Def Leppard & Motley Crue’s Stadium Tour Earns $173.5 Million

The trek -- which sold 1.3 million tickets -- is now the biggest of either band's career, dating back to the late 1980s.

Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder Describes 'Frightening' Illness That Forced Show Cancellations as…

Supporting acts included Joan Jett & the Blackhearts and Poison . The Stadium Tour was promoted by Live Nation.

Hitting a career-high was inevitable, as it was both acts’ first run in stadiums. The hottest market on the co-headline tour was Boston, where a double-header at Fenway Park on Aug. 5-6 earned $9.3 million and sold 64,000 tickets. As for single-night earnings, they broke the $6 million threshold in Charlotte, N.C.; Denver; Glendale, Ariz; and Inglewood, Calif.

Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe are two of the most successful rock bands of the ‘80s and ‘90s but neither band has had a Billboard Hot 100 hit this century, and were averaging less than 5,000 tickets each around the turn of the millennium. So how did they join forces for one of the biggest tours of the year?

Their co-headline power proves that one plus one equals five-or-so, akin to the exponential effect of Green Day , Fall Out Boy and Weezer coming together on last year’s Hella Mega Tour.

Both Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe had previously peaked as solo headliners in arenas and amphitheaters with 10,000-11,000 tickets per show on both sides of the Atlantic. The Stadium Tour averaged 37,520 tickets each night, hitting more than three times the audience that each band previously reached on their own.

Def Leppard experienced something similar on its last co-headline jaunt, breaking one million tickets alongside Journey in the summer of 2018. But despite playing nearly half the number of shows, this year’s Stadium Tour grossed almost twice as much, and pushed an additional 300,000 tickets.

Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe toured together in Europe in 2011, but the limited reporting for that brief run shows $705,000 and 11,000 tickets in Manchester, less than a third the attendance and about one seventh the gross of the average show on their second go-around 11 years later.

Combined with increased attendance, surging ticket prices had something to do with it. The Stadium Tour’s grosses, both nightly and total, far surpass any previous tour history by either act. On a proper headline tour, Def Leppard nor Mötley Crüe had averaged more than $1 million per show. But on The Stadium Tour, nightly earnings hit $4.96 million.

The other major factory of the post-pandemic touring landscape is perhaps the most obvious: time. The nearly two-year COVID shutdown raised anticipation for just about every musician to return to the stage, and then some for these two bands. Def Leppard played brief stints in Las Vegas and Canada in 2019, and with Journey in 2018, but not as a solo headliner since 2017.

Further, it was the first time Mötley Crüe launched a tour in eight years, since the then-farewell run The Final Tour played from 2014 to 2015. That trek became the band’s highest grossing tour yet, but the $44.3 million total only hinted at the stadium magic to come alongside its glam-metal peers.

The forced break may have been the perfect accent to both bands’ slow resurgence over the last 20 years. Mötley Crüe was pacing 2,800 on the expansive Greatest Hits Tour in 1997-98 and crept up and up, passing 10,000 tickets on the Saints of Los Angeles Tour (2008-09) and 11,500 on The Final Tour. Def Leppard had a similar incline, boosted by more substantial co-headline stints with Heart, Whitesnake, and KISS. Increased capacity on this summer’s stadiums made for an obvious earnings boost. But the timing had to be just right in the grand arc of both acts’ careers to step up to bigger venues.

Dating back to reports from the late ‘80s, Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe have earned $730 million and sold 14 million tickets combined.

MOTLEY CRUE, DEF LEPPARD & POISON Break Records With The Most Profitable Tour Of Their Careers

  • September 21, 2022
  • 2 minute read

According to  Billboard ,  MÖTLEY CRÜE  and  DEF LEPPARD ‘s  “The Stadium Tour”  sold 1.3 million tickets and earned $173.5 million, making it the biggest tour of either band’s career.

The biggest market on the tour, which featured support from  POISON  and  JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS , was Boston, where the four acts performed two concerts at Fenway Park on August 5-6 and sold 64,000 tickets for total earnings of $9.3 million.

Four individual shows broke the $6 million threshold: Charlotte, North Carolina; Denver, Colorado; Glendale, Arizona; and Inglewood, California. Average nightly earnings hit $4.96 million.

“The Stadium Tour”  averaged 37,520 tickets each night, drawing more than three times the audience that each band previously reached on their own.

Earlier,  Nikki Sixx revealed how he was against the idea of reuniting Mötley Crüe for the massive “Stadium Tour” at first.

Speaking to Entertainment Online alongside drummer Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx said:

“It’s been unbelievable. I’m so grateful to be doing this, and it started, like, three years ago when the movie came out – two and a half years ago. We kind of, we broke up the band. We just decided to quit touring. We’ve been doing it for, god, 35 years at that point.

“Tommy does other stuff, and I do other stuff, and I remember getting the phone call from management, and I was like. ‘No.’ And they go, ‘You haven’t even heard what I have to say.'”

Earlier Nikki Sixx shared on his Instagram official page his favorite tour by far in decades.

“This moment. The moment I’ve experienced 1000’s times from playing small clubs to stadiums over the last 45 years of my life. The moment right before we hit the stage. I wish I could boil it down and pass it around in a shot glass for everybody. It’s high, it’s a meditative state, it’s rage, and it’s gratitude.

”All the work, all the songwriting, all the stage designs, all the band rehearsals, and all the joy of being in a band. The list goes on and on. God bless rock n roll. God bless the fans. Thank you. Who wants a shot of adrenaline? Bottoms up. Let’s do it again tomorrow night in Cleveland.

”PS: This is by far my favorite tour in decades, and Def Leppard is a joy to hang out with and do a co-headline tour together with.”

Love it that they were able to do this…but Vince needs to stop. His voice is done, and he struggles so badly. Just be an aged rock star and call it…as Def Leppard sang “its better to burn out, than fade away…” OK, your burned out!

I saw Def Leppard on the pyromania tour, it was great. But I think this stuff is better left to those periods. These oldies but goodies tours are a joke. I can’t believe folks pay money for this.

Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard Stadium Tour Grosses $173.5 Million

Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard Stadium Tour Grosses $173.5 Million

Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe ’s co-headlining stadium tour brought in a whopping $173.5 million, making it the highest grossing tour of either band’s career.

The highly anticipated outing finally took place in 2022 after being postponed twice due to the pandemic. The bill was utterly stacked, with the aforementioned headliners receiving support from fellow rock icons Poison and Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.

Average ticket sales for each night were 37,520 — more than three times the draw that Def Leppard and Mötley Crüe had previously reached on their own — with an average nightly earning of $4.96 million.

Boston was the largest market, with the bands playing a two-night stand at Fenway Park on August 5th and 6th. A total of 64,000 tickets sold for $9.3 million in earnings.

Other notable draws that made over $6 million included dates in Charlotte, North Carolina; Denver, Colorado; Glendale, Arizona; and Inglewood, California.

Tommy Lee Responds to Criticism Over Exposed Genitalia at Mötley Crüe Show

Many of the headlines surrounding the trek were focused on Mötley Crüe drummer Tommy Lee. After breaking his ribs prior to the outing, he was initially limited to playing only a handful of songs each night. He would eventually perform his first complete set of the tour at the June 28th show in Charlotte.

Toward the end of the trek, Lee set the internet ablaze by posting a full-frontal nude selfie on social media with no remorse. In fact, the drummer brought his affinity for exhibitionism to Mötley Crüe’s live show, catching flak after he encouraged audience members to expose themselves at several shows, as well as whipping out a real-live dachshund (wiener dog) from his pants in Los Angeles.

Expect to catch Mötley Crüe on tour quite a bit in 2023 and 2024, as bassist Nikki Sixx recently told Entertainment Tonight that the band plans on playing roughly 120 shows during over the next couple years.

Motley Crue and Def Leppard’s Stadium Tour Made Over $173 Million

The Stadium Tour, featuring headliners Motley Crue and Def Leppard , earned $173.5 million this summer.

That number comes courtesy of Billboard , who noted that the trek sold approximately 1.3 million tickets across 36 dates.

The tour, which also featured Poison , Joan Jett and Classless Act , averaged 37,520 tickets sold per night. On four different occasions – June 28 in Charlotte, July 21 in Denver, Aug. 25 in Glendale, AZ, and Aug. 27 in Inglewood, Calif. – the tour raked in more than $6 million in a single day. Still, Boston proved to be the most profitable city. A two-night stay in Beantown saw the Stadium Tour earn $9.3 million.

A previous report indicated that the Stadium Tour was averaging about $5 million per show, however Billboard ’s new information shows that it came in slightly less than that at roughly $4.82 million per concert. Still, the trek was unquestionably a success, ranking as the biggest tour of any of the band’s respective careers.

The Stadium Tour wrapped on Sept. 9 with a raucous performance in Las Vegas. However, both Def Leppard and Motley Crue have indicated that further dates will be announced, with a European leg likely coming in 2023.

“I think we proved that rock ’n’ roll is not dead," Poison drummer Rikki Rockett opined in a social media post, reflecting upon the trek. "Neither is our brand of rock ’n’ roll!”

His message echoed a loud, if cruder, statement made by Nikki Sixx on stage at the final Stadium Tour stop. "Somebody said rock is dead," the Motley Crue bassist declared. "They can suck my dick."

Vince Neil  recently assured fans that  MÖTLEY CRÜE   will continue to tour internationally, with plans to return to the U.S. in 2024.

“We’re far from being over,”  Neil  told  John Katsilometes  of the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “When we come back in ’24, we’re going to do it all over again.”

Neil  also confirmed that there are talks of  CRÜE  returning for a third residency in Vegas, where they previously played a series of shows at the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel in 2012 and again in 2013.

“We have definitely talked about doing it, and everybody loves to do the residencies, so I say, ‘Yeah, we’re gonna do it,’”  Neil  said. “We just have to look at sometime in ’24, to be back in Vegas. But we will be back.”

He also said that band will only stick to touring and that there are no plans for new studio album.

“We are strictly a touring band,”  Neil  said. “When you see this show at Allegiant, you’ll see why. You’re going to see something that’s unbelievable, lights and lasers, three dancers. There are a lot of cool special effects, and a cool band putting on a rock show.”

According to Billboard , MÖTLEY CRÜE and DEF LEPPARD 's "The Stadium Tour" sold 1.3 million tickets and earned $173.5 million, making it the biggest tour of either band's career.

"The Stadium Tour" averaged 37,520 tickets each night, drawing more than three times the audience that each band previously reached on their own.

MÖTLEY CRÜE announced "The Stadium Tour" in 2019, just months after the band supposedly noticed a massive surge in interest following the huge success of the CRÜE 's Netflix biopic "The Dirt" .

MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx told Entertainment Tonight that returning to the road with his bandmates has been "unbelievable. I'm so grateful to be doing this, and it started, like, three years ago when the movie came out — two and a half years ago," he said. "We kind of, we broke up the band. We just decided to quit touring. We've been doing it for, god, 35 years at that point."

According to Sixx , he was initially opposed to the idea of touring again with MÖTLEY CRÜE , especially since CRÜE fans who shelled out for the band's 2014/2015 "farewell" tour were led to believe that the group would never return after playing its final show on December 2015 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The band touted the signing of a pre-tour "cessation of touring" agreement as cementing the fact it truly was the end of CRÜE 's life on the road.

" Tommy [ Lee , MÖTLEY CRÜE drummer] does other stuff, and I do other stuff, and I remember getting the phone call from management, and I was, like, 'No,'" Sixx said. "And they go, 'You haven't even heard what I have to say.' And we were friends, and we were fine and everything's good. We're just like, 'No, it's a lot of work.' When you see the show out there, you're gonna go, 'Wow.' I mean, it's years of work putting it together, and then they were like, 'No, not eight arenas, eight stadiums,' and I was like, 'Let me call Tommy .'"

He continued: "I was like, 'Hey, dude, they're talking about us touring,' and he's like, 'No.' Because we wanted to be — stand by what we said, and then it was 16 and 36, which we just entered our 36th stadium, and there's, what, another 120 next year and the year after that, so, we're grateful we said yes."

CRÜE 's long-delayed North American trek with DEF LEPPARD , POISON and JOAN JETT & THE BLACKHEARTS was originally planned for 2020 and later moved to 2021 and then to 2022.

Last month, MÖTLEY CRÜE singer Vince Neil said the band will continue touring internationally with DEF LEPPARD in 2023, through Mexico and South America in the spring and soccer stadiums in Europe next summer. Plans are for MÖTLEY CRÜE to return to U.S. for more shows in 2024.

In a 2013 interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Sixx said "the most important thing about a farewell tour is that the band doesn't lie to the fans, and the band doesn't tour and then come back years later. That's what's important for us, planning what's the right time to go out."

Three years ago, Sixx said that "The Dirt" , about MÖTLEY CRÜE 's formative years, sparked a renewed interest from younger fans who wanted to see them live, contributing to the band's decision to renege on its infamous "cessation of touring" contract.

LIVE REVIEW: The World Tour with Def Leppard and Motley Crue

Marvel stadium, melbourne - 14th november 2023.

15 November 2023 Andrew Slaidins

motley crue tour earnings

The World Tour took its resting place tonight in Melbourne after 18 months of touring the globe it all came to an end here. All in attendance tonight were blessed with an outstanding show; the final page in this tour’s book.

With all of the controversy over the beginning of this leg of the World Tour; the loss/sacking of founding member Mick Mars, accusations of miming and the use of backing tracks, things were going to be a little less familiar and become more critical to someone who is more than a casual fan and religious observer of daily music news – fact of fiction. Tonight, I got to see and hear what all of this sensationalism has been about. What’s my verdict? Read on and all will be revealed.

From the moment Motley Crue ’s intro tape burst onto the screens, part news report, part underworld report, an energy came over Marvel Stadium. It was electrifying.

John 5 in his white coat emblazed with his logo played his character to the T. A mysterious out of this earth guitar wielding entity. Nikki Sixx prowled the stage as only Nikki Sixx can fierce, dominant and commanding. Tommy Lee started the show unusually out of his usual hyper full of teenage hormones character, but this would soon change. Vince looked the best he has in decades and seemed to have more energy and for the best part wasn’t struggling for breath when he sang. He has clearly worked his ass off to be in the shape he is today.

Tonight, Motley Crue kicked off proceedings with style and with half a dozen of this Crue heads favourite songs.

‘Wildside’, ‘Shout At The Devil’ and ‘Too Fast For love’ were perfectly executed blows to the senses and really set the scene for tonight with the audience in full voice. ‘Don’t Go Away’, ‘Live Wire’ and ‘Looks That Kill’ made sure that they had everyone in the palm of their hand.

The next song, ‘The Dirt’ was the only hint of material post 1991. For me, I have never been a fan of the song, sure it serves its purpose as the title track to the biopic that everyone I am sure has seen fan or not. For me it was an unnecessary inclusion to the set. Was it bad?  No, in fact it kind of inspired me to give it another listen. Live it works and obviously this was the first hint at any backing track as the Machine Gun Kelly vocal obviously had to be run from tape.

Nikki took to the stage, Australian flag in hands and addressed the crowd, telling of how their history with Def Leppard was some forty-years strong and as this tour has gone on they have become life-long friends. Inviting two female fans from the crowd onto stage, Nikki takes the time to take selfies with them and I’m sure made a lifelong memory for both girls. It was made clear that Motley Crue are far from done and they will be back if Australia will have them.

John 5 had his moment to solo including AC/DC’s ‘Thunderstruck’ riff into it. It was his moment to shine, some of the crowd took it as their opportunity to get a drink.

Something that I had been waiting to hear was the Motley medley. Tonight, it was everything I had hoped it would be – fun with a capital F.

motley crue tour earnings

The moment had come for the one and only Mr Tommy Lee to take centre stage as he engaged the crowd in an enthusiastic chant of “Aussie! Aussie!! Aussie!!!” before asking the crowd where were all the beers, as the video crew scanned the crowd for those with drinks in hand. This set up Titty Cam where Tommy the forever horny teenager asked who was willing to get em out. The video screens quickly filled with titties of all shapes, sizes, including males filling the screen. Tommy then joked with the guys in the audience, “Any one wanna get their dick out? You have all seen mine and by the way the screen makes it look huge!!!”

I get it, it’s the thing Tommy does these days, but man give me a drum solo, do something that will blow my mind just like the solo from 1990’s Dr Feelgood Tour did. Maybe times have changed for me back then I would have welcomed titty cam. Today, I would have loved to have seen something big and bold, something that Steel Panther hadn’t done to death.

A metal-encased keyboard makes it’s way to centre stage, which can mean only one thing ‘Home Sweet Home’ as every phone lights up Marvel Stadium just as dusk is hitting and Marvel Stadium is in fine voice. My only minor fault with this is that it should have been a spectacle with a grand piano. I’m splitting hairs here and possibly being a bit of a brat, however it would have been a nice visual touch.

John 5 plays yet another short solo as the keyboard is removed from the stage this time with a bow. This kicks into ‘Dr.Feelgood’ and energy levels just peak again in the crowd and Marvel Stadium is on their feet again. It’s during ‘Feelgood’ that things got a little wobbly there seemed to be some kind of delay between Vince’s vocals and the band. Vince unfortunately shows his first sign of him losing his breath and not singing every word in the verses. By the time the 2nd chorus hits everything seems to be back on track. Yes I’m being critical. The two female backing vocalists do such an amazing job on this as they did with ‘Wildside’ the set opener all is forgiven.

motley crue tour earnings

‘Same Ol Situation’ comes out firing. I have always really liked this song, tonight it had me at full voice too. Vince struggled during the verses, the energy in Marvel Stadium covered some of it.

The iconic kickstart of a motorcycle started and two huge inflatable female figures grace the stage as they transport us back to 1987’s ‘Girls, Girls, Girls’ this and I have to say this is probably one the best live versions of this song I have heard. It has every bit of that sleaze and swagger tonight.

motley crue tour earnings

‘Primal Scream’ and it’s driving intro blasts from the PA. This song is possibly my go to Motley track. I love this song, it is one of my musical pick me up’s. Tonight, it was a little tough as Vince seemed to struggle with pitch and missing some of the lyrics in the verses. Hell it was ‘Primal Scream’ so it was good.

Closing out tonight was ‘Kickstart My Heart’ which erupted the audience yet again, fists in the air and gang like vocals from all in attendance. Unfortunately, I didn’t get to hear or see much of the song as I had to collect my camera in preparation for Def Leppard. What I heard sounded great and I wish I could tell you how the set ended but it sounded like Motley Crue blew up Marvel Stadium sonically and visually.

motley crue tour earnings

Tonight, Motley’s sound was as many had reported during the tour was very bottom end heavy which not only lost Vince’s vocals at times but made J5’s guitar tone and playing fail to cut through most noticeably when things weren’t so boomy. I thought at first thought Motley’s sound tonight wasn’t great, yet listening back to the snippets I recorded on my phone actually sounded OK, perhaps they pushed it too hard but something wasn’t quite right.

Technically and proficiently J5 was amazing. Perhaps a little too sterile and clinical at times but very true to the parts. He has filled a void that has been left by Mick’s departure perfectly. I will say there can only be one Mick Mars and there can only be one John 5. John plays Mick’s parts so well perhaps too well, maybe it’s in their feel and technique that things seem the same but different.

motley crue tour earnings

To squash any thought that Vince Neil’s vocals are pre recorded or a track, tonight Vince gave it his all and to these ears and eyes there is no way he was assisted by a track . He was 100% live tonight; and that wasn’t a bad thing.

As a whole Motley’s set was a hit after hit experience. For a band that were ending an 18 month tour they still sounded fresh and not at all tired. I’m excited to see what this next chapter of Motley brings. It was an amazing performance and set in all honesty.

Motley Crue 7/10

Now Def Leppard …. Where do I start. What a performance, what a set list, what a show.

Def Leppard have, since Hysteria, set the bar for live production so incredibly high. They were innovators and shaped live music production to what it is today. Forever pushing the boundaries sonically and visually. Tonight was no exception, from the images on the screens to the lighting and lasers that made full use of Marvel Stadium. Def Leppard were here to provide a stadium spectacular. Tonight’s sound for Def Leppard was top notch and actually made Motley Crue sound muddy and bottom end heavy. In stadium settings you come to expect that not all shows are going to sound great depending on where you were seated. With my spot in the audience not changing the sound was vastly different between the two bands. Def Leppard may well have set the bar incredibly high for a stadium shows for me moving forward.

motley crue tour earnings

Tonight’s set, like Motley Crue’s, was a bonafide greatest hits outing.  Opening with ‘Take what You Want’ from last year’s ‘Diamond Star Halos’ album, the intention was set from the get go. Def Leppard were on a mission to rock us till we dropped. ‘Take What You Want” is as stadium ready as anything from their back catalogue.

‘Let’s Get Rocked’ got anyone who wasn’t already on their feet there. If that wasn’t enough, ‘Animal’ had just about everyone in voice.

Could Def Leppard be one of the greatest feel good bands on the planet? I can’t think of another band that makes me smile and sing every lyric, whether I want to or  like these guys do.

motley crue tour earnings

A quick trip back to 1983’s Pyromania in the form of ‘Foolin’’ almost made the full circle of their career. To think that forty years later a song could blend so perfectly into the set. It is as fresh as anything off their most recent releases.

‘Armageddon it’ and ’Kick’ just keep the shows momentum rolling. The haunting ‘Love Bites’ slows the show down for the first time. ‘Promises’ from 1999’s ‘Euphoria’ has become a staple in Def Leppard’s set and what a killer song it is.

Joe Elliot tells of the meeting of the two bands here tonight, dating back to 1983 when Motley Crue first crossed paths in America. Again he shares just how much fun they have had on the road for the last 18 months with Motley, how the bands have become family. Joe also touches on his friendships within the band. Def Leppard are a true band of brothers and this has never been more obvious.

motley crue tour earnings

Joe introduces the mid-set acoustic section of the show which featured ‘This Guitar’ from ‘Diamond Star Halos’ and ‘When Love & Hate Collide’ from 1995’s ‘Vault’ as reworking of the these song from the way they were recorded and they hit the nail on the head on delivery. It made tonight’s stadium show feel intimate. Something that I have rarely experienced.

Complete with album into ‘Rocket’ takes off with possibly tonight’s best visual production.

motley crue tour earnings

At this stage of the show you realise that we are heading on the home stretch, the big hits haven’t happened yet. We get taken back to 1981 where Def Leppard really started to make some noise. ‘Bringing’ On The Heartbreak’ is the earliest memory I have of the band. I recall hearing it on an older friend’s boombox back in 1982 and being blown away. Live it is still as powerful as ever.

‘Switch 625’ which will always be a reminder and haunting tribute to the late Steve Clarke.

‘Hysteria’ and ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’ has everyone back in fine voice and on their feet. These two songs are so incredibly well known that even the most casual of fans are familiar. ‘Pour’ has everyone in the place singing.

motley crue tour earnings

Tonight’s finale takes us back to 1983’s breakthrough ‘Pyromania’. The unmistakable intro to ‘Rock of Ages’ blasts through the PA, god damn this song is timeless. There isn’t too much I can say about this song that hasn’t already been said before. It has everything. Tonight’s final song ‘Photograph’ is the one that brought tonight’s show together in a perfect little bow. The montage of photos from the bands very beginning in the late 70’s to now was a trip down memory lane and the perfect compliment to what we all saw and heard tonight.

motley crue tour earnings

How do I sum up Def Leppard’s performance tonight ? Near perfection. What Def Leppard did tonight I haven’t had the chance to hear them do before and that is to strip down some of the layers in the audio production. There are things you expect from a Def Leppard show, things that you understand from knowing just how complex and layered those original recordings from ‘Hysteria’ onwards are. There has to be the presence of samples and triggers, we accept it and know it. Not once has Def Leppard ever claimed to be an all live, unassisted by technology band and that honesty has never cast a shadow on them. Def Leppard has never been about backing singers, it has always been five guys doing what they do the way they do it. What took me by surprise tonight was that in the mix all four vocal parts were nothing but live; if there were backing tracks they weren’t obvious in the slightest. Def Leppard sounded so damn good tonight, they were the perfect way to end this show and this tour.

As Joe Elliott said, “Don’t forget us and we won’t forget you” . I am sure we will see Def Leppard back here before too long.

Motley Crue + Def Leppard Add U.S. Dates to 2023 World Tour, Announce Alice Cooper as Special Guest

Motley Crue and Def Leppard had one of the biggest grossing tours of 2022, and they'll be back out on the road sharing their shows with the rest of the world in 2023. While shows in Mexico, South America and Europe have already been revealed, they also just announced a handful of shows for U.S. audiences as well. And they revealed that the iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Alice Cooper will be joining them on their 2023 run on select dates.

Dubbed "The World Tour," things will get underway Feb. 10 and 11 with the previously announced shows in Atlantic City before jetting off to Mexico City for a Feb. 18 show that will keep them in Mexico and South America for a run. Then in May, "The World Tour" heads to the U.K. and Europe for dates carrying over into the summer.

Finishing out their run, the acts will return stateside to play six newly announced shows in the U.S. this August starting Aug. 5 in Syracuse, New York. All the dates for the Live Nation-backed run are listed below.

“After finally getting back on the road this past summer, we’re beyond thrilled to bring this massive tour to a global audience including some special dates in America!” said Joe Elliott of Def Leppard.

"We had an incredible time playing The Stadium Tour in North America this summer and we truly can't wait to take the show around the globe with The WORLD Tour in 2023. Crüeheads get ready because we have a few amazing U.S. dates set for you!" Mötley Crüe said in a joint statement.

The new Motley Crue dates will also be the first to feature John 5 as a touring member of the band. The group announced earlier this year that Mick Mars , while remaining a member of Motley Crue, would be  retiring from touring with John 5 coming on board to fill in.

Be sure to check out complete ticketing details in local markets including VIP offerings. You can get your tickets via both the Motley Crue and Def Leppard websites. It should also be noted that Citi is the official card of "The World Tour" and Citi cardmembers will have access to pre-sale tickets starting Tuesday, Dec. 13 at 10AM local time through Thursday, Dec. 15 at 10PM local time. Visit the Citi Entertainment website for pre-sale details. All other tickets will go on sale to the general public on Friday, Dec. 16 at 10AM local time.
