Whether it's a sold-out residency or cabaret-style theater with a live band, there are plenty of choices when it comes to shows and performances. With so many shows to choose from, the entertainment scene along the Las Vegas Strip and beyond can be a bit overwhelming. Theatrical Productions
Musician residencies, comedy shows, variety shows, magic shows, 'o' by cirque du soleil.
Venue: Bellagio Price: From $79 Duration: 90 minutes Best for: Adults and teens (children must be 5 or older to attend)
Celebrating all things theatrical, "O" by Cirque du Soleil incorporates water with synchronized swimmers and divers. The show is even featured in Imagine Dragons' music video for "Sharks." Attendees are treated to a magical, aquatic-infused show where acrobatics bring to life everything from street performances to world-class operas.
Showgoers should note that loud sounds and periods of darkness are part of the performance. To lighten the mood, periods of comedy are woven throughout the theatrics; recent guests say these can be a bit hit or miss, but overall most say "O" is an amazing performance and worth attending. Given the design of the venue, some travelers recommend getting tickets at least 10 rows back from the stage to fully see all of the stunts.
Local tip: Add to the aquatic theme of your experience (and get the perfect selfie in your theater attire) by catching the free Fountains of Bellagio show. This famous display on the Strip happens every 15 to 30 minutes throughout the day until midnight. Check the website for details.

Local tip: For pre-show dining, The Buffet at Wynn Las Vegas is located very close to the entrance of the Awakening Theater with 16 food kitchens and made-to-order options. 'Garth Brooks/Plus ONE'
Courtesy of Caesars Palace
Venue: The Colosseum at Caesars Palace Price: From $173 Duration: 90 to 120 minutes Best for: Adults
The top-selling solo artist in U.S. history is bringing his high-energy stage presence to The Colosseum, with shows scheduled through December 2024. His Vegas residency offers a much more intimate setting than the massive stadiums Brooks recently toured; regardless of the seat, fans are no more than 145 feet from the stage in this 4,300-seat theater. The scale of the venue provides a unique feel, where Brooks, his band and the audience become one.
If you've seen a Garth Brooks concert, you'll recognize iconic singles like "Callin' Baton Rouge," "The Dance," "That Summer" and of course "Friends in Low Places." At times, the band will take a seat so Brooks can play a tune with just him and his guitar. This Vegas show isn't about flashy lights, costumes and pyrotechnics. This residency is about the music, letting fans be close and a part of the show (staff takes requests in the lobby before the performance), which makes each night feel unique and special.
Editor's note: This show has a no-phone policy. Upon entry, you'll be required to lock your phone into a Yondr case while in the venue. There are designated areas where you can have the case unlocked to check your phone. This policy is intended to help you connect with your fellow concertgoers while disconnecting from social media. When the concert is over, everyone gets a QR code to a collection of photos from that night's performance.
Local tip: Have dinner or grab a pint at Gordon Ramsay Pub & Grill. Just across the casino floor from the entrance to The Colosseum, this upscale British pub serves up signature dishes like fish and chips, beef Wellington and sticky pudding.
Lionel Richie: 'King of Hearts'
Venue: Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas Price: From $118 Duration: 90 minutes Best for: Adults

This show gives fans the opportunity to see the award-winning singer-songwriter up close and personal in a theater with no bad seats.
Concertgoers can expect to experience an intimate performance of Richie's classic hits like "Three Times a Lady" and "Easy." In addition to vocals, the talented musician and "American Idol" judge will take a seat at the piano to play favorite tunes the audience will remember.
Local tip: Some of the best restaurants in Las Vegas are located within the Wynn complex. Make a dinner reservation for before the show at SW Steakhouse or Lakeside, where you can dine and watch the magical "Lake of Dreams" show with a 90-foot performance waterfall, puppetry, music and lights.

This residency runs on select dates from May to October 2024.
Local tip: Be sure to book a reservation at Bavette's Steakhouse & Bar. The Vegas location of this timeless Chicago destination blends French flair with steakhouse classics such as perfectly prepared rib-eyes, tasty side dishes and seafood specialties. The restaurant sits steps from the theater but feels worlds away from the casino floor.

Once you’ve found a few shows you’re interested in, you’ll want to reserve tickets as soon as possible, especially since some tend to sell out fast. However, according to Fora travel advisor Mindy Cummings , there’s no need to fret if your desired show is sold out — so as long as you reach out to the right people. She adds, “Your concierge or travel advisor may have alternative channels they can hook you up with.”
Ahead, we’ve narrowed down the very best shows in Las Vegas for everyone — families, groups, couples, and bachelorette parties — including handpicked recommendations from travel advisors.
U2:UV Achtung Baby Live at Sphere
John Katsilometes/Las Vegas Review-Journal via Getty Images
U2’s residency at the massive Sphere marks the first time the band has played together in four years — and it’s drawing people from all over the world. This isn’t your typical concert: The venue is the world’s largest spherical structure, at over 360 feet tall, complete with 580,000 square feet of LED exterior. Inside, you’ll find the world’s highest resolution LED screen, a 160,000-square-foot wraparound display for mind-blowing visual effects that pair perfectly with each song. Keep in mind that tickets to the concert are highly coveted — and pricey — and you’ll have to act fast to snag them before the residency wraps up on March 2.
The Mac King Comedy Magic Show
Courtesy of Matt King Comedy Magic Show
Put simply, explains Fora travel advisor Sara Wilcox , “The amount of evening shows and dinner options in Las Vegas is overwhelming.” For a change of pace — and to beat the heat during the day — snag tickets to the hilarious Mac King Comedy Magic Show at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino . The 70-minute show takes place Tuesday through Saturday at 3 p.m., and, per Wilcox, “caters to adults and children ages five and up,” offering “something for everyone.” Prepare to be captivated by King while he cracks jokes; puts on stunts with his pet guinea pig, Colonel Sanders; and performs impressive magic tricks such as making his head disappear in a paper bag.
Awakening made its grand (re)debut at Wynn Las Vegas in June 2023 with a new plot — plus choreography, costumes, music, and puppetry. The 80-minute performance, narrated by Academy Award-winner Anthony Hopkins, takes place on a massive 360-degree prismatic stage, but that’s just the beginning. The show follows IO, as well as the hilarious duo, Bandit and Boo, as they fight Darkness so that they can add Light back to the world. Along the way, the trio encounters some truly fascinating creatures.

Fora travel advisor Jane Henzerling describes Absinthe as "an irreverent, hilarious, and mind-blowing mixture of ribald, totally inappropriate comedy with jaw-dropping acrobatic acts." The adults-only show, which takes place at Caesars Palace , is hosted by the raunchy Gazillionaire and features plenty of crude humor. "If you're easily offended, don't go," explains Henzerling. "If you're OK with pretty much every topic, you'll laugh uproariously and be endlessly entertained." Finally, it's worth mentioning the show is held in a circus tent, ensuring what the travel pro describes as "an intimate and in-your-face experience."
"O" by Cirque du Soleil
Courtesy of Cirque du Soleil
According to Henzerling, the aquatic-focused "O" by Cirque du Soleil at the Bellagio “offers the highest ‘wow’ factor of any show in Vegas.” She adds, “The technical aspects alone are impressive — the stage transforms into different depths and shapes of bodies of water — and the choreography, athleticism, music, and costume design will take your breath away.” All in all, prepare to be dazzled by the array of acrobats, synchronized swimmers, and divers. Finally, keep in mind this 90-minute show runs Wednesday through Sunday and has a minimum age requirement of five.
Atomic Saloon Show
Courtesy of Spiegleworld
Atomic Saloon Show from Spiegelworld — the same team behind the aforementioned "Absinthe" — transports patrons to the Wild West, albeit with a Sin City twist (think: sexy acrobats and cheeky comedy). The 75-minute show takes place in Madam Boozy Skunkton’s saloon. There’s also a resident singing cowboy and a handyman with some impressive acrobatic skills. The performance, solely for those ages 18 and up, occurs Tuesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. inside the Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian Resort.
The Magician's Study
Chase Stevens/Las Vegas Review-Journal/Tribune News Service via Getty Images
This intimate, adults-only interactive show is held at a secret location (instructions on how to find it are provided the same day). The illusion-filled performance is hosted by a charming magician in his secret study. Upon arrival, guests are greeted by a host before being escorted to the study’s hidden entrance. It’s worth noting that tickets are available by invitation only, and those lucky enough to be invited will receive a code word that unlocks the ticket page.
America’s Got Talent Presents Superstars Live
Fans of the eponymously named hit show will especially love America’s Got Talent Presents Superstars Live , which showcases some of the hottest talent in all of Las Vegas. The family-friendly show, which is put on at the Luxor Hotel & Casino , is comprised of various acts — think magicians, acrobats, dancers, vocalists, and even knife throwers — performed by AGT alums.
Magic Mike Live
Jeff Spicer/Getty Images
Cummings recommends Magic Mike Live at the Sahara for bachelorette party groups, deeming it “a guaranteed good time.” The 90-minute, R-rated show, conceived and directed by Channing Tatum (a.k.a. the original Magic Mike), features a combination of sultry dance routines, acrobatics, comedy, and live music. “You'll laugh, sing, dance, and leave smiling,” says Cummings.
The Beatles Love
Lawrence K. Ho/Los Angeles Times via Getty Images
Beatles fans of all ages should make their way to the Mirage to catch The Beatles Love by Cirque du Soleil, which pays homage to the band’s many accomplishments and hits over the years. The 90-minute show features a combination of real and fictional characters to explore each song’s meaning. Guests can also expect acrobatics, aerialists, and some truly incredible choreography. Tickets are available for those five years and older.
Criss Angel Mindfreak
At Criss Angel Mindfreak , world-renowned magician Criss Angel leaves audience members in disbelief while performing more than 75 different illusions and demonstrations — including his signature levitation move — over the course of 90 minutes. The moving lights, visual effects, and pyrotechnics only add to the magical ambience (pun intended). "Mindfreak" occurs in the evenings Wednesday through Sunday at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino and is recommended for those ages 10 and up.

Top 10 Shows in Las Vegas
There's an undeniable fact about Las Vegas that many people don't realize until they've stepped into the luggage area at McCarran International Airport – there is absolutely nowhere near a shortage of stage performances, shows, and musicals. Large signage looms over the baggage claim, ensuring tourists are well aware of what they can bide their time with during their stay. Billboards line the highways while marquees make sporadic appearances within each resort, guaranteeing that no matter what hotel you're staying in, you'll know of at least a dozen shows. Though New York may have Broadway, Las Vegas could easily take the title of America's “Most Theatrical City”.
You're bombarded with ideas for entertainment, which makes it difficult to decide which ones are worth the money and which ones aren't. The short of it is that every Vegas show is worth experiencing at least once, but, if you're in town for a short period of time, there is a selection of imperative must-see performances. The following shows, in no specific order, make up the “ Top 10 in Las Vegas ”:
- Cirque du Soleil's Zarkana
- Cirque du Soleil's O
- Blue Man Group
- David Copperfield
- Penn and Teller
- Cirque du Soleil's Mystere
- Cirque du Soleil's Zumanity
Kid Friendly
If you're traveling with children, the problem with any sort of “Top 10” list in Las Vegas is that there's no guarantee that at least one selection will have adult themes. Shows like Chippendales and Thunder from Down Under, while certainly belonging of the “must see” label, are far from appropriate for children. If you're looking to keep your child entertained in Las Vegas, you may want to look into the pet-tastic spectacle of the Comedy Pet Theater. Watch in awe as an impressive group of trainers showoff what they're spectacular pets can do. As an adult, you may also find some entertainment in these “ Kid Friendly ” performances:
- V – The Ultimate Variety Show
- Tournament of Kings
- Legends in Concert
If you're parenting a child that you may consider a bit more “sophisticated”, many of the Cirque du Soleil shows offer wonderment and awe that they may enjoy. Simply steer clear of the adult's only Zumanity .
No Kids Allowed!
Speaking of “adult's only”, if you're traveling sans anybody under 21, the Strip is undoubtedly a Mecca for more mature performances. Shows like the aforementioned Zumanity offer an entertaining time perfect for couples looking for a night of intimacy, humor, and sheer sexuality. Nothing could get more sexual than a steamy strip show, though, which is the infamous Chippendales and Thunder from Down Under are big hits amongst the female crowds. These choreographed performances outshine shows at many of Sin City's local strip clubs, but that doesn't mean any sort of girl's night out gathering won't find pleasure in attending:
- Sapphire's Men of Sapphire
- The Rivieria's American Storm
Though it may not be a show in the most technical of senses, the Stripper 101 “course” makes for the perfect addition onto any Las Vegas-based bachelorette party. Through Stripper 101, gals will learn the moves they need to impress their beaus in the boudoir.
Don't worry guys! Though it may seem like the adult entertainment industry is geared more towards the women, there are some popular and some hidden gems to be found. Shows like Peepshow , X Burlesque , Bite , and Crazy Horse will make the perfect add-ons to a guy's night out.
Cirque du Soleil
Unless you've been living under a rock, chances are you have some semblance of knowledge regarding the famed Cirque du Soleil troop. This group is known world wide for their mystical performances, which typically combine fantastical worlds with death-defying acrobatics. Cirque du Soleil's KA remains to be one of the most impressive, with actors soaring over the heads of audience members in any level of seating. Newcomer to the Las Vegas assortment of Cirque shows, Zarkana , transports the audience to a magical world where a magician must search for his ability to perform magic. While most Cirque shows, including Mystere , O , and The Beatles: Love are perfect for the whole family, Zumanity offers an experience only for a 21-and-older crowd. Not all Cirque du Soleil shows revolve around the grand adventures. With Criss Angel's: Believe , audience members watch in awe as the illusionist's mastery comes alive on the main stage.
Any city filled with stage performances is sure to have its fair share of musical hits to offer. While the typical musical is seen as a snooze-fest by certain crowds, those found in Sin City are sure to put a spin on the genre that was never thought possible.
There's one musical in Vegas that is sure to run until the end of time. Combing the best of Sin City's classics and other musical greats within a modern setting, Legends in Concert provides fun for the whole family in a sort of musical variety show. From Michael Jackson to Garth Brooks to the infamous Elvis Presley, Legends in Concert is a show for the ages. Of course, nothing is more classical than bringing back the original quintet to the main stages of good ‘ole Las Vegas. The Rat Pack is Back is a trip back in time to when men like Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, and Joey Bishop were the top dogs in town. Learn the history of the Rat Pack in this musical interlude that will undoubtedly speak to all those old at heart.
Other must-see musicals in town include:
- Leg Warmers
- Jersey Boys
Looking for a Laugh?
Everybody is always looking for something to laugh at. While sometimes the funniest things we come across are purely accidental, there are those stage performers that know just how to tickle our funny bones. Long-running prop comic, Carrot Top , brings his show to the Luxor Resort and provides an evening of adult-only entertainment. The Amazing Johnathan, well not as widely known as his red-haired counterpart, is still up for bringing loads of laughs with his combination of “magic” and comedy.
Being a man is no easy feat, as is seen in the one-man comedy genius, Defending the Caveman . Women get the chance to go deep into the man mind and find out why they do the things they do, while the men in the audience simply get to nod and chuckle at every nuance that comes with being a man. Comedian Kevin Burke brings this real-life issue to the main stage and leaves no stone unturned.
With billboards lining every stretch of freeway in Sin City, it's impossible to forget George Wallace , best known for being dubbed “Mr. Las Vegas”. Wallace entertains audiences for hours on end, providing what one would expect from a typical stand-up routine - except extremely funny.
Comedy is in abundance in Sin City, especially with the following shows in town:
- Anthony Cools
- Rita Rudner
Abracadabra!
Mystifying audiences from around the world is the simple act of magic. Despite countless shows that have discredited certain magician favorites, there are those that are still left in awe when the magical performer levitates his vivacious vixen from an inconspicuous table. It's this wonderment that continues to help shows such as Penn and Teller , David Copperfield , and Lance Burton.
The comedic genius of Penn and Teller lend a hand to their wonderful performances while the more straight laced and veteran Copperfield aims to keep his audience guessing from the first act to the very last. Witness anything form a disappearing assistant to more interactive acts that call for audience interaction. Regardless of what your stance is on magic, you'll leave these shows feeling satisfied and entertained.
Magician Steve Wyrick may not be a name known all throughout Vegas, but don't just the quality of his sow on that one simple fact. Dubbed “Magician of the Year”, Wyrick creates a setlist of magician favorites with a twist. This illusionist works his “magic” to deliver an experience worthy of the Las Vegas main stage.
Dinner and a Show
The idea of dinner theater is one that seems to slowly be dying off - that is unless you're in Las Vegas. You can either sit down with the extremely dysfunctional couple of Tony n' Tina's Wedding and find out what it's like when two pure-blood Italian families get together for the wedding of their beloved Tony and Tina. As the show unfolds, you will chow down on quality food, buffet style.
Marriage Can Be Murder may not be the most uplifting title, but it's a must-see show on your next date. This interactive murder mystery dinner couples comedy with the suspense of solving a crime. Get sucked into a world of believable characters as you undoubtedly get all-too involved in the investigation going on. Do you have what it takes to find the murderer? Or will you be too busy chowing down?
Shows on the Go
Sometimes you're just not into the idea of sitting in a cramped theater for an hour or two while a series of events unfolds on a small stage. Luckily for you, you can still be in for the treat of a Las Vegas show – simply one that's gone mobile. One of Sin City's most infamous mobile shows / tours is the Las Vegas Haunted Tour . While, at its core, it is a tour of all the local haunts on and off the Strip, this haunted tour is headlined by a group that push it over the boundaries into being a show. Pitting tour guides in old, creepy outfits, the Las Vegas Haunted Tour is a spectacle for all interested in the supernatural and Las Vegas' “other” history.
Avoid the Worst
One of the best things about this site is the fact that each show comes with an assortment of user reviews. Who better to trust than those individuals that put their hard earned money into a set of show tickets? By checking user reviews, you'll be able to save your money and put it towards something that really deserves the money. For example, a quick look at the lowest rated shows will ensure that you avoid such mediocrities as Crazy Girls Fantasy Revue at the Riviera. Look a little deeper at the reviews, and you'll find that even impressive sounding shows like Criss Angel's: Believe tend to leave audiences in a dazed stupor.
Not pleased with your experience at a certain show? Let the guests of Exploring Las Vegas know by leaving your own rated review to describe why your experience was less than fulfilling. Never see a dull show again with Exploring Las Vegas.
