Hey everyone,

I've searched and searched for videos on how to replace the thermostat on my 2009 dodge journey 2.4L 4cyl engine. Has anybody replaced their thermostat? Where is the thermostat on the 2.4L engine? Any tips, videos, photos will be much appreciated.

Follow the upper rad hose to the engine block has to be there somewhere

Here is what the part looks like that holds the t-stat.

Ok would this be the same for a 2010 with a 3.5L V6?? If not is there a diagram for this?? Having trouble finding anything

It is leaking around  that area was gonna change thermostat and gasket,didn't know if it was on top of housing or side so I could replace gasket

Your engine's cooling system includes a thermostat that controls the flow of coolant from your engine to your radiator. The thermostat is designed to open and close at specific temperatures to circulate coolant throughout the system and the radiator to regulate its temperature and prevent overheating. SOURCE: How to get at the

First, you will need to jack up the driver side front wheel. Then, remove the wheel. With the wheel off, you can remove the plastic fasteners holding the battery access panel (bottom front section of inner wheel well). After you remove the cover you can reach in and disconnect the cables, then remove the battery. Hope this helps!

3.5 thermostat replacement......how and where?

Anybody here ever replace the stat in their 3.5 engine? I think i found the housing.......but was wondering how involved it was to chang out. Ed  

How about the 2.7? Does anybody have a diagram? I have to replace mine whenever it gets here. (overseas so it takes awhile) It looks like it will be tricky to get to. The dealer told me that the 2.7s were bad about air pockets and have to be bled whenever the coolant is drained. That must be why they put that big bleeder valve on the hose!

Don't do this if all you want is a 180 degree thermostat, as there is an extremely good chance you already have one. I bought a Jet Chip and their website says it "requires" a 180 degree thermostat... meanwhile my '06 Charger SXT already has one. There should be plenty of old threads with info on how to find out if you already have one.

Na, I am having cooling issues. Not worried about 10 degrees one bit. The temp will stay at 1/4 for the first ten minutes, then quickly rise to a little over half. I haven't driven very far since the problem began, so I don't know if it will overheat or not. I just know it's not right. Plus I am getting code 0126.

What kind of temp are you guys running on the 3.5? Right now mine sits just a tad less than middle of the gauge, occasionally reaching the middle but never above. Its been cold out lately, the highest being 40 some degrees. I don't have the evic so I can only go by the guage, but am I running too hot? I checked my codes today and I don't have any set, so I suppose thats good, but I just wondered about the temp. Thanks in advance!  

My Charger SXT is at operating temp at the middle of the gauge...  

Mine is the same. Middle to just left of middle once warmed up. Middle is 200 degrees BTW.  

Just had the Stealership replace my water pump under warranty. It went on me, they suggested the thermostat stuck closed and caused the seal to go on the pump. They charged me $180CDN for the thermostat and replacement, also said I needed a coolant flush, so another $90 for that.  

The 3.5 runs too hot in my opion. My gauge was showing same as all above so I purchassed an interface that reads from the ODBII port and idling with outside temp around 50 it went to 217 when fully warmed up. After I installed my PCM with the B&G flash (w/lower fan on temp) it didn't go above 192. I'm thinking this indicates I have a 190-195 thermostat.

very satisfied so far, speedy service and customer friendly, This is my 3rd one in the past year, the last 2 were purchased from a Florida re-builder and both times they failed within 3 months. there prices were higher and there turn around time between 6 to 9 weeks.

A local shop wanted to charge me $4,500 to install a new TIPM, I removed mine and sent it in to Module Masters. They repaired it and had it back to me in a week and I was able to install it and get back on the road!

After reinstalling my Module Master rebuilt TIPM, everything electrical is working correctly!! Thanks so much for a quality job!
