wow travel continents

The faction city portals were removed from Shattrath and Dalaran with the Cataclysm. See the Cataclysm travel guide and living without portal hubs for some suggestions.

Most players will need to use traditional methods of travel to reach destinations in the Old World, such as boats and zeppelins. See the Cataclysm travel guide and living without portal hubs for some suggestions.

Alliance mages get the portals to Ironforge , Stormwind and Exodar at level 40, and Darnassus at level 50.

Horde mages get the portals to Undercity , Orgrimmar and Silvermoon at level 40, and Thunder Bluff at level 50.

All mages can learn the Shattrath portal spell at level 65 and the Dalaran portal spell at level 74.

You should be prepared to give the mage some coin. It is generally considered common courtesy to include a tip for the mage's trouble. As with all player characters, mages vary in temperament and helpfulness, although 2-3 gold is usually sufficient to buy a portal from any mage. Warlocks need two-party members present ( with the Warlock), to perform a summons so they don't commonly perform one unless you are already in their party or in their guild.

Of course, these methods can cost money and if you are not hiking you will not pick up flight path points. Still, the above options the fastest ways if you simply want to reach Stormwind as a level 6 night elf just because all your friends are one of the three other races and you want to level with them.

Inns and the Hearthstone

Wyverns, gryphons, bats, dragonhawks and hippogryphs

Pointer flight on 32x32.png

One of the most common forms of transportation in World of Warcraft is flying. Gryphons and hippogryphs provide this for the Alliance , while Wyverns, Dragonhawks and Bats are aligned with the Horde . Many settlements have a flight point , with an NPC who will allow you to travel to various connected points for a fee. Before you can use a flight path you must travel to it on foot and "learn" the path by clicking on the flight path NPC who will have a green ! above their heads. (There are a few exceptions: All characters start with the flight point of their racial capital. Death knights automatically know every flight point in Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms. Some Outland and Northrend flight points are learned automatically or through quests.) Flight paths are fixed; you cannot control the creature you are on, so sit back and enjoy the view.

While in flight, you cannot perform any skills (except for activating certain auras), but you can tinker with macro functions, set up your action bar , equip gear , chat , and adjust your game configuration settings. This is an excellent time to change your video settings, especially if your computer is slow to change them. (The color-depth settings are reset to default each time you load the game.)

Zeppelins and boats

wow travel continents

Travel between the two continents and to locations more remote than are accessible via flight path is done via large Zeppelins, Boats, or similar. These cost nothing to use and operate on a fairly rapid schedule. They are also a relatively safe way to travel, for those with the correct faction alignment, as they usually have guards stationed at the stops. Anyone can use any of these travel options, but the guards will try to kill you if you are not liked by their faction, of course.

The goblins run a neutral (all players start neutral to Steamwheedle Cartel ) boat service between Ratchet ( Barrens ) and Booty Bay ( Stranglethorn Vale ).

The tuskarr run neutral boat services between Moa'ki Harbor ( Dragonblight ) and Unu'pe ( Borean Tundra ) and between Moa'ki Harbor and Kamagua ( Howling Fjord ).

For more details see: Zeppelin , Boat

Personal travel

Certain classes, such as mages , druids , hunters , and shaman , have different means of personal travel which help them get places faster. The engineering profession also allows use of four trinkets that allow personal teleportation to either Everlook and Area 52 if you took Goblin Engineering specialization or Gadgetzan and Toshley's Station if you took up gnomish specialization.

The Deeprun Tram

The Deeprun Tram provides free transportation between Stormwind and Ironforge . The entrances to the tram are found in the Dwarven District in Stormwind and in Tinkertown in Ironforge. There are 2 Trams and each of them will need 2 min to get to Ironforge (from Stormwind) and back, meaning that one has to wait 1 min at maximum.

It is also the only safe way to travel between Stormwind and Ironforge for low-level characters the first time as you cannot use flight paths until they are discovered. The areas between the two cities are for much higher-level characters.

If you are a low level character and wish to travel somewhere but the way is too dangerous, a good option is to have a mage portal spell you to the capital cities of your faction, or Shattrath Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Inlinegfx/img_link_data.json' not found. , Dalaran Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Inlinegfx/img_link_data.json' not found. , Tol Barad Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Inlinegfx/img_link_data.json' not found. , or Shrine of Two Moons / Shrine of Seven Stars Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Inlinegfx/img_link_data.json' not found. . Alternatively a warlock can use Ritual of Summoning with two other players to get you almost anywhere. Either method should get you closer to where you want to go.

Alliance mages get the portal spells to: Ironforge , Stormwind , Exodar , Darnassus and Theramore Isle at level 42; Shattrath City at level 66; Dalaran at level 74; Tol Barad at level 85; and Shrine of Seven Stars (named Vale of Eternal Blossoms ) at level 90.

All warlocks can learn Ritual of Summoning at level 42.

It is generally considered common courtesy to include a tip for the mage's trouble. As with all player characters, mages vary in temperament and helpfulness, although 2-3 gold is usually sufficient to buy a portal from any mage. Warlocks need two party members present ( in addition to the warlock), to perform a summons so they don't commonly perform one unless you are already in their party or in their guild.

Of course these methods can cost money and if you are not hiking you will not pick up flight path points. Still, the above options are the fastest ways to reach your desired destination.

Inns and the Hearthstone [ ]

When each player starts a new character, they automatically receive a hearthstone in their inventory that can be used for instant travel back to whatever inn it is bound to. Binding at an inn involves speaking to the innkeeper and selecting the "Make this inn my home" option. The hearthstone can only be used once every 30 minutes,(15 minutes if you are in a guild level 8 or higher) though shaman have a spell (called Astral Recall ) with the same effect. Shamans don't get it until level 34. If you accidentally delete your hearthstone, don't panic. Simply speak with an innkeeper, make that inn your new home, and you will receive a new hearthstone.

Flight masters [ ]

Pointer flight on 32x32

One of the most common forms of transportation in World of Warcraft is flying. Gryphons and hippogryphs provide this for the Alliance , while wyverns, dragonhawks, and bats are aligned with the Horde . Many settlements have a flight point , with an NPC who will allow you to travel to various connected points for a fee. as long as you have traveled there before and have talked to the flight master there. (not long before Flight paths were automatically learned, but they removed that again. you will need to have visited every flight point until you reach much higher level (70-90)) you will not be able to control the beast you are riding on. so sit back and enjoy the view. While in flight, you cannot perform any skills (except for activating certain auras), but you can tinker with macro functions, set up your action bar , equip gear , chat , and adjust your game configuration settings. This is an excellent time to change your video settings, especially if your computer is slow to change them. (The color-depth settings are reset to default each time you load the game.) finally, if you log out during the flight or enter an dungeon/battleground/raid. the spot will be saved with you on the beast. and the next time you enter azeroth. you will safely sit on it. but it will only continue to the next flight point and drop you there, instead of flying on to the final destination.

Cataclysm Boat and Zeppelin Route Map

Travel between the two continents and to locations more remote than are accessible via flight path is done via large Zeppelins, Boats, or similar. These cost nothing to use, and operate on a fairly rapid schedule. They are also a relatively safe way to travel, for those with the correct faction alignment, as they usually have guards stationed at the stops. Anyone can use any of these travel options, but the guards will try to kill you if you are not liked by their faction, of course.

The Horde has goblin-operated zeppelin services, wich can be easily found at a Zeppelin tower .

The Alliance has boat routes for passengers which can be easily found at the Boat post.

The Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Factiongfx/faction_tip_link.json' not found. Neutral Steamwheedle Cartel goblins run a neutral boat service between Booty Bay ( Cape of Stranglethorn , Eastern Kingdoms ) and Ratchet ( Northern Barrens , Kalimdor ). Both Horde and Alliance can use this boat, and Ratchet in the Northern Barrens is relatively safe to Alliance, although the other towns and outpost in the zone are Horde.

If you use this boat as Alliance and it's your first time entering Kalimdor, you can run south along the coast and cross the river into Southern Barrens where you will directly stumble onto the Northwatch Hold , or you can travel west until you reach an oasis near the Wailing Caverns , just next to the lava ridge, and then travel north onto the small pass into Ashenvale shown on the map. from where you can go northeast or west into an Alliance flight point. use an ashenvale map for better reference. Still, most are advised to use a wyvern if the Ratchet flight master has any available.

The Tuskarr Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Inlinegfx/img_link_data.json' not found. run neutral boat services between:

  • Unu'pe ( Borean Tundra ) ←→ Moa'ki Harbor ( Dragonblight ) ←→ Kamagua ( Howling Fjord )

Pandaria [ ]

Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Inlinegfx/img_link_data.json' not found. Transport to Pandaria doesn't go by a boat. you can find a portal to Honeydew Village Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Factiongfx/faction_tip_link.json' not found. and Paw'don Village Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Factiongfx/faction_tip_link.json' not found. in the Jade forest at the pandaren camps in Stormwind city and Orgrimmar (look for the big balloon).

In return, these two villages also have a portal back to Stormwind and Orgrimmar. alternatively you can use a heartstone to get to pandaria, or ask a mage for a portal. at your faction's operating base you can also buy Portal fuel back to Stormwind or Orgrimmar, wich you can activate at the same place where you buy it.

Last but not least, growing a portal shard on Sunsong Ranch in Valley of the Four Winds can give you a portal back to one of your faction's capital cities, but it must be activated on the very same farm.

Personal travel [ ]

Certain classes, such as mages , druids , hunters , and shaman , have different means of personal travel which help them get places faster. The Engineering profession also allows use of four trinkets that allow personal teleportation to either Everlook and Area 52 if you took Goblin Engineering specialization or Gadgetzan and Toshley's Station if you took up gnomish specialization.

Also at level 40, you may purchase black-colored PVP variants of racial mounts for 2000+ Honor Points , which you receive by competing in PvP combat. You must still pay for the riding training. You may purchase mounts of the same faction but different race, even if you are not exalted (i.e, a Draenei can purchase a Black War Horse even if he or she is not exalted with Stormwind .) You can never gain Black PVP variants of the other faction's mounts.

There are no special mounts for Paladins and Warlocks in Outland. Druids instantly get Flight Form and Expert Riding upon reaching level 58. At level 70, Swift Flight Form is available at the flying trainer once you purchase Artisan riding for 5000 gold.

The Deeprun Tram [ ]

The Deeprun Tram provides free transportation between Stormwind and Ironforge . The entrances to the tram are found in the Dwarven District in Stormwind and in Tinker Town in Ironforge. Two separate trams run the length of the two minute route.

It is also the only safe way to travel between Stormwind and Ironforge for low-level characters the first time as you cannot use flightpaths until they are discovered. The areas between the two cities are for much higher-level characters.

Portals [ ]

There are a few cities that provide free portal travel between major cities.

Special Burning Crusade portals [ ]

In the eastern room off of the courtyard in Undercity , there is a portal (technically an Orb of Translocation ) that leads to Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Inlinegfx/img_link_data.json' not found. Silvermoon City , which leads players to the Inner Sanctum . This is the only portal that can be used to go both ways (Undercity → Silvermoon City, Silvermoon City → Undercity). As the portal is Horde -aligned, it cannot be used by Alliance characters because it would trivialize raiding of Silvermoon City.

Despite the ferry between Rut'theran Village ( Teldrassil ) and Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Inlinegfx/img_link_data.json' not found. Valaar's Berth ( Azuremyst Isle ), there is also a portal between Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Inlinegfx/img_link_data.json' not found. The Exodar and Darnassus . As with the Undercity/Silvermoon City portal, this cannot be used by the Horde .

Blasted Lands and Hellfire Peninsula portals [ ]

Every capital city has a portal heading to the Blasted Lands (the Dark Portal ) and Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Module:Inlinegfx/img_link_data.json' not found. Hellfire Peninsula (the other side of the Dark Portal), typically in the section of the city where the mage trainers are located. This is useful for level 58 characters ready to head to Outland . In the faction camps just beyond the portal (so Hellfire Peninsula, not behind the hills in Blasted Lands) there are portals to Stormwind and Orgrimmar. You can use this combo to save a hearthstone 's cooldown. This is a quick way to get from other Alliance capitals to Stormwind or other Horde capitals to Orgrimmar.

Expansion hub portals [ ]

Typically the expansion hubs of each expansion will have portals leading to all the major cities. These are usually removed when the next expansion is released, but not always.

Navigating the World of Warcraft: How to Travel Between Continents

Are you a new player in the vast and magical world of Azeroth? Are you looking to explore different continents and discover new quests and adventures? Traveling between continents in World of Warcraft may seem like a daunting task at first, but with the right knowledge and guidance, you’ll be hopping from one continent to another in no time. In this article, we’ll discuss the various ways you can travel between continents in World of Warcraft.

Table of Contents

Using Flight Masters

One of the easiest and most convenient ways to travel between continents in World of Warcraft is by using Flight Masters. Flight Masters are NPC characters located in major cities and towns across different continents. They offer flight paths to various destinations, allowing players to travel quickly and efficiently between different areas. To use a Flight Master, simply locate the Flight Master NPC in your current location and speak to them. You’ll be presented with a list of available flight paths and destinations. Choose your desired destination, pay the fare, and sit back as you’re whisked away to your next adventure.

For players looking to travel between continents that are separated by bodies of water, boat rides are the way to go. Boat rides are available in ports and harbors in coastal areas, offering convenient transportation between different continents. To take a boat ride, head to the nearest port or harbor and look for the boat NPCs. Speak to them and choose your destination. Boat rides may take a bit longer than flight paths, but they offer a scenic and relaxing way to travel between continents.

Teleportation and Portals

Another method of traveling between continents in World of Warcraft is through teleportation and portals. Certain classes and races have access to abilities that allow them to teleport to specific locations or use portals to instantly travel between different areas. For example, mages have access to spells like ‘Teleport’ and ‘Portal’ that can transport them to major cities and hubs across Azeroth. Warlocks can summon demonic portals for quick travel. Keep an eye out for portals and teleportation abilities that can make traveling between continents a breeze.

Using Mounts and Flying Mounts

If you prefer to travel at your own pace and explore the landscape, using mounts and flying mounts is a great option. Mounts are creatures or vehicles that players can ride to travel faster on land, while flying mounts can take to the skies and soar between continents. Acquiring mounts can be done through various means, such as purchasing them from vendors, completing quests, or earning them through achievements. Once you have a mount, simply summon it and ride off to your desired destination. Flying mounts are especially useful for traveling between continents that are far apart.

Traveling between continents in World of Warcraft opens up a whole new world of exploration and adventure. Whether you choose to use Flight Masters for quick transportation, take a scenic boat ride, teleport with magical abilities, or ride on mounts across the land, there are plenty of options available to suit your playstyle.

WoW® Classic: Getting around Azeroth

There are various modes of mass transit available to those looking to get around Azeroth. While can gain access to a mount at level 40, collecting enough gold to train the skill and purchase a mount can be an endeavor. Even if you are one of those fortunate to purchase personal transportation, there are many times you’ll need to either board a ship, a zeppelin, take the Deeprun Tram, or hop on a flight path.  In many cases, you may want to travel with your friends as you make your way to zones, dungeons, or even out into the world to take part in some PvP. We’ve pulled together some information on each of these to help you make the most of your time in WoW® Classic.

Deeprun Tram

Located in the very heart of Alliance territory, the Deeprun Tram provides quick transportation between the capital cities of Stormwind and Ironforge—for free! To get to the tram, you’ll need to pass through the Dwarven District in Stormwind and Tinker Town in Ironforge.

Travel at your own risk! While some modes of transport are restricted to one faction or the other (such as most flight paths) the tram, zeppelins, and boats can technically be used by both. Getting into, onto, and out of each can be a tricky proposition and will put you at risk of encountering guards and—of course—other players who may not appreciate your presence. You have been warned.

Zeppelins provide free transportation for the Horde. These airships can travel greater distances, including across The Great Sea between the continents.

Tip: When in doubt as to which zeppelin travels to which location, you can ask the Zeppelin Master. Both the Orgrimmar and Undercity zeppelin towers are located just outside of the city.

Available Zeppelin Routes:

There is one neutral boat that is available for both Horde and Alliance which travels between Booty Bay in the Eastern Kingdoms and Ratchet in Kalimdor. Keep in mind that neutral doesn’t equate to “safe” if you’re on a PvP realm.

There are two different boats serving the Alliance located in Darkshore. One of these travels to Rut’theran in Teldrassil and is your way out of the night elf starting area and into Kalimodor. The other boat goes to Menethil Harbor in the Eastern Kingdoms.

An additional Alliance boat in Menethil Harbor travels to Theramore Isle in Kalimdor. For those on a PvP realm, this boat might be your safest option to reach The Barrens.

Flight Paths

Unlike boats, zeppelins, and the Deeprun Tram, you’ll need to pay for travel when you use a flight path. This can be potentially costly when you’re at lower levels and trying to pay for skills, buy new equipment, and more. You’ll also need to discover and learn the flight path which means the long run to each location and clicking on the flight master friendly to your faction.

...

Alliance Flight Paths

...

Horde Flight Paths

Two neutral flight paths usable by both Horde and Alliance can be found in Marshal's Refuge Un'Goro Crater and in Ratchet within The Barrens.

Wyverns, gryphons, bats, dragonhawks and hippogryphs [ ]

Pointer flight on 32x32

One of the most common forms of transportation in World of Warcraft is flying.

Zeppelins and boats [ ]

CataBoatZepRouteMap

Travel between the two continents and to locations more remote than are accessible via flight path is done via large Zeppelins, Boats, or similar. These cost nothing to use and operate on a fairly rapid schedule. They are also a relatively safe way to travel, for those with the correct faction alignment, as they usually have guards stationed at the stops. Anyone can use any of these travel options, but the guards will try to kill you if you are not liked by their faction, of course.

The Deeprun Tram [ ]

The Deeprun Tram provides free transportation between Stormwind and Ironforge .

Wow Classic Boats

Alright, today we’ll discuss Classic WoW and its flight paths. What? Classic WoW flight paths? Who cares about those flight paths? Well, this time, I’ll personally revamp the introduction of this article.

Before we delve into the enchanting world of flight masters and boats, let me ask you a question. Do you still use flight paths? Of course not, unless you’re in Wrath of the Lich King, and there’s no World of Warcraft: Cataclysm Classic. But hold on to your seats, because Blizzard has heard our prayers. They now regularly release new seasons of mastery, and each time they start a new season, new players immerse themselves in the classic World of Warcraft experience.

I know that all the veteran players in the world of Warcraft have no interest in flight paths because they already remember all of them perfectly. But there are some people who play the current World of Warcraft and want to test their skills in the mastery seasons. This is the only reason why Classic WoW flight paths will remain as timeless as the original Classic WoW.

So, in this article, you’ll learn about:

Flight Paths Basics

Boat Paths Wow

So, the FlightPaths in all of WoW, which mimic the Vanilla experience, are the way to save time while exploring the world. There are some newbie reasons to use them, and one pro tip.

Before you can use flight paths, you’ll need to discover them by visiting the flight master at a specific location. This allows you to unlock convenient routes for traveling across Azeroth. Whether you’re an Alliance player looking to save Warcraft Classic gold or a Horde character seeking a safer alternative to a dangerous route through Stranglethorn Vale or the Barrens, make sure to explore and interact with flight masters to unlock these valuable waypoints for your primary means of transportation.

Boat To Theramore Vanilla

You might be wondering, “Why use flightPaths?” Well, you’re using flightPaths mainly for one reason: to collect all the world buffs before entering a raid. The reason is that in the world of Warcraft: Classic, in any season of mastery, you can collect buffs, specifically world buffs, but they are limited. And in a world where all your stats are immediately low, this fact makes Barrens Camp Taurajo, with all those bloodstones, not as bad as it seemed before.

Another advantage in the flight path system is the boats. They transport you faster, and sometimes it’s much more effective to use a boat instead of taking the long flight path. Last but not least in this pact is a small fee for transporting your body from point A to point B! Non-optimized flight paths are costly, while optimized flight paths are always cheaper.

Classic Wow Boat To Theramore

So, now you’ve learned the main reason to use optimized flight paths: to collect world buffs for raids.

But all the other people can use those flight paths for:

  • Avoid dangerous areas;
  • Explore the world faster;
  • Convenient travel;
  • Escape tricky terrain;

Travel guide

Travel in the World of Warcraft is a daily concern, and for obvious reasons. Traveling between continents, or even between zones eats up time, and the longer something takes, the more time it takes up. Thus knowing the fastest routes between zones, or even the fastest routes between two locations on two separate continents can save the player valuable time.

The Continents [ ]

There are two continents in classic World of Warcraft, they are Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms .

Kalimdor [ ]

A mostly unsettled land, and the home terrain for the majority of the horde. They are clustered close together, with the tauren city of Thunderbluff , and the orc and troll city of Orgrimmar being a stone's throw away from each other across the horde zone known as the Barrens . The alliance on the other hand has their own foothold on this continent in the form of Darnassus , which is atop the world tree known as Teldrassil . Here the night elves have kept a silent vigil for over 10,000 years. Both factions remain on the northern end of Kalimdor within proximity to the World Tree .

To the south of the alliance and horde cities lies an unsettled and dangerous sequence of lands. The verdant jungle known as Feralas , the demonically dessicated Desolace , and the barren mountains known as the Thousand Needles . Even further to the south the Goblins of the Steamweedle Cartel have founded the goblin tekmaturgical city known as Gadgetzan near the Caverns of Time , the home of the Bronze Dragonflight . To the west is an untouched completely preserved land known as Un'Goro Crater , where ancient beasts known as Devilsaurs and Raptors roam freely next to semi-sentient blobs of protoplasm, Oozes .

In the south-west corner of this continent lays a place meant for no mortal to tread, a magical prison created by the Titans known as Silithus . Here ancient titan artifacts hover over the landscape, holding the Qiraji at bay around their master the imprisoned old god known as C'thun , a terrible god of madness. It was only recently that the Cenarion Circle became aware of C'Thun's existence, tipped off by archaeological findings from Brann Bonzebeard the brother of Magni Bronzebeard (King of Ironforge).

It is here that ancient Qiraji constructs have recently begun to wander the deserts once more, awoken by the now-ended hibernation of C'thun.

War Within: 3 Maps and an island are not a continent

I am very disappointed to think that I put the last coins into this War Within expansion. And now I have to play it because there is no refund because there is no more Blizz branch in Argentina. It’s going to be torture to play War Within. And you do you think? You liked the War Within maps.

What exactly were you expecting when they announced these same 4 zones at Blizzcon? They stated it was an island and 3 underground zones. Nothing has changed, we just have the artwork for it now.

But yes, I do like the map.

Looks like 4 new zones, same as DF. What’s the problem?

You really think that is the entire expansion? Are you really that clueless? I mean, you have obviously played every other expansion.

So this must be one of the usual troll attempts you post on a semi regular basis. To be honest, I am surprised there was no claim of face slapping involved.

waaaa muh continent waaa no refund

Following their recent “traditions”, they will probably add new zones with major patches.

So don’t play it. Nobody’s gonna force you.

Imo, it’s the opposite of DF:

We mostly get underground zones instead of an island, like Zaralek Caverns, but multiple zones wide.

And then Isle of Dorn is basically Zaralek, but above-ground. Or Forbidden Reach or what-have-you.

It’s been inverted.

They quite literally announced what this was going to look like in November. And then you pre-ordered it and now you’re upset?

Having played on the Beta the Zones feel fun to explore. Even the Underground ones are pretty big. Ringing Deeps feels a bit like Zaralek, but the rest are pretty expansive.

I am going to wait 4 days after it is available to see if I can save $40, since they seem to justify the reverse value.

Really liking the looks of Menzoberranzan

How many maps is Australia?

It’s an isle, alright.

Devs don’t want to reveal an entire new continent because then they get questions like “how did nobody ever see this continent?” but apparently countless large island chains scattered over the Great Sea aren’t suspect at all.

idk I’m quite happy with the zones and I didn’t expect to be.

I mean Outland and Northrend were huge compared to the expacs we are getting now from the dungeons and the dungeons that were added, plus Legion of course. But they said they were going for smaller expacs and getting them out more quickly.

  • The game is WoW. Nothing has significantly changed about how the game works since Vanilla. Yes there has been updates to UIs, systems for spells, abilities, whatever. But it is still WoW; a hotkey based MMO with strong PvE elements. That part hasn’t changed.
  • These forums blow everything out of proportions every times. So I don’t view complaints on these, or most other social media platforms where the norm is to be overly negative, as reliable. You’ll most likely be there and be excited to play the game just like every other expansion. Whether you stick around or not is up to you though.
  • The map and continent (yes, continent - WoW’s definition of a continent is very strange, and the only real non-continent continent to date has been SL) is perfectly fine. No idea if it is ‘great’ or not as I haven’t been active on the beta, but from everything one has seen it seems to be more than perfectly fine.

Quit conjuring chickens out of imaginary feathers.

I think it looks interesting. Very curious how azj’kahet will be to explore. Sort of looks… annoying. Haha

How Do We Know That Continents Go Missing?

How do geoscientists actually go about confirming the existence of lost continents? It has to do both with the passage of time and the composition of rocks. Generally, all confirmed or theorized lost continents are thought to be immersed portions of older “supercontinents.” These smaller pieces gradually drifted, twisted, and tore from their original landmass.

Researchers go about confirming their theories through the collection and analysis of sand, rocks, and the like. They look for geological evidence that matches the composition of continental crust. They also seek volcanic remnants that far predate a visible landmass’s regular composition.

Off the eastern coast of Madagascar sits Mauritius, a small-island tourist destination famous for being the home of the extinct dodo bird. Scientists now believe that Mauritius is part of a now-microcontinent they’ve dubbed “Mauritia,” which was about one-quarter the size of Madagascar.

Researchers think that Mauritius, a relatively young island, belongs to a drowned and lost microcontinent due to the presence of the volcanic rock zircon in the island’s beach sand and other parts of the island’s solidified geology.

Are There More Lost Continents?

In August 2019, the RV Investigator undertook a 28-day research exploration in part of the Coral Sea off the coast of Australia. Specifically, the researchers went to investigate the composition of the large underwater Louisiade Plateau.

There’s been some question whether the plateau was formed from a massive volcanic eruption or if it's a breakaway part of Australia. Further analysis of the collected rocks is still needed to find conclusive evidence of the plateau’s continental status.

The Search Continues

Only a mere 5% of the ocean has been explored thus far. Who knows how many more continents and microcontinents have been lost to the sea? No one really has an answer yet, but the search continues.

As more and more of the ocean and its depths are plumbed by scientists around the world, we may someday discover another Zealandia. Until then, remember—the Earth has eight continents, not seven.

I Get Amazon Delivered Wherever I Travel. Here's How

Commentary: Amazon ships to six continents. Here's what to keep in mind if you need to purchase something while traveling.

When I left the US eight years ago to live the life of a digital nomad, there were conveniences I thought I'd be giving up as I traveled globally. I've spent most of my adult life ordering and getting items from Amazon, and I assumed the sun had set on the amazingness of getting almost anything I wanted with just a few clicks and two-day shipping.

Medellin, Colombia, was one of the first countries I decided to live in long term. I could move there and live in the country as a foreigner because I applied for a student visa to study Spanish. I signed a lease for a fully furnished apartment in my favorite part of the city (Poblado), got a Colombian national ID, registered for the national health care system and decided to furnish my apartment and give it as much of a homey feel as possible.

What was incredible was finding out Amazon ships to Colombia! Through AmazonGlobal , I can get Amazon orders shipped to me on six continents. Having the comforts of home and specific tech needs available on Amazon gave me a bit more confidence that I could live a digital nomad life.

I've traveled to 88 countries and lived in a dozen. Here's what it's like to receive Amazon deliveries while abroad.

I can get the gadgets I need

I've gotten many great deals and gadgets through Amazon over the years. One of my favorite shopping events is Prime Day , because I can get what I want and need in a budget-friendly way. It was nice to shop on Prime Day and get some items I needed while being in another country.

Through Prime Day, I've been able to buy Anker extension cords , bamboo sheets (that I travel with everywhere now), an iPad Air , a laptop stand, AirPods and a webcam . I had these items shipped to me while I lived in Colombia, Malaysia and Japan. When I needed specific tools like microphones or webcams, I could order on Amazon when they were too expensive or country-specific locally (in either language or configuration).

Amazon makes it easy to get the  gadgets that help me work abroad and stay connected to family, and it does so in an easy way. As usual, I order on the app, and my Amazon items are shipped to me. I get notifications when the package is shipped, when it clears customs in the country I'm in, and when Amazon or its local partner is on the way to where I am with the delivery.

I can still get the comforts of home while working abroad

One thing no one tells you about living a digital nomad lifestyle is that you'll experience loneliness and miss the comforts of home. You come to miss your favorite restaurants, getting coffee at your local coffee shop, and the little items that make your living space feel cozy. When I discovered that Amazon shipped internationally, I ordered items that made me feel more at home.

While in Japan, I ordered the bamboo sheets I always had in the States. In Malaysia, I got an iPad so I could watch TV in bed (using a VPN ) and FaceTime more comfortably with family. In Colombia, I ordered Christmas knickknacks to decorate my apartment for the holidays and relive a ritual I'd enjoyed for years.

Home can mean different things to different people. For me, home is wherever I'm traveling and living as long as I can make it my own. Local finds are great and make each place special, but I like that I can also lean on Amazon when needed for some everyday items.

Saving money on Amazon means I have more room in my budget

Amazon has great prices, especially during its Prime Day sales. I've been able to save money shopping on Amazon and use the savings for activities in the country I'm visiting. Living a digital nomad lifestyle has meant learning to manage my expenses well, especially with the costs of travel. I've kept expenses low, getting items on Amazon whenever possible.

If you want to be a digital nomad, already live that lifestyle, or just want what you need while traveling, consider using those AmazonGlobal perks. You can get almost everything you need at a good price, shipped to you in countries all over the world.
