January 29, 2024 – Today, iconic hitmakers Train and REO Speedwagon have announced they will be joining forces for this summer’s hottest co-headlining tour. The diamond-selling bands will be hitting the road on the Summer Road Trip 2024 Tour , bringing together Train’s critically-acclaimed catalog of global hits with REO Speedwagon’s vast collection of timeless classics for an unforgettable night of music, high energy, and fun that transcends generations. With more than 50 million albums sold worldwide, 32 songs on Billboard’s Hot 100, and 28 albums on the Billboard 200 albums chart between them, fans nationwide will have a chance to witness epic sets from two of the hardest-working, fun-loving, non-stop touring bands as they perform hours of hits featuring chart-topping anthems and timeless fan favorites.

Produced by Live Nation, the 44-city tour kicks off on July 8 in Somerset, WI at Somerset Amphitheater, making stops in Chicago, Toronto, New York, Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles and more before wrapping up on September 11 in Phoenix, AZ at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre. To celebrate the highly anticipated Summer Road Trip 2024 Tour , Train and REO Speedwagon will take the stage at LA’s famed Whisky a Go Go nightclub on the Sunset Strip this Thursday, February 1 for an intimate sneak preview concert that is not to be missed. Tickets for the show go on sale today at 12pm PT here . Additionally, the bands will be stopping by Jimmy Kimmel Live! this Wednesday, January 31 for a very special collaboration, which marks their first-ever performance together on stage. Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs on ABC at 11:35p/10:35c, and is available next day on Hulu.

Of the tour, Train frontman Pat Monahan shared: “When I was younger I heard a band called REO Speedwagon and fell in love with their numerous, infectious hit songs. Years later I met Kevin Cronin, and thank goodness he’s as great a person as he is a songwriter. This tour won’t just be a great time with great people, but a tour that will have a ton of familiar songs to most generations. I will be wishing I was in the audience as much as I’ll love being on the stage.”

REO Speedwagon’s Kevin Cronin said: “Pat Monahan and I have done several benefit shows over the years, and now we get to take out our bands for a summer full of music and fun. Sandwiched between a weekend of Third Eye Blind shows back in June, was an Amphitheater performance by none other than the beloved Train. I'm no stranger to their live shows. I've seen them everywhere from 20,000 capacity outdoor stadiums to Tropicana Field to intimate settings such as the Mahaffey Theatre for their Christmas Show last December. No matter the venue, Pat Monahan and company always seem to bring down the house.

Their most recent Tampa stop was no exception as Train played a set full of hits to a mostly filled Florida Central Credit Union Amphitheater. (Likely cause from tickets being on Groupon for $15) I missed out on openers Matt Nathanson and The Fray, but got my spot in the lawn just as Train hit the stage.

One of the reasons Train has survived and still has the ability to play such large venues after all these years is due to the vocal ability of Monahan. The singer is an absolute beast, focusing on the vocals and belting out line after line that carries well into the last few rows of lawn space. Pat's antics really make Train an entertaining band to see live. He departed into the crowd for a few songs and even invited audience members on stage to dance with him at different parts of the night.

The other main reason is that Train is a well oiled machine now that knows what the fans want to hear. They play materials from all seven of their studio albums, but they definitely focus on the hits. Even a causal music fan would be amazed with how many Train tunes they recognize. Not one of the greatest hits was missed on the evening, keeping the crowd loud and captivated for the full set duration.

Highlights for myself was poppy '50 Ways to Save Goodbye' right into 'If It's Love' to get the crowd going from the start, as well as honoring their early work with classics in 'Meet Virginia' and 'Drops of Jupiter.' I thought the best vocal performance of the night was hearing Pat sing his heart out on 'When I Look to the Sky.'

The fans were well satisfied throughout the set, and Train even threw in a series of familiar covers to mix things up. This included Aerosmith's 'Dream On' as part of a sing a long encore. Overall, there was no better place to be in Tampa that night for $15. Train is always sounding good and putting on a fun show. I know I'll be buying tickets next summer (or hopefully this winter) for their next stop in Florida.

Train was decent, not as good as they were last year when I saw them at The Ravinia in Highland Park, but decent. As usual, their performance was a very high energy one, which definitely made it enjoyable. However, in spite of that, the vocals and the instrumentation still left something to be desired.

They opened with one of their newer songs and initially the lead singer's voice sounded a little nasal and whiny. Fortunately, it got better as the show progressed. Even so, there were still a couple of rocky moments and at least one where I saw him pull his earpiece out so he could hear himself because he was off key.

As for the instrumentation, after hearing such great musicians at the Milwaukee Summer Fest, the band didn't really excite me or make me say ooh. While they weren't horrible, they weren't spectacular either. I did however, like the background singers. They sounded really good and they definitely added a much needed element to the show.

I also loved when they brought the kids from the audience onstage and let them dance during one of the songs. That was awesome and I love the fact that Train's show is one that you can bring a kid to without having to be concerned that they'll see or hear something they shouldn't. Therefore, in spite of my various caveats about this particular performance, I won't rule out seeing them again because they still have great songs, they always give you a good show and in spite of my caveats, I still had a good time.

I first saw Train in concert in 2006 and I loved every minute of it. This is exactly my type of music. It isn't too hard, yet it makes you feel pretty good about things going on around you.

I especially love Pat's acoustic version of Drops of Jupiter. I really like when they play that one on a show. There's something really honest about simple guitar pieces – it really shows off a person's talent, as it does with this piece by Train.

That said, it's also really fun when Pat suddenly whips out a megaphone to sing "I Got You". I like how they seem so comfortable with their music. The audience really got into it when "Save Me San Francisco" was performed. The audience was part of the song, and were made to sing part of the song. This was a really fun part of the show. The audience really got into the show at this point.

I went to my last Train show with a few people that weren't really familiar with Train, but as the show went on, they really seemed to be having a good time and getting into the music. You just couldn't help yourself.

Train have a way of just making you feel like you wanted to join in. I will definitely go to another concert by Train this year, they're touring pretty hard at the moment. I think the 'nonbelievers' that were with me would also immediately agree to going to another concert!

Saw OAR, James Bay and Train this past Wednesday at the Hammerstein Ballroom. During the beginning of James Bay's set that there were not enough speakers to fully fill the space, but they figured out how to fix that audio by the end of the show. James Bay - Let it Go brought chills. He is so so great live - and even more talented of a live performer than he is a recorded artist. Extremely talented guitar player, and integrated rock with his adaption of Creedence Clearwater Revival's 'Proud Mary.' The night ended with Train - they were... AMAZING. Patrick Monahan has such a stage presence and was nothing but smiles the entire night. The set list was so on point, and even included an appearance from Matt Nathanson. They finished with Hey Soul Sista and Drops of Jupiter.

I had the best time at this concert. Train performed a couple of covers (awesome!), a few new tunes, and their greatest hits! Pat was a consummate showman and the band was exceedingly talented! I took my parents (very young 63 and 64) for their 45th anniversary! Train is one of their all-time favorite bands and it was an absolute treat to share this experience with them. They drove up from Nashville to see them with me in Columbia.

Train was Awesome. Pat is such an amazing and talented artist. From taking probably 100+ selfies with fans while singing on stage, to him and all the band autographing a Train t-shirt and tossing it into the crowd, the entire evening was one of the best concert experiences of my life. I love when they do covers of other groups songs. Tonight Train did "With a Little Help From My Friends" and Pat brought out Isaac Slade (The Fray) and Matt Nathanson to sing with him. Best version of that song I've heard. Can't say enough good things about Train, from the band to their music, to attending live concerts. They are the best.

This was my 8th Train concert..their concerts are unbelievabley amazing. Pat (lead singer) makes you feel like hes performing just for you. He does an amazing job connecting with the crowd. Every Train concert I've been to has improved emensly. I doubt you will go to any concert and get the same interaction. Mostly every concert I've been to, have gotten something out of it. It's either a signed t-shirt, a t-shirt he threw into the crowd and I caught, a signed beach ball, a picture with him or even going up on stage. The experience you will encounter at a Train concert is unforgettable.

The show was excellent! no down time! great interaction with audience! Great music it was a really fun time! would say a must see! Even with it being so hot out the entire band really went all out on stage train played for about an hour and a half. Matt Nathanson, and the singer for fray joined in on the song with a little help from my friends! It was excellent! Also enjoyed the rendition of Dream on by Aerosmith! During the encore!

This is the hands down best band! Not only do they have a amazing music, but the lead has the other members sing different songs as well! That is a great secure band lead! He always includes the fans in concert and it is very deliberate you can tell its not staged. I will always follow them and their amazing concert Venus. Thanks Train you are officially my favorite band. If you knew my obsession with music..that's saying a lot!

REO SPEEDWAGON And TRAIN Announce Summer 2024 Tour

Iconic hitmakers TRAIN and REO SPEEDWAGON have announced they will be joining forces for this summer's co-headlining tour. The diamond-selling bands will be hitting the road on the "Summer Road Trip 2024" tour, bringing together TRAIN 's critically acclaimed catalog of global hits with REO SPEEDWAGON 's vast collection of timeless classics for an unforgettable night of music, high energy, and fun that transcends generations. With more than 50 million albums sold worldwide, 32 songs on Billboard 's Hot 100, and 28 albums on the Billboard 200 albums chart between them, fans nationwide will have a chance to witness epic sets from two of the hardest-working, fun-loving, non-stop touring bands as they perform hours of hits featuring chart-topping anthems and timeless fan favorites.

Produced by Live Nation , the 44-city tour kicks off on July 8 in Somerset, Wisconsin at Somerset Amphitheater, making stops in Chicago, Toronto, New York, Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles and more before wrapping up on September 11 in Phoenix, Arizona at Talking Stick Resort Amphitheatre. To celebrate the highly anticipated "Summer Road Trip 2024" tour, TRAIN and REO SPEEDWAGON will take the stage at Los Angeles's famed Whisky A Go Go nightclub on the Sunset Strip this Thursday, February 1 for an intimate sneak preview concert that is not to be missed. Tickets for the show go on sale today at 12 p.m. PT. Additionally, the bands will be stopping by "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" this Wednesday, January 31 for a very special collaboration, which marks their first-ever performance together on stage. "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" airs on ABC at 11:35p/10:35c, and is available next day on Hulu .

Of the tour, TRAIN frontman Pat Monahan shared: "When I was younger I heard a band called REO SPEEDWAGON and fell in love with their numerous, infectious hit songs. Grammy Award-winning group Train is set to chug, er, travel all over the country on their 47-concert 2023 nationwide tour that will send them from Alaska all the way to Delaware.

Now that’s a commute.

Along the way, the band that brought the world “Soul Sister” and “Drops Of Jupiter” is set to drop into New York City’s The Theater at Madison Square Garden on May 2 and Atlantic City’s Caesars on Aug. 25.

The septet can’t wait to hit the road either.

“Gonna make this the best summer ever,” they shared on Instagram .

Plus, on select dates, Pat Monahan and co. are bringing along special guests Better Than Ezra and THUNDERSTORM ARTIS.

Train 2023 tour schedule

Starting April 29, Train will take off on their nationwide run.

Their first stop is at Lincoln, CA’s The Venue at Thunder Valley Casino Resort .

After that, they’ll play in huge markets like Salt Lake City on July 31, Grand Rapids on Aug. 7, Charleston on Sept. 2, Memphis on Sept. 8 and Minneapolis on Sept. 11.

The Train tour reaches its final destination on Sept. 12 at Cedar Rapids, IA’s McGrath Amphitheatre .

Platinum-selling outfit Train will be teaming up with REO Speedwagon later in 2024 for a major co-headlining tour across North America. Their Summer Road Trip tour kicks off July 8th in Somerset and stretches into September hitting additional cities like Pittsburgh, Tinley Park, Maryland Heights, Toronto, Clarkston, Bethel, Tampa, Dallas and Inglewood. Joining the tour in support will be special guests Yacht Rock Revue . The band recently wrapped up a sizable U.S. tour earlier in 2023 which was joined by Better Than Ezra and Parmalee .

Train will continue supporting their 11th studio album 'AM Gold' released on May 20th, 2022 via Columbia Records. The same year, the band launched their AM Gold Tour along with support from Jewel , Blues Traveler , Thunderstorm Artis and Will Anderson . Back in 2019, they joined forces with Goo Goo Dolls for a huge North American tour after hitting the road with Hall & Oates the prior year. REO Speedwagon Announces Summer Tour With Train

REO Speedwagon will be back on the road again this summer, touring for the first time with Train .

The Summer Road Trip 2024  starts July 8 in Somerset, Wisconsin and is currently set to wrap on September 11 in Phoenix, Arizona. Artist presales begin on Wednesday (Jan. 31) with the general onsale starting Friday (Feb. 2).  Yacht Rock Revue will open all of the shows. You can see a complete list of tour dates below.

The two bands will team up for a special performance on Wednesday (Jan. 31) on Jimmy Kimmel Live! They'll continue to celebrate the tour announcement with an intimate concert the next day at the Whisky in Hollywood, California.

The Midwest classic rockers first teased the trek earlier this month. Vocalist Kevin Cronin noted on Instagram that they would be “announcing a very special summer tour.” He added that they were “very stoked to be sharing the stage with an awesome band and an amazing lead singer that we’ve never played with before.”

Though Train are perhaps best known for their past pop and Top 40 success with hits like “Drops of Jupiter” and “Hey, Soul Sister,” they’re also well-known for their love of classic rock. They recorded an album featuring Led Zeppelin II in its entirety in 2016 -- and have mixed in songs by .38 Special and Eagles in some of their recent set lists. Train's Pat Monahan is also quick to identify himself as an REO fan. "When I was younger I heard a band called REO Speedwagon and fell in love with their numerous, infectious hit songs," the singer said in a press release. "Years later I met Kevin Cronin, and thank goodness he’s as great a person as he is a songwriter. This tour won’t just be a great time with great people, but a tour that will have a ton of familiar songs to most generations. I will be wishing I was in the audience as much as I’ll love being on the stage.”

As Cronin tells UCR, the pairing is a welcome surprise. “It was kind of a shocker. Because, normally we’re out there with Styx or Journey , you know, in our comfort zone," he explains. "But I really dig Train and I’ve always thought that Patrick Monahan is just a world-class singer and songwriter. I’ve loved their records from Drops of Jupiter on."

"It was a really unique proposition to do a big Live Nation tour with those guys. The more I thought about this [tour], the more I started seeing it," he continues. "I started thinking about the songs . Because you know, it’s really about the songs. I was listening to Patrick’s voice and I’m really looking forward to being up there on the same stage and playing our show every night. I think it’s going to be a [good challenge]."

What Fans Can Expect From REO and Train

With 32 Top 100 hits between the two bands, there's no shortage of classic songs. But Cronin says he and Monahan have already been deep in discussion to figure out how they can make the evening an experience that fans will remember. With that in mind, they're talking about some songs that they might be able to jam on together. "Patrick and I, from the very first conversation that we had, that was something that both of us want to do," he says. "My first thought was to pick a [song from] Simon & Garfunkel or the Everly Brothers . But then I thought, well, actually, you could take ‘Bye Bye Love’ by the Everlys and mash it up with ‘Homeward Bound’ by Simon & Garfunkel."

"Because if you remember “Homeward Bound,” in the chorus, they go to double-time and it’s the same kind of feeling as “Bye Bye Love,” he details. "We thought about that and we’re like, 'Well, it’s a little folk-sy.' If we were doing a club tour or a theater tour, maybe. For amphitheaters, that might be a little too stripped down. So we’ll see. But we’re going to do something. Both bands are into it, we just have to figure out how to make it all work logistically."

Leading up to the summer dates, REO Speedwagon will keep the engine running with additional performances of their Hi Infidelity album in Las Vegas. Cronin is also excited about upcoming shows with Rick Springfield and Cheap Trick . "I think Robin [Zander] still owes me for a poker game in 1978," he laughs. "So I'm gonna see if I can settle that or if he wants to go double or nothing. It's time."

Train is a multi-GRAMMY and Billboard Award-winning band from San Francisco that has had 14 songs on Billboard’s Hot 100 list since the release of their debut self-titled album. Train’s climb to the top began in 1994, as the original 5-member band tenaciously built a loyal hometown following, leading up to their debut album, released by Columbia in 1998. The tumbling wordplay of “Meet Virginia” gave them their first unlikely radio hit and 2001’s  Drops of Jupiter  broke them to multi-platinum status thanks to the double-Grammy Award-winning title song that spent 10 months in the Top 40, has been certified 7x platinum in the US, and earned the 2001 GRAMMY Award for Best Rock Song. The group won another GRAMMY Award in 2011 for their global hit “Hey, Soul Sister” from their multi-platinum album  Save Me, San Francisco . “Hey, Soul Sister ” was the No.1 best-selling smash and most downloaded single of 2010, achieved RIAA Diamond status in 2021 and now 11x platinum, and in 2022 surpassed one billion streams on Spotify. Train are punching their ticket for the Summer Road Trip 2024 , with co-headliner REO Speedwagon and special guest Yacht Rock Revue in tow. Starting in July, the Grammy-winning pop-rock band is calling all angels aboard for a new Train setlist following 2023’s Definitely Not a Tour.

With over 40 dates across North America, Train is proving that the Summer Road Trip 2024 is not a drive by for fans. The new trek launches on July 8 in Somerset, Wisconsin and makes stops to Toronto, Tampa, Dallas and more before reaching its final destination in Phoenix in September.

Train and REO Speedwagon announce 2024 tour. Get tickets today

It’s unlikely they’ll be traveling by train, speedwagon or yacht.

In any event, Train, REO Speedwagon and Yacht Rock Revue have announced they’re teaming up to travel all over North America this summer as part of their huge 43-concert ‘Summer Road Trip Tour.’

“This tour won’t just be a great time with great people, but a tour that will have a ton of familiar songs to most generations,” Train lead singer Pat Monahan shared. “I will be wishing I was in the audience as much as I’ll love being on the stage.”

Along the way, the transportation-minded co-headliners will make a handful of stops in New York and New Jersey.

First up, they’ll make a pit stop at Lewiston, NY’s Artpark Outdoor Amphitheater on Friday, July 19.

After that, the trio is slated to perform in Saratoga Springs on July 23, Bethel on July 24, Camden, NJ on July 26, Long Island’s Jones Beach Theater on July 27 and Syracuse on July 31.

Finally, they’ll chug into Holmdel, NJ’s PNC Bank Arts Center on Thursday, Aug. 1.

And if you can’t wait to hear “Can’t Fight This Feeling” and “Hey, Soul Sister” this summer, you can pick up tickets to hear the legendary groups live as soon as today.

The soft rockin’ group formed in Atlanta in 2007 and is made up of members from Y-O-U, which disbanded in the mid-aughts.

Their origin story is a unique one; Peter Olson, Nicholas Niespodziani, Mark Cobb, Greg Lee, Mark Bencuya, Mark Dannells, and David Freeman ironically performed soft rock covers at a local club and that turned into a weekly residency.

At live shows, expect to hear thier renditions of crowd-pleasing classics by iconic acts like Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Toto, ABBA, James Taylor, Steely Dan and many more ’70s and ’80s heroes.

Everything you need to know about the X Games in Ventura this week

This weekend, Ventura becomes home to the X Games for a second year, drawing some of the biggest names in skateboarding, BMX and Moto X.

The competition is expected to bring tens of thousands to the seaside Ventura County Fairgrounds from Friday to Sunday. Whether you’re heading there, watching from afar or looking for ways to celebrate for free, here’s what you need to know.

What to expect

The three-day competition runs from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Sunday. 

Events include park, street, vert and best trick competitions for skateboarding; park, street and dirt for BMX; and best trick, quarterpipe high air and best whip Moto X.

How to get to there

No parking will be available at the fairgrounds. But free shuttles will take people from spots in Ventura and Oxnard to the X Games.

Take a shuttle for free:

Shuttles are expected to run from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at park and ride from locations in Ventura and Oxnard.

• De Anza Middle School, 2060 Cameron St., Ventura.
• Pacific View Mall, 3350 Telegraph Road, Ventura.
• Ventura County Government Center, 800 S. Victoria Ave., Ventura.
• Oxnard High School, 3400 W. Gonzales Road, Oxnard.

Park at San Buenaventura State Beach, 901 San Pedro St. in Ventura, for $10 and ride for free. But the gates lock at 11 p.m. at the state beach parking.

Take the train:

• Amtrak Pacific Surfliner has a stop steps from the fairgrounds. X Games passengers also can receive 15% discounts. More information:  amtrak.com/pacific-surfliner-x-games .
• The Metrolink commuter service will take people to the fairgrounds stop Saturday and Sunday. Day passes on Saturday and Sunday cost $10. Children 17 and younger with a fare-paying adult can ride for free on Saturday and Sunday.

Take the bus:

The Ventura County Transportation Commission will extend its bus routes and anyone 18 and under rides for free. More information is available at  goventura.org/xgames .

• Routes 101 and 126 will be extended to Thompson Boulevard and Figueroa Street in Ventura. The Coastal Express route will stop at Thompson and Figueroa instead of Santa Clara and Oak streets.
• Route 101, which normally operates Monday to Saturday, will be extended to Sunday for the X Games.

Ride a bike or skateboard:

Bike Ventura will run a free bike or skateboard valet , located at the entrance to the Games. People who drop off their bike or board will be given a claim ticket.

How to buy tickets to the X Games

Get information or buy tickets online at xgames.com/events/x-games-ventura-2024/tickets . General admission tickets start at $61. Children under 6 get in for free.

Tickets also can be purchased at the fairgrounds. But same-day tickets are expected to sell out quickly.

What is the music lineup?

Hip-hop artist Wiz Khalifa and electronic performer Kaskade are set to headline the music lineup. Other performers and a schedule is available at xgames.com/events/x-games-ventura-2024/music .

What can you do for free?

Skate and create: A kids' skateboarding and art jam will start at 4 p.m. Thursday. Children ages 5 to 10 can skate in a mini park and create their own T-shirts and skateboard decks on California Street just below Main Street. Organizers say to bring your own skate gear or borrow some there.

Join a skate jam: Bring your own board to an all ages skate jam from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday on California Street near Main Street in downtown Ventura.

Watch a light show: A series of drone shows is planned for this week. On Wednesday, watch the show from the lawn at the Ventura Harbor starting around 9 p.m.

Two shows are scheduled for Thursday night starting at 8:45 p.m. and 10 p.m. The best spot to watch is downtown Ventura near the California and Main streets intersection.

Friday and Saturday shows start at 8:45 p.m. at the fairgrounds.

How to stream the X Games
