I'm 28 years old and have always been a fan. I grew up listening to his music. I've only seen Toby Keith in concert once. It was February 10th, 2022 at the San Antonio rodeo. I didn't know it at the time, but it was his last time performing at the SA rodeo. This was a few months before he disclosed his cancer diagnosis. Boy, am I glad I saw him when I did. Amazing singer, songwriter, performer, and man. His passing really got to me. RIP

You watched silently while the uniforms cry silently. You saw war first hand. Knowing many wouldn't see their hometown again. You saw how devastating towns, cities, counties, or states become when the almighty comes twisting through. You don't think, you just do. It takes courage and strength to ask for help. Toby Keith sells out 2 shows in 2 minutes, adds third show

TULSA, Okla. — Toby Keith is returning to the big stage after a tough battle with stomach cancer.

The country music star from Clinton, Okla. announced two shows at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas.

“Y’all been waiting a long time to hear this. I’ve been waiting a long time to do this. I’m back, come see me. You’ll have the best time, I will too. We’ll never forget it. Can’t wait to see you there. Let’s go,” Keith said.

Tickets went on sale on Oct. 27 for Keith's Dec. 10 and 11 shows. Keith's management says the tickets sold out in two minutes.

Because of the overwhelming response, Keith will play a third show on Dec. 14.

Tickets for the third show will go on sale on Nov. 3 at 10 a.m.

While this is the first show of its size since Keith took a hiatus, he made public appearances at hometown shows and performed at the People's Choice Country Awards, where he won the Country Icon Award.

Toby Keith announces Las Vegas concerts amid cancer battle: 'Get the band back together'

Toby Keith is back in the driver's seat amid his battle with stomach cancer , and he's ready to perform for fans again.

The 62-year-old country star announced Friday that he will be headlining two Las Vegas shows in December to "get the band back in sync (and) get me rolling again," Keith said in a video posted to Instagram .

The concerts will take place on Dec. 10 and 11 at Dolby Live Park MGM Las Vegas. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Oct. 27 and will be available at ticketmaster.com .

These will be what he called "rehab" shows that allow Keith to get reacquainted with performing. After being diagnosed with stomach cancer in fall 2021, the performer has taken a two-year break from music. He's done several public appearances recently, including at two pop-up concerts in Oklahoma and the People’s Choice Country Awards in Nashville.

In his video announcing the upcoming shows, Keith hinted at how his cancer treatments are going.

"I've been on the old rollercoaster. But Almighty's riding shotgun; he's letting me drive for some reason," he said in his Instagram video. "I was going to sit around here and do nothing like I have been. Or (I can) get up, go outside. Don't let the old man in, you know what I mean?"

He added, "(This is the) first time in my whole life I've been off over two years. I've never been off a year in my life. And through COVID and cancer, old devil's been at me a little bit.

"I've got him by the horns right now, so instead of just sitting around and waiting, we're going to get the band back together," he said.

Last month, Keith was honored with the 2023 Country Icon Award at the People’s Choice Country Awards. During his first televised performance since sharing his cancer diagnosis in June 2022, he performed "Don't Let the Old Man," his song from Clint Eastwood's 2018 film, "The Mule."

"I feel pretty good," Keith told E! News  at the Nashville awards show. "It's a little bit of a roller coaster. You get good days and, you know, you're up and down."

He added, "It's always zero to 60 and 60 to zero, but I feel good today."

Toby Keith Is Getting The Band Back Together–Announces Two New Concert Dates

“Y’all been waiting a long time to hear this, I’ve been waiting a long time to do this. I’m back, come see me."

Toby Keith wants you to know something: He’s back ! The award-winning singer and songwriter has been off the road for a long stretch—the longest of his career—but he’s ready to make a triumphant return—and he’s doing it in style. The entertainer just announced that he is headlining two Las Vegas shows in December.

“Y’all been waiting a long time to hear this, I’ve been waiting a long time to do this. I’m back, come see me,” Keith says in a press release announcing the two shows slated for Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas on Sunday, Dec. 10, and Monday, Dec. 11, 2023.

The news is particularly exciting as the shows mark Keith’s return after a stomach cancer diagnosis .  “You know what I've been doing, riding the old roller coaster. The Almighty's riding shotgun, he's letting me drive for some reason,” Keith says in a video announcing the tour. “I’m making a big announcement. I'm doing a little deal and thought I'd start in the great Las Vegas at the MGM at Dolby live at the Park at MGM.”

The “Red Solo Cup” singer is warning fans that the shows may not be as raucous a performance as usual. “December 10th and 11th will be my first two shows, they are kind of rehab shows, get the band back in sync, get me rolling again,” he adds in the video. Still, he is excited to be back. “We're going to have a blast, get it all going again, Big Dog Daddy style,” he says, adding: “You’ll have the best time, I will too.”  Tickets for the two shows go on sale Friday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m. PT at Ticketmaster. 

Fans eager for even more of Keith’s music can also pick up a copy of his new album, 100% Songwriter , which will be released on November 3. A prolific songwriter, the album includes 13 of the most iconic songs Keith wrote all by himself.

Toby Keith is feeling hopeful after first revealing to fans in June 2022 that he has been battling stomach cancer . One year later, the country star opened up about his health ahead of his annual Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic with The Oklahoman , and shared that things are looking up.

Now that he’s had some time to take care of his health, Keith said he’s hopeful about getting back to entertaining fans in person. “I’ve got more wind,” the 61-year-old told the paper. “And I’m thinking about bringing the band in and setting up, playing two or three days somewhere just to see if I can get through two hours.” If that goes well, he’s hoping to be “out on the road this fall.”

“All I gotta do is see if I can get through two or three nights of work and get a little break in this chemo, and we’ll go back to work,” continued the seven-time Grammy nominee, who added that his tumor has shrunk.

On Monday, the Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic announced that it had raised $1.8 million in support of OK Kids Korral, a lodging facility of the Toby Keith Foundation’s that provides a free place to stay for parents to stay while their kids are fighting cancer. The top bids at the event’s auction included $120,000 for a guitar signed by Taylor Swift, $80,000 for a fishing trip with Keith and pro fisher Jimmy Houston, $70,000 for a dinner with Keith, $20,000 for a Game of Thrones trip to Croatia (11 were sold) and more.

From His Debut Album to a Jimmy Buffett Cover: Toby Keith’s Final Concert in Las Vegas in 2023 (Setlist and Videos)

“I was going to sit around here and do nothing like I have been, or get up and go outside, and don’t let the old man in,” said Keith , shortly before embarking on a run of three concerts in Las Vegas, Nevada during the fall and winter of 2023, while giving a nod to his poignant 2019 song “ Don’t Let the Old Man In ,” which was featured in Clint Eastwood ‘s 2018 film The Mule . Keith, who died on February 5, 2024, at 62, returned to the stage months after his final appearance on television at the People’s Choice Country Awards in September 2023. Shortly after Keith released his 19th album Peso in My Pocket , the country singer and songwriter was diagnosed with stomach cancer in October of 2021 and revealed it to the public the following summer while continuing with chemotherapy, surgery, and other treatments. Desperate to perform again, following a one-off performance that year in his home state of Oklahoma on July 1, 2023, at Hollywood Corners, Keith added on three shows at the Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas on December 10, 11, and 14. In October 2023, Keith also made a surprise appearance at Jason Aldean ’s concert in Oklahoma City and performed his first single and No. 1, “ Should’ve Been A Cowboy .” Before 2023 Keith played two shows in 2022 following his lengthier tour in 2021.

“They’re kind of rehab show—get the band back in sync, get me rolling again,” said Keith. “First time in my whole life I’ve been off [for] over two years. I’ve never been off a year in my life.” Keith added, “Through [the pandemic] and cancer, the old devil’s been after me a little bit. I’ve got him by the horns right now, so instead of just sitting around and waiting, we’re gonna get the band back together.”

Opening the night with his 2007 hit “Big Dog Daddy” the title track from his 11th album, Keith moved through a collection of his hits from “I Love This Bar,” “As Good As I Once Was,” “Beer For My Horses,” “How Do You Like Me Now?!” and more. Throughout his two-hour, Keith’s set crossed over most of his 19 albums, from his 1993 self-titled debut and hits “Wish I Didn’t Know Now,” “Should’ve Been A Cowboy,” and closing “A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action” through other songs that were never released as singles, including “Somewhere Else,” “I Won’t Let You Down” and “You Shouldn’t Kiss Me Like This.”

Before performing “Don’t Let The Old Man In,” during his first night in Vegas on December 10, which also featured special guests Sammy Hagar and Trace Adkins , Keith joked with the audience. “You think I’m dying, don’t you?” he said. “Me and Almighty got this, we’re good, y’all! I get up every day of my whole life, even living out here, I try to be productive and I just ain’t going to let that old man in. I’m going to play it for you tonight. These are great ways to live by.”

Mid-way through the 23-song set on December 14, Keith also paid homage to a friend, the late Jimmy Buffett with a cover of his 1977 hit “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes” the title track from Buffet’s “Margaritaville” album. Keith collaborated with Buffett on a cover of Hank Williams ’ classic “Hey Good Lookin’” along with Alan Jackson , Clint Black, Kenny Chesney, and George Strait . Released on Buffett’s 25th album License to Chill , the all-start collaboration went to No. 8 on the  Billboard  Hot Country chart. After closing on “A Little Less Talk and a Lot More Action,” Keith ended the night by delivering an encore of his more patriotic songs “American Soldier” and Courtesy Of The Red, White And Blue.” On the day of his death, a video from one of Keith’s final shows in December was posted with the caption “And that’s a wrap on the weekend, y’all. Back to it.”
