Take the Ultimate Virtual Tour of EPCOT

As much as we may like to, we can’t always be at Walt Disney World.  So I’ve put together the next best thing!  Join me for a virtual tour of EPCOT, including the attractions and shows that make this park truly magical.

The Ultimate Virtual Tour of EPCOT

EPCOT was the second park to open at Walt Disney World Resort, debuting to the public in 1982.  Its name represents Walt Disney’s “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow.”  It hosts a permanent World’s Fair, representing technology, nature, culture, and the human spirit.   It currently offers two themed lands:

Future World

World showcase.

You can learn more about EPCOT  here .

Virtual tours are a great way to explore the parks from home.  Set the scene with some Mouse Ears, a few Mickey-shaped treats, and Disney-inspired outfits.  Keep a notebook handy to write down ideas for things you see that you’d love to include in your next visit to EPCOT.

Quick Note: EPCOT is in the middle of an exciting transformation!  In the coming years, new lands and experiences will debut at this park.  For now, I’ve included a virtual tour of its current state.  Just keep in mind that entertainment offerings are subject to change (but they’re still fun to enjoy from home).  For a look at what EPCOT will become, take a look at Walt Disney Imagineering Presents the EPCOT Experience:

Let’s get started!

Future World represents the relationships between nature and technology that carry us forward. Here we can dive under the sea or fly to Mars, and just about everything in between. Enjoy some background music to kick off our tour of this land.

Let’s Take a Virtual Tour of Epcot at Walt Disney World

This post may contain affiliate links where I make a small commission when you purchase something by clicking one of my links.

As an Amazon Associate, I earn with qualifying purchases.

As much as I love walking into the Magic Kingdom and seeing Cinderella’s Castle as I walk down Main Street USA, I have to say that Epcot is hands down my favorite Disney Park at  Walt Disney World Resort .

I could spend 3-4 days of a trip exploring and hanging out at Epcot. Between all the attractions, including my favorite Soarin’ Around the World, the dolphins (yes, Epcot has dolphins in the Living Seas with Nemo and friends), and the World Showcase, there is so much to see and do at Epcot for all ages,  including small children.  Epcot is also where the Disney Princesses live!

Are you ready to take a virtual tour of Epcot? Let’s go!

Epcot Ball Walt Disney World Resort at Night

Let’s start by taking the monorail from the Ticket and Transportation Center.

Now that we are here and in the park let’s go! First up, Space Ship Earth, of course!

World Discovery

From here we are going to head over to World Discovery to ride Test Track, Mission Space and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind.

Mission Space

Pick a side are Orange or Green?

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

World Nature

The seas with nemo and friends.

Ok, time to make our way to the other side of the park to find Nemo and friends. If you get lucky, once you exit the ride, you’ll see the dolphins. If they are out, they are in the tank that is right in front of you on the right as you get off The Seas with Nemo and Friends.

Don’t forget to stop and have a conversation with Crush at Turtle Talk.

The Land Pavilion

After you visit with all of Nemo’s friends, it’s time to head over to the Land Pavilion. First, stop Living with the Land. Some find this boat ride boring, but I love it. I love seeing the greenhouses the most.

Next up, my FAVORITE ride in all of Disney World! I would argue that Soarin’ Over California was better, and I so miss it. But I do love Soarin’ Over the World so so much. We probably ride Soarin’ at least 5-10 times a trip. Yep, the love is that strong.

While you’re in the land, stop at Sunshine Seasons for a creme’ brulee – YUM!

Imagination Pavilion

Next we’re going to see everyone’s favorite purple dragon. That’s right FIGMENT on Journey into the Imagination with Figment!

Take some time to play in Imageworks – The What If Labs after you get off Journey into the Imagination with Figment.

Before we head into the World Showcase let’s take a break and watch the Disney Pixar Short Film Festival.

Epcot World Showcase

Our first stop in the World Showcase is Canada and a short stop to watch Canada Far and Wide. Yes I start in Canada, my favorite things are in France and Japan and this is the quickest way to get there!

Canada at the Epcot World Showcase at Walt Disney World

Next stop, the UK. There is no attraction in the UK, but there is still a lot to do here.

UK in Epcot at Walt Disney World

Explore the Toy Shoppe, play in the red phone booths, and visit Pooh Bear, Alice, and Mary Poppins. Oh, and grab some chocolate from the tea shop; UK chocolate is my FAVORITE of all chocolates.

Our next stop is in France. I love this part of the World Showcase, mainly because of the food.

My two must-haves in France are a Grey Goose Citron Lemonade Slush and a macaroon ice cream sandwich.

Grey Goose Lemon Slushie and Macaroon Ice Cream Sandwich in France at Epcot World Showcase at Walt Disney World

Once you're done stuffing yourself with French pastries, take a break see Impression De France and the Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along.

And don't forget take a ride on Remy's Ratatouille Adventure!

France is also where you can meet Aurora, aka Sleeping Beauty, and Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

The next stop on our list is Morocco. You’ll find yummy food and your favorite Genie along with Aladdin and Jasmine here. Beyond that, there really isn’t much to see

Japan is one of my favorite places to rest in Epcot. There is this little zen like garden tucked back behind Katsura Grill that is the perfect place to take a break.

Katsura Grill is also one of my favorite Quick Service Restaurants at Walt Disney World. I love the California Rolls here and have to get them EVERY trip. The kids love getting shaved ice in Japan also.

Japan at Epcot at Walt Disney World

And I haven’t caught her yet, but I hear watching Miyuki create candy art is a MUST see.

Next up in our trip around the World Showcase the United States. You can catch a show at the American Gardens Theater during events and festivals. So don't miss these!

Also, be sure to check out Voices of Liberty and The American Adventure while you’re here.

The next country on our list is Italy. There isn’t much here except for good food. Stop look around, of course EAT! Italy is also one of the best spots to watch the night show at Epcot!

Between Italy and Germany is this adorable train garden! Stop and watch the trains go round and round.

Epcot German Train Garden

The Biergarten in Germany is a great spot for dinner with the whole family. Our favorite thing is to stop at Karamell-Küche for a caramel and chocolate-covered slice of pineapple. You’ll also find Snow White in Germany, so say hi!

Now we’re off visit Mulan in China!

China in Epcot at Walt Disney World

While in China, be sure to see the Jeweled Dragon Acrobats perform and check out Reflections of China.

Okay, moving on to our next country, Norway, which just so happens to be Elsa and Anna’s home. You can even meet them here at the Royal Sommerhus.

Norway at Epcot Walt Disney World

Disney Princess fans will want to grab a bite to eat here for breakfast, lunch, or dinner at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall with their favorite princesses.

And everyone in the family will love riding Frozen Ever After!

Ok, on to our last country in the World Showcase – Mexico! Be on the lookout for Donald Duck between Norway and Mexico!

Mexico Epcot Walt Disney World

Before heading inside, stop and watch Mariachi Cobre retell the story of Coco.

After exploring the market, you need to ride Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros, aka the Mexican Boat Ride.

Yay! We’ve taken a trip around the world, eaten some delicious food, saw great shows, and rode amazing rides. We have one more thing to do before we leave Epcot for the day. What is that?

Epcot Forever, of course, which is the night show currently playing at Epcot.

Did you have a good time exploring Epcot today? I did! What was your favorite part?

1-Day EPCOT Itinerary

epcot video tour

Our 1-day EPCOT itinerary has the best order to do everything, including the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind roller coaster and Frozen Ever After boat ride. This Walt Disney World plan has step-by-step strategy to avoid waiting in long lines, beating crowds, eating and enjoying World Showcase. ( Updated February 18, 2024 .)

This one-day EPCOT plan has been overhauled several times in the last year, taking into account the partial-completion of World Celebration, Early Entry and Extended Evening Hours, festival crowds, plus paid FastPass–but this itinerary assumes you will not be buying those line-skipping services. If you do plan on spending the extra, consult our 1-Day EPCOT Itinerary with Genie+ and Lightning Lanes .

Then there’s all of the construction and new additions. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure have now been open for a while now, and these big additions plus Frozen Ever After in World Showcase are all big boosts for EPCOT. Which you should prioritize is also dependent upon whether you’re coming from the Crescent Lake resorts or Skyliner gondolas and entering via International Gateway, or the front entrance. We’ll address this in the new single-day EPCOT itinerary for 2024.

Although EPCOT remains in the midst of a massive transformation, most of this is now finished. There are still some walls towards the front of the park around CommuniCore Hall and Plaza, but the gardens area is open and it’s easy to get from the front of the park to World Showcase. Otherwise, the only things that are not done have been delayed indefinitely and may never happen (Play Pavilion, Mary Poppins ride, Spaceship Earth reimagining, and more).

On a positive note, the new Luminous nighttime spectacular and Moana’s Journey of Water have debuted, Figment has also returned as a meet & greet character, and the 2024 EPCOT Festival ‘season’ is now underway. Then there’s the aforementioned Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which opened in the last few years and remain incredibly popular.

With all of that in mind, let’s cover the 1-day EPCOT itinerary…

epcot video tour

Fast-Forward to (Cosmic) Rewind – On the morning of your EPCOT day, at least one person in your party will need to be awake before 7 am. This is because guests with a valid ticket and a Disney Park Pass reservation for EPCOT will be able to access the virtual queue system starting at 7 am on the day of their park visit. This is done outside the park– before you leave your resort hotel, or from literally anywhere.

The virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is popular, but not as difficult as it once was. Our How to Ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind & Virtual Queue Speed Strategy covers everything you need to know–like increasing your chances of success. ( For reasons beyond us, t his virtual queue is still in use. However, we expect it to be retired in the near future.)

If you’re unsuccessful, you can try to join the virtual queue again at 1 pm from inside the park. Pencil Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind into this itinerary whenever is convenient after your boarding group gets called. You have an hour to return to the attraction from receiving the notification that it’s your time to ride. The virtual queue is getting easier to enter, so you shouldn’t have an issue–especially with the 1 pm drop.

At this point, we always join the 1 pm virtual queue for Cosmic Rewind instead of the 7 am one, because this puts our return time in the afternoon when we’re going to be in the front of the park. This approach is not without risk, but unless you’re visiting during a peak week–think Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s Eve, or Easter–the 1 pm virtual queue is usually open for several minutes to several hours.

epcot video tour

Early Entry at EPCOT – Walt Disney World is now offering Early Theme Park Entry, which allows on-site hotel guests to enter EPCOT (or any park) 30 minutes before official park opening time. Early Entry is offered at all 4 theme parks every single day of the week. This complicates strategy, especially for off-site guests. Check out our Guide to Early Theme Park Entry at Walt Disney World for more info.

If you can take advantage of this early admission  and  will be entering via International Gateway, we’d strongly recommend reading our recent  Early Theme Park Entry at EPCOT Strategy for how to tackle the park’s headliners via standby, and why this on-site perk is better than Genie+ and Lightning Lanes at EPCOT.

The following strategy is for official park opening and the remainder of the day, meaning that it assumes you are  not  doing Early Entry. Modify as appropriate if you are eligible for, and taking advantage of, Early Entry…

epcot video tour

Navigate to Norway – In the past, we would not have recommended prioritizing World Showcase, which is mostly shopping, dining, and wandering. However, there are several compelling reasons for doing so right now.

For starters, World Showcase is home to both of EPCOT’s most popular attractions that offer standby lines. There’s also the fact that most guests arrive through the front entrance and do EPCOT from front to back, meaning they do World Showcase in the afternoon. Zig when others zag , and work from back to front, which puts you on the opposite track of crowds. It’s like leaving the city during morning rush hour instead of joining the rat race into town.

epcot video tour

This is why we start our day by heading to Frozen Ever After in World Showcase’s Norway/Arendelle pavilion. This is tied for the most popular ride at EPCOT right now, and as such, you certainly will not be the only guests heading in this direction–to the contrary, a sizable number of guests will navigate to Norway. However, it’ll be proportionally fewer than other headliners–or that’ll be going to Norway later in the day.

By the time you get back to Norway, there’s a good chance that Frozen Ever After will have a posted wait time of 45 minutes or longer. So long as you arrive right at EPCOT’s opening time, you should do it anyway. Wait times for Frozen Ever After only worsen as the day wears on, as most guests do World Showcase in the second half of the day.

Canada - Epcot - World Showcase

Cross to Canada – Beatles vs. Stones. Coke vs. Pepsi. Orange vs. Lime. Canada vs. Mexico.

Walt Disney World fans have long debated which direction is the “correct” way to start a trek around World Showcase. We’re here to inform you that the best approach is actually both . After finishing up in Norway, double back and head to Canada, continuing around World Showcase in that direction. You’ll understand why when you see the next stop…

epcot video tour

Scurry to the Streets of Paris – The other most popular attraction in EPCOT is Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, which is also the newest at Walt Disney World. Due to this “new ride smell,” it is what most guests race to during Early Entry and at rope drop.

Consequently, we’ve observed an interesting phenomenon with a relative lull in wait times about an hour after park opening until around noon. This gap is basically between when the early arrivers have already finished up with the attraction but before the guests who prioritized the front of the park arrive to World Showcase. It’s still early, so this trend could change, but it intuitively makes sense and our expectation is that it’ll continue.

As such, your aim should be to arrive at Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure before lunch. It may not seem like much, but knocking out these two headliners before mealtime is huge, and will set you up for an efficient afternoon.

epcot video tour

The World Showcase is Your Oyster –  Routinely viewed as the culinary epicenter of Walt Disney World, there are a number of unique restaurants in World Showcase. We think the cuisine at many of these is overrated, but it’s still worth being a bit adventurous and eating somewhere unique. Some of our favorite options include Biergarten, Teppan Edo, Spice Road Table, Via Napoli, and Chefs de France.

If you want something more approachable, one of the best counter service restaurants in EPCOT is Regal Eagle Smokehouse. It has a variety of crowd-pleasing BBQ, plus salad and even plant-based options. (We’ve eaten everything on the menu–read our Regal Eagle Smokehouse: A Review of All Foods, But Mostly BBQ Meats for thoughts on what to order.)

Alternatively, if you have to head back to the front of the park for your Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind return time, dining at the new Connections Cafe & Eatery isn’t a bad option. Both of these have very ordinary menus that are simple and straightforward, but surprisingly good.

epcot video tour

American Adventure – Right next door to Regal Eagle Smokehouse is Epcot’s best attraction. American Adventure is a powerful Audio Animatronics show montage stage featuring key moments in American history.

American Adventure is so good that it made our list of the Top 10 Disney Theme Park Attractions . Skipping it would be distinctly unpatriotic.

epcot video tour

_______ Around the World – The distance around World Showcase is roughly 1.25 miles. If you follow this plan, that means you’ll be walking at least 2.5 miles (you’re likely to walk over 10 miles in a day at Walt Disney World, so this is nothing), as this is going to call for 2 laps around World Showcase. It’s worth it.

During this first lap, we suggest trying Drinking Around the World or Snacking Around the World . Or try both for a different form of the “Dopey Challenge.” We recommend a snack or drink at every stop for the balanced approach, but hats off if you can do more. Along the way, consider breaks for Reflections of China and Canada Far & Wide.

epcot video tour

Around the World Pit Stops – If it’s ‘Festival Season’ at EPCOT (which basically encompasses the entire year save for a few weeks), you should stop to enjoy either the food & drink booths or special offerings during these events.

Here are the various events along with their approximate annual timeframes:

  • EPCOT International Festival of the Arts – Mid-January through Presidents’ Day
  • EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival – Beginning of March through Independence Day
  • EPCOT Food & Wine Festival – Late Summer through Saturday before Thanksgiving
  • EPCOT Festival of the Holidays – Black Friday through December 30

epcot video tour

World Showcase Atmospheric Acts – It should be obvious from the above entries, but we cannot overemphasize the importance of slowing down and taking your time to enjoy World Showcase. There should be no sense of urgency for the middle portion of the day. Lines for attractions at the front of the park are at their longest, making this a great time to kill time–explore the nooks and crannies, engage with the architecture, browse shops, and–as discussed above–eat!

Most importantly, take some time to stop and see the atmospheric entertainment acts. Among other performers, this includes Voices of Liberty (American Adventure), Matsuriza Taiko Drummers (Japan), Command Performance (United Kingdom), Les Raftsmen (Canada), Sergio the Italian Clown Juggler, and more. Note that performers can (and do!) change seasonally, as do showtimes. For schedules, we highly recommend consulting the My Disney Experience app on the day of your visit.

epcot video tour

Maneuver to Mexico – Around mid-afternoon, you should notice crowds starting to build in World Showcase. Now is the time to double back towards the front of the park. On your way out, make a stop inside the Mexico pavilion to do the Gran Fiesta Tour boat ride.

If you’re planning on enjoying a drink or few, now is also a good time to stop at La Cava del Tequila or Choza de Margarita for a drink. Both locations might already have lines, but those will only be worse later.

epcot video tour

Back to the Future World – Once you’ve “finished” World Showcase, bounce back to the front of the park, formerly known as Future World. This is the counter-intuitive approach. Most guests do EPCOT from front to back, meaning the wait times for attractions at the front of the park are longest at the beginning of the day and decreasing in the afternoon.

Order of attractions doesn’t make a huge difference in Future World (with a couple of big exceptions), but our recommended approach is:

  • Journey into Imagination with Figment
  • Meet Figment
  • Meet Minnie & Mickey Mouse
  • Spaceship Earth
  • The Seas with Nemo & Friends (make sure to check out the aquatic life, especially the majestic manatees)
  • Living with the Land
  • Soarin’ Over California
  • Moana’s Journey of Water
  • Mission: Space

epcot video tour

That involves a bit of backtracking; feel free to reduce that if you want to minimize steps.

The first important thing is to make sure Soarin’ Over California and Test Track are towards the end. Those are the two attractions that will have the longest lines earlier in the day. By early evening, both lines should be much shorter than they were in the morning.

Moana’s Journey of Water is typically less busy in the evening, and it’s a great  spot to watch the sunset and see day transition to night at EPCOT. Even if you stopped by earlier in the day, it’s worth taking a few minutes for a sunset stroll.

epcot video tour

Dinner – After returning from the red planet in Mission: Space, head above Earth for dinner at EPCOT’s newest restaurant. See our Photos & Video Inside Space 220 Restaurant as well as our Space 220 Restaurant Review that looks at whether the food is worth the price tag.

In an ideal scenario, you’d book an Advance Dining Reservation in World Showcase about 2 hours before the fireworks, with dinner wrapping up shortly before that starts. If orbiting above Earth isn’t your speed, there are great options in World Showcase.

Spice Road Table is our top pick in World Showcase right now for cuisine and open air atmosphere . If this sounds outside your comfort zone, we’d encourage you to try it despite that–there are some surprisingly approachable menu options. If Spice Road Table doesn’t sound appealing to you consider Via Napoli , which serves the best pizza in Walt Disney World .

epcot video tour

Impressions de France – This is the attraction we experience most in EPCOT, and is one of our picks for “ Underrated Walt Disney World Experiences. ” The score is hauntingly beautiful, and the imagery as you swoop through different parts of France is stunning.

There are several EPCOT films, but this is the only one that’s truly a must-do. (Be sure to check out the “Tale as Old as Time” exhibit in the lobby beforehand, too.) Unfortunately, it only is shown the last 2 hours of the day, so you might not have time for both Impressions de France and the fireworks.

epcot video tour

Fireworks Finale – EPCOT has had three different nighttime spectaculars in the last few years, with the latest being the brand-new Luminous: The Symphony of Us. This debuted late last year and should remain incredibly popular for the entirety of 2024 and into 2025. It will be much more competitive than viewing EPCOT Forever, so we recommend staking out a spot at least 30 minutes in advance.

For planning purposes, consult our Best EPCOT Fireworks Viewing Spots posts for a list of the best spots and other tips for viewing the nighttime spectaculars.

epcot video tour

EPCOT Post Show: World Showcase Stroll – Since the restaurants in World Showcase make dining reservations until park closing and it takes some guests over an hour after park closing to finish their meals, you have over an hour to linger and slowly make your way out of the park after the park closes. Take full advantage of this with a leisurely walk out of the park. Trust us, it’s worth it.

If you’re able to do even 75% of the things on our single-day EPCOT plan of attack, you are pretty much assured of having an excellent day in the park. If you do have two or more days to enjoy EPCOT, or want to experience other attractions besides those we’ve listed, make sure to check out our EPCOT Park & Attractions Guide , which rates and reviews all attractions.

Hi, I’m wondering how realistic this itinerary would be for Christmas week please? thanks

We followed your plan of doing world showcase first, and were very disappointed. None of the cultural entertainment happened in the morning at all (live nusic, dancing, etc.) We are older and needed to minimize backtracking. This was our first and only trip to Disneyworld, so we missed what we felt was the main point of the cultural experience of World showcase. We went in July, so the heat and humidity did us in. We knew that would be an issue, but it was the only time we could go. By 5, we left exhausted and didn’t come back for the evening. With trying to minimize steps and backtracking, we still put in 20,000 steps that day.

Please update your blog with the info that if you choose to do the world showcase first and don’t plan to return later in the day, you will miss all of the outdoor cultural entertainment.

We are arriving February 4th. It seems like the virtual cue will be retired shortly before then, do you have a possible strategy for when the virtual cue is gone. We are also eligible for EMH. Thanks

' src=

We just tried this, but Frozen broke down and did not open for the morning. My advice is that, if you are going to the trouble of rope-dropping with young children, go to Ratatouille first. It’s no fun to start the day so early, be at the front of the line for Frozen, wait, and then be told it’s closed, rush over to France and still hit a 70 minute wait at 8:15. When we roped-dropped Animal Kingdom this week, Flights of Passage and the Safari broke down, too. Not sure what’s up with the parks. Good luck everyone!

The wait for Remy ended up being 45 minutes in reality. Not too bad.

' src=

Great article! Thank you. Do you have a follow up on taking advantage of extra magic hours at the end of the day (9-11pm) at Epcot?

' src=

Seems counterintuitive if coming from international gateway to bypass Remy in France to go to Norway for frozen first. My gut says do Remy first then go counter clockwise around showcase to Norway. Does this make any sense? Thanks for any input or further advice.

' src=

The beauty of a touring plan is not to do what everyone else does. Unless you’re right at the front of the gate, most of the people in front of you at the gate will also be in front of you in line for Remy’s. Skipping that line to be one of the first at Frozen and doubling back once the crowd has dispersed makes sense from touring plan perspective.

' src=

I would be interested to read a non thrill seeker itinerary for the Disney and universal parks, or at least one that only includes the most themed thrill experiences.

' src=

Do you have an itinerary for 1/2 day in Epcot with kids? We are doing Epcot in the morning and animal kingdom in the afternoon.

' src=

Oh my goodness, that sounds exhausting. We did Epcot with 3 kids and it was super hard to get stuff done with even a full day. Ages 5, 2, and 1. And we weren’t outnumbered there were 6 adults.

' src=

This was very helpful advice as first timers! We went on Weds March 2 and managed to fit in all of the rides that interested us (only didn’t get to beauty and the beast sing-along and some character meetings such as the Crush Q+A). A few comments from our experience in epcot- test track didn’t have a shorter line at the end of the day, rather it stayed a pretty constant 50-60 minute wait throughout the day. However, test track also had a ‘single rider’ option, for those single visitors or groups that didn’t mind separating in order to save time… It saved us a good 40 minutes of wait time (at least). Another comment- during the ‘regular lunch time’ (I’d say around 11:45-12:45) it seemed like some ride wait times might have decreased a bit… Something to keep your eyes open for if you can hold off and eat a bit later. Another comment that is more relevant in the ‘where to watch harmonious’ post- we tried point #2-japan on the second floor, and the torii gate very much got in the way of the show. We ended up moving down to the ground floor which was better, but we would have been better off just going somewhere that didn’t have any structure in the way. Thanks for the advice!

' src=

Hi, do you think once Guardians opens You will recommend Genie+ ? We are planning to visit the week after Thanksgiving this year. Thank you!

' src=

Hi Andrew Bundschuh, I’m confused but would appreciate your help. If Epcot opens at 10am but 9:30am for early park entry, how did you get on Test Track at 8:30am?

' src=

We visited Epcot for 2 days this week. If you are staying at a Disney resort, early entry can be great. go to Frozen or Test Track from the front entrance, or Remy if you are entering from the International Gateway. We walked right on Test Track at 8:30. Also since we were already shelling out for a Disney Resort, we could buy ILL at 7:00 which got us a spot on Remy. Also, at 8:40, while we were waiting for Harmonious, we noticed the line for Remy was down to 20 minutes.

' src=

STOP THE PARK HOPPER!!!! While you plan your day to hit the busiest rides at the end of the day you are hit with the surprise that everyone has just came from another park on the second half of their day and ramped up your wait times like it was a new day again! This needs to stop to make sure people who pay to get into the park have a chance to ride all the rides!

Park hopper people not only pay to get into the park, they pay extra to get into another park as well. That said, Disney has clearly incentivized people to do a full day at Epcot because the second GotG VL opens at 1p, but you can’t hop to Epcot until 2p. So maybe that nugget will bring you some happiness.

EPCOT touring plans and Genie+ suggestions (minimize your waits!)

EPCOT touring plans and Genie+ suggestions (minimize your waits!)

Worried about long waits for EPCOT attractions?

Having well-organized touring plans that make good use of Genie+ is key to avoiding long line waits during your Disney World trip, including at Epcot.

Below, find EPCOT touring plans , along with Genie+ suggestions, to make sure you’re maximizing your time.

Let’s take a look…

In this article

EPCOT Rides and Attractions

EPCOT used to be broken up into 2 main areas: Future World and World Showcase, but as a part of all of the updates being done there, Disney changed things up a bit.

Now, EPCOT is divided into 4 worlds:

  • World Discovery  (formerly part of Future World)
  • World Celebration  (formerly part of Future World)
  • World Nature  (formerly part of Future World)
  • World Showcase

Not counting the entertainment that you can see in the World Showcase, there are about 19 total rides and shows at EPCOT .

In this guide, we’re first going to give you a list of all the available major attractions you’ll find at EPCOT. And don’t worry, if you need additional information, we’ll link off to more detailed descriptions of each.

Next, we are going to give you a brief description about Genie+, including why we sometimes recommend it for EPCOT. This is important to understand before you start creating your touring plans.

Then, we’ll dive into the meat and potatoes of this post – the touring plans. You can use them as is or, just use them as a basis to customize a trip that is perfect for you and your traveling companions.

Note: This list only includes characters who offer Genie+. Please refer to our Complete Guide to Characters at EPCOT for the full list of available character meet-and-greet opportunities.

  • Get more info on all the attractions below in our Complete Guide to EPCOT Attractions

Genie+ basics

If you are already familiar with Genie+ feel free to skip down to the next section. Otherwise, keep reading and we’ll go over a brief overview. If all of this is new to you, though, we recommend you check out some of our other Genie+ resources to help get you all caught up on how this service works.

Disney Genie+ is the new FastPass+ system at Walt Disney World . Like the old FastPass+ system, Genie+ lets you cut the waits at the most popular attractions by allowing you to enter through a special line called a Lightning Lane (bypassing the longer Standby Line).

But, unlike the old FastPass+ system that was free, Genie+ costs extra; it uses a date-based pricing system, with busier times of the year being more expensive.

Currently, Genie+ starts at $15 per ticket , per day (plus tax) but the price has gone all the way up to $39 per ticket . Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to know ahead of time how much Genie+ will cost on the day of your visit. Instead, you will see the price when you go to purchase it inside the My Disney Experience app.

Why we sometimes recommend you use Genie+ at EPCOT

Genie+ will make touring EPCOT easier during busy times of the year , but if you are traveling during a less busy time of the year, and you don’t mind standing in some lines (and possibly skipping breaks) you can get a lot done without it.

With Genie+ you will definitely find it a lot easier to get everything accomplished in 1 day, though.

Consider also purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane selection

EPCOT currently has 1 Individual Lightning Lane attraction:

  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind:  $14-$17

If it is in the budget, purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane for Cosmic Rewind will guarantee you a ride. Plus, it is the only way you can select the time you ride.

If you want to ride twice (or if you want to save some money), or you don’t care what time of day you ride, you can also try for a spot in the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Virtual Queue . The virtual queue is free.

Best Times to Ride Graphic To Save to Your Phone

We have a handy graphic that can help you see the recommended times to visit the attractions at EPCOT.

We suggest you save this image to your phone, so you can reference it on your trip:

How touring works with Genie+:

If you are purchasing Genie+, you’ll often hear people talking about “stacking” and “churning”.

The reality is that on most days – no matter how busy it is – you’ll find yourself doing both .

You’ll see what that looks like in the touring plans we have provided below , but keep reading to learn what stacking and churning actually mean .

Stacking simply means prioritizing the grouping of Genie+ reservations together for later in the day when the standby lines are the longest.

Some people like to stack for late morning or early afternoon, but you can also stack reservations for the evening. Stacking works well if you are planning to spend all day in 1 park, but it is also a popular technique to use if you are planning a late start or if you are hopping to a different park.

Stacking Genie+ reservations works best during less busy times of the year, when Genie+ reservations at most attractions last the longest.

This includes anytime Genie+ can be purchased for less than about $25 per person, per day.

Here’s how stacking Genie+ reservations works:

  • At 7 a.m., book an attraction that runs out of Genie+ reservations the fastest, regardless of what that return time is. You can see what we recommend in the graphic above.
  • Use Early Entry to ride at least 1 of the available popular attractions (onsite guests only)
  • Plan to ride several things in the first couple of hours without Genie+, unless, of course, your first Genie+ return time is during those first 2 hours. If it is, ride it as soon as possible, and then select your next G+ for an attraction that has the return time already pushed into the time of day you are trying to stack for. (Early afternoon until evening works best.) The goal is to stack your Genie+ reservations back-to-back. They can overlap, just make sure you allow enough time to get from one attraction to the next.
  • As the standby lines build, ride some of the “anytime” attractions listed in the graphic above or meet characters and continue selecting Genie+ reservations with return times as close to your already stacked Genie+ reservations as possible.
  • When the time comes, start using your stacked Genie+ reservations, keeping in mind that it may be possible to fill any gaps by churning attractions with Genie+ reservations remaining.

Churning simply means focusing on snagging Genie+ reservations as close together as possible. You should still prioritize the most popular attractions, but your primary focus is selecting rides with return times as close as possible to the current time, vs. stacking them up for later in the day.

Churning Genie+ reservations works best during the busiest times of the year, when Genie+ reservations run out at all attractions faster and when the lines for even the least popular rides are long.

This includes all major holidays and anytime Genie+ prices creep up over $25-$30 per person, per day.

Here’s how churning works:

  • At 7 a.m., book an attraction with a return time as close to park opening as possible
  • Use Early Entry to ride at least 1 of the recommended attractions (onsite guests only)
  • Continue selecting Genie+ reservations with return times as close to the current time as possible, filling in gaps by riding “anytime” attractions or meeting characters
  • Eventually, you may find that all return times are pushed several hours out. Make sure to prioritize your must-dos and begin stacking return times for later in the day.
  • Keep an eye on the wait times for popular attractions you were unable to get a Genie+ reservation for, and jump in those lines once they drop to an acceptable level.

IMPORTANT : We’ve included example return times for G+ reservations in the touring plans below, but, keep in mind that you can NOT select your return times for Genie+ . Depending on the time you make your selections and the overall crowd levels, your return times may be earlier or later.

For that reason, you’ll need to stay flexible when you get to the parks and be ready to pivot or adjust your touring plan on the fly.

Early Entry at EPCOT (Arrive before park opening)

To make the best use of your time, arrive at EPCOT about 45 minutes before park opening .

If eligible, you’ll typically be allowed in about 30 minutes before Early Theme Park Entry begins.

Guests entering at the International Gateway are typically held near the bridge to France, while the exact spot(s) where guests are held at the front of the park can vary.

At EPCOT, there are 3 attractions we recommend you head towards first for Early Entry:

  • Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (if entering at the International Gateway)
  • Frozen Ever After (if entering at the front of the park)
  • Test Track (if entering at the front of the park)

Which one you should choose will ultimately depend upon how you plan to spend the rest of your day touring. Keep reading for help with that.

Depending on which attraction you are headed to first (Frozen Ever After, Test Track, Remy’s, etc.), there will likely be different holding areas for guests. Make sure you go towards the one that is on the path to whatever attraction you are heading to first. If you are unsure where that is, there will be Cast Members nearby to assist you.

How to get to EPCOT for Early Entry

Here’s our advice on what time you should be heading to the parks based upon how you plan to get there. If your goal is to be at the very, very front, we recommend you err on the side of following the earlier times listed:

While we used to recommend arriving at the bus stop 60 to 75 minutes before Early Entry begins, after testing the timing out many times, we now recommend 90 minutes. That 90-minute window is especially important if you:

  • want to be on the first bus (which we recommend), or
  • if you are staying at a large resort like Art of Animation, Pop Century, or the All-Stars, or
  • if you are staying at a resort with multiple internal stops, like Caribbean Beach or Coronado Springs.

Expect the first bus of the day to arrive between 1 hour to 75 minutes before Early Theme Park Entry starts . The goal is to be on the first bus of the day, and the lines for the buses will get very long, very fast. Arriving 90 minutes before Early Theme Park Entry will get you to the front of the pack, and likely on that first bus.

When traveling by car, plan to arrive at the parking lot entrance about 70 minutes before Early Theme Park Entry. If the parking lot booths are not open at that time, you should be able to just wait for them to officially open up. But, don’t show up too early because they may not let you wait for the booths to open and instead will force you to turn around and come back closer to opening.

  • Read more about Parking at Disney World

For the Disney Skyliner , aim for 75 minutes before Early Theme Park Entry begins if you don’t have to transfer, and 90 minutes if you do. Both the Hollywood Studios and Epcot lines start up about 1 hour before Early Entry begins.

Plan to get to your monorail stop about 60-75 minutes before Early Theme Park Entry. For reference, the Resort Monorail Loop goes:

  • Transportation and Ticket Center
  • Polynesian Resort
  • Grand Floridian Resort
  • Magic Kingdom
  • Contemporary Resort

If traveling by boat, 60-75 minutes before Early Theme Park Entry is probably good.

Walking? You’ll have it the easiest!

Guests that walk are typically allowed to line up at the tapstiles around 60 minutes before the park opens for Early Theme Park Entry. If you want to be at the front of the pack of the walkers, plan to arrive ahead of that. (If you arrive before they begin allowing people to line up at the tapstiles, you’ll be held back by security.)

Important things to know about touring EPCOT

  • Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is extremely popular, but it is only available via Virtual Queue or by purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane Selection. If you wish to ride it, make sure you read up on how those work.
  • EPCOT has 2 entrances. Guests with easy access to the International Gateway Entrance (either by walking or via the Skyliner) will have an easier time rope dropping Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure .
  • EPCOT hosts nearly year-round festivals . Some festival offerings (like the Candlelight Processional) are extremely popular and will require a chunk of your park touring time. Make sure you review our Festival Guides to see if you’ll need to add in extra festival time to your touring plan.
  • Festival of the Arts
  • Flower and Garden Festival
  • Food and Wine Festival
  • Festival of the Holidays
  • Genie+ can come in very handy if you are traveling during a busy time of the year. Make sure you review our Genie+ recommendations before you make your first selections
  • EPCOT Genie+ Priorities (book these first!)

epcot video tour

  • 2 of the main attractions here – Soarin’ and Test Track – both have 40″ height requirements , but they’re fairly mild and non-scary (as long as your child can handle a car traveling at a high speed for a lap around the track on Test Track). If your child is at least 40″, it may be worth giving them a try, but maybe skip Mission: Space which has a height requirement of 40″ and could scare some kids.
  • Things that might scare little ones
  • If you don’t mind having your party split up, Test Track has a single rider line that can significantly cut down your waits there.

5 Top Epcot World Showcase Touring Tips

world showcase - epcot

Navigating Epcot’s World Showcase is akin to circumnavigating the globe in a single day—an exhilarating yet daunting venture that requires a well-crafted strategy.

As you step into this cultural mélange, you’ll want to be savvy about your approach to avoid the common pitfalls of aimlessness and exhaustion.

Start your journey with the knowledge that the early bird catches the best of Epcot; arriving prior to the crowds in the morning can make or break your experience.

You’ll also need to be selective about which pavilions to linger in and which to pass through, balancing your time between immersive attractions and the temptation of international cuisines.

Remember to leverage your dining options to secure a moment of respite, and don’t underestimate the ebb and flow of the crowd as you weave your way through the day.

As the sun begins to dip, you’ll want to find the perfect spot for the evening’s spectacle, but how you arrive at that moment—refreshed and ready to be awed—is a tale of strategy and insider knowledge.

Stay tuned to uncover these pivotal tips that could transform your Epcot adventure from a mere walk in the park to a journey brimming with efficiency and wonder.

Optimize Morning Arrival

To maximize your Epcot experience, arrive early and head straight for the high-demand attractions, utilizing Early Entry if available to beat the usual throngs of enthusiastic park-goers. With the sun barely up and the World Showcase lagoon reflecting the soft morning light, take advantage of the tranquil atmosphere to enjoy a serene start to your day.

If you’re staying at a Disney World hotel, make the most of Early Entry. This precious head start allows you to be among the first to soar on Soarin’ Around the World or race through the digital landscape of Test Track and Mission. You can even venture into the wintry wonderland of Frozen Ever After before the queues swell.

As the park officially opens, you’ll notice the energy at Rope Drop – a perfect time to briskly walk towards your next destination. If you’ve entered through the International Gateway Entrance, the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros is a charming choice, often overlooked in the morning rush.

Prioritize Must-See Pavilions

As you weave through Epcot’s tapestry of cultures, prioritize must-see pavilions like Mexico, Norway, and France to capture the essence of their unique attractions, savory dining, and vibrant entertainment.

Each pavilion in the World Showcase is a gateway to another land, but your touring plan can’t miss the enchantment of the Mexico Pavilion. Here, you’ll find the spirited Gran Fiesta Tour and the hidden gem, La Cava del Tequila, for an authentic taste of Mexico.

Norway beckons with its popular ride, Frozen Ever After, which draws both the young and the young at heart. Make this a priority early in your visit to avoid the long lines that are as certain as Olaf’s love for summer.

Don’t let the day slip away without strolling through the France Pavilion. Immerse yourself in its romantic ambiance and indulge in its culinary delights. And keep an eye on the Disney Experience app for showtimes to catch the impressive American Adventure presentation.

If time is on your side, venture further to the vibrant performances in China and the majestic vistas in Canada. Epcot’s World Showcase is a feast for the senses, ensuring every visit is as memorable as it’s diverse.

Utilize Dining Reservations

Secure your spot at Epcot’s sought-after eateries by making dining reservations well in advance through the My Disney Experience app, ensuring you don’t miss out on the park’s renowned culinary experiences. As you craft your EPCOT touring plan, consider these insider tips for an unforgettable gastronomic journey during your Disney World trip:

  • Align your dining reservations with your World Showcase itinerary to seamlessly blend exploration with exceptional meals.
  • Aim for off-peak dining times at popular spots like Spice Road Table and La Hacienda de San Angel to enjoy a more relaxed atmosphere.
  • Book a window table at Hacienda de San Angel or San Angel Inn for a prime view of the evening spectaculars.
  • Use Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar for an impromptu break to savor small plates and an extensive wine selection.

Navigate Crowds Strategically

Effortlessly dodge the densest throngs by timing your Epcot adventures to hit popular attractions when the masses thin out in the early morning or late evening. As you craft your EPCOT itinerary, remember that mornings are golden for enjoying the serenity of World Showcase. Stroll through the quiet streets, and catch the first showings of Impressions de France or Reflections of China without the midday bustle.

Plan your day to navigate crowds strategically. Use the morning to explore Future World, then as lunchtime approaches, transition around World Showcase. Here, you can enjoy international flavors and cultural delights, perhaps even joining the fun of drinking around the world—if that’s your cup of tea.

Keep an eye on the My Disney Experience app. Wait times for attractions are dynamic, and catching a popular ride during a lull can feel like winning the Disney World crowd lottery. And if you’re visiting during a special event like the Festival of the Holidays, anticipate larger crowds and plan accordingly.

Lastly, if you’re a guest at a Disney resort, take advantage of Extra Magic Hours. This precious time allows you to experience Epcot’s magic with fewer guests, transforming your visit into a more personal and enchanting adventure.

End With Evening Spectaculars

Cap off your Epcot adventure with a dazzling display of fireworks and music by staking out your spot for the evening’s spectaculars well before the show begins. Whether it’s the enchanting ‘Harmonious’ or the nostalgic ‘Epcot Forever,’ these nightly events transform the sky above the World Showcase Lagoon into a vibrant canvas of color.

Here are a few tips to make the most of your evening:

  • Arrive Early: For the best view, find a spot at least 30 minutes in advance, when anticipation buzzes around the World Showcase.
  • Dine with a View: Book a table service meal for the end of the day at one of the World Showcase restaurants. You’ll be eating or drinking around the world while securing a prime spot.
  • Change Perspectives: Watch from unique locations like the Mexico pavilion or the bridge between France and the UK for a fresh take on the spectacle.
  • Leverage Extended Hours: If you’re staying at a deluxe Disney resort, take advantage of Extended Evening Hours to wander the World Showcase with fewer crowds after the official park hours.

As the last hour ticks away, immerse yourself in the culmination of your Epcot experience. Between the bursts of fireworks and the harmonies of global anthems, feel the spirit of international celebration at this beloved Official Park festival.

Things To Do

Theme parks, disney world, disney world | epcot: ‘encanto’ show involves kids, dancing, bouncy ‘bruno’ song.

"Celebracion Encanto" is a limited-time stage show that has debuted at Epcot. It is presented at the new CommuniCore Plaza stage. (Dewayne Bevil/Orlando Sentinel)

“Celebracion Encanto” can now be seen at the theme park’s CommuniCore Plaza Stage. It features music and characters from the 2021 film “Encanto,” the tale of a family in Colombia with a magical house. It also put a song about not talking about Bruno — written by Lin-Manuel Miranda — into an earworm and chart-topper.

Where to go

The outdoor stage adjacent to the new CommuniCore Hall is home to “Celebration Encanto.” You may read this as code for “wear sunscreen,” but theme parkers should be doing that anyway. The stage is covered, but the area where the audience stands is not.

CommuniCore Hall is part of the new-ish World Celebration neighborhood and the symbolic last piece of the “transformation of Epcot” puzzle. Visitors had previously seen the building’s triangle-heavy facade over construction walls. (Stylistically, think of it as Spaceship Earth and Journey to Imagination had a baby.) It’s just beyond the Walt the Dreamer statue added last year.

The show is available multiple times daily into the afternoon (show times on the My Disney Experience app ), and a live Latin groove band takes over the space in the evening, Disney says.

What you’ll see and hear

The show begins with a pair of energetic hosts plus four “cousins” who are dancers and crowd-participation enablers. The action bounces between performances on stage and a big screen showing “Encanto” clips and lyrics. Audience members are also quizzed on their knowledge of the film and the Madrigal family.

Colorful props line the stage, which looks to be designed for flexibility (The show is only scheduled through Sept. 6). Spaceship Earth looms behind the performers.

Tiana ride: New characters, fresh tune, return of the splash

The group runs through a handful of “Encanto” songs, including “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” which comes with arm-ography. A few children are recruited to help act out the lyrics, and they are assisted by the dancers who put them through the not-simple stage directions.

There are other crowd participation/dancing moments, steered mostly to children and “Look at me; I’m an influencer” types. Kids can shine at these times or freeze in the spotlight, though most were eager to show their muscles during “Surface Pressure,” the song where the strong Luisa character expresses weakness.

The show doesn’t dwell on the film’s plot, and it doesn’t have a beginning-middle-end storyline format, so it’s OK to be a little late or leave midstream. You’d get the flavor.

Near the end are appearances by the Bruno and Mirabel characters, which isn’t a meet-and-greet, but there’s a chance to dance with them.

What else is new and nearby?

• CommuniCore Hall is an indoor, flexible space. Look for its purpose to morph and to be tied with Epcot’s festival schedule. The Disney Parks Blog has said one of its roles will be “a place for guests to relax.”

• The building also houses a walk-up eatery called Festival Favorites. Its menu changes periodically, and this summer, it will offer “Encanto” treats, including a cheese-stuffed arepa and coconut tres leches.

• A new character meet-and-greet space called Mickey and Friends in part of the CommuniCore complex as well. Here, you can knock out three characters in a single stop, each with a different Epcot-inspired background. The queue features classic Epcot sights — the dismantled-in-transformation Fountain of Nations, the monorail, Dreamfinder — in a modern mural style.
