Tour the architectural icon of the kentucky bourbon trail.

Our state-of-the-art distillery, nestled in Nulu, Louisville’s hub of art, food, and culture, invites you to come and witness our full whiskey-making process. During this immersive one-hour tour, we will share with you how our philosophy has changed the bourbon landscape. This unique experience begins with how grain transforms to whiskey and culminates in our awe-inspiring Overlook lounge with a portfolio tasting* of 5 of our award-winning spirits. Tours are by reservation only. Maximum 8 people per tour. *Guests must be of legal drinking age to participate in the tasting.

Distillery Tour FAQ

Pending any private event rentals, our Overlook Tasting Room is open till 4pm. We are currently accepting tour bookings for this season, but we are moving forward with plans to renovate our Overlook Bar in 2023. However, please note that the renovation is expected to start as soon as mid-April. While we await final confirmation, we are not able to provide assurance that self-guided tastings or cocktail service will be available in that space at the time of your visit. 

Thanks for reaching out! At the moment, we are not offering a tasting-only experience. Please check our bookings page to schedule a tour, which includes a portfolio tasting at the end. We hope to see you!

We are not currently running a waitlist. Your group is more than welcome to visit our Visitor Center to check out our retail space, plus our team can provide you all with comprehensive information on all our products. We would love to host you on our experience in the future!

New booking dates will be released about 8 weeks in advance. New booking dates will be released each day at midnight, 8 weeks (or 56 days) prior to the scheduled experience.. All available tours will be listed on our website. We hope to see you! Is it possible to have an accurate Date that changes each day? The Overlook Bar operates as a complement to our tour program and is not open to the general public. However, we do send guests up to the Overlook Bar depending on our daily traffic and private event scheduling. We do not accept reservations for this space. Check-in with a retail associate when you arrive and we will do our best to accommodate you!

All Limited Releases, including Single Barrels, will be released as they are bottled and without announcement. Bottle purchases are limited to 1 per person; first come, first served. While we are excited and also share your enthusiasm, we do not hold bottles.

No. There is no restaurant on site at Rabbit Hole. However, we are located in the Nulu neighborhood and our team can happily provide nearby recommendations to your group.

Located away from downtown Louisville, this distillery can be found near the iconic Witches’ Tree near Historic Old Louisville. Holi Gin is one of the best distilleries in Louisville and is the perfect place to experience something other than a bourbon tasting while you’re in the city. Designed and inspired by the Holi Festival of Color, Holi Gin is made with Indian inspiration. When you take a tour of the distillery, you can see how the gin is made, learn about different types of gin, and then spend the last thirty minutes of the tour learning how to make cocktails. The tour includes two amazing gin cocktails! After your visit, you will be able to find many attractions and restaurants nearby. The Conrad-Caldwell House Museum, St. James Court Fountain, and the Speed Art Museum are all just a few minutes away from Holi. Old Forester Distilling Co.

You will learn about the beginning of the historic Whiskey Row and how Old Forester has its beginning there. From decanters and mixing spoons to bourbon-scented candles and soaps, you can find it all at Old Forester Distilling Co. Copper and Kings

Distilleries in Louisville are simply remarkable. When you visit Cooper and Kings, you will see that it is more than just a distillery. This fantastic craft distillery is the place to be for brandy, gin, and absinthe, as well as incredible dishes served at their rooftop bar and restaurant. The restaurant has brunch and dinner offerings for guests. Everything from country ham boards and umami burgers can be found on the menu. Drinks like absinthe, American apple brandy, gun, and destillare liqueurs are just waiting for you to take a sip! While you’re there, you can treat yourself to not only spirit but cocktail modifiers to take home with you as well. Cooper and Kings is proud to serve up traditional American spirits. The philosophy for them is “low and slow.” They have beautiful alembic copper pot stills manufactured in Louisville. Their unique stills are hand hammered by artisans specifically for the brandy at Copper and Kings.

Evan Williams

When it comes to Louisville distilleries, do not pass up Evan Williams. Whiskey Row Louisville is where this spectacular distillery can be found. Whiskey Row is in the downtown area, which is one of the most fun places to be in the city for not only the attractions and distilleries but also the food. The downtown area has some of the best restaurants in Louisville ! Reasonable tour prices, wonderful tasting experiences with their whiskey and bourbon portfolio, and variety are all a part of what makes Evan Williams one of the best distilleries in Louisville. Their straight bourbons include an 86 proof, 100 proof, small batch, and their classic 5-time winner of Whiskey of The Year, the single bourbon vintage.

Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co

Kentucky Peerless Distilling Co is one of the best distilleries in Louisville, Kentucky. Louisville whisky tours are widely available in The Gateway to The South. The best tours happen at Kentucky Peerless! They have been making whiskey since the 1880s, and you can tour the urban warehouse distillery for yourself to see the history and process of making some of the greatest bourbon and rye in the state! The first whiskey at Peerless was put into the barrels in 1889. The craftsmanship has continued to develop since then, leading the distillery to produce some of the most remarkable whiskey in not only Louisville but the country. When you visit this distillery, you will feel as though you are becoming part of their family as tour guides proudly show you behind the scenes of the creation process. As such a historic distillery in Louisville, you will find that a visit to this distillery is extra special. During the prohibition in Kentucky, the Peerless warehouse distillery was one of the storage locations for whiskey, and it was also one of the dew places that could offer whiskey for medicinal use by prescription.

Michter’s Fort Nelson Distillery

MItcher’s Fort Nelson Distillery is a must on Louisville bourbon distillery tours. Louisville Kentucky bourbon is simply fantastic at Mitcher’s Fort Nelson. You can take tours and sit for tastings at this later 1800s facility that is famous for its bourbon and rye. Enjoy an in-house cocktail bar and more during your visit. This is a super nostalgic distillery, and as such, you can see homages to the past in every aspect of Mitcher’s. The historical legacy traces back to 1753 at the founding of America’s first whiskey company. You will find their 1 star, limited production, and their limited release lines at the distillery. Twenty-five-year Kentucky straight rye and Twenty-five-year Kentucky straight bourbon are available as well! The process of creating these amazing drinks is so important at Micther’s. They believe the cost is nothing when it comes to having everything they need to create a spectacular drink. It is by far one of the best distilleries in Louisville! When you visit the Fort Nelson location, you will be in a great location to see many of the best things to do in Louisville. Right across the street from the distillery is the Louisville Slugger Museum and Bat Factory. Then, within walking distance, you will find the Frazier History Museum, which has actually been designated as the welcome center for the Kentucky Bourbon Trail.

Prohibition Craft Spirits

Located in the Nulu district, Prohibition Craft Spirits is among the best places for a bourbon tasting in Louisville. You can take guided distillery tours and cocktail classes, or you can enjoy a fabulous tasting while you are visiting Prohibition Craft Spirits. In fact, the tastings and cocktail classes are what make it one of the best distilleries in Louisville. The cocktail classes are led by one of the distilleries’ mixologists. You will be able to expand your cocktail knowledge by using their amazing premium spirits and detailed instructions from an expert to guide you as you learn how to make new cocktails. During this experience you’ll go beyond the surface and take an in-depth look in the art and science of secondary maturation. How long is the tour?

Tours last approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour and include a historical tour, viewing of the artisanal still, and a guided tasting. It is recommended that you arrive approximately 30 minutes before the last tour time at 4:00 P.M.

How old do you have to be to take a tour?

All ages are welcome to tour the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience because of the educational subject matter, but you must be at least 21 years of age to participate in the tasting portion. Tickets for visitors aged 3 - 20 are available at a reduced rate. There is no charge for lap children ages 2 and under.

Is the distillery ADA accessible?

Yes, the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience and Gift Shop are both ADA accessible. An elevator is available to help navigate between floors and service animals are allowed. Please let the front desk know upon arrival if you have a wheelchair, scooter, or other special need so that you can be easily accommodated on the tour.

Are strollers allowed in the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience?

Yes, strollers are allowed in the building and, depending on the tour size, throughout the tour. You will be able to navigate between floors using the elevator. Given this, we do recommend use of a baby carrier for smaller infants/babies. Please note that no stroller parking is available.

May I take photos on the tour?

Yes, for most of the tour photography is welcomed. However, there are certain areas where photography is not allowed. Your tour guide will notify you of these sections prior to entering.

What is not allowed on the tour?

We ask that you refrain from eating or drinking any outside food or beverages while on the tour. We also ask that no pets, other than service animals, enter the building.

Is the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience a non-smoking facility?

Yes, the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience is a smoke free zone. There is no smoking inside the building or on the sidewalk outside.

Where can I park?

Paid parking is available in nearby garages, surface area lots, and on designated streets surrounding the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience.

Can I drop off in front of the building?

Visitors may be dropped off in front of the building, or you can pull into the surface area parking lot located at the corner of 6th and Main Street to drop off there.

What if I don’t have time to take a tour? Can I just do a tasting and visit the gift shop?

If your time is limited, we recommend that you visit the gift shop, which is open and accessible to all during regular business hours. It’s located on the second floor of the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience.

What is included in the tasting experience?

The tasting experience includes a selection of products from our award-winning American Whiskey & Bourbon portfolio.

THE 'FINE PRINT' FOR ALL KENTUCKY BOURBON INSIDER DISTILLERY TOURS Included in 'Tour Day' Price:   We will work with you to customize an agenda for the day and will purchase 'public tour' tickets in advance once the 50% deposit is paid as part of our 'Concierge Ticket Service'.  A bourbon tour guide and designated driver will pick-up and drop-off at Louisville hotels or residences.  Not Included in 'Tour Day' Price:   Tour tickets and/or tasting fees charged by each distillery are not included.  The average distillery ticket is between $20 to $25 and includes a tasting.  Some distilleries offer free or discounted tours and tasting to veterans, military and law enforcement with proper ID.  We do not include lunch or gratuities for our bourbon tour guides in our listed price.  Taxes and fees of 14.5% will be listed on the deposit request and final invoice.  The 18% minimum gratuity will automatically be added to your 50% deposit request and final invoice.

Deposit & Full Payment:   One half of our bourbon tour fee and the estimated distillery ticket costs is due the day the tour is booked with the remaining amount due based on the actual cost of distillery tickets at the end of the tour day.  All major credit cards are accepted via the Square online payment system.  If the final invoice is not paid after five business days, a $100 late payment fee will be applied.

Cancellation & Changes Policy:   If you cancel at least 14 day(s) in advance of the tour date, there is a $100 service fee for each tour day booked with us and your remaining deposit will be refunded unless tickets for Glenn's Creek are purchased as these are not refundable.  If you reschedule at least 14 day(s) in advance of the tour date, there is no service fee and your remaining deposit will be applied to your new date unless tickets for Glenn's Creek are purchased as these are not refundable.  If you cancel under 14 day(s) in advance of the scheduled departure, your deposit will be forfeited. 

Transportation Upgrade Options:   This is a 'private tour' transportation experience.  No outside guests will be in your vehicle.  Once our 'Fleet Vehicles' are booked, we will use other rental vehicles on busy days.  For two or three, a four door sedan will typically be used.  For four, five or six people, a 'Standard Class SUV' (Ford Explorer or similar) or MiniVan (Dodge Caravan or similar) with a 3rd row will typically be used.  Upgrade to a 'Fullsize Class SUV' (Tahoe or similar) for $175 or a 'Premium Class SUV' (Suburban, Ford Expedition or similar) for $225 or a passenger van (Mercedes Benz Sprinter, Ford Transit, Chevy Express or similar) for $275 per day.  For seven to eleven people, a passenger van (Mercedes Benz Sprinter, Ford Transit, Chevy Express or similar) will be used.

Distillery Tours:   Unless discussed and agreed to at the time of booking, all distillery tours will be booked for the standard 'public tour' offering at each distillery.  Some specialty tours offered by distilleries will sell out weeks or months in advance.   

Other Topics:   Minimum drinking age is 21 years and proper identification is checked at most all of the distilleries regardless of age.  The distilleries ask that you drink responsibly while visiting their facilities and on their tours.  For customer review details, please check Trip Advisor.  If your tour day runs longer than nine hours, your group will be charged $50 per hour thereafter.

Buffalo Trace Distillery is partnering with VisitLEX to offer a Bourbon Beginners Weekend Experience for “bourbon curious” adventurers looking to deepen their knowledge, understanding and overall confidence with whiskey.

The Bourbon Beginners Tour is designed to provide a welcoming, encouraging and exploratory introduction into Buffalo Trace Distillery and the broader bourbon category. The tour is a progressive tasting experience that allows visitors to taste test some of Buffalo Trace’s most renowned bourbons, both straight and in a cocktail sample, alongside fellow beginners during a guided tour.

“We know bourbon can seem intimidating at first, and our team is eager to help everyone feel welcome to visit and learn about the history and craftsmanship that goes into a uniquely American spirit,” said Buffalo Trace Distillery General Manager Tyler Adams. “This experience will be a safe space structured to eliminate the intimidation factor and, hopefully, Buffalo Trace Distillery will be the beginning of the start of their journey to falling in love with bourbon.”

The Bourbon Beginners Tour will take place on Saturday, August 17 at 4 p.m. There will be 100 tickets available, with tours running every 15 minutes between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., with the last tour ending around 6 p.m. Stops along the tour include locations showcasing various steps in the bourbon making process. Tickets are priced at $40 per person and includ a Bourbon Beginners starter kit that features a bottle of Buffalo Trace Bourbon, a bourbon rocks glass, a bottle of Stirrings Old Fashioned Cocktail Mix and a bottle of Peychaud’s Bitters.

In partnership with VisitLEX, purchase of a ticket will also include a   Bourbon Country Beginners Guide , which features bars, restaurants, hotels and attractions that complement and enhance Buffalo Trace Distillery’s Bourbon Beginners Tour. Ticket holders will receive a discount code or may present their ticket for special rates at participating partners.

Louisville, KY’s annual Bourbon and Beyond Music Festival just announced that the former frontman for The Police will step in to replace Neil Young, who had to bow out due to illness.

“While we will miss Neil Young at Bourbon this year, we’re excited to welcome a music legend, Sting, to the Bourbon & Beyond lineup,” Danny Wimmer, Founder of Danny Wimmer Presents shared. “We’ve been trying to bring Sting to Bourbon for you since 2018 and it’s an incredible honor to have him join us for what will undoubtedly be our biggest and most unforgettable year ever.”

Other notable acts on the bill for Bourbon and Beyond’s “biggest and most unforgettable year ever” include country icon Zach Bryan , recent Rock Hall of Fame inductee Dave Matthews Band , ’90s hero Beck , hitmakers Matchbox Twenty and folk favorites Fleet Foxes among many others.

In total, over 100 acts are set to perform at Bourbon and Beyond’s Kentucky Exposition Center from Sept. 19-22.

Single-day passes are available for as low as $72 before fees on Vivid Seats at the time of publication.

For those who want to take in the whole, long weekend, four-day passes start at $325 before fees .

Sting tour 2024

On top of this headlining spot, the Rock Hall of Famer will also embark on a nationwide tour this year with his three-piece band, Sting 3.0, featuring guitarist Dominic Miller, and Mumford & Sons drummer Chris Maas.

That includes three concerts at Brooklyn’s Paramount Theater on Oct. 7 and 9-10.

Louisville Downtown Partnership starts self-guided walking tours

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A new series of solo walking tours are coming to Louisville residents this summer. Louisville Downtown Partnership says the new venture is an opportunity to have people experience the culture, architecture, and history of Louisville.

Each walking tour is 45 to 60 minutes. Walkers can use web or podcasts platforms to get an immersive experience of Louisville from University of Louisville Archivist Tom Owen, author Rasheda Ali, and LDP’s executive director Rebecca Fleischaker.

“We are thrilled to unveil these new audio walking tours, offering an additional way for people to engage with Downtown and enlighten themselves about the story of our city,” Fleischaker said. “Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a longtime resident, these self-guided tours provide a personalized and educational experience that celebrates the unique character and heritage of our Downtown.”

Cleo Battle, Louisville Tourism President & CEO, is excited for people to see Whiskey Row, West Main Street, Civil Rights Markers, and other notable stops.

“Louisville’s walkability is on full display as guests enjoy this new audio tour series featuring many of the unique attractions that can only be found in Bourbon City,” Battle said. “We know these self-guided tours will tell Louisville’s authentic story, showcasing why Travel + Leisure named us one of the ‘50 Best Places to Travel to in 2024.”

The curated walking tours are presented by Republic Bank Foundation. Steve Trager, Executive Chair of Republic Bank, believes that the tours will “impact the lives of people visiting, working, and living downtown as well as highlighting the many sites that we enjoy every day.”

People can access each tour through Spotify or from the Louisville Downtown Partnership website. Free maps can also be printed and downloaded.

The Bourbon Trail is no secret around these parts but Kentucky is getting some national attention for another trail you may have missed.

The Bourbon Trail is no secret around these parts, but Kentucky is getting some national attention for another trail you may have missed.

The Bluegrass State is also home to the Beer Cheese Trail in Winchester, not far from Lexington.

According to Kentucky Tourism , it all started in the 1930s on the Kentucky River when Chef Joe Allman created Snappy Beer Cheese for his cousin's restaurant, The Driftwood Inn.

Over the decades, this cheese spread 'with a kick' has taken on endless variations and can be found on menus all over the globe.

Today, the Beer Cheese Trail consists of 15 stops, each offering its own unique and delicious selections, including a Beer Cheese Bloody Mary!

You can even check off your cheesy journey using their Beer Cheese Trail Digital Passport (Cheese Log), available here .
