Def Leppard and Journey Launch 2024 Tour: Set Lists and Video

Def Leppard and Journey kicked off their co-headlining North American tour on Saturday at St. Louis' Busch Stadium, with support from Cheap Trick .

You can see all three set lists and video from the show below.

The lion's share of Def Leppard's set came from their two biggest albums,  Pyromania and Hysteria , which accounted for a combined 13 of their 18 songs. They've reintroduced Pyromania opener "Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)" into their set, which they hadn't played live since 2015 prior to an intimate June show at SiriusXM's the Garage. "Comin' Under Fire" also appeared in the set for just the second time in the band's history, following the Garage gig.

Journey, meanwhile, delivered well over a dozen of their requisite hits and set list staples, including "Only the Young, "Faithfully," "Wheel in the Sky" and the set-ending "Don't Stop Believin'." They opened their show with  Generations track "Faith in the Heartland," a relative rarity that they've recently begun to unearth at a handful of shows.

Cheap Trick opened the show with a tight, hourlong hits set including classics like "Dream Police," "If You Want My Love," "The Flame," "Surrender" and "I Want You to Want Me." They'll continue to provide support on select dates of the co-headlining tour along with Steve Miller Band . Both groups will sub for Heart on a handful of shows, as the rockers have postponed all of their 2024 North American shows for Ann Wilson to undergo preventative chemotherapy.

Def Leppard and Journey's co-headlining tour will run through early September.

Def Leppard Promises Brand-New Stage Show on 2024 Tour

Def Leppard logged more than 80 shows between 2022 and 2023, filling stadiums around the world with Motley Crue . The British rockers begin their latest tour armed with a new single, " Just Like '73 " (which they played on Saturday), and guitarist Phil Collen recently told UCR that fans could expect a totally revamped production on this trek.

"We changed the whole set," Collen said. "You know, there’s a whole screen [production] and we’ve been using pretty much the same stuff for like 12 years. So we’ve changed it completely. The stage show is drastically different. It’s going to take a lot of energy. There’s going to be a lot of running around. So I’m working out, trying to get the stamina up and all of that. Vocally, too. You know, I’m having to sing every single day."

How Journey Held It Together Amid Public Feuding

Journey, meanwhile, has already played more than three dozen shows this year as part of their ongoing Freedom tour, named after their 2022 album . It's been a tumultuous few years for the group, full of public feuding between  Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain . But the rock giants have held things together simply by putting the songs first.

"We just decided that the music is the music," Schon recently told Los Angeles-based music journalist  Lyndsey Parker . "We worked really hard and diligently on keeping this thing alive all these years, and just not let the other stuff get in the way and kind of keep it separate."

DEF LEPPARD To Play 'A Couple' Of Never-Before-Performed Songs On Summer 2024 Tour

Vivian Campbell says that DEF LEPPARD will play "a couple" of never-before-performed songs on the band's upcoming summer 2024 tour.

DEF LEPPARD 's 23-city trek with JOURNEY is scheduled to begin on July 6 in St. Louis, Missouri and continue through September 8 in Denver, Colorado. Along the way, the two Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame inductees will bring their show to stadiums in major cities like Chicago, Nashville, Boston, Toronto, New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and more. CHEAP TRICK will play two shows at the beginning of the tour and two concerts at the end of the trek, while STEVE MILLER BAND will join the bill for the majority of shows and HEART will appear on three dates.

Earlier today, Campbell , who joined DEF LEPPARD in 1992, shortly after the passing of guitarist Steve Clark , took to his Instagram to share a video message in which he said in part: "I just wanna say we're here in Los Angeles. We're rehearsing for our big old stadium summer tour 2024. [I'm] super excited.

"[We've] got some new songs, actually — a couple of songs that we've never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever played live before, as well as a bunch of old chestnuts that we haven't played for a long, long time. So that's why we need to practice, just to make sure we don't suck too bad.

"So come catch a show. Look forward to seeing your wonderful smiling faces out there."

DEF LEPPARD frontman Joe Elliott previously shared that the band's set on the 2024 tour will celebrate specific parts of the rockers' history. "We may even have a surprise or two up our sleeves," he said in a statement.

JOURNEY recently completed a number of dates as part of its 50th-anniversary "Freedom" tour.

The DEF LEPPARD / JOURNEY tour is being promoted by AEG Entertainment .

Both bands are offering VIP packages through their respective web sites.

DEF LEPPARD 's VIP experiences include a premium seat, personal photo with the band, exclusive merchandise and more.

DEF LEPPARD 's 12th studio album, "Diamond Star Halos" , came out in 2022. A year later, the band followed it up with "Drastic Symphonies" , a collection of reimagining of some of DEF LEPPARD 's greatest hits with London's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra at Abbey Road . The album spent 15 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Current Classical chart.

DEF LEPPARD 's 2022 stadium tour across North America with MÖTLEY CRÜE reportedly sold more than 1.3 million tickets.

As they did with the original release of their records, Def Leppard dominated the worldwide charts again, which found their albums charting in the iTunes Top 10 in more than 30 countries, including Hysteria at #3 in the US, and #5 in the UK (36 years after the album had charted at No 1 in the Billboard charts).  Def Leppard also had the #1, #2 and #3 records on the US catalog albums chart. The band have gone on to amass a staggering 5.5 billion streams since 2018, reaching a younger 18-44 demographic that now represents 58% of their fanbase. This has been followed by their 13 th studio album “Drastic Symphonies” with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in 2023. The album charted at no 4 in the UK album charts – their highest UK chart entry in over 32 years. Following the close of their historic 2018 co-headline stadium and arena run in North America, Def Leppard sold more than 1,000,000 tickets, a massive feat in today’s touring world. As always, the group continues pushing the boundaries with their electrifying live shows.

ABOUT STEVE MILLER

Steve Miller has been a monumental presence on the American music scene for more than half a century. Miller’s Greatest Hits 1974-78 received the RIAA Diamond Award with sales of more than 15 million copies. It is among the 25 best-selling albums of all time. At the start of his career, Miller became a mainstay of the San Francisco music scene that upended American culture in the late 1960s. Beginning in the 1970s, Miller crafted a brand of pure pop that was polished, exciting, and irresistible — and that dominated radio in a way few artists have ever managed. Hit followed hit in what seemed like an endless flow: “The Joker,” “Take the Money and Run,” “Rock’n Me,” “Fly Like an Eagle,” “Jet Airliner,” and “Abracadabra,” among them. In recent years, Miller has fully immersed himself in the blues and its many byways. At the request of Wynton Marsalis, he is defining a blues pedagogy for Jazz at Lincoln Center where he has curated and headlined shows that explore the history of American music and the profound connections between the blues and jazz. He is also a member of the visiting committee of the Department of Musical Instruments at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. This past September, the 2016 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and 2022 Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee released J50: The Evolution of The Joker to mark the 50th anniversary of the release of multi-million seller, iconic album, and single “The Joker.” With each listen the beauty and immediacy of his work, at its most playful or most serious, is palpable. Whether he was riding the top of the charts or traveling the endless blue highways of American music, one can hear him playing and singing with conviction and precision, passion, and eloquence, and making music that is at once immediately accessible, thrillingly alive in the present, and more than able to stand the test of time.

What to Know for Def Leppard’s The Summer Stadium Tour

If the first extended stadium run shared by Def Leppard and Journey isn’t sweet enough, let’s pour some sugar on the situation: select dates on The Summer Stadium Tour will feature fellow Rock Hall inductees Cheap Trick , Steve Miller Band and HEART . The all-star lineup of The Summer Stadium Tour matches the standard set by Def Leppard’s last two live treks, 2022’s The Stadium Tour and 2023’s The World Tour, which included Mötley Crüe , Alice Cooper , Poison and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts .

Def Leppard have enough hit songs to fill a setlist, plus a whole host of fresh material from their 2022 album Diamond Star Halos . However, the band has delivered more to fans with their 2024 single “Just Like 73” featuring Rage Against the Machine guitarist Tom Morello . The song as well as two Pyromania live rarities, “Rock! Rock! (Till You Drop)” and “Comin’ Under Fire,” appeared in the opening shows of The Summer Stadium Tour.
