Our bracelets are available in various lengths. Of note, your selection will affect the price because we want to make sure you only pay for what you order – metal and diamonds. For example, the longer the bracelet, the more metal and diamonds we use and therefore the price will be higher. Shorter lengths will reduce the price since we use less metal and diamonds.

ADJUSTMENTS AFTER PURCHASE

If you need to adjust the bracelet length after purchase, please contact us and we will be happy to take care of that for you. Of note, if we need to lengthen the bracelet, we will charge you for the price difference since we need to add metal and diamonds. Alternately, if we need to shorten the bracelet, we will refund you for the cost of the metal and diamonds we remove.

BRACELET LOCKS

Our tennis bracelets feature one of two types of double security locks – either an Under Clasp or a Figure 8 (Side Clasp). These specially designed locks with double security mechanisms ensure your diamond bracelet stays securely on your wrist.

To open and fasten your bracelet, follow the directions below. We recommend asking someone to help you if you need it – it is easier to fasten and open a bracelet lock with assistance.

Using the Under-Clasp Security Feature

To securely fasten the bracelet:

• 1 Press down on the tab on the side of the under-clasp to open and make sure it is completely loose.
• 2 Insert the male end/tongue of the lock into the female end until you hear a clicking noise. You should not be able to open the bracelet once you have heard this clicking sound.
• 3 Secure the under-clasp part by snapping it shut. You will hear another clicking sound.

To open the bracelet:

• 1 Unhook the under-clasp portion until it is completely open and loose.
• 2 Apply medium pressure to the push-button on the side of the clasp while gently pulling the two ends of the bracelet lock apart.

Using the Figure 8 / Side-Safety Security Feature

• 1 Insert the male end/tongue of the lock into the female end until you hear a clicking noise. You should not be able to open the bracelet once you have heard this clicking sound.
• 2 Secure the Figure 8 / Side-Safety clasp by snapping it shut over the knob.
• 1 Lift the Figure 8/Side-Safety until it unhooks from the knob.
• 2 Apply medium pressure to the push button on the side of the clasp while gently pulling the two ends of the bracelet lock apart.

THIRD PARTY CERTIFICATE -IGI

FJP issues a free Certificate of Authenticity for each diamond jewelry order. If you require a third-party certificate, you have the option of purchasing one from the International Gemological Institute (IGI). To add a certificate to any order, simply click the checkbox on the product configuration under the diamond quality section. FJP will send the jewelry item to the IGI on your behalf and have the jewelry item appraised and certified. Adding a third party appraisal typically adds 5 business days to the estimated delivery date shown on our website. Once the IGI has completed the jewelry inspection and printed the appraisal, FJP will notify you via email that your package has been shipped. All certified orders include the jewelry, IGI certificate, and standard documents issued by FJP.

INTERNATIONAL GEMOLOGICAL INFORMATION

International Gemological Information, a division of IGI was established in New York in 1981, as a source for unbiased appraisals of gems and jewelry. IGI is totally independent of all commercial sales organizations and does not trade in diamonds or precious stones. Thus, IGI is able to provide independent, accurate appraisals and identification reports.

APPRAISAL REPORTS

IGI’s Certificate provides a description of the gem of article of jewelry - its identification, weight, measurements, shape, cut, finish, proportions, clarity, color, and when appropriate, the quantity of precious stones. Also included are the identification, content and weight of precious metals. To further identify the item, an enlarged color photograph showing the details – and in the case of diamonds, a diagram indicating inclusions if any – is also provided (.95 ct. and above).

Consumers, retailers, jewelers, insurance companies, public accountants, financial planners, commercial banks and estate executors are assured of the most reliable and accurate gemological appraisal reports available today, thanks to IGI’s advanced technology and superior expertise in the field of gems and jewelry.

After you receive your IGI appraisal report with your jewelry item, you can verify it online. Click here to verify your report. The IGI also offers updated appraisal reports. To obtain an update on your original IGI appraisal, simply visit http://www.igionline.com . Click on Online Services and then Report Update to fill out an ’online report request’. SUMMATION OF APPRAISALS (S.O.A.)

The S.O.A. will summarize pertinent gemological factors with regard to an article of jewelry. Each article of jewelry is independently examined by experience graduate gemologists working in unison with certified, accredited gem and jewelry appraisers. These gemological factors include the authenticity and weight of the precious metals, identification and the quality of diamonds and gemstones.

A color photo of the article of jewelry is also indicated with each summation. IGI’s seal of inspection will be attached to each article of jewelry appraised and upon request the unique S.O.A. report number and IGI logo will be engraved into the shank of the ring for identification purposes.

IGI’s Summation of Appraisal is available in several formats. The computer generated micro-cert format fits perfectly into IGI’s new Appraisal Summary. This credit card format is available in a passport holder or an IGI box as well.

Returning an item that was purchased with an IGI Certificate:

FJP issues a free Certificate of Authenticity for each diamond jewelry order. FJP allows you to add to your order and purchase a third party certificate from the International Gemological Institute (IGI). Purchasing a third party IGI jewelry certificate is an optional feature. The exact cost of the certificate is shown while customizing each product, on the shopping cart, and on your invoice. Note that FJP does not refund the cost of the certificate in case of a return.

A spectacular Russian 14k yellow gold long chain from the Romanov era, period of Tsar Nicholas II, of classic inspiration designed as a series of interconnected round links, each comprising six conjoined round loops.

Moscow, 1908-17.

54 in. (137.2 cm.) long including swivel clasp.

The French call this type of link “le mille anneaux” (a thousand links) but typically each link only consists of up to five conjoined loops rather than six as we see here. This is very unusual. As the links are set at slight angles to each other the design produces a  rich three-dimensional effect.

A Glimpse into the Past

It was October 22, 1936, when Major Orlov 1 , in collaboration with Juan Negrin, the then Minister of Finance of Republican Spain, began loading the country’s gold onto the ships Kine , Neva , Kursk , and Volgoles in the port of Cartagena, destined for Odessa. 2 With Franco’s Army of Africa just 115 kilometers from Madrid in the summer of 1936, the Republican leadership decided to hide the country’s gold reserves, the fourth largest in the world at that time, by initially transferring them to the fortified coastal town of Cartagena, away from the Nationalists.

However, at the suggestion of Stashevsky, the Soviet trade attaché in Madrid, Negrin had already decided to send the gold and precious stones of the country out of Spain, without informing the cabinet of the destination. For the loading of the gold, Orlov had received from Colonel Krovozein, commander of an armored “brigade” that had disembarked in Cartagena just two weeks earlier, 20 trucks and personnel. Locals were not used because the Republican leadership believed that if it became apparent to the Spaniards that Russians were taking the country’s gold, it would lead to a civil war within the civil war. All transactions, counting, and clandestine movement of gold were, of course, done with the full cooperation of the well-known communist, Dolores Ibaruri.

The loading of the spanish gold (Oro de Moscú) took three nights, and on October 25, the four ships set sail for Odessa, always under the fear of German air strikes. By November 2, the Kine , Neva , and Volgoles had reached the USSR, with the Kursk following two days later. The operation was accompanied by four Spanish officials sent by the Republicans. As the gold arrived in Moscow one day before the anniversary of the October Revolution (according to the old calendar), the reception was made by Stalin himself with a banquet and generous amounts of alcohol, as befitting the occasion.

On February 5, 1937, the Spanish ambassador and Soviet representatives Grinko, Commissioner of Finance, and Krestinsky, Commissioner of Foreign Affairs, signed the final acceptance act for the deposit of Spanish gold. Paragraph 2, section 4 of the document stated that the Spanish government retained the right to re-export or use the gold, and the last clause of the document stated that the Soviet Union would not be held responsible for the use of the gold by the Spanish authorities. This clause specified that “if the government of the Republic ordered the export of the gold deposited by the USSR or used the said gold in any other way, the responsibility assumed by the People’s Committee of Economics (Ministry of Finance of the USSR) would automatically be reduced in whole, or in part, in proportion to the actions taken by the government of the Spanish Republic.”

It was clear that the gold deposits in Moscow could be freely used by the Republican authorities, exporting or cashing them, and the Soviet authorities would not assume any responsibility. It is worth noting that the USSR transferred ownership of the gold to the Republican government, not to the Bank of Spain, the legal owner. However, as usual in such cases, complaints soon reached Stalin and Molotov about the embezzlement of Spanish gold by members of the Spanish Communist Party. Beria was immediately ordered to investigate the matter, and he, in turn, sent Sudoplatov, then a special assistant to the Director of the Foreign Department and later the orchestrator of Trotsky’s assassination, to check the transaction records at Gohran, the Precious Stones Service of the Ministry of Finance of the Soviet Union.

His investigation concluded that no embezzlement had occurred, and the value of 518 billion dollars in gold and jewelry (1938 values) had all ended up in the Moscow treasury. This value did not include the face value of the coins, which was greater than the quantity of gold contained in the coin itself. Those involved in the events were, of course, removed very quickly. Stashevsky and the Soviet ambassador to Spain, Rosenberg, were executed in 1937 and 1938, respectively.

Orlov, fearing for his life, escaped to the United States in 1938. Grinko, Krestinsky, Margoulis, director of the Precious Stones Service of the Ministry of Finance, and Kagan, director of the Foreign Exchange Service, were executed or disappeared in various ways, accused of “actions detrimental to the USSR.” The four Spanish officials sent to oversee the operation were detained by Stalin until October 1938, when they were allowed to leave the Soviet Union for Stockholm, Buenos Aires, Washington, and Mexico City, respectively. The Spanish ambassador Marcelino Pascua was transferred to Paris.

The lack of gold as collateral for banknotes caused a 1,500% inflation in areas controlled by the Republicans (in nationalist-controlled areas, inflation was 40%). After the war, the Spanish government attempted to repatriate the gold from the USSR, only to receive the reply that it had all been used to pay for the military aid received during the civil war, as well as the cost of its transportation to Moscow. In addition, Spain seemed to owe 50 million dollars, with all the above having Juan Negrin’s signature.
