Important Expert Travel Tips for Chardham:-

While visiting Hindu mythological sites, shrines and temples, one should remove shoes and cover head with a piece of cloth before entering the Holy Place.
Do carry your personal daily use products toiletries, Â creams, moisturizers, sunscreen etc.
Pack a medical kit with painkillers, antibiotics, cough lozenges, Antiseptic cream, Iodine, tube-squeeze cream and medicines for cold and fever. Carry your routine medicines, as you might find only limited and general medicine at such remote locations.
Carry dark chocolates, dry fruits, Glucose (Glucon D), toffees. They will provide your instant energy during the trekking and during long jams.
It can rain anytime here, so it is mandatory to carry an umbrella and raincoat along with your rain shoes.
To protect yourself from the cold winds here, carry a windcheater, woolen socks, monkey caps and a muffler. These will enable you to withstand the chill that comes with wind on the upper Himalayan region.
When asking for directions, speak to shopkeepers, not pedestrians. Check with at least two persons or more.
Do not take pictures if cameras are not allowed in any particular area. Do not play with the sentiments of any particular religion.
At least a month before the Yatra, it is advisable to start preparatory exercises for the trip 4 months in advance.
Though self-managed tours happen to be economical, it is advisable for your Chardham yatra to go for a guided tour arranged by an expert local travel agent.
Carry extra batteries and films for your camera, as electricity is not regular in such remote places.
Avoid traveling in the rainy season as there are a lot of landslides during that time.
Book your trip well Â in advance if you are travelling close to the temple opening dates, there is a heavy rush of pilgrims.Â
Alcohol or non-vegetarian food is not permitted during Char Dham Yatra Tour.
Drink packaged water or boiled water only.
Accommodation Expectation: The provided hotels are of a standard Category unless you have booked Deluxe / Luxury package. Expect Basic Home stay / Guest houses in Kedarnath.
Meals Exceptions: We provided Breakfast and Dinner to our guests it will be basic Indian vegetarian meals (We do not offer any meals in Kedarnath)
From Sonprayag to Gaurikund our vehicles are not allowed and hence one has to go with Union Taxi by paying 40-50 Rupee Person one way.

Travelling Tips

Train Connectivity: Rishikesh, Haridwar and Dehradun are well connected to major cities of India by Railway Network.Â

Air Connectivity: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun. Helicopter service to Kedarnath and Badrinath is available from Delhi, Dehradun, Phata, Augustmuni and Gauchar near Rudraprayag and Jollygrant Airport Dehradun.

If self-driving in Uttarakhand during Chardham

Always keep your vehicle on left side of the Road.
Use Horn at curves on hills, never overtake the overtaking vehicle.
One should not drive more than 8 hours a day in hilly region.
Avoid driving after sunset, as it is not allowed in hilly area of Uttarakhand.
Use shoes instead of slippers while driving.
Check your Brakes and Hand Brakes before starting journey.
Check the Headlights, Break light and Parking lights of your vehicle.
Always give way to uphill vehicles.
Keep your vehicle's valid documents with you to avoid inconvenience.
Before journey, make sure that fuel tank of your vehicle is full; in case of landslides you might have to take alternate long routes.
Ensure to refuel, where ever easily you get chance, during season there might be long queues in Petrol Pumps at main stations.
Carry first aid box with you.
Do not drink and drive.
In case of traffic jam, park your vehicle at the end of the queue. If you initiate a parallel queue, the traffic from other side might force you to drive in reverse gear, till you reach again at end of the original queue. And you may find it very difficult to drive long in reverse gear on a hilly road.
Do not compete with local vehicles/drivers. They know the terrain very well.

Day 01: Haridwar to Guptkashi.

Attraction:

Enroute witness the Mandakini River at Tilwara, the river Mandakhini comes from Kedarnath. We also visit Ardh Narishwar Temple.
Evening arrive in Guptkashi means â€œHidden Benaresâ€. Mythology describes how when the Pandava brothers were searching for a glimpse of Shiva, Shivji first concealed himself at Guptkashi, but later fled from them further up the valley to Kedarnath, where the Pandavas finally got their wish fulfilled.

Day 02: Guptkashi to Sonprayag to Kedarnath.

From Sonprayag Take local Taxi to Gauri Kund operated by local taxi association at cost of INR 30-50 Per Person (Pay directly).
If you reach early in Kedarnath have an opportunity to witness evening Aarti Ceremony at the Temple. The Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated, against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range. Kedar is another name of Lord Shiva.

Note: Meals in Kedarnath will be on direct payment.

Day 03: Kedarnath to Chopta.

Morning attend Aarti Ceremony at Kedarnath Temple.
Thereafter we descend to Gaurikund by Trek approx 16-18 Kms.
Gaurikund to Sonprayag Taxi stand by local taxi at own cost.

Day 04: In Chopta â€“ Trek to Tungnath - Sari.

Attraction at Chopta:

Tungnath Temple.
Sari Village.

Day 05: Sari to Deoriatal, Back to Sari - Haridwar.

Attraction at Sari:

Early Morning Trek to Deoriatal.

Tour Payment Terms Initial amount of 20% of the Invoice amount, the Client must pay the balance amount 15-20 days prior to the date of departure of the Tour.Â

Adventure Tours (Trek & Expedition) Payment Terms:

INR 1500/- per person as an advance booking amount to confirm your adventure tour.
Remaining amount of your booking will have to be paid 1 days before the date of travel .

Tour Amendments / Cancellations Policy If the Client is willing to amend or cancel his/her booking because of whatsoever reasons including death, accident, illness, or any other personal reasons including non-payment of the balance payment, the Company is liable to recover Cancellation charges from the Client, as company had already paid your amount in advance in order to Guarantee your services.

For Other Tours

Note:- 1.Â Â Â 100 % Voucher will be provided if the trek/ tour is canceled due to unforeseen circumstances or any kind of Natural Calamities, Political Unrest, and Sudden Global Health Concern, Riots, Lockdown Government instructions etc. in this case Trekveda will issue you a voucher of respective amount having 1 year validity from Voucher date, which can be used in any trek of your interest operated by Trekveda

2.Â Â Â In case of any restriction/health issue (guest gets Covid +ve), we will be avoiding charging any cancellation basis documents been shared .The credit note for the same amount will be issued which guest can use in future.

Itinerary Policy

This itinerary is a sample itinerary based on the information available at the time of publication, all information given in this program Trekveda reserves the right to change any program information before or after your booking the tour due to any events beyond our control. In case if we are aware of any changes sufficiently in advance we will notify you at the time of booking, otherwise our Tour Manager or Local representative will inform you of the changes. Major road works or floods, landslides may necessitate route changes in the itineraries. All of these may cause us to make changes in the itineraries. The Company has mentioned the detailed itinerary, price inclusions & exclusions, special notes etc. in the pdf.

ACTIVITIES OF THE ITINERARYÂ

Trekveda is a travel and holiday organizers only, we do not control or operate any airline, neither do we own or control any shipping company, coach or coach company, Hotel, Transport or any other facility or service mentioned in this program. We take care in selecting all the ingredients in your holiday; but because we only select and inspect them and have no control in running of them, we cannot be responsible for mechanical fault or any injury, death, loss or damage which is caused by the act or default of the management or employees of any hoteliers, airlines, shipping company, coach owner/ Transport operator who are the companyâ€™s independent contractors arising outside our normal selection and inspection process.

TERMS & CONDITIONS:-

1. There is no Contract between the company and the client until the company has received the initial deposit amount per person as specified for each tour package. The full payment must be received in accordance with procedures laid down under Payments Terms. If not paid in that time, the company reserves the right to cancel the booking with consequent loss of deposit and apply scale of cancellation charges as mentioned in the cancellation policy hereunder.

2. The Company has the right at any time and for any reason:-

To terminate the Contract after acceptance of the deposit but prior to the Commencement of Tour without assigning any reason whatsoever. In the event, the Company terminates the Contract, the company shall refund the initial deposit amount without payment of any interest.
To amend, alter, vary or withdraw any tour, holiday, excursion or facility it has advertised or published or to substitute an Independent Contractor of similar class if it is deemed advisable or necessary. In either case, the Company shall not be liable for any damage, additional expense, or consequential loss suffered by the Clients or for any compensation claims made.
The Company would be operating its Group Tours with minimum group strength of 6 adult passengers in each group. If the group strength falls below 6 passengers, the Company reserves the right to Pre-pone OR Postpone OR Merge or Cancel the group. If the Company cancels the Group Tour for any of the above reasons then the monies paid till then by Clients will be refunded against the receipt copies. It is clear understanding between either parties that any loss arising on account of cancellation of flight / train / bus tickets booked by the Clients; either through the Company or on his/her own or through a third party; the Company shall not be liable for such losses or additional expense, or consequential loss suffered by the Clients.

3. No person other than the Company, in writing, has the authority to vary, add, amplify or waive any stipulation, representation, term or condition in this program.

4. In the event of the Company exercising its rights to amend or alter any of the services as mentioned in the itinerary, after such tour or holiday has been booked, the Client shall have the right:

To continue with the tour or holiday as amended or altered.
To accept any alternative tour or holiday which the company may offer. In either of these above cases the Client shall not be entitled to, or the Company shall not be liable to the Client for any damage. Additional expense, consequential loss suffered by him or to pay any amount as refund.

5. In case of any dispute, decision of TREKVEDA will be final and binding.

6. TREKVEDA reserves the right to call you back on the contact number shared by you on the website. Health & Safety: The Company shall in no circumstances whatsoever will be liable to the Client or any person traveling for:

Any death personal injury, sickness, accident, loss, delay, discomfort, increased expenses, consequential loss and / or damage or any misadventure howsoever caused
Any act, omission, default or Independent Contractor or other person or be any servant or agent , employed by them who may be engaged or concerned in the provision of accommodation, refreshment, carriage facilities or service for the Client or for any person travelling with him howsoever caused.
The temporary or permanent loss of or damage to baggage or personal effects howsoever caused In this condition the expression â€œHowsoever causedâ€ includes negligence on the part of any person.

7. No liability on the part of the Company arising in any way out of this Contract in respect of any tour, holiday, excursion facility shall exceed the total amount paid or agreed to be paid for the tour holiday, and shall in no case include any consequential loss or additional expense whatsoever.

8. If the Client has any complaint in respect of the services provided by any of the Independent Contractors, the Client shall immediately notify the same in writing to the Independent Contractor and a copy thereof should be handed over to the Tour Manager of the Company in order to enable the Company to take up the matter with the Independent Contractor so that in future other Clients do not face the same difficulty. a) Any claim or complaint by the Client must be notified to the Company in writing within 07 days of the end of this holiday tour. No claim notified to this Company beyond this period will be entertained and the Company shall incur no liability whatsoever in respect thereof.

9. Each of this condition shall be severable from the other end if any provision be invalid, illegal or unenforceable. The remaining provisions shall nevertheless have full force and effect.

10. Insurance: The tour cost does not include any costs towards the Travel / Meclaim Insurance premium. In case if the Client needs an Insurance coverage, it is suggested to go for suitable insurance policy on your own. The Client has to deal directly with the Insurance Company in case of settlement of any claim.Â

11. Change in Tour Price: The tour prices printed / advertised / quoted to Client are dynamic prices. The person booking tour early is likely to get the lowest price as communicated / offered by the Company, subject to availability of seats. Similarly, person booking tour at the last will be offered the highest prices. This pricing module has been adopted to get early bookings on tours. Hence it is quite obvious that persons travelling on a same group tour are likely to have paid different tour prices. The Company will not entertain any claim whatsoever on account of the same. Also it is clear agreement between either parties that the prices quoted in the proposal / brochure have been calculated based upon the prevailing hotel / transport tariffs and applicable taxes thereon at the time of printing this brochure. The Company reserves the right to amend the price published in this program in case of costs increased before the date of departure. All such increases in price must be paid for in full before departure by the Client. The company also reserves the right to charge offer time to time as per the present situation demand / circumstances. Â

12.Â Force Majure:-Acts of god (including exceptional adverse weather conditions), earthquake, fire , war (declared or undeclared), invasion, rebellion, revolt, riot, civil commotion, civil war, nuclear fission, Lockdown, strike, act(s) of omission/commission by any concerned government(s), or government agencies, judicial or quasijudicial authorities, occurrence of any event can force the Company to change or extended. Hence any additional expenditure occurred due to the above reasons the same will be borne by the passengers.

13.Â Please note trekking / driving time given in the program are approximate and it may vary due to break for refreshments, photography, bad weather and Road conditions.

The menus are pre â€“ set menus provided for breakfast/lunch/dinner on the tour as mentioned under each Tour itinerary and inclusions as printed in our brochure. The meals will be served at restaurants of hotel of stay. The enroute meals or meals during excursions could be packed meals or served by enroute/local restaurants / Dhabas. We cannot process a special meal nor do we guarantee the special diet to the customer. We however reserve the right to change the meal arrangement if circumstances make it necessary to do so. If a tour participant does not avail his/her meal in stipulated time; he/she has to avail the meal on his/her own arrangement and expenses. No claim can be made for the meal which he/she has missed and not utilized.

Itinerary Changes

For the comfort and convenience of our clients, we will sometimes reverse the direction, or slightly amend the itinerary. We will try to advise you of these amendments, prior to the start of the tour or on tour. In the event that a tour participant misses on any part of the sightseeing tour or any such tour due to delay on his part, he will not be entitled to claim refund of the same.

We have mentioned the indicative names of the Hotels for each tour. We reserve the right to change the same due to unavoidable circumstances. In that case we may provide alternative, similar accommodation for which we are not liable to pay any refund. We will not be responsible or liable in case of loss of property or life at the Hotel. Similarly any damages caused to the hotel rooms during your stay, shall be payable by the Clients and the Company will not be liable for the same.

Transport / Coach / Sitting

We use Deluxe 2 X 2 Coaches or vehicles such as Tempo Traveller, Tata Winger, Chevrolet Tavera, Mahindra Scorpio, Toyota Qualis, Tata Sumo or similar as per the availability of vehicles and actual size of the group. Our tour manager / local representative will take reasonable care of your luggage but if you are carrying any high value items on the coach, we advise you not to leave them behind when you leave the coach. We will not be responsible or liable in case of theft or robbery of the said items from the coach. All baggage and personal effects are at all times and under all circumstances your responsibility. Any damages caused to the hotel rooms / coach during your stay, shall be payable by the Clients and the Company will not be liable for the same. The drivers of the vehicles are bound by specific rules like maximum driving hours within a day/during a week, rest period per day/week etc. Clients will have to strictly adhere to the prescribed timetable for the day so that the driver can complete the travel. In case, any of the sightseeing schedules is missed due to delays caused by the client, the same will not be refunded to the client under any circumstances. Â Please note that AC will not work in Hills and no claims to this regard shall be entertained.

Risk and Liabilities - Clients shall agree that Trekveda shall not be held responsible for consequences of natural calamities, weather condition, failure of scheduled airline, detention and delays due to quarantine, strike, theft, force major, civil disturbance, government restriction or regulation, accident by aircraft, car, bus or any other form of transport relating to program schedule. The travelers understand that such situations may occur, and we will inform you of the situation as soon as we have knowledge of it. The right is reserved to cancel or alter any package as conditions require, all additional cost occurs in such case will fully be borne by the travelers. Also, Trekveda shall not be held responsible for any loss/damage of your personal belongings.

Please be reminded that all special requests like early check-in, smoking, non-smoking, views, floors, king, twin, adjoining and/or interconnecting rooms are strictly subject to availability upon arrival and cannot be guaranteed prior. Any expenses arising out of this is to be borne by the customer.
Only 01 extra bed/mattress is allowed per room. This extra bed means a Mattress / Roll over Extra mattress on floor provided where proper extra bed isnâ€™t available.Â
In case of guests cannot climb the higher floors, we request you to update this at the time of booking so that we may take appropriate action and try for rooms in the Ground floor. This is again subject to availability and difference if any will have to be settled directly before check out.
In hills, hotels may be located in a way where the view might be of a building in the front, beside or behind it.Â
There will not be any refund in cased any of the sightseeing is missed/uncovered during the trip.
The Hotels may/may not have some of following amenities as per its policy. Tea/coffee maker/ mini fridge/ enhanced toiletry kit (with moisturizer, tooth paste, brush, shaving kit, lufa, bathroom sleepers, bath-robe) etc.
For meal plans, menu will be on fixed plan/ buffet basis and not on A-la-Carte basis. MAP & AP Meal plans do not include Evening snacks & cold drinks / liquor, Soups or Deserts. For order on A-la-Carte basis, guests are requested to make direct payment for additional items.

Incidental charges due to unforeseen situationsÂ

All arrangements made by Company are in the capacity of an agent only. Company will not be liable for claims or expenses arising from circumstances beyond our control such as accidents, injuries, delayed or cancelled flights & acts of Force majeure/ traffic jams / traffic halts/ diversions/ bandh/ curfew, Union strike, VVIP movement, etc. â€“ We will request you to bear with us the situations beyond our control. Day 01: Haridwar to Guptkashi (210Kms / 07 to 08 Hrs) Arrive in Haridwar and proceed to Guptkashi. Enjoy the scenic journey, passing the Bhagirathi and Mandakini rivers. Check-in at the hotel upon arrival, followed by dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 02: Guptkashi – Kedarnath (6kms By Road & 16kms Trek One Way) Travel to Kedarnath by trekking or opt for a helicopter ride (additional cost). Participate in Puja and Darshan, and experience the evening Aarti at Kedarnath.

Day 03: Kedarnath – Guptkashi (16kms Trek & 06kms By Road) Begin the day with Puja and Darshan at Kedarnath. After exploring the surrounding areas, return to Guptkashi by trek or helicopter. Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 6: Departure from Haridwar/Rishikesh
Reach Haridwar/Rishikesh by train or bus from Delhi or other nearby cities.
Check into a hotel or guest house and rest for the day.
Visit the Ganga Aarti ceremony in the evening, which is a spiritual experience on the banks of the river Ganga.

Haridwar or Rishikesh is the closest major city to Kedarnath, and it is well-connected to other parts of India by train and road. You can take a train or bus from Delhi or any other major city to reach Haridwar or Rishikesh. Spend the day exploring the city and visiting popular attractions such as Har Ki Pauri, Triveni Ghat, and Laxman Jhula.

On the second day, start early in the morning and drive to Gaurikund, which is the base camp for the Kedarnath trek.

The drive takes around 8-9 hours through scenic valleys and mountain roads.
Check into a hotel or guest house in Sonprayag or Guptkashi and rest for the day.
You can also explore the town and its surroundings.

Have an early breakfast and start the drive to Gaurikund, which is the base camp for the Kedarnath Trek.
From Gaurikund, start the trek to Kedarnath, which is around 16 km and takes approximately 6-8 hours.

Your Badrinath Kedarnath tour package begins in Haridwar/ Dehradun. Arrive at the Dehradun Airport/ Haridwar Railway Station and meet our representative, who'll assist you with a drive to Guptkashi. Upon reaching, check-in at a pre-booked hotel and settle down. In the evening, seek blessings at the Ardhnarishwar Temple. Then, get back to the hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Early in the morning, depart from the hotel and head towards Sonprayag. Upon arriving, complete the medical test before starting the Trek. The trek from Sonprayag to Kedarnath is 19 km long, and Pony or Palki can cover it on a direct payment basis. The guests are advised to carry medicines, toiletries, warm woolens, and clothes for the overnight stay at Kedarnath. Pilgrims have the option to book Puja at Temple online or from a counter situated at Temple. Various Pujas are available like Rudrabhishek Puja, Panchopachaar Puja, Shiv Ashtotari Path, Shiv Namawali etc. Overnight stay will be arranged at Basic Guesthouse which is at walking distance from Kedarnath Temple.

On the third day of your Badrinath Kedarnath tour, get up early, take a bath, and head to the Kedarnath shrine at around 4:45 a.m. Have a Darshan of Lord Shiva, attend the 'Abhishekam', offer sincere prayers in the shrine, and receive Lord Shiva's blessings. You can also prostrate with your head touching the deity, etc. Now, you will be back at the Guesthouse and collect your luggage to start the trek down to Sonprayag. From there, our driver will meet you and escort you to your hotel in Guptkashi for an overnight stay.

Today, have breakfast, check out of the hotel, and get on a drive to Badrinath via Chopta Valley. En route, visit Nandprayag & Vishnu Prayag. Upon reaching Badrinath, complete the check-in formalities at the hotel and unwind. If time permits, you can attend the evening Aarti at Badrivishal Temple. Further, an overnight stay at the hotel.

On the fifth day of your Divine Do Dham Yatra, you visit the Badrinath shrine. After bathing in the Taptkund early in the morning, you make your way to Darshan at the Badrinath Dham. Also known as Badri Vishal, this shrine is one of the five forms of Lord Vishnu. There are other interesting sightseeing spots just within the 3 km of Badrinath shrine, like Mana, Vyas Gufa, Maatamoorti, Charanpaduka, Bhimkund, and the "Mukh" of the Saraswati River. Now, drive back to Rudraprayag via Joshimath, where you can visit the Narsingh Temple on the way. Later, drive back to Rudraprayag via Joshimath. Further, an overnight stay at Rudraprayag.

Post Breakfast, you will check out from the hotel and start with the drive to Rishikesh. On the way, visit Dharidevi Temple, known as the protector of Char Dhams. After the temple visit, drive to Devprayag and visit the confluence of Mandakini & Alakhnanda Rivers "that form the Holy River Ganga" and Raghunath temple. This is one of the 108 divyadesams temple.

Further, continue with a drive to Rishikesh, a celebrated spiritual town on the bank of Ganga surrounded by the Shivalik range of the Himalayas on three sides. Here, visit the significant attractions such as Laxman Jhulla, Ram Jhulla, Triveni Ghat, Bharat Mandir, and Shivananda Ashram (subject to time permission). Later, get a transfer to Rishikesh Railway Station / Dehradun Airport for your onward journey.

Day 1 haridwar - guptkashi (8 hrs).

Morning meet our representative at your Airport / Railway Station / Hotel. Drive towards Guptkashi . Enroute you can see the beautiful river Mandakini at Tilwara . The Mandakini river comes from Kedarnath , drive alongside the river to reach Guptakashi , visit Ardh Narishwar Temple in Guptakashi. Check into the hotel arrival in Guptakashi. Overnight stay at Guptakashi. ( Meals : Dinner)

Day 2 Guptkashi - Sonprayag - Kedarnath

Morning after breakfast, today we will go to Kedarnath. To reach Kedarnath you will have two options. One if by trekking and other is by Air via Helicopter ( at your own cost ).

By Helicopter: Morning our driver will transfer you to your Helipad location ( Phata , Guptkashi, Sirsi etc) as per helicopter ticket time. Kindly inform the driver timings of helicopter mentioned on the ticket previous day. Different aviation has different location for their helicopter service. Our driver will provide you pick and drop to hotel. Kindly inform the driver timings of helicopter mentioned on the ticket. Advance booking is highly recommended for the helicopter. Note: Helicopter Tickets are not included in this package. By Trek: To reach Kedarnath by trekking route first you have to reach Gaurikund . We will drive to Sonprayag early in the morning after breakfast. Our car will drop to Sonprayag . From Sonprayag 5 kms drive to Gaurikund local jeep is available. This sharing basis jeep guests can book directly at own cost. Gaurikund to Kedarnath is further 14 Kms trek.

After reaching the Kedarnath visit Kedarnath Temple . Check in to the hotel/ashram. Visit Shankaracharya Samadhi. Overnight stay at Kedarnath. ( Meals : Breakfast and Dinner)

Day 3 Kedarnath â Sonprayag - Guptkashi

Morning after breakfast explore nearby areas by walk at Kedarnath . Later reach Guptkashi as per your choice by trek or Helicopter.

By Helicopter: Inform the driver when you leave for Kedarnath about your approximate return time and helipad name according to ticket. Our driver will pick up you from helipad and transfer you to your hotel.

By Trek: Inform the driver approximate return time. Once you reach Gaurikund from Kedarnath by trek you can take local jeep till Sonprayag . Our driver will meet here. Due to parking issue keep driverâs contact number with you and call him when you reach sonprayag so he can pick up you.

Gaurikund to Sonprayag local jeep at your own cost. Guests can book that at own cost. At arrival check in to hotel in Guptkashi. Overnight stay at Guptkashi . ( Meals : Breakfast and Dinner)

Mythology describes how when the Pandava brothers were searching for a glimpse of Shiva, Shivji first concealed himself at Guptkashi, but later fled from them further up the valley to Kedarnath, where the Pandavas finally got their wish fulfilled. There are more tangible connections as well-the Kedarnath pandas (priests) live in Guptkashi during the winter months, and after the Kedarnath temple closes for the winter, the image of Kedarnath passes through Gupt Kashi on its way to Ukhimath (across the valley), where it stays for the winter.

Day 02 Guptkashi to Kedarnath to Guptkashi (30kms by road & 19kms Trek one way)

Morning after breakfast drive to Gaurikund, start your trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath (by Pony / Doli / Helicopter at your own cost). Visit Kedarnath Temple . After temple Darshan trek down to Gaurikund. Later, drive to Guptkashi. Overnight stay at Guptakashi.

Treking Route: If you are going by trek for Kedarnath then our car will drop you at Sonprayag. You have to hire a local jeep for Gaurikund then your trek will start for Kedarnath Ji 14 km one way. Same as when you return.

Kedarnath: The Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic spot situated, against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range. Kedar is another name of Lord Shiva. According to legend, the Pandavas after having won over the Kaurava in the Kurukshetra war felt guilty of having killed their own brothers and sought the blessings of Lord Shiva for redemption. He eluded them repeatedly and while fleeing took refuge at Kedarnath in the form of a bull. On being followed he dived into the ground, leaving his hump on the surface. The remaining portions of Lord Shiva appeared at four other places and are worshipped there as his manifestations. The arms appeared at Tungnath, the face at Rudranath, the belly at Madhmaheshwar, and his locks (hair) with the head at Kalpeshwar. Kedarnath and the four above-mentioned shrines are treated as Panch Kedar.

Kedarnath Weather – Due to its high altitude the weather in Kedarnath remains cold for the most part of the year. Summer here is cool and pleasant while winter is severe. During the summer season the temperature varies around 20°Celsius. Light woolen wear is recommended. The Winter season in Kedarnath is severe with the mercury falling to as low as 0°Celsius. Day 03 Guptkashi to Haridwar (165kms/5-6hr)

Morning after breakfast, drive for Haridwar via Rishikesh. One of the major pilgrimage tours in the Himalayas is “Kedarnath Dham Yatra”. This temple is placed at a high altitude and to reach this destination, one requires a significant amount of trekking and climbing. Travellers visiting Kedarnath Dham Mandir at higher altitudes need to take some major precautions against the harsh weather conditions and altitude sickness. Always stay prepared to face any kind of situation during the journey.

Weather in Kedarnath Dham Temple

The weather conditions at such high altitudes are very unpredictable. The cold and harsh climate of the Himalayas can change over time. It is very important to get oneself prepared before starting this difficult journey. The weather during the months of April to November is pleasant and visited by lakhs of people as the temperature stays around 17°C. Kedarnath Temple stays closed during the months of December to March as the region receives a severe amount of snowfall and remains extremely cold hence is avoided by trekkers and visitors. The routes get blocked due to these bad weather conditions. During this harsh climate, the idol of Kedarnath is shifted to Ukhimath, a place near Guptkashi. Later it is again placed in its original place during the peak season.

Registration for Kedarnath Yatra 2024

Registering for the Kedarnath Yatra can now be done through ways given as follows:

Registration for Chardham Yatra can let you visit the Kedarnath Temple as it is included in the Chardham Yatra Registration Page. As per the 2024 updates, one has to register their names and required details online through the Dehradun Smart City Portal. One can also visit the website of the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board which deals with pilgrimage tours in the state. The website link https://registrationandtouristcare.uk.gov.in/
Offline registration is available at various registration centres in different locations throughout the route of Chardham. As per the 2024 updates, Sonprayag, Haridwar (Rahi Hotel) and some centres of Rishikesh (ISBT, RTO and Gurudwara).
Travellers can also register through their mobile app ‘Tourist Care Uttarakhand’, available on both Android and iOS.
Pilgrims can register through a WhatsApp facility by typing and sending “Yatra” to the mobile number +91 8394833833 for initiating the process. Verification can be done only by visiting the shrine and one must remember to download the ‘Yatra Registration Letter’ or by scanning the QR of the mobile. Carry ID cards for smooth processing.

Helicopter Booking for Kedarnath Yatra 2024

Tourists can choose to travel to Kedarnath by booking helicopters either from government Heli services or from private agencies at the destination of Kedarnath is located at a high point.

Helicopter services are available between Kedarnath and Guptkashi, Phata and Sirsi for Kedarnath Yatra. People can book from the official website of Heli Services established under the government, https://heliyatra.irctc.co.in/ . It is a joint collaboration between the Uttarakhand government and IRCTC.
People can also contact private tour or travel agencies which are also authorized by the government and carry all licences. If there is a suspicion of bad weather, then the amount taken for booking tickets is usually refunded. Helicopter tickets charge at a rate of a minimum of INR 3000/4000 one way and INR 7000/8000 for a round trip.

Health Precautions for Kedarnath Yatra

The Kedarnath Temple is based on a very high altitude of Garhwal Himalayas and while travelling at such a high altitude it is very important to follow some health precautions before beginning the yatra. Although the town of Uttarakhand is well-connected to major cities, but the last stretch is about 14 kilometres and takes a long trek to reach Kedarnath from Gaurikund.

To ensure a safe and comfortable journey to Kedarnath Dham, some essential health tips that every pilgrim should keep in mind are as follows:

Consult a doctor before travelling to a region of high altitude.
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes during trekking and must carry extra clothes as the weather is very changeable.
Travellers require proper acclimatisation to prevent altitude sickness.
Avoid dehydration and exhaustion by carrying sufficient water and food supplies.
Carry a first aid kit containing essentials such as prescribed medicines, band-aids, antiseptic, painkillers and other items.
Carry a walking stick along the way as the routes are slippery and it helps in walking.

Haridwar is a holy city of Uttarakhand and also a famous site for the holy festival of Kumbh Mela. Haridwar translates to “gateway to the gods” and is popular for its several temples, shrines and ghats. To reach Haridwar from Delhi, it takes a drive of around 6 hours approximately to cover the distance of 205 kilometres.

Early morning (5:00 AM) go to helipad at Phata or Guptakashi and take flight to Kedarnath.
Or leave for Gaurikund to commence the trek to Kedarnath (14 Kms). Or hire the pony / Doli to cover the trekking distance.
On reaching pay visit to Kedarnath Darshan and Special Pooja.
Overnight stay at the Hotel/Camp.

The Kedarnath Temple is around a distance of 32 kilometres from Guptkashi and also involves a trek of 14 km to reach the top where the temple is located. Kedarnath is one of the Panch Kedar and is also one of the 12 jyotirlingas. The temple stays closed during the months of winter as the routes get blocked due to heavy snowfall and the idol is moved to Ukhimath. Otherwise, the temple stays open from April to November.

Early morning visit Kedarnath temple & return to Gaurikund.
From Gaurikund, drive to Rudraprayag.
See the holy confluence of river Alakhnanda & Mandakini at Rudraprayag.
Upon arrival, check in at your pre booked hotel.
Overnight stay at hotel.
After breakfast, drive back to Haridwar.
On reaching Haridwar, transfer to Haridwar Railway Station for your journey back home.
