The brake assist in my 2005 4RUNNER is pretty accurate. It knows when I need maximum brake force. I suppose that the system can be tricked by purposely switching from the accelerator to brake very quickly but that's the algorithm it uses to know that you are in a panic stop. Not sure what you mean by 'trick'.
