Things to do in Paris

  • What's On When You're Here

Airports & Transfers

Getting around paris, paris travel guide, paris essentials, train travel, paris arrondissements, open-top bus tours – hop on & see the sights of paris.

Sometimes it feels right to do in Paris that may seem a bit… touristy. If it's your first time to Paris… heck, even if it's your 10th time to Paris, an open-air bus tour provides a sense of discovery, of freedom, and even of exhilaration. Under the open skies, with the breeze in your hair, you take in the monuments, landmarks, and streetscapes of the city. A hop-on bus tour is one of the best ways to get a quick overview of Paris.

Experience Montmartre

Riding the hop-on, open-air buses.

Open Air Bus Tours

The open air buses travel in a loop to take in all the iconic sights of Paris. As the name implies, you can hop off at any of the stops, then explore the area before hopping back on again. No questions asked, no transfers needed.

The way we like to use the bus pass is to hop off at each of the stops spend some time walking around and digging deeper in the quartier before making our way back to the bus stop and hopping back on. The next bus rolls around often, so there's not much waiting.

What you'll learn is that Paris is a compact city. An open-air bus tour gives you practically an aerial view and you can see how the city is connected by their river, the museums, and the landmarks.

Romantic Dinner Cruises In Paris

Tootbus hop-on hop-off tour.

Hop-On Bus

To see the city from the second story, get a two-day pass for Tootbus (listen, we don't name these things). A three-day pass is available, but we think two days is a good length of time. You can hop on and off the bus as many times as you like. "Go at your own pace" is the theme of Tootbus and that's really what these open-topped buses are all about.

Paris City Bus Tours

Paris City Bus Tours

Paris has several tour bus operators . The most renowned are OpenTour, Big Bus Paris and Foxity Sightseeing Tour. Find in-depth information about what each company offers and choose the best option.

All sightseeing buses in Paris are open-top double-deckers and include an audio guide in English .

We provide you with information on each of the different tour bus operators so you can choose which one you prefer:

Big Bus Paris

Big Bus Paris (used to be called Les Cars Rouges) is the oldest tour bus operator in Paris. These buses are red , as the name used to suggest.

Paris is extremely well-lit up at night and it's worth discovering the city after dusk. This is why the Big Bus operator includes a tour of Paris at this time of day when visitors will be able to see the main monuments illuminated.

Big Bus Paris has one line that takes a little over two hours with eleven stops . Passengers can hop off and hop on at any of the following stops:

Itinerario de Big Bus Paris

  • Eiffel Tower
  • Champs de Mars
  • Notre Dame Cathedral
  • Musée d'Orsay
  • Opéra Garnier
  • Arc de Triomphe
  • Grand Palais

Schedule & timetable

The Big Bus Paris schedule is approximately from 9:30 am to 8:15 pm . However, it depends a lot on each stop. The last bus passes by the Louvre Museum or Notre Dame at 6:25 pm. The frequency varies between 10 and 20 minutes , depending on the time of year.

For your convenience, you can purchase tickets online here .

Paris OpenTour

The OpenTour bus is yellow and blue and allows its passengers to hop off and hop on as many times as they want during the validity of their ticket.

OpenTour Paris, itinerarios

Paris OpenTour has three different routes with over 34 stops and passengers can choose any of these 3 lines and combine them without any problem.

  • Blue line : Rides past the top landmarks of Paris, like the Louvre Museum, Champs-Élysées, Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Les Invalides…
  • White line : Travels down the left bank of the River Seine. It passes by the Catacombs of Paris, Boulevard Montparnasse, St. Germain-des-Prés, and the Pont Neuf, among others.
  • Red line : This line includes the main attractions on the right side of the Seine, like the Moulin Rouge, Montmartre , and République, among others.

The routes and schedules of the OpenTour buses vary depending on the route and time of year . Between April and October, buses run from 9:30 am to 8 pm approximately and from November to March from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm. The frequency also varies, ranging from 10 – 30 minutes.

Adults with a Paris Visite  travel card have a € 4 ( US$ 4.30) discount for the 1-day Open Tour and children under 4 travel for free. Those who want to combine the Batobus  with an OpenTour bus tour can purchase a special rate for a 2-day pass for both means of transport.

Foxity Sightseeing Tour

Foxity Sightseeing Tour was the last tour bus to arrive in Paris. At first, this company only included a bus tour without having the hop-on, hop-off option. However, due to pressure from tourists, it now allows its passengers to hop on and off.

Foxity also organizes night tours.

Itinerario del Foxity Sightseeing Tour

The buses leave from the Eiffel Tower and its itinerary is very similar to the Big Bus Paris one.

The timetable varies depending on the time of year. We recommend checking the times on their webpage .

The ticket price is 42 EUR for adults ( € 49 ( US$ 52.60) for 2 days) . For children between 4 and 12 ticket price, is 23 EUR ( € 28 ( US$ 30) for 2 days) , and children under 4 years old take the tour for free.

Which tour bus to choose?

All of the above companies offer very similar services , although we recommend Paris OpenTour , as it has more routes and more stops, and therefore offers a more complete tour.

Mobile application gives full freedom while we are on hop-on hop-off tours. You can track the live location of the bus and you can plan according to that. Also, Toot bus application has an audio guide within it. You can comfortably play the guide and enjoy the ride maximum.

BIG BUS or TOOT BUS let's do a comparison

  • Both tour operators have 10 stops on their hop-on hop-off circuit.
  • Both companies provide hop-on hop-off, night tours, and combined tours. But the Big bus offers more types of combined tickets.
  • Toot bus is cheaper compared to the Big bus
  • Bigbus has audio guides in 11 languages while Toot bus has only 5 languages.
  • Toot bus has buses with roofs covered with glass, which is comfortable in the winter.
  • Both have a live bus tracking application.
  • Toot bus has an audio guide in their mobile application.
  • Toot bus offers up to 3 days hop-on hop-off ticket.
  • Toot bus also has a 2-hour hop-on hop-off sightseeing ticket.

In my opinion, the Toot bus gives more services and facilities at a cheaper price. But Big bus is also a well-known company that operates in more than 22 cities around the world.

If you would like to save some money this section is for you. If you are already planning to take the hop-on-hop-off ticket and you do not have the budget for a night sightseeing trip. Don’t worry, we have a plan for you. If you take the last complete circuit of the hop-on hop-off service you can enjoy the same night sightseeing experience. During the festival season, especially in December, the Paris streets are decorated with illuminating lights and it will be a different experience for you. The sky gets dark very early and it will be perfect for a night trip. So don’t miss your chance. All you have to do is find your bus tour operator’s last complete circuit and be there.

If you are planning a summer trip to Paris, this will not help you much. Since the sky gets dark only after 10:00 Pm. But don’t worry, we have another plan for you. Have you heard about Batobus? The Batobus is a hop-on hop-off service in the Seine river. With Batobus you can enjoy a seine river cruise and hop on and hop off at the same time at a cheaper price. If want to know more visit our Batobus page .

Where you can buy your open bus tour tickets?

You can purchase your open bus tour tickets online. Which is more reliable and flexible. You can also purchase from the driver on board or you can buy them at their office. If you buy tickets from our online partner you will get tickets at the same price as the official website and get more benefits. You can book your tickets today and pay later. Who’s hosting the livestream?

Actor and model Cara Delevingne will emcee the proceedings, narrating Vogue World’s sprawling celebration of French mode , sport, and the city of Paris itself. (Think sportscasting, but make it fashion.)

What will happen during Vogue World: Paris?

This year’s edition of Vogue World has been conceived in collaboration with youth athletic academies from throughout France, pairing different sports—cycling, gymnastics, tennis, fencing, and breaking, among others—with a decade in French fashion, going back to the 1920s.

The show’s fashions will foreground French designers both contemporary and historic, as well as houses that traditionally show their collections in Paris. The cast, meanwhile, will include over 500 athletes, performers, surprise guests, and models including Loli Bahia, Kendall Jenner, Paloma Elsesser, Ashley Graham, Jill Kortleve, Amelia Gray, and Abby Champion.

Who will perform at Vogue World: Paris?

You’ll just have to tune in today to find out!

I’ll be in Paris in late June. Can I still purchase tickets to Vogue World?

Taylor Swift opens the Eras tour in Paris

Over a year into Taylor Swift’s Eras tour , she has found ways to keep the show fresh and new for those who have been waiting since she opened in Phoenix, Arizona in March 2023 to see her. Since the tour began in the United States last year, Swift has released two rerecorded albums —  Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)  and  1989 (Taylor’s Version)  in addition to a brand-new double album,  The Tortured Poets Department.

Taylor Swift: Which Eras Tour Songs Didn’t Make Concert Film & Which Surprise Songs Got In

Every show on the Eras Tour involves an acoustic set where Swift performs at least two songs custom to that night’s show. At first, she wouldn’t allow herself repeats unless she messed up the lyrics to a song, but now, she has done away with that rule and gotten more creative by combining songs in mashups and playing up to four in a segment. The first song or three take place on guitar, and then she shifts to piano for the second half before diving beneath the stage to resume the setlist – which has since contracted and expanded to include a  Tortured Poets Department  era and set .

Below you’ll find Taylor Swift’s surprise songs that she has played most recently in Europe as well as a record of all those she has played on the entire tour so far.

CROMWELL, Conn. (AP) — No hard feelings, Rory.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said he understands why Rory McIlroy withdrew from the Travelers Championship — the final signature event on the calendar — to recover from a late-Sunday meltdown at the U.S. Open .

“Sometimes you just need to focus on what you need,” Monahan said on Wednesday, a day before the tournament at TPC River Highlands outside of Hartford. “And that’s what he’s doing and that’s exactly what he should be doing because that’s what he thinks is the right path.”

McIlroy twice had a one-shot lead at Pinehurst No. 2 before he bogeyed three of the last four holes, missing a pair of par putts from inside 4 feet. Instead of McIlroy’s fifth major championship — and his first in 10 years — Bryson DeChambeau claimed his second .

On Monday, McIlroy said on social media that he would be taking three weeks off to “build myself back up.” He is planning to return July 10-13 for the Scottish Open, where he is the defending champion, followed by the British Open the following week at Royal Troon in Scotland.

Without him, there will be 71 players teeing off on Thursday in the limited field, no-cut signature event at the TPC River Highlands. McIlroy is the only one in the top eight in the world ranking or the top 30 in the FedEx Cup standings who will miss it.

“You look at the quality of the field that we have this week, we’re going to have a great Travelers Championship,” Monahan said. “And I’m looking forward to getting Rory back in Scotland.”

Enemy territory

The Travelers Championship is the one week of the year that Keegan Bradley has bragging rights over world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler.

Not only is Bradley the defending champion at the TPC River Highlands, but the native New Englander can remind his Texan rival how the NBA Finals turned out. Bradley’s Boston Celtics beat Scheffler’s Dallas Mavericks in a Game 5 clincher on Monday night.

Asked about arriving in Celtics country so soon after Boston won its unprecedented 18th NBA championship, Scheffler joked, “Do I have to answer that question?” Scheffler said he hasn’t heard any razzing on the course but one fan asked him to sign a Celtics hat.

He declined.

“I don’t blame him,” Bradley said. “I wouldn’t want to either if I was a Dallas fan.”

Bradley grew up in Vermont, New Hampshire and Massachusetts as a fervid Boston sports fan and married the niece of baseball Hall of Famer Carlton Fisk. At a Fenway Park news conference last fall to introduce the local franchise in the new, high-tech TGL circuit, he described the thrill of seeing the Red Sox clubhouse and giving Englishman Tyrrell Hatton a tour of the ballpark.

The Travelers presented Bradley with one of Fenway’s wooden seats at the tournament’s media day in April.

“It’s one of the coolest gifts I’ve ever gotten — probably the coolest gift I’ve ever gotten in my life,” he said. “To have a seat from Fenway Park in your house is pretty spectacular.”

Paris preview

The Travelers will feature 22 players out of the 60 who have qualified for the Paris Olympics , including all four Americans: Scheffler, defending gold medalist Xander Schauffele, Wyndham Clark and Collin Morikawa.

Others include Ludvig Aberg (Sweden), Viktor Hovland (Norway), Hideki Matsuyama (Japan) and Britain’s Tommy Fleetwood and Matthew Fitzpatrick. Although they will be playing for their countries, the Olympics is a 72-hole, stroke-play tournament will award medals to the individuals with the low scores.

“There is no team aspect of it. It would be cool if there was,” said Morikawa, who finished fourth in Tokyo, losing in a seven-man, sudden-death playoff for the bronze medal on the fourth extra hole. “Caddies are definitely going to scout the course together, they’re going to do you all the prep together, a lot of sharing information, just as if it were a Ryder Cup or Presidents Cup kind of in that sense. But when it comes down to it on Thursday, it’s our event, it’s our own individual event.”

That doesn’t mean there’s no patriotism involved.

“I’m not necessarily going to go out and try to play too many practice rounds with somebody from a different country,” said Scheffler, who will be making his Olympic debut and confessed he hadn’t really thought about it. “We’re trying to go over there and earn a medal for the USA so it will probably be a closer-knit circle as we go over there.”

The rankings to determine Olympic spots were finalized with the conclusion of the U.S. Open. Countries are limited to two players, unless their third- and fourth-best players are ranked within the top 15 in the world.

Golf was in the Olympics early in the last century before it was dropped from the program for more than 100 years. It returned in Rio de Janeiro in 2016, making this the third go-round.

Scheffler said he is excited to be a part of the Summer Games and check out other sports, including basketball and tennis. He also wanted to make a trip to the Olympic Village to watch the other athletes train.

“I grew up playing a ton of sports, and so to be able to see the best in the world at their craft would be pretty special,” he said.
