What to know about Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Detroit

Make the friendship bracelets (as long as you wear them into the stadium).

It’s me, hi. I’m WDET’s resident Swiftie, it’s me.

Pop superstar Taylor Swift is returning to Ford Field this weekend on her highly anticipated Eras Tour , with performances on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10. Downtown Detroit will be packed with several other high-profile events, including Motor City Pride and two Tigers games against the Arizona Diamondbacks, so you’ll want to plan ahead before heading out.

But don’t worry, you’re not on your own, kid. Here’s what you need to know about Taylor Swift weekend in Detroit.

When is the show?

Doors open at 4:30 p.m., with the opening acts starting at 6:30 p.m. each night. Taylor is scheduled to hit the stage at 8 p.m. and perform until about 11 p.m. for a staggering 3-hour show.

What should I wear?

Two words: Comfortable. Shoes.

Fans have been going all-out with costumes relating to the past 17 years of Swift’s discography for this tour. That means curly hair and cowboy boots, fishnets and snake skin, head-to-toe glitter and everything in between.

But the main thing to keep in mind when prepping your outfit is that this is a long show. From doors open to curtains closed, that makes for a total of 6.5 hours that you could be inside Ford Field, not including the time it takes to leave the stadium — which could be a while too.

You’ll be waiting in lines for:

  • Getting into the stadium.
  • Buying merch.
  • Restroom breaks.
  • Getting out of the stadium.

Plus, if you’re anything like me, you’ll be dancing at your seat for the whole show. That’s a lot of standing and dancing.

As cute as those knee-high 6-inch heels might be, you might want to opt for wearing sneakers this time.

What can I bring?

Ford Field is enforcing the Clear Bag Policy for the Eras Tour. That means that bags larger than a clutch (no more than 4.5” x 6.5”) carried into the stadium must be made of clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and must not exceed 12” x 6” x 12”. For example, a gallon Ziploc bag would be fine, as long as you don’t mind carrying it all night. Additionally, clear bags may not contain stickers, graphics, writing or other decorations on more than one side.

Fans are also prohibited from bringing battery-operated clothing or signs, outside food or beverages (including water) or wrapped gifts. You can, however, bring friendship bracelets to trade with other concert-goers, as long as you wear them on your person when entering the stadium.

For a full list of prohibited items, visit their website .

What is there to eat?

Since it’s such a long show and you can’t bring in outside food or drink, you could either eat ahead of time or buy food at the stadium.

Ford Field has 50 permanent and 75 portable concession stands around the stadium, so that is an option if you don’t mind waiting in line and paying stadium prices. They offer hot dogs, chicken tenders, pizza, french fries, beer, soda and water. There will also be specialty themed cocktails available around the stadium, including Lover’s Lemonade, Midnight Mule and Spritz (Your Version).

Or, you can grab something to eat before the show at places like Tin Roof (which is open until 2 a.m.), Buddy’s (which is open until 11 p.m.) or Detroit Beer Co. (which is open until midnight). There’s also the option of eating at home before you leave or packing a lunch to eat in the parking lot before you go in for a little concert tailgate.

Whatever you choose, just make sure your body is fueled and hydrated before heading in there — you’re gonna need it.

Where should I park?

Ford Field offers pre-paid parking for $50 in their surrounding lots . The Ford Field parking deck and Lot 4 will open at 9 a.m., and fans can reserve their spot ahead of time online . ADA parking is also available in the parking deck on a first come, first served basis.

Keep in mind that downtown Detroit will be packed with people from several other events at the same time on Friday and Saturday night, so whether you go with official Ford Field parking or you choose to search for a better deal elsewhere, I would recommend getting there with plenty of time to spare.

Who’s opening for Taylor?

Swift is bringing nine total opening acts with her on the U.S. tour, and Detroit gets to see three of them.

Friday night, tour dancer-turned pop musician OWENN will open the show at 6:30 p.m., followed by indie pop singer-songwriter girl in red  at 7 p.m.

Saturday night, singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams will take the opening slot, followed by a second performance from girl in red.

Can I still get tickets?

While both nights are technically sold out, secondary resellers like StubHub and SeatGeek do have some available — though they’re expensive. As of this writing, nosebleeds were going for at least $980 before fees, and floor seats are over $2,000. It is possible resellers will drop their prices significantly in the hours leading up to the show as they get desperate, so keep an eye out if you like living on the edge.

If you don’t have tickets and still want merch — or if you just want to beat the lines this weekend — Ford Field is offering early merch sales today outside of Gate B. They’ll be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today (June 8).

What can I expect from the performance?

Swift’s setlist consists of 44 songs, including some from (almost) all of her studio albums (sorry, debut). The setlist stays mostly the same each night, but she has been performing a couple acoustic surprise songs that change each night. Maybe we’ll hear some “Motown beats” in actual Motown!

It really is an incredible show, from the music to the choreography to the visuals. Prepare to be overwhelmed in the best way possible.

And now you’re ready for it. Detroit, Michigan, capture it, remember it.

Taylor Swift’s Ford Field “Eras” show excites fans and evokes nostalgia

Taylor Swift at her Detroit concert.

It’s no secret that I’m a Swiftie.

I’ve written about Taylor countless times, and I’ll probably continue to do so for the rest of my time with The Michigan Daily (for instance, keep an eye out for my Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) review after the album drops on July 7).

I’ve listened to her songs, written about her music, stayed up late for her new releases, gone to her shows, driven myself crazy trying to figure out her Easter eggs and much, much more.

But I feel like I didn’t really understand what it meant to be a Swiftie until I attended the first Detroit show of her Eras Tour.

Even before the show started, the mood was set. We saw people decked out in elaborate, over-the-top eras-themed outfits the second we walked out of our car and into the parking garage. Throughout our 10-minute walk to Ford Field, we were joined by even more concertgoers, each in more extravagant outfits than the last. Tons of “ Bejeweled ” looks, more cowboy hats and boots than I could count, pink flouncy dresses, a lot of black leather and so much Eras Tour merch.

From the literal second I stepped out of the car until the moment I started driving away post-concert, I felt like part of this massive, sprawling community — a community I sometimes forget the sheer size of. All of these people were here for one purpose: to experience this concert. And sharing the Eras Tour (this once-in-a-lifetime concert) with all these Swifties was a truly unique and special experience.

Before I get to the actual concert (which, by the way, was easily the best concert I’ve ever gone to and probably will ever go to), I want to highlight another really unique aspect of this tour: the friendship bracelets. For those of you who may not know, in her song “You’re On Your Own, Kid,” Taylor has a line about “ mak(ing) the friendship bracelets ,” and as a result, fans attending her shows have been prepping for their concerts by making beaded friendship bracelets to trade with their fellow fans. I was one of those devoted, prepared fans, arriving at Ford Field with an armful of bracelets (only slightly cutting off my circulation). One of the most special, magical moments of the entire night was when I was able to give bracelets to little girls, shining with excitement about their first Taylor show. That really sums up what Taylor does for her fans — she nurtures this aura of togetherness and camaraderie that sees no age, gender, race or other factor. We’re all there; we’re all Swifties. And it’s kind of beautiful.

Now, for what you’ve all been waiting for — the concert itself. Gracie Abrams and girl in red opened the show, doing an amazing job of getting the crowd excited. It’s a daunting task to open for someone as huge as Taylor Swift, but both acts did the job impeccably and with no visible fear. The crowd was ready for Taylor, and a huge part of that was due to the performances that Gracie Abrams and girl in red gave.

So what about Taylor? I know for a fact it’s been discussed already, but it warrants further discussion. This woman sang 44 songs over the span of three hours with minimal breaks, just so her fans could experience the last 17 years of her music. My feet were hurting from standing, dancing and Instagram takeover-ing only one hour in, so I truly don’t know how she did it.

But she did.

Starting with the Lover era, she took to the stage with pastel colors and the line “It’s been a long time coming but / it’s me and you, that’s my whole world,” signifying the role that her fans play in her career and her life. Followed by “Cruel Summer” (and with it, the bridge to end all bridges), she really started out strong.

After a few more Lover songs, we entered the Fearless era. She may have asked us to go back to high school with her as she sang “You Belong With Me,” but I was transported back to elementary school and the feeling of dancing in my bedroom and singing into my hairbrush as I jammed out to this song (Which, by the way, I still do, and you’re lying to yourself if you claim you don’t).

She switched gears with evermore , and while most would highlight “champagne problems” as the best part of that era, I think “marjorie” stole the show. A song written about her maternal grandma, the sheer emotion she felt while singing was palpable. When the audience took out their phones to light up the stadium, she seemed as mesmerized by us as we were by her. And when her grandmother’s voice joined in the song, it felt like that moment was suspended in time for a second, where we all just breathed and took in what we were experiencing, Taylor included.

After a quick outfit change (and a huge shift in aesthetic), we all entered our reputation eras. I attended the reputation stadium tour back in 2018, but this felt even more gripping than that, even though we only heard four songs off the album this time around. From the second we saw the snake on the screen, the audience was on their feet, energy renewed by the anticipation of what was to come.

And then we got another genre shift when Taylor went from her snakeskin getup to her literal princess ball gown, as she sang “Enchanted,” my favorite song ever. I got weepy (and I’m sure others did too) as she called back to her Speak Now album. Screaming “please don’t be in love with someone else / please don’t have somebody waiting on you” in a stadium full of Swifties is incredibly cathartic, and I highly recommend everyone do it at least once in their lives.

Then we came skipping and bounding into the Red era with “22.” She primarily sang singles from the RED era, which felt criminal considering the amount of underrated songs on that album (“Holy Ground”? “State of Grace”? “Message in a Bottle”?), but she made up for it with “All Too Well (10 Minute Version).” It’s funny because the song truly didn’t feel 10 minutes long — when everyone around you is as wholly into the moment as you are, the song speeds by and lasts forever. It’s a paradox, a dichotomy, but when you’re at the Eras Tour, that’s all to be expected.

She followed Red with folklore , decked out in the most beautiful, pixie-like green dress, singing hit after hit. Taylor may not admit if she had a favorite album, but my money’s on folklore , considering that she performed more songs off that album than any other. From the three teenage love triangle songs to a stunning rock-esque version of “illicit affairs” to a haunting rendition of “my tears ricochet,” she put her whole heart and soul into embodying everything folklore is.

And then she shifted gears again. This woman reinvents herself so often — has so many eras — that she can go from folklorian to 1989 pop princess in seconds. And pop princess she was. Reentering the stage to her hit “Style,” the 1989 era was bright colors and catchy ear worms and everything she wanted it to be (and we wanted it to be).

And then, the best part of the night — the best part of every night of the Eras Tour: the surprise songs. Every single show, Taylor performs two surprise songs, typically ones she hasn’t played before on tour, so every crowd gets something special, something that’s their own. And, no offense to any other city, but Detroit Night One won the surprise songs. “Haunted,” a track off her third album, was perfect on the acoustic guitar, with the crowd lit up in purple. Considering that there’s only one Speak Now song permanently on the setlist, getting a surprise song from that era felt like a particularly glorious moment. She followed this with the highly underrated song “I Almost Do” from the Red album. As mentioned earlier, many Red songs on the permanent set lists are singles, so getting to hear a song that usually flies under the radar as our second surprise felt like she was giving us a hidden gem.

After diving away from the surprising songs, we were thrust into Midnights . As her latest album, Midnights got its own moment in the tour, spanning seven songs and tons of iconic moments. With an entrance to the line “meet me at midnight,” Taylor ushered in the final era of the night with a bang. And when she ended the show with “Karma,” it felt like no time at all had passed, even though we’d been at the venue for hours by then. As she said her goodbyes, I was left wondering how that time could have passed as quickly as it had. Forty-four songs, three hours … gone, just like that.

I’ve heard people talking about this post-concert amnesia they’re experiencing, where the sheer joy they felt actually eclipses the ability to form or maintain memories of the night, but I don’t think that will happen to me. Whether it’s giving a friendship bracelet to the little girl dressed in a folklore costume or seeing Taylor sing “Enchanted” or experiencing a Taylor Nation notice live during the show (yes, that happened), I feel like all these memories are imprinted on me. Maybe it’s cheesy or dramatic to say that, but it also feels true. Taylor made this show, planned it carefully (like a “Mastermind,” if you will), with the intention that we would all go down memory lane with her as she reexperienced her highly expansive discography, and I’m so thrilled and privileged to have been a part of that. So, yes, I will be “ hold(ing) on to the memories ,” because I can’t imagine letting a single moment from this night slip away.

Taylor Swift in Detroit: Everything to know before you go to the shows

DETROIT (FOX 2) - One of the biggest pop stars of all time is in Detroit at Ford Field for a two-day extravaganza in Downtown that is going to bring thousands of people into the city.

Taylor has been breaking records and exciting fans with her Eras Tour, an epic celebration of her career and new music releases since the pandemic and this weekend, she arrives in Detroit.

Taylor's tour broke Ticketmaster's website , leading to a massive lawsuit . Now tickets are available in the secondary market for a massive markup.

If you're one of the lucky 65,000+ plus with tickets to either night, you're going to want to make sure you are prepared for this massive weekend.

The highly-anticipated tour kicked off on March 17 in Phoenix, Arizona with Swift performing 44 songs from 10 albums for over three hours and 15 minutes.

Nearly two months into the 52-show Eras Tour, the 12-time Grammy-winner has received rave reviews for the concert despite the length of the shows.

What day is Taylor Swift in Detroit?

Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour will be in Detroit on Friday, June 9 and Saturday, June 10.

Doors at Ford Field open at 4:30 p.m. on both nights with openers going on at 6:30 including Girl in Red, Owenn, and Gracie Abrams.

After the openers, Taylor will hit the stage for what's expected to be a 3 hour show each night.

Lawsuit filed by Taylor Swift fans taking on Ticketmaster monopoly

A Metro Detroit woman is one of the many fans of Taylor Swift joining in on a legal case against Ticketmaster.

Can you still buy tickets to Taylor Swift in Detroit?

Ford Field has listed both shows as complete sell-outs. But that doesn't mean you can't find some tickets somewhere - just know you're going to pay…a LOT for them.

Tickets START at $1,500 per seat on StubHub. That's for one seat. PLUS fees, in the top row of Ford Field.

Of course, you can find a better view for only $18,000.

So, in short, if you want to buy a ticket, prepare to take out a loan. Tickets may go down slightly on Friday and Saturday as the ticket-holders get antsy about selling their seats.

Where to park at Ford Field for Taylor Swift's concert?

We're not going to sugarcoat it. Parking is not going to be fun.

Both nights that Taylor's on the stage, the Detroit Tigers are in town next door at Comerica Park. That means upwards of 100,000 people could be downtown and there are far from that many spots available.

Parking at Ford Field would cost you $50 if you can get in. Otherwise, you can reserve a spot now at Ford Field's official reservation system ParkWhiz . But be ready to pay there too. A parking spot there is going to cost you up to $200 – JUST to park your car.

So it may be best to take a rideshare or park farther away and take the Q-Line

What music will Taylor Swift perform at The Eras tour?

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour: All the U.S. and international dates and opening acts

detroit michigan eras tour

Taylor Swift opened the Eras Tour at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona — which rebranded itself as "Swift Cit y" for the March 17 and 18 concerts — with a triumphant return to live performance as the first act in the history of that venue to sell out two nights on the same tour.

By that point, she'd already broken the all-time record for most concert tickets sold by an artist in a single day and passed Madonna's Sticky & Sweet Tour as the highest-grossing tour in history by a female artist.

And Swift rose to the occasion , leading her band through a marathon 44-song set that lasted more than three hours while delivering on her promise of "a journey through all of my musical eras."

So what does she do for an encore? Here's where the Eras Tour is headed next, adding two surprise songs to the set at each show. Here's a look at what she's played so far .

Gretchen Whitmer to Taylor Swift: Michigan has been waiting for you

detroit michigan eras tour

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer says Michigan is in its "Fearless" era.

Whitmer took to Twitter on Friday to welcome Taylor Swift in a video peppered with nods to the singer's top hits. Swift is in Detroit on Friday and Saturday as part of her popular Eras Tour at Ford Field. Thousands are expected in downtown Detroit and fans are eagerly awaiting the singer. Among those excited for her arrival: the state's top leader.

Whitmer says Michigan has been waiting for her — a reference to Swift's "Welcome to New York" — and highlights what the governor says makes the Midwestern state special.

"We have an incredible team of leaders who take pride in fighting for freedom," Whitmer said. "Michiganders are resilient and fighting for change, Taylor's Version," a reference to Swift's album re-releases known as Taylor's Version.

"Michigan is a place where we fight for equal rights for all and to enact change. We need to elect leaders to fight for freedom. This is our place. We make the rules in Michigan," referring to the song "Lover."

Whitmer went on: "We'd like to echo your sentiment: the best people in life are free," hinting at the song "New Romantics."

More: Taylor Swift and Detroit: The story of a budding star and her early, key Motor City links

The nods to Swift's songs keep going in the 1 minute 31 second video.

Whitmer touts Michigan's lakes — Swift has a song called "The Lakes" on one of her most recent albums, "Folklore."

"I'm personally in my Reputation era," Whitmer said, referencing the 2017 album where Swift revealed a new style and pushes back against public scrutiny .

"And if you're finding yourself not wanting to leave Michigan after this weekend, don't blame me. To all the fans going to the concert this weekend. Have an incredible time. And I just have one last thing to say. Are you ready for it?" Whitmer said.

The video drops as local fans have been preparing for Swift's sold-out concerts. The tour spans  Swift's 10 studio albums , and  fans across the country  are creating and wearing outfits to match. For Swifties, it's a chance to flaunt their favorite album or song and channel what Swift's music has meant to them growing up. Along with costumes, many fans are also  trading friendship bracelets at the concerts, with lyrics or album names threaded together.

Those got a nod from Whitmer, too.

"To the Swifties — make your friendship bracelets and no matter what era you’re in, shake off. Stay safe and have fun," Whitmer said in her post accompanying the video, though the message dropped a word in the title of Swift's mega hit "Shake It Off."

Swift's ties to metro Detroit are strong. The Free Press' Brian McCollum writes that she had a pivotal career break in a suburban Detroit parking lot . In 2006, the then 16-year-old singer made her first trip out to metro Detroit and met with WYCD-FM program director Tim Roberts at a parking lot at the P.F. Chang’s on Haggerty Road in Northville Township. Fans speculate that Swift is referencing that moment in her song "You're On Your Own, Kid" where she says: "I play my songs in the parking lot."

If Whitmer was looking for a local reference in Swift's lyrics, she could have borrowed from the song "London Boy," in which she sings, "I love my hometown as much as Motown."

Free Press staff writer Brian McCollum contributed to this report.

Taylor Swift's microphone on The Eras Tour stopped working, so she screamed into it and tried hitting it like it was a broken TV remote in front of 60,000 people

  • Taylor Swift's microphone malfunctioned during one of her Eras Tour shows on Sunday.
  • Swift tried to get it to work by screaming into it and hitting it repeatedly.
  • Eventually, someone came to her aid with a new mic so she could continue with her set.

Even Taylor Swift isn't immune to technical difficulties.

On Sunday, Swift took the stage at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois, as part of the US leg of her Eras Tour.

While performing during the "Lover" segment of the show, her blue-and-pink microphone stopped working. She then proceeded to scream into it to see if the audience could hear her.

Most concertgoers were met with silence, but some of the lucky few in the front rows could hear her shouting, "Hello!"

When that didn't work, she started hitting it in her hands as if it were a TV remote that was running low on batteries.

The crowd began chanting her name as she smiled and kept trying to figure out what was wrong.

Finally, a crew member appeared with a backup mic and Swift was able to continue on with her show.

Later on in the show, Swift faced another unfortunate situation when she accidentally swallowed a bug.

As Insider's Eve Crosbie previously reported, the moment came just as Swift was about to sing "Tolerate It," the fifth track off her pandemic-era album "Evermore."

"I'm totally fine. It's just so stupid," she said as she tried coughing up the insect. She then poked fun at the incident by saying, "Oh, delicious," followed by, "Is there any chance none of you saw that?"

However, the night got a lot better from there for the concertgoers, as Swift surprised the crowd with back-to-back live debuts of two exceptional breakup songs, "Hits Different" and "The Moment I Knew."

Swift's Eras Tour will continue on to Detroit, Michigan, on Friday.

Festival-goers travel to Detroit for Movement Music Festival

By Terell Bailey

May 25, 2024 / 12:09 AM EDT / CBS Detroit

(CBS DETROIT) — It's Memorial Day weekend, and a lot is happening in Detroit. But downtown Detroit is seeing a lot of people, mainly for the Movement Music Festival .

It has attracted people from far and close to Hart Plaza.

"Everyone is just having a good time. Everyone is showing love to one another and just vibing out. Also, I think there's this creativity surrounding movement; you can show up no matter what you look like; there's just this individuality," said Amy Johnson.

For Johnson, a lifelong Detroiter, the festival is an annual event. She has two friends with her, one of whom even flew into town.

While Movement brings them to town, it's the festivities after that's got them eager.

"We're going to parties that start at 11 p.m. and are going to go for three days. I think we're going to a party that ends at 7 a.m. on Tuesday," she and her friends chuckled.

A study by Kyprto Casinos found that Movement is one of America's happiest festivals , coming in at No. 5.

But with over 20 performers, some will have a hard time choosing who to watch.

"I'll be the busiest on Monday, jumping through multiple stages for multiple artists," Amanda Kennedy said.

Kennedy and her friends traveled from Toronto, Canada, to Detroit in four hours. She said seeing DJ Fatboy Slim would fulfill some of her middle school dreams.

It's their first time in the Motor City, and to their pleasure, the city is a surprise. They said they can firsthand understand how the city is improving, and the stigma no longer holds a heavyweight.

"It's cleaner than I thought it was going to be ... Good vibes," said Kennedy.

"I wasn't expecting it to be very calm and subtle," said Gabi Amy.

Many are after good vibes this weekend. The techno music event even has businesses offering ways to get interactive if you want to play DJ for a few minutes.

"This has been a part of our culture; it's been something I've known since a kid. The energy in the city on Memorial Day weekend around Movement is unlike any other city that you'll ever experience," Johnson said.

As Hart Plaza has transformed into a music venue, the area is excited. Even those who don't have tickets to the event want to come downtown and witness the city at its best.

"There's a realization of what's available in the city of Detroit now, so they're having the opportunity to learn the truth about what's available in Detroit themselves, so welcome to what's really Detroit," Sherry Swift said.

Swift and her friends decided to stroll on the Riverwalk to be in the mix of it all.

A lot will happen in Detroit over the next 72 hours, and many people say they just want to have a good time.

Diana Ross, Jack White and Big Sean, who represent three distinct generations of Detroit superstars, will headline Thursday's all-star concert to celebrate the reopening of Michigan Central Station, organizers announced Monday. The sold-out concert will be streamed live starting at 8:30 p.m. Thursday on Peacock, followed by a one-hour primetime special at 7 p.m. Sunday on NBC.

Big Sean, Diana Ross and Jack White, three generations of Detroit superstars, will headline Thursday's concert to celebrate the reopening of Michigan Central Station.

The concert is being executive produced by Eminem and his longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg. Other acts lined up for the 90-minute outdoor show include Common, Fantasia, Melissa Etheridge and Jelly Roll, along with Detroiters Illa J, Kierra Sheard, Theo Parrish, Slum Village, the Clark Sisters, Sky Jetta and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra. The program is rumored to fold in tributes to legendary Detroit rocker Bob Seger and late Detroit hip-hop producer J Dilla.

Detroit Lions legend Barry Sanders and current Lions stars Jared Goff and Amon-Ra St. Brown are also slated to participate, along with comedian Mike Epps and actress Sophia Bush.

The live celebration comes as Ford Motor Company is reopening Michigan Central Station , the once-abandoned Corktown train station that closed in 1988 and for decades stood as a symbol of Detroit's decline.

"We wanted to celebrate the reopening of Michigan Central Station in style and make it a night to remember for Detroiters and people watching around the world," Bill Ford, executive chair of Ford, said in a statement. "I am honored and grateful that so many of Detroit’s musical legends, sports heroes, artists and innovators are joining us to celebrate the city we all love and the bright future we are creating together."

Tickets for the free concert were made available on May 22 and all 15,000 were claimed within five minutes , according to Michigan Central spokesman Dan Austin.

Gates for the concert, located off Michigan Avenue into Roosevelt Park, will open at 6 p.m. The show is slated to wrap at 10 p.m.

Locally, WDIV-TV (Ch. 4) will have exclusive coverage starting at 8 p.m. Thursday, and also streaming on Local 4+.

The event is being produced by Diversified Production Services and Killian + Company, and other exec producers on board include Grammy Awards executive producer Jesse Collins, Dionne Harmon and Jeannae Rouzan-Clay.

Ross, who turned 80 in March, is one of Motown's brightest stars, and she rose to international superstardom as a member of the Supremes, who were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. The concert will be her first in Detroit since a July 2016 concert at the then-Chene Park Amphitheatre. (She did perform at the Colosseum at Caesars Windsor in September 2023.)

White, 48, emerged from Detroit's garage rock scene in the late 1990s with his two-piece the White Stripes, and broke big in 2001 with the band's "White Blood Cells." The group was nominated for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023. White's last Detroit performance was at the Masonic Temple in April 2022, where he stunned concertgoers by proposing to and then marrying his girlfriend, Olivia Jean, on stage .

Big Sean, 36, rose out of Detroit's hip-hop scene in the late '00s with a series of mixtapes, following his signing to Kanye West's G.O.O.D. Music after he rapped for him outside of a Detroit radio station in 2005. He released his debut album "Finally Famous" in 2011, and performed at the first night of the NFL Draft in April in downtown Detroit.

Detroit mayor Mike Duggan said the concert's lineup is symbolic of the importance of the reopening of Michigan Central.

"Detroit is known around the world for its musical talent, and having so many legendary artists kick off the celebration for the reopening of the iconic Michigan Central Station shows how meaningful this moment is for our city," Duggan said in a statement. "This historic landmark symbolizes Detroit’s resilience, innovation, and now, its bright future. This is about more than preserving a piece of our past. It also is about paving the way for a new era of growth and opportunity for all Detroiters."
