The 28th Street Metro Cruise in Grand Rapids, Michigan is so more than just a Michigan car show, it's a gathering of the coolest, sexiest and loudest classic, muscle, antique, modified, sports cars and sweet trucks from across the state and nation.

And these badass vehicles aren't just content to sit idle with their hoods up.

They'll be parading down 28th Street in Grand Rapids, revving their engines, blasting their music, waving, and having a blast for cheering onlookers lining 28th Street for 13 miles. It's one of our favorite West Michigan automotive events!

*All of our photos were taken in the Berger Chevrolet All GM Show and along 28th Street in Grand Rapids. Chris and I LOVE this show and attend as often as possible.

Berger Chevrolet fiercely loves muscle cars and hot trucks. It's a great spot (our favorite) to walk around and see stationary cars and pitch our chairs to enjoy the show on 28th street.

‘Glorious’ horror trilogy continues high Rotten Tomatoes streak with ‘grisly’ new film

MaXXXine has received rave first reactions as the third and final film in Ti West’s X trilogy comes to cinemas.

The A24 film sees Mia Goth return to the role of Maxine Minx after the adult film star survived the event of the first film, 2022’s X.

After escaping with her life, Maxine gets her big break in Hollywood, but when a mysterious serial killer starts stalking the streets of Los Angeles, her sinister past could be uncovered.

Infinity Pool star Goth is not the only huge star among the cast, as she is joined by Halsey , Lily Collins , Elizabeth Debicki , Sophie Thatcher, and Kevin Bacon .

Ahead of its UK cinema release on July 2, early screenings have seen the film highly praised, with MaXXXine scoring a strong 89% rating on Rotten Tomatoes .

Fresh Fiction described the film as ‘Gutsy, gritty and grisly’, adding: ‘West and his leading lady go for the gusto and the result is a total blast.’

Mia Goth as Maxine Minx in MaXXXINE wearing a green varsity jacket and pointing a gun

Empire’s review said: ‘Mia Goth’s Maxine is what you’d get if the Robert De Niro and Jodie Foster of Taxi Driver were fused in the telepod from The Fly.’

Daily Dead added: ‘Maxxxine strikes its poses, cracks some skulls, and gets unexpectedly goofy, yet its pastiche sometimes feels skin-deep. West tries to have it all … only to undersell competing features due to overstuffed ambitions.’

Meanwhile, Inverse wrote: ‘West’s final entry into the modern horror canon seamlessly comes to a confident and glorious close, a star immortalized in her bloody triumph of the self.’

West’s trilogy began with X, which saw a group of adult film stars travel to a remote Texas farm owned by elderly couple Pearl and Howard to shoot their next picture.

However, when Pearl catches the group in the act of filming the x-rated content, the youngsters soon find themselves fighting for their lives.

Goth appeared as both Maxine and Pearl in the film and was praised for her masterful dual acting roles in which she appeared unrecognisable as the wisened farm owner.

The actor returned to her role as Pearl in the 2023 sequel named after her. Pearl takes us back to the Texas farm where we see the titular character’s upbringing under her strict, conservative mother and disabled father.

She has dreams of becoming a star on the Hollywood stage – and with a big audition coming up, her dreams appear to be within her grasp – but Pearl’s tenuous grip on reality and bloodthirsty desires threaten it all.

Speaking to Variety , Goth explained how the role of Pearl ‘changed her’ as she described it as her ‘most difficult’ performance yet.

‘I believe Pearl has fundamentally changed me as a performer. It’s given me a whole new sense of self and a whole new level of confidence in terms of what I think I am able to do,’ she continued.

‘It was a lot, but also just incredibly rewarding and such a gift to play. I really feel as though it fundamentally changed me in many ways for the better.’

MaXXXine is released on July 2.

The Massachusetts Port Authority board on Thursday voted to approve a $12 million deal with the redeveloper of the old Boston Edison power plant site in South Boston, a necessary move to allow residential construction to happen on the waterfront property.

As a result, Massport will change the deed restriction it put in place a decade ago to prevent homes from being built on the site at 776 Summer Street. The restriction was an element of Massport’s project to connect busy Summer Street with the Conley cargo terminal via a bypass bridge and road for trucks that went up along the waterfront side of the Edison property. Blocking residential development on the site was aimed, at least in part, at preventing future neighbors who might complain about the truck traffic.

Had the original restriction stayed in place, HRP Group — formerly known as Hilco Redevelopment Partners — would not have been able to move ahead with its plans for 636 housing units o n the site, which it acquired in 2016. As the massive mixed-use project moved through permitting, the restriction provided leverage to Massport — and, to some extent, the broader community — in negotiations over its scale and the precise location of housing. The project is currently in the demolition and remediation phase of work.

Andrew Hargens, chief development officer at Massport, told the board that Massport officials “intentionally stood on the sidelines” until the community review process was done, before significantly pushing negotiations with HRP about the restriction. Hilco also agreed to ensure that tenants and owners are aware from the start that they’re moving into a property near maritime industrial uses that can sometimes run around the clock, a typical requirement for developments on Massport properties.

Hargens said the $12 million will go to Massport’s maritime operations in the area, which also include a cruise-ship terminal across the Reserved Channel from the cargo terminal and the Edison property. He noted that the elected officials in South Boston are on board with the resolution.

“Over the last year-and-a-half or so, we began negotiations around financial compensation to Massport to offset any impact on port operations,” Hargens said. “We all know there’s a huge need for housing. With this agreement, we’ve facilitated this project ... to create a reasonable amount of housing in the site. It’s been a long process. I’m pleased with the outcome.”

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia has retained its position as the fifth largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter in 2023, after Russia, Qatar, Australia and the United States.

According to the International Gas Union’s 15th annual World LNG Report 2024 released today, Malaysia’s total LNG export in 2023 was 26.75 million tonnes (MT), constituting about seven per cent of the total LNG traded globally.

"The Kasawari gas field in Malaysia with 3.7 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) carbon dioxide capacity (CO2) is listed as one of the LNG-linked carbon capture, utilisation and storage projects, with a carbon capture facility sourcing CO2 from the upstream or liquefaction components of LNG projects as another emissions mitigation measure.

"Globally, Malaysia is highlighted as one of the largest operational liquefaction capacities at 32 MTPA among 21 markets operating LNG export facilities,” the report said.

The report highlighted that Asia Pacific was the highest exporting region, with a total of 134.80 MT.

"The region also remained the largest importing region with 155.32 MT for LNG, where the inter-regional trade was at 95.0 MT in 2023,” it added.

The International Gas Union president Li Yalan said that as the world moves toward a low-emissions future, nations seek ways to achieve their climate commitments while keeping energy affordable, available and secure.

"LNG is a tool that will be critical to providing greater resiliency for rapidly changing energy systems around the world, and it will have an essential role in mitigating the inherent risk of uncertainty through that process,” she said.

Meanwhile, Malaysian Gas Association (MGA) president Abdul Aziz Othman said the MGA recognises the crucial role LNG will play in Malaysia’s energy transition roadmap, which anticipates gas demand increasing from 43 per cent to 56 per cent by 2050.

"This projected rise underscores the need for our industry to be fully prepared to meet these heightened expectations,” he said.

He said moving forward, MGA strongly supports the government’s aspiration for a fully liberalised gas market, including the power sector.

"We believe such a move will enhance energy supply security and foster a more efficient market environment, ultimately benefiting Malaysian consumers,” he added. - Bernama
