motorcycle tour bangkok

Many travelers know the broad strokes of Thailand’s capital city: the culture, the food, the temples. Getting below the surface of Bangkok can be hard in a city that moves so fast.

Best Bangkok tours , aside from having the best name in the business, is a great way to see the city the way the locals do: moving through traffic on the back of a motorbike. Their motorbike tour moves fast (but not too fast) so you can keep up with the pace of Bangkok and dive deep into the Big Mango.

Bangkok Tours: A Beginning

Riding on the back of a motorbike is one of those quintessential Thailand experiences. I was dead set against ever having to do it. Then one fateful day, Jen and I went to see a Muay Thai fight on our first Bangkok tour together in 2012.

We sat in the cheap seats of the bleachers and started placing bets. Jen bet that if she won, we would take motorbike taxis back to our hotel. And I bet that if I won, we would not do that. Jen knows how to pick a winner. That’s why she married me. And that’s how I learned that riding on the back of a motorbike is an experience not to be missed. Now, we motorbike all over Thailand!

Many travelers venture on a motorbike taxi once or twice for the novelty of it all. And most swear it off forever soon after because of the speed and abject terror of swerving through traffic.

The motorbike drivers for Best Bangkok Tours are local professionals and always drive at a reasonable speed. They make you feel safe so you can enjoy the ride and take pictures of all the beauty Bangkok has to offer. It’s amazing how much there is to see in Bangkok from the back of a motorbike when you can think about more than just holding on and surviving.

Best Bangkok tours takes you around the city the same way locals do it, on the back of a moto

Helmets are provided. And, before you ask, yes, all of them do say Pretty Lady on the back.

Our Bangkok Tour Guide and Stops Along the Way

Best Bangkok Tours offers three tour options including the Real Deal Tour, Eat and Ride Tour, and Drink and Ride Tour.

We were lucky to join the Real Deal Tour, which begins at your hotel or a nearby landmark. Austin, our friendly guide and the owner of Best Bangkok Tours, greeted us in front of our apartment building with two of his trusted motorbike drivers. The best motorbike drivers are always the older guys. They’ve been driving long enough and well enough to make it this far.

Austin is a veritable font of knowledge about all the inner workings of Bangkok. Names, dates, bridges, buildings, you name it, Austin knows the answer. And if he doesn’t, he knows where to find it. He would give us detailed explanations of landmarks and Thai culture as we waited for the traffic lights to change. W e were learning something new about the city before we even reached our next destination. Austin is also a volunteer tour leader at the Bangkok National Museum, so he knows his stuff!

motorcycle tour bangkok

This was no slouch of a Bangkok tour. We got to see a whole new side of the city that most tourists and even expats miss.

Most of the tour is done on the back of the motorbike, driving slowly (by Bangkok standards) through neighborhoods and seeing the hidden gems of Bangkok. There are plenty of stops during the tour to get off the motorbike and walk around to get a closer look at some of the city’s most interesting places.

Every tour may be different depending on what you want. If it’s your first time in the city you can request to visit some of the major landmarks in Bangkok. If you want something a bit different or off-the-beaten-path, Austin can arrange that too!

We are Bangkok veterans. We’ve been visiting the city together since 2012 and living here for a few months, so we’ve gotten lost in the sois many times. Luckily, we got to tour the city with our friend, South African comedian TsiTsi Chiumya . It was his first time in Bangkok, so Austin arranged a tour that was a mix of more well-known places and hidden gems.

It was also TsiTsi’s his first time on the back of a motorbike, which was pretty fun to watch. He was loving it by the end and it was great to have him on the tour with us! He had so many questions about the city that we should have known by now. Thank goodness we had him there to ask them for us!

During the tour, we covered a lot of ground. We took a short walking tour of Lumpini Park and gawked at the prehistoric-looking monitor lizards. Don’t worry, they’re more afraid of you than you are of them. I hope.

We stopped at the shrine at the entrance to Chinatown and wished for good luck. We took a slow drive through the heart of Chinatown to gaze at the neon signs and old architecture.

We also toured Bangkok’s largest flower market that sells a majority of the flowers that decorate the city’s hotels, businesses, and shrines.

Best Bangkok Tours' guide Austin knows everything there is to know about Bangkok

The flower market in Chinatown seems to be endless. Can you spot Stevo?

Austin told us that the flowers come directly from Chiang Mai and northern Thailand in the wee hours of the morning and that the market is at its busiest at 3 AM. When we arrived around 11 AM vendors were still wheeling and dealing in bags of flowers for temples, hotels, and offerings. Some vendors, though, had passed out at their stalls, taking a well deserved, very fresh smelling nap.

Austin gave us some insight into the inner workings of the offerings given to monks. The small offerings usually include a pinch of tobacco. Monks can smoke cigarettes? That’s one way to make the wheel of karma spin faster, I guess. The rest of the offerings, bananas, fruit, flowers, are usually shared with the community. But the smokes? The monks keep the smokes.

Best Bangkok Tours takes you to special, off-the-beaten path spots all over the city

Watching Thai soaps while prepping tiny bags of tobacco for offerings to the monks. All of those small bags are full of tobacco!

We rode down the first paved road in Thailand and stopped at a beautiful historic bank along the Chao Praya River.  We went through Little India, the metalworking district, residential neighborhoods, and the business district.

Later we drove down an alley with old shophouses and stopped by one in particular stuffed with boxes of goods piled from floor to ceiling. The older man inside has been selling bulk items inside his shop for over 30 years and still does all his bookkeeping by hand. Austin speaks Thai and has been riding and exploring Bangkok for years. He can tell you people’s stories, introduce you to locals, and ask questions in Thai if there’s anything you want to know.

motorcycle tour bangkok

Our final stop was at the reclining Buddha statue at Wat Pho, an important destination for Thai people who visit from all around the country, as well as tourists of all walks of life. There were some pretty obnoxious tourists inside taking Snapchat videos while local people were trying to pray. Not that you would do that, but remember to act with respect whenever entering a temple in Thailand.

You Gotta Stay Loose!

The beauty of Best Bangkok Tours is its flexibility. The tour is fungible for its audience. Do you want to go to more temples? You’ll go to more temples. Do you want to try some of the local cuisines? Food tour it is. Being able to go where you want and learn what you’re interested in makes the tour more enjoyable. And it also means you can go on the tour more than once and learn more about Bangkok every time.

To celebrate the end of our Bangkok day tour, we went to Polo Fried Chicken, one of our favorite chicken joints in the city. We talked about life in the big city and adventures we had had.

Best Bangkok tours is the most fun way to see the Big Mango

TsiTsi, Jen, Khun Yaa (Mr. Medicine), and Austin celebrating another Bangkok tour well done.

The goal of the excursion is to show Bangkok for all of its worth and history. The main question that Best Bangkok Tours wants you to ask yourself by the end of the journey is “could I picture myself living here in Bangkok? ”

After exploring different neighborhoods of the city, into the alleyways and small sois, peeling back the layers of mystery, you’ll find that each neighborhood in Bangkok is a city unto itself which means Bangkok is infinitely explorable.

Best Bangkok Tours gave us a new respect and adoration for a city that we have loved for many years. If you want to learn more about Bangkok and see the parts of the city less traveled, hop on the back of a motorbike with Best Bangkok Tours and prepare to be amazed.

Note : We were invited as guests on this tour. These are our honest opinions about the tour, and we’re happy to answer any questions you might have.

I’m not keen to get on a motorbike anywhere in Asia, but it sounds like this tour company is the way to go if it’s something you do want to experience. I’d be interested in the food tour. I find all the street food just totally overwhelming, so a local guiding which stalls to try would be great.

Riding on a motorbike isn’t for everybody, but if you have even the slightest desire to try it, going with Best Bangkok Tours would be a great introduction. There is so much good food to try in Bangkok, but I get what you mean about it being overwhelming. Food tours are always great for that reason!

Oh, I’d love to do this but I’m not sure if I’d want to be on the back of a motorcycle. As an owner of a motorcycle, I’d rather much ride on my own. However, I heard it takes a different type of skill to ride a bike there. Lol

November 28, 2018 at 7:41 pm

So cool that you own a motorcycle! We ride motorbikes in smaller cities in Asia, but I’m honestly not sure if I’d ever want to drive in Bangkok! Maybe riding on the back of another motorbike first would be good to get a sense of how the driving is there, and then move on to riding on your own. 🙂

November 27, 2018 at 6:38 pm

Haha, funny that the best drivers are older – makes perfect sense though! I just love how flexible the tour is, really makes it enjoyable to be able to see whatever you WANT to! And big ups for conquering your fear 😀 The whole experience sounds fantastic 😁

That sounds like a really great tour, although somewhat terrifying. We lived in China for a year and decided after seeing the motor bikes wind through traffic, that we would stay off of them. I’m glad your drivers were better. I really love that you can request exactly what you want to see and that they will create a tour just for you. That’s so perfect.

November 27, 2018 at 8:32 am

It really is! They know Bangkok so well and you are guaranteed to get a unique tour and learn a lot of interesting info about the city along the way!

I knew Chiang Mai had a big flower market but never knew Bangkok had one too! I love traveling slow and at my own pace in a city too, exploring beyond a mere checklist, and motorbiking seems like the perfect way to explore Bangkok slowly!

November 26, 2018 at 3:32 pm

This tour is a great way to explore the city and cover a lot more ground than you could on public transportation or walking!

I love Bangkok and try to visit it every year. Mostly for the food and in fact I’m heading there next month! 😍 I didn’t know that Bangkok have this motorbike tour. It surely a fun way to explore the sois (but I’ll be nervous too in the middle of the traffic). I would really love to join the motorbike food tour next time. I’m sure Austin will share some hidden gems along the way. Thanks for sharing this! 😍

November 26, 2018 at 3:35 pm

We love the food in Bangkok!! It’s one of our favorite things about living here. We’ve heard great things about the food tour and will probably try that one next! 😀 Hope you enjoy your visit to Bangkok! If you have any questions about the city feel free to shoot us an email or get in touch on Facebook or Instagram. http://www.facebook.com/twocantravel @two_can_travel

Definitely an interesting way to explore more of Bangkok. I took motor taxi in a lot of countries around the globe and most of the time I did not like it, because the drivers a careless and too fast. So, on a first glimpse I thought “Nothing I would like to do”. But reading on I realized that the drivers of Best Bangkok Tours are specialists and care about the wishes of the customers. So, yes I think I would like to do a tour with them.

November 26, 2018 at 3:36 pm

We totally understand that fear. Honestly, some of the regular motorbike taxi drivers with the orange vests can be quite reckless. The drivers from Best Bangkok Tours have your safety as their primary concern and they take great care of you. We definitely recommend this tour if you have the chance to come to Bangkok!

Looks like a great way to explore Bangkok. Love exploring cities in a different way

November 26, 2018 at 3:41 pm

It’s definitely different! We especially recommend Best Bangkok Tours if you are just on a short trip and want to get a good overview of the city and cover a lot of ground.

Motorcyclist in Thailand

Thailand is one of the most desirable countries for tourists coming out of the pandemic.

It’s expected that 2023 will see  over 25 million visitors  in Thailand. Whether you’re looking to lounge on its countless beaches, explore the world-class cities of Bangkok and Chiang Mai, or take to the roads on a motorcycle, there’s no shortage of natural beauty and culture in this amazing country.

Today, we’re going to tell you the 7 best motorcycle riding routes in Thailand. Believe it or not, Thailand motorcycle routes are some of the best in the world, so keep reading and we’ll give you all of the top motorcycle riding paths to enjoy.

1. Doi Inthanon

Our motorcycle adventures range from single-day trips to weeks-long trips that take you everywhere. The first one we’ll discuss is the  Doi Inthanon , which is a single-day, 230km trip.

We’ll start the trip in Chiang Mai, then ride south to the national park. The trip takes you through winding mountain paths to the highest peak in Thailand, at over 2,500 meters above sea level.

2. Nan Loop

The  Nan Loop  takes you through some of Thailand’s most ancient sites. This 3-day ride is over 800km and puts you on the famous R1148, which is ranked as one of the top 10 motorcycle roads in the world.

3. Mae Hong Son Loop

For a fantastic 3-day trip, the Mae Hong Son Loop gives you a full tour of Thailand’s mountainous provinces. You’ll avoid any semblance of city traffic while riding along the Myanmar border with perfect tarmac motorcycle riding paths and panoramic views of the high mountain scenery.

4. Magical Golden Triangle

Visiting the Golden Triangle , you’ll get to see where Thailand, Laos, and Burma meet at the Mekong River. Along the way, you’ll get to take in the mountains of Doi Mae Salong, Doi Tung Royal Villa, and Phayao.

5. Bo Klua Loop

Bo Klua is a small village in the Nan province that houses ancient salt wells. The route around Bo Klua takes you through a mountainous region with plenty of sweeping curves with ups and downs.

It’s an exciting road to ride on, but the highland scenery is about as breathtaking as you’ll see in Thailand.

6. Hidden Western Route (Pai Loop)

The Hidden Western Route takes you northwest from Chiang Mai to Pai on Routes 1349 & 1265 via Ban Wat Chan. This takes you through even more stunning mountain scenery and countless tiny villages along the way.

Pai Canyon is a great place to stop and take in the peaks and valleys in the area. While you’re there, you can also relax and enjoy the Pai hot springs before getting back on your bike and continuing the journey.

7. Khao Sok National Park Road

Khao Sok National Park  is home to one of the oldest evergreen forests in the world. There, you’ll see limestone mountains, hundreds of floral species, wild elephants, and other gorgeous wildlife that you can’t see anywhere else in the world.

Seeing these natural wonders via motorcycle is the best way, allowing you to get up close and personal with nature and wildlife.

How our rating system works →

IMTBIKE ROUTE rating

It is essential to know the different skill levels needed to participate in the IMTBIKE TOURS that are offered to you. IMTBIKE makes sure that it offers different tours for all riding styles and levels. The IMTBIKE team always works diligently in designing our routes. This is a laborious process which entails reviewing all road choices before selecting the best option for an IMTBIKE tour.

The most experienced motorcyclists looks for roads that require technical skill; narrow twisty roads with little traffic and endless curves. But these same roads would be too difficult for a less experienced rider.

The local driving habits, the amount of traffic, the asphalt quality and the radius of the curves vary considerably from country to country and even in different regions of the same country. They will also vary depending on the season of the year. All of these factors have been studied by IMTBIKE and have been taken into consideration when rating our tours.

IMTBIKE thinks it is also important to know about the different types of roads you will be enjoying on your tour. To understand the road types easier, IMTBIKE has divided them into two categories, and we have calculated an approximate percentage of each on all of our tours.

  • TOURING ROADS: These are wider roads comprised mainly of larger radius sweepers. They are still curvy roads but not tight mountainous twisty curves. Please remember that you will ride very few straight roads on IMTBIKE tours!
  • CHALLENGING ROADS: These are roads that are tight twisty turns which require more technical skill. Many times they will be narrower roads without a shoulder and sometimes with steep inclines or descents. Normally they will be mountainous roads accompanied by spectacular sceneries.

If you have never ridden a motorcycle outside of your country, or if you have little experience riding on mountain roads with many curves, we recommend that you choose a tour rated moderate or intermediate. If you have any questions or doubts please do not hesitate to call or email us. We are always happy to answer your questions to make sure that you choose the best tour for your riding level.

This route offers wider sweeping turns that are easy to maneuver. This route may have some tighter turns in a few places but this will be the exception. Regardless, even on moderate tours you must be able to ride a large cylinder motorcycle in any condition. Never plan to learn how to ride a motorcycle on an IMTBIKE tour. We recommend having a minimum of 8.000 km (5.000 miles) of experience riding a large cylinder motorcycle to participate on a MODERATE rated IMTBIKE Tour and you should ride a motorcycle on a regular basis at home.

Intermediate

This route rating can have sections of very twisty curves on narrow roads with no center line to divide the road. There will also wider radius curves on these routes. Traffic conditions can be intense at times in some urban environments and the local driving habits may seem aggressive and unpredictable to you. It is imperative that you are an experienced motorcyclist. We recommend that you have a minimum of 12.000 km (7500 miles) of large cylinder motorcycle experience to participate on a INTERMEDIATE rated IMTBIKE Tour and you should ride a motorcycle on a regular basis at home.

This route rating has long sections of technical narrow twisty roads and sometimes single lane roads. These twisty roads will often be in mountains where steep inclines and descents will be commonplace. Some riding days can be long and challenging. Traffic conditions can be intense at times in some urban environments and the local driving habits may seem aggressive and unpredictable to you. It is imperative that you are a very experienced motorcyclist on a large cylinder motorcycle. We recommend that you have a minimum of 16.000 km (10.000 miles) of large cylinder motorcycle experience on an ADVANCE rated IMTBIKE Tour and of course you should ride a motorcycle on a regular basis at home.

IMTBIKE Average Daily Riding Hours

5 to 7 hours 6 to 8 hours 7 to 9 hours

How many hours a day you ride on a tour is important information in helping you decide on the right IMTBIKE tour for you. Some tour members want to ride as many hours as possible everyday, while others prefer to stop more frequently and dedicate more time to enjoying the scenery, visiting cultural sights and arrive at the hotel earlier to relax before dinner. The daily riding hours are calculated including the coffee breaks and photo stops but they do not include the time taken for lunch.

Normally we’ll start our riding day at 9:30am and we will take about a one hour lunch break sometime between 1pm and 2pm. So if the daily riding hours for a given tour are 5-7, then you will arrive at the hotel between 3:30pm- 5:30pm depending on the average speed of the group.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS SAY

Don’t take our word for it, our customers speak for us.

Giles and his team hit the spot. I was looking for a near impossible adventure in Sanclaburi, not only did Motorbike Madness make it happen, they took me to places even I’d never heard of and tested my abilities to the max. No detail was missed from the prepping of the bike to the meticulous itinerary. I was always in the loop. Thank you so much to all !

Adrian Lambert testimonial

Adrian Lambert

What an amazing experience, I’m Thai and think I know about my country. Motorbike Madness knows more than me I can say for sure. I think this company is world-class, very hard to find this level of professionalism in Thailand unfortunately. My staff never experienced anything like this before. We have annual team-building events, but this tour was on entirely another level. My staff were pushed very hard but at no time did they feel in danger. The tour guides were obviously very experienced. We will book again next year. Many Thanks.

Wattana Traidee testimonial

Wattana Traidee

I feel so lucky that I chose Motorbike Madness as one of my tours whilst in Thailand. I tried a dirt bike tour in Cambodia and enjoyed it very much. I thought it was a very well-done tour, that was until Motorbike Madness. In Cambodia, we simply put on knee and arm pads, got on the bike, and got going. I was shocked at what a difference this tour was. I was firstly given a full safety brief and then kitted out with top-quality full off-road clothing, substantial gloves, and boots, full padded protection from head to toe. The bike was chosen specifically for my height and riding ability. We then spent 15 minutes on their custom onsite track where I gained valuable riding skills, and boy did I need them. The country road and scenery were incredible, every new turn was a sight to be remembered. I really didn’t think I could do it, but the staff were so helpful and encouraging that I amazed myself. Easily the best tour I did in Thailand. Truly professional.

Emma James testimonial

I just wanted to say a big thank you to Giles and his team at Motorcycle Madness. My family was blown away with the whole day. From start to finish we were looked after by guides who really knew their stuff. We were so impressed with the size of this tour, we had no idea the day was going to take us so far, and the scenery was spectacular from the top of Pattaya’s hills. But most impressive of all were the bikes, clothing, and equipment. It’s clear that years of constant refining have made this tour a near-perfect adventure. Five stars in all categories. Looking forward to another tour.

Experience Premier Guided Motorcycle Tours in Thailand

We know what you want – great roads, no traffic, no speed cams and stunning scenery. well, with a combined thailand riding experience of over 40 years among our british motorcycle guides, we consider ourselves the best company offering guided motorcycle tours in thailand so we can deliver all that and more, forget the temples (ok, we’ll throw in a few special ones), our asian motorcycle tours are about the roads, not traipsing around conventional tourist spots in hot riding gear., add in quality accommodations and delicious food and we can confidently guarantee to give you an absolutely wonderful and unforgettable motorcycle holiday, check out our testimonials to see what previous clients have to say then scroll down and contact us., why choose us for motorcycle tours in thailand.

Because simply put, through our history in the region, we believe we offer the best combination of value and riding experience for Guided Motorcycle Tours in Thailand!

Both lifelong riders, as of 2024, Jeff and Duncan have a combined total riding experience in the area of almost 40 years and are ready to share their accumulated local knowledge with YOU.

We also both have long term Thai partners whom are licenced by The Tourist Authority of Thailand as official Tour Guides, thus keeping everything legal and above board. Through them we have completely immersed ourselves in the native cuisine, language and culture which totally enhances your time with us. We also benefit from the availability of a third British rider and his Thai wife guide who bring another 15+ years of Thailand riding experience to the company. A point to note is that unlike some other “big bike” touring companies, you will always be accompanied by a native English speaker plus a Thai guide so there’ll be no language confusion or issues.

We believe that you’ve earned your break and that your time with us should be hassle and worry free so our bikes are in tip-top condition and only use quality consumables such as Pirelli or Metzeler tyres, EBC brake pads and RK or DID chains. Accommodations are generally of 3 star plus and most have pools and are conveniently located if we are staying in town. We’ll take care of you without cossetting you as we know motorcyclists generally value their independence, but we are able and willing to help if or when necessary.

You’ll also notice that our tour offerings are somewhat limited if you put us up against our competitors in the region. We see this as an advantage as we have chosen to specialise and get to know Thailand, Laos and Myanmar extensively rather than spread ourselves thinly in the quest for growth by sub-contracting out tours and therefore losing the opporunity to oversee the quality being delivered. “Small is beautiful” as the saying goes. It also means that we can react quickly to requests without waiting for a reaction from a chain of command or dismissing it as it’s not on our regular tour menu.

If this has done enough to entice you further, please use the contact form below to get in touch and we can arrange a video chat via WhatsApp or one of the other social media platforms so as we can answer any questions you may have and prepare you for an amazing motorcycling experience!

Tour Overview

Thailand is a wondrous country featuring Buddhist temples, exotic wildlife, and spectacular islands. With a fascinating history and a unique culture, the tourist industry has boomed. However, if you think Thailand is all about Bangkok, Phuket bars and clubs, think again!

Get away from the tourist hot spots on our Thailand motorcycle tour, and you will find a rural heartland, a mix of rice paddies, tropical forests and squat villages tied to the agricultural clock. But more than this is the Thai people who have earned the country the reputation as the “land of smiles”.

Fly into Bangkok and you will be met at the airport and transferred to Amphawa. After collecting the bikes and attending the pre tour briefing you can enjoy the welcome dinner. Your first day of riding is high on excitement with a packed itinerary. En route you will visit a floating market and then on to Kanchana Buri scene of the Bridge on the River Kwai. You will visit the new bridge and can see some of the structures built by the prisoners of war which still support the railways today, before a night in our hotel of the banks of the River Kwai.

Your second day picks up just where the first left off! Starting with an elephant ride through the forest we then head north visiting Hellfire Pass and the museum of the same name. Hellfire was the scene of some of the worst suffering when the railways were built and the museum commemorates those who lost their lives here. In the evening wander the Mon Bridge and take a long tail boat ride to the Sunken Temple “Wat Saam Prasob”. If this is not enough then there is a chance to ride to the Three Pagodas Pass where Thailand and Myanmar (Burma) meet.

The following days meander through Kamphangphet and Pitsanulok provinces with the first taste of the mountain roads that await later, en route to Nakhon Sawan and the UNSECO listed Sukhothai. An early afternoon arrival leaves time to visit the park and the ruins of the ancient Sukhothai Kingdom. Dating back to the 12th century, once the capital, over 190 temples have been excavated here. Your hotel is just five minutes from the park and you can ride in or take the regular shuttle bus.

Heading north you will ride into the Thai Highlands. These mountains stretch through Laos and Myanmar linking to the Himalayas. They make for fantastic riding as you climb up to 2000m through tropical forest and you will get to ride the beautiful Mae Sod Mountain road. After a night spent near the Myanmar border (with the chance to pop across and get another stamp in your passport) you continue north to the Nam Ngao National Park with its many waterfalls. Tonight you are staying in the River House in Mae Sariang.

More challenging winding mountain roads await as you ride part of the road of 1864 bends en route to Mae Hong Son. In the afternoon you will take a Long Tailed Boat on the Pai River to “Ban Nam Piang Dinto” the Karen Tribe Long Neck Village. Traditionally the ladies of the tribe wear gold rings around their necks to make their necks look longer and them more attractive. Although traditional, each girl can now chose whether to follow the tradition or not. The following day is a riding day you will never forget. The road of 1864 curves. A seemingly endless procession of bends on a road cut through tropical jungle and over mountains. We divert off on side roads to the Pang Tong Royal Palace, a Royal Project and Reservoir before riding on through the Tam Pla National Park to the Tham Pi Man Jabo Cave with it 1700 year old teak coffins. Arriving at Pai you will be pleased to know that tomorrow is a day off with a chance to explore this bustling slightly hippy town or just lounge by the hotel pool.

Heading further north you visit the Angkhang Royal Project as we ride some of the best mountains routes in the world. Twisting and turning, climbing and descending harder and sharper than almost anything in Europe or the Americas these routes are a bikers paradise. Don’t forget to stop and enjoy the scenery though! After a night in Doi Tung you can visit “Srinagaringdra” the former residence of the Late King’s Mother and the Doi Tung Gardens. Turning south with only two days remaining you will be riding through the infamous Golden Triangle home to Opium producers for centuries and along the banks of the mighty Mekong river separating Thailand from Laos. Then all to soon you will be heading for Chiang Rai and our farewell dinner.

PLEASE NOTE:  With so much to see and do along our route in Thailand there will be an element of group riding required to ensure that we arrive together at certain times. However you will always have the option to ride independently if you chose.

What our clients say

Endurance Motorcycle Tour -Thailand I wish I could give them 6 stars. I rented a bike from Gwyn intending to do an endurance ride that nobody thought was possible. He jumped in and gave me all the help I wanted and more. The bike prep was outstanding and their attention to details was beyond what I knew I needed. Pattaya Motorcycle tours is the only outfitter in Thailand to ever prep a bike that has completed an Iron Butt ride in Thailand. I was the rider. I can’t wait to go back and tour with them again. I think I’ll bring some buddies with me next time.

Motorcycle Rider in Thailand

Absolutely fantastic! The bikes are well maintained and well loved. Gwyn and his beautiful and highly capable wife, Pond are amazing! Very lovely, friendly, accommodating, helpful and experienced. I couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to bigger bikes. They were always looking out for your well being, they ensured that your safety and comfort is paramount and yet that you had a great time. They took the pictures which I wanted but just didn’t do.Knowledgeable and adventurous guides who 100% loves what they are doing. I will recommend them time and time again!!

Adventure Motorcycle Girl Thailand

Pattaya Motorcycle Tours was AMAZING! Hands down, the best part of my trip! I wish I could travel the entire country with them! Their bikes are awesome and very well taken care of. They know their way around very well. I got to see parts of Thailand I would have not seen without the tour and the knowledge of both Sasithorn and Gwyn. They were so much fun to hang with, they made me feel like a friend they’ve known for years. Safety was a huge concern of mine and they made me feel completely worry free (even as a very new rider). I would highly recommend them and would go visit Thailand with the sole intention of motorcycling with them again on a long trip.

Motorcycle Girl Thailand

Tourism uptick expected to lift motorcycle sales

PUBLISHED : 2 Sep 2024 at 09:11

WRITER: Lamonphet Apisitniran

People examine the latest model of motor bikes showcased at Motor Show 2024. Pattarapong Chatpattarasill

A more active tourism sector later this year is expected to lift the domestic motorcycle market, which struggled with sluggish sales during the first seven months of 2024, says the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).

The number of foreign tourist arrivals continues to increase and should reach the target of 36.7 million this year, which will drive up motorcycle demand in the country, said Surapong Paisitpatanapong, vice-chairman of the FTI and spokesman for its Automotive Industry Club.

He said earlier tourism activities are one factor that increases motorcycle production, as many foreign tourists enjoy riding a motorcycle when visiting the country.

However, the motorcycle industry also needs support measures to increase sales, said Mr Surapong.

"We hope the new government will build confidence among entrepreneurs by launching new economic stimulus measures," he said.

Mr Surapong said government efforts to speed up budget spending for fiscal 2024 is another factor that could bolster the economy, which has recorded slow growth this year.

In the first quarter of 2024, Thai GDP growth was only 1.5%, rising to 2.3% in the second quarter, according to the National Economic and Social Development Council.

This growth was primarily driven by tourism and domestic demand, though private consumption is expected to slow after a period of strong growth, according to Piti Disyatat, secretary of the Bank of Thailand's Monetary Policy Committee (MPC).

The MPC expects the Thai economy to continue growing in the second half of this year, with a growth rate of around 3% projected for the third quarter and 4% in the fourth quarter.

With improved economic prospects, the Automotive Industry Club maintained Thailand's motorcycle manufacturing target at 2.12 million units for 2024 despite a slowdown in the first seven months, said Mr Surapong.

From January to July, total production decreased by 8.3% year-on-year to 1.37 million units, in line with the 9.8% year-on-year drop in domestic sales to 1.03 million units.

Domestic sales of internal combustion engine-powered motorcycles, which comprised more than 99% of total sales, decreased by 9.7% year-on-year, while electric motorcycle sales fell by 9% to 200 units during the first seven months of the year.

The club partly attributed the decrease to banks' stricter criteria in granting auto loans amid the high level of household debt.

Thailand's motorcycle exports also declined between January and July.

Export volume decreased by 10.1% year-on-year to 473,075 units as neighbouring countries are producing motorcycles, replacing imports from Thailand.
