The Weeknd Adds 2023 Tour Dates

The Weeknd wearing sunglasses

Just one day after bringing the first leg of his After Hours Til Dawn Tour to a close, the Weeknd has announced even more tour dates to come in the new year. The second leg begins in June 2023, and the trek runs through Europe and Latin America. Check out the Weeknd’s schedule below.

The Weeknd released his fifth studio album, Dawn FM , in January. The album was withheld from consideration for the 2023 Grammy Awards , continuing a boycott that started in 2021 after the Weeknd’s previous album, After Hours , failed to receive any Grammy nominations. Despite the boycott, the Weeknd won the 2022 Grammy Award for Best Melodic Rap Performance for his contributions to the Kanye West song “Hurricane.”

Elsewhere in The Weeknd news, Abel Tesfaye’s “Can’t Feel My Face” was officially certified Diamond last week . This is the artist’s fourth Diamond single (following “The Hills,” “Starboy,” and “Blinding Lights”), making him the third solo artist and fourth artist overall to reach the achievement. The single is from The Weeknd’s second studio album Beauty Behind the Madness and was his first single to reach No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

As Bianca Gracie explains in her feature on the track , “‘Can’t Feel My Face’ may have been the third single picked from Beauty Behind the Madness , but it remains the biggest. Gone was the murky, chilling production from The Weeknd’s mixtape days. For “Can’t Feel My Face,” The Weeknd called upon pop music’s legendary hitmaker Max Martin and Ali Payami (best known for his Grammy-winning work on Taylor Swift’s 1989). The two producers created a bouncy, vibrant melody that drew inspiration from one of The Weeknd’s biggest heroes, Michael Jackson .”

“‘He’s everything to me, so you’re going to hear it in my music,’ The Weeknd told the LA Times in 2016. “ Off The Wall was the album that inspired me to sing. It helped me find my [voice] … “Don’t Stop Till You Get Enough,” I kept singing that, and I found my falsetto.”

The Weeknd’s upcoming 2023 dates follow his sold-out North American After Hours Til Dawn Tour , which recently concluded with two nights in Los Angeles.

Throughout the year, The Weeknd dished out alternate versions of Dawn FM tracks, including “ Out of Time ,” “How Do I Make You Love Me?” and “ Best Friend ,” to name a few.

Kaytranada remixed variations for the first track, while Summer Walker joined The Weeknd for the latter standout.

-he interacted with the crowd

-he sings AMAZING live

-chill atmosphere

-performers/musicians were smoking weed on stage

-Abel took a longgg time to get on stage, we were there for almost two hours before he did

-crowd was very drunk & rude (not his fault)

-merchandise was very expensive (I payed $40 for a t-shirt)

This review might not be completely objective as Abel has been my favourite singer for a few years now. However, I can definitely admit the Starboy tour date in Paris was the best pop concert I've been to this year. Even though some songs could have been put out of the tracklist, he mostly sang his catchiest songs of his career, no matter the era. He has great, or should I say, tremendous energy as he continuously sang twenty-something songs with no pause in between. He has no trouble reaching high notes live, his voice sounding even more heavenly in real life. That night, he invited Travis Scott on stage who pumped up the crowd more than him, which is a shame and showcases very well his lack of success and recognition in France, yet, in a sold out stadium. Most people actually didn't even know his real name or the lyrics of his songs ! I would recommend any "real fan" who has known him for a while or who likes his last album a lot to go to a Starboy tour date. I promise you, you won't regret it.

elisa-gyn’s profile image

The concert was absolutely stunning. A starship was used and the lights were coordinated very well. Abel sang amazingly in person and I loved jumping up and down screaming with other members of the audience while he sang. The concert was truly magical and I enjoyed every second Abel stood on stage.

As for the other singers who appeared on stage, I was very satisfied with their singing as well. They did an amazing job and captured the entire audience. In between Abel's music, the other singers such as Lil Uzi and 6lack played their hits on stage and the whole crowd became even more alive. If I the concert played out any other way, I'm sure I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as this concert.

The Weeknd Announces 2023 European and Latin American Tour Dates

Jacob Uitti

The Weeknd has announced a string of 2023 European and Latin American tour dates for his upcoming 2023 After Hours Til Dawn stadium tour.

Videos by American Songwriter

The Diamond-certified artist’s announcement comes as an expansion of his recently-concluded North American tour. The European leg of the shows will kick off on June 10 in Manchester, UK at Etihad Stadium. Other stops include shows in Stockholm, Amsterdam, Mexico City, Rio de Janeiro, and more. The tour ends on October 15 in Estadio Bicentenario de La Florida.

Kaytranada and Mike Dean will join The Weeknd on all European dates.  More dates for 2023 will be announced soon, according to a press statement.

The Weeknd’s North American tour generated $130 million, including a $5 million check the artist donated to charity.

According to the press statement, “United Nations World Food Programme Goodwill Ambassador Abel ‘The Weeknd’ Tesfaye will again partner with the U.N. World Food Programme to contribute funds from the second leg of the tour to the XO Humanitarian Fund, which supports the organization’s response to the unprecedented global hunger crisis. €1 from each ticket sold across Europe, £1 in the UK and the $1 equivalent in countries across Latin America will go to this important cause.

“The fund raised money during the North American leg of the tour through ticket sales, proceeds from an exclusive tour t-shirt, and a $500,000 donation directly from The Weeknd. The Weeknd’s corporate partners, tour venues, World Food Program USA board of directors and supporters also stepped up to contribute, as well as tour sponsor Binance, who contributed US$2 million to the fund.

“We are deeply appreciative and humbled by The Weeknd’s steadfast support, as well as that of his loyal fans and partners,” said Barron Segar, World Food Program USA president and CEO. “Abel is an inspiration to us all, and through his efforts, thousands of families will have food security and hope for a better future.”

“On stage and off stage, The Weeknd is bringing hope and happiness to millions of people across the globe,” said David Beasley, WFP executive director. “His inspirational XO Humanitarian Fund is a new dawn in the struggle to end global hunger at a time when we are seeing funding shrink and the threat of famine grow. As WFP’s Global Goodwill Ambassador, he is opening hearts and minds to our life-saving cause and offering millions the chance of a brighter tomorrow.”

The upcoming tour celebrates The Weeknd’s 2020 album, After Hours ( hit single “Blinding Lights” was named the new No. 1 Billboard Hot 100 song of all time, surpassing Chubby Checker’s 1960 hit “The Twist”), as well as his critically-acclaimed album Dawn FM , which was released January 2022.

Tate McRae and The Weeknd Land New Singles in the Top 20 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100

The two canadian popstars are notching strong debuts this week, with mcrae's "it's ok i'm ok" arriving at no. 12 and the weeknd's "dancing in the flames" at no. 15..

Tate McRae

Two Canadian stars have strong debuts on their home charts this week. Tate McRae and The Weeknd have both landed in the top 20 on the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 with their new singles.

McRae's "It's ok I'm ok," arrives at No. 12, eight spots higher than its placement at No. 20 on the U.S. Hot 100 chart. The single continues McRae's Y2K throwback aesthetic, drawing on mid-2000s Pussycat Dolls and Britney Spears. The video has racked up nearly 10 million views in under two weeks.

It's a good sign for Tate McRae, who's showing her continued chart prowess after last year's "Greedy" went to No. 1 on both the Canadian and American Hot 100.

advertisement

The Weeknd, meanwhile, is throwing things back a little further, with his new single "Dancing in the Flames" leaning into '80s synths and percussion. The song, which arrives at No. 15 on the Canadian Hot 100 — and No. 14 in the U.S. — is the first single from his upcoming sixth album, Hurry Up Tomorrow. The upbeat track is accompanied by a dark video, which finds The Weeknd driving through a storm and eventually caught in a car wreck.

Elsewhere on the charts, Shaboozey holds onto No. 1 for the 17th week — he only has three more to go before he breaks the record for longest-running No. 1, currently held by Lil Nas X. Billboard Canada presented him with an award at his Toronto concert honouring the impressive run.

Playboi Carti debuts "All Red" at No. 17, Teddy Swims lands some "Bad Dreams" at No. 63, and the Charli XCX and Troye Sivan collab "Talk Talk" debuts at No. 66, amidst their joint headlining tour .

Over on the albums chart , Sabrina Carpenter notches a fourth week at No. 1, and Avril Lavigne's Greatest Hits re-enters at No. 72 as the Canadian pop icon wraps up her tour of the same name.

Zach McPhee receives the cheque for $25,000 for SiriusXM's Top of the Country 2024 in Edmonton.

The B.C. singer-songwriter was crowned as the winner in Edmonton at Country Music Week. The emerging country artist reflects on the life-changing support of SiriusXM’s program.

PARTNER CONTENT

SiriusXM’s Top of the Country has crowned its 2024 winner: Zach McPhee.

The Okanagan, B.C. singer-songwriter won Canada’s preeminent emerging country artist search last week at Country Music Week in Edmonton, and it’s already opening doors for him. This week, RLive , the management division of Boots and Hearts festival promoter Republic Live, announced they were signing him.

For McPhee, the Top of the Country journey has given him so much valuable experience that it’s almost hard to measure.

“From where I started in this competition to where I am now, I feel like I'm a completely different artist," he says. “I'm so much more comfortable on stage, and being able to deep dive into the industry, now I really understand what it takes to be a pro artist. It’s such an amazing platform that gives artists a chance to be heard.”

Top of the Country is an embodiment of the support SiriusXM has provided for Canadian artists for nearly two decades. As part of the process from the first coast-to-coast talent callout to the public vote and final competition, the artists have been given unique mentorship, showcase and industry experience opportunities.

“Championing artists and supporting their growth is at the core of SiriusXM values, and this competition is the pinnacle of our efforts in country music in Canada," says Michelle Mearns, Vice President of Programming and Operations at SiriusXM Canada.

Zach McPhee is still early in his public career, but country has been in his blood since he was young. As a child, he attended speech therapy and singing was used as a technique. He’s been a hockey player his whole life, but decided to start recording and releasing music publicly just last year. Top of the Country has accelerated the whole process.

McPhee gushes about his experience playing at the major country festival Lasso Montreal and at the spotlight stage at CMA Fest. That was his very first time visiting Nashville, where he also participated in a songwriting bootcamp. The performances marked some of his first full-band shows.

Throughout the process, he says, he learned a valuable lesson that fits the authentic and personal outlook that makes him stand out in the first place.

“Talking to people who have been involved in industry for so long, it kept coming back to the number one thing: making sure you're staying true to yourself,” he says. “That was so cool to hear, because at the end of the day, I believe that people when they see you perform something and they know you believe in it, it'll kind of sell itself.”

That comes through in his live performance video of “Remind Me Again,” which he recorded as part of Top of the Country in Vancouver. You can see and hear his relatable conviction as he sings the lovelorn lyrics.McPhee recorded the song in March, only a week before he and his partner were expecting their first born child.

“It was a little bit nerve-wracking to leave home that close to our baby’s due date, but everything played out great,” he says.

His baby was a month old when he got the call from SiriusXM telling him he had been selected as one of three finalists alongside Trudy and Robert Adam, who both won $10,000 as runners-up. That came after public voting and stiff competition, and when it was all said and done McPhee had won $25,000 and some unforgettable experiences.

“It's a life-changing program,” says McPhee. “I'll forever be very, very grateful and thankful.”

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is the first tour to gross over $1 billion, Pollstar says

Pollstar also found that taylor swift brought in approximately $200 million in merch sales, by maria sherman | associated press • published december 8, 2023 • updated on december 8, 2023 at 4:32 pm.

Taylor Swift's Eras Tour is the first tour to cross the billion-dollar mark, according to Pollstar's 2023 year-end charts.

Not only was Swift's landmark Eras Tour the No. 1 tour both worldwide and in North America, but she also brought in a whopping $1.04 billion with 4.35 million tickets sold across 60 tour dates, the concert trade publication found.

Pollstar data is pulled from box office reports, venue capacity estimates, historical Pollstar venue ticket sales data, and other undefined research, collected from Nov. 17, 2022 to Nov. 15, 2023.

Representatives for the publication did not immediately clarify if they adjusted past tour data to match 2023 inflation in naming Swift the first to break the billion-dollar threshold.

Pollstar also found that Swift brought in approximately $200 million in merch sales and her blockbuster film adaptation of the tour, “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour,” has reportedly earned approximately $250 million in sales, making it the highest-grossing concert film of all time.

According to their estimates, Pollstar predicts a big 2024 for Swift as well. The magazine projects the Eras Tour will once again reach $1 billion within their eligibility window, meaning Swift is likely to bring in over $2 billion over the span of the tour.

A game show based on ‘Friends' is in the works

Worldwide, Swift's tour was followed by Beyoncé in second, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band in third, Coldplay in fourth, Harry Styles in fifth, and Morgan Wallen, Ed Sheeran, Pink, The Weeknd and Drake.

In North America, there was a similar top 10: Swift, followed by Beyoncé, Morgan Wallen, Drake, P!nk, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Ed Sheeran, George Strait, Karol G, and RBD.

Beyond the Swift of it all, 2023 was a landmark year for concert sales: worldwide, the top 100 tours of the year saw a 46% jump from last year, bringing in $9.17 billion compared to 2022's $6.28 billion.

In North America, that number jumped from $4.77 billion last year to $6.63 billion.

Earlier this week, Swift was named Time Magazine's Person of the Year. Last month, Apple Music named her its artist of the year; Spotify revealed she was 2023’s most-streamed artist globally, raking in more than 26.1 billion streams since Jan. 1 and beating Bad Bunny's three-year record.

Get Ready For The GRAMMY U Fall Summit With Charli XCX & Troye Sivan

Held Sept. 30 and Oct. 1, the GRAMMY U Fall Summit Presented by Mastercard will feature an evening of performances and networking, as well as a keynote panel with GRAMMY-nominated artists Charli XCX and Troye Sivan.

GRAMMY U is headed to Nashville for its second annual Fall Summit . The two-day Summit will feature a dynamic lineup of performers and speakers, including a keynote from GRAMMY-nominated artists Charli XCX and Troye Sivan .

A cornerstone of the GRAMMY U program, Summit attendees will participate in a curated networking session followed by a live showcase featuring performances from a GRAMMY U member and a surprise closing artist. The feature program, held on day two of the Summit, will dive into the ins and outs of marketing an album, with a conversation between Charli XCX and Troye Sivan about their influence on pop culture.

Kicking off the Summit on Monday, Sept. 30, the GRAMMY U Showcase will feature Nashville-based artist Soccer Mommy as the headliner, with supporting sets from GRAMMY U member performers Keearah and Mille Manny from Tennessee State University. After the show concludes, attendees will have the opportunity to network with industry professionals from the Recording Academy, Amazon Music, Mastercard, and elsewhere.

On Tuesday, Oct. 1, the GRAMMY U Fall Summit will feature two exciting livestreamed panels. The first panel, titled #Trendsetters, will highlight industry professionals in discussion about innovative album marketing strategies. The closing keynote conversation will be moderated by Leland, a songwriter and frequent collaborator of Charli XCX and Troye Sivan.

While the showcase is only open to GRAMMY U members and will not be available digitally, the panels will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch on Oct. 1 at 6 p.m. CT. Read on for more details on what to expect from the GRAMMY U Fall Summit — whether you're attending in person or online.

He recently completed the European leg of his Something To Give Each Other Tour, and kicked off his SWEAT Tour on Sept. 14 with close friend and collaborator, Charli XCX.

A dance to Charli's song "Apple" has gone viral on TikTok and though it may just seem catchy, the lyrics are embedded with a deeper meaning related to generational trauma. Check out the GRAMMY U Representatives dancing along below:

In partnership with the Recording Academy’s Songwriters and Composer's Wing , the keynote panel will feature Charli XCX and Troye Sivan discussing their co-headlining SWEAT tour and how they became pop culture phenomena as trendsetters, or as Charli puts it," [I’m] your favorite reference."

Charli and Sivan will be in conversation during a keynote panel moderated by GRAMMY U alumni Leland, a Golden Globe-nominated songwriter, executive producer, and DJ. Leland is Troye Sivan’s main collaborative partner, having co-written all previous albums with Troye (including nine out of 10 songs on Something to Give Each Other ). Charli XCX — "Talk talk featuring Troye Sivan"

“Talk talk” and it’s completely different but also still “Talk talk.” Charli XCX puts an earworm of a period on " Brat summer" by tapping bestie Troye Sivan to help totally reinvent the Brat fan favorite.

The new version is a tale of two flirtations, with Charli teasing a new fling to “talk to me in French/ Talk to me in Spanish/ Talk to me in your own made-up language” while Troye offers up an extravagant — and rather explicit — invitation to someone who’s about to have quite a good time with him in an Amsterdam hotel room.

Following Charli’s recent buzzy collabs with Lorde (“ The girl, so confusing version with lorde ”) and Billie Eilish (“ Guess ”), the latest remix off the pop star’s smash, zeitgeist-defining LP is a pitch-perfect amuse-bouche to her and Troye’s upcoming Sweat Tour, which kicks off Sept. 14 in Detroit.

GRAMMY U Members will have an exclusive opportunity to catch Charli XCX and Troye Sivan together at the 2024 GRAMMY U Fall Summit on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in Nashville, sponsored by Mastercard and Amazon Music.

The Weeknd — “Dancing In The Flames”

Just days after revealing the title of his highly anticipated sixth studio album, Hurry Up Tomorrow , The Weeknd offers the first taste of it with the lead single, “Dancing In The Flames.”

The pulsating track lands right in the 4-time GRAMMY winner’s sweet spot of synth-drenched, blissed out R&B while revving up the tempo as he catapults toward loves destruction, singing, “I can’t wait to see your face / Crash when we’re switching lanes / My love’s beyond the pain/ But if I miss the brake / We’re dancing in the flames / It’s indescribable.”

The cinematic music video sends the singer into a kinetic, head-on collision, and the entire rain-soaked, colorful saga was shot on the new iPhone 16 Pro.

Tate McRae — “It’s ok I’m ok”

Still riding high off the success of her 2023 sophomore album Think Later , Tate McRae enters a new era with her latest single, “it’s ok i’m ok.” Building on the momentum of hits like “Greedy” and “Exes,” the song (released on Sept. 12) finds the Canadian pop star's ability to balance an unbothered attitude in the spoken word chorus with floaty, sensual falsetto verses.

The music video is a risqué romp through the chaos of New York City, complete with showstopping choreography from the 21-year-old Calgary native. The visuals pay homage to Britney Spears — a style McRae also referenced at Wednesday night’s MTV Video Music Awards, where she wore a sheer lace dress reminiscent of Spears’ iconic look from the 2001 VMAs.

Brantley Gilbert — 'Tattoos'

Brantley Gilbert inks another portrait of small-town country life on his seventh album, Tattoos . Lead single “Over When We’re Sober,” featuring Ashley Cooke, is among several collaborations on the LP. Other stand out duets include the whistling opener “Dirty Money” with Justin Moore ; the patriotic country-rap hybrid  “Me and My House” featuring Struggle Jennings and Demun Jones; and the soaring “God Isn’t Country” with Rascal Flatts ' Gary LeVox .

Taylor Acorn — "Nervous System"

Taylor Acorn gets bright and brash on her debut album Survival In Motion . The rising pop-punk singer confronts a range of personal struggles, from battling mental illness and imposter syndrome on the energetic title track to brushing off the haters in “High Horse” and escaping a controlling relationship in “Greener.” All of this unfolds against a backdrop of hard-charging guitars, crashing drums and refreshingly candid songwriting.

Jordin Sparks — 'No Restrictions'

Nearly four years after her last full-length, 2020’s holiday-themed Cider & Hennessy , Jordin Sparks returns with her new album, No Restrictions .

The "American Idol" champ remains true to her R&B roots on her fifth studio album. Tracks like the surprise pre-release single “Remember,” along with standouts like “Forever” featuring T-Pain , “Where There’s Smoke…,” the Stonebwoy-assisted “No Cry” and the bumping “YCFWM,” show off her luminous voice with a surprising amount of swagger.

JVKE & Nick Jonas — “this is what forever feels like”

JVKE and Nick Jonas have been teasing their new collaboration to eager fans for what feels like forever, but the wait was well worth it for the swooningly romantic track. Each singer takes a turn daydreaming about a love that will stand the test of time, lasting “until [they’re] 70.”

After JVKE, the “golden hour” crooner, recounts his first heartbreak at 17, Jonas steps in with a sweet and sultry verse that’s clearly dedicated to his wife of nearly six years, Priyanka Chopra, singing, “Baby, I’m so into you / I’ve lived a thousand lives/ can’t go a single night / Without you.”

as1one — ”All Eyes On Us (feat. Nile Rodgers)"

Fresh off walking the red carpet at the MTV VMAs, multicultural boy band as1one launch their bid for pop stardom with debut single, “All Eyes On Us.” The Israeli-Jewish and Palestinian-Arab sextet get an assist from Nile Rodgers on the funky dance floor anthem, which finds the group soaking up the spotlight as they sing, “It’s like the whole world’s watching / We gonna dance like we’re all on an mission / All eyes on us!”

Later this year, prospective fans will get a deeper look into as1one's formation, artistry, and message of unity through a four-episode docuseries on Paramount+.

Suki Waterhouse — 'Memoir of a Sparklemuffin'

“This isn’t Fashion Week!” an enraged director screams early in the music video for Suki Waterhouse’s latest single, “Model, Actress, Whatever.” From that moment on, the English It Girl and indie pop darling proves yet again that walking the runway is just one of her many talents as she sings, “All of my dreams came true / The bigger the ocean, the deeper the blue / Call me a model, an actress, whatever / Other half of my baby, we stay together.”

The deeply personal track arrived just days before Waterhouse unveiled her sophomore studio album, Memoir of a Sparklemuffin , which also includes previously released singles “To Love,” “OMG,” “My Fun,” “Faded,” “Supersad,” and “Blackout Drunk.”

Ronnie Dunn and Ira Dean — “Tele-Man feat. Vince Gill, John Osborne and Brent Mason"

Ronnie Dunn and Ira Dean assemble an all-star cast of collaborators for their new single “Tele-Man” featuring Vince Gill , John Osborne and Brent Mason . Together, the five musicians create a modern-day homage to The Traveling Wilburys as they unravel an ode to one of country music’s most iconic instruments: the Telecaster guitar.

With Mason playing the titular role of “Tele-Man” on the instrument, his collaborators string out an energetic, deliriously tongue-twisting yarn that name drops everyone from Merle Haggard , Willie Nelson and Waylon Jennings to Johnny Cash , Jerry Reed and Patsy Cline before giving illustrious credit to the “finger-lickin’, chicken pickin’ Tele-Man” behind all the greats.

Jasmine Gordon | Atlanta

What are you most looking forward to this year as a GRAMMY U Representative?

I am particularly excited about the opportunity to connect with other like-minded GRAMMY U Representatives and to build meaningful relationships with peers who share my passion for music.

Who is a music industry creator or professional that inspires you and why?

A music industry professional who truly inspires me is Jessie Allen, GRAMMY U’s Managing Director. Her unwavering dedication and the passion she pours into the GRAMMY U program are truly admirable and motivate me to make a meaningful impact in this field.

What is your favorite genre of music and why?

R&B has always held a special place in my heart; it’s a genre that speaks to the soul and captures the depth of human emotion in a way that few others can. The rich history and evolution of R&B inspire me both personally and professionally.

Jim Slife

Jim Slife | Chicago

Jim is studying at DePaul University as a Communications and Media major. This is his first year as a GRAMMY U Representative.

I am so excited to collaborate and get to know more GRAMMY U members both inside and outside of the Chicago chapter. I would love to hear member’s thoughts and ideas on how we can further engage with the music community, so please do not hesitate to reach out to me!

In today's music scene, I love to see how artists continue to push beyond the categories of genre and blend different influences to make their own unique sound. From Beyoncé ’s “Cowboy Carter” to Clairo 's "Charm,” I admire the way artists are not afraid to combine genres of the past and future to create some of the most exciting albums of this year.

I am so inspired by my fellow GRAMMY U members and alumni. Seeing young professionals grow and shine as they take the initial steps into their careers is very motivating to me and makes me so thankful to be part of such a wonderful community!

Adyna Silverberg

Adyna Silverberg | Florida

Adyna is studying at the University of Miami as a Music Industry major. This is her first year as a GRAMMY U Representative.

My favorite genres of music are a tie between pop and dance music. Pop music will never get old to me because I’ve grown up listening to it my whole life and it has shaped me into the person and artist I am today. Recently, I’ve grown a love for EDM because it always puts me in a great mood and has created a vibrant community.

What is your dream career in the music industry and why?

Currently, my dream career in the music industry would be in A&R because I love finding and listening to new artists, and I hope to shape them into the artist they want to become. I have the most experience in this field, but I am very interested in exploring other avenues in the music industry such as artist or business management, marketing, and live events!

If you could plan a GRAMMY U event centered around any music creator or professional, who would it be and why?

I would love to plan a GRAMMY U event centered around John Summit because he seemingly gained a social media following overnight and his “work hard, play hard” mindset is extremely inspiring. In his most recent album, “Comfort in Chaos,” he sonically explained all of the ups and downs in life while traveling on tour, working on new music, and prioritizing mental health. There are countless students who look up to him as an artist, producer, and record label owner especially in Miami.

Joslyn Bowman

Joslyn Bowman  | Los Angeles

Joslyn is in her third year at the USC Thornton School of Music as a Music Business major. This is her first year as a GRAMMY U Representative.

Recently, I have been obsessed with listening to folk music! I have been listening to a lot of Noah Kahan because his lyrics always tell such meaningful stories, and his music has the power to reach so many people’s hearts around the world in a way that I’ve never seen before.

My dream career in the music industry is to become a lawyer. When I started studying the music industry, I became aware of the many injustices and problems that artists and other professionals face. I hope to use my knowledge to support music industry professionals who have faced unfair treatment and to emphasize the importance of education regarding the rules and laws surrounding this industry.

I would love to plan an event centered around Sylvia Rhone and all of the incredible work that she’s done within the music industry. As the first black female CEO of a record label, Sylvia Rhone has been a trailblazer for women and people of color in the music industry, and she has proved that anyone can be successful regardless of their background which is so inspiring to me. Hearing about her journey and the obstacles she had to overcome would be a dream come true!

Shannon Conte

Shannon Conte | Memphis

Shannon is a Business Management major at Tulane University. This is her second year as a GRAMMY U Representative.

I love R&B and all the genres that fit under the umbrella of R&B. The genre constantly surprises me and keeps me finding more musicians I enjoy. I think I resonate most with the lyrics of R&B songs. I also find myself drawn to the vocals more-so than any other genre.

I aspire to work in artist management, starting my own management company and growing it from the ground up. I believe my unique skill set and personality will aid me in becoming a successful artist manager.

Who is a music industry creator or professional that inspires you and why?

I am inspired most by Julie Greenwald, a Tulane alumni who found immense success as a music industry executive. Her charisma and drive has paved the way for aspiring female music professionals, hence why she is such an idol to me.

Adren Gilmore

Adren Gilmore | Nashville

Adren is studying Commercial Music at Tennessee State University. This is his first year as a GRAMMY U Representative.

I am most looking forward to expanding my network of peers as a GRAMMY U Representative this year. As a member of the next generation of music industry leaders, I will have the opportunity to make firsthand connections with an expansive and like-minded community in this role.

My favorite musical genre is funk because it emphasizes grooves and rhythmic basslines. Funk has a rich history as it emerged from post-Jim Crow Black America, symbolizing Black Pride and "Unapologetic Blackness," which inspires my music and artistic identity.

If I could plan a Grammy U event around any creator, it would undoubtedly be the late musical icon Prince. His career is a masterclass in tenacity and smart business decisions, offering invaluable lessons for today's artists and GRAMMY U members alike.

India Sahai

India Sahai | New York

India is studying at Fordham University to pursue her masters in Media Management. This is her first year as a GRAMMY U Representative.

As one of this year’s GRAMMY U Representatives, I look forward to collaborating with my fellow Reps to curate a memorable year filled with exciting new events and opportunities for our members!

My favorite genre is singer-songwriter, which is a versatile style that focuses on personal, emotional storytelling through music. I appreciate when singer-songwriters construct a narrative that builds through the verses of the song.

My dream career in the industry is to work in A&R at a record label. I would love to be able to scout and discover artists and then provide the support needed to develop and grow throughout their entire career.

Jenia Viles

Jenia Viles | Pacific Northwest

Jenia is studying at Seattle University as a Business Management Major. This is her first year as a GRAMMY U Representative.

I’m beyond excited to continue cultivating our passionate community full of emerging music industry creatives and professionals. I’m looking forward to building meaningful relationships with my Pacific Northwest Chapter members and with my fellow Representatives. It’s going to be so great to connect with other people who are interested in finding work within the music industry!

I listen to many different genres of music, so it’s hard to pick one (how original…ha!), but if I had to choose, I’d definitely say Neo-soul because it’s a fusion of my favorite musical genres: R&B, Jazz, and Hip-Hop. Listening to Neo-soul puts my mind at ease! Some notable Neo-soul artists that I love listening to include Erykah Badu , Lauryn Hill , D’Angelo , Musiq Soulchild, and Maxwell , to name a few.

I’m still figuring out my dream career in the music industry, though I’ve always been passionate about the creative production side of the music industry as I have always been fascinated with the artistic processes of music producers such as the Neptunes or Salaam Remi. I’ve also considered the A&R side of the industry and would be interested in working with and forming connections with an artist or working directly for a label.

Jada Bromberg

Jada Bromberg  | Philadelphia

Jada is studying at Temple University with majors in Audio & Live Entertainment and Communication Studies. This is her first year as a GRAMMY U Representative.

Indie pop is my favorite genre because of its simplicity and the artists' emphasis on storytelling through lyrics. I’m particularly drawn to songs that resonate with me on a personal level.

Singer-songwriter Anson Seabra inspires me with his raw, emotional lyrics. For many years, his music has been a source of comfort and strength, helping me get through some of my most challenging times.

I would plan a GRAMMY U event featuring PLESTED, a singer and songwriter renowned for co-writing songs for artists such as Lewis Capaldi , Little Mix, Kygo , James Arthur , and Anne-Marie . I am eager to learn more about his career — both his songwriting work for other artists and his own accomplishments as a talented musician.

Izzy Hory

Izzy Hory | San Francisco

Izzy is in her second year at the University of California, Berkeley as a Political Science major. This is her first year as a GRAMMY U Representative.

As a GRAMMY U Representative, I’m excited to plan and take part in both local and national events, showcasing the countless opportunities available in the music industry to students and non-students alike. I’m also looking forward to facilitating GRAMMY U SoundChecks and collaborating with the amazing team that drives this organization forward.

Indie music is my favorite genre. It captures so much raw talent and passion. I can listen to it anytime, anywhere, and constantly discover new artists. I love the genuine energy of the indie scene, and seeing these artists perform live in small, intimate venues is an experience you just can’t beat.

While I'm still exploring what careers the music industry offers, I've always been drawn to the role of a music supervisor. I have a playlist for every mood, moment, and memory, and I'd love the opportunity to channel that passion into curating soundtracks. Music has such a powerful impact, and it would be incredible to create a soundtrack that highlights underrated artists while helping execute a story.

Ily Aguilar

Ily Aguilar | Texas

Ily is studying at Texas State University as a Public Relations major. This is her first year as a GRAMMY U Representative.

As a GRAMMY U Representative, I am particularly excited about coordinating GRAMMY U SoundChecks. Over the past two years, every SoundChecks I've attended has been an invaluable learning experience, deepening my understanding of the music industry. I'm definitely thrilled for the Texas Chapter to experience a new year of incredible artists!

A music industry professional who inspires me is Meg Miller, Lainey Wilson ’s tour manager. After hearing her story and advice at the 2023 GRAMMY U Fall Summit in Nashville, I’ve been in awe of her ever since. Tour management is a career path in the music industry that I’m particularly interested in, and Meg Miller truly embodies the qualities of a girl boss and a successful young professional.

While I consider myself an enthusiast of every music genre, my favorite has to be Alternative/Folk. With artists like Noah Kahan , Hozier , Mt. Joy, and The Moss frequently topping my playlists, I definitely gravitate towards the Alternative/Folk sound. This genre resonates with me on a deep level, and I truly connect with the passion behind the music.

Shaneel Young

Shaneel Young | Washington D.C.

Shaneel is studying at Howard University as a Business Marketing major. This is her second year as a GRAMMY U Representative.

This year, I’m excited to see GRAMMY U continue its growth, especially with the expansion of membership going into its second year of programming. I’m also eagerly anticipating GRAMMY Week 2025 — after last year's unforgettable experience, I can't wait for what’s to come!

My favorite genre of music is R&B. As someone who grew up in church listening and singing to soulful gospel music, R&B shares some of those same nostalgic elements.

I would plan an Up Close and Personal event with Coco Jones . While she is a current hit R&B vocalist and actor, Coco has been transparent about her history of challenges in the music industry. I believe sharing her journey with GRAMMY U Members would be extremely inspiring and stand true to the fact that persistence and patience are key!

Della Anderson

Della Anderson | National Membership

Della is studying Songwriting at Belmont University along with minors in Public Relations and Fashion Studies. This is her second year as a GRAMMY U Representative.

I'm most looking forward to getting to meet as many current and future GRAMMY U Members as I can. While I love the events we hold, it's the relationships I've made throughout my time in GRAMMY U that have changed my life the most.

I love the singer-songwriter genre because as a songwriter myself, I have a deep appreciation for the bones of a song. Anyone that can make a guitar and vocals seem compelling is an exceptional storyteller and musician in my eyes.

I would absolutely love to do a GRAMMY U event centered around either Chappell Roan or Sabrina Carpenter because it’s empowering to see other women succeeding in music, and watching them both grow into their current look and style has been captivating to me. I also appreciate live vocals that blow my socks off, and I think they both knock it out of the park.

Sam Kopec | National Projects

Sam is a Music Business major at the University of Miami. This is her second year as a GRAMMY U Representative.

I aspire to become an entertainment lawyer or work in the publishing area of the music industry. I find intellectual property rights and regulations extremely interesting and aim to use my knowledge to advocate for artists as technology continues to evolve.

I am most inspired by music industry executive, Jody Gerson . She was the first female CEO of a major music publisher, and her work included managing some of the most expansive and impactful song catalogs. I appreciate her ambition, focus on building authentic relationships, and appreciation for the songwriters and composers who drive the music industry forward.

I would love to spotlight Jack Antonoff in a GRAMMY U event! He is an eleven time GRAMMY-winning producer working with some of the biggest stars in the industry and some of my favorite artists including Taylor Swift , Lorde , and Lana Del Rey . I would be interested to hear how his approach differs while working with each artist to let their vision and unique sound shine through as well as his strategy for balancing work with own band, Bleachers. I believe Antonoff’s immense technical knowledge and creativity would provide valuable insight to emerging artists.
