I was racially profiled by Celebrity Beyond

I was racially profiled. I was with my girlfriend (white) on a six-day Caribbean cruise. The day before we disembarked in Ft Lauderdale, they locked us out of our room. At Ft Lauderdale, Celebrity security took my passport and escorted me to Customs border patrol. They took my cell phone, and it's over 30 days. There is no reason from both Celebrity and Customs on what's going on and to get my iPhone 15 pro max and Samsung S20 FE back.

Great cruise until we had to leave ship…

Great cruise until we had to leave ship by 9.30am, due to flight change 2 months after booking we didnt not fly home until 6.30pm, reception told us there was a hop on, hop off bus outside we could go on with cases and drop off at airport, we were then told by another cruise customer we could extend our stay until 2pm at a cost of 99 dollars each (party of 4 over 70) which we did and then get a taxi to airport at 56 euros, on reaching airport families off ship had been there 6 hrs because of cost to stay on ship, shame on you Celebrity !!

How long does it take to book a cruise with celebrity - TOO LONG

CELEBRITY X Having not been on holiday since before the covid pandemic, and thanks to all the issues that ensued from that episode, some FIVE YEARS in total have elapsed. So we felt the time was now right to indulge ourselves, but what a travesty unfurled in our attempts using CELEBRITY X. A company we had no hesitation in using, as previously we had enjoyed a satisfactory cruise with customer focussed professional caring persona. So my question is “currently how long does it take to book a cruise, including a hotel and flights with CELEBRITY X”? The answer TOO LONG. Before you think I’m being a severe melodramatic complainer, let me assure you I could have visited the moon and returned to earth by now, using the current technology. Technology is the key word here; 1) My saga began on the 3rd of September 2024 2) As I write it is currently the 9th of September - SIX DAYS LATER - AND WE ONLY JUST RECEIVED CONFIRMATION OF OUR HOTEL. 3) TEN AGENTS HAVE BEEN SPOKEN TO (SO FAR) 4) FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE ATLANTIC 5) IT SYSTEMS APPEAR TO CONVENIENTLY BREAK DOWN, FREEZE OR ARE JUST UNRESPONSIVE. 6) FLIGHTS & HOTEL PRICES CONTINUOUSLY INCREASING 7) AGENTS GOING IN THE HUFF RESULTING IN; 8) THEIR RETURN CALL - 10 MINUTES BEFORE THEIR SHIFT ENDS - WITH A VIEW TO PRESSURISING YOU INTO SECURING A PURCHASE WITHOUT ALL THE INFORMATION BEING AVAILABLE 9) THIS AGENT WAS THEN UNAVAILABLE THE FOLLOWING DAY, SO TRANSFERRED TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE IN USA 10) WHERE SADLY THE SAME DISAPPOINTING LEVEL OF SERVICE PREVAILED 11) NAUSEATING & NUMEROUS SUBSEQUENT PHONE CALLS RESULT IN NO CONTINUITY AS YOU GET A DIFFERENT AGENT EACH TIME. 12) SIX HOTELS WERE OFFERED AND FIVE EVENTUALLY RESULTED IN BEING UNAVAILABLE FOLLOWED BY YET ANOTHER SEARCH 13) FLIGHT PRICES HAVE BEEN AMENDED ON SIX OCCASIONS WITH EACH OPTION GOING NORTH EACH TIME 14) PHONE ENQUIRIES AND EMAILS RESULT IN REASSURING BUT EMPTY PROMISES OF ALL BEING WELL. 15) EVEN TODAY THIS NAUSEATING EXPERIENCE CONTINUED IN THE SAME THEME FOUR AGENTS WERE PRESENTED WITH THE SAME INFORMATION AS PREVIOUSLY AND ON EACH OCCASION THE TRANSACTION COULD NOT BE COMPLETED WITH A CALL BACK PROMISED WHICH DID NOT MATERIALISE. 16) BUT AFTER FOUR AMENDED INVOICES BEING EMAILED TO ME QUOTING EITHER MISSED DATA OR INCORRECT PRICES AND THE CALL BACK NOT HAPPENING, I ONCE AGAIN HAD TO MADE CONTACT. 17) SO EVENTUALLY AFTER THESE NUMEROUS PHONE CALLS - AT MY EXPENSE AGAIN - A GENTLEMAN NAMED BRIAN ARRIVED ON THE SCENE - HE WAS SO PROFESSIONAL; - HE GOT THE PICTURE IMMEDIATELY - HE WAS UNHAPPY WITH THESE INVOICE ERRORS - HE DID CALL BACK - HE MADE SURE ALL THE INVOICE INFORMATION WAS ACCURATE - HE CORRECTED THE PRICE STRUCTURE - HE WAS PLEASANT, COURTEOUS, EFFICIENT, RELIEVING ALL THE STRESS CREATED BY THIS LONG SAGA. 18) - HE ALSO PRODUCED A FINALISED STATEMENT OF THE COMPLETED TRANSACTION I do remember the days when staff were courteous, conscientious, professional, and were able to deliver a service. And most probably and correctly you say - WHY DID YOU BOTHER - TOO MANT CHANCES GIVEN. MY ADVICE - BASED ON THIS EXPERIENCE IS - STAY WELL CLEAR OF CELEBRITY X, PROBABLY BEST TO AVOID THE WHOLE ROYAL CARIBBEAN GROUP AS THEY WILL MOST PROBABLY ACHIEVE THE SAME POOR STANDARDS. SO YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. FROM A FRUSTRATED AND UNHAPPY CHAPPY

Guest relations do not care...

I was on the same cruise as the person below (Equinox). Not the same experience. Advised Guest relations Staff that a person had defecated outside my room. No attempt to find the person and check if they were ok, mentally or physically. Not even an apology. (Out of their control apparently). Other staff said that they should have checked CCTV. They did clean up quickly but our party was put on edge from that moment on and it spoiled the whole experience completely.

When is champagne not Champagne, when you sail with Celebrity Cruises

When you book a holiday you do, at the very least ,have the hope that, when on that holiday, if you ask for a drink that is in the drinks package you've paid for then that drink will be provided. Sadly if you sail with celebrity Cruises this is not an expectation that is met. I've sailed with them many times and previously, if you asked for a drink that was in your package is was provided. This has now changed and when asking for a drink a cheaper alternative is given. Whilst on my recent 4 day cruise I had to consistently leave drink and return for others as the one I ordered was not supplied. This does not make for a relaxing holiday experience and must be very difficult for staff who are clearly been trained to try and get customers to drink something they haven't ordered as its cheaper. Beware if you're sailing with them as this is not the standard you would expect of a previously good cruise line.

Alaska cruise - The Edge

Alaska The Edge 24/07/24. Fabulous cruise - ship is amazing. Alaska out of this world. My wife is vegan and the chefs in all the restaurants, went out of their way to make her great vegan dishes. One chef in Le Oetit Chef, made her vegan caviar starters, mushroom and vegetable pie and vegan dessert. The chefs were so good and proud of their culinary delights. We are so grateful. Also the bartenders I. The Martinj bar. Made our evenings ( and some afternoons). They are fantastic. Watch their cocktail show every night. Thank you Martini boys. You really made our evenings.

This cruise line is all about…making money

This cruise line is all about extracting as much money out of you as possible. There is no customer service and no scruples. We paid more than this cruise than we would have done for a lesser cruise line. However our experience with a cheaper cruise line has been much better. I would not book with these guys again.

SINGLE PERSONS, DON’T GO

SINGLE PERSONS, YOU GET DISCRIMINATED. We booked a cruise for 5 people. We paid total 7500,00 euros. We had to cancel because one person experienced an ischemic stroke right before our departure. Because of this only 1 person of our group is still going on the cruise. Since he is a person that travels alone, he is required to pay an additional fee of 900 euros (above the 7500 euros!). So this means that a single person pays 1.5 times the price of 2 persons. Meaning, this company discriminates people that travel alone!

Recently sailed with Celebrity X on the Apex to the Fjords from Southampton and it was amazing. I have sailed previously with other cruise liners but 1st time with Celebrity X and have to say I will 100% be returning to Celebrity X as the ship, dining, service by the staff, entertainment and whole experience was fantastic! Highly recommend both Celebrity X Apex and the Fjords! Thank you for a relaxing and amazing holiday you really did exceed expectations!

Sorry to say but I am very disappointed…

Sorry to say but I am very disappointed with Celebrity Cruises. The worst part are the transfers. Going out was not very good but coming back from Athens in Greece was a complete nightmare. They just dumped us five hours before departure and told us to check-in. This Cruise company claims they are selling you a luxury product but they latch onto bucket and spade airline companies on either end of the travel. The worst bit was when I complained to the staff from Celebrity Cruise at the airport that they were not interested and just said they were subcontractors working on behalf of celebrity from a company called Infinity. I then got my telephone out and took photos of the staff. They got the Police on to me and took my phone and deleted the images including my family pictures on the trip! They said go ahead and try and complain now!!

I recently had the pleasure of sailing…

I recently had the pleasure of sailing on the **Celebrity X Equinox**, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. This cruise exceeded all my expectations, providing a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and fun. **The food was simply outstanding**. Every meal was a culinary delight, from the elegant main dining room to the specialty restaurants. The variety and quality were remarkable, with each dish beautifully prepared and bursting with flavor. Whether you’re a foodie or just someone who enjoys a good meal, the dining options on the Equinox will leave you thoroughly impressed. **Entertainment on board was top-notch**. There was never a dull moment, with a wide range of activities and shows to suit all tastes. The production shows were Westend caliber, and the live music throughout the ship added to the vibrant atmosphere. The performers were talented and engaging, making each night a special event. What truly made this cruise stand out, though, was **the crew and service**. From the moment we stepped on board, we were treated like royalty. Every member of the crew went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic experience. Their professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail were exceptional. Whether it was our stateroom attendant, the waitstaff, or the guest services team, everyone made us feel welcome and pampered. **The service was impeccable**, with every request met with a smile and prompt attention. It's clear that the crew on the Celebrity X Equinox takes great pride in their work, and it truly shows. Overall, our cruise on the Celebrity X Equinox was a dream vacation. The combination of exquisite food, world-class entertainment, and outstanding service made this an experience I will cherish for years to come. I highly recommend this ship to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable cruise experience.

Cancelled flights ruined our cruise vacation

Our flights, which were booked by the cruise line, were cancelled the day of the cruise. The company did not provide us any guidance, customer service did not return our call, did not provide an E-Mail or text, or any support to assist us. We missed our Alaskan cruise and the company did not provide any rebooking or reimbursement for the $10,000 lost on the cruise.

Very bad experience with Celebrity Infinity due to excessive tip billing without asking for our consent.

I was on a cruise in Greece From Athens to Thessaloniki and back. 7 days. I have been on a Caribbean cruise from Fort Lauderdale, USA. The difference is very big. I ordered a double room with a balcony. I received a junior sweet at no extra charge in the Caribbean. On Celebrity cruise I ordered a double room with window and got a $400 upgrade offer for a balcony room. On Caribbean cruse I was not required to tip and I rewarded those who did a good job personally, on Celebrity I got a bill for $350 for automatic tipping for staff $18/day/person $36/day (this is absolutely unacceptable) and what I drank in the restaurant was billed twice compared to what I ordered. Very bad experience, do not recommend. About tips (gratuities) I come from Denmark and here tips are not acceptable and against the law, no one explained clearly about gratuities what they mean and when we paid for the cruise we didn't expect the cost to increase so much. If I had been informed about the full cost, I probably would have chosen another company.

Balcony stateroom was appalling !

Flight to Barcelona generally ok, pick up at airport was poorly organised but having cruised before we knew the ropes. Through embarkation onto ship in anticipation of seeing our stateroom! On entering the room the disappointment hit us immediately. The condition of the room was appalling! Stained carpet, broken glass light fixtures, broken picture frame hanging off the wall, dirty carpets food droppings and dust underneath bed, settee cover stained, dressing table chair old scuffed and peeling fabric, balcony was dirty, drainage gully blocked, glazing stained and dirty, paint on handrail, decking and balcony furniture, shower outlet noisy, dust covered bed side cupboards. It was a total letdown! I have cruised many times before and was on this ship maybe 10 years ago, I have never seen anything like this before. Hold your heads in shame Celebrity ! Anyone who knows anything about holidaying on cruise ships knows how much we enjoy seeing the stateroom. We will never cruise again with Celebrity. I wish I could add photos so you could all see what Celebrity offered up as 5 star accommodation! Please be warned when considering this cruise line for your next holiday.

Visit to vancouver, alaskan cruise, and 3 day day calgary with Rodeo

This was my first cruise and time in Canada and Alaska. My husband and i found the experience one we will never forget. The ship was organised and the staff helpful and friendly. Daily entertainment was plentiful and easy to find with quiet areas for others including the sky observation area which i loved. So much food choice and bars, gift shops. I thought meeting the Captain and crew was a great touch. The choice of land trips was so organised and gave us great experiences such as gold panning and canoeing. So thank you celebrity for best experiences and memories.

Every thing went wrong from start to…

Every thing went wrong from start to finish. Celebrity cruise are the biggest thieves. Didn’t have AMERICAN VISA.. CHARGED 700 US Dollars. And that was not for visas. We applied for visa. Costed us 21 US dollars. And on top of it everyday tip was 18US dollar per person per day. Finally when we left mini bars charge was 12.75 US dollars. WE NEVER USED ANYTHING FROM MINIBAR. I AM TELLING EVERYONE. PLEASE BE CAREFUL BOOKING THE TRIP WITH CLEBRITY CRUISE. BURNT OUR FINGERS ONCE NEVER AGAIN

Beware, your deposit is NON-REFUNDABLE. We cancelled our cruise in October thinking that we had a deadline of August to cancel and get our money back but we lost our deposit of $900. We did take a trip with Celebrity years ago and had a good experience so we gave them another try but NEVER AGAIN.

The WiFi is absolute garbage

The WiFi is absolute garbage, can’t make a simple phone call for more than 30 seconds wifi it ending. Everything else is absolutely amazing but the wifi is really just bad enough to make it a one star. If you have loved ones at home do not book.

Once Upon a Time Celebrity Was Great Not Anymore

Have cruised 2 prior times with Celebrity and this was the 3rd cruise. Paid for the Retreat package. 2 months before sailing several of the Retreat benefits such as butler etc were removed from sailings without reducing the price ie it was bait and switch or more $$$ for less service. Tried to cancel but would have lost our deposit of nearly $1000. Food was average, given what we got and paid for it was totally over priced and is by NO means a luxury cruise - would have been cheaper with Carnival (sailed 10+ times with CC) and had the same level of service if not better. Excursions were average at best. We were charged $14 for a bottle of water that was supposed to be included in the room and customer service refused to budge but asked for a 5 star review - we gave everyone a 1 star review because of the customer service rep. Room attendant was rude and made smart comments that we could have done it ourselves when we asked him to clean out the room refrigerator. The list goes on and on. Clearly not the cruise line it once was under the prior President and it is evident that the current president Ms. Laura Hodges Bethge is turning Celebrity into RCL 2.0 as that is where she came from. Don't waste your money you can get much better for less elsewhere.

So many mistakes made by Celebrity X &…

So many mistakes made by Celebrity X & they still can't provide correct invoice, final payment due in 7 days! This has been going on for 6 months. Have rang & emailed numerous times to no avail! Incapable of providing timescale or advise who is managing this. Speak to someone different everytime. Very frustrating & stressful. Even my written complaints have not been acknowledged. I would give zero stars as the service goes beyond poor.

Celebrity Shore Excursion Reviews

WEGL81

One of the issues I have had in the past with X shore excursions is that the descriptions often don't match reality. So having honest reviews from people who have been on the excursions is extremely helpful. However, I have noticed a pattern and I'm wondering if it is due to X's infamous website follies or if people just don't know what they're doing. How many times have you read an excursion review and someone had written a review of the whole cruise? Or, even worse, a review of a completely different cruise? It's usually to complain about something, so they give it a low rating (the cruise) which ends up affecting the excursion rating. It's very frustrating. You see that an excursion has a 2* rating, you investigate and find out there was one 4* from a person who went on the actual excursion and a 1* from someone who had a bad experience on the cruise and placed their entire cruise review on the excursion. Anyone else notice this?

My sister recently submitted a negative review of a Celebrity Bermuda excursion. Her biggest complaint was that the excursion was not as described. Celebrity rejected it. They said that it didn't meet their standards. I suggested that she post it on cruise critic and trip advisor.

My favorite ones are the people who clearly don't get the "1 is horrible to 5 is excellent" rating system. I have read more than one review where the person gave it one star then went on to rave about how it was the best day of their trip.

I've noticed that more than the other.

something that has been going on since day one.

the info supplied is never 100% correct. there can be two or three tours and they sometimes are the same.

I've written a couple negative reviews that were published. I think you have to be careful not to accuse anyone of anything. One person posted on CC that his review as rejected by X. He wrote it down here and it had things like accusing the tour operator of getting kickbacks.

I've cancelled a couple excursions while onboard because the description on the ticket didn't match the description when I bought the excursion.

It can go both ways. the Shore excursion canceled our tour because the lack of people interested.

And even with the tour filled they added a bus. so it can be very misleading.

We have only done 1 X shore Excursion and we were pleasantly surprised. Last year one of our ports was Marseilles and I want to visit the village of St Remy and Les Baux and could not find private tour so chose ship's tour. although it was on a big bus it was very nice and as a complete surprise and not listed in the itinerary was a visit to Carrieres de Lumieres and old quarry that features works of art projected on the walls accompanied by wonderful music. I had read about but did expect to be able to visit. Breathtaking!

We've had a few good excursions with X. I think the best was between the 17 mile drive in Monterrey and a bus trip to Mt Teide in Tenerife.

Hi Cool cruiser, I am really impressed with your bio and want to know how you got that set up on your login? I am not very computer savvy. Thanks

Holiday Sharing

I have to say generally we have been happy with descriptions re tours and the tours themselves.

On recent cruises, amount of walking, steps...has been an issue for me and I have found the information on this very honest. We were also impressed with the shore desk who found a staff member who had actually been on one of the tours we were considering to help us decide if a tour was doable with my limitations.

We find looking at reviews you do have to be selective...as someone else said their review may be coloured by other things from their present or past experience. Sometimes simply the more frequent cruiser may be harder to impress 'we had much better snorkling in *****'or a new cruiser may have unrealistic expectations 'the Acropolis was too busy...'.

I was just in 3 of the Celebrity Excursions and 2 of them left a lot to be desired.  The "Mountain Views and Villa Botanica" was laughable at best!  We went to the "Villa Botanica" which since the hurricane 5 years ago, (they admitedly) haven't replaced the signs describing the plants.  Also, no "tour guide" to tell us what we were seeing as we walked the grounds nor where to go, so I'm sure we missed some of the place.  The  offered "rum tasting" didn't happen.  Also there was a broken/rusted old truck at the very entrance that hasn't "run" in at least 10 years.

The other awful "tour" was the "Carambola Beach Break"... it was simply a beach with about 150 umbrellas, completely devoid of any palm trees to give out shade.  BUT they charged $10 to open the available umbrellas, so at $1500 for the 2 tours that come to their place, it's a nice $3000 a day!  The public or other beach not owned by Carambola had nice palm trees that not only gave shade but beauty to their beach.

MoveUp is it a good move?

For those of you that have used MoveUp and been upgraded was it a good move for you?  Do you get moved to the lowest slots in the new category?

How does this work out?

I booked an interior room and bid $235 per person to get moved up to AquaClass for a seven day cruise. My upgrade wasn't too the greatest room, but I did a fake booking to see what other AquaClass rooms were available and had them switch me to one of those rooms. Works nicely if done correctly.

If you use MoveUp you need to be happy with whatever cabin is assigned.  You get moved to whatever cabin is available in the new category.  If often is from a cancelation and thus could be anything.  If you are in an inside or OV cabin it can be great.  Same to a suite. If you are picky about cabin location or happy with the cabin you booked then it is not for you.

Since most MoveUps are within three days of your sailing hard to change cabins in that situation

ymncruise

You never know. I moved from an inside guarantee to a hump veranda on deck 8. I bid $5 over the minimum. There were lots of veranda cabins left on my sailing. Your chances are probably better if the ship has a lot of availability close to the sailing date. I don’t usually bother bidding if the ship seems pretty full.

NutsAboutGolf

Only issue is picking a specific location but getting a move up room that’s under a noisy location such a pool deck or the gym

miched

Is it worth spending more money than you originally intended to?   If you were happy with the category you booked why pay more to change?

We have a SS booked .   We received a email informing us that move ups were available.   It looks like a bargain to bid on the PH compared to the other categories.    Even if I got it for the minimum offer of $2000 pp it is way more than I want to spend and don’t see the added value.  It is for a 7 day cruise.   Our SS was $4700 total.   It would almost double the cost of the cruise.

the min is move up to a CS is $1500 pp and AQ suite $400 pp.

Only you can decide and evaluate if it is worth it to you

I’ve done it twice and it has worked out very well. Just went from concierge room which we had already got a good price on to Sky Suite and yes it was the lowest in that category.

I also did it in August and went from an inside cabin to balcony.

Very pleased with the results.

Many people would say they don't see the added value for the Sky Suite, and that it more than doubles the cost of the cruise. If you see the value in the sky suite, why wouldn't other see the value in the upper suites?

To each their own. For our last cruise, I booked a Sky Suite for $4k. I would have loved to have booked a Royal Suite, but at over $12k, I couldn't justify it. I called my TA about upgrading twice (before and after final payment), and was quoted $7k to upgrade each time. When Move Up came around, I bid $3k and got it! It was probably a once in a lifetime experience as generally the upper suites sell out. I thought it was worth the extra.

It was my first ever Move Up bid. Generally, we travel in multiple cabins with our kids. It was just hubby and me for the first time since 2015, and it was his birthday, so I splurged booking the sky suite, then again on the Move Up. Our next cruise in April is in an inside. 🙂

12 hours ago, NMTraveller said: For those of you that have used MoveUp and been upgraded was it a good move for you?  Do you get moved to the lowest slots in the new category?   How does this work out?

You get whichever stateroom of the category is available. It can be but does not have to be the lowest slot. After all, they won´t move other bookings around. However, most of the time there´s a reason why the stateroom is available. Yes, it could be a good location and somebody cancelled or other people moved up. But it can also simply be a less desired location and the stateroom didn´t sell. So bid whatever you feel is worth for a stateroom that will be a quarantee stateroom. You´ll have to live with the location. Once accepted there´s no way back.

1 hour ago, Lillibet16 said: I’ve done it twice and it has worked out very well. Just went from concierge room which we had already got a good price on to Sky Suite and yes it was the lowest in that category.    I also did it in August and went from an inside cabin to balcony.    Very pleased with the results.

I've never bothered with move up bids. Prefer to wait until after final payment to see whats available then make the change. Sometimes for a nominal amount and other times the price is the same.

50+ Club

We sail soon on Edge in a SS. We have had two offers from X to upgrade since final payment, the most recent offer was slightly higher than the original offer (the second offer was about 7 weeks to sailing).

What I found interesting is that the upgrade path to a Royal Suite, was LESS than the path to a Celebrity Suite! (I will try to add the screen shot here... but my computer skills are slightly less than my cooking skills - I'm sure my DW will agree)!  😇 . The price to upgrade from SS to RS was $2020 PP CDN vs $2695 PP CDN to upgrade to CS.

Screen Shot 2022-11-09 at 4.12.56 PM.png

I've been moved up a number of times.   You are upgraded to whatever is open but I suggest set your mind to getting the worst room in the category and be elated if you get a good one.

A couple times I've received accessible Sky Suites which aren't my favorite but was happy to get a Suite on a long sold out cruise.

Celebrity Cruises earns high marks from cruisers and experts alike, thanks to its upscale design and innovative cuisine. Celebrity's fleet departs from U.S. cities like Honolulu , Miami , Boston and Seattle . While you can sail on a smaller vessel like Celebrity Xpedition, which transports only 48 passengers, you can also cruise on a larger ship like Celebrity Beyond , which can host up to 3,260 guests.

Regardless of the ship you select, you can expect a high level of customer service, with each ship carrying approximately one crew member for every two passengers. Celebrity's ships ply waters all around the globe, with sailings making stops in Asia, Europe and the Caribbean, among other popular destinations. Voyages span anywhere from three to 18 nights, and excursions vary by cruise duration and itinerary.

No matter which itinerary you choose, you'll find a full docket of onboard activities, including wine workshops and glassblowing classes, as well as relaxing pursuits like spa treatments. When you work up an appetite, check out the fleet's variety of dining options, ranging from the Main Restaurant to several specialty venues.

U.S. News Insider Tip: Download the Celebrity Cruises app a few weeks before your cruise to take full advantage of features like scanning your passport and choosing an arrival time. On the ship, you can use the app to start your guest safety briefing, chat with loved ones onboard, reserve dining and excursions, track your onboard spending and organize your calendar of day-to-day activities. On Edge Series ships, you can even use the app to control the TV, lighting, temperature and window shades in your stateroom. – Skye Sherman, Contributor

Before You Book

  • Full payment must be made 75 days prior to departure for most voyages. Special sailings require final payment 105 days in advance of your scheduled sail date.
  • Celebrity Cruises' cancellation policy varies by itinerary, duration and whether you choose to purchase a CruiseCare benefits package. Cancellation policies for your voyage can be found on the cruise line's  FAQ page .
  • Children younger than 1 are not allowed to sail on Celebrity Cruises' trans-Atlantic, trans-Pacific or select South American sailings, or voyages that require three or more consecutive days at sea. For all other cruise itineraries, Celebrity requires passengers to be at least 6 months old.
  • You must be 21 years old to sail unaccompanied on voyages originating in North America and 18 years old for cruises departing from South America, Europe, Asia, Australia and New Zealand (with some exceptions).
  • Passengers in need of special medical equipment or extra assistance should call Celebrity's Access Department at 954-628-9708 or email [email protected] before their scheduled departure date.

Before You Board

  • Travelers must have a passport that is valid for at least six months after the completion of their cruise (or three months for cruises with ports in the European Union). If you are on a voyage that begins and ends at the same port in the U.S., you will only need a government-issued photo ID or a birth certificate. Consult Celebrity's  FAQ page  to determine if (based on your nationality and travel plans) you need to acquire a visa before sailing.
  • Along with your passport, remember to bring necessary health documentation, like an inoculation certificate. Vaccination requirements vary by destination. Celebrity advises passengers to consult the  website .
  • To expedite the process, you can check-in online up to three days prior to departure. In-person check-in is required at least two hours before your scheduled sail time. You must board the ship at least one hour before your cruise departs.
  • Celebrity recommends booking port excursions and dinner reservations through your Celebrity account before your cruise begins. Travelers can also book dinner reservations and shore excursions once they board the ship. To book dinner reservations during your cruise, call or visit the restaurant's maitre d'. Additionally, Specialty Dining Packages must be purchased at least two days before your departure date.

Disclaimers about ship ratings: A ship’s Health Rating is based on vessel inspection scores published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). If a ship did not receive a CDC score within 22 months prior to the calculation of its Overall Rating, its Health Rating appears as N/A; in such a case, the ship’s Overall Rating is calculated using the average Health Rating of all CDC-rated ships within the cruise line. All ship Traveler Ratings are based on ratings provided under license by Cruiseline.com.

Date of experience : 30 June 2024

This is a dishonest company. We booked a flight through Celebrity Cruises. We had to cancel the flight due to a family emergency. We called Celebrity Cruises and they said they would refund us $1,700.20 of the 2,150.20 we paid. The remaining $450.00 could not be refunded because of a cancellaton fee.

  5. Celebrity Cruise Line

Unfortunately for Celebrity, the first part of the review is the bad bit. The Company for first timers is poor at best. There is just is not enough information out there to help you get the most out of the ship/ cruise and as for preparing for the cruise, it is almost non-existent.

  6. Is The Retreat on Edge worth it?

Posted February 16, 2023. For us, absolutely yes! We have sailed in a Sky Suite on Apex and Royal Suite on Edge, and our experience in The Retreat on both ships was fantastic. We would likely not spend the extra money for anything beyond a Sky Suite in the future, as the Royal Suite was a splurge for a special occasion.
