Jonas Brothers setlist: Here are all the songs at their electric 'The Tour' concerts

Portrait of Anika Reed

NEW YORK – The brothers are back.

Four years after their comeback Happiness Begins Tour, the Jonas Brothers are on the road again for their The Tour , which kicked off with the first of two sold-out shows at Yankee Stadium Aug. 12.

The New Jersey natives are chronicling five of their studio albums as the marathon beginning to their tour, supporting their latest LP, "The Album."

Building on the anticipation and format of their five-night Broadway stint earlier this year , songs from their newest album were sprinkled through the three-hour show.

Act I featured their first two albums, "Jonas Brothers" and "A Little Bit Longer," while Act II cycled through "Lines, Vines and Trying Times" and "Happiness Begins."

Joe, 33, Nick, 30, and Kevin Jonas , 35, dedicated songs to their wives in the audience ( Sophie Turner , Priyanka Chopra and Danielle Jonas, respectively) and praised the original JoBros fans for sticking with them for more than 15 years, even after a brief hiatus in the mid-2010s.

"I'm so proud we got (ourselves) together so we could be here tonight," Nick Jonas said. "We've seen a lot of people who have been with us from the beginning."The Tour is jam-packed with more than 60 songs from their Disney Channel start to their grown-up sound.

Watch Sammy Hagar Perform ‘Jump’ and ‘Panama’ for First Time in 20 Years

By Andy Greene

Andy Greene

Sammy Hagar kicked off his Best of All Worlds tour Saturday night at the iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach, Florida. He was joined by bassist Michael Anthony, guitarist Joe Satriani , drummer Jason Bonham, and multi-instrumentalist Rai Thistlethwayte for an evening jammed with Van Halen classics and a smattering of solo songs and tunes by Montrose, Chickenfoot, and Satriani.

The show was heavy on songs from Hagar’s tenure in Van Halen including “Poundcake,” “Right Now,” “Runaround,” “Why Can’t This Be Love,” and “When It’s Love.” But he did dip back into the David Lee Roth era by breaking out “Jump” and “Panama” for the first time since Van Halen’s ill-fated 2004 reunion tour. And Anthony took over lead vocals for “Ain’t Talkin’ ’bout Love,” which has been a staple of Sammy Hagar and the Circle shows since 2022.

Every awful thing trump has promised to do in a second term, the 250 greatest guitarists of all time, the 500 greatest albums of all time, the 50 worst decisions in movie history.

Satriani spent months preparing for the difficult task of replicating Eddie Van Halen’s guitar parts. “He just had a beautiful touch on the guitar,” Satriani told Rolling Stone in December 2023. “He played with such intensity. I don’t want to generalize and say that he made everything sound good, but he did. You notice that when you have one of his guitars and his setup or his model, he just can’t be replaced.”

just friends tour setlist

Warren Haynes, Mark Karan and Bob Weir at the San Jose Performing Arts Center, July 10. Photo: David W. Clark © 2008

Well, Dead Heads across the land have certainly had copious opportunities to see the former Grateful Dead members play live lately. Phil Lesh & Friends, Bob Weir & RatDog, the Bill Kreutzmann Trio, the Mickey Hart Band and Donna Jean & the Tricksters were all truckin’ down that Golden Road in the late spring and into the summer, sometimes crossing paths at festivals, and all making some fine music along the way.

One of the coolest developments of recent months has been the continuing emergence of iclips.net as a reliable source for music fans everywhere to catch bands like these (and many others!) on the Internet: All but RatDog made one or more appearances on iClips; Phil & Friends were on three times in July alone.

For Phil & Friends, the momentum created at their amazing five-night run at the Warfield in San Francisco (you can read about that here ) carried over to their shows up and down the East and Midwest. Several of the songs they’d broken out for the “album shows” at the Warfield found their way into the summer concerts, and an added treat was the ongoing presence of singer Teresa Williams (guitarist Larry Campbell’s wife), who offered assured vocals on a variety of tunes, including “Dancing in the Streets,” “China Doll,” “Till the Morning Comes,” “High Time” and others. Levon Helm and a horn section joined the group for a rousing version of the Band classic “W.S. Walcott Medicine Show” at the group’s New Hampshire show, and there was also one new Jackie Greene breakout on the tour—“When You Return,” a tune from his Giving Up the Ghost album.

Jackie will be on a Western tour with his own band from mid-August to mid-September (for details go to https://jackiegreene.com ), with a Phil & Friends show at the Slow Food benefit in SF at the end of August, in the middle of all that. Then Phil & Friends pick up again in early October for a six-pack of shows with the mighty, mighty Allman Bros., one with the Black Crowes, and finally, beginning on Halloween, a 14-show run (dubbed the Philathon) at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square. For all Phil-related info, go to https://phillesh.net .

Meanwhile, as we write this is mid-August, RatDog is on the road for a 13-date tour, with 12 of those shows billed with the Allman Bros., sure to be a great night of music! The ’Dog has had a great year so far, with Mark Karan comfortably back in the fold and playing better than ever. On their late June/early July tour, they played many dates with Government Mule opening, and to no one’s surprise there was lots of cross-pollination between the two bands, with Bob and other members of RatDog often joining the Mule for a song or two, and then Warren Haynes (and often Mule keyboardist Danny Louis) coming on during RatDog’s set. The result was some great, spirited jamming. So it was no surprise, either, that there has been some inter-band action between the 'Dog and Allmans, too, on the current tour. For RatDog info, go to the band’s official site at https://www.rat-dog.com , or the excellent fan site https://www.ratdog.org .

What follows are the Phil & Friends and RatDog set lists from the late spring and summer tours.

Breaking Down All of Taylor Swift’s ‘Eras Tour’ Surprise Song Mash-Ups and What They Could Mean

Breaking Down All of Taylor Swifts Eras Tour Surprise Song Mash Ups and What They Could Mean

Some Swifties have been luckier than others when it comes to the surprise songs set of Taylor Swift ’s The Eras Tour .

Since launching her record-breaking tour in March 2023, Swift has used the penultimate section of her show to perform songs across her entire discography that aren’t included in the concert’s expansive setlist. On occasion, however, Swift has used the portion of the show to debut special mash-ups of her most famous tracks.

Swift began the trend during a November 2023 show in Buenos Aires, combining “Is It Over Now?” and “Out of the Woods” from 1989 (Taylor’s Version) . That same month, Swift revealed that she would be breaking her own surprise songs rule of only performing a track once for more of her international Eras Tour dates.

“I decided that in 2024, when we go back on tour, I’m just gonna open back up all the songs for surprise songs,” she told fans during a show in São Paulo, Brazil, noting that her entire discography was “fair game.”

‘Is It Over Now?’ and ‘Out of the Woods’

One month after 1989 (TV) ’s October 2023 release, Swift surprised Argentina fans with a mash-up of songs from the album. Swifties immediately made a connection between the two tracks as both are rumored to be about the pop star’s ex Harry Styles .

The vault track “Is it Over Now?” features the lyrics, “When you lost control / red blood, white snow.” The exes, who were romantically linked from late 2012 to early 2013, famously got into a snowmobile accident in 2012, after which Styles was photographed with a bandage on his chin.

In the song, Swift also sings about sitting in a “blue dress on a boat,” a nod to being photographed in a blue dress while on a boat not long after her and Styles’ split.

“Out of the Woods,” is also speculated to be about Styles and Swift’s snowmobile incident, featuring lyrics such as, “Remember when you hit the brakes too soon? / Twenty stitches in the hospital room.” The song’s lyrics also make reference to the paper airplane necklaces they were each seen wearing during their brief romance.

‘Getaway Car’ / ‘August’ / ‘The Other Side of the Door’

After beginning to play Reputation ’s “Getaway Car” on guitar during a February 2024 concert in Melbourne, Australia, Swift surprised fans by transitioning the tune into “August” from Folklore , which is included in the tour’s main setlist. She rounded out the acoustic performance by adding “The Other Side of the Door” from Fearless (Taylor’s Version) .

“I want to play one that you really want to hear, I want you to be happy,” she told the crowd, per social media footage from the show.

Fans once again were quick to notice a connection between the songs as all three discuss infidelity. The lyrics to “Getaway Car” compare being stuck in a romantic situation with three people to being a “sideshow,” while “The Other Side of the Door” asks the question if the other woman in a relationship was “worth the mess” it caused.

“August,” meanwhile, is one of three Folklore songs that tells the story of a love triangle, including “Cardigan” and “Betty.” The track follows the story from the perspective of a girl named August, with whom a boy named James cheated on his girlfriend Betty.

‘come back … be here’ and ‘daylight’.

For her third Eras Tour concert in Melbourne , Swift grabbed her guitar to sing a mash-up of “Come Back … Be Here” from Red (Taylor’s Version) and “Daylight” from Lover . While “Come Back … Be Here” tells the story of a person hoping to rekindle a broken romance, “Daylight” sees Swift discuss leaving behind the mess of past relationships after seemingly finding her perfect partner.

“And I can still see it all (in my mind) / All of you, all of my (intertwined) / I once believed love would be (black and White) / But it’s golden (golden),” Swift sings in “Daylight.”

It was during her third Melbourne show that Swift revealed she might repeat surprise songs throughout the remainder of the tour. “I want to be as creative as possible with the acoustic set moving forward, and I don’t want to limit anything or say, ‘Oh, if I played this song, I can’t play it again,’” she told fans, per social media footage . “So, from now on, I don’t want to take any paint colors out of the paintbox [or] tools out of the toolbox.”

‘White Horse’ and ‘Coney Island’

Swift continued her leg of Australia Eras Tour shows in Sydney. During her first night in the city, Swift brought out her opening act, Sabrina Carpenter , to sing a mash-up of “White Horse” from Fearless (TV) and “Coney Island” from Evermore after Carpenter’s performance was canceled due to poor weather.

The lyrics to both songs follow the endings of relationships after the people involved realize their romantic connection was not how they thought it would be or not how it once was.

‘should’ve said no’ and ‘you’re not sorry’ / ‘peace’ and ‘new year’s day’.

Swift performed her first set of double secret song mash-ups during her second Sydney Eras Tour show in February 2024. She began by combining “Should’ve Said No” from her self-titled debut album, Taylor Swift , and “You’re Not Sorry” from Fearless (TV) on the guitar. Both of the breakup tracks discuss relationships in which one partner was not faithful.

Swift followed up the mash-up by performing Folklore ’s “Peace” with Reputation ’s “New Year’s Day,” both of which see the singer analyze her romances. While “Peace” sees Swift question whether her fame is keeping her from maintaining “peace” in a relationship, Swift asks her partner to “please don’t ever become a stranger whose laugh I could recognize anywhere” in “New Year’s Day.”

‘Is It Over Now?’ and ‘I Wish You Would’ / ‘Haunted’ and ‘Exile’

Swift performed another mash-up of 1989 (TV) tunes , “Is It Over Now?” and “I Wish You Would,” as her guitar surprise song during Sydney Night 3 . The concert marked the second time Swift used “Is It Over Now?” in a mash-up with another track rumored to be about Styles, having previously done so in Buenos Aires in November 2023.

After performing the upbeat songs on her guitar, Swift headed over the piano to sing a mash-up of “Haunted” from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and “Exile” from Folklore . On theme with many of Swift’s surprise song mash-ups, both breakup tracks tell the story of realizing a relationship was not what it seemed on the surface.

‘Forever & Always’ and ‘Maroon’ / ‘Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve’ and ‘Ivy’

For her final night in Sydney, Swift hit fans with two more secret song mash-ups featuring some of her biggest tracks. On piano, Swift performed Fearless (TV) ’s “Forever & Always” with Midnight ’s “Maroon.” For the guitar secret song, she combined Midnight ’s “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” with Evermore ’s “Ivy.”

The performances seemingly dispelled the theory that Swift performs her most emotional tracks while wearing her yellow surprise songs dress . Swift instead sported the green version of the dress, which she has also worn in maroon and blue, for Sydney Night 4.

Swift’s official fan account, Taylor Nation, seemingly confirmed there’s no correlation between her surprise songs dress color and the tracks she performs. “#SydneyTSTheErasTour, the past four nights with you have kept us on the edge of our seats! Thanks for bringing *the chant* back and crying with us during the mashups!” they tweeted after the show, adding, “We fear all the dresses now … 🫣.”

‘Mine’ and ‘Starlight’

Swift performed a mash-up of “Mine” and “Starlight,” from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and Red (Taylor’s Version) , respectively, during her March 2, 2024, concert in Singapore.

“This has become my favorite part of the show because it’s become very chaotic and it’s become a challenge for me to think of new things to do for every single city,” she said in her introduction . “And hope that I’m doing something that you guys might like. It’s been a blast!”

Breaking Down All of Taylor Swifts Eras Tour Surprise Song Mash Ups and What They Could Mean

‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’ and ‘Dress’

Swift’s second acoustic number on March 2 mashed up “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever,” her 50 Shades Darker duet with Zayn Malik , and “Dress” from Reputation .

Swift’s official Instagram went live to share the performance with her followers, many of whom think it is a clue for the arrival of Reputation (Taylor’s Version) . Certain Swifties even pointed out that “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” came out in December, the 12th month of the year, and “Dress” is the 12th song on Reputation ’s OG tracklist.

‘Long Story Short’ and ‘The Story of Us’

Swift kicked off her March 3, 2024, acoustic set in Singapore with Evermore ’s “Long Story Short” on guitar. Her number evolved into a mash-up with “The Story of Us” from Speak Now (Taylor’s Version).

‘Clean’ and ‘Evermore’

Swift’s second surprise song on March 3 combined the 1989 (Taylor’s Version) track “Clean” with Evermore from her 2020 album of the same name. The piano mash-up occurred moments after Swift announced the “final edition” of The Tortured Poets Department , which is called “The Black Dog.”

“[These are] two songs about healing from a sky that ‘turned black like a perfect storm’ and a ‘gray November,’” one X user pointed out about the song choices, quoting the respective lyrics. “This album is about heartbreak, but also about healing.”

‘Death By A Thousand Cuts’ and ‘Babe’ / ‘Fifteen’ and ‘You’re On Your Own, Kid’

For her fourth show in Singapore on March 7, Swift performed two emotional mash-ups spanning four albums during the surprise song set. On guitar, Swift combined Lover ’s “Death by a Thousand Cuts” with Red ’s “Babe,” two fan-favorite breakup songs. While “Babe” — which Swift originally wrote for Sugarland before releasing it as a vault track on Red (TV) — reflects on a lover’s infidelity and broken promises, “Death by a Thousand Cuts” recalls the slow and painful deterioration of a relationship and is based on the Netflix movie Something Great .

On piano, Swift performed a mash-up of “Fifteen” from Fearless and “You’re On Your Own, Kid” from Midnights , marking her fifth performance of the latter, which is now her most-played surprise song of the Eras Tour so far. When Swift began singing “Fifteen” in a different key than usual, fans began to speculate the emotional Midnights track would be coming next. Both songs’ lyrics show Swift reflecting on the innocence of youth, although she wrote “Fifteen” when she was 18, and penned “You’re On Your Own, Kid” more recently as part of her 2022 album.

‘Sparks Fly’ and ‘Gold Rush’ / ‘False God’ and ‘Slut!’

Swift went for more mash-ups during her Singapore Eras Tour show on March 8. On the guitar, she opted for “Sparks Fly” from Speak Now and “Gold Rush” from Evermore . These two songs appear to depict opposite sides of a relationship. “Sparks Fly” is about the feelings expressed during the beginning stages of a romance while “Gold Rush” is the more realistic side of a crush. Swift sings about how she is jealous of a possible suitor and cannot be with them because they are loved by everyone.

For her piano songs, Swift chose Lover ’s “False God” and “Slut!” from 1989 (Taylor’s Version) . Both of these seem to have more sexual undertones. “Slut!” references the slut-shaming Swift received in the public eye over the years, and the lyrics of “False God” lean into promiscuity.

Breaking Down All of Taylor Swifts Eras Tour Surprise Song Mash Ups and What They Could Mean

“Tim McGraw” and “Cowboy Like Me” / “Mirrorball” and “Epiphany”

Swift once again delivered two mash-ups in Singapore. For her guitar song on March 9, she quipped that she felt “nostalgic” since it would be her “last show for a while” until May, which led into “Tim McGraw.” Halfway through, Swift began strumming the chords to Evermore ’s “Cowboy Like Me.”

Later, Swift took to the piano to mash up the two Folklore tracks of “Mirrorball” and “Epiphany.”

“The Alchemy” and “Treacherous” / “Begin Again” and “Paris”

During her fourth and final Paris concert in May, Swift performed two mash-ups. On the guitar, she sang The Tortured Poets Department ’s “The Alchemy” — which is widely believed to be about her romance with boyfriend Travis Kelce , who was in attendance — and Red ’s “Treacherous.”

For her piano song, she belted out Red ’s “Begin Again” and Midnight’s “Paris.” (Swift also performed “Paris” during the first night in the city.) “When she says I’m so in love that I might stop breathing my heart melted because she literally is so in love,” a user wrote via X , referencing the lyrics to “Paris.”

‘I Think He Knows’ and ‘Gorgeous’

For Swift’s first May 2024 concert in Sweden, she mashed up the Lover and Reputation songs for her guitar surprise song. At one point, she sang, “I think he knows that he’s gorgeous,” which several fans believed was a subtle shout-out to boyfriend Kelce.

Days before the Sweden show, Swift jetted off to Lake Como, Italy, with the NFL tight end in between concerts. (Kelce did not make it to the gig as his Kelce Jam festival in Kansas City took place on the same day.)

‘Say Don’t Go,’ ‘Welcome to New York’ and ‘Clean’

For the first time, Swift performed a trio mash-up for her second Stockholm, Sweden show. The piano rendition took place during the 89th show on her Eras Tour.

‘Message in a Bottle,’ ‘How You Get the Girl’ and ‘New Romantics’

As Swift kicked off the surprise song set of her final Sweden concert, she revealed that Max Martin was in the crowd. While the “shy” songwriter was not interested in coming up on stage for a duet, he did want to hear one of their early 2012 collaborations live. Swift did one better and came up with a “Max Martin medley” of three Red and 1989 tracks.

‘Come Back, Be Here,’ ‘The Way I Loved You’ and ‘The Other Side of the Door’ / ‘Fresh Out the Slammer’ and ‘High Infidelity’

Swift performed two mash-ups of three songs during her first concert in Lisbon in May 2024. The guitar one featured the first time on the Eras Tour that “The Way I Loved You” made the setlist.

Swift’s piano mash-up of the TTPD and Midnights songs sparked fan theories that she is confirming the viral April 29 speculation .

“Did she just confirm where she was on April 29th … was literally my first thought,” an X user wrote.

Swift mentions April 29th on “High Infidelity,” which fans have inferred is about cheating and believe occurred in 2016 when Swift attended Gigi Hadid ’s birthday party solo amid her romance with Calvin Harris . Days later, Swift went to the Met Gala. Her now-ex, Joe Alwyn , was at the fashion fundraiser that same night. Swift never addressed what allegedly happened on April 29 in any year.

‘the tortured poets department’ and ‘now that we don’t talk’/ ‘you’re on your own, kid’ and ‘long live’.

For Swift’s second Eras concert in Lisbon, she gave them a guitar surprise song that she had never played live before in the title track from TTPD. After playing nearly the entire song, she launched into “Now That We Don’t Talk” from 1989 (Taylor’s Version ). Her piano mash-up of “You’re On Your Own, Kid” and “Long Live” had fans in their feels.

Both “You’re On Your Own, Kid” and “Long Live” have widely been thought of as Swift’s songs dedicated to Swifties. In the Midnights track, Swift mentions friendship bracelets. The lyric inspired concertgoers to trade their own beaded baubles at Eras shows. Meanwhile, “Long Live” has been Swift’s ode to her supporters harking back to her Speak Now album. (“Long Live” had been added to the setlist when her Taylor’s Version came out in 2023 but was removed to make room for a TTPD section.)

‘Sparks Fly’ and ‘I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)’ / ‘I Look In People’s Windows’ and ‘Snow On The Beach’

During her first show in Madrid, Swift had the crowd singing along when she mashed up the choruses of “Sparks Fly” and “I Can Fix Him (No Really I Can)” on the guitar. For the piano portion, Swift performed a heartfelt rendition of “Snow On The Beach” and “I Look In People’s Windows.”

While in the middle of singing the chorus of “Snow On The Beach,” the crowd went wild at the thought Lana Del Rey would pop up on stage to perform the duet. However Swift shut down the fans’ dreams in the post-chorus, by saying “It’s just me guys, sorry,” before transitioning back to the TTPD track.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift

‘the prophecy’ and ‘long story short’ / ‘fifteen’ and ‘you’re on your own kid’.

For Swift’s first night in Lyon, France, she surprised concertgoers with a song she hadn’t yet played live: “The Prophecy” from TTPD . Swift performed the track on the guitar, blending it with Evermore ’s “Long Story Short.” Moving to the piano, the pop star mashed-up two songs: “Fifteen” and “You’re On Your Own, Kid.”

Fans were quick to point out that these songs may be a nod to Kelce. In “The Prophecy,” Swift sang about her hope to find love and wondered if she’ll end up alone. In “Long Story Short,” Swift makes it clear that she “survived” that doubt-filled period of being with the “wrong guy.”

Her piano number is also believed to be a tribute to Kelce. Fearless ’ “Fifteen” describes dating “the boy on the football team,” a lyric which has resurfaced since she began dating the NFL player. “You’re on Your Own, Kid,” from 2022’s Midnights , prompted fans to trade their own friendship bracelets at Swift’s Eras Tour shows — which is exactly what Kelce did to give Swift his number in summer 2023.

Taylor Swift Has Hilarious Wardrobe Malfunction at the Eras Tour in Stockholm

‘Glitch’ and ‘Everything Has Changed’

‘would’ve could’ve should’ve’ and ‘i know places’ / ‘tis the damn season’ and ‘daylight’.

Swift performed two mash-ups during her first June 2024 concert in Edinburgh. Her guitar rendition of “Would’ve Could’ve Should’ve” and “I Know Places” was briefly halted when she spotted a fan looking for help.

“She’s right there. I’m just gonna keep playing until somebody helps them, I’m gonna be singing this song,” Swift told security guards. “Just let me know. I can do this all night.”

‘The Bolter’ and ‘Getaway Car’ / ‘All the Girls You Loved Before’ and ‘Crazier’

Swift mashed up the TTPD track with Reputation ’s “Getaway Car” during her guitar surprise song during Edinburgh Night 2 in June 2024. She then migrated to the piano to perform “All the Girls You Loved Before” with a special mid-song introduction to “Crazier.”

“You get extra credit points if you know this next song at all because it is really, really old,” Swift quipped, referring to the Hannah Montana the Movie single.

The Edinburgh piano mashup was Swift’s first time playing “Crazier” on the Eras Tour , which many fans think is a clue that the rerecorded version of her album Taylor Swift will feature “Crazier” as a vault track. As Swift sang the lyrics, the audience’s LED bracelets lit up green. The emerald hue has since become a symbol of the debut record.

‘It’s Nice to Have a Friend’ and ‘Dorothea’ / ‘Haunted’ and ‘Exile’

During her June 2024 guitar surprise song set in Edinburgh, Swift performed the Lover song with Evermore ’s “Dorothea.” For the piano, Swift mashed up “Haunted” with the Folklore track.

Eagle-eyed fans were quick to point out that Swift had already put the breakup tracks — Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) song and “Exile” — together during her Sydney Eras Tour performance in February 2024.

‘This Is What You Came For’ and ‘Gold Rush’ / ‘The Great War’ and ‘You’re Losing Me’

Swift noted during her first Eras Tour concert in Liverpool that she wanted to surprise the crowd with her acoustic pick. Enter her decision to play “This Is What You Came For,” Calvin Harris and Rihanna ’s 2016 duet. Swift, who previously dated Harris, is credited as a songwriter for the track under the pseudonym Nils Sjöberg. At the June 2024 concert, Swift paired “This Is What You Came For” with the Evermore song “Gold Rush.”

On piano, Swift combined “The Great War” and “You’re Losing Me,” both from Midnights.

‘Guilty as Sin?’ x ‘Untouchable’ / ‘The Archer’ x ‘Question…?’

During her July 4th show, which was her first night in Amsterdam, Swift performed a new TTPD song “Guilty as Sin” on guitar combined with a deep cut from Fearless (Taylor’s Version) . “We’ll see how this one goes,” she joked before she played the mashup.

For piano, Swift delivered a Lover favorite, “The Archer,” combining it with “Question…?” from  Midnights .

Breaking Down All of Taylor Swifts Eras Tour Surprise Song Mash Ups and What They Could Mean

‘I’m Gonna Get You Back’ x ‘Dress’ / ‘You Are in Love’ x ‘Cowboy Like Me’

During night two in Amsterdam on July 5, Swift chose a mashup of “I’m Gonna Get You Back” off TTPD — her first time playing the song live — and Reputation’s “Dress.” She followed it up on piano with 1989’s “You Are in Love” — which she said she chose because the lyrics mention bikes, one of her “favorite” parts of Amsterdam — and Evermore’s “Cowboy Like Me.”

‘Sweeter Than Fiction’ x ‘Holy Ground’ / ‘Mary’s Song (Oh My My My)’ x ‘So High School’ x ‘Everything Has Changed’

During her third concert in Amsterdam on July 6, Swift brought out some fan favorites, starting with one of her earliest Jack Antonoff collaborations, “Sweeter Than Fiction.” She combined it with the Red track “Holy Ground” on guitar.

Her piano selections held a special meaning and were seemingly dedicated to Kelce, who was spotted getting emotional in his VIP suite as Swift mashed up “So High School” — which is already part of the TTPD setlist — with Red ’s ‘Everything Has Changed” and “Mary’s Song (Oh My My My)” from her debut album. The 2006 ballad coincidentally features a nod to Kelce’s jersey number, 87.

‘Right Where You Left Me’ x ‘All You Had to Do Was Stay’ / ‘Last Kiss’ x ‘Sad Beautiful Tragic’

When the Eras Tour stopped in Switzerland on July 9, Swift performed the beloved Evermore bonus track with a 1989 classic. Lyrics from “Right Where You Left Me” — “You left me no choice but to stay here forever” — contrasted perfectly with the chorus of “All You Had to Do Was Stay.”

The Eras Tour has been so long that Swift has played “Last Kiss” twice on (or close to) the date mentioned in the Speak Now song. This time around, she combined it with a ballad from Red .

‘Closure’ x ‘A Perfectly Good Heart’ / ‘Robin’ x ‘Never Grow Up’

In Zurich on July 10, Swift performed two songs on guitar that were never-before-played on the tour, mashing together an Evermore track with the last remaining track from her self-titled album.

On piano, she debuted the TTPD song “Robin.” She previously sang “Never Grow Up” at a Kansas City show in July 2023.

Michael Campanella/TAS24/Getty Images for TAS Rights Management

‘superstar’ x ‘invisible string’ / ‘slut’ x ‘false god’.

For her first night at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, on July 17, Swift seemingly celebrated Kelce’s attendance by singing a mashup of two love songs. She began by singing “Superstar,” originally released on the Platinum Edition of Fearless .

The track, also featured on Fearless (Taylor’s Version) , includes sweet lyrics: “So dim that spotlight / Tell me things like ‘I can’t take my eyes off of you’ / I am no one special / Just another wide-eyed girl / Who’s desperately in love with you / Give me a photograph to hang on my wall / Superstar.”

The selection could have been a nod to Kelce attending what might be his last Eras Tour show before beginning NFL training camp for the 2024/2025 season. In the full song, she sings, “Morning loneliness comes around / When I’m not dreaming about you / When my world wakes up today / You’ll be in another town.”

“Invisible String,” meanwhile, was originally inspired by Swift’s ex Alwyn but has since become a reference to her connection with Kelce as fans have found surprising links between the couple from before their romance began.

In another apparent shout-out to Kelce during her July 17 Germany show, Swift performed two of her steamiest songs from 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and Lover . Some fans pointed out that the singer skipped over some lyrics from both tracks that allude to fighting between romantic partners. At one point in the mash-up, she also combined lyrics from both tracks, singing, “I’ll still worship this love even if they call me a slut.”

‘Speak Now’ x ‘Hey Stephen’  / ‘This Is Me Trying’ x ‘Labyrinth’

Swift did another double mash-up for Gelsenkirchen night 2, which Kelce also attended. Fans have presumed the tracks were Swift’s declarations of love for her boyfriend.

“I just wanted you to know I’m falling in love again,” Swift sang in her piano rendition of “This Is Me Trying” and “Labyrinth.”

LOUDER THAN LIFE 2024 Complete Setlist Playlist

How do we know what songs bands are going to play before a tour or festival?

Tours:  To create the setlist playlists, we look at the most recent shows of the artists and import those setlists, then combine them in the order that the bands will likely appear. When you see other artists songs in the middle of a set, we’ve included original songs that are covered by the band but have not been released by the performing artist. Once a tour has started, we try to update the setlist playlists to better match what the bands are playing on this specific tour.

When there is no setlist information for a band, mostly newer/upcoming bands; we will contact them to get setlist info. When we hear back, we build a setlist based on what they give us. If not, we will create a possible setlist from their Spotify top-10.

We will add new singles to upcoming and current setlist playlists if they were just released or if the band has not played any shows since the single was released.

Festivals:  Festival setlist playlists are usually alphabetical to allow users to quickly find the bands they want to hear. Festival sets are almost always a bit shorter than headline shows or opener slots on regular tours. We use the setlist from these shows; therefore, a band may have eight tracks in the festival setlist playlist but only play five songs at the show. If the band has recently played other festivals, we will use that setlist.

Special Shows:  In the case of one-off shows, shows with known special guests, benefit concerts, etc.; the setlist playlists may include sets of artists, hits of the artists and special guests, cover songs that guests artist have performed that are somehow related to the show. We love to get insider information and fan insights leading up to these shows! Fan interaction only can make the setlist playlists better. As noted in the FAQ section, if you notice any mistakes in our setlist playlists, on the website, in a post or if you have insight about a setlist; please contact us via DM in FB, IG, TikTok, X or email  [email protected] . If there are any Kevin’s or Karen’s out there that have a problem with what we do or just want to complain; STFU, just keep scrolling, nobody likes you.

Things To Do

Entertainment | george strait and friends came for a good time at ford field.

George Strait performs Saturday, July 13, at Detroit's Ford Field (Courtesy Ford Field)

And both happened on Saturday, July 13, when Strait topped an era-spanning bill — with Chris Stapleton and Little Big Town — at Ford Field not long after the Tigers pullout their win over the Los Angeles Dodgers right across the street at Comerica Park.

In his own kind of semi-retirement since launching his long-running The Cowboy Rides Away farewell tour back in the mid-2010s, Strait now plays just a handful of shows in any given years. He’s only doing 10 this year, all stadium dates — including one in College Station, Texas on June 15 whose 111,000 turnout was the largest single concert attendance in U.S. history.

He’s not entirely done; the proclaimed King of Country has a new album, “Cowboys and Dreamers,” due Sept. 6 and he still maintains clothing and boot brands — all advertised on the video screens throughout the night — and a Codigo tequila brand, which he gave a plug via song during his encore.

Most importantly, Strait — who last played the metro area 10 years ago — has the music, 31 albums’ worth since 1981, when he became one of the vanguards of country’s New Traditionalist movements, a man in a hat armed with songs touting well-traveled themes and musical motifs. From “Unwound” and “Amarillo By Morning” — which he introduced as the best song he’s ever recorded — Strait has been a fixture at the top of the country charts, and on Saturday night nothing sounded dated at all.

And neither did Strait. At 72 his face showed some age, but his rich, slightly drawling tenor rang as true and strong as ever, and his jeans still fight as tight as they did four decades ago. Good on him — and, yeah, maybe we were a little jealous.

Singing from three different microphone positions on the stage, he declared early on that he was “Here For a Good Time,” and that’s exactly what Strait and his 11-member Ace in the Hole Band — with Detroit native John Michael Witby on keyboards, who donned a Tigers cap for his introduction — gave the 47,065 fans, including many visitors from out of town, at Ford Field. Strait was there for a long time, too, a nearly two-hour and 10-minute show that worked its way through 31 songs from his catalog, including new material such as “Three Drinks Behind,” “The Little Things” and a rendition of Waylon Jennings’ “Waymore’s Blues,” one of two covers — along with an encore of Johnny Cash’s “Folsom Prison Blues” — that gave the Ace in the Hole players some room to stretch out in a jammy fashion. (Strait also paid tribute to Merle Haggard with “Are the Good Times Really Over…”).

Otherwise the songs — an array of honky tonkers, Texas two-steppers and high and lonesome ballads — were kept mostly neat, tight and faithful to their original versions. The favorites came in waves, and a favorite moment came when Stapleton joined Strait on stage towards the end of a version of Townes Van Zandt’s “Pancho & Lefty” and stayed there for two more tunes he wrote for Strait — “You Don’t Know What You’re Missing,” which came out in 2013, and the upbeat “Honky Tonk Hall of Fame” from the new album.

There were touching moments as well. Strait dedicated “The Weight of the Badge” to first responders, making an oblique reference to the shooting incident at a Donald Trump rally earlier in the say as he said, “Thank you for coming when we need you. We appreciate that so much, especially after today.” And after “I Saw God Today,” Straight brought representatives of the Military Warriors foundation on stage to award a house to a veteran.

The only down part of the night was that significant numbers of fans streamed out during the last quarter of Strait’s show — possibly because of the overall length of the three-act show — even before he got to the very biggest hits such as “Troubadour,” “All My Ex’s Live in Texas,” “Take Me to Texas” and a brief bit of “The Cowboy Rides Away,” which Strait used for his final bows. It was their loss, of course, especially since it may well be the last time that gleaming, million-dollar smile gets flashed in these parts.

George Strait performs Saturday, July 13, at Detroit's Ford Field (Courtesy Ford Field)

The good time extended to the night’s other acts, of course. Little Big Town offered a strong hour of its hit-laden career, starting with arguably it’s best tunes — “Boondocks,” “Hell Yeah” and “Little White Church” — and keeping the hits (“Pontoon,” the Taylor Swift-written “Better Man,” “Girl Crush”) coming. The quartet’s backing band also featured a Detroiter, drummer Hubert Payne, who had friends and family waving from their seats on the stadium floor.

Stapleton — with, yes, his own Detroit native, the iconic Paul Franklin, on pedal steel — had, of course, headlined his own local stadium show, at Comerica Park, two years and a week before. He affirmed his award-winning Americana eminence with an 85-minute, 17-song set filled with what’s become his own formidable parade of hits, including the chart-toppers “Starting Over” and “You Should Probably Leave” along with the likes of “White Horse,” “Traveller,” “Millionaire” and more. Most were laced with Stapleton’s ferocious guitar solos, while harmonica legend Mickey Raphael — a longtime Willie Nelson cohort — added textures and was featured during “The Devil Named Music,” which Stapleton opened with a verse from Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird.”

He added “A Simple Song” to the set in a sweet dedication to his father-in-law’s birthday (Stapleton’s wife Morgane is part of his band), and while there was plenty of fire throughout the show he finished on a gentle note with “Fire Away,” “Broken Halos” and David Allan Coe’s “Tennessee Whiskey,” the latter a smooth bridge into Strait’s barrage of country music history.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Meets With Trump at the R.N.C.

The political rivals met just hours before Republicans formally named Donald J. Trump their presidential nominee, and as Mr. Kennedy was set to receive Secret Service protection in the wake of the assassination attempt on Mr. Trump.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at a rally.

By Rebecca Davis O’Brien and Theodore Schleifer

Reporting from Milwaukee

  • Published July 15, 2024 Updated July 19, 2024, 8:01 a.m. ET

Follow the latest news on Trump and the Republican National Convention .

The independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. met with former President Donald J. Trump on Monday in Milwaukee, a remarkable encounter in the hours before Mr. Trump officially became the Republican nominee.

The Kennedy campaign confirmed the meeting after early reports of the encounter stirred speculation that Mr. Kennedy was planning to drop out of the race and possibly endorse Mr. Trump.

“Yes, Mr. Kennedy met with President Trump today to discuss national unity, and he hopes to meet with leaders of the Democratic Party as well,” said Stefanie Spear, a spokeswoman for the Kennedy campaign. “And no, he is not dropping out of the race.” She added, “He is the only pro-environment, pro-choice, antiwar candidate who beats Donald Trump in head-to-head polls.”

The conservative commentator and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson helped broker the meeting, according to two people briefed on the matter. Mr. Carlson, who was with Mr. Trump at the R.N.C. in Milwaukee on Monday night, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The meeting came less than two days after a failed assassination attempt on Mr. Trump at a Pennsylvania rally, an event that recalled the 1968 killing of Mr. Kennedy’s father, Robert F. Kennedy, when he was campaigning for the Democratic presidential nomination.

And it comes as Mr. Kennedy is now set, after months of failed efforts , to receive Secret Service protection. On Monday, Alejandro Mayorkas, the secretary of homeland security, said at a White House briefing, “In light of this weekend’s events, the president has directed me to work with the Secret Service to provide protection to Robert Kennedy Jr.”

Earlier Monday, Mr. Trump had posted on Truth Social that Mr. Kennedy should receive protection.

Our Coverage of the Trump Rally Shooting

The Investigation : F.B.I. officials told Congress that the 20-year-old gunman who tried to kill Donald Trump used his cellphone and other devices to search for images of Trump and President Biden .

Security Blind Spots : Even as investigators continue to examine what happened at the Trump rally, it is already clear that there were multiple missed opportunities to stop the gunman  before the situation turned deadly.

The Gunman : In interviews, former classmates of the suspect described him as intelligent but solitary , someone who tried to avoid teasing by fellow students.

Secret Service Director : Kimberly Cheatle  returned in 2022 to lead the agency she had served for nearly 30 years. Now, the assassination attempt on Trump has thrown her tenure into uncertainty .

Fears of What’s Next : Among voters, there is growing anxiety that America’s political divide is nearly beyond repair, and the shooting only made things worse .

Morgan Wallen's Phoenix concert was a hot, sweaty, sold-out celebration of hits

Portrait of Ed Masley

Morgan Wallen is clearly enjoying his moment as the biggest country singer on the planet.

The two sold-out concerts that brought him to Chase Field in Phoenix on July 19-20 are part of a tour in support of this year’s biggest album, "One Thing at a Time,” which has spent a record-breaking 15 weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s album chart, the most any album has managed in this entire decade.

And as Wallen took great joy in sharing with the fans who crowded into Chase Field on July 20, he was told he’d broken the attendance record for back-to-back nights in that venue, which seats more than 48,000.

What was up with the Chase Field air conditioning?

He also noted that he’d never done a concert wearing shorts before.

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

“It feels like they might actually have the AC on here tonight, so y’all are luckier than the people last night,” he said, with a grin. “This is my first time I ever wore shorts on stage because last night I was soaking wet when I got done and I didn’t like it too much.”

As the audience cheered, Wallen added that it was “still pretty damn hot,” a statement that could not have been more accurate, especially with all those flames shooting out of the stage.

And yet, for all the fireworks and flames, what ultimately filled the room was Wallen’s self-assured delivery of his songs in that whiskey-soaked Tennessee twang that made it feel like he was singing just for you.

Half the songs in Morgan Wallen's set were from 'One Thing at a Time'

He wasn’t shy about shining a spotlight on his latest album, which accounted for 12 of the 24 songs in his performance , holding back on "Last Night," his first No. 1 on Billboard's Hot 100, for the encore.

He opened with a pyro-laden “Up Down,” the first of four songs from his first full-length release, 2018’s “If I Know Me,” and sprinkled in seven selections from “Dangerous: The Double Album.”

He also brought two of his openers — Hardy and Ernest — back on stage to join him on “He Went to Jared” and “Cowgirls” respectively.

And after bringing his encore to a spirited conclusion with the biggest country single of 2019, "Whiskey Glasses," while wearing a Pat Tillman jersey, Wallen stayed behind a good five minutes longer than his bandmates, signing autographs for fans down in front as people filed out of the ballpark.

As he told the crowd before "'98 Braves," "I thought I'd be playing ball in one of these things, not singing music, but I think I like this even more."

Concert review: Dierks Bentley came home to rule Country Thunder Arizona: 'This is what made me who I am'

Morgan Wallen's highlights included 'Sand in My Boots' and 'Thought You Should Know'

I would argue that he could’ve done a few more songs from “Dangerous,” a 2021 release that holds the record for most weeks at No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Album charts.

But at least he cherry-picked a handful of the album’s most enduring songs, from “More Than My Hometown” and “Wasted on You” to the mournful rendition of “Sand in My Boots” that closes the bonus edition of that album, with Wallen accompanying himself on an upright piano that had his name emblazoned on the back.

“Sand in My Boots” was arguably the concert’s emotional centerpiece, but a solid case could be made for the new album’s “Thought You Should Know,” a Miranda Lambert co-write that he said he’d written for his mama.

That heartfelt ballad clearly hit home for the singer with its chorus “I thought you should know/ That all those prayers you thought you wasted on me/ Must've finally made their way on through.”

The evolution of Morgan Wallen

It’s no secret that Wallen has lived a life that would’ve tried the patience of most mamas.

His career was temporarily derailed in early 2021 by his drunken shouting of a racial slur, captured on video outside his Nashville home.

Wallen’s label suspended his contract while Spotify, SiriusXM, Pandora, Apple Music, CMT and the nation's most powerful radio chains — Cumulus Media, Entercom and iHeartMedia, the largest U.S network — pulled his music.

Wallen responded by retreating from the spotlight; entering rehab; donating money to assorted charities, including the Black Music Action Coalition and the National Museum of African American Music; urging fans not to defend him; and apologizing for his actions.

Two years later, he’s more popular than ever. But the asterisk remains.

Not that it seemed to make the slightest bit of difference to the folks who came out Thursday night in Phoenix as he led the crowd in one spirited singalong after another in a set that kept the focus squarely on drinking songs, love songs and songs about trying to make your mama proud while also wishing you could have another drink.

The performative small-town resentment you get with the likes of Jason Aldean — the ham-fisted gospel of "us" against "them" — was nowhere to be found in Wallen’s set. His depictions of life in a small town are closer in spirit to John Cougar Mellencamp’s “Small Town” than Aldean's belligerent “Try That in a Small Town.”

Did he say a word that never should’ve left a white man’s mouth? He did. And there is no excuse for that.

But Wallen wasn’t fanning any flames in Phoenix. He could not have been more apolitical as he kept the concert squarely focused on the universal themes of country music that predate the absurdly divisive political flags they sell at Country Thunder Arizona.

This was a guy who just wanted to sing about drinking and heartache — and drinking and heartache — and trying as best he can to be a better Morgan Wallen.

It’s something he does really well. In a way that could not feel more human. Or more honest. Which is how he got to be the biggest country singer on the planet.

There are those who swear his popularity was somehow fueled by what he said that night. But there was nothing in Wallen’s performance — or the crowd’s reaction — to suggest that that had anything to do with what brought all those people out to Chase Field.

Remembering Jack Curtis: Why Alice Cooper calls this Phoenix teen-club impresario "our patron saint."

Jared Leto's Thirty Seconds to Mars kicks off tour in Milwaukee opposite GOP convention

A nyone in Milwaukee during the Republican National Convention wishing they could be on another planet could have seen Mars Wednesday night.

While Donald Trump’s vice-presidential running mate JD Vance was speaking at Fiserv Forum, Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto was rocking the Rave’s Eagles Ballroom for his band Thirty Seconds to Mars’ North American "Seasons Tour" kickoff.

"We wanted to play Milwaukee. and I asked somebody that works with us who said, 'Nah, you probably shouldn't play Milwaukee this time,'" Leto said late in the band's 97-minute set Wednesday, to a roar of boos. "And then my brother (Mars drummer Shannon Leto) says, 'Why don't we go back and play the Rave's Eagles Ballroom?' And this is our eighth (expletive) show in this building. So thanks to Shannon for bringing this up and adding this last minute."

Get daily updates on the Packers during the season.

Indeed, the Milwaukee show was just announced in May, months after the band's other tour dates.

And the pushback on a Milwaukee stop might be legit: Thirty Seconds to Mars was the only major band that dared to bring their tour to Milwaukee during the RNC, slotted ahead of Rock Fest headlining duties in Cadott Thursday.

Yet, while this may have been the band's eighth concert at the Rave, it's been a very long time. Mars' last show in town, at this venue, was in 2010.

Given those circumstances, even with the RNC in town — and even though he's expressed support for Democratic presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden in the past — Leto didn't discuss politics at all Wednesday night, which was probably appreciated by most fans.

The closest the band came to the topic was their 2017 anthem "Walk on Water," with Leto vaguely referencing the "far right," and "left view," "breaking all those promises made."

Like much of Mars' music, "Walk on Water," lyrically, lacks specificity. And there are times the band's music lacks originality, too. For the band's live rendition of their song "City of Angels" Wednesday, Leto sounded a lot like Bono, touring guitarist Stevie Aiello sounded a lot like the Edge, and Shannon Leto sounded a lot like U2 drummer Larry Mullen Jr.

But no one is seeking Mars' for bold experimentation or deep messaging.

The Letos love arena-scale anthems, with catchy, easy-to-follow (of if you're a cynic, easy) singalong hooks. Aside from stripped-down takes of "Do or Die" and "From Yesterday," the other 15 songs from Wednesday's set were very much in that mode.

And all of them, lyrically but most obviously structurally, echoed the takeaway from that pseudo-political "Walk on Water" — a call for unity. It's a broad message, but, given the way of the world these days, a topical one.

And Thirty Seconds to Mars certainly accomplished that mission in Milwaukee, with the crowd joining forces for "Hurricane" with an appropriately forceful a cappella singalong, and battle-line-ready chant-a-long cheers to "Fight" for "This Is War" under a shower of confetti.

Shannon Leto's forceful drumming, most aggressively on "Night of the Hunter," added to the evening's grandeur, while a lighting rig that rapidly flashed back and forth between two different colors for "Attack" Wednesday made the stage look like it was throbbing (although the band should consider some printed out warnings in future venues for any fans who prone to seizures).

Then there was the movie star who was the star of the show.

It should come as no surprise, for an actor who brought such intensity and commitment to roles in "Dallas Buyers Club," "Requiem for a Dream" and as the Joker in "Suicide Squad," Leto was determined to give this concert his all — going so far as to praise one superfan's bored-looking date to help them have a good time.

Coming on stage with shades, a tight black mesh top, black cape, pink fingerless gloves and neon shoes, Leto led the crowd through ecstatic jumps and passionate belting for set opener "Up in the Air," and convinced dozens of people to get on top of someone's shoulders for "Closer to the Edge" at the very end (perhaps to security's chagrin).

All along the way, he upheld that charismatic, impassioned mentality, from flinging himself into a pirouette for "Hail to the Victor," to jumping down into the crowd to sing with and embrace fans from far stage left to far stage right for "The Kill (Bury Me)."

That wasn't the only physical connection Leto made with fans Wednesday. He can light up a room with ease, but as much fun as he had playing rock star, he seemed happiest letting fans fill that role. Ahead of "Rescue Me," he asked the worst dancers in the room to join him on stage; seven fans danced with abandon behind him and beside him. The fan who requested "Do or Die" was also invited on stage, with Leto wrapping his arm around them as he sang the tune, while for "Closer to the Edge" at the end, about 30 fans got to flood the stage, including one boy who was invited to yell out an F-bomb (perhaps to their parents' chagrin).

Whether you think any of the suits speaking at Fiserv Forum for the RNC this week would stand with the commoners will depend on your political persuasion. But Leto made it clear at Thirty Seconds to Mars' Milwaukee show Wednesday that he was a man of the people.

3 takeaways from Thirty Seconds to Mars’ Milwaukee concert

  • Multiple bars and restaurants have reported slow business this week despite the Republican National Convention being in town. Is it possible folks wanting to steer clear of Milwaukee this week also hurt Mars' ticket sales? Given this was a tour kickoff, a smaller-than-usual venue and the band’s first Milwaukee show in 14 years, I figured they would quickly sell out the Eagles Ballroom. But despite the Rave being far removed from blocked roads and security perimeters, Wednesday’s show wasn’t sold out. That’s also despite tickets, initially going for $60 to $70, being offered in recent weeks with 25% discounts. That said, the ballroom was still quite full — and for those who missed the show, Leto hinted that they may be back again next year.
  • The Rave has been making good use of its front parking lot for a few years now with occasional food trucks. Now, after a recent renovation, it's essentially transformed into a beer garden with some tea lights, lit-up trees, flowers and a few trucks serving drinks and grub Wednesday. It's a nice touch for a concertgoers — and a smart incentive on the Rave's part to lure customers earlier.
  • Comparing the singing voices of the crowd to “angels in the Sistine Chapel,” opener Jagwar Twin (stage name for Los Angeles native Brandon Wronski, and formerly known as Roy English) led a singalong at the end of his set — of the “Oompa Loompa” song. Technically, it was an original, “Bad Feeling,” which borrows heavily from the “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” earworm, complete Wednesday with Jagwar Twin hopping around like he’d just chugged a bottle of Fizzy Lifting Drink. That it's Jaqwar Twin’s biggest song is largely because it’s based on another song may not be the most impressive flex — although set opener “The Circle,” reminiscent of a Celtic funeral ballad and initially performed a cappella and with Twin wearing a ski mask, showed he didn’t need a preexisting hit to make an impression.
