Based in Northeast Ohio, The Liverpool Lads have been entertaining and surpassing audience expectations at various venues since 2009. Whether it’s a corporate event, nightclub, private party or public concert, it’s always a thrill to perform for and meet audiences’ of all ages! The Lads pack as much Beatles music from 1962 - 1970 as possible into our shows. You can expect the hits, but we also perform B sides and album cuts in our shows. We perform in costume and use replica vintage instruments. The Liverpool Lads are four dedicated musicians who give it their all for Beatles fans every time out. We’ll gladly travel up to 1500 miles to perform for you!

The Beatles in Liverpool: A Fab Four fan’s guide

The Beatles were four young lads from Liverpool who revolutionized pop music and changed the world. Fans can explore their roots on a visit to the city, discovering the houses, parks and streets that inspired the band. Here, we take you through the must-see sights, from John Lennon’s bedroom and Penny Lane to museums and tribute bands.

Lennon and McCartney’s childhood homes

The National Trust, the caretaker of palaces and royal estates across the UK, also owns two seemingly nondescript houses in the suburbs of south Liverpool where John and Paul grew up. And if you only have time for one Beatles experience in Liverpool, make it the trust’s tour of the two.

Yoko Ono bought Mendips, the elegant 1930s house at 251 Menlove Ave where John Lennon grew up, in 2002 and donated it to the trust. Stepping inside means entering a time capsule, painstakingly recreated from accounts of lodgers who used to live with the family. You’re transported back to John’s childhood with his Aunt Mimi and Uncle George. The tour guides passionately detail his tumultuous family and school life, after walking you through the back garden door, which is the only way Aunt Mimi allowed scruffy Paul McCartney in.

Don’t miss climbing up the creaking stairs to John’s cramped bedroom where he wrote his first songs or singing at the top of your lungs in the closed off front porch, where Mimi would relegate the boys to practice.

Paul McCartney’s childhood home is not far away, but is a world apart from Mendips. 20 Forthlin Rd is an austere brick-fronted house that was one of hundreds the local council built after WWII. John and Paul would often end up in the cozy living room when they skipped school to write and rehearse some of their earliest songs.

Taking the 2½-hour National Trust tour is the only way to see inside the two Beatles’ homes, and you must be picked up and dropped off at Jurys Inn at Albert Dock or at Speke Hall .

Beatles Story museum

Spread across two sites near the River Mersey, the Beatles Story indulges visitors with a full-on history lesson. John Lennon’s sister Julia narrates the audio guide as you wander through a full-size recreation of the Cavern Club and the Abbey Road studio where the Beatles’ first singles were recorded. The bounty of Beatles memorabilia includes John’s famous round spectacles and George’s first guitar.

Above the Beatles Story’s Pier Head location, grab a quick drink and relax on the sunny roof terrace at Matou ,  overlooking the river.

Pub crawl Mathew St and catch a band at the Cavern Club

Mathew St, one of the most famous streets in pop music, is the spine of the Cavern Quarter, a small district filled with shops, bars and pubs that really gets going after dark. A statue of John Lennon casually leans against a wall outside the reconstructed Cavern Club . The Beatles played the original venue nearly 300 times, but that wasn’t enough to save it from demolition in the 1970s to make way for a railway ventilation shaft that was ultimately never built. In addition to a range of local talent, the still dark and intimate Cavern Club hosts a Beatles tribute band that dons their mop-tops and rocks out every Saturday night.

For a quieter drink, stop off at Bar Four, the lounge at the Hard Days Night Hotel just off Mathew St, to sup some Beatles-themed cocktails, such as Daq in the USSR and Honey Can’t Buy Me Love.

Find Ringo Starr in Welsh Streets

Liverpool almost lost a piece of Beatles history forever when the local council decided to demolish and redevelop an area called Welsh Streets, 2 miles southeast of Albert Dock. After public protest, Ringo’s childhood home at 9 Madryn St was spared, but walking through these eerily quiet streets still feels post-apocalyptic. Almost all of the houses are abandoned and covered over with daunting metal grates. Beatles fans and the graffiti they leave behind are the only signs of life.

On the outside, Ringo’s house looks similar to Paul’s, but today it’s worth only a measly £525. The whole derelict Welsh Streets area sits in stark contrast to the more genteel neighbourhoods you’re escorted through with the National Trust.

Penny Lane and George Harrison

All these years later, "the shelter in the middle of the roundabout" on Penny Lane is still there, and you can catch a bus here from the city center 3.5 miles away, just as the Beatles did when Penny Lane was a major terminus. Snap a picture of the famous street sign before walking to George Harrison’s childhood home a mile away.  You can wind your way down the narrow side streets, barely big enough for two cars, to see where George lived until age 6. This homely, bright red "two-up two-down" terraced house at 12 Arnold Grove is still a private residence.

Eleanor Rigby via Strawberry Field

Make a quick stop at Strawberry Field, an old Salvation Army children’s home about 6 miles southeast of central Liverpool, to see the bright red, graffiti-covered gates. It’s surreal to imagine a young John Lennon playing in the woods behind these gates, as we’re just around the corner from Aunt Mimi’s house at Mendips. Strawberry Field is now open with an interactive exhibition and garden tour.

Continue on Menlove Ave and stroll by Mendips or remember the Quarrymen, the band that evolved into the Beatles, on Quarry St, heading for St Peter’s Church. The most important meeting in pop music happened in these pristinely kept church grounds, when John first met Paul at a school fete. But the churchyard has even more Beatles connections: a woman named Eleanor Rigby is buried here, as well as John’s uncle George, who he lived with at Mendips.

Getting around

To tackle all these sights, set aside a couple of days. John and Paul’s childhood homes and the Beatles Story are the most obvious attractions and could be done in a day. The Beatles grew up outside the city center: if you don't have a car, hire a bike from Liverpool’s CityBike scheme  or use local bus 76, which runs from Albert Dock past Penny Lane, Mendips and St Peter’s Church.

In the late 50s, John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Richard Starkey were just four Liverpudlian teenagers who decided to play music. With no formal training and no ability to read or write music, they tried to emulate their American rock heroes. Within a few years, they would change music history (and the world) forever. Freiman traces the birth of the Beatles from their days as the Quarrymen to their first visit to EMI Studios and the recording of “Love Me Do.”

The Beatles changed the way we all listen to music, and to pay homage to their craft and to ensure authenticity a great deal of time was spent on researching the rich history of the group and the era they helped define. It was a moment in time that is seared into our hearts and minds - the era of war and peace, violence and free love. The message of love that came out of their music is universal and has stood the test of time.

JIMMY POU George Harrison, portrayed by Jimmy Pou, toured the world with the original Beatlemania show. He has also played with 1964 the Tribute, Beatlemania Now, and Rain. He also has his solo tribute to the quiet one called "An Evening With George." Jimmy is also the founding member of “4 Lads From Liverpool” and is the leader of the show.

HOWARD PATTOW John Lennon, portrayed by Howard Pattow, has toured with "Which Ones Pink," a tribute to Pink Floyd, and fronted a Monkees tribute show in the past. Howard also works with a Genesis tribute show and has played in several Beatles shows such as BackBeat and Twist and Shout

JON PERRY Paul McCartney, portrayed by Jon Perry, is a naturally left handed guitarist. He has the vocal range and personality of Paul and his stage presence leaves everyone thinking they have seen Sir Paul himself in action. He has had a solo McCartney tribute show, has toured with RCCL Cruise Liners and has worked with cast members of Beatlemania.

MIKE SARAFIAN Ringo Starr, portrayed by Mike Sarafian, is a perfectionist at playing the Ringo drum licks, has always worked hard at his craft and has the same charm as the Beatles drummer. Mike was also a founding member of the Beach Boys tribute band “Surfin Safari.”

Liverpool natives Billy J. Kramer, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Terry Sylvester of The Hollies and Joey Molland of Badfinger come together to sing their combined twenty Top 10 hits and share behind-the-scenes stories of their relationships with John, Paul, George and Ringo.

Billy tells of being the first person to have a hit with a Lennon & McCartney song even before the Beatles did. Terry takes the audience into The Beatles legendary final performance at the Cavern Club when Paul and George had Terry’s first band, The Escorts, open for them at the show. Joey talks about Badfinger being the backing band at the legendary Concert for Bangladesh.

It’s a step back in time to the greatest music and stories the world has ever heard.

Performing in a technically challenging show portraying The Beatles is something few can do well. It takes dedicated musicians that are able to replicate their distinct sound, mannerisms, energy and charm. Over the years the members of 4 Lads from Liverpool have been dedicated to perfecting their craft!

John Lennon, portrayed by Howard Pattow nails John and has toured with several Beatle shows such as BackBeat and Twist and Shout. George Harrison, portrayed by Jimmy Pou, was an original member of Beatlemania on Broadway. He also played with 1964 the Tribute, Beatlemania Now, and  Rain. Paul McCartney, portrayed by Jon Perry, actually relearned to play the bass guitar left handed and is a former member of Beatlemania Now. Ringo Starr, portrayed by Mike Sarafian, is a perfectionist at playing the Ringo drum licks and has always worked hard at his craft and has the same charm as the Beatles drummer.

The show takes you through an epic journey that begins in the early days in Hamburg, Germany and the Cavern Club in Liverpool, then fast forwards to the Sgt Pepper era and beyond. Paired with an amazing multimedia experience, you get to see, hear and feel how it all got started. Who will be on my tour?

We only run private tours. Every tour is run exclusively for you, your friends or family. No other guests/strangers will be included on your individual tour. You will only be accompanied by your driver guide.

How many people fit into a taxi?

Our taxi cabs can carry up to 6 guests. Some have less seats (5) but we can usually accommodate & make things work for our guests.

What's included in the price?

Included is a private tour with one of our specialist Beatles tour driver guides inside the comfort of a Hackney Carriage “Black Cab” taxi.

Are your tours & drivers insured?

Fab 4 Taxi Tours is fully insured & only employs fully insured taxi drivers. Additionally, most drivers have also completed the Liverpool Hackney Taxi Driver First Aid Course & Management of Potential Emergencies Workshop.

Should I tip my driver guide?

If you’ve had a great experience and you feel your driver guide deserves a gratuity it will be accepted with thanks.

Are there fixed pick-up/drop-off points?

Usually we can pick up anywhere within Liverpool city centre (postcodes L1, L2, L3) or at any hotel, landmark or railway station in the city. You can add your pick-up location at booking. We also offer a door-to-door service from/to your home if you live locally. Speak to us about your requirements, we are happy to help.

Can I take my pet?

We offer pet-friendly tours but please speak to our office before booking by sending an email to [email protected] for more information. Guide dogs or hearing dogs are always allowed.

Can I be picked up at Liverpool John Lennon Airport or centrally within Liverpool?

Is my taxi guaranteed to be "black" and/or "traditional" as the old taxis are/were?

Our Black Cabs (Hackney Carriage cabs) come in different colours (of which the majority are black). As times move on and modern vehicles are introduced into the Hackney Carriage fleet options, we cannot guarantee a “traditional” or “black” taxi. You can, however, request a traditional taxi cab if you wish.

What is your cancellation/rescheduling policy?

We provide a flexible cancellation policy in that you can cancel or reschedule up to 24 hours before departure of your tour. Exceptions apply. Our full Terms & Conditions can be found here.

Do I require travel insurance?

We always advise you to take out travel insurance. For our multi-day tours, travel insurance is mandatory. We recommend All Clear Travel Insurance

Are there toilet breaks during your tours?

We are never far away from restrooms & we can usually accommodate you with an easy solution. Everywhere we stop for a longer period of time will have WC provided.

What should I wear?

We recommend you bring suitable clothing for changing weather and comfortable footwear for your tour. Bring layers. This is Britain and we do tend to have four seasons in one day.

What are the guides like?

In short, fab! Some of them love to tell the fascinating history of the Beatles as if they lived it themselves, others know hidden secrets of every Fab4, and every one of them wants to make you love their city as much as they do. They will keep you entertained on the journey with music and stories and give you plenty of time for photos & questions.

How can I provide feedback?

Do I need to book in advance?

Yes, we highly recommend in-advance bookings to avoid disappointment. The city can get very busy on e.g. cruise, match & conference days.

Oasis pre-sale tickets are available today ahead of tomorrow's general sale

Oasis pre-sale tickets are available today. A pre-ballot early access event launched on Tuesday night allowing some lucky fans to purchase tickets ahead of the Saturday, August 31, general sale.

Fans who signed up for the pre-ballot will discover today at 9am whether or not they have been successful. An email is expected to arrive in inboxes with more details on how to check out for today's pre-sale event.

A code does not guarantee a ticket - tickets are first come first served. It's not clear how many tickets will be available in the pre-sale/general sale events.

Oasis will play Manchester's Heaton Park on July 11, 12, 16 19 and 20 . Tour dates have also been confirmed for London's Wembley Stadium , Edinburgh Murrayfield Stadium, Cardiff's Principality Stadium and Dublin's Croke Park .

Fans who are unlucky in today's pre-sale, whether they didn't receive a code or failed to check out successfully, can still purchase tickets tomorrow in tomorrow's general sale.

Guests staying with a Manchester hotel were left disappointed after receiving a cancellation notice on the day Oasis announced their reunion tour. Since news of the reunion broke, hotel prices across the city have jumped to eye-watering prices with some increasing by hundreds of pounds per night.

The Maldron, in Manchester city centre, reportedly messaged several guests with reservations saying their bookings could not be upheld due to a "technical error." A superyacht belonging to billionaire Liverpool owner John W Henry was spotted in Scottish waters this weekend during a trip around the country.

The 10-year-old vessel, which is 66-metres-long, was pictured in Aberdeen , after appearing in the harbour on Saturday, August 24 after leaving Leith.

The boat , which was built in 2014, was bought by the Liverpool FC owner, thought to be worth $5billion, in 2016. And it sailed to the Granite City as the owner took in his side's 2-0 Premier League win over Brentford at Anfield.

Aberdeen Live reports there was no sign of the American in Aberdeen, and that the yacht departed on Monday, heading south along the east coast.

Henry first took over the English footballing giants back in 2010 when Fenway Sports Group purchased Liverpool, with the group also owning American baseball outfit Boston Red Sox.
