Hi Fhel, I will be cruising with my family on march in asia tru holland am with this ff. itinerary Taipei,Taiwan, Japan and Shanghai Do i need visas in any of this destinations specially in shanghai where the cruise will end and we will fly home the day after we disembark the cruise ship?

Hi, Good morning.

I have some queries to ask. Currently I am residing here in Qatar working in F&B department. Next week, I will be going to Sri Lanka as a short visit and do sightseeing with my Sri Lankan friends.

Do we have a Visa there? Or is it Visa on Arrival? If it’s Visa on Arrival what are the requirements that needs to be prepared? Hope you will answer my queries as soon as possible.

Thank you! ?

Hello. I had fun reading all those comments here. And I’ve never been seen someone who asks questions same as what I concerned, please help me to understand more the terms that they’ve used “free visa” does it means, that once I have a passport (Philippines Passport) can I already book my flights to those countries who have listed here? Directly? Or do I need to go in embassy first? Is there any processes (show money, requirements, payments) needed before I can go to that particular country? Hope you to help me. Thanks

Please update your list. Zambia is not visa free for Philippine Passport Holders as of October 2015. We also cannot get visa upon entry.

Hi, I’m a Filipina with a boyfriend I met through a dating site. We’re almost 3 years now. He want me to go to the UK by applying a working visa and find a job when I get there. Is this possible?

That is not possible. You will only be given a working visa to the UK if you have a job offer from an employer there. If you are his only online gf, It is better for him to come visit you. to see if he is real or not. He doesn’t seem to be educated because he is unaware of the fact that you cannot apply for a work visa there. Pnly EU nationals can just go there and look for work. But after Brexit, that will also stop. Ask him to spend some money.. consult a lawyer..if he has less money to spend, he can consult a travel agent… if he has none, then better look for another online boyfriend… there are thousands in your website right?

You should be mindful of your words. Question is about British and Filipino citizens who want to live and work in the United Kingdom. Ano paki mo doon sa Pakistan?

Careful about your words… Specially if you are referring to the whole nation. The Pakistan and Philippines have good diplomatic relations. Do you know a number of legal and illegal Filipinos who are working/living in Pakistan as well but we never tagged or generalized them as illegal.. I am pretty sure no such case has been registered.

According to my personal experience staying almost a decade here in the Philippines, If i start writing about your nation it will be quite painful. But i never did, i always defend Philippines and Filipino people.

Hi! I am a Filipina and I have a working Visa here in Japan. I am currently working here. I am not yet a permanent resident in Japan. This coming holidays, I would like to travel to other countries for a short vacation. Is it possible for me? I really wanted to visit and learn cultures of other countries. I tried to apply for a US Visa recently but they denied my application for some reasons. Then I decided to just go to the countries which do not require VISA. Is it possible for me to go to Hongkong, Singapore, Malaysia, Maldives without a VISA and with my status? What are other requirements if the country of destination is VISA-free for Philippine Passport Holder? Please advice me. Thank you very much.

Will be sticking around for sure 🙂

Happy about that 🙂

My Japan visa approved 2days only at UHI agency makati. I’ve been in Japan very nice country I love to visit again my 90days vacation is not for me but anyway thank-you JAPAN.

As you have stated, it is somewhere between NO and almost impossible…Just based on your question there is no sincerity to add something positive to the Philippines, which what Immigration looks for in a work visa…The Philippines, already has enough people who take away only and not give anything back and working in a tattoo salon, is not reputable and there is not a huge need for so called tattoo artists….However, my logic means nothing, you will need to apply for all of this directly though immigration…You can do so in person, in the main office in Manila…They will give you a 29 day free visa, and then charge you for another extension, of usually 60 day, then a maximum of every 6 months, for around 7K each, and you can do this for about 3 years, however, personally, I prefer you get a job in India

thank you. its helpfull

what if i marry a phillipino ?? will it help me to take citizenship in phillipines??

That makes me sick. You see what I mean…You are willing to marry a girl, just for citizenship which is illegal..You have to do this on your own and stop bother Fehl Google the Philippines Immigration web page and follow direction, this is not what this article is about…Sorry Miss Fehl, but this guy does not belong here, this is not what your blog is about here

Hi.. i decided to work in phillipines. im an indian and i just want to enter in phillipines and work in tattoo studio..i want to work t in phillipines for long period of time and i am ready to take citizenship

. can it possible??

you have to live in the philippines for 10yrs before you can get the citizenship. 10yrs without going out. or marry a filipina then live for 5yrs. you will be citizen

PASSPORT is a legal federal ID which allows you to leave your country

VISA: Is a document granting you permission to enter the country who granted the Visa

A US visa, is only good to enter the USA, for a specific amount of time and nothing more

Your Philippines passport only allows you leave the country of the Philippines, and is a federal ID

Now,check Miss Fehl’s list of countries which allow you to enter, without a visa….A visa, for the country you wish to enter, not the USA 🙁 HELP

For Filipino passport holders with valid US visa, what countries are we allowed to enter without applying for a visa?

Where did you get the visa?

Hi can I ask here how about indian citizens what she need if she want to go Philippines next month she wants to visit me in Philippines…. for 7 days only I hope you can help me thanks

Well, for me, entering the Philippines, I was give:

#1. Free 29 day visa…Up date it early, don’t be late, or they will fine you beyond recognition, and or deport you, after holding you, or him, or her at the BIWF

#2. Second visa, can be 30 days, 60 days, or maximum of 6 months…Usually, it is based on the reason why you need it longer…For me, it was 60 days

#3. More than likely, if you have even a reasonable reason, it will be six month and more than likely, be charged and ARC-1 card if you show you will be there longer…It is not a card to work, or go to school, it is a federal ID and in most cases, can be used, for just about anything, and you can secure your passport at hotel

#4. The longest you can stay is around 3 years, less one day…All you have to do is leave the country, for any amount of time, return and it all starts over

Costs range, from 5K to 8K depending on how long the visa is and if it has the ACR-1 card

I wish Filipinos have the same privilege, it is unfair

It is very unfair how I have seen. I invited a Filipina to the US for safety school, but the consul rejected the application in under 2 minutes? Has anyone been able to obtain a visa? If so, please help?

I agree, because I prefer more Filipinos, such as yourself, in the USA than other races but the problem is, very few Filipinos go back home, once the visa is over and that is not a figure of speech, it is very few…There is this misconception that you can get rich here and if that was true, men from the USA would not be retiring in Costa Rica and the Philippines…I not miss and love the Philippines, because my wife, kids, and house, with my new life, is there, but I chose to go there because it is less to live in a fixed income…The Filipinos who come here and allowed to come here are educated, in real estate, and law abiding….Those who come here, not as lucky fall into crime, prostitution, bar dancing, and or work many jobs, because, sure you earn let’s say for fun, 120K a month it costs you 125K to live here…Until people in the Philippines and most of Asia, stop believing it is easy to make it here, and become more educated, smart people like you will be judged wrongly, because of the other 98%…There is also a lot of unfairness for foreigners in the Philippines, because they allow drug lords back in who were once black listed but if you want to get married and whatever, you are prevented from going…It is not as easy as you think…To get in and stay in is all about money and corruption, the USA has a lot less corruption so it is harder

Ma’am I am a domestic helper here in HK my American bf send me an invitation here in HK to visit in Washington state for tourist even 2 weeks is there a possibility that I can go there?

I just want to confirm if we are visa free in vatican city because i tried to check it online its stated that no visa requirement for philippine passport holder in vatican city.. Could you pls. enlightened me about this inquiry because on the list vatican city is not included and as far as my knowledge is concern vatican city is a separate state. Thank yous so much and God bless hope to hear from u soon.

When you checked on Wikipedia it is noted as visa not required but the link says otherwise

If you hqve schengen visa, then you can visit vatican w

Hi, I have visited the Vatican. Vatican has no airport therefore no port of entry and no immigration officer to stamp your passport and give you free entry visa. There are no hotels inside the city therefore you have to leave the state the same day and have to sleep in Italy. If you want to sleep in Philippine territory because you have no visa to go to Italy or an EU country try the RP embassy. You will need a valid passport to enter. If you do not have a passport try the various passwords. If you use the correct password that day, they will let you in. You can not book a room online. They are not listed at hotels.com or airbnb.com. You can enter the Vatican from Italy, specifically from Rome city. No need for passport or visa from there. You only need to show a valid entry ticket that you can buy online for 28.50 euros. When you leave the state of Vatican, you return to Italy. Again that is specifically in Rome. No need for valid visa or passport. Just exit the gate. Vatican is also a landlocked state. It is not accessible by boat therefore you will not find any seaport in the whole state. It is accessible by train, bike, taxi or rental car from Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria and a few other EU countries. The nearest airport the Fiumicino International. If you are not coming from another EU country you will need schengen visa before you board a plane to bring you there.

hi im mary grace soriano 25 years old im looking for a stable job hopefully in singapore i have 6months experience as a cashier in a supermarket and not at least 6months experience as a service staff

@ Mary Grace….Please do not get mad, but what you did here, was very dangerous…You need to find friends, who work for an employment agency, who it licensed and approved by your department of state, and even then, this does not mean you are safe…If you work over seas, stay out of the middle east, and Singapore is a good choose, but they are real Asians, which means, work work work, more than in the Filipinas…I will tell you more, privately but this was not a good move, on your part, it is called direct hire and is dangerous…You need to be signed up for the approved agency first..God bless and be careful, and do not do this, here, or any social media

yes…confirmed that no need visa to travel HK…But how about Korea..still need apply for visa?

All Filipinos still need visa to visit South Korea

Yes it would be nice for Filipinos to be able to travel to many more countries without visas. Unfortunately many Filipinos have a very bad reputation in other countries for visa overstay, illegal working, and prostitution. Feel sorry for the many upstanding citizens who are all tarnished by and looked down upon because of this behaviour.

This is not good or bad, but it is factual, for now

SORRY FOR THE MISS UNDERSTANDING IT IS NOT VISA FREE, JUST FREE FEE AND LESS HASSLES, BUT STILL NOTE BELOW:

There seems to be a movement to drop the visa requirements, but due to the large amount of people staying in the USA, and not returning, to their home country, a visa is required, as a means of seeking the people here, if they over stay…The same as I did, every 60 days in the Philippines

I checked with my wife and she qualifies, but the steps need to be taken, to obtain it and yes, there is a modest fee…It’s not that big of a deal…but it is all over the news that visas to enter the US for Filipino, is not required: That is not true, and I am ashamed of that, but the process is just more streamlined once you are interviewed…Just follow the game and get your visa

Here is a press release from your embassy, meaning Philippines, who I believe more, than social media

PRESS RELEASE WDC-024-2014 22 APRIL 2014

The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines would like to inform the public that there is no truth to what appears to be an online news report that the United States has announced a ‘no visa’ policy for Filipinos. The Embassy has been in touch with the US Department of State, which has denied making such an announcement. The Embassy reminds the public that the online article being circulated in social media is a satirical piece that should not be taken seriously.

One needs to understand, a great deal of work and cost goes into processing a visa, for someone, so there is a share of cost, meaning the taxpayers pay for the overhead, you pay for the extra costs inured to the State, for travel here

My does qualify, because of the financial prof and she has kids and family in the Philippines, as human security for her return there…I know that sounds bad, but people who go the Philippines, have income, people who come here, usually do not, and seek employment illegally, so income and family stability is important, so please understand

My sad apologies for my mistake and my government

Yes, there is no visa-free for Filipinos who want to visit USA. I just hope they would be more considerate with single people like me. It’s not like I won’t be coming back home LOL I just want to see New York, LA, Miami and more. 🙂

Yes, you are correct and I am wrong times two…It was a very bad joke (LIE frankly) started in the Philippines, on a many social websites and it went viral and I fell for it…I did deep research through our State Department, and there is talk, about visa changes, but here, in the USA, talk is cheap…One thing I can tell you is, there will never, ever be visa free, because no one goes home,,,They also seem to still charge a huge fee, for the visa, regardless of time stayed, and even though the questions are less rude and SEEM to be less unfair, the chances of getting a visa, even to visit, and spend money here, you will be refused and the fees are kept…I would love to pick you up at the airport, and tour you around…I am close to Disneyland and other places of interest, so this sticks for me also..I am super sorry normal people like you cannot come here, for a visit

How about taiwan???..they didn’t mention it so it means we need visa in Taiwan??am I right???

Hi… I’m just confused cause some sites say that I Filipinos need to apply for a visa to have an opportunity to tour in Thailand and then I read about this information of yours.. Can u pls tell me about what really is the truth about “going to Thailand requirements”? Thank you.

You forgot to include Myanmar on your list.

how much it cost for applying visa on India

“Fair Privilege” A person’s point of view from 3rd world country There are obviously high number of 3rd world people making issues in 1st world countries. There is a strict visa policy to be fair with those people LIKE YOU who only travels and stays in the country legally. Thats what you call FAIR because at least we do not ban all of you. Hope someday Filipinos can travel as many visa-free countries as we can. It is hard to travel with filipino gf. Have a good day

INDIA does not (or no longer) issues ‘tourist visa on arrival’ for Filipinos. They still call it that though. Its very misleading. You need to pay and apply online which will take 72 hrs to process.

Good to know. Thanks for the heads up. 🙂

79 Visa-Free Countries (+eVisa & VOA) for Filipinos

Last Updated on – Jun 21, 2023 @ 9:04 am

With the number of countries offering visa-free access to Pinoys reaching 66 this year , there’s no better time than now to travel.

The Philippines’ is ranked #70 in the list of the world’s strongest passport.

This is based on the Henley Passport Index that looks into the “Travel freedom of countries based on an authoritative database of the travel information”.

Neighboring country Singapore is at second place, while Japan is the current champ with visa-free access to 189 countries.

What is Visa?

It’s an official endorsement that the passport holder is allowed to enter a particular country. It’s used to determine the following:

  • The duration of your stay
  • Date when you should leave
  • Dates when you can enter the country
  • How many times you’re allowed to visit a country
  • Details of your work rights and/or other labor-related information

Types of Tourist Visas

1. visa-free.

Visa-free allows you to enter a country without the need for a visa. You are given a specific amount of time for your stay.

2. VISA-ON-ARRIVAL

Visa-on-Arrival (VOA) is granted upon entry at the airport of the country you’re visiting. There is no application required beforehand. You will be assisted by the immigration officials who will be the ones issuing your visa after all required paperwork and fees have been taken care of.

3. VISA-REQUIRED

Visa-required needs you to apply for a visa in the embassy or consulate before traveling into the country you plan to visit (for business or tourist visas). You’ll be asked to provide supporting documents proving your medical status, financial capacity , prior travel history, and others.

eVisa is convenient as it allows you to apply via the internet. The actual visa is stored in the immigration’s database and a corresponding passport number will be linked to it for verification.

Requirements for Visa Application

Each country you visit will require you to submit requirements based on their policies. So don’t be surprised if the occasional hiccup occurs.

It happens.

However, there are documents and resources that you absolutely must have and prepare in advance. Having these will save you a lot of time and help avoid any hassles.

  • A passport that is valid for six months minimum
  • A completely-filled out visa application form
  • Previous visas
  • Passport photos
  • Travel and Medical Insurance
  • Proof of financial capacity

These are the most common requirements you should have with you always.

Make sure to visit the country’s official immigration website for details beforehand so you’ll know exactly what you’ll need.

Tips to Get Approved for Visa Faster

Here’s the thing about applying for Visas: It’s not 100% “standard” each time.

You might get approved without much fuss one time and then be rejected completely even when you submitted the same set of paperwork.

While the following tips don’t guarantee you’ll get approved automatically, they help in increasing your chances of getting approved quickly.

1. Complete and bring all paperwork and related documents

Embassy officials aren’t your teachers. You can’t simply say “ Follow up ko na lang later ma’am ” when you realize you forgot an important document.

They won’t accept it if it’s incomplete. Save yourself and others the hassle by being diligent in your preparation. Doing so ensures the whole process runs smoothly.

In completing forms, be thorough and accurate. During the interview, provide sufficient details but don’t go overboard.

It’s not about being “makwento” or casual to feign confidence. Just answer what they ask for in a polite yet confident manner.

2. Radical Honesty for the reason of your visit

If Brother Bo Sanchez promotes “Radical Patience” as a secret to building wealth , you have to apply “Radical Honesty” when stating the reason for your visit.

Make sure to apply for the appropriate visa (student, visitor, are different) and be true in your intentions.

3. Proof of Financial Capacity

Here are some of the most common documents that might be required for proving your solvency/financial capacity:

Employed Person:

  • COE – Certificate of Employment
  • Most recent payslips
  • Income Tax Return (ITR)

Self-employed:

  • Copy of Business Permit
  • Tax statements
  • Bank Statement and Financial Reports (most recent)
  • Copies of credit cards, bank certificates, or bank statements (personal)
  • Proof financial assets
  • Documents proving period of time and date of retirement
  • Pension-related documents

Students/Minors

  • Sponsorship letter (from guardians/parents) with corresponding documents showing proof of solvency
  • Official documentation from school/university as proof of scholarship along with the complete details (duration, etc.,)
  • Proof of investments or financial assets
  • Copies of personal financial documents like bank statements and credit cards
  • Sponsorship letter with corresponding documents showing proof of solvency

4. Proof showing that you won’t be overstaying

Embassies want to see proof that you have strong ties here that will urge you to go back to your mother country.

This is to prevent risks of overstaying through illegal means. These are the most common ones:

  • Leave of absence or Certificate of employment
  • Proof of ownership of property or business
  • Documents showing proof that you’re enrolled here currently
  • Leave of absence
  • Letter from sponsors emphasizing reasons you won’t be overstaying

Non-Visa Requirements

1. Passport validity length

  • Check the expiration date on your passport and make sure it’s still good for 6 months.

2. Fingerprinting

  • Plenty of countries require that all visitors from foreign nations provide their fingerprints upon arrival. Anyone refusing to do so will not be granted entry or worse, be apprehended by authorities.

3. Blank passport pages

  • A good number of countries require visitors to have the minimum number of blank pages on their visas. Note that endorsement pages are not counted.

4. Criminal record

  • Some countries (e.g Australia, Canada, Fiji, New Zealand and the United States [351]) routinely deny entry to non-citizens who have a criminal record.
  • There are countries who will deny visiting non-citizens who have a criminal record. US, Australia, New Zealnd, and Canada are examples.

5. Vaccination

  • Almost all African nations require that visitors present an International Certificate of Vaccination prior entry. There are some countries that only require vaccination if they came from a known infected area or have visited one recently.

Traveling abroad has never been easier. Whether it’s on nearby ASEAN countries or other must-visit continents, the ability to travel visa-free is a huge perk for us Pinoys.

You get to bypass the arduous (and sometimes frustrating) step of applying for a visa, which is not really a hassle-free process here in our country.

Let’s hope more countries open their soil to Filipinos without the need for the visa, so we can get to experience and enjoy what other nations and cultures have to offer.

You should add Russia under the “E-Visa” category. Since July 1st, 2019, Filipino passports have been given the privilege to enter Kaliningrad with an e-visa rather than through the traditional visa application procedures. The “Russian Embassy in the Philippines” page in FB has announced it already.

PHILIPPINES PASSPORT VISA FREE COUNTRIES: Understanding the types of visas

If it’s your first time to travel or have very limited experience, this section will help you understand the types of visas or terminologies that they use.

What is a visa

A visa is an international legal permit proving that the holder is allowed to enter, stay, and leave the country.

Some countries will require you to hold or apply for a visa before you enter their country, while there are countries that they don’t ask you to obtain one. All you need to do is arrive and leave in time to avoid any problems in the future.

What are the visa types

These are the following visa types or tag used for visas:

VISA FREE  – This means that you do not need to apply for a visa for a certain number of days. Make sure that you look up how many days you can only stay. The immigration officer will stamp your passport with the details of your entry and/or exit. Overstaying your visa can lead to a very serious problem. While some countries will require you to show a hotel booking and a  flight ticket  exiting their country. For Filipinos, many Southeast Asia, African, Central, and South American countries are visa-free.

VISA ON ARRIVAL (VOA)  – Visa on arrival means that you can get the visa once you arrive. Now, visa on arrival can be a little tricky, some visa on arrival can only be received if you enter through a specific border point; via air, land, or sea. So, make sure you check this before you booked a ticket. Visa on arrival must be paid when you enter the immigration control after you land. Make sure that you have US Dollars with you all the time.

EVISA  – This type of visa can be done online, they can be free or upon a fee. In some cases, you can apply for this in a matter of days before your arrival while others can take up to weeks. You will also be asked to pay through online and submit your data.

VISA REQUIRED  – When a visa is required, you either need to apply on the embassy or through a third party depending on the embassy’s policy. A set of documents will be required to be submitted, this is also the visa that can take up from weeks to months to be processed.

Several years ago, I was travelling from Zambia to Mozambique. Since there was no direct flight, I had to transit via Johannesburg, So. Africa. However, I was denied boarding in Zambia. According to the immigration in Zambia, I must have a South African visa even I’m only in transit. Visa on arrival in Mozambique will not help if transiting thru So. Africa.

I find this strange and very inconvenient. Is there a way to determine the visa requirements of certain countries for pax in transit?

Thank you, Tito Gonzaga

Hello Tito,

I do find it strange too, if you are transiting only and not crossing the immigration office, you should be able to connect in South Africa. I found this info on VFS: https://www.vfsglobal.com/southafrica/uk/transit_visa.html

In situations like this, I always find it best to contact the Embassies of the countries I’m transiting through and get an email printed as proof.

Unfortunately, I don’t know any sites that focuses on transit visa information but I’ll keep an eye and add it on this comment thread.

Were you able to get a visa on arrival for Zambia? I am flying tomorrow.

Good day Mary, Iam a Ph passport holder traveling to Timor-Leste on January 24 2020, will be arriving at President Nicolau Lobato International Airport, I would like to ask if visa on arrival is available for me at the airport and if need to secure Visa application authorization prior to arrival. Thank you!

I’ve replied to your message on FB 🙂

I think it would be helpful if the cost of visas for the countries that require them for Philippine passport holders be included in your information.

I am also curious to know if the costs of an Australian and New Zealand visas for a Philippine passport holder are cheaper if you apply in the Philippines versus if you apply in the United States as a green card holder,

Thanks for the feedback, the costs of visas changes very often, also the prices depends on a few things like the number of entries, type of visa, and validity, to name a few, sometimes the prices for the minor is also different. Adding prices can lead to more confusion.

I’m not sure about the prices of visas to Australia and New Zealand if applying in the US, however, the Australian tourist visa if you apply in the Philippines is AUD$140 and NZ tourist visa is USD$165. Perhaps you can compare these information to the prices in the US. If you are applying through the Embassy, often, the prices are the same.

Hope this helps.

Countries to Visit w/o Visa Requirements for Philippine Passport Holders 2020

It’s 2020, and it’s generally a great time to travel the world. This is because visa policies of certain countries have become more relaxed in recent years. But if that’s not enough to convince you to go, then this probably will: Did you know that there are countries where Filipinos can travel without the need for a visa? In fact, there are 67 of them, as per the Henley Passport Index .

Aside from the non-visa requirement, there are certain documents which you’ll still need to present when traveling to a country. The following are some of the general conditions which you need to meet, so be sure to have these in check:

  • Passport with remaining validity of at least six months from the date of entry. (Make sure to have your passport renewed if it’s about to expire or is still valid but no longer has blank visa pages.)
  • Confirmed hotel reservation and a return flight ticket
  • Staying in the destination country within the allowed maximum period. (If you plan to stay longer, you have to secure an appropriate visa depending on your purpose of visit, e.g.  tourist visa or working visa)
  • No criminal record and have not previously overstayed in the destination country

When traveling to visa-free countries, you simply have to check in with your passport at the immigration counter of the airport. The immigration officer may ask for a copy of your hotel booking and/or return ticket.

What Are the Visa-Free Countries Filipinos Can Visit?

Countries that Issue Visa-on-Arrival

Perhaps the next best thing to visiting countries without any visa requirement, is visiting those that issue visa-on-arrival . As its name suggests, travellers are issued their visa from the immigration at the destination country’s airport.

Unlike other countries that require a visa, those with visa-on-arrival schemes do not require visitors to undergo a pre-application process in their country of origin. What happens is that upon arrival, immigration officers will ask for documents such as a valid passport, return ticket, proof of hotel booking, and passport-size photo. They may also ask for a visa fee, which travellers must pay to be allowed entry in the country.

In spite of this, visa-on-arrival countries are still among the easiest destinations to visit, just like visa-free countries.

As a  Philippines passport holder , I’m sure you understand that while it is fun to circle around the globe, it can be a pain to get visas – or is it? I remember back in the days, I would hear people saying,  ‘Na-deny US visa ko e’ . And yes, that can be heartbreaking.

VARIOUS TOURIST VISAS EXPLAINED

Imagine a visa like a key. It opens the gates of other countries so you can see and explore the many wonders they hold. Essentially, a travel visa is entry permission containing details like:

  • When you can visit a country
  • When you must leave
  • How long you can stay
  • The number of permitted visits; and
  • Work rights, among others

As a traveler, a tourist visa  is what you should secure. These can be classified according to the method of the issue by your chosen destination:

1. VISA-FREE means you can enter a country without a visa and stay for a particular period of time. You only need a return flight ticket, hotel booking and pocket money for the immigration! The passport must have remaining validity of at least six months.

2. VISA-ON-ARRIVAL  (VOA) means you receive a visa to enter the country at the airport where you land. No pre-application is required unless stated in their requirements. An immigration officer grants your visa when you show up and only after any associated visa fees have been paid.

3. VISA-REQUIRED  means you have to seek and apply for a visa in the embassy, consulate or approved travel partner before flying into the country of interest. A certain set of requirements may be required to aid in the decision regarding your grant. This may include documents that support your financial ability, medical condition, and previous travel history. More on this later.

4. e-VISA  means your visa application is done through the internet. There is no label, sticker, or stamp placed on your passport before travel. Your visa is on the immigration computer and is linked to your passport number.

Hello Kach, I’m in Thailand now. I’m working here. I plan to travel to Armenia. I would like to request you to guide me, regarding traveling there…? The following are the concerns: 1. Armenia is Visa-Free. Can I just book a plane ticket from Bangkok to Yerevan and travel there? Or, do I have to go to the Armenian Embassy in Bangkok, and apply for an Armenian Visa stamped on my PH Passport? 2. Does the 120 days Visa Free for PH Passport Holder be really given? or Is there a possibility, that 120 days will be reduced to 90 days or even less, by the Armenian Embassy Personnel..? I will politely wait for your answer in my email. Thanks so much.

Hi Carolus,

Regarding your concerns:

1. Armenia is not Visa-free. It’s Visa on Arrival. I would suggest you apply an e-visa to make things easier. Though it is not difficult to get the visa upon arrival. They will just ask your personal details and the number of days you are staying in Armenia. This will determine the number of days they will give you. Been there last November and they gave me 21 days for a 4-day stay.

Hope this helps.

Hi – I love your adventures. I follow your blogs. You got me interested in travelling to Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

My problem though is I still don’t have visa for Azerbaijan. I already booked my flight and hotel accomodations.

Will you be so kind to share with me the travel agency who helped process your visa? The closest embassy is in Jakarta and I am hesitant to send my passport because my flight is on Dec 30 and I can’t afford to lose it in transit.

Hope to hear from you. Regards.

Already replied to you! Ingat po! =)

I want work visa sir of canada or austrellia i am from pakistan

Regarding Taiwan, we have not applied for a VISA for our trip in November yet but is it already confirmed that VISA Free will now be implemented?

Nope, it’s not yet confirmed.

No no no no.Right now you will pay a lot for visa to Taiwan.

Hi Kach and Jon, I’m quite confused as to whether Turks and Caicos is part of the visa free country a Philippine passport holder can visit. I have seen on other web pages that it is part of the list but not on here. Which is which? Please enlighten me on this one as we’re planning for a trip this December.

Maraming salamat!

Only if you have a valid USA visa.

Hi! Good day! I’d just like to ask if I’m going to go to Taiwan when the visa free policy starts, what things/documents should I bring to the airport (aside from my passport and return/onward ticket)? I’d be glad to hear from you 🙂

Thank you 🙂

THAILAND (Visa-Free for 30 days)

Filipinos can travel visa-free to Thailand for 30 days.

Southeast Asia includes the nation of Thailand . It has tropical beaches, lavish royal palaces, historic ruins, and elaborate temples with Buddha statues, much like the Philippines. The renowned temples of Wat Arun, Wat Pho, and the Emerald Buddha Temple coexist among canalside neighborhoods and an ultramodern metropolis in the capital of Bangkok (Wat Phra Kaew). The crowded beach towns of Pattaya and Hua Hin are nearby.

  • RAILAY BEACH – The province of Krabi is home to some of Thailand’s most well-known beach resorts, with Railay topping the list as one of the most beautiful. With its white sand, turquoise water, and the impression that you’ve found a piece of paradise even before your feet touch the sand, Railay is widely regarded as one of the best beaches in the nation. Between Krabi town and Ao Nang, you may take a boat to the island. The journey on a long-tail traditional boat is equally as magical as what you’ll find when you arrive at the shores.
  • KOH PHI PHI – The Phi Phi Islands are among Thailand’s most well-known tourist destinations for a reason: the crystal-clear waters, the fine sand, and the spectacular views that never end. You can rent a kayak to get here or hire a small wooden boat to take you there to get to Phi Phi Don, the biggest and only island that is continuously inhabited. Monkey Beach is arguably one of the most entertaining locations on Koh Phi Phi, where you’ll practically come face to face with a lot of macaques waiting to steal your lunch.
  • THE GRAND PALACE, BANGKOK – Even if your main goals for your trip to Thailand are to laze on a beach and consume as much Massaman curry and pad Thai as you can, you’ll undoubtedly spend at least a day or two in Bangkok. There are many sights and activities to enjoy in the city, but the Grand Palace should be at the top of your list. This is the top tourist destination in the city, and it is astounding in terms of both its historical importance and craftsmanship.
  • WALKING STREET, CHIANG MAI – Every tourist to Thailand looks forward to finding affordable, delectable cuisine, and Chiang Mai’s Sunday Night Walking Street has enough of both. In this market, vendors provide a wide variety of delights, including the well-known pad Thai and chicken satay as well as samosas, fried bananas, sweet roti, and fresh fruit drinks.

How many Countries require a Travel Visa from Philippine Passport Holders?

There are 120 Countries that require a travel visa from Philippine Passport Holders including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Greece, Ireland, France, and Iceland.

Travel visa refers to an official document that Philippine Passport Holders obtain from their destination country to authorize them to enter its border and territory.

What are the Advantages of Traveling to Visa-Free Countries for Filipinos

The advantages refer to the helpful effects of traveling to visa-free countries for Filipinos.

1. Saves you Money

Traveling to visa-free countries allows you to save money. You do not need to apply for a travel visa which probably costs thousands of pesos to cover the processing fee charged by the embassy of the destination country. Plus, the fact that there is no assurance that your visa application will be granted.

Some countries only offer a 1-year single/multiple entry visa to their borders, this means that every year you need to spend cash to process a visa.

2. Allows you to travel immediately

Visa-free countries allow you to travel immediately with little to no preparation. You can take advantage of the long weekends plus 1-day leave (hahaha) in the Philippines to enjoy 4 days 3 nights tour to a visa-free country.

When a long weekend shows up in your schedule, you can just purchase an airline ticket ahead of time and you are good to go. There are airfare promotions from airline companies that you can utilize to save more.

However, when traveling to countries that require a visa,  you have to consider the visa validity duration, which must coincide with your scheduled vacation leave in your company, and it should also coincide with an affordable airline ticket. Otherwise, you will probably have a hard time making a decision to carry out your plans or just cancel them.

3. No need to fill out visa application form and submit requirements

Visa-free countries do not require you to fill out a visa application form and submit requirements.

4. You will gain Travel Experience

Traveling outside of the Philippines is not always a walk in the park or pure enjoyment. Sometimes, you will also encounter issues and problems that you can learn something from. Take note of the troubles you encounter and the solutions that you have done. Make sure that when you go out of the country, you will reduce the chance that it will happen again.

5. Experience Different Cultures and Seasons

When you travel outside of the country, you will be exposed to different cultures aside from the Philippines. You will know the dos and don’ts in your destination country.

You will have a bird’s eye view of how the locals live their lives, the cost of living, popular local food, discipline, weather, dress code, and history.

You can also compare the different airline inflight food to know which among offers the best-tasting budget food.

Philippine passport holders regain visa-free entrance to jeju, yangyang.

The Good News Pilipinas Team

Philippine passport holders are regaining visa-free entrance to Jeju and Yangyang in South Korea beginning June 1, 2022.

The South Korean tourism program for short-term visits by international travelers without a required visa will again be in effect since it was suspended in June 2020 as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19.

Korea Tourism Organization announced in early May the resumption of the visa-free program for most international travelers including those from the Philippines entering Jeju and Yangyang via international airports.

  • The visa-free entrance to Jeju attracts Filipinos and other nationalities to the island province which boasts of both natural and cultural offerings including film sites for Korean dramas (Boys Over Flowers, Secret Garden, Jewel in the Palace, The Legend of the Blue Sea).
  • Entrance to Yangyang in Gangwon (Winter Sonata, Crash Landing On You, It’s Okay Not to Be Okay) is visa-free for groups of 5 or more travelers from the Philippines traveling to Korea through a designated travel agency.

Filipinos can also apply to visit other parts of South Korea with the Short-Term Travel Visa and Electronic Visa processing also resuming on June 1.

  • The short-term visa (C-3) allows foreigners from countries classified as Level 1 (low level of COVID cases) to stay for up to 90 days for marketing research, travel, visiting relatives, meetings, or similar reasons.
  • E-visa for foreigners with excellent skills, foreign patients, and group tourists, which were suspended in April 2020 will also resume issuance on June 1 via the Korea Visa Portal .

China Travel Advisory

Travel advisory april 12, 2024, mainland china, hong kong & macau - see summaries.

Updated due to new national security legislation in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

Summary:  Reconsider travel to Mainland China due to the arbitrary enforcement of local laws, including in relation to exit bans, and the risk of wrongful detentions.

Exercise increased caution when traveling to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) due to the arbitrary enforcement of local laws .

Reconsider travel to the Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) due to a limited ability to provide emergency consular services . Exercise increased caution when traveling to the Macau SAR due to the arbitrary enforcement of local laws .

See specific risks and conditions in each jurisdiction .

Mainland China – Level 3: Reconsider Travel

Reconsider travel due to the arbitrary enforcement of local laws , including in relation to exit bans, and the risk of wrongful detentions .

Summary:  The People’s Republic of China (PRC) government arbitrarily enforces local laws, including issuing exit bans on U.S. citizens and citizens of other countries, without fair and transparent process under the law.

The Department of State has determined the risk of wrongful detention of U.S. nationals by the PRC government exists in the PRC.

U.S. citizens traveling or residing in the PRC may be detained without access to U.S. consular services or information about their alleged crime. U.S. citizens in the PRC may be subjected to interrogations and detention without fair and transparent treatment under the law.

Foreigners in the PRC, including but not limited to businesspeople, former foreign-government personnel, academics, relatives of PRC citizens involved in legal disputes, and journalists have been interrogated and detained by PRC officials for alleged violations of PRC national security laws. The PRC has also interrogated, detained, and expelled U.S. citizens living and working in the PRC.

PRC authorities appear to have broad discretion to deem a wide range of documents, data, statistics, or materials as state secrets and to detain and prosecute foreign nationals for alleged espionage. There is increased official scrutiny of U.S. and third-country firms, such as professional service and due diligence companies, operating in the PRC. Security personnel could detain U.S. citizens or subject them to prosecution for conducting research or accessing publicly available material inside the PRC.

Security personnel could detain and/or deport U.S. citizens for sending private electronic messages critical of the PRC, Hong Kong SAR, or Macau SAR governments.

In addition, the PRC government has used restrictions on travel or departure from the PRC, or so-called exit bans, to:

  • compel individuals to participate in PRC government investigations;
  • pressure family members of the restricted individual to return to the PRC from abroad;
  • resolve civil disputes in favor of PRC citizens; and
  • gain bargaining leverage over foreign governments.

U.S. citizens might only become aware of an exit ban when they attempt to depart the PRC, and there may be no available legal process to contest an exit ban in a court of law. Relatives, including minor children, of those under investigation in the PRC may become subject to an exit ban.

The PRC government does not recognize dual nationality. Dual U.S.-PRC citizens and U.S. citizens of Chinese descent may be subject to additional scrutiny and harassment. If you are a U.S. citizen and choose to enter Mainland China on travel documents other than a U.S. passport and are detained or arrested, the PRC government may not notify the U.S. Embassy or the U.S. Consulates General or allow consular access.

Check with the PRC Embassy in the United States for the most updated information on travel to the PRC. In some limited circumstances travelers to Mainland China may face additional COVID-19 testing requirements to enter some facilities or events.

The Department of State does not provide or coordinate direct medical care to private U.S. citizens abroad. U.S. citizens overseas may receive PRC-approved COVID-19 vaccine doses where they are eligible.

Do not consume drugs in the PRC or prior to arriving in the PRC. A positive drug test, even if the drug was legal elsewhere, can lead to immediate detention, fines, deportation, and/or a ban from re-entering the PRC. PRC authorities may compel cooperation with blood, urine, or hair testing. Penalties for drug offense may exceed penalties imposed in the United States.

Demonstrations : Participating in demonstrations or any other activities that authorities interpret as constituting an act of secession, subversion, terrorism, or collusion with a foreign country could result in criminal charges. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid demonstrations.

XINJIANG UYGHUR AUTONOMOUS REGION, TIBET AUTONOMOUS REGION, and TIBETAN AUTONOMOUS PREFECTURES

Extra security measures, such as security checks and increased levels of police presence and surveillance, are common in the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, Tibet Autonomous Region, and Tibetan Autonomous Prefectures. Authorities may impose curfews and travel restrictions on short notice.

If you decide to travel to Mainland China:

  • Enter the PRC on your U.S. passport with a valid PRC visa and keep it with you.
  • Read the travel information page for Mainland China .
  • Enroll in the  Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP)  to receive alerts and make it easier to locate you in an emergency.
  • Avoid demonstrations.

Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) – Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution

Exercise increased caution due to the arbitrary enforcement of local laws .

Summary: Hong Kong SAR authorities have dramatically restricted civil liberties since the Government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) imposed the Law of the PRC on Safeguarding National Security in the Hong Kong SAR on June 30, 2020. Following the Hong Kong SAR government’s enactment of its own Safeguarding National Security Ordinance on March 23, 2024, Hong Kong SAR authorities are expected to take additional actions to further restrict civil liberties.

The 2020 National Security Law outlines a broad range of vaguely defined offenses, such as acts of secession, subversion, terrorism, and collusion with foreign entities. The 2024 Safeguarding National Security Ordinance builds on this framework with additional vaguely defined offenses, such as treason, insurrection, theft of state secrets, sabotage against public infrastructure, and external interference. According to the legislation, these offenses are applicable to foreign nationals within the Hong Kong SAR and to individuals, including U.S. citizens and permanent residents, located outside its borders. Under these provisions, anyone who criticizes the PRC and/or Hong Kong SAR authorities may face arrest, detention, expulsion, and/or prosecution. Hong Kong SAR authorities are attempting to enforce these provisions against individuals, including U.S. citizens and permanent residents, residing outside of their jurisdiction by offering cash rewards for information leading to their arrests in the Hong Kong SAR.

Dual Nationality: The Hong Kong SAR government does not recognize dual nationality. Dual U.S.-PRC citizens and U.S. citizens of Chinese descent may be subject to additional scrutiny and harassment. If you are a dual U.S.-PRC citizen and enter Hong Kong SAR on a U.S. passport, and you are detained or arrested, PRC authorities are under an obligation to notify the U.S. Embassy or a U.S. Consulate General of your detention and to allow U.S. consular officials to have access to you. In practice, however, U.S. consular officers may be prevented from providing consular assistance, even to those who have entered on their U.S. passports. For more information, visit Consular Protection and Right of Abode in HK(SAR) for Dual Nationals - U.S. Consulate General Hong Kong & Macau .

Demonstrations : Participating in demonstrations or any other activities that authorities interpret as constituting an act of secession, subversion, terrorism, or collusion with a foreign country could result in criminal charges under the 2020 National Security Law and/or the 2024 Safeguarding National Security Ordinance. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid demonstrations.

If you decide to travel to the Hong Kong SAR:

  • Enter the Hong Kong SAR on your U.S. passport and keep it with you.
  • Read the travel information page for the Hong Kong SAR .
  • Be aware of your surroundings.
  • If you are arrested or detained, ask police or prison officials to notify U.S. Consulate General Hong Kong & Macau immediately.
  • Review the China Country Security Report from the Overseas Security Advisory Council.
  • Do not consume drugs in the Hong Kong SAR or prior to arriving in the Hong Kong SAR.

  • Monitor local media, local transportations sites, and apps like  MTR Mobile  or  Citybus  for updates.

Macau Special Administrative Region (SAR) – Level 3: Reconsider Travel

Reconsider travel due to a limited ability to provide emergency consular services. Exercise increased caution due to the arbitrary enforcement of local laws.

Summary:  The U.S. government has a limited ability to provide emergency services to U.S. citizens in the Macau SAR due to People’s Republic of China (PRC) Ministry of Foreign Affairs travel restrictions on U.S. diplomatic personnel.

Even in an emergency, the PRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs requires all U.S. diplomatic personnel, including those accredited to the Macau SAR, to apply for and receive visas before entering the Macau SAR. Approval takes at least five to seven days, significantly limiting the U.S. government’s ability to offer timely consular services in the Macau SAR.

Dual Nationality: The Macau SAR government does not recognize dual nationality. Dual U.S.-PRC citizens and U.S. citizens of Chinese descent may be subject to additional scrutiny and harassment. If you are a dual U.S.-PRC citizen and enter the Macau SAR on a U.S. passport, and you are detained or arrested, PRC authorities are under an obligation to notify the U.S.

Demonstrations : Participating in demonstrations or any other activities that authorities interpret as constituting an act of secession, subversion, terrorism, or collusion with a foreign country could result in criminal charges. Be aware of your surroundings and avoid demonstrations.

If you decide to travel to the Macau SAR:

  • Enter the Macau SAR on your U.S. passport and keep it with you.
