J. Balvín was born José Álvaro Osorio Balvín on the 7th of May 1985. Born and raised in Medellín, Antioquia, Colombia, he debuted as a reggaeton singer in 2009 and has since become one of the country’s biggest musical exports in recent memory.

The young Balvín was surrounded by music from an early age. There was a true melting pot of music that he heard on the radio in his youth, but it was the rap, champeta, bachata, and reggae that truly inspired him later in life. After studying music whenever he could during his schooling, he started writing and producing his own music in 2004 at the age of 19.

He amassed a back catalogue of 100 songs before signing to EMI Colombia in 2009, and his first single, the same years "Ella Me Cautivó”, made as much of a name for himself in the States as it did in his home country. Even from then on it was clear that this was an artist with an appeal that could cross continents.

His first album, “Real” was released the same year as well but it wasn’t until the year after when he became a star in his home country. His second album’s lead single "Ella Me Cautivó" went straight into the Colombian charts at number two and the third single from that album “En Lo Oscuro”, reached number one in 2011.

That year he was nominated for ten awards at the Premios Nuestra Tierra music awards but even then, things were only going to get better. His third album, 2013’s “La Familia”, went four times platinum in Colombia, platinum in Romania and Peru and Gold in Argentina and Venezuela. It was also his first record to chart on the Billboard Heatseekers chart as well.

He rounded off 2014 on an arena tour with Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias and his star continues to rise to this day. Where he goes next will hopefully propel him into the stratosphere, and we should all stick around to see it.

Live reviews

Starting his career in 2004, Colombian superstar J Balvin has relentlessly worked to extend his success as a Reggaeton artist and make a name for himself in the US. Signing to Capitol Records, Balvin released his debut album in 2013 ‘La Familia’ which went straight to the top of the Colombian charts. Not content with his success in his beloved homeland, he was eager to bring Reggaeton to New York and fluently learned English to assist him in achieving his goal. The fast rising star has recently scored the opening slot for global Latin superstars Enrique Iglesias and Pitbull which has seen his fan base rapidly grow. J Balvin is a natural born entertainer, happily playing two hour sets for his headline shows to hundreds of adoring fans. With plenty of street swagger and an abundance of charismatic charm, Balvin knows how to work the room with his largely female fan base who swoon as soon as he approaches the crowd, taking them by the hand encouraging them to dance along. Accompanied by a barrage of scantily-clad female dancers adds to the sexy, sultry and intensified atmosphere. Taking complete ownership of the stage Balvin has an incredible energy as he enthuses the crowd who can’t help but shake their hips to his infectious sound. Watch out, J Balvin is all set to blow up the Reggaeton scene!

This was ridiculous! I spent 130 CAD on this and LOST MY MONEY! You have been misleading your marketing in promoting this as a concert and performance. FRAUD! I bought my tickets only to find out it Was just ONLY a DJ playing music. I was going to drive 4 hrs to see this and called ahead before leaving and found out this information so now I’m out my money! I was denied a refund from the venue when I brought my complaint forward! I am taking my case the the better business bureau and exposing your site as FRAUDULENT. I have several screen shots showing you promoting as JBalvin and Bad Bunny headlining this show and that it was a concert. I am expecting a response from you. [email protected]

The show experience was amazing I had the VIP experience and it was great but the meet and greet was super rushed and that is what I would complain about . For all the money we spent we could only take one picture which wasn't fair. But other then that everything else was fine. Thank you God bless

That was the best show I have ever seen. He is the one artist I’ve seen who had the crowd dancing the entire time. It was completely surreal, I knew every song by heart. He is a talented artist, and the overall ambiance and colors just added to the experience. Thank you!!

J Balvin Signs Label Deal With Interscope Capitol Miami

J Balvin Variety Hitmakers

J Balvin is making the move to Interscope Capitol Miami, Variety can confirm. Sources close to the situation say Balvin’s exit from Universal Music Latino, whom he’s been signed to for the last 10 years, comes just as the Colombian singer gears up to release a new album later this year.

Balvin’s incoming project will be under the supervision of the newly-minted Interscope Capitol Miami division (Interscope and Capitol merged earlier this year), spearheaded by Nir Seroussi. They will work together with Tom March’s team at Capitol Records .

Balvin officially joined Roc Nation as a management client last year. He was previously managed by Fabio Acosta and Scooter Braun’s SB Projects, with whom Balvin parted ways with in 2022, after a short three-year stint together.

Balvin’s new record will be his first full-length effort in over two years, and his first since “José.” He’s already released singles “Amigos,” and the DJ Khaled-featuring “Dientes.” He is reportedly working with producers Mura Masa, Tainy, Mambo Kingz and more.

The Latin music superstar has been on the road for his European “Que Bueno Volver a Verte” tour, which will close on June 5 with a stop at the O2 in London, England. Balvin also appeared at Coachella earlier this spring.

J Balvin Postpones ‘Jose’ North American Tour, Cites Covid-Related Production Setbacks

By Larisha Paul

Larisha Paul

J Balvin is rescheduling the entirety of his North American Jose tour, which was set to begin in San Antonio on April 19. The decision to postpone comes a week ahead of its launch as the artist cited Covid-related delays and challenges in production.

“Throughout the past year, we have been working tirelessly to bring you an exciting and immersive ‘Jose’ Tour experience where everyone feels welcome to the party,” Balvin wrote to his fans. “Covid has caused some unforeseen production challenges, and I wouldn’t be able to keep my promise of giving you the absolute best show possible. Because I believe you deserve that, I’ve made the difficult decision to reschedule the tour.”

The 28-date tour was scheduled in support of Balvin’s fifth studio album Jose , shared back in September. He expressed that new dates are in the works with more information to come in the following weeks.

“I’m continuously in awe of all your love and support and I can’t wait to see you on the road where we will celebrate together and keep the good vibes rolling,” he added.

Touring aside, Balvin is still on the up. Most recently, the Colombian singer and rapper teamed up with Ed Sheeren for a pair of collaborations: “Forever My Love” and “Sigue.”

J Balvin Makes 'Difficult' Decision to Postpone Jose Tour Due to 'Unforeseen Production Challenges'

The North American Tour was originally set to kick off on April 19

is j balvin going on tour

Fans are going to have to wait a little longer to see J Balvin on tour again.

On Tuesday, Balvin announced he would be postponing his upcoming Jose tour due to production circumstances due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a letter to his fans on Instagram, written in English and Spanish, the Colombian star, 36, expressed how sorry he was for the change of plans.

"Throughout the past year, we have been working tirelessly to bring you an exciting and immersive ''Jose' Tour experience where everyone feels welcome to the party," he began the note. "Covid has caused some unforeseen production challenges, and I wouldn't be able to keep my promise of giving you the absolute best show possible. Because I believe you deserve that, I've made the difficult decision to reschedule the tour."

The note continued, "All the details are still being worked through with my incredible team, but we'll be getting you the new dates within the next few weeks and honoring your tickets. I'm continuously in awe of all your love and support and I can't wait to see you on the road where we will celebrate together and keep the good vibes rolling."

PEOPLE has learned the production challenges came to light once Balvin began his tour rehearsals over the last week and it became apparent that parts of the overall set-up and design, as well as the 360 stage, would encounter limitations which would affect the show. The artist then made the decision to delay the run.

The six-week tour was initially scheduled to kick off on April 19 in San Antonio, Texas, and would wrap up in Puerto Rico on June 4. He was also scheduled to appear at Viva! L.A. Music Festival in Los Angeles on June 25, though he has not yet addressed if this would be affected.

Last month, the "Azul" singer collaborated with Ed Sheeran to release a two-song EP, featuring songs " Sigue " and " Forever My Love " — and formed a musical crossover! Turns out, their working together came about after they formed an organic relationship.

"Everything good takes time," Balvin said in a press release at the time. "We had a coffee and spoke about life and there was a dope vibe."

"We bonded over simple things creating a genuine friendship — we even spoke about what it's like to be a dad," the father of one said. Sheeran is also a first-time dad.

Meanwhile, Balvin spoke to PEOPLE earlier this year about his secret to keeping his "high vibrations."

"Meditation, it's the key, it heals how I can balance myself. And the super high vibration, the super low vibration, you've got to be balanced, be patient — and sports, doing exercise. It's key."

Balvin also recently released his single "Niño Soñador," a tribute to his younger self — a boy who dreamed of becoming a singer, yet was unaware of the pressures of fame at the time.

"The things that I've been going through, the only way you can see the light is when you see the dark," he said.

J Balvin Postpones All U.S. Tour Dates – Here’s What We Know

is j balvin going on tour

Lately, it’s been a headline rollercoaster for the Colombian pop star J Balvin. From being the subject of the infamous Residente diss track to releasing his major crossover tracks with English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, it seems like he’s being talked about from all angles. But now, citing production-related difficulties, Balvin announced today (April 12) that his JOSE tour has been postponed — merely a week before it was supposed to kick off in San Antonio.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by J Balvin (@jbalvin)

“Throughout the past year, we have been working tirelessly to bring you an exciting and immersive ‘Jose’ Tour USA experience where everyone feels welcome to the party. Covid has caused some unforeseen production challenges, and I wouldn’t be able to keep my promise of giving you the absolute best show possible,” the “In Da Getto” singer announced on Instagram. “Because I believe you deserve that, I’ve made the difficult decision to reschedule the tour.”

“All the details are still being worked through with my incredible team, but we’ll be getting you the new dates within the next few weeks and honoring your tickets,” he continued. “I’m continuously in awe of all your love and support and I can’t wait to see you on the road where we will celebrate together and keep the good vibes rolling.”

J Balvin most likely postponed his tour till next year… I was so close, opening night was LITERALLY next week😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Wtf!!!! pic.twitter.com/WFmYQtGxY2 — Jose ⚡ (@Jo5ePerez) April 12, 2022

This was supposed to be his biggest U.S. tour to date – in a recent conversation with Remezcla while promoting his latest album, JOSE , he had hinted about a few production details. “[The stage will be] Way bigger than everything that we have done before. My mission was: ‘What would Michael Jackson do if he was still alive?’ That was the mission for the team. I bet you it has to be one of the best tours ever seen on the planet,” Balvin said about the production at the time.

J Balvin is rescheduling his tour… I was so excited I wanna cry 😭😭 — buss down iridiana 🫶🏽 (@itsiridiana) April 12, 2022

The tour’s postponement comes after a criticized performance at Bogotá’s annual Estereo Picnic Festival , where his set was described as “the poorest show” by the businessman and manager Julio Correal, who’s known for bringing huge acts to Colombia. We’ll see in a “few weeks” what the Colombian star will do.

Who is skipping Florida in 2024? 5 rock tour snubs, ideas of where to go to see them

is j balvin going on tour

The new year is truly stacked with concerts of nearly from every genre . From legends taking the stage one last time to rising stars, it seems like there is a new tour announcement every week for 2024.

While most tours seem to squeeze in a date or two in Florida, what about the ones that completely forget the state all together?

Some artists have decided to breeze past Florida on their current tours, opting for other southern cities or even other countries. This might mean heading to another city to see your favorite artist, which can include buying a plane ticket and a hotel room for the night.

Here's five tours that don't have any Florida dates and how you can still see them perform in 2024.

Where to see Green Day

Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tré Cool will embark on "The Saviors Tour," their first stadium outing since 2021's The Hella Mega Tour with Fall Out Boy and Weezer. The band is set to celebrate the 30th anniversary of 1994’s "Dookie" and the 20th anniversary of 2004’s "American Idiot."

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

Unfortunately, the punk band is not heading to Florida next year. For those still wanting to see them, the closest tour date is Wednesday, Aug. 28 date at Atlanta's Truist Park.

Are the Foo Fighters touring? Not in Florida, but wait ...

The Seattle-based rock bank is set to go on a 10-city trek this summer following a global tour this year. They returned to the music scene this year with " But Here We Are ," their first album since the sudden death of drummer Taylor Hawkins in 2022.

While New York City, Boston and Los Angeles are among their stops, there are no Florida stops on their official tour. But there's still hope to see the band in Florida.

The Foo Fighters are among the 150 bands on the bill that will head to Daytona Beach for the  Welcome to Rockville  music festival in May 2024. The band will headline the festival on Saturday, May 11.

J Balvin announced this year he will be back on tour in 2024 with the “ Que Bueno Volver a Verte ” international tour. However, the Grammy Award-nominated Colombian singer didn't just skip Florida — he skipped the entire country.

For the dedicated fans who don't want to wait for possible U.S. dates or his next tour, J Balvin will be performing at the Picnic Festival in Costa Rica on Saturday, Feb. 17. Give yourself a late holiday gift and go on a mini vacation.

Metallica isn't happening in Florida, but a summer weekend in Chicago?

The iconic American heavy metal band took their  M72 world tour  to the U.S. in August in New Jersey. It promises over 77 minutes of music with 12 new songs for fans to bang their heads to. Despite the long list of cities and venues, Florida didn't make the list.

For the venues still left in 2024, the closest venue to Florida is the two Chicago dates at Soldier Field Stadium on Friday, Aug. 9 and Sunday, Aug. 11.

Queens of the Stone Age tour misses Florida, but the band won't

Queens of the Stone Age  have been on tour in support of their new album "In Times New Roman…." The rock band has been touring throughout Europe and the United States throughout the last year, hitting some more locations in 2024. Except the Sunshine State.

Similarly to the Foo Fighters, Queens of the Stone Age will at least head to Daytona Beach for the  Welcome to Rockville  music festival. The band will perform at the festival on Saturday, May 11.

Jennifer Lopez cancels 2024 tour This Is Me: 'Completely heartsick and devastated'

is j balvin going on tour

Jennifer Lopez has canceled her summer North American tour , which was to be her first in five years, weeks before she was scheduled to go on the road.

The pop star made the announcement Friday in her On The JLo fan newsletter.

"Representatives for Live Nation announced today that the Jennifer Lopez US Summer 2024 Tour 'THIS IS ME...LIVE' is canceled, citing ... 'Jennifer is taking time off to be with her children, family and close friends,'" the newsletter reads.

The statement was followed by a personal note , "A Special Message to My JLovers OnTheJLo."

"I am completely heartsick and devastated about letting you down. Please know that I wouldn’t do this if I didn’t feel that it was absolutely necessary. I promise I will make it up to you and we will all be together again," Lopez wrote. "I love you all so much. Until next time..."

Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.

USA TODAY has reached out to Live Nation for comment.

Lopez's first show of the tour had been slated for June 26 in Orlando, Florida.

This Is Me... Live announcement comes after seven tour dates were canceled

The announcement comes weeks after several shows on the tour were canceled without explanation. According to Ticketmaster, Lopez's scheduled performances in Nashville, Tennessee; New Orleans; Raleigh, North Carolina; Atlanta; Houston; Cleveland and Tampa, Florida would no longer take place.

"Unfortunately, the event organizer has had to cancel your event," the message for those pages reads.

This is Me...Live was a 30-date arena tour that was going to feature Lopez's chart-breakers and classic hits from her discography, like songs "On The Floor," "Let's Get Loud" and "Jenny from the Block." Her most recent tour in 2019, the It's My Party tour, sold out venues across the country.

The tour was in support of her new album, “This is Me … Now,” which released in February. The record was accompanied by an Amazon Prime musical movie, “ This is Me … Now: A Love Story ."

Speaking to USA TODAY earlier this year about "This is Me ... Now" possibly being her swan song, Lopez said, "This was going to be the quintessential thing I have been searching for and wanted to say about love."

"I’ve been on this search for so long, since people first met me and my first record came out and even before that in my first movie role, where I’ve been on this journey trying to figure this thing out for myself. This (album) kind of closed the loop in a way,” she said. “It captures this moment to really say the things I want to say about love, and that is that true love does exist and some things are forever. Please don’t give up on that because that’s all that matters in life … love.”'

Bennifer timeline: Their love story spans two decades, two engagements

Separate outings have fueled speculation about marriage with Ben Affleck

Lopez's announcement also comes amid widespread speculation about her marriage of nearly two years to Ben Affleck.

After various media reports suggested Lopez and Affleck may no longer be living together, the Hollywood A-List couple has been increasingly under the microscope, with media prying over their whereabouts and whether both are still wearing their rings.

On May 16, Lopez and Affleck were photographed together for the first time in over a month, with each spotted wearing their respective wedding rings.

The two were engaged to each other twice: first in 2002 then again in 2021. The couple got married in a late-night ceremony in Las Vegas on July 16, 2022, which Lopez called "the best possible wedding we could have imagined."

This is the second marriage for Affleck and the fourth for Lopez.

Tour refunds for JLo tickets

Tickets will automatically be refunded, according to the newsletter.

Fans who purchased from third-party sites such as SeatGeek, StubHub and VividSeats should reach out to those websites for refunds.

Everything We Know About Scooter Braun Quitting Music

Music mogul Scooter Braun said he'll be retiring from talent management on Monday after 23 years in show business.

The record executive is famously known for discovering the teenage Justin Bieber on YouTube and helping to launch the singer to international super-stardom.

He's also managed several big names over the years including Demi Lovato, Kanye West (now known as "Ye"), Kelly Rowland, Idina Menzel and the Black Eyes Peas.

In August 2023, a slew of clients left Braun's management company, SB Management, such as Idina Menzel, Demi Lovato and J Balvin. Bieber and Grande were also rumored to be cutting ties with Braun, but a source close to the entrepreneur denied the claim.

"All of Scooter Braun's clients are under contract and negotiations have been going on for several months as Scooter steps into his larger role as HYBE America CEO," the insider told Newsweek at the time.

"People are spreading rumors based on what they know, but they are off. Scooter's team at SB Projects are still handling both Justin and Ariana as they work through what this new structure looks like."

Newsweek has reached out to Scooter Braun for comment.

Here's everything we know about why Braun is leaving the music industry.

Why Is Scooter Braun Retiring?

Braun announced his retirement in a lengthy social media statement on Monday.

The 43-year-old said he was stepping back from talent management to focus on being a father. Braun shares three children with his ex-wife, Yael Cohen. The couple were married for eight years, but divorced in 2022, citing "irreconcilable differences."

Braun will continue as CEO of HYBE America. He was named the sole CEO of the South Korean entertainment company in January 2023, after previously sharing the title with HYBE veteran Lenzo Yoon. The company internationally operates record labels, a talent agency, a music production division and more.

"After 23 years, this chapter as a music manager has come to an end," Braun wrote on Instagram .

Braun said after being "on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week" for over two decades, he was ready to move on, claiming that his personal life "took some hits" due to his heavy workload.

"I came to the realization that my kids were three superstars I wasn't willing to lose," he continued. "The sacrifices I was once willing to make I could no longer justify. It was time to step into a new role."

However, Braun said "it's a strange feeling" to leave the industry after so many years as a talent manager, with the business magnate asking himself: "'Who would I be without them?'"

"Over the past two years I have been heading towards this destination, but it wasn't until last summer that this new chapter became a reality," Braun said.

"One of my biggest clients and friends told me that they wanted to spread their wings and go in a new direction. We had been through so much together over the last decade, but instead of being hurt, I saw it as a sign."

"You see, life doesn't hand you your plan, God hands you your plan," he continued. "And God has been pushing me in this direction for some time."

The Scooter Braun Controversy Explained

In August 2023, rumors began to circle that clients were ditching Braun as manager.

Lovato described the split as "amicable." A source told People that Ariana Grande had departed on "friendly terms" with Braun to try "something new," while other sources claimed the singer was still under contract with SB Management.

J Balvin left Braun's management for Jay-Z's record label, Roc Nation, in May 2023. Idina Menzel stopped working with Braun in January 2023, although news of her exit didn't break until the summer. A few weeks later, representatives for Carly Rae Jepsen, Asher Roth and BabyJake told the Associated Press their clients were no longer working with Braun.

There was much speculation as to why on social media. Although a reason for the exodus was never confirmed.

Braun had also previously hit headlines for his beef with Taylor Swift . The record executive's feud with the pop star was sparked in 2019, after he purchased Swift's first label, Big Machine Records.

As the label owned the rights to Swift's first six albums, Braun's acquisition of the company meant the rights shifted to him. The 34-year-old singer accused Braun—who had also managed Ye during his public feud with Swift—of "incessant, manipulative bullying," and began re-recording the albums as "Taylor's Versions."

After more than two decades managing stars like Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande, Scooter Braun is giving up the management business.

Braun wrote that he will instead focus on his role as a board member and CEO of the U.S. division Hybe, the South Korean entertainment giant.

A powerful but polarizing figure, Braun rose to fame and acclaim with Justin Bieber, whom he helped discover. Braun helped to build Bieber’s career, and subsequently built a roster of A-list talent that included Ariana Grande, J Balvin, Psy, Demi Lovato, Carly Rae Jepsen, David Guetta and others.

However, Braun sold his Ithaca Holdings in 2021 to Hybe, a deal that saw him take an executive role with the South Korean company.

Last year, a flurry of his clients announced their intentions to completely or partly part ways with the manager, including Grande, Demi Lovato , J Balvin and Idina Menzel .

You can read Braun’s full post, below.

23 years. 23 years. That’s how long I have been a music manager. 23 years ago a 19 year old kid started managing an artist named Cato in Atlanta, GA and my journey began. Along the way I have had so many experiences I could never have dreamt of. I have been blessed to have had a “Forrest Gump”-like life while witnessing and taking part in the journeys of some of the most extraordinarily talented people the world has ever seen. I’m constantly pinching myself and asking “how did I get here?”

And after 23 years this chapter as a music manager has come to an end.

In this next chapter I have been honored to join as a board member of Hybe and serve as the CEO of Hybe America. My brilliant partner these past 3 years, Chairman Bang [Si-Hyuk], has a vision I truly believe in. But even beyond that he has become a true friend who understands where I must be in my life these days. And that is a father first, a CEO second, and a manager no more.

Over the past 2 years I have been heading towards this destination, but it wasn’t until last summer that this new chapter became a reality. One of my biggest clients and friends told me that they wanted to spread their wings and go in a new direction. We had been through so much together over the last decade, but instead of being hurt I saw it as a sign. You see, life doesn’t hand you YOUR plan, it hands you GOD’s plan. And God has been pushing me in this direction for some time. I have nothing but love for those I have worked with over the years, and as we develop a different working relationship, I will always be in their corner to consult and support them whether it be directly or from afar. Every client I have had the privilege of working with has changed my life, and I know many of them are just beginning to see the success they deserve. I will cheer for every single one of them.

But it was this past Christmas Day when Ariana and Justin became the biggest male and female in the history of the Spotify Billions club that I just smiled and thought “what a ride.” Justin and Ariana were both young teenagers when I began with them. Justin a 13 year old kid busking in Canada and Ariana a young actress on Nickelodeon. To see them both come up to be the legends they are today will forever be one of my greatest honors. As we change our working relationships now, I will continue to root for them with the same passion that I did at each of their humble beginnings. I remember the pranks and the water park shows with Justin, and the first time Ari opened an arena tour and her excitement side stage. I remember as they both stepped up for others and I got to witness them each change the world and make history. There will never be a day where I don’t take great pride and honor in what we accomplished together. The same can be said for so many I have had the pleasure of once being called “manager”.

Scooter Braun Retires From Artist Management: ‘This Chapter Has Come to an End’

Braun will remain CEO of HYBE America. The management company he founded, SB Projects, will continue under Allison Kaye and Jennifer McDaniels.

By Marc Schneider

Scooter Braun

Scooter Braun announced his retirement from artist management on Monday (June 17), officially putting a cap on a 23-year run during which he has guided the careers of some of the biggest pop stars of the 21st century, including Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, Demi Lovato, J Balvin, Carly Rae Jepsen, The Kid Laroi and others.

Scooter Braun Launches Campaign to Help Both Palestinians in Gaza and Israeli Hostage Families

Trending on billboard.

A good portion of Braun’s 1,300-plus word send-off is spent recalling some of his fondest memories as a manager, including seeing Andrew Watt win a producer of the year Grammy, watching Quavo succeed as an entrepreneur, seeing Dan + Shay “go from local Nashville writers to sold out headliners,” and enjoying “brother Usher dominate the Super Bowl this year.” He also said he was “Kanye’s ‘gateway drug to business’ as we had amazing years of success when I was once able to call him my friend.”

He made sure to single out his two crowning clients over the years — Bieber and Grande — “a 13 year old kid busking in Canada” and “a young actress on Nickelodeon” when he signed them.

“To see them both come up to be the legends they are today will forever be one of my greatest honors,” he said. “As we change our working relationships now, I will continue to root for them with the same passion that I did at each of their humble beginnings… There will never be a day where I don’t take great pride and honor in what we accomplished together.”

I’m constantly pinching myself and asking “how did I get here?” And after 23 years this chapter as a must manager has come to an end.”

It’s a strange feeling because I think I have wanted this for a while, but I was truly afraid to answer the question “who would I be without them?” I was really just 19 years old when I started. So for my entire adult life I played the role of an artist manager on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And for 20 years I loved it. It’s all I had known. But as my children got older, and my personal Iife took some hits, I came to the realization that my kids were 3 superstars I wasn’t willing to lose. The sacrifices I was once willing to make I could no longer justify. It was time to step into a new role.

In this next chapter I have been honored to join as a board member of Hybe and serve as the CEO of Hybe America. Every client I have had the privilege of working with has changed my life, and I know many of them are just beginning to see the success they deserve. I will cheer for every single one of them.

I have gotten to see my friend Andrew Watt win the Grammy for Producer of the year. I have laughed and cried as Lil Dicky truly became DAVE. I have witnessed an angel of a human Tori Kelly win Grammys and star in films. I have seen J Balvin live out his dreams of breaking boundaries, and Demi show kindness and grace that few megastars have. I have been moved as Zac Brown Band raised our flag and delivered the hits. I was excited the first time I heard Animals with Martin Garrix, and learned a new world with David Guetta and Steve Angello. I have danced to Carly Rae Jepsen’s Call Me Maybe and smiled ear to ear as PSY brought us Gangnam Style. I have watched Quavo grow to be an entrepreneur, and served as Kanye’s “gateway drug to business” as we had amazing years of success when I was once able to call him my friend. I have marched with YG and flown to Australia with Laroi to see the hometown kid rock an arena. I have seen Dan Shay go from local Nashville writers to sold out headliners and award winners. The list of artists goes on and on over 23 years. So many stories it would take me forever to name. From those first years with Asher Roth to watching my partner and brother Usher dominate the Super Bowl this year, it is truly overwhelming. There will never be a day where I don’t take great pride and honor in what we accomplished together. The same can be said for so many I have had the pleasure of once being called “manager”.

There has been a lot said about what is happening in our company… and in my career. When we had success I smiled, and when we were attacked I tried to always take the high road. But for the last 3 years I have begun to feel that taking the high road has created confusion and ambiguity as to who we are. I may have left my role in management, and my business relationship with many clients will alter and change, but this does not mean we as a company are leaving. Both Allison Kaye and Jennifer McDaniels are more than capable to lead and as we combine new resources the opportunities with their leadership are endless. These two incredibly powerful women will now step into a role that I know will grow into the most impressive women-led management business our industry has even seen. While my name may have been on the door all these years, the truth is there is no one as brilliant as Allison Kaye, and few who can manage with the grace and poise of Jen McDaniels.

We at Hybe will continue to grow. With the addition of QC to Hybe America and our existing business at Big Machine, we will continue to add amazing execs and artists to the roster. Our WeVerse platform and growing gaming unit is something the whole industry can celebrate and join. Getting the opportunity to A&R and Executive Produce the solo career of Jung Kook last summer, and work with the other members of BTS as we break worldwide records, has been an absolute honor. With new acts like NewJeans, TXT, LE SSERAFIM, Seventeen, ILLIT, The Scarlet Opera, Ava Max, and many other new artists and ventures, the future is bright. I’m honored to join Chairman Bang and Jiwon Park as we grow HYBE from the multi-billion dollar publicly traded company it is today to the worldwide multifaceted entertainment platform it is destined to be.

With Hybe going strong I am also looking forward to continuing to invest in a new generation of entrepreneurs and serve as a national board member of Make A Wish and help individuals and communities through our family’s Braun Foundation. Between all of this and coaching my kids I’m not worried about being busy 🙂

So yes, it’s been 23 years. And yes, this chapter has come to an end. But the great Berry Gordy once told me “young man, it never ends the way you wanted, but it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.” That wisdom has proven to be correct. I never saw how this chapter would end, hell, I never even saw it happening. But it did. And I will cherish every moment of it. I made my plan… but it turns out I like God’s plan better. Cheers!
