Adam Brooks vs Robbie Eagles – Oceania Pro Wrestling’s Men’s Championship

The first-ever OPW Champion will be crowned as two of Australia’s best go head to head! It’s a stalemate in the early going as both competitors match each other’s pace. Brooks sends him head-first into the turnbuckles. Brooks attempts a Crossface but Eagles immediately rolls through. Brooks hits a pump kick from the apron instead. Moments later, Eagles creates separation with a running clothesline to the back of Brooks’ head. Eagles hits running double knees for two. Brooks avoids the 450 splash but Eagles fires back with a series of kicks. Brooks drapes him over the top rope with a TKO, followed by a tornado DDT for another near fall. The action is back and forth as both competitors looks for an opening. Eagles spikes him with a reverse Rana, followed by Sliced Bread for two. Brooks locks in the Ron Miller Special but Brooks makes it to the bottom rope. Brooks gets his knees up on the 450 splash, the soars with the Swanton Bomb to win.

The action continues as top tag teams collide! The Velocities jumpstart the match with double dropkicks to their opponents. The Natural Classics use their power advantage to turn the tide. De Silva tries to make the tag but London is pulled off the apron. De Silva gets his knees up on a Moonsault, allowing him to tag in London. The pace quickens as London goes on the attack. London gets two for one before hitting Stundog Millionaire. The Natural Classics connects with a double team neckbreaker for three.

Digital Media Champion Joe Hendry vs Moose – Digital Media Championship

Joe Hendry renews his rivalry with Moose and the Digital Media Title is on the line! Before the bell rings, Hendry reminds the crowd of his hit song, “Dancing Moose”. Hendry puts his power on display as he hits a delayed vertical suplex. The fight spills to the outside where Hendry repeatedly drives Moose head-first into the apron, followed by the steel ring post. Moose uses the rope for a low blow behind the referee’s back. Both men exchange a series of chops before Moose hits a standing Uranage for two. Hendry comes back with a running cutter but it’s not enough to keep Moose down. Moose hits an impressive dropkick, followed by the powerbomb for two. Hendry avoids the spear but Moose rolls him up with a handful of tights for another near fall. Hendry can’t put Moose away following a big pop-up powerbomb. Moose hits a thunderous Superplex but Hendry transitions into a suplex of his own. Moose is caught with another handful of tights. Hendry rolls him up and scores the victory.

Eddie Edwards looks to bounce back as he goes one-on-one with Slex! Edwards outsmarts his opponent in the early going as he goads him into the corner. Slex comes back with a spinning elbow but Edwards cuts him off mid-dive. Edwards remains in control with a suplex on the floor. Back in the ring, Slex counters the Die-Hard Driver into a vertical suplex, followed by a springboard kick for two. Edwards connects with the Blue Thunder Bomb for two. Slex delivers his own Business Bomb for a near fall of his own. Slex soars with a tornado DDT on the floor, followed by a top rope Moonsault. Edwards hits the Boston Knee Party to win.

Steph De Lander locks up with Killer Kelly as tonight’s action rolls on! Before the match begins, De Lander lets the crowd know that she’s not happy to be spending another night in Wagga Wagga. The fight quickly spills to the outside where De Lander gains the early advantage by whipping Kelly into the steel ring post. Kelly tries to fight back with a series of open palm strikes but De Lander shuts her down with a strong clothesline. Kelly counters a butterfly suplex, then connects with the hesitation dropkick in the corner. De Lander goes for a suplex but Kelly counters into a DDT. De Lander breaks free of the Killer Clutch and dumps her face-first on the mat to win.

Frankie Kazarian will redirect his rage for Eddie Edwards when he battles Brian Myers next. His originally-scheduled opponent, Steve Maclin, was injured in last night’s IMPACT World Title match vs Alex Shelley.

Brian Myers vs Frankie Kazarian

It’s all about momentum as Brian Myers locks up with Frankie Kazarian! Myers bounces off the ropes and Kazarian hits him with the side Russian leg sweep. Kazarian connects with a DDT for two. Myers trips him up as Kazarian crashes and burns in the corner. Myers remains in control with an Enzuigiri to the back of the head. Myers wears Kazarian down with a headlock until he hits a back suplex to create separation. Kazarian begins to build momentum with a guillotine leg drop on the apron, followed by a slingshot DDT. Myers bounces back with the Michinoku Driver for two. Myers launches himself off the top for a pinpoint elbow drop. Kazarian locks in the Chicken Wing to win by submission.

IMPACT World Tag Team Champions ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey) vs Motor City Machine Guns (IMPACT World Champion Alex Shelley & X-Division Champion Chris Sabin) – IMPACT World Tag Team Championship

Another chapter in the epic rivalry between ABC and the Motor City Machine Guns will be written with the IMPACT World Tag Team Titles on the line! Sabin charges towards Bey with a burst of intensity, knocking the bandana off his head. Ace and Bey dive through the ropes, colliding with the Guns on the outside. Sabin soars with a crossbody off the top rope. The Guns are in total control as they employ quick tags and begin to wear Bey down. Minutes later, Bey avoids the incoming assault which sends Sabin colliding into his own partner. Ace is tagged into the match and the pace quickens as he takes down both Sabin and Shelley with a springboard dropkick. ABC hit a dropkick neckbreaker combo on Sabin but it’s not enough. Another miscommunication for the Guns leads to a double Art of Finesse from Bey. Sabin hits Bey with a cutter before connecting with an assisted low dropkick on Ace. Near fall after near fall, the Guns can’t put ABC away. ABC hit the 1, 2 Sweet on Shelley, then the same to Sabin to retain the IMPACT World Tag Team Titles.

After the match, both teams shake hands in a tremendous show of respect.

Knockouts World Champion Deonna Purrazzo vs Gisele Shaw – Knockouts World Championship

Gisele Shaw challenges Deonna Purrazzo for the Knockouts World Title in tonight’s main event! Purrazzo locks in the Fujiwara Armbar early but Shaw scurries to the bottom rope to break the hold. Shaw crushes the left arm of Purrazzo with a big boot to the mat. It becomes apparent that Shaw has indeed been working on her mat wrestling game. Purrazzo charges towards the corner but Shaw redirects her into the steel ring post. Turnabout is fair play as Purrazzo uses her good arm to whip Shaw into the opposite ring post. Purrazzo goes for the Fujiwara Armbar but the damage to her arm prevents her from locking it in. Purrazzo connects with a Flatliner, allowing her to secure a Koji Clutch. Both Knockouts exchange strikes with Purrazzo getting the better of the exchange. Shaw hits Shock & Awe for a very close near fall. Purrazzo recovers and locks in Venus de Milo to win by submission.

Eddie Edwards vs. Slex

Business Bomb CONNECTS! @slexthebusiness #DownUnderTour #VisitWagga pic.twitter.com/1TXnT8Bnbi — IMPACT (@IMPACTWRESTLING) July 1, 2023

Winner: Eddie Edwards via Pinfall.

Steph De Lander vs. Killer Kelly

. @Kelly_WP 's Hesitation Dropkick lands, but @stephdelander managed to kick out! #DownUnderTour #VisitWagga pic.twitter.com/mFYE3RP8W3 — IMPACT (@IMPACTWRESTLING) July 1, 2023

Winner: Steph De Lander via Pinfall.

Brian Myers vs. Frankie Kazarian

Frankie Kazarian will redirect his rage for Eddie Edwards when he battles Brian Myers next. His originally-scheduled opponent, Steve Maclin, was injured in last night’s IMPACT World Title match vs Alex Shelley.

Michinoku Driver! @Myers_Wrestling #DownUnderTour #VisitWagga pic.twitter.com/GN83CFeMQ3 — IMPACT (@IMPACTWRESTLING) July 1, 2023

Winner: Frankie Kazarian via Submission.

Impact World Tag Team Championship The Motor City Machine Guns (Alex Shelley & Chris Sabin) vs. ABC (Ace Austin & Chris Bey)

DOUBLE Art Of Finesse! @DashingChrisBey #DownUnderTour #VisitWagga pic.twitter.com/50e4OF3KXD — IMPACT (@IMPACTWRESTLING) July 1, 2023

Winner: ABC via Pinfall to retain the Impact World Tag Team Championship.

After the match, both teams shake hands in a tremendous show of respect.

Impact Knockouts World Championship Gisele Shaw vs. Deonna Purrazzo (c)

. @GiseleShaw08 was seconds away from being in the Knockouts Title match at #Slammiversary but @DeonnaPurrazzo managed to kick out! #DownUnderTour #VisitWagga pic.twitter.com/6VTZdOcolT — IMPACT (@IMPACTWRESTLING) July 1, 2023

Winner: Deonna Purrazzo via Submission to retain the Impact Knockouts World Championship.

Impact Wrestling Down Under Tour 2023 (June 30 & July 1) Preview

This Friday (June 30th) and Saturday (July 1st), Impact Wrestling heads to Australia for the first time in the promotion’s 21-year history for a double shot of shows at the Equex Centre in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales.

New Japan were originally supposed to be running their inaugural Oceanic Cup in this slot but had to cancel, with Impact doing them a solid and stepping in to run a pair of what are quintessentially house shows.

The FITE bundle covering both nights’ action is $14.99 , which seems like pretty good value for two cards that look decent, if not blow away, on paper.

Impact Wrestling Down Under Tour 2023 Night #1 Friday, June 30

The main event of Night One is a rerun of the Against All Odds main event from earlier in June, with Alex Shelley this time fulfilling the role of champion rather than challenger as he faces Steve Maclin . As much as the outcome seems a mortal lock with both men already booked in differing spots for Slammiversary, these two are both great workers and if their previous title match is anything to go by, this is sure to deliver in a big way.

That is one of three title matches on the card, with Chris Sabin and Joe Hendry also putting their X-Division and Digital Media straps respectively, on the line. Sabin, who won the belt for the ninth time in his career at Against All Odds, faces Frankie Kazarian and Robbie Eagles in a three-way dance, while Hendry defends against former two-time Impact World Champion Eddie Edwards .

Reigning Impact tag champs Ace Austin and Chris Bey are in non-title action on this night against the team of Moose and Brian Myers . Now, that should have been a nice little setup angle for a match at Slammiversary but Impact had to go and ruin any element of intrigue by announcing a four-team match, involving Moose and Myers, for that PPV before their crew landed in Australia.

Knockouts World Champion Deonna Purrazzo and Gisele Shaw are set to resume their rivalry on Night Two and as such both are slated for warm-up singles action on Night One. Purrazzo faces Steph de Lander , who she previously beat in Impact earlier this year, while Shaw takes on Melbourne’s Erika Reid

De Lander and Reid aren’t the only homegrown female talents on the show, with Aysha , who has appeared on NWA Powerrr in recent weeks, set to face Killer Kelly .

Tentatively scheduled as the opener is one of my most anticipated weekend matches – Adam Brooks taking on the one and only Slex, The Business . Both very impressive workers, these two had a storied feud during the boom period of Melbourne City Wrestling, and this will be their ninth career singles match together. With Brooks heading to the N-1 in August and Slex just being great, this seems like an obvious spot for both guys to try and impress.

Impact Wrestling Down Under Tour 2023 Night #2 Saturday, July 1

When I mentioned these Australian shows on The Flagship recently , I said that the two local acts I specifically wanted Impact to use on this tour were Slex and The VeloCities.

My wish will be satisfied on night two when the latter, the team of Jude London and Paris De Silva , face off against NJPW Rogue Army members and fellow Aussies The Natural Classics . The match will be good, I’m sure, but my main hope is that it all ends with Scott D’Amore handing out contracts to The VeloCities. They’re far too good to be as underutilized as they are at the moment – they got one booking over Mania Weekend for goodness’ sake – and they’re the exact sort of act (along with Slex) that Impact should be trying to pick up.

The main event of Night Two is likely to be the Impact World Tag Team title match between reigning champions ABC and the former three-time champions The Motor City Machine Guns . These teams have had a fantastic story over the last year , one of the best successes of the Impact booking team, and their matches have always delivered. I expect this one to be exactly the same and although Impact could opt to give Shelley and Sabin all the gold (a la Samoa Joe and Kurt Angle in 2007), ABC retaining is the most sensible option.

That is one of two title matches on Night Two, with the winner of the previous night’s Digital Media clash between Joe Hendry and Eddie Edwards set to defend the belt against Moose . As much as a title change Down Under would liven things up a bit, the building blocks in place for Slammiversary for all three men in this little bracket tip off Hendry recording two successful defenses in Wagga Wagga.

As mentioned in my Night One preview, Deonna Purrazzo faces Gisele Shaw in singles action. It isn’t officially a title match at the moment but it could well be by the time these two hit the ring for their third one-on-one meeting of 2023. The current record sits at 1-1, so it makes all the sense in the world for Purrazzo to make that 2-1 and build momentum ahead of her title match with Trinity at Slammiversary.

An intriguing singles match on Night Two will see Steve Maclin face Frankie Kazarian . These two have met once before one-on-one, with Kazarian winning that November 2022 meeting by disqualification. Maclin beat Kazarian in a recent tag team match though. With Kazarian’s budding feud with Eddie Edwards ongoing, it seems that could dictate the finish, protecting Kazarian in defeat while putting Maclin over.

Like on Night One, Robbie Eagles is in three-way action on Night Two. This time, ‘The Sniper of the Skies’ will face off against Brian Myers and Adam Brooks .

Completing the lineup, meanwhile, will be a singles match between Killer Kelly and Steph De Lander .
