2023 Korn Ferry Tour schedule: Tournaments, dates, purses and venues

korn ferry tour kansas city 2023

The 2023 Korn Ferry Tour schedule has been announced, with a 26-event docket that golf fans have been accustomed to seeing in recent years.

The most significant changes to the schedule are related to the standardization of purses, leading to a guaranteed $1 million purse each week.

Purse-boosted events

The minimum purse on the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour is $1,000,000, which is an increase of $250,000 over the 2022 season. The standardization of purses goes hand in hand with a tour that offers a standard 500 Korn Ferry Tour points to winners in every event.

International events return

The 2023 schedule will be played almost entirely in the United States, with events outside of the country returning this year. The Pinnacle Bank Championship in Nebraska is the final tournament of the regular season.

Korn Ferry Tour Finals

The Korn Ferry Tour schedule will conclude in August, with the Korn Ferry Tour Finals returning to four events. All four tournaments will have a $1.5 million purse.

The Korn Ferry Tour Finals will no longer include players from the PGA Tour ranked Nos. 126-200 on the final FedEx Cup points list. It will only include Korn Ferry Tour players, looking to secure one of 30 total PGA Tour cards available in the season-long Korn Ferry Tour points race.

Long-suffering tour pro hangs on for KFT win, sets himself up for another PGA Tour run

1257001384

Grayson Murray reacts salvaging a double-bogey 7 on the last hole to hang on to a one-shot win at the Korn Ferry Tour's AdventHealth Championship.

The final leaderboard at the Korn Ferry Tour’s AdventHealth Championship in Kansas City showed a one-shot victory for Grayson Murray, the first in six years for the journeyman pro. But for the 29-year-old who has battled issues with anxiety and alcohol along with physical injuries, the personal margin of victory was much greater.

“My parents have been through hell and back basically for the last six years with me fighting some mental stuff,” said the former PGA Tour winner after his triumph at Blue Hills C.C.

In the summer of 2021, following a second-round WD at the 3M Open, the Raleigh, N.C., native revealed he was in treatment for alcohol use . Murray opened up on Twitter about his battles with drinking, saying he was on probation from the PGA Tour for an incident in a hotel bar in Hawaii that year.

“It’s not easy on me, and the people around me that love me, they don’t like to see me down,” Murray said Sunday in Kansas City. “They’ve been my No. 1 supporters. There are a few friends as well that have been there, and it makes these moments a lot more special when you can share it with them.”

That moment was made extra special by the way in which Murray earned his first victory since the 2017 Barbasol Championship on the PGA Tour. In the third round at Blue Hills CC, Murray birdied the last four holes and moved within two of the 54-hole lead. Come Sunday, he birdied Nos. 1, 7 and 10 before an eagle at No. 13 and another birdie on 16 built him a three-shot lead.

Instead of cruising to victory, however, things got tight on the final hole when Murray hit his tee shot out of bounds and had to reload.

On the green, Murray stood over an eight-foot putt for double-bogey 7. He appeared a far more composed player than the one involved in a Twitter spat with Kevin Na just over a year ago, and rolled in the putt. At 19 under par, he earned a one-shot victory over Rico Hoey and 54-hole leader Wilson Furr.

Murray’s second Korn Ferry Tour title came with a $180,000 winner’s prize. The win also comes seven months after Murray was involved in a scooter accident in Bermuda that didn’t result in any broken bones but did require 50 stitches.

“It hasn’t really sunk in; I’ve been working really hard, and this is a testament to the hard work,” Murray, who now sports a leaner, muscular physique, said. “Six years is a long drought, far longer than I wanted. Sometimes your highs are high out here and your lows are low. I heard a quote, think it was from Justin Thomas, it’s like, one day you feel nothing can go wrong and you can’t lose. Then, all of sudden you lose it and you can’t make a cut. That’s kind of how golf is. It’s a very humbling sport.”

The win took Murray from No. 142 to No. 14 on the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour points standings. Should he hold onto his spot in the top 30 through the end of the regular season, he’ll secure a promotion to the PGA Tour for the third time in his career having done so in 2016 and 2019.

“We’ll see,” Murray said. “I’m going to enjoy this one first.”

Korn Ferry Tour 2023 schedule features record prize money and three new events

The 2023 Korn Ferry Tour schedule features record prize money and three new events as well as stops in five countries and 18 states across the nation.

The 26-event schedule begins in January and ends in October, where the top 30 players on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List at the end of the season will earn PGA Tour cards. Players will compete for a record $28 million in total prize money, a 37.6 percent increase over last season ($20.35 million). The player who finishes atop the points list will continue to earn an exemption into the Players Championship and U.S. Open.

The Korn Ferry Tour Finals will expand to the final four events of the season and will include increased purses and points allocations and smaller fields, similar to the PGA Tour’s FedExCup Playoffs.

“The ultimate proving ground, the Korn Ferry Tour continues to identify, prepare and transition golf’s next stars to compete on the PGA Tour,” said PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan. “The success we’ve seen from Korn Ferry Tour graduates Sungjae Im, Scottie Scheffler and Will Zalatoris, the last three recipients of the PGA Tour Rookie of the Year, is indicative of the quality and talent on the Korn Ferry Tour.”

New events:

Astara Chile Classic, March 30-April 2, Santiago, Chile

Compliance Solutions Championship, June 22-25, Norman, Oklahoma

Magnit Championship, August 17-20, Jackson Township, New Jersey.

All four Korn Ferry Tour Finals events will be broadcast on Golf Channel, as well as the BMW Charity Pro-Am and Utah Championship.

“Stretching our season into October while maintaining a 26-event schedule allowed us to compose a strong tournament calendar with natural breaks, optimal golf course conditions, as well as providing our 30 graduates with time to prepare for their transition to the PGA Tour, which will begin in January 2024,” said Korn Ferry Tour President Alex Baldwin.

PGA TOUR announces 2023 Korn Ferry Tour schedule

Korn ferry tour’s 33rd season will award 30 pga tour cards, feature highest prize money in tour history with three inaugural events and elevated korn ferry tour finals.

The 2023 Korn Ferry Tour season will begin at The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic in January. (Design by Elise Tallent/PGA TOUR)

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Florida – The PGA TOUR announced today the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour schedule, which begins in January and features 26 tournaments across five countries and 18 states. The 2023 Korn Ferry Tour season will culminate at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance on Sunday, October 8, 2023, with 30 PGA TOUR cards being awarded to the top 30 finishers on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List.

In 2023, Korn Ferry Tour members will compete for $28 million in total prize money, marking the highest purse in Tour history and a 37.6 percent increase from the previous season ($20.35 million in 2022).

“As we enter the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour season, I am thrilled with the momentum we’re carrying into this next chapter of our Tour’s history,” said Korn Ferry Tour President Alex Baldwin, who is entering her fifth season overseeing the Tour. “The Korn Ferry Tour continues to play a vital role in consistently delivering future PGA TOUR stars and we’re proud to see our members compete for a record purse in 2023.”

The 2023 Korn Ferry Tour slate opens with four consecutive international events, beginning with The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic at Sandals Emerald Bay (January 15-18) and The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic at The Abaco Club (January 22-25), followed by The Panama Championship (February 2-5) in Panama City and the Astara Golf Championship (February 9-12) in Bogota, Colombia. A fifth international event has been added to the Korn Ferry Tour schedule for the 2023 season – the Astara Chile Classic – which will take place March 30-April 2, 2023, at Prince of Wales Country Club in Santiago, Chile.

In addition to the Astara Chile Classic, two other tournaments will debut in 2023: the Compliance Solutions Championship will take place at the Jimmie Austin Golf Club at the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Oklahoma (June 22-25) and the Magnit Championship, which will be the final tournament before the four-event Korn Ferry Tour Finals, will be played at Metedeconk National Golf Club in Jackson Township, New Jersey (August 17-20).

“Another key change for the Korn Ferry Tour in 2023 is the extended schedule, which will see events played from January through October,” added Baldwin. “Stretching our season into October while maintaining a 26-event schedule allowed us to compose a strong tournament calendar with natural breaks, optimal golf course conditions, as well as providing our 30 graduates with time to prepare for their transition to the PGA TOUR, which will begin in January 2024.”

As announced in June , the revamped Korn Ferry Tour Finals – which previously referred to the final three events of the season where the top 75 on the Korn Ferry Tour and Nos. 126-200 in the FedExCup standings competed for 25 TOUR cards – now refers to the final four events of the season, where Korn Ferry Tour members will compete for increased purses ($1.5 million) and points allocations, while field sizes will be reduced similar to the PGA TOUR’s FedExCup Playoffs.  In 2023, the Korn Ferry Tour will no longer have a separate points list for the Regular Season and the Korn Ferry Tour Finals; the 26-event schedule will have one season-long points list to award 30 PGA TOUR cards .

The 2023 Korn Ferry Tour Finals begin in Boise, Idaho at the Albertsons Boise Open presented by Chevron at Hillcrest Country Club. After a two-week break, the Finals resume in Nashville at the Simmons Bank Open for the Snedeker Foundation, immediately followed by the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship in Columbus, Ohio. The 2023 season will conclude at the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance in Newburgh, Indiana on Sunday, October 8, where PGA TOUR cards will be given to the top 30 players on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List.

2023 Korn Ferry Tour Finals

Final four events of the 2023 korn ferry tour season.

GOLF Channel will broadcast six events during the 2023 Korn Ferry Tour season, beginning with the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by TD SYNNEX in June and followed by the Utah Championship presented by Zions Bank in August. To conclude the season, all four Korn Ferry Tour Finals events will be broadcast on GOLF Channel.

For the second straight season, the Korn Ferry Tour will feature an increase in purse sizes. Across all 26 events, the 2023 season will have a cumulative $28 million purse, the largest in the Tour’s history. The four Finals events will feature $1.5 million purses, while each of the preceding 22 tournaments will have a $1 million purse.

Overview of Korn Ferry Tour Purse Increases (USD)

When founded in 1990 as the Ben Hogan Tour (1990-92), the Korn Ferry Tour featured a total purse of $3 million across 30 total events, averaging $100,000 per tournament.

In addition to the three new tournaments added to the schedule in 2023 – the Astara Chile Classic, the Compliance Solutions Championship and the Magnit Championship – the Korn Ferry Tour also added another title sponsor entering the new season, as the Huntsville Championship was renamed the  HomeTown Lenders Championship  last month. The Korn Ferry Tour enters the 2023 season with 24 title sponsors, marking a 60 percent increase since the 2019 season (15 title sponsors).

“The success and sustainability of the Korn Ferry Tour is due in large part to the incredible support we receive from our sponsors, including our umbrella sponsor, Korn Ferry, as well as our 26 tournaments,” said Baldwin. “We are grateful to all of our corporate partners, especially our title sponsors and our tournament’s local sponsors, for their commitment to the Korn Ferry Tour, their desire to make a positive impact in the communities where we play, and for providing our members the opportunity to chase their dreams of playing on the PGA TOUR.”

The No. 1 player on the final 2023 Korn Ferry Tour Points List will continue to earn an exemption into THE PLAYERS Championship and the U.S. Open Championship the following season. Recent No. 1s on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List include Scottie Scheffler (Class of 2019) and Sungjae Im (Class of 2018), who were both named Korn Ferry Tour Player of the Year and PGA TOUR Rookie of the Year in consecutive seasons. Following his impressive 2022 campaign, Scheffler was named PGA TOUR Player of the Year and became the first player in PGA TOUR history to win all three awards in a career.

Cameron Young shoots 59 at Travelers Championship; 12th golfer in PGA Tour history to card sub-60 round

CROMWELL, CONNECTICUT - JUNE 22: Cameron Young of the United States plays his shot from the 17th tee during the third round of the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands on June 22, 2024 in Cromwell, Connecticut. (Photo by James Gilbert/Getty Images)

Cameron Young shot a 59 at the Travelers Championship on Saturday for the first sub-60 round on the PGA Tour in four years, becoming just the 12th player on the PGA Tour to ever achieve the feat. At the signature event on the par 70 TPC River Highlands in Connecticut, Young’s 11-under par round was enough to take the solo lead before the leaders tee off.

Young, 27, opened the third round going birdie-birdie-eagle-birdie to immediately start 5 under through four holes. The eagle came on a par 4 in which he holed out a 142-yard shot. He then birdied 8 and 9 to round out the front nine in just 28 shots and birdied 13 to put himself at 8 under.

On the drivable par-4 15th hole, Young hit an epic iron shot that rolled up to the green and landed four feet from the pin to set up a short eagle putt. Another birdie on 17 sealed the sub-60, and Young parred 18 to put himself in the record books.

59 FOR CAMERON YOUNG! He cards the 13th sub-60 round in PGA TOUR history @TravelersChamp 👏 pic.twitter.com/dDoz5CxEHA — PGA TOUR (@PGATOUR) June 22, 2024

It’s the first sub-60 round on the PGA Tour since Scottie Scheffler’s 59 at the Northern Trust Open at TPC Boston in 2020 and just the 13th total round under 60. The lowest ever is a 58 by Jim Furyk played on the same course at TPC River Highlands in 2016. Furyk also shot a 59 at the 2013 BMW Championship. He did not win either event.

It’s been a low-scoring week overall in Connecticut. Tom Kim opened with a 62, and Robert MacIntyre shot another 62 on Friday while Collin Morikawa shot 63 on the heels of a 28 on the front nine. Five golfers were at least 10 shots under par through two rounds.

Golf has seen a run of such scores lately across tours. Cristobal del Solar shot a 57 on the Korn Ferry Tour this season for the lowest-ever round on a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. U.S. Open champ Bryson DeChambeau shot a 58 last summer to win LIV Greenbrier, and fellow LIV golfer Joaquin Niemann shot a 59 to win in Mexico.

For Young, it’s a promising step in an up-and-down year. Young broke out two years ago when he finished T3 at the PGA Championship and solo second at the Open Championship all at 25, followed by a T7 at the 2023 Masters months later. He seemed poised to become one of golf’s next big stars, and he’s had a good run overall ranking No. 23 in OWGR, but Young hasn’t quite broken through as expected.

Young has yet to earn his first PGA Tour win, and despite a great start in 2024 including a T9 at the Masters in April, Young hasn’t placed better than 34th in the six tournaments since.

Charting the leader

Thomas walsh (leader/9-under).

  • Rolled in 10 birdies on the day (Nos. 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 11, 14, 16, 17, 18) against one bogey (No. 1)
  • Making his second career start at the Compliance Solutions Championship (2023/T62)
  • Most recently held the 18-hole lead at the 2024 Astara Chile Classic presented by Scotiabank; finished T11
  • Best finish on the season came in the form of a T3 at the Astara Golf Championship presented by Mastercard in Bogotá, Colombia, where he held the outright 54-hole lead
  • Currently sits No. 44 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List
  • Best career finish was a T2 at the 2023 Price Cutter Championship presented by Dr. Pepper
  • Turned professional in 2019 and played primarily on PGA TOUR Latinoamérica during the 2020 season where he logged three top-25 finishes in seven starts

Thomas Walsh on his first round 9-under 64: “Yeah, I hit it well for the first time in a while. Kind of been battling injury for two months now. I got a tip last week to kind of help ease my wrist pain in my setup and just kind of the first day I went around pain free in two months, so I felt free for the first time in a long time.”

Walsh on how his wrist injury changed his swing: “I just changed the way I set up. Looked back on some old videos pre wrist pain and tried to find some things that would take some pressure off my left wrist. We found two things in particular that helped and I didn't have pain two days ago when I tried it out. It's kind of been back to my normal fade and not worry about it for the first time in a while, so it's been nice.”

Logan McAllister on his bogey-free 8-under 65: “I think I did a good job just keeping it in front of me. I maybe missed three fairways. The greens are pretty soft, but just coming out of the rough is just difficult enough that it's harder to make birdies, so I was playing from the fairway pretty much all day. And then I played the par 5s really well minus No. 17. All in all, it was a good day and excited to see a good start.”

McAllister on having a home event: “Yeah, we're on five in a row, so to be able to come home for the sixth one, I stayed home and slept in my own bed. That's something that makes me feel a little bit more refreshed. Hopefully, as the week goes on, as I would normally start to get a little bit more worn out probably, I think that's where it makes the biggest difference is being able to be home, like I said, sleep in my own bed, cook my own food in my own kitchen, stuff like that.”

  • Nyholm enters the week at No. 45 on the Korn Ferry Tour Points List with four top-25 finishes and a top-10
  • Recorded his best career finish at last week’s Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas Wichita Open Benefitting KU Wichita Pediatrics (T2)
  • Jackson Suber (T2/-8) cards an 8-under 64 to end the day in a tie for second, topping his previous best position after an opening round this season (LECOM Suncoast Classic/T4)
  • McAllister made his first career major start in last week’s U.S. Open at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club (MC)
  • The former first-team All-American finished No. 3 in 2022 PGA TOUR University Rankings to earn his initial status on the Korn Ferry Tour
  • Argentinian Tano Goya (T2/-8) cards his lowest round in a Korn Ferry Tour event since the 2022 Visit Knoxville Open (64/R4) and lowest in a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event since 2023 (World Wide Technologies Championship)
  • Roberto Díaz (T8/-7) rolls in nine birdies (Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 9, 11, 12, 14, 17) on the day against one double bogey (No. 8) en route to a 7-under 65, tying his low round of the season
  • The second-year Korn Ferry Tour member currently sits No. 10 on the Points List with four top-10 finishes in 13 starts this season; he had three top-10s in 22 starts all of last year
  • Brent Grant (T8/-7), who finished T21 at the 2023 Compliance Solutions Championship, matches his lowest opening-round score of the year with a 7-under 65 (LECOM Suncoast Classic)
  • Metzger aims to make his second cut of the season (Astara Chile Classic presented by Scotiabank/T44)
  • Jones earned a sponsor exemption for this week through the PGA TOUR’s Pathway to Progression by winning the inaugural Bridgestone Collegiate Invitational at Silverado Country Club in Napa, California.
  • Five players finished the first round bogey-free: Nyholm, McAllister, Wil Bateman (T21/-5), Cody Blick (T21/-5) and Austin Greaser (T37/-4)
