Do you own or manage this property?
Campers are saying.
Lee Hi Campground, near Lexington, Virginia, is a practical stop for travelers looking to recharge during their journeys. This spot offers pull-through sites with full hookups, making it easy for RVers to settle in without the hassle of unhitching.
The campground is located adjacent to a travel plaza, which means you’ll have access to amenities like showers and laundry facilities. Visitors have mentioned that it’s a decent place for a quick overnight stay, especially if you need to top off on power and water. One camper noted, “We stopped here for a rest on a long trip... Perfect.”
While it’s not a destination for extended vacations, it serves well for those just passing through. The noise from trucks can be a factor, but many find it to be a manageable background hum. If you’re looking for a simple place to rest your head before hitting the road again, Lee Hi Campground fits the bill.
Lee Hi Campground is located in Virginia

A situation-dependent stopover
For $43.24 we got a pull through site with full hookups. However, we had to disconnect shore power because we kept tripping the 50A service even when we turned our draw down to 30A. As we head into 2 weeks of sewerless sites, this made sense for us to stop, shower, laundry, and top up on power and water. If you don’t have that sort of limitation ahead, this gas station truck stop likely isn’t worth your money.
Below Average
First, it’s difficult to find and difficult to call for directions if the one clerk in the truck stop office is busy, which is most of the time. Yes, it is full hookup and many sites are pull through. But, there’s truck noise all night which resembles a train that never stops.
Great overnight stop
We stopped here for a rest on a long trip. Arrived late, had reserved a pull through site with FHU, so we didn’t have to unhitch. Perfect.

Not a vacation place more of a overnight passing through thing
I do not reccomend this place for extended stay. It is not very pleasant. It is a truck stop so expect truckers and using same showers as them. It has “residents” who live in campers here. But it will do for passing through and a just a place to rest for the night. No amenities other than WiFi in truck stop and electric hookups
Great little rest stop
Cheap price for a good place to park with electric/water and a bathhouse
Easy one night stay
This was the ONLY place that would allow a one night stay on Memorial Day weekend, which we needed (as we were just passing through).
We reserved a pull-through site (42) with 30/50amp and water. Check in is at the fuel desk at the travel plaza (which has a chicken place and an IHOP inside as well).
The campground is small and overlooks the travel plaza. You can hear the trucks idling but it’s a white background noise. You can’t hear the highway, which is on the other side of the mountain in the back of the campground.
Restrooms were older but clean during our stay and a short walk from the camp site. There are no picnic tables or fire rings at the sites. Our site was gravel and level.
While this isn’t a destination place with tons to see and do at the campground itself, it’s a great place for a one night stop on the way to somewhere else (or even just a base camp to enjoy the local sites in Natural Bridge).

This campground is attached to a very large full service busy truck stop. It is very busy with 100's of 12 wheelers. The campground sites above it. The truck stop has a restaurant that is open 24/7/365 and is supposed to be pretty good. The sites are mostly level well spaced gravel sites cut out of the hillside. The restrooms were just OK and the showers again, just OK. It is OK for a one night stay. Be sure to go into Lexington, VA - a beautiful town with VMI and Washington & Lee universities.

Great stop for an overnight when traveling. They have 50 & 30 amp full hookups, 8 pull throughs and a bath house. It’s part of a truck stop with an IHOP full service station and repairs. The campground is up on a hill behind the truck parking area. If the campground is full they will let you boondock in the very large paved parking lot.

I have stayed here at least 4 nights, each stay one night.
Campground is on a hill well above the truck stop. I have been in several sites, all small. I have never reserved in advance, but even when "full", they have had sites that work for me (I have a van) .
If one can ignore the white noise of the trucks idling below, the campground is quiet and clean. Not fancy. Not pretty. But it feels safe.

This is a very convenient overnight stop - and some campers appear to be staying here longer as well. Heading South on I-81 got off Exit 195. Google maps indicated we would have to do a U-turn, but that was inaccurate. Large driveway on the left to enter Travel America truckstop...drove around the side to park and to walk to the rear entrance - fuel desk. Checked in quickly and drove back and to the right and up the hill into the campsites. TIP: The road in the back of the travel plaza that heads into campsites is one-lane and curved. Make sure no one else is using it when towing! Had pull-through site 46 and it was almost level - good enough - hooked up to W & E for the night. The place was jammed up with semi's at night and almost empty when we pulled out at 10am next morning. We camped at Lee Hi Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This review is for the Travel Plaza itself. The campground is behind the Travel Plaza. If you have the capability to boondock, this is an awesome stop. Several different parking lots, all paved. We opted for the parking lot in the rear and we got an end spot, put out our slides and ran our generator. Very quiet, clean and easy access from the highway.
Very very busy travel plaza. We did not visit any of the stores or restaurants.
Would suggest if you plan on boondocking to arrive mid afternoon to get the quietest spots. The campground has 40 sites and it looked fairly busy when we arrived.
We would definitely stay here again for free overnight!

This is right above the truck stop. I probably would have boondocked here, but we stayed in August and wanted to make sure we had plenty of AC. FHU, PT and a good place to refuel with diesel. The gas station looked cramped. Longer rigs who use gas might have a hard time maneuvering here. There are several old full time RV’s, but they were reasonably well maintained and quite. There were also several people there just for the night. The mountains were pretty and I caught a good sunset.

We stayed here again for a single night...had the whole pull-thru overnight area to ourselves. Site 46 was sloping a bit front to back and the gravel base has eroded. We really like this stopover due to it's proximity to fuel and the interstate...however we noticed there is some very very deep washouts along the gravel road in the pull-thru/campground sites numbered in the 40's... And if you tried driving in the dark and missed those huge ruts you could be in a pickle. Site 45 or 44 exhibited deep washouts all along the gravel pad...so be careful if you stay here. Hopefully the staff will fix it up soon.

Easy access to I-81 fhu overnight. There are permanent campers in all but 5 -7 sites but other than that it is great for making dinner & a sleep. Internet was great & were able to take a small walk and enjoy a nice sunset from the site.
