Detailed Boracay travel guide with DIY Boracay itinerary with budget including places to see in Boracay.

The sun-drenched Boracay has brazenly succumbed to tourism. It placed the Philippines on the tourists’ radar because of its impeccable palm-fringed, powdery, white shore cuddled by turquoise, warm sea.  But there’s more to Boracay than its world-famous White Beach, the island is also packed water sports activities, beach parties, good food and fruit shakes, and friendly locals to boot.

BORACAY PRE-TRAVEL GUIDE

About boracay.

The influx of tourists in Boracay started sometime in 1970’s, when the it was used as filming locations of the US movies Nam’s Angels and Too Late Hero.  After that, in 1978, German Writer Jens Peter mentioned Boracay as paradise on Earth in his book about the Philippines. Since then, foreign backpackers started to travel to Boracay and it quickly became a budget beach destination. Back in the days, Boracay is just one of the unfamiliar places in the province of Aklan, in the Philippines inhabited by the Ati and Tumandok, the indigenous people of Panay Island who thrive on coconut farming, fishing, and goat raising.

Sadly, as Boracay quickly became one of the world’s best beach destination and developed as a prime tourist destination, the Ati and Tumandok people, the original inhabitants of the island, were displaced on a mere 2.1 hectare walled community. Dexter Condez, the spokesperson of the Boracay Ati Tribal Organization (BATO) was gunned down, and the suspect is a security guard of a popular hotel chain. BATO, accused the management of the hotel and 2 other nearby resorts as allegedly interested in the lot occupied by the Ati people. The hotel strongly denied any involvement in the murder.

It is unfortunate that despite being the original residents of Boracay, the Ati and Tumandok people seem to have lost their rights and place in the island. Over the years, only a few of them work in hotels and restaurants around Boracay, when they should be the first ones benefitting from the influx of tourists there. I have visited other ASEAN countries, and I’ve seen how proud they are of their culture. They found a way to somehow preserve, integrate, and showcase their local culture and the way of life of the indigenous people to help educate visitors. Hopefully, in the near future, tourism in Boracay can create better economic opportunities for the Ati and Tumandok, after all, the island is originally their ancestral territory.

WHEN IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT BORACAY?

BORACAY ITINERARY: OFF-PEAK SEASON IN BORACAY

Boracay is a tropical beach destination, its peak season is around late March to May, the summer months in the Philippines. But take note that since it is the peak season, expect the prices of flights and hotels to skyrocket. Also, there are lots of tourists during the summer.  If you want to travel with less tourist, best time to visit Boracay is around January to early March, before the peak season.  August to November is low season, due to the rainy season and typhoons in the Philippines, but prices can be pretty low during this season, so if you want to save on flights and hotels, you can try visiting Boracay at your own risk during this season. Best to check the weather updates before your trip though.

BORACAY WI-FI

While most accommodations, cafes, and restaurants in Boracay offer free internet, having your own pocket Wi-Fi is still recommended. You can connect securely online when you have your own Wi-Fi and you can stay connected online even outside the confines of your resort or hotel.

PHILIPPINES POCKET WI-FI: RENT HERE

Boracay atm.

There are a handful of ATMs in Boracay (BDO, BPI, and Metrobank) and money exchange centers. Best to stack up on cash when in the island because almost everything is on a cash basis. Some establishments and hotels accept major credit cards.

BORACAY DRONE

Is drone allowed in Boracay? NO.  I was told they no longer allow flying drone for personal use.  As for business use, you need to secure a permit at the Municipal Mayor’s Office, fees may apply.

BORACAY SAFETY:

Is it safe to travel to Boracay? Yes, of course. Boracay is a tourist-friendly place and has been receiving tourists from around the world since time immemorial.  Locals here are easy going and pretty friendly.  But you have to understand that lately, due to the pandemic, which led to unemployment and closure of many businesses around the island, many locals are desperate to earn a living, so, please forgive some touts if they can be quite persistent to sell you tours or souvenirs. Thing is, Boracay is heavily dependent on tourism, that’s why the suffered a major blow when Covid-19 struck the world in 2020, because of the travel restrictions imposed by many countries. But overall, Boracay is still a great and safe destination to visit and enjoy, if you are looking to travel soon. It is also safe for solo female travelers, but I’d still recommend visiting in groups since it’s a beach destination that you’d cherish more if you are with your loved one, family, friends, or colleagues.

Where to stay in boracay.

During my multiple visits in Boracay, I stayed at different hotels in different areas. One is located in Station 3, another in Diniwid Beach, and there’s also one in Station 2.  The most convenient  is the one at Station 2 of course, but I also liked my stay at Diniwid Beach it is quiet and the sunset was really great. Meanwhile, what I like about my hotel at Station 3 is, it’s inexpensive.  But my personal favorite is the one hidden in Bulabog Beach – Ferra Hotel and Garden Suites because it is spotless and has excellent customer service.  You can read my full review through the blog link below.

1.swim at boracay white beach.

Mention Boracay and the image of White Beach with Willy’s Rock immediately comes to mind.  This jaw-dropping beach has powdery white shore lapped by a beautiful blend of blue and mint water. Tourists from all over the world are drawn to White Beach, which is now dotted with hotels, restaurants, cafes, bars, and souvenir shops. It is usually pretty busy during the summer months. White Beach deserves its fame, it boasts of the finest sand and definitely one of the best beaches I’ve visited in the Philippines. Even its seafloor has powdery sand, which makes it ideal for swimming.

White Beach is divided into 3 Stations: Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3.  Station 1 and 2 has finer sand compared to Station 3, and it is where most mid-ranged and luxury hotels are located.  That’s where you can find the posted boy of Boracay – Willy’s Rock.  Meanwhile. Station 3 is where most budget hotels are concentrated and is pretty popular to backpackers in Boracay.

How to get to White Beach: Take a tricycle to D’Mall.  From there, you can walk to Boracay White Beach Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3.

2.Boracay Island Hopping

BORACAY ISLAND HOPPING

You can join a Boracay Island Hopping Tour that typically costs ₱1,000 ($20) to ₱1,500 ($31) per person depending on the agency.  The group tour usually includes buffet lunch and roundtrip transfer to your hotel, entrance fee is typically excluded, you may have to pay separately.  The Boracay Island Hopping Tour usually includes a visit to:

3.Boracay Land Tour

If you want to explore other far more peaceful Boracay beaches without taking a boat, you can do so by hiring a tricycle for ₱500 ($10), good for 2-3 persons.  Alternatively, you can also rent an ATV for ₱800 ($17) – ₱1,000 ($21) per unit, good for 2 pax, and visit Mt. Luho Viewpoint. I took a tricycle tour during my last trip to Boracay and I enjoyed it, especially the view of Boracay from Mt. Luho Viewpoint.  The farther beaches of Boracay are undeniably more tranquil and still retains the appearance of a fishing village.

Boracay is well-known for its delicious fruit shake, and Jony’s Fruitshake is the original in the island, founded in 1982.  I was lucky enough to meet the amiable owner of Jony’s Fruitshake – Mr. Dionisio “Jony” Salme, who also owns Maya’s Restaurant, Pig Out Bistro, Jony’s Resort, and Jony’s Boutique Hotel. Jony’s Fruitshake is also served at Maya’s Restaurant and Pig Out Bistro.

Boracay itinerary: Jony's Fruitshake

Mang Jony is the long-time President of Boracay Business Foundation Incorporated (BFI), an organization of business owners in Boracay. He told me how he arrived in Boracay, back in March 2, 1972, when there was no electricity yet in the island. Back then, Boracay is still virtually empty, occupied mostly by Ati and Tumandok indigenous people, and a few foreign backpackers who visit the island occasionally. Mang Jony, who is originally from Pontevedra, Negros Occidental, worked for the Elizalde Group of Companies. But due to the land grabbing issues during the Marcos era, he was assigned to Boracay by his boss to manage the properties of Elizalde Family like the age-old D’Mall and a local radio station. Since there was no electricity yet, they use a generator. Jony’s Fruitshake started when an Austrian Dutch Backpacker who visited Boracay had a blender with him and sold him the blender when he went back to his country.  Apparently, the young guy got tired because there was no place to charge his blender.  Since they have a generator, Mang Jony eventually bought it, but said it was pretty expensive to maintain it since they had to travel all the way to Kalibo, which takes a whole day, just to buy gasoline for the generator to run the blender, to buy ice, and to buy fruits. Fortunately, a co-worker gifted him a refrigerator powered by kerosene where he made ice.  Soon enough, foreign tourists started lining up for his fruit shakes. He then added Mexican food to his menu, like tacos and burritos, since that’s what the foreigners like back then. He set up umbrellas and tables along White Beach, and the rest is history.  Today, you can get Jony’s Fruitshake beside Maya’s Restaurant and at Pig Out Bistro.

6.Boracay Food Trip

Boracay may not be the best place in the Philippines to go on a food trip, but it sure has a handful of relaxed restaurants and cozy cafés that serve both unfussy and creative dishes. Also, take note that because of Covid-19, many restaurants, cafes, and bars have closed. Here’s some of my personal favorites:

boracay travel guide: Pig Out Bistro

  Pig Out Bistro

If you are wondering what Boracay looked like before the arrival of tourists, a huge mural painting inspired by one of the remaining old photos of Boracay taken by Dieter Schrottmann can be seen on the wall of the Pig Out Bistro in Boracay. But aside from the painting, what draws tourists to this tiny café is its ingenious food. Take for example the fresh oysters from Aklan, like the Oyster Mignonette, which, as its name suggests is garnished with mignonette sauce to balance out the brininess of the oyster. My favorite is the Green Oyster relished with herbed compound butter. And there’s also Oyster and Pearl, savored with egg roe, cucumber, and dill. If you’re in a group, try the seafood platter composed of grilled prawns, octopus, and gindara , oyster mignonette, baked oyster, steamed clams, and garlic steamed clams.

Maya’s Restaurant

This good old restaurant has been in Boracay since 1982, it was founded by Mang Dionisio “Jony” the same year as Jony’s Fruitshake. Maya is derived from the local name of a bird and the name of the indigenous people of Mexico – the Mayans, because the resto serves both Filipino and Mexican cuisines.

boracay food trip

The palm-fringed Maya Restaurant is a beach-front diner located in White Beach Station 1 in Boracay, in front of Jony’s Hotel and beside Jony’s Fruitshake. It exudes an airy, tropical atmosphere and the interior is decked with modern-designed rattan chairs where you can sit snugly while sipping your favorite Jony’s Fruitshake.

The dishes here are also created by Chef Jun Salme of the Pig Out Bistro. The Mexican flavors include: Tacos Al Pastor , comprised of homemade fresh corn tortilla, slow-cooked pork, avocado, beans, onions, and cilantro rice. The Carnitas Burrito was inspired by the shared recipe of a former Mexican Ambassador to the Philippines.  Meanwhile, some of my favorite Filipino cuisines at Maya’s Restaurant are the Kansi – softened beef bone marrow stewed in lemon grass, ginger, and batwan , and of course, the Lechon Kawali – the popular pork belly served in small kawali , which is oven-steamed to preserve the crunchiness of the skin and the juiciness of the fat.

Other Places to Eat in Boracay

Nonie’s restaurant: reserve here, station x dip and dine experience: reserve here, 7.boracay sunset watching.

The sunset of Boracay is legendary.  It is a big attraction on the island, while enjoying your fruit shake or beer at a beach-front café or a nearby swanky restaurant.

BORACAY TRAVEL GUIDE: PARAW SAILING

But if you want an extraordinary sunset watching experience, try the Boracay Paraw Sailing tours during sunset.  In the Philippines, “paraw” is a term for small boat with two katig (outrigger) that is propelled by sail. And there’s a plethora of paraw boats on the beach of Boracay used for sunset watching activity.  Paraw can accommodate up to 8-10 persons. Basically, you will ride the paraw and glide along the cerulean sea during sunset. Book ahead below to reserve a seat.

8.boracay pub crawl.

Boracay is well-known for its night life.  Back in the days, during my first time in the island we met some friendly fire dancers who took us to local bars in the island where locals party like there’s no tomorrow. Nowadays, if you’re into party scenes, best to join the Boracay Pub Crawl where an experienced local guide will take you different popular bars in Boracay and get free shots and special drinks at every stop while still enjoying different activities.

9.buy boracay souvenirs.

boracay souvenirs

For a beach destination, Boracay is surprisingly a shopping haven, oozing with boutiques, souvenir shops, restaurants, cafes, and bistros. Its compact downtown area is perfect for shopping, strolling, and people-watching at an outdoor cafe. There are also souvenir stores in Puka Beach selling all kinds of beach outfits and Boracay souvenirs made of local materials.

  10. Boracay Side Trip

While in Boracay, you can actually make day trips to neighboring tourist destinations.

Cliff Diving at Ariel’s Point

This popular tourist destination in Buruanga, Aklan is hugged by emerald and turquoise water and swimming holes hemmed in by rock formations. It’s often crowded with tourists, mostly foreigners, who want to try cliff diving from its 5 different diving boards starting at 3 meters to 15 meters high. If you’re not into cliff diving, Ariel’s Point Day Tour Package includes: paddle boarding, snorkeling, kayaking along Buruanga coast, and sunbathing with a scenic view of the Sulu Sea. A day trip here already includes a buffet lunch (traditional dishes), merienda (afternoon snack), and unlimited drinks (beers, rum, soda, mixed drinks, and water). If you book Ariel’s Point Day Tour Package below, it already includes a boat transfer to and from Boracay. Pick up from Boracay is around 11:15 AM, and return to Boracay is around 5:00 PM, so you have the whole day to spend at Ariel’s Point. You can book at least a day in advance through the link below to secure a slot since this is a popular destination.

Carabao island.

If there’s one day trip from Boracay that I would recommend, it’s Carabao Island. I’ve spent a few days in this tiny quiet island, far from the trappings of commercialization, and I loved it. But if you don’t have much time to spend, you can book a day tour to Carabao Island.

And if you have the luxury of time after your Boracay trip, you can also visit other equally charming neighboring provinces.

Gigantes Island

If you still can’t get enough of the beach and islands, head to Gigantes Island, a group of islands off the coast of Carles in Northern Iloilo. Gigantes Island is speckled with islands and islets covered by dramatic rock formations, rough-hewn coves, and emerald lagoons. A Guide to Vacationing in Boracay

travel brochure philippines boracay

On an island called Boracay — one of the more than 7,000 that make up the Philippines —travelers sun on powder-like white sand while scattered sailboats off the shore lean into the warm breeze. It’s not heaven, but it’s pretty close.

In fact, Boracay is just one of three islands that scored a spot on Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Islands list in 2017. Seekers of island paradises have not tired of the Philippines’ allure, and Boracay remains one of the country’s best-loved escapes.

Boracay is wild at heart, and is distinguished for its fun-loving social scene. The island is, consequently, a magnet for beach bums, backpackers, and party animals from all corners of the world.

There’s always some excuse to celebrate here, and even those who don’t come to party will find plenty in the way of amusement. For such a small island (just five and a half miles long), Boracay is an energetic place. From shopping to parasailing or jungle cruises on ATVs, to after-dark performances by fire dancers, there’s a reason Boracay has earned the nickname “the island that never sleeps.”

Here’s everything you need to know to plan a perfect vacation on Boracay — including how to get there, which beaches to visit, and where to pick up high-end souvenirs.

Getting to Boracay

Boracay is surrounded by hundreds of islands in the heart of the Philippines, and though the capital, Manila, isn’t really that far away, you’ll still need to take a plane to get here. All flights arrive at one of two airports: Kalibo (the bigger, more built-up international hub) and Caticlan (a smaller, regional airport that sits adjacent to the island).

Neither airport are actually on Boracay, however, so once you land you’ll need to catch a ferry from Caticlan Jetty Port . The journey lasts 15 minutes, and the whole thing costs $5 round-trip.

If that sounds like too much work, consider booking a room at a hotel that includes inter-island transfers. T+L favorite Shangri-La Boracay Resort & Spa, for example, shuttles guests via speedboat directly from Caticlan to the resort’s private jetty.

Picking the right beach

Every day of your vacation in Boracay will likely revolve around the beach. From lazy mornings spent floating in the crystal clear waters to the island-wide ritual of watching the sunset, life in Boracay simply happens on the beach. But each one has a distinct vibe.

Crowd-pleasing White Beach

Of the island’s 13 beaches, White Beach is easily the most famous. Spanning the island’s west coast, it covers two and a half miles, and is divided into three “stations.” Most of the island’s shopping malls, nightclubs, and hotels are concentrated here and, as a result, it’s quite a lively spot. Our favorite part? The wide, shallow sandbars that extend 200 feet from the shore, meaning you can wade out really far and still only be waist-deep in water.

Relaxed Yapak Beach

Also known as Puka Beach, this is the second largest beach on Boracay. Since it’s on the island’s northern, more exposed coast, the water gets a bit choppier. But Puka makes up for rough waves with its quiet, laid-back vibe. (Compared to White Beach, there are practically no nearby developments or hotels — hence, a less populated beach.) The beach’s name comes from the puka shells that wash up on the shore, making for a coarser texture on the soles of your feet. Pro tip: wear sandals, and pack a picnic lunch, since the restaurant selection here is limited.

Adventurous Bolabog Beach

On the east side of Boracay, Bolabog Beach is the must-visit spot for adventurous travelers. Best known as a destination for kiteboarders, there are numerous tour operators and outfitters ready to send you flying high into the air. At Greenyard , you’ll pay $140 for a 3-hour course that teaches you the basic setup and safety skills, how to launch from the water, and how to properly harness the wind’s power. For those interested in windsurfing, parasailing and other daredevil pursuits, there’s plenty of that available, too.

Coral-fringed Tambisaan Beach

If it’s snorkeling you’re after, head to Tambisaan Beach. In addition to being located at the island’s southern tip, away from the craziness of White Beach, it’s also home to the only true marine life on Boracay. There’s a rich coral garden less than 100 feet off the coast.

Shopping for dinner

Food is a big part of Filipino culture, and Boracay is no exception. Along the main stretch of White Beach, you’ll find countless street food carts, outdoor barbecue joints, and upscale restaurants that show off the country’s unique culinary influences. For something a little out of the ordinary, head to D’Talipapa, a bustling wet market on White Beach. Here, vendors show up each day with fresh-caught seafood, which can be purchased by the pound (bargaining for a lower price is all part of the fun), then brought to any of the surrounding restaurants and cooked to your liking.

Visiting during festival season

In case you hadn’t already heard, Boracay is a serious party destination. That may be most evident during LaBoracay — a celebration of Philippine Labor Day — which falls each year on May 1. Spanning the entire weekend, the lineup is a collection of all-night raves, concerts, regattas, and colorful events that take place across the island. May 1 also marks the official start to summer in the Philippines. Other festivals worth traveling for are Ati-Atihan in January (a traditional Filipino parade with street dancing and a feast) and the mesmerizing Dragonboat Festival in April.

Boracay Travel Guide featured image

So you’re planning to visit Boracay?

Well, you’re in for a treat!

Boracay is EASILY one of the very best beach destinations not just in the Philippines, but in the WORLD.

Not only is it breathtakingly beautiful, but it’s also extremely convenient – you won’t have ANY problems here.

But alright, alright. There are a few things you need to know before you come visit.

That’s why I’ve put together this Boracay travel guide for 2024.

In it we’ll look at:

  • How to get to Boracay
  • Boracay travel requirements
  • A map of Boracay’s spots
  • Things to do
  • Where to eat
  • Sample Boracay itineraries (including my itinerary when I was there)

Then I’ll finish it off with some quick-fire FAQs about Boracay!

There’s a lot to discuss, so let’s dive right in!

How to Get to Boracay

There is only one entry point into Boracay – the Caticlan Jetty Port. To get there, most tourists take a flight to Caticlan airport, ride a 10-15 minute van or tricycle trip to the port, then jump on a ferry for a 10-20 ride to the island.

Cebu pacific airplane in Caticlan airport

There are flights almost every day from Manila or Cebu to Caticlan.

From Caticlan Airport, you have several options. You can hire a transfer service – which will take care of:

  • The van to the port
  • The ferry to Boracay
  • The van to your hotel

This is probably the most convenient way to get to your hotel, and only costs php800 for local tourists, and php1,000 ($20) for foreign tourists if you book at the airport (If you book through Klook , it costs php640 for locals and 830 for foreigners) .

For budget travelers, you can skip the service and go straight to the tricycle terminal right outside the airport.

Tricycles lining up outside Caticlan airport

When you arrive at the port, you’ll have to present your Boracay tourist QR code (more on this later), then pay several fees including:

  • Environmental fee
  • Terminal fee

Then when you dock in Boracay, there’s another tricycle terminal that can take you to your hotel.

You can save about php200 ($4) per head this way, which certainly adds up if you’re traveling in a big group.

But just a warning! Things can get pretty crowded and disorganized at the Caticlan port. So if you don’t want to be jostling around trying to find the right booths to pay the right fees, the transfer service will be better for you.

Crowded caticlan jetty port

Also, many hotels in Boracay can organize private transportation for you at your request!

Boracay Travel Requirements

As of 2024, you’ll only need:

  • Valid ID or Passport
  • Confirmed booking with a DOT-certified accommodation (full list here )

There are no longer any requirements relating to COVID vaccinations!

You will have to fill up a few forms when you get to the Caticlan Jetty Port. However, these only ask for basic information, and you only need IDs and confirmed bookings to get to the island.

Disclaimer! These are the current requirements. I’m going to do my best to keep this up-to-date, but please check with Aklan’s provincial website for official updates!

Boracay Travel Map

Map showing the tourist spots of boracay

Boracay is quite a small island that’s shaped like a drumstick.

There are four “zones” that you need to know about. Starting from the south, to the north, there is:

  • The “town proper” in the south
  • White beach (with stations 1, 2, and 3) on the east side of the “drumstick bone”
  • The windy east side of the island
  • The hilly northern side of the island (the meat of the drumstick)

Boracay “Town Proper” (Manoc-Manoc)

Boracay signage in Manoc-Manoc Port

The port is found in the southern tip of the island. This is the part that’s closest to a “town proper”. Many locals live here, and there are budget hostels that are great for backpackers.

It isn’t the most beautiful part of Boracay, but it’s interesting nonetheless!

White Beach (Balabag)

travel brochure philippines boracay

Heading a little north, you’ll get to the main tourist area of Boracay, White Beach.

White Beach is found on the western side of the island, and this 4km stretch of white sand has it ALL.

Aside from the beach, this is also where you’ll find lots of resorts, restaurants, stores, and even D’Mall – an open-air shopping zone for all your needs.

Honestly, if you spend your entire vacation in White Beach, that’s alright – because this is where the real Boracay experience is at.

White Beach is divided into 3 stations – Station 1, 2, and 3.

While there are several overlaps, here’s generally how the 3 stations are divided:

Station 3 is the southernmost station, and it’s where you find most of the budget accommodations and food choices. The floating dock for banana-boat rides, parasailing, speedboating, and other water activities is found in this area as well (you can get here by riding a boat from Station 3 or 1).

Station 2 is right in the middle of White Beach, and is thought of as the mid-range area. D’Mall is found here, as well as most of the popular restaurants, stores, and some resorts as well. There is no dock in station 2, but this is the place to go paddleboarding or kayaking.

Station 1 has a reputation of being the “classy” zone of White Beach. This is where you’ll find some of the more high-end resorts. This is also where you can enjoy the famous Boracay Parawsailing.

Again, there are overlaps. But if you want a quick-and-easy way to divide White Beach, that’s how to think of it!

The Windy East Boracay (Balabag)

Kitesurfing in Bulabog beach

On the other side of the drumstick bone is Bulabog Beach .

Contrary to the chill vibe of White Beach, the East gets REALLY windy.

This makes it the perfect atmosphere for extreme water sports, like kitesurfing!

The Hilly North Boracay (Yapak)

Sunset over Puka Beach in Yapak, Boracay

Once you pass the thin “drumstick bone” (with White Beach on the west, and Bulabog on the east), you’ll get to some hilly, winding, and oftentimes forested roads.

Here you’ll find a mix of local homes and super-high-end resorts, like Shangri-La.

On the Northeast side of Boracay, you’ll find a bunch of secluded resorts, Ilig-Ilagan beach (which can be dubbed as White Beach without the crowds), and Cujo’s keyhole (a nice place for pictures!) .

Finally, on the Northernmost tip of Boracay, you’ll find Puka Beach which, to me, is the best place to watch the sunset and enjoy nature in Boracay.

Where to Stay in Boracay

As a tourist hotspot, you won’t run out of choices when it comes to where to stay!

Budget Places to Stay in Boracay

For budget options , you can always find affordable hotels or hostels around the town, station 3, or in some not-so-well-known areas.

Lots of these rooms (which are good for 2) go for around php1,000 – php2,000 ($20-$40) per night.

If you’re going solo, you can even find some that go for under php1,000 ($20) a night.

Keep in mind though that it’s difficult to find budget accommodations that are along the beachfront – which is kind of a big deal since it’s Boracay we’re talking about.

Mid-Price Places to Stay in Boracay

Entrance of Piccolo hotel in boracay

There are also mid-priced hotels scattered all over the place which go from php2,000 – php5,000 a night ($20 – $100).

Most of the hotels you find along White Beach fall into this category, with the ones closer to the beach often more expensive.

My family and I stayed at Piccolo Hotel during our visit, a 3-star hotel 200m away from the beach and about 100m from D’Mall.

It wasn’t luxurious or anything, but it was everything that we wanted from it (cozy rooms, fast wifi, tv, not too far from the beach, etc.) . We didn’t have any complaints!

High-Price Places to Stay in Boracay

To me, anything above php5,000/night ($100) is expensive.

Maybe I’m a little more stingy, or maybe it’s because I’m used to Philippine prices.

Whatever the case, if you’re looking for something that’s more than just “okay” or “I have no complaints”, then you’ll want a place that goes anywhere from php5,000 – php10,000 ($100 – $200) a night.

Most of the hotels in Station 1 fall in this category. You can also find many of these around Yapak, near Ilig-Ilagan Beach (the northern part of the island).

Luxury Places to Stay in Boracay

If anything above php5,000 ($100) is expensive, then anything above php10,000 ($200) should be considered luxurious.

And boyyy are there luxurious places in Boracay.

We’re talking places like Shangri-La, The Lind, Crimson, all the big names.

Some of these resorts even have private beaches, so you can enjoy the beautiful white Boracay sand with absolutely no crowds around you!

Of course, these places aren’t cheap at all.

But Boracay is easily one of the best luxury destinations. So if you want to max out your trip, why not book one of these luxury hotels?

Boracay Activities (What to do in Boracay!)

Now let’s get to the fun part:

Things to do in Boracay !

It might be small, but Boracay is PACKED with things to do.

Here are some of the very best ones!

Things to Do in Boracay #1: Swim and Chill in White Beach

Waves at white beach boracay

Ahhh yes, of course.

If there’s one thing that Boracay does better than anywhere else, it’s White Beach.

4km of fine white sand that stretches far into the water – Boracay’s White Beach is the gold standard when it comes to beaches.

Not only that, but it’s also an extremely convenient beach.

A lot of breathtaking beaches come with some inconveniences – like having no resorts, restaurants, shops, atms, or anything else nearby.

White Beach has it all.

Now don’t get me wrong.

The beach itself is extremely clean. In fact, you aren’t allowed to eat and drink on the beach itself.

But just behind the line of coconut trees are all the shops and restaurants you will ever need – making it super convenient.

Honestly, the only thing “off” about White Beach is the crowds.

But other than that, this is the ultimate beach destination.

Things to Do in Boracay #2: Eat and Shop in D’Mall

Entrance to D'Mall

A trip to Boracay wouldn’t be complete without checking out D’Mall!

This open-air “mall” is actually a plaza with all kinds of stores.

Here you get all kinds of restaurants, coffee shops, convenience stores, souvenir shops, pharmacies, and so many more.

There’s even a place where you can shoot basketballs for prizes.

For the food options, you get everything from Italian to Mexican to Chinese to Filipino to fusion, everything.

There are pizzas, burgers, rice bowls, and everything in between.

So no matter what your preferences, you’ll find something for you in D’Mall.

Just a word of warning!

D’Mall gets pretty crowded.

But then again, that’s to be expected, since this is a tourist hotspot.

Things to Do in Boracay #3: Try the Water Activities in White Beach

Parasailers lifting off the boat

White Beach is really where most of the Boracay action is.

Aside from swimming, chilling, and shopping, you can also try the many different water activities on White Beach.

One of the most popular (and thrilling) things to try is parasailing.

Strap into a parachute, ride a speedboat, and let the wind take you up, up, and away!

Just a warning! This isn’t for the faint of heart!

If you prefer thrills that aren’t as scary, you can go for a banana boat or UFO ride.

Or try jet skiing and paddle boarding.

Still too intense?

Do you just want to chill?

Well, there’s still an activity for you.

It’s called Parawsailing!

This is another activity that’s VERY popular in Boracay.

Hop on a Paraw sailboat, and let them take you out to the sunset.

This is probably the best way to enjoy the gorgeous Boracacy sunset.

You can read more about these activities in my White Beach blog post !

Things to Do in Boracay #4: Hop on an Electric Tricycle for a Land Tour!

People entering an electric tricycle

White Beach is really what makes Boracay Boracay.

But if you want MORE, then a great thing to do is to hop into an electric tricycle and let them take you on a land tour!

You can hail any tricycle on the highway, and they can tour you around for php400/2 hours.

If you’re staying in White Beach, this is probably the best way to visit places like Bulabog Beach (very windy beach on the east side of the island) , Ilig-Ilagan Beach (White Beach but with no crowds!) , Cujo’s Keyhole (nice little rock formation for pictures) , Puka Beach (beautiful beach on the northernmost tip of the island – great for watching the sunset) , and other Boracay tourist spots.

This was probably one of my favorite things to do when I visited. So if you’ve got extra time, don’t miss out!

Things to Do in Boracay #5: Go Island Hopping!

Man riding boat in Boracay

Aside from Boracay, there are a few other cool islands that you can go visit.

These include:

Crocodile Island – An island shaped like a crocodile head. If you wanna go diving or snorkeling, this is the place to do it since there’s plenty of marine life here!

Magic Island – A place to snorkel and cliff dive!

Crystal Cove Island – As the name implies, this island is famous for its beautiful coves – there are 2 on the island. I’ve also heard that snorkeling is great in this place.

Where to Eat in Boracay

While Boracay doesn’t have a special dish that all visitors have to try (although you could make an argument for Chori Burger) , they do have a LOT of restaurants to choose from.

And these restaurants cover just about every cuisine you can think of – Chinese, Italian, Mexican, Filipino, American… You name it, they’ve got it.

Most of the popular ones are found in D’Mall, but you can find delicious food all along the highway.

Some of the places I tried include:

Steam Punk ( Burgers)

Chorizo burger and fries

This is my favorite restaurant in Boracay.

It’s so good, I ate here TWICE during my visit!

Hailed as the “Best Burger on the Island”, these guys serve all kinds of delicious burger creations.

From their standard hamburger, to their pulled pork burgers, to their Chori burgers, even to their footlong sandwiches, it’s ALL good.

When your order is ready, they also have a cool little presentation, where your burger is lowered by a steam machine from the kitchen above. It adds a little excitement.

Steam Punk is found right in the middle of D’Mall.

Island Bowls – Boracay Beach Truck (Rice Bowls)

Man ordering from Island Bowls Boracay

Found on the roadside entrance of D’Mall, this food truck serves some really, really good rice bowls from different Asian cuisines.

You can go for things like Bulgogi, orange chicken, adobo, and more. I got the Chinese Pork with Nasi Goreng rice bowl, and it was suuuuuper good.

They also serve milk teas. So if rice bowls with milk tea is your thing, you’ll love this place.

Also, the food truck is aesthetic. So you can get some nice pics here!

Aria (Italian)

For lovers of Italian food, this is the place to be!

Found right at the beachside entrance of D’Mall, this place gives you a wonderful view of the beach while you enjoy your favorite Italian foods.

They have pretty much everything you would want from an Italian restaurant – pizzas, risottos, pastas, lasagnas – you name it.

Halo Mango (Shaved Ice)

Mango halo halo in HaloMango

Do you ever dream about eating a HUUUUUUUUUGE bowl of halo-halo with your partner?

Welp, that’s exactly what you’ll get in Halo Mango!

Let me tell you, the serving sizes here are LARGE. So don’t be shocked when you order the “couple-size” mango halo-halo, and you get a bowl that’s definitely for more than two people.

And it’s delicious too!

If you’ve never tried halo-halo before, it’s essentially shaved ice, milk, and a bunch of different fruits. In Halo Mango, their specialty is mangoes (duh).

If you’re intimidated by what I’ve said about the sizes, don’t worry. They do have a display of their serving sizes in their window, so you can choose accordingly ( we just didn’t pay attention, that’s why we were shocked! ).

Aside from halo-halo, Halo Mango also serves soft-serve ice creams – perfect for beating the heat!

Merly’s BBQ (Chori Burger)

Cooking chorizo over a grill

Whenever I visit a place, I always try to find something that’s truly local.

For Boracay, the closest thing you’ll get is Chori Burger – which is short for Chorizo Burger.

While you can get a “sosyal” version of this in Steam Punk, the “original” Chori Burger comes from a small stall on the border of Station 1 and Station 2.

It’s… well… a bit underwhelming.

All it is is a burger bun with chorizo and some ketchup.

But hey, gotta try the local food right?

Sample Boracay Itineraries (+ What I Did!)

One thing that I love about Boracay is that since the island is so small, you can easily piece together your dream vacation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Traveling Boracay

Now that you know everything you need to know about traveling to Boracay, let’s answer some of the most frequently asked questions about Boracay!

When is the Best Time to Visit Boracay?

The DRY season! The Boracay dry season runs from November to April – making those the best months to visit Boracay. Because what better time to visit an island paradise than when the skies are clear and the sun is out?

Now, I should warn you about 2 things:

#1 Boracay is PACKED during this season.

Crowds in D'mall at night

So expect crowds of people on White Beach. I visited during this season, and whaddya know, it was full of people wherever I went (except Ilig-Ilagan Beach *wink) .

And #2, Boracay’s seasons aren’t very pronounced.

Yes, there’s a much better chance of catching the sunshine if you visit during the dry season. But Boracay doesn’t follow a strict winter-spring-summer-fall pattern.

Instead, it has 2 seasons. Relatively dry from November-April, and relatively rainy the rest of the year.

So if you’re willing to take your chances, you can avoid the crowds by coming during the rainy season (and you might score some discounts!) .

Just don’t complain if bad weather destroys your plans!

Lightning over White Beach

Which Airlines Fly to Boracay Island?

Philippine Airlines, Cebu Pacific, and Air Asia all have daily flights to Caticlan from either Cebu or Manila. Other airlines, such as Sunlight Air also have trips from Manila.

Meanwhile, if you’re already at El Nido, you can take a direct flight to Boracay with Air Swift.

Keep in mind though that these flights are not regular, so you’ll have to check their website for their schedules!

How Much does it Cost to Fly to Boracay Island?

f you book within a month of your trip, a direct flight from Manila or Cebu can cost anywhere from php2,000 ($40) to php5,000 ($100) base fare.

That’s why it’s always good to book early!

If you book months ahead, you can enjoy base fares below php1,000 ($20).

If you’re lucky, you might even hit a promo! Cebu Pacific, Air Asia, and Philippine Airlines do quite a lot of promos for flying to Boracay, and you might just get your ticket for a base fare of just 1 peso!

Why is Boracay the Best Tourist Spot?

Beautiful white sand, amenities everywhere you look, luxury resorts – what’s not to love about Boracay?

In my opinion, Boracay is one of the EASIEST places to travel to – not just in the Philippines, but in the WORLD.

Combine that with its natural beauty, you get a tourist spot that is truly world-class.

What are Boracay’s Stations?

Boracay’s stations are a simple way to divide the 4km stretch of white sand on White Beach.

While there are overlaps, Station 3 is thought of as the budget zone, Station 2 is the mid-range area with most of the shopping options, and Station 1 is considered the high-class zone.

While it’s not on the map, some people even include a Station 0. This is where the classiest of the classy resorts are found. The types for people on a luxury escape!

Why Did Boracay Close?

In February 2018, President Duterte closed Boracay to tourism to make way for the island’s rehabilitation.

Before that, Boracay was getting WAYYY too many tourists – more than it could possibly handle. This led to the island getting dirty.

With trash everywhere and sewage on the waters, Boracay was no longer the island paradise it used to be.

travel brochure philippines boracay

Boracay reopened in October 2018, with stricter rules. This is the reason you aren’t allowed to have picnics on the beach nowadays (or even make sandcastles!) .

How Many Days Should I Stay in Boracay?

3 days and 2 nights should be enough to get enjoy what Boracay has to offer.

Of course, if you wanna stay forever, why not?

Kidding aside, I personally think that staying more than a week is already too much.

Boracay is a place to escape reality.

But if you stay too long, you’ll probably find that Boracay doesn’t have much in the way of diversity – it is, after all, a small island.

If you have lots of time, you could jump on the ferry back to mainland Panay and explore that island. With FOUR provinces on that island, you can stay for months (and feel like you haven’t seen everything!) .

But hey!

That might just be me.

If you absolutely LOVE beaches, why not stay for 2 weeks? A month?

Heck, why not a whole year?

Which is Better, Boracay or Palawan?

Boracay is better than Palawan for casual tourists and beach lovers. However, Palawan is much more diverse than Boracay, and is better for adventurous people who want to enjoy raw nature.

Kayangan lake in Coron, Palawan

Don’t get me wrong.

Palawan is also EXTREMELY tourist-friendly. Especially the big 3 areas (Puerto Princessa, El Nido, and Coron).

But I feel that you’ll have to be a little bit adventurous to make the most out of your trip to Palawan. Whereas in Boracay, you can stay in your hotel all day and still enjoy the full experience.

So it really depends on what type of trip YOU are looking for!

Ready to Travel Boracay?

And there you have it!

That’s my travel guide to Boracay!

So if you haven’t already, go and book your tickets.

Because whether you’re looking for a quick escape from city life, or want to see one of the BEST beaches in the world, then you’re going to LOVE Boracay!

Information about Boracay

Aerial view of Boracay's White Beach

Boracay , hailed as one of the best islands in the world, is arguably the most popular and prime tourist destination in the Philippines. Its main draw is  White Beach , famous for its ultra-powdery white sand that stretches up to 4 kilometers, swaying palm trees from end to end, calm azure waters, and one of the most spectacular sunsets you'll ever see.

Despite it being small, the island has no shortage of wondrous sights and fun-filled activities that can be enjoyed by either solo travelers, tour groups, or families. From frolicking on its many beaches, drinking and dancing until sunrise, and experiencing a variety of water sports activities, you will never run out of things to do in Boracay . Aside from this, Boracay basically has all the accommodation choices imaginable, from backpacker- and budget-friendly hostels and mid-range hotels to the most exclusive and luxurious resorts in the entire country.

Its postcard-perfect beaches and rock formations have also become favorite backdrops for couples getting married and spending their honeymoon, as well as for adventure-seekers, sun worshippers, and party-goers, and the island registers more than a million visitors every year.

What used to be a quiet and sleepy island has become a crowd-pleaser and a world-class destination over the years, prompting a rehabilitation project by the government in 2018, which closed down the island so it can heal and rejuvenate from mass tourism. But it is open once again, renewed and revitalized, but with the same beauty and natural majesty for all the world to see and experience.

Boracay is a destination that can be enjoyed all year round, given its many sights and activities. However, it being an island destination, it is best to visit on bright and sunny days. The dry months usually fall from December to May.

Cheapest time to visit Boracay

Like most destinations in the Philippines, Boracay Island’s low season runs from August to October, the wettest months of the year. Coming here at this time means that almost everything costs less, from flight tickets to hotel accommodations.

Weather in Boracay

As with the rest of the Philippines, Boracay experiences both dry and wet seasons. The hottest months are from March until May, while the wettest months run from August to October. November to February is mostly dry.

Peak season in Boracay

Boracay is jam-packed with visitors during the country’s hottest months, March to May. Tourists troop to the island to enjoy everything the island has to offer, from sunny skies to calm waters.

Holy Week is also very crowded because it means a long vacation for locals and still falls during the summer season.

Main festival/events in Boracay

The holiday season from Christmas until New Year is a high time for Boracay because of its festive island atmosphere and night-long celebrations. Chinese New Year also sees many international tourists coming to the island.

When to avoid visiting Boracay

The months of July to October may bring heavy rains and expected typhoons, and there will be a bigger chance that flights and ferry rides to Boracay will get canceled for safety reasons.

How to get to Boracay

Being a prime tourist destination in the Philippines, Boracay has become very accessible to both local and international tourists. One can reach this idyllic island by air, sea, and a combination of land and sea travel.

The best entry point is Caticlan Airport, with flights coming in from Manila, Clark, Cebu, and Davao. From the Caticlan Airport, it only takes a short 10- to 15-minute shuttle or tricycle ride to Caticlan Jetty Port, where pump boats await for your short ferry ride to Cagban Jetty Port in Boracay Island.

Visitors can also take flights to Kalibo Airport in Aklan, which are cheaper than those landing at Caticlan, but it takes 2 hours to get from Kalibo to Caticlan.

Those coming from Manila and Southern Luzon can reach Boracay via a 9-hour ferry ride from Batangas Pier. Land travel from Manila to Batangas Pier takes about 1.5 hours. Several bus companies also offer a direct Manila-Caticlan route through a Roll-On/Roll-Off (RORO) vessel but with several transfers. The same instructions apply once visitors arrive at the Caticlan Jetty Port.

Upon arriving at Cagban Jetty Port, you will then ride a tricycle or your arranged shuttle service to take you to your hotel or any part of the island you wish to be dropped off.

Safety in Boracay

Boracay Island is generally considered to be a safe destination for tourists. The locals and inhabitants here have become so accustomed to visitors from almost every part of the world, making them friendly and warm. But that being said, some locals, especially vendors, have also gained the reputation of being overly persistent when offering souvenirs and tour packages. Just politely say no if you do not wish to buy any of what they are offering.

Crime rates have also gone down since its reopening. As nightlife here is very active, visitors are always encouraged to be mindful of drunk tourists and locals and to always have company when going back to their accommodations late at night.

Getting around Boracay

Boracay Island is very small, and you can always enjoy exploring the entire White Beach and its inner streets on foot. When mass tourism was at its peak, Boracay’s main street running parallel to White Beach became overly congested that it was much easier to just walk.

Tricycles remain to be the most popular motorized mode of transportation here. You will see them running along major and smaller streets around the island, and it is best taken if you need to go to areas away from White Beach. A number of them will ask you to rent the entire tricycle for your trip instead of taking in other passengers along the way. Expect to pay more for this.

Food and Drinks

Over the years, there are two things that Boracay has become popular for in terms of food and drinks. Jonah’s is the go-to for refreshing milkshakes in fresh fruit flavors and other interesting combos. Chori-burgers are made of grilled local sausages called chorizo sandwiched between burger buns. A lot of stalls by the beach sell this.

There are limitless dining and drinking options in Boracay , wherever you may be staying. Because of its large international market, different cuisine types are being offered around the island. Budget travelers can find local eateries and fast food joints, mostly inside D’Mall and around Stations 2 and 3. More upscale cafes and buffet restaurants can be found along White Beach. You also don’t want to miss out on visiting D’Talipapa, a wet market where you can choose from a wide selection of fresh seafood and have them cooked in whatever way you want in many of the restaurants inside.

Boracay is also world-famous for its very active nightlife. From local bars to big clubs, Boracay has it. You can find most of them along White Beach, too.

Both drinking and smoking at the beach are strictly prohibited. There are designated smoking areas, but it is best to keep the drinks and cigarettes inside the bar or hotel premises in accordance with their own rules.

Best Neighborhoods to Stay in Boracay

For sightseeing.

Anywhere by and near White Beach is a great spot to stay when in Boracay. If you can splurge on beachfront accommodations, you will have the most glorious sight of its immaculate white sand as you step out of your hotel. Although hotels here are more luxurious, Station 1 offers a less crowded shoreline.

You may also choose to stay in Bulabog Beach, also known as the back beach, to see adventure-seekers trying different water sports.

For Shopping

Stay in Station 2, where D’Mall, the island’s central shopping center, and most establishments are concentrated. This area is lined with shops that range from specialty and branded stores down to mini-stalls with locals selling trinkets and souvenirs.

For Nightlife

If you stay along White Beach and its inner streets, you will have no problem finding a spot to drink and dance. As mentioned, Station 2 has the most number of dining and drinking establishments, but there are also clubs and bars in both Stations 1 and 3.

2024 Boracay Itinerary for 1, 2, 3 days + DIY Budget Guide

2024 Boracay Itinerary for 1, 2, 3 days + DIY Budget Guide

Boracay is the top beach destination in the Philippines for leisure travelers.

I’ve made frequent trips there since I was a kid. I can’t even recall how many exactly. Just a half-day drive away from Iloilo (my hometown), Boracay had been my family’s favorite holiday destination growing up. I’ve explored all the best spots on the island.

Is Boracay worth visiting? Yes! The beach is not only one of the most beautiful beaches in the Philippines , but it’s also compelling enough to earn Boracay a spot on the list of the World’s best beaches & islands by many of the top globally recognized travel publications.

Be forewarned though. Boracay can get heavily touristic. If you’re an adventure seeker looking for hidden spots & local experiences, there are many off-beat places in the country that will suit your liking better. You can find them on my list of the best places to visit in the Philippines .

If you do not mind the touristic side of Boracay, then go! It’s a beautiful island to spend a relaxing and hassle-free vacation, especially if you’re after the resort experience & nightlife.

Traveling to Boracay for the first time? This detailed travel guide will make it easy for you to plan and maximize your trip. I’ve included a sample Boracay 3-day itinerary bellow followed by a 1-day and 2-day itinerary. PLUS, helpful travel tips.

Best Areas to Stay in Boracay

Most accommodations are located along White Beach, which is divided into three stations. The best area to stay is Station 1 (north end), known for having the best beachfront in Boracay and a more upscale atmosphere. If you prefer a more central location close to nightlife and shopping, consider booking a hotel in Station 2. Station 3 (south end) offers a quieter, more rustic experience.

Additionally, there are plenty of luxury and mid-range resorts in private beach coves like Station Zero and Boracay Newcoast, as well as hilltop locations around the island. This option is ideal for those seeking a peaceful vacation away from the crowds.

For budget-conscious travelers, consider looking for accommodations inland near White Beach or Bulabog Beach.

How to get around Boracay?

eTrikes (electric tricycles) and shuttle vans are the primary transport within Boracay Island. You can easily charter or get a shared eTrike from the main road, which is around a 5-minute walk from White Beach.

Hotels and resorts located outside of White Beach usually have complimentary shuttle service for guests with pick-up/drop-off service at D’Mall shopping center.

How many days to spend in Boracay?

2 to 4 days is enough to enjoy most of the highlights in Boracay. If you are traveling to Boracay for 5 days or more than 1 week, consider a side trip to nearby islands including Panay Island (Antique, Aklan & Iloilo) and Carabao Island.

When is the best time to visit?

I personally prefer to visit during the cooler month of February or the shoulder season from the end of May to Early June when the island is less crowded compared to the peak season.

During this time, the weather pattern starts to change between dry/summer and rainy seasons. There’s a chance of cloudy skies/rain but the weather is generally good most days. More significantly, the green sludge/algal blooms in White Beach are not as bad as compared to the summer months.

There are three main tourist seasons in Boracay:

Super peak season  — Major public holidays including Christmas to New Year, Holy Week, Ati-Atihan Festival (3rd weekend of January), Labor Day (April 1 & the closest weekend).

Peak season  — December to May except during major public holidays. The hottest months or dry/summer season is March, April & May.

Low/lean season  — June to December except during major public holidays. Rainy/monsoon season starts in mid-June until August and may extend until October.

How to get money?

Money exchange stalls and ATMs of major Philippine banks are widely available in Boracay.

Money saving tips

Traveling to Boracay on a budget? Here are some ways that you can spend less & enjoy a cheap vacation. These are especially useful if you are backpacking or simply traveling on a limited/tight budget.

1.  Go on shared eTrikes — For transport between stations 1, 2 & 3, hail a tricycle with passengers already riding. Ask the regular fare, which is under PHP 30 for short rides. Empty tricycles waiting along the highway usually charge the chartered rate, which is a lot more expensive. There’s also the option of simply walking along White Beach and enjoy sightseeing until you reach your destination.

2.  Travel in a bigger group  — Sharing expenses with more people can make your tours & accommodations a lot cheaper per person.

3.  Eat local — If you want to take a break from expensive food at tourist-oriented restaurants, look around for a carinderia or local eatery, usually found along or near the main road. You can even do your groceries at the supermarket (easy to find) and cook your own food if your hostel has a kitchen facility. There’s also a growing number of fast food chains in the island like Mang Inasal, Andok’s & McDonald’s.

4.  Haggle down prices  — Boracay is known for overpricing tourists, even local tourists from nearby provinces. Don’t be shy to haggle! Always ask for a lower price when buying souvenirs or booking tours. Shop around for the best deal.

5.  Consider staying outside of White Beach  — Expect to pay a premium for beachfront rooms. There are a lot of cheaper options near the main road. Choose one that’s not too far from the beach though.

6.  Look out for discounts online — With the rising popularity of booking sites, there are a lot of accommodations, tours & activities that can be booked cheaper online than paying walk-in rates.

How to book cheap flights to Boracay?

If you are flying to within the next 2-3 months, the general rule to spend less on flights is by booking sooner rather than later. In case you are booking well ahead of your trip, keep a lookout for airline promo fares & seat sales.

The easy way to find cheap flights that you can book right now is to use flight search engines. These sites compare prices on different airlines to show you the cheapest prices. Check multiple flight search engines listed below:

Always check promo fares before booking. Visit the airlines’ official website, mobile app, Facebook, Twitter & other social media accounts for updates.

January 1, 2019 at 4:47 pm

Hi Thea. It was a typo. The direct trip is Roxas-Kalibo. You’d need to change shuttles at Kalibo to go Roxas to Caticlan. Thanks for the heads up!

Hello, can we visit Aerial’s point without the package lunch deal? Thanks a lot! I’ll check you on Instagram for sure.

January 10, 2019 at 4:23 am

That is the only package that they offer as far as I know. There’s no land access to Ariel’s point, so getting the package lunch deal + ferry transfers is the best way. I passed by Ariel’s point on my way to Hinugtan Beach one time (from Buruanga mainland)… but I don’t know if they allow docking at Ariel’s point without a tour package.

We’re planning a last minute trip to Boracay and most of the hotels with availability are in Caticlan. I’ve read various articles saying no day visitors are being allowed on the island but these mostly date back to last October. Can you tell me if we stay in Caticlan this week, would we be able to make day trips each day to Boracay (we’re planning on spending about 2 weeks there)?

February 6, 2019 at 5:04 am

Hi Greg and Danica,

Try searching on Agoda and Booking.com . I haven’t heard an update that they’ve stopped checking the hotel bookings for tourists entering the island. I don’t recommend staying in Caticlan. You can maybe consider exploring other destinations nearby, if you can’t find a hotel in Boracay during your arrival date. Then, transfer to Boracay when you can find a room available. Try checking places to visit in Antique province like Pandan (Malumpati Cold Spring), Tibiao… Carabao Island might also be interesting to you (ferries depart early morning from Caticlan).

Hello, I appreciate your website. Never ben to the Philippines before, was looking at this Nov-Dec/2019. Was looking at staying at Henann Prime Beach Hotel near station one on white beach. My wife and I would like a place that does not get to noisy, but is with in walking distance to everything. We feel staying at the Movenpick would be to far away. Would really like to know your honest thought’s on the Henann Resort. Thank’s

March 26, 2019 at 10:08 pm

The location of Henann is okay. Movenpick is found on a separate beach. It’s a great choice if you’re looking for a quiet area. Movenpick is not too far from White Beach… you can go on the resort shuttle or tricycle to get to/from White Beach.

Thank you for.your information. I’m going to Borocay for.my 50th love beautiful beaches we are from Australia and going middle.march and am.worried you said the water is blue algae and slush is that true for middle march as I go.elsewhere if it’s a problem.

September 13, 2022 at 11:28 am

The algae are most pronounced in the height of the summer months from March to April. It occurs naturally when the sea is calm and the temperatures are high. It’s not really a problem because you can still enjoy Boracay during that time. It occurs only in White Beach. There are plenty of other beaches and spots to visit on the island. It doesn’t cover the whole White Beach, you can find spots where the algae do not build up, at the far end of Station 1, for example.

Pristine waters and white sand in Boracay's White Beach

If you’re a beach lover, Boracay Island is a must-visit destination. Its 4-kilometer-long White Beach boasts soft, powdery sand and calm, clear waters, making it a perfect spot for sunbathing, swimming, and snorkeling.

It is named after the local word “ borac ” which means white cotton. This refers to the island’s fine, powdery white sand that resembles cotton . Over time, the pronunciation evolved into “Boracay” as it is commonly known today.

Aside from its stunning beaches, Boracay offers a wide range of accommodations to suit every budget, from budget-friendly hostels to luxury resorts.

Boracay’s nightlife scene is also a major draw, with beachside bars and clubs offering live music, dancing, and entertainment well into the night. In addition, the island is home to a variety of water sports and activities such as parasailing, paddleboarding, and island hopping tours.

After a 6-month rehabilitation period in 2018, Boracay Island has undergone a major transformation. The government’s efforts have successfully cleaned up the island , making it more environmentally friendly and charming than ever before. Tourists can now enjoy crystal-clear waters and a cleaner, more organized beach experience.

What to See in Boracay:

Boracay Island is a must-visit destination for beach lovers, and there are many places to explore during your stay:

White Beach

This 4-km stretch of uninterrupted white sand and turquoise waters is one of the most famous beaches in the world.

Magic Island

Magic Island is a popular destination for cliff jumping. The island offers a variety of jumping platforms, with heights ranging from 3 meters (10 feet) to 10 meters (30 feet).

Puka Shell Beach

Unlike the bustling White Beach, Puka Shell Beach is a tranquil and quiet spot without many resorts, making it one of the best beaches in Boracay.

Diniwid Beach

A much less crowded beach than White Beach, Diniwid is perfect for those seeking a peaceful and relaxing place to spend the day and witness a great sunset.

Willy’s Rock

This tiny rocky island with a statue of the Virgin Mary and steps carved into the rock is the most photographed landmark on the White Beach in Station 1. The best time to visit Willy’s Rock is during low tide, especially at sunset.

What Makes Boracay a Must-Visit Destination:

Boracay is a popular tourist destination in the Philippines known for its stunning white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a vibrant nightlife scene. The island’s main beach, White Beach, has consistently been recognized as one of the best beaches in the world, making it a must-visit destination for beach lovers. Boracay’s White Beach stretches for over four kilometers, providing ample space for visitors to relax, swim, and soak up the sun.

Aside from its natural beauty, Boracay also offers a range of activities for tourists , such as snorkeling, diving, island hopping, and parasailing. The island’s coral reefs are home to a diverse range of marine life, making it an excellent destination for underwater exploration.

When to go to Boracay:

Boracay Island in the Philippines is a year-round tourist destination, blessed with a tropical climate that maintains temperatures between 25-32°C (77-90°F) throughout the year.

Boracay experiences two distinct seasons: the rainy season and the dry season: the rainy season in Boracay typically runs from June to November, while the dry season runs from December to May.

The busiest time in Boracay typically falls during the high season, which runs from late October to early June. The island is particularly busy during the Christmas and New Year period, as well as during Holy Week (the week leading up to Easter Sunday), when many Filipinos travel for vacation. Additionally, Boracay often sees an influx of tourists during the summer months of April and May, as well as during the months of December and January.

Getting to Boracay Island:

The nearest airport to Boracay is the Caticlan Airport, which is located on the mainland. From there, you can take a short boat ride to Boracay Island. Alternatively, you can fly to the Kalibo International Airport, which is located further away from Boracay, but has more flight options. From Kalibo, you can take a bus or van to Caticlan, and then a boat to Boracay.

If you prefer a more comfortable and hassle-free journey, you can arrange for a private transfer from the airport or any other location in the region to Boracay. Many hotels and resorts in Boracay offer private transfers as part of their services.

There are also ferries from Batangas, Manila, and other nearby ports to Caticlan.

Recommended Tours:

Discover an exciting range of activities on Boracay , including island hopping, cliff jumping, mermaid swimming, kitesurfing, diving, and water sports like banana boat rides, parasailing, jetskiing, and flyboarding. Don’t miss the chance to explore the neighboring islands and stunning coral reefs, or to experience the thrill of jumping from cliffs and riding the winds and waves of Boracay’s coastlines. Boracay offers a wide range of accommodations to suit different budgets and preferences. Here are some popular areas to stay in Boracay:

This is the most upscale and exclusive area of Boracay, with luxurious resorts and hotels located right on the beach. The area is quieter than other stations and offers a more peaceful and relaxed atmosphere.

This is the southernmost part of Boracay and offers a more laid-back and relaxed atmosphere. It’s a good option for those who want to stay away from the crowds and enjoy a quieter beach experience.

Station Zero in Boracay is a well-kept secret, a private beach that accommodates some of the finest luxury hotels on the island. Unlike the bustling tourist hubs, Station Zero offers a tranquil escape. This hidden gem remains undiscovered by most tourists, thanks to its secluded location and the higher price point of the luxury accommodations, which naturally limits the number of visitors to this area.

This is a secluded and peaceful beach located north of Station 1. It’s a good option for those who want to stay away from the crowds and enjoy a more secluded beach experience.

Boracay tourism regulations:

Book your accommodation only with accredited hotels or resorts: All visitors must have prior confirmed bookings only with accredited hotels or resorts who have met environmental requirements set by the government in order to enter Boracay island. This regulation was implemented in 2018 to help manage the number of tourists and ensure sustainable tourism practices in Boracay.

No Littering : Littering is not allowed in Boracay, and tourists are encouraged to dispose of their trash properly in designated trash bins.

No Beach Parties : Parties and events on the beach are not allowed in Boracay, and loud music is prohibited after 10:00 PM.

No Water Sports and Activities during Bad Weather : Water sports and activities are not allowed during bad weather conditions for safety reasons.

Limited Access to White Beach : During peak season, access to White Beach is limited to a certain number of tourists at a time to prevent overcrowding and ensure the beach remains pristine.

Use of Biodegradable Products : Tourists are encouraged to use biodegradable products such as sunblock, shampoo, and soap to minimize the impact on the environment.

No Drone Flying : The use of drones is not allowed in Boracay without prior approval from the authorities.

Compliance with Environmental Fees : Tourists are required to pay environmental fees, which are used for the preservation and management of Boracay’s natural resources.

It’s important to follow these regulations to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone and help preserve Boracay’s natural beauty for future generations to enjoy.

Boracay travel essentials

  • Capital : Kalibo, Aklan province
  • Flights : Easiest way to reach Boracay is through Caticlan (Godofredo P. Ramos Airport) and then take a short ferry ride to the island. Flight takes less than an hour from Manila or Cebu, and there are dozens leaving every day. A cheaper alternative is to fly to Kalibo, and then take an 80 minute van/bus drive to Caticlan.
  • Ferry :  The trip from  Batangas to Caticlan takes at least 20 hours, so we suggest you avoid it.
  • Getting around : The island is only 7 kilometers long so getting around should not be a problem at all. You can ride a tricycle, as renting your own scooter is much more expensive than anywhere else in the country (up to $100 per day!). You can also walk or ride a bicycle if you prefer to see the most of the local lifestyle.
  • Best time to visit : The weather is great all year round. Between July and December it can rain a bit, but you should still be able to catch some sun. Summer is between March and May when temperatures can reach 35° Celsius. During the high season (November to May) the island is packed with visitors and hotel prices go up significantly
  • Nightlife : Boracay has the best nightlife scene in the Philippines – just stroll up and down the 4km White beach strip and see for yourself! Pub crawl is a great way to  meet new friends.
  • Local festivals and holidays :   During Christian holidays and Chinese new year finding a place to stay could be difficult. Local festivals include Ati Atihan (January 2nd) – a celebration in honor of baby Jesus (Santo Niño), and the Yapak festival which presents the local Aklan traditions through music, dancing and food. The immensely popular LaBoracay party festival has been sadly cancelled following the island’s rehab project.

How to get there?

Reaching Boracay is only possible by air. You can choose between 2 airports: Kalibo International Airport or Caticlan Airport . Kalibo is 1-1.5 hours away from the Boracay port, while Caticlan is right next to it.

The reason people fly into Kalibo is that flight prices from Manila are usually much lower (around 65 USD). Flying to Caticlan can cost 2 times as much. If you’re planning a very short vacation in the Philippines you can also fly directly to Kalibo from several locations abroad (Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Seoul, and Hong Kong).

There are a few daily flights to both of these airports from Manila and Cebu. Recently, small boutique airlines have also started operating direct lines between Caticlan and Palawan. These flights typically cost more, but might be useful for those on a tight schedule. AirSwift has one daily flight from El Nido to Boracay. The alternate route is also available – leaving Boracay to El Nido.

Is Boracay the right place for your vacation?

Boracay is at the top of most people’s bucket list, and it’s there for a reason. Although many tourists visit this island all year round, you may still wonder whether if it’s the right choice for you. The table below compares Boracay with other popular picks, to help you better understand if you should include it in your plans.

  • Ease of reaching : Easy
  • Best time to visit : November to May
  • Best beaches
  • Nightlife : Best in the Philippines
  • Suitable for : Party, Couples, Groups
  • Ease of reaching : Moderate
  • Island hopping
  • Hidden lagoons
  • Nightlife : Almost none
  • Suitable for : Adventure, Romantic
  • Chocolate hills
  • Nightlife : Relaxed
  • Suitable for : Romantic, Family, Groups

Bohol is just as great, but more relaxed and much cheaper. Diving in Bohol is slightly better, and the snorkeling sites are superior. Plus, there is more to do on Bohol Island itself. Popular attractions include taking a river cruise, going to the Chocolate Hills, and visiting the Tarsier Sanctuary. Bohol is better for people who prefer an all inclusive vacation but want a less crowded atmosphere. For these reasons, Bohol is a better choice for family vacations. If you’re traveling on the low season, Bohol can be too quiet and empty, while Boracay will be have just the right amount of people.

Palawan on the other end is very difficult to compare as it’s a huge province offering a lot of diversity. To get a full idea of what Palawan is about visit our Palawan page . In short, Palawan is more difficult to get to and travel around in. Things are much less touristy and in order to get to one place from another you might have to spend 6-7 hours commuting. Prices in Palawan are of a wider range, and go from low budget to 5 star resorts, so in terms of variety it’s better than Boracay . If you must choose between the places discussed in this section, we feel that Boracay and Bohol are competing against one another, while Palawan is complimentary to both.

What to do in Boracay?

Our packages already cover all the must-see attractions in Boracay. However, you can still pick any of the specific day trips  listed below and simply add those to your cart. It is important to note that you can obtain most of these tours from independent vendors standing outside resorts or at the beach, but we advise against it because many will try to rip you off.

Your safety and enjoyment are our priority, and that is why we only work with honest, trustworthy service providers. We promise to be with you all throughout your trip and  handle any concern efficiently should it arise. Below, you can find a detailed overview of everything there is to do in Boracay. This should help you get a better idea of what type of activities you’d like to try out while staying there. For a breakdown of prices and complete itineraries, visit our Boracay day tour catalog .

Boracay Island hopping day tours

Puka beach at Boracay

Island hopping is a great way to fill up your days with sunny beaches and clear crystal waters. Most boat tours begin at  Puka beach , and for good reason. The beach is as beautiful as the white beach but much quieter. It is the perfect place to lie in the sun and relax while enjoying the spectacular views.

Just 20 minutes by boat from White beach lies Crocodile Island . The shallow and calm waters around it make the island one of the best snorkeling spot in the area. From there it’s only a 15 minute ride to Crystal cove – a small, beautiful island with 2 coves to explore. You can access the first cove in the main picnic area through a spiral staircase. The second cove is harder to reach as you need to crawl through a tunnel first.

Another great location packed with adventure, just 30 minutes from Boracay, is Ariel’s Point. Listed as one of the best cliff diving spots in the world, the small island is also a great place for snorkeling or kayaking across the quiet shoreline. Magic Island is a closer option for those looking to round up their island hopping tour with some excitement – with cliff jumps ranging from 3 to 10 meters high.

Paraw sailing across Boracay and watching the sunset is the perfect way to end your day. The Paraw is a traditional Filipino fishing boat, used by the locals long before the island became a tourist destination. Its narrow build allows the boat to navigate smoothly across the waves while you enjoy a great panoramic view of the White beach during sunset.

Paraw sailing

All tours and attractions can be added to your custom Boracay package or obtained individually. Just like all other services we offer, tours can be completely tailor made to meet your exact wishes. They typically include hotel pick-up, personal guide and meals. If there’s anything else you want added, just let us know in advance and we’ll take care of it.

Diving tours and other extreme activities

In a country considered to be among the top diving destinations in the world, Boracay is usually overshadowed by other islands. Comparing it to hardcore diving destinations doesn’t really do it justice – since admittedly the diving spots here are far less impressive. That doesn’t mean however that you can’t dive in Boracay, or that you wouldn’t enjoy it still.

Since tourism is so well developed it’s no problem finding a professional dive club with great instructors. In fact, Boracay might be one of the best places for beginners to dive at. You could try it out here – and then continue to other places for more advanced and challenging dives. If that sounds like a good idea, check our diving packages for more detailed suggestions on how to plan your itinerary.

There are no less than 15 different dive sites in Boracay – featuring colorful corals and fish, caves and tunnels. Each of these locations is great for beginners, although some do require you already obtain an open water certificate. If you don’t have it yet – consider taking the 3 day course at one of the most beautiful islands in the world. Alternatively, you could just book a introduction dive tour, which takes 3-4 hours and include 1 dive – no prior experience is required.

There are quite a few dive resorts scattered around the White beach area – with some of them even being high-end luxury resorts. If you consider obtaining your PADI certificate here, it might be a good idea to book a complete Boracay diving package and stay at one of these resorts. Another added bonus is that this way you’ll be able to join a group, meet new friends and even save some money along the way.

For complete beginners who don’t want to dive at all, Boracay’s helmet diving is the best alternative. You’ll be taken to the helmet diving floating platform (20min. ride), where a licensed PADI instructor will brief and accompany you throughout your dive. Helmet diving offers a unique opportunity to walk on the sea floor and meet colorful fish face to face.

Want to include any of these activities into your Boracay vacation? Book any of our packages and get the best possible deals!

Fun and adventure in Boracay focus almost entirely around its waters, as one might expect. Jet-skis, Banana boats and flyfish rides are easy to find around the White beach area, and are perfectly safe and fun for the entire family. Most resorts offer these activities as part of their all-inclusive package.

Another notable site at the other side of the island is the Bulabog beach. It is a less crowded area and contrary to the White beach, Bulabog enjoys strong winds all year round. This is perfect for extreme water sports activities. Bulabog is the best kite-surfing site in Asia and it attracts a lot of surfing enthusiasts. There are quite a few surfing schools in the area, some of them world renowned, who offer a full package – kite surfing, parasailing, water-skiing and wake-boarding lessons.

Zipline and cable car is another fantastic activity offering a memorable experience. It begins with a climb to Mt. Luho – the island’s highest peak (112m) and then descending through the forest all the way down to a quiet, stunning beach. It’s the perfect way to appreciate Boracay’s landscape from a unique viewpoint.

Boracay nightlife – best bars and clubs

Virtually all nightlife is at White Beach, with only a few bars to be found at Diniwid beach and Bulabog beach. People who stay outside White Beach probably do so since they prefer a more quiet environment – but you can easily garb a tricycle and get to the party within 10 minutes or so.

If you’re looking for a bar, there’s a live band playing and generally speaking, the vibe is very chill and people are friendly you can go to station 2 just by waking by the beach. As mentioned, station 2 is where most of the action is in White Beach. This is where you’ll find all the best nightclubs and beach parties. Clubs usually start off at around midnight, when people start pouring in from the surrounding bars. Epic is the the most popular and looks the best – so if you are looking for a wild, crowded party this is the place to go to.

Other noteworthy clubs include Summer place (more westerners and less locals), Club Paraw (local favorite) and Cocomangas. All these station 2 clubs have an entrance fee. They usually run until pass 12mn, although it can last a bit longer if the party is good. If you want to skip the entrance fee, go to station 3’s Boracay Stars instead. This club is entirely indoors and is the only one with an air-con as well. Not as crowded as the others, it’s still a great place to party and have some fun.

When it comes to bars, our suggestion would be to just take a stroll across the entire White Beach strip until you see something you like. There are dozens of different places to choose from, and each has its own unique vibe. Sports bars, rock bars, live bands, reggae bars, loud dance music and chill beach bars are what you can expect to see here. Most bars charge 1-2 USD for local beer, so it’s a great place to drink and hang out until the party starts. They all typically close around midnight or 1 am, but some stay open longer than that if there are enough clients.

Hi Dolores and thanks for leaving a comment!

It’s a bit hard to give good advice and an accurate quote with so little information. From example – where are you coming from and do you need help with booking flights? How many rooms do you want to have? Interested in day tours as well?

Would be better if you can take a few minutes and fill out our inquiry form here . One of our agents will go over it and get back to you with a detailed offer.

Can you help me find cheapest but a good beachfront hotel?1room for 2 pax, roundtrip airfare from manila, date would be feb.13,2019 till feb.16,2019?I want all taxes included like environmental tax and other fees included please.Kindly give me a quotation for this and comparison off there’s activities included and meals please.Thank you and have a lovely day.

Hi Patricia,

Please send an inquiry through our contact form. We would love to help you out, but some key information is missing.

Hi there, we a family of 8 or 13 will be in Boracay from the 24th to the 29th, we would like a quote on a private catamaran sunset trip, which would include a seafood lunch or give us the option of Halaal Indian food, what would this cost?

Thank you for your interest in our services. Please submit your inquiry through our contact form here for faster response.

Hello Travel East

I am planning to travel with my family. There will be 6 of us. My dad and mom are senior citizens (do you offer senior citizen discount?). Planning to stay for 3 days 2 nights. My family wants to stay in one family room with at least 3 double beds or as long as the room can accomodate 6 people. Arrival date will be August 16, 2019. Departure will be August 18, 2019 (airfare and hotel accomodation should be included). Roundtrip airfare from Manila to Boracay (vice versa). What is the best package rate you can offer?

Hi Rico and thank you for showing an interest in our services.

We do offer senior citizen discount but it depends on the policy of the hotel. Some hotels give a flat discount while others make the room VAT-free. For that reason, the price will vary based on the specific hotel you choose and it would be best if you discuss this directly with one of our agents.

Please leave an inquiry here , and our team will help you move forward with this vacation.

The wet season (May to October) brings occasional rain, but hey, it’s a tropical dance that keeps the island lush and green.

BORACAY TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS + How to Visit

BORACAY TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS + How to Visit

By continuing to read this article, you agree to double-check with the concerned establishments for the latest updates.

Boracay is one of the first destinations to re-open to tourists since the COVID-19 pandemic brought the tourism industry to a standstill. However, health and safety protocols are still in place. The local government units (LGUs) strictly implement these policies and require tourists to submit necessary documents prior to their trip.

We were able to visit Boracay a few times since the pandemic started and in this post, we’re documenting the process that we went through on our most recent visit. Here’s a step by step guide on what you need to do before your trip. Note that these travel protocols may change, so make sure to check for updates with the local government for good measure.

If you need a more visual Boracay guide, watch this video:

WHAT'S COVERED IN THIS GUIDE?

1. Complete the Boracay Travel Requirements.

Before we go to the specifics of each requirement, here’s a quick overview of the travel requirements for non-Aklanon TOURISTS visiting Boracay.

Take a good look at it so you know which ones you need to prioritize. In the pre-pandemic world, flights usually get taken care of first. But it may not always be the wisest way to go these days.

  • For Vaccinated Tourists: Proof of Vaccination. This can be any of the following: – VaxcertPH certification – locally-issued vaccination card with contact details of vaccination center – International Certification of Vaccination and Prophylaxis (ICV) from WHO – vaccination card or certificate issued abroad
  • For Unvaccinated or Partially Vaccinated Tourists: Negative RT-PCR test. Must be taken within 72 hours prior to departure. RT-PCR tests must be done by any of the accredited laboratories. You can find the list of accredited labs here .
  • For Children 12 years old or under: Certificate of Undertaking. Here’s a template.
  • Confirmed hotel or resort booking on the island. Make sure that you book a hotel with Certificate of Authority to Operate/Provisional Certificate of Authority to Operate from the Department of Tourism. You can check the list of hotels here: LIST OF OPERATIONAL HOTELS IN BORACAY .
  • Roundtrip transportation details
  • Valid ID (for local tourists) or passport (for foreign tourists)
  • Online Health Declaration Card (OHDC) . You will be accomplishing this online at Tourist Boracay website .
  • Tourist QR Code and copy of your Health Declaration Card. These will be sent to your e-mail if the processing is successful. Print or keep a digital copy of your Tourist QR Code and keep it with you at all times when you are in the island.

For tourists coming from Western Visayas: also submit the following:

  • If driving private vehicle, photo of the vehicle plate
  • If taking public transportation, accomplished Certificate of Undertaking. Template here.

2. Accomplish the Online Health Declaration Card (OHDC).

Tourist Boracay Website Homepage

  • Go to www.touristboracay.com and click Boracay on the homepage.
  • Fill out the form with all the required details and click Submit .

The form will ask you for info on your health, accommodations, and itinerary.

Boracay OHDC Form

You’ll also be asked to upload the requirements. More info in the next section.

3. Upload a copy of the requirements.

At the bottom of the same OHDC page, you’ll find a section for uploading of the required documents.

(Previously, the submission of requirements was done via email. In our case, we had to email to [email protected] and use the subject OHDC-Family Name, First Name. For example: OHDC-CARLOS-VINS. But it has since been integrated in the OHDC form.)

Here are the documents you need to upload:

Boracay OHDC Upload Requirements Section

Only JPG, PNG and PDF files smaller than 2 MB are allowed. If your file is bigger, you need to resize it first.

Make sure to send only valid documents. Keep in mind that falsification of documents is punishable by law.

Enter the CAPTCHA code and click SUBMIT.

4. Save your QR Code.

After submission of the requirements, the next page will present your unique OHDC QR code.

You may click the PREVIEW AND DOWNLOAD button to keep a copy of your QR code. You may print or take a screenshot of it.

Keep this QR Code with you at all times when traveling to and around the island. You’ll be presenting it at various points including the ports of entry and exit. In our experience, they check for the HDC and QR code as early as airport check in. They also asked for them at the gate, upon boarding.

If for whatever reason you didn’t get an OHDC QR code or you failed to save it, you must start a new application.

5. Check for updates from the validators.

While the OHDC QR code is generated automatically, your documents will still go through a manual validation process to check if they are all authentic and complete. If the validators have any concern with your submission, they will try to reach you via phone call, SMS or email.

If you’re asked to submit additional documents , you must comply by sending an email to [email protected] with the subject following this format: COMPLIANCE-LASTNAME,FIRSTNAME-DATEOFTRAVEL.
