.

The world remains enamored with both women in a landscape where some celebrities are losing their digital goodwill. Swift saw a 9% increase in Instagram followers while the Beyhive grew 3% on the platform. That was enough for Beyoncé to keep her lead on that platform. She has also nearly doubled her monthly listeners on Spotify, while Swift has claimed the title of number 1 streamed artist on the platform.

For both artists, creating hits may be one of the most notable ways they declare “I Was Here.” Swift’s album count has jumped ahead this year with the release of The Tortured Poet’s Department and last year’s re-releases of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) . Beyoncé has presented her fans with an album full of depth and history in Cowboy Carter , leaving fans with electric anticipation for what act iii may have in store.

Egot status.

Swift added two Grammy awards and a new record to her mantle this year. She’s the only artist in Grammy history to win Album Of The Year four times. But Bey continues her reign as Queen of the Grammys, retaining her crown as the most awarded artist in Grammy history, with 32 awards. Speculation and rumor have abounded since Swift filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on May 11 for “Female Rage: The Musical” after coining the phrase to describe the new additions to The Eras Tour setlist. No word yet on what Swift plans to do with the trademark. Neither star has earned the coveted EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award winner) status yet, but just give it some time.

Donna Kelce is one proud mom.

After her son Travis Kelce sent Swifties into a frenzy by appearing onstage at his girlfriend Taylor Swift’s sold-out Eras tour show on Sunday, Donna rushed to social media to share a clip of the surprise.

Taking to Facebook , the famed NFL mom, 71, reposted a video of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s Eras tour debut.

Taylor Swift is joined on stage by Travis Kelce at the Eras tour.

“TRAVIS KELCE IS ON STAGE SOS,” the caption read, which was posted by fan account swiftiesforeternity.

In the video Donna shared with fans, the NFL star, 34, can be seen picking up the 14-time Grammy winner and carrying her across the stage at London’s Wembley Stadium.

Dressed in a black suit adorned with a pocket square with a matching top hat, Travis carried the “Fornight” singer — who was dressed in all white — to a red couch.

The pair’s outfit selection strikingly resembled a bride and groom — prompting screaming Swifites to descend into chaos.

Swift kicked off a 3-night run of her London performances on Friday — and Travis was spotted attending all three concerts.

The 3-time Super Bowl champ joined two of her backup dancers during the “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” transition, fanning himself during the songwriter’s subsequent wardrobe change.

The 90-strong crowd cheered as the athlete picked his famous girlfriend up as she pretended to faint as part of the skit.

Travis was seen whispering something to the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker as he carried her onstage.

He was then seen setting her down on a red couch before he and two of Swift’s backup dancers fanned her.

Eventually, Swift popped up and took off her gown,  revealing a white sparkling bralette and high-waisted bottoms .

In turn, Travis began to  fan himself with his hands while motioning Swift to perform her hit track from  “The Tortured Poets Department” album .

Tickets for these dates of Beyoncé's tour are now on sale: What fans need to know

where is beyonce on tour now

Tickets to the first of three groupings of  Beyoncé's Renaissance World Tour dates went on sale Monday and, not surprisingly, are doing brisk business for the Grammy legend.

In fact, her first show – May 10 in Stockholm, Sweden – sold out Tuesday, prompting the singer to add an additional Stockholm show on May 11.

Back in the U.S., staggering on-sale dates have prevented ticket sale meltdowns  (so far anyway) as experienced when Taylor Swift put her tour tickets up for grabs last year .

Queen Bey, who Sunday night became the  all-time Grammy champion , announced her tour last week and immediately saw fan demand exceed the number of tickets by 800%.

Group A tickets are now on sale. If you're in Groups B and C, there's still some time to get a seat to what promises to be one of the hottest tours in years.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Here's our detailed look on how to get tickets . For the latest timing details, visit Ticketmaster and find the event info for your desired date and city.

Here's what else fans should know:

How much are Beyoncé tickets?

USA TODAY found face-value ticket prices that ranged from $62 and up. Club Renaissance tickets were closer to $1,000, and some floor seats were $300 and bowl seats were around $500. Ticket prices will vary according to city and venue.

Many artists have begun to give concert promoters the OK to make a portion of each show's best seats subject to Dynamic Pricing , which is an attempt to match demand with the supply of premium seats.

The end result can sometimes be prices that far exceed original face value, as some fans of Bruce Springsteen found when dynamically priced seats for his tour cost upwards of $4,000. Only about 12% of Springsteen tickets were sold this way, his management reported.

When are Group B and C ticket sales?

The Great Concert Ticket Bust

Big musical acts are canceling tours. Are Taylor Swift and Beyoncé the only artists who can sell out shows?

where is beyonce on tour now

It's probably really great to be Jennifer Lopez . Of my running mental list of people whose lives seem absolutely awesome, she easily falls within the top 10. But just because she lives a charmed life doesn't mean things go great all of the time, and, lately, things have been a little less than ideal for the actor/singer/dancer from the Bronx. Her relationship with Ben Affleck is said to be on the rocks, and beyond any personal woes, she's got professional pains, too. Namely, JLo is apparently having a hard time selling tickets.

Lopez announced a tour to support her new album ( and truly wild accompanying movie ), "This Is Me … Now," earlier this year, but she wound up canceling a bunch of dates amid weak sales. She then rebranded the tour as a greatest-hits show, but fans still weren't tripping over themselves to see her. At the end of May, JLo decided to cancel her tour , saying she was "heartsick" but needed to spend time with her family and friends.

In JLo's defense, she's not the only one having trouble packing venues. The rock duo The Black Keys scrapped a planned arena tour and are expected to announce a "revised" set of dates at smaller venues. On social media, fans have noted that some shows from the pop artists Troye Sivan and Charli XCX as well as the band Wallows appear to be undersold. The Latin trap artist Bad Bunny recently pulled out of a show in Minneapolis, reportedly amid weak sales. Coachella lagged this year, and there's been chatter about a variety of acts not hitting home runs sales-wise in some instances and locations, including Cardi B, Justin Timberlake, and Pink.

This doesn't mean the entire concert industry is in disarray. Taylor Swift is unstoppable . As is Beyoncé whenever she is on the road. Acts such as Luke Combs, Zach Bryan, and Olivia Rodrigo are selling a ton. Dead & Company, the successor band to the Grateful Dead, is adding dates at the Las Vegas Sphere. Live Nation, which owns Ticketmaster and rules the roost in the live-events space, had a huge 2023, estimating that 145 million fans attended more than 50,000 events, a 20% increase in fans over the year before. However, not everything is going smoothly for everyone. For some artists, conditions aren't so favorable, and they're struggling to pull in the crowds they anticipated, at least right out of the gate.

"Concert promotion is a betting business. You don't always win. And sometimes, you can be humbled," said Jarred Arfa, the head of global music at Independent Artist Group, whose client roster includes Billy Joel, 50 Cent, and Metallica.

Ticket prices are just astronomical right now.

There are a combination of factors that are dragging down some artists' ticket sales. For one thing, a lot of acts are on tour at the moment. In the wake of the pandemic, artists have been eager to get back out there and recoup lost time and money. Even if the return hasn't been smooth , basically anyone who can be touring is, meaning the space is crowded and oversaturated.

Related stories

"You'd never before had a moment in time where all the horses lined up at the starting gate and they all went out on the road at the same time," said Gary Witt, the CEO and co-owner of The Pabst Theater Group in Milwaukee.

The world really is your oyster right now when it comes to catching a show. But it also means that people have a ton of options, and there is only so much time to go around. Maybe you already saw your favorite artist when they first went on the road after the worst of COVID passed, and you don't feel especially inspired to go see them again. Or you like the band or singer in question plenty, but not enough to go through all the rigamarole of seeing them live. Either way, the once feverish demand for that ticket has probably cooled.

Pricing is also a factor. Anyone who's looked for concert tickets recently has probably been gobsmacked at the cost. Many consumers have been spending through inflation , even if begrudgingly so, but no one's budget is limitless, especially as prices for basically everything — including tickets to live events — remain elevated. Pollstar calculated that the average ticket price for the top 100 tours in the first quarter of this year was $123.25, an all-time. Its data indicates that the average ticket price for a Bad Bunny ticket is $290, for Justin Timberlake $216, and for Nicki Minaj $149.

"Ticket prices are just astronomical right now," said David "5-1" Norman, an industry veteran who has toured with Prince, Green Day, and Alicia Keys. "And if you're bringing a child with you, and then you have to stay overnight and gas and hotel and then food, that stuff adds up."

Just having the big song doesn't necessarily always translate into ticket sales.

Going on tour is always a gamble based on numerous factors including ticket history, streaming performance, email list sizes, and online attention. But there are no guarantees that any of that will translate to hard ticket sales . There are artists who might have massive numbers online but whose fans are only surface-level and don't really care enough to appear at a show. The way artists break out on social media nowadays makes it even harder to figure out whether that might be the case. Having a couple of hits on Spotify or TikTok doesn't mean someone can sell out a stadium.

That's why, in some cases, there seems to be a degree of overshooting. Artists (and their agents and managers and promoters) are trying to sell out bigger venues than they can. A more conservative approach would be to book a handful of big venues and see how it goes before committing to more, but that's not the approach everyone is taking.

"We have some hard-rock artists who you've never even heard of and they sell out everywhere, but they have that loyal fan base," Arfa said. "Just having the big song doesn't necessarily always translate into ticket sales." For every five or six acts that are doing great touring, one is a little clunky, he added. "We're having a couple conversations where we're thinking it may be best to push into Q1 of next year because of a high level of traffic on the road right now."

A spokesperson for Live Nation said in a statement that over 100 million tickets have been sold this year, even with fewer stadium shows touring, and that sales for shows in arenas, amphitheaters, theaters, and clubs are up "double digits" from last year. "Every year some events naturally fall off for various reasons, and in 2024 across all venue types we've seen a 4% cancellation rate – which is flat to last year," the spokesperson said.

Every artist and situation is unique. Bad Bunny may not have been able to sell such high-priced tickets in Minneapolis, but he's sold a ton of other places. JLo seems to have a lot more on her plate than trying to tour right now, and the Black Keys will probably do fine in smaller venues. A representative for Live Nation, which is producing the Troye Sivan/Charli XCX show, said the tour had sold out some dates and was 70% sold across the board, implying there had been misconceptions about sales online. (They said Wallows is selling "well" without providing on-the-record specifics and pointed to public statements from the Black Keys and Lopez, the tours of which Live Nation all produced.) Hiccups are not all about ticket sales, either. Kid Cudi canceled his tour this year because he broke his foot jumping off the stage during Coachella, and many acts aren't specifically saying the problem is sales when they do cancel.

There are strategies acts undertake to try to freshen things up for fans and boost sales, such as combining forces or bringing in special guests. Def Leppard is touring with Journey this year, and last year it toured with Mötley Crüe. There's always good old marketing. Live Nation recently wrapped its "concert week," which offers a variety of tickets at $25 — a good way to push tickets that aren't moving.

There is, of course, a huge issue that undergirds the entire conversation: Buying tickets is supremely annoying. You have to really want to see a show to try to navigate the labyrinthine purchase process. Live Nation-Ticketmaster dominates the market, which critics — including the Department of Justice, which is suing the company over claims of anti-competitive practices — say stifles innovation, allows for unfair markups, and contributes to an overall negative experience for fans . Fees on tickets are confoundingly high and seemingly endless . Bot armies snatch up tickets when they go on sale and flip them on the secondary markets for exorbitantly high prices. (One piece of silver lining here is that this year's lowered demand has resulted in lower resale ticket prices. SeatGeek says the average resale ticket price to attend a summer concert this year is $214; last year, it was $257, though a lot of that was due to Taylor Swift and Beyoncé.)

"The time when customer experiences aren't good is usually when there's a monopoly involved," Witt, from The Pabst Theater Group, said.

JLo, of course, will be fine — she is very rich, famous, and beautiful after all. Her fans will survive and will probably have a chance to see her perform again. But next time she hits the road, they'd be wise to scoop up her tickets fast so "This Is Me … Whenever In the Future" doesn't get axed, too.
