Louis Vuitton & The NBA Continue With A Luggage Release

With summer days ahead, we’ve got our eyes peeled on all of the latest summer collections , swimwear releases and newest travel accessories. Although traveling is not seasonal, summertime fun tends to include more traveling plans than usual. To offer a stylish way to explore and to continue the brand’s partnership with the NBA, which was launched by Virgil Abloh in 2020, Louis Vuitton unveils a new luggage collection.  

The third drop continues to celebrate the values of basketball that were cherished by Abloh and his love for intertwining fashion with other worlds he held passion for. In the collection, Louis Vuitton oversized and mini trunks are co-branded with a merged logo and designed in classic NBA colors. 

LV duffels, backpacks and compact bags are also worked into the sporty travel collection. The meticulous details marry the NBA’s visual identity with Louis Vuitton’s by utilizing basketball nets and gold chains — a nod to the NBA trophy — in the design. Abloh’s genius is present in the final product that captures the essence of basketball with the iconic range of LV luggage. 

In addition to the commercial collection, Louis Vuitton also created an official travel trunk for the NBA’s Larry O’Brien Trophy, the pinnacle of basketball achievement. The exterior features the LV Monogram with heavyweight brass closures and the interior is lined with soft microfibre and stamped with the NBA’s 75th Anniversary logo.

Commemorating the NBA Finals 2022, Louis Vuitton has reunited with their hoops partner NBA to release a line of leather goods. Since their first collaborative effort in 2020, Louis Vuitton and NBA has seen a range of releases that include footwear, the iconic “Ball in Basket” bag and even a trophy case. This newest collection will see a line comprised of a backpack, keep-all, wallet and a smaller-sized travel bag in bold, bright blue leather.

Atop the rich leather is a the tonal Louis Vuitton monogram, adding an unmistakable luxe to every piece. Fashionably, a basketball with the LV logo is the characteristic symbol that marks the entire assemblage. The logo’s red and white accents ties it back to the NBA logo with similar colours. In classic Louis Vuitton style, straps are made of solid black leather and adorned with metallic gold hardware, upgrading the usual backpack and duffle into statement pieces.

The range will be released via Louis Vuitton’s site on June 2, on the same day of the first match between the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors. The wallet retails at USD$650, the travel bag at USD$1.7k, leather keep-all at USD$4.3k and USD$4.6k for the backpack. Keep scrolling for more details and official photos!

To mark the end of the NBA Championship, Louis Vuitton has unveiled its first men’s wear capsule collection designed by Virgil Abloh as part of a three-year partnership with the National Basketball Association.

The Los Angeles Lakers clinched the franchise’s 17th championship on Sunday with a win over the Miami Heat. LeBron James secured his fourth MVP award, and his fourth title with his third team.

Interest in the LV x NBA collaboration spiked after images of one of the shoes, a light brown suede boot, leaked online late last month. Now WWD can exclusively reveal the key looks from the limited-edition collection, which goes on sale Nov. 20, including shoes, bags, ready-to-wear and jewelry featuring the NBA logo.

The deal, revealed by WWD in January, marks Vuitton’s first and only partnership with a North American sports league, and is designed to reflect Abloh’s vision of inclusion.

This collection celebrates the cultural contribution of basketball and its diverse characters, and the idea of relatability as a force of unity today,” the designer said in a statement.

Based on the idea of a player’s wardrobe, the collection is divided into three sections: travel, embodied by casual items like a gray cashmere track suit; game arrival, which includes leather jackets, monogram jeans and T-shirts, and press conference, featuring more tailored looks.

The NBA logo has been multiplied into a pattern resembling a houndstooth motif on a light gray suit, shirt and sweatshirt. It appears as a patch on leather jackets with a pattern inspired by the lines of a basketball, or as an intarsia inset on a cardigan with the LV initials on the back.

Bags also draw on the red, white and blue colors of the NBA emblem. They include a multipocket backpack with white contrast straps, a Keepall with a netted side panel reminiscent of a basketball hoop, and a new version of the Nil messenger bag, among others.

Shoes range from chunky-soled leather derbies to classic loafers, lace-up leather boots and slip-ons, each featuring the new LV x NBA logo on the footbed. Meanwhile, fashion jewelry includes chunky gold or rhinestone chains with NBA logo medallions.

The Larry O’Brien Trophy, presented annually to the NBA team that wins the finals, now travels in a case custom-made by six craftsmen working more than 100 hours at the Vuitton workshops in the Paris suburb of Asnières. Coated in the house’s signature monogram canvas, it is lined with microfiber in the NBA’s trademark blue.

Vuitton has created a matching double-door wardrobe trunk, designed to house clothing, accessories and footwear.

Vuitton opened the luxury doors to sportswear with its 2017 collaboration with Supreme, and the trend shows no sign of waning, as evidenced by recent partnerships between Prada and Adidas, and Dior with Nike’s Jordan Brand.

Louis Vuitton and the NBA have a capsule just in time for the Finals

Leather accessories for the rich and team-agnostic basketball fan.

After missing the mark on its first NBA collection in 2020, Louis Vuitton has slowly gotten the hang of what basketball style should look like. The French house is collaborating with the basketball league for its third chapter, creating a small series of luxury bags and leather goods. The collection includes a backpack, keep-all travel bag, wallet, and small duffle bag all appearing in matching bright blue leather with bold branding.

What’s in store — The duffle bag sports plenty of nods to the NBA, including the league’s logo on the zipper and a red, branded basketball at the center. Black hang tags add some embellishment, and white hoop netting appears at the bag’s sides. A similar makeup constructs the backpack, which features the same cobalt blue, monogrammed leather, NBA logo, and branded basketball. It’s secured with black straps and gold hardware and features more storage in the side pockets.

A bi-fold wallet also follows the design pattern, and the accessories are rounded out by a zippered travel pouch. A gold chain adds flair to the travel bag, and a smaller NBA logo is fitted at the bottom. Like in previous years, the French fashion house has also created a fresh “Official Travel Trunk” that bears space for the Larry O’Brien Trophy, which was redesigned by Tiffany & Co. The trunk is secured with folding doors, and details include a hand-painted “V” for victory along with the same LV basketball motif.

Third time’s the charm — The accessories mark the third collection between Louis Vuitton and the NBA, a multi-year partnership that was launched with Virgil Abloh in 2020. Louis Vuitton has become known for adding its luxurious appeal to its NBA collabs — including a mini basketball hoop and another extravagant trophy case — but aside from the official capsules, the label has also added its touch to other basketball-themed items for the superfans.

Prices for the capsule fall in line with the label’s high pricing, with the wallet coming in at $650, the travel bag at $1,700, the Keep-All at $4,300, and the backpack at $4,600. You can shop the Louis Vuitton x NBA accessory collection starting Thursday, June 2, on LV’s website — the very same day the Finals matchup begins with the Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics.

Louis Vuitton and the NBA Are Poised to Take Over the Tunnel Walk With Their New Collab

League-branded gear never looked so luxe.

In this world, there are NBA collabs, and then there are NBA collabs . The team-up between storied French fashion house Louis Vuitton and the National Basketball Association falls, without question, into the latter camp.

This isn't just Virgil Abloh and co. putting the iconic red, white, and blue silhouette of Lakers great Jerry West on a bag or a tee and calling it a day (though they did play around with that idea, to great effect, by pairing the NBA logo with LV's own iconic monogram as well as elevated references like embroidery that mirrors the lines you'll find on a basketball). This is a fully realized, 40-plus-piece collection inspired by three key aspects of an NBA player's life: travel, game arrivals, and press conferences.

That means the aforementioned bag has an interior strap and mesh panel to store and display a ball, but also enough room to stash, say, one of the new LVxNBA suits , which reinterpret the silhouette of the league's logo as an all-over jacquard motif. That's just the sort of thing to pair with black leather loafers with a tonal jacquard to match. Or you could mix it up and go a little more casual, with ankle-high boots and a royal blue, leather-and-wool hooded jacket . There's a lot to choose from. Which brings me to the other component of this partnership.

Instead of simply releasing the collection sans fanfare, Louis Vuitton took a little trip to Madison Square Garden to create a "virtual selling experience" that gives you a closer look at everything on offer. An Inside Look at the Louis Vuitton x NBA Capsule Collection II

In 2020, Louis Vuitton announced a three-year partnership with the National Basketball Association, fusing Vuitton’s iconic French luxury with American sports heritage. Now, the highly anticipated second installment of the collaboration is here. For Pre-Fall 2021, the capsule explores the collective memories of the two institutions throughout the height of basketball mania in the 1990s in a transversal celebration of pop culture, fashion, and sports.

Vuitton’s Men’s Artistic Director Virgil Abloh once again demonstrates his unmatchable creativity by translating this tribute into design by creating a collection that embodies the three wardrobes of a basketball player: travel, game, and press conference. The collection is comprised of casualwear manifested through quilted jackets and pants adorned with the Vuitton floral motifs, varsity-inspired styles like bomber jackets with graphic patterns reminiscent of basketball jackets, and signature Vuitton bags embellished with mesh detailing inspired by basketball hoops.  A tribute to the jewelry worn by basketball players in the 1990s, chain necklaces are supersized to extra-large dimensions. Similarly, a ring adorned with the LV x NBA logos mimics the championship rings central to the culture of the game.  The ultimate emblem of the LV x NBA union, Vuitton’s first-ever basketballs are made available in a 29.5″ life-size version, as well as the 5.11″ small-scale collector’s item sold with a hoop mounted on a backboard akin to the Houses’ trunk. 

Select pieces in the collection were conceived alongside the designer Don Crawley, an expert within the space of unifying design and sport. Crawley collaborated on a blouson, shorts and a Keepall adorned with the game’s iconography and the collection’s emblematic basketball and hoop objects.

Louis Vuitton ‘s self-proclaimed collectible Ball in Basket bag has just been released on its online store.

Previewed earlier in its joint lookbook with the NBA , the bag is part of SEASON 2 of the collaborative collection where it features full ball grain leather, gold-colored hardware, gold debossed NBA logos, internal LV lining, and a strap with a built-in luggage tag design.

The craftsman opened a humble workshop on rue Neuve des Capucines and advertised his services with a small poster that read: “Securely packs the most fragile objects. Specializing in packing fashions.”

Long before his brand would become known globally for its exemplary top-handle bags and stylish totes , Vuitton produced stackable and rectangular trunks . The most common trunks of the era were round, which weren’t ideal for toting and storing. In 1858, Vuitton debuted his lightweight, handcrafted canvas trunks, which were sturdy, rugged and equipped with convenient compartments. Travel’s popularity broadened in the late 19th century, and Vuitton’s trunks could easily be packed into train cars and ships — upright trunks meant hanging wardrobe storage that would allow his clients to transport their sophisticated garments without worry. Demand increased and the company grew. When Louis Vuitton died in 1892, control of the luxury house was passed onto his only son, Georges Vuitton.

In 1914, a Louis Vuitton store opened at 70 Champs-Élysées. The largest travel-goods store in the world at the time, it became the company’s flagship.
