Amit Karlekar 16 months ago I visited for the first time on 7th April to Kesari Baner office for taking a package to Kashmir But when we heard the budget we asked for Singapore and the budget was almost around the same amount so without thinking it being Kesari we paid 15k. Within 24 hrs we decided to cancel psot thinking as any of the package was going way beyond our budget. When I asked for refund that person informed 1k will be service charge and 14k will be returned or a credit note will be given.. i memtioned to him he can return 14k and keep 1 k as service charge as i dony want to plan anything this year. today is 16 april i.e. 9 days and now that person is not bothered to reply also what he is doing with my money. Such a disgusting and unethical response from a reputed firm is unacceptable. Just for mere 15k Kesari is creating a nuisance.

Priyabrata Giri 74 months ago All inclusive & one of the best travel company in India. It has got valet parking also inside the building premises.

Riddhi Mahidhar 50 months ago Great arrangements and great stay and good choice of food by them. All you need is just to be there. I have never seen people so passionate to make others' vacation so eventful and memorable. If you feel sick during the tour, no worries, if u are vegetarians, no worries, if you have a fast...no worries at all! They have it all covered. Plus it's a bonus for senior citizens. They get even better level of service.

A two day kolkata tour guide.

Start in North Kolkata: Visit or pass by Marble Palace, a Neo-classical structure with a traditional Bengali courtyard, and Jorashanko Thakur Bari, the 18th-century birthplace of Rabindranath Tagore.

Pass by College Street, home to Asia’s largest book market and the second-largest second-hand book market in the world.

Head up to the Coffee House, once frequented by cultural icons like Satyajit Ray and Amartya Sen, which was part of Kolkata’s cultural hub.

Move on to Central Kolkata, exploring Bow Barracks, the Zoroastrian Fire Temple, Old Chinatown, the old Jewish neighborhood, the Portuguese Church, Armenian Church, and Nakhoda Mosque—an ancient melting pot of cultures.

Drive west towards Dalhousie Square/BBD Bagh, a hub of over 50 heritage buildings, once the seat of the former capital of India. Nearby, you’ll find the GPO, India’s first post office.

Do a loop around Eden Gardens, India’s oldest cricket stadium.

Continue a mile south, passing the Royal Calcutta Turf Club, India’s largest horse racing venue. Then, visit your choice of historical churches: St. Paul’s Cathedral, St John’s Church, Church of Christ the King, St Thomas Church, Auxilium Parish, or Lord Jesus Church.

If interested, drop by the Academy of Fine Arts, one of India’s oldest fine arts societies, and take a short stroll in Nandan, the venue for the Kolkata International Film Festival.

Visit the Victoria Memorial, the world’s largest monument to a monarch, featuring a blend of Mughal, British, Italian, Egyptian, and Deccan architectural influences. It’s now an art gallery, museum, and library. In the background, you’ll see a 60-65 story building, once India’s tallest residential structure.

Head to neighboring Park Street and start at the Indian Museum, one of the world’s oldest museums, founded by the Danish. Travel through Park Street, once India’s nightlife hub. Also of note are the North and South Park Street Cemeteries, former French and Italian burial grounds.

As you head south, pass by Netaji Bhavan, a heritage building and memorial to Subhash Chandra Bose, and the Indian Government Mint. You’ll also see the National Library of India, the largest library in the country, Alipore Museum, and the Port of Kolkata, India’s only major riverine port.

Drive through Rabindra Sarobar, past the Calcutta Rowing Club, one of the world’s oldest rowing clubs, and the Royal Calcutta Golf Club, the oldest outside the UK.

In Gariahat, stop by Tram World if you have time, showcasing Kolkata’s 150+ years of tram heritage, the oldest tram lines in Asia.

Travel east along the Ma Flyover, India’s fourth-longest flyover, with views of Science City, the largest science center in India. Move towards Salt Lake Stadium, once the world’s largest football stadium with a capacity of 120,000, and then explore New Town, the hub for GCC, GBS, IT, BT, Fintech, and Data Centers (though development was hindered by the lack of a nearby undersea cable).

Visit Eco Park, a 500-acre space with a 100-acre water body and island, Mother’s Wax Museum, and Misti Hub, where you can find all varieties of Kolkata sweets.

Three rides you should take

A boat ride from Princep Ghat by the side of Fort William, a 17th-century military installation. You’ll see both the old Howrah Bridge, the world’s busiest cantilever bridge with no nuts and bolts, and the newer Hooghly Bridge, India’s first and longest cable-stayed bridge at the time of its construction.

A ferry ride from Fairlie Place to Belur Math, founded by Swami Vivekananda, which combines Hindu, Islamic, Buddhist, and Christian architectural styles. If time allows, continue on to Dakshineswar Temple, built in the nine-spires style of Bengal architecture, and return.

A tram ride from the Maidan, India’s largest park, to the Racecourse Ground.

If you’re feeling adventurous, take a metro ride from Esplanade to Howrah Station, traveling under the Ganges River for part of the journey.

Two rides I suggest avoiding are train rides from Howrah Station, India’s oldest, largest, and busiest station, or Sealdah Station, the second largest. Both stations, along with other railway stations and the city’s circular railway, tend to be crowded.

For food, try Kolkata’s street food, especially my favorites: the Egg Chicken Roll and Phuchka. Or try Kolkata Biryani, served with a potato, at a restaurant. Don’t miss a Bengali buffet, either at a five-star hotel or in someone’s home.

If you visit during Durga Puja, the celebration of female power, drop all other plans and immerse yourself in the world’s largest public carnival. The city will be filled with billions of dollars worth of artistic installations, lights, and temporary structures representing real-life landmarks from around the globe.

A few things to be aware of: While traffic is well-managed compared to most Indian cities, Kolkata is known as the honking capital of the world. Be prepared for the noise, and avoid walking long distances, as sidewalks are often crowded or blocked. The city center isn’t formally ring-fenced, and overhead cables may obscure some views of the buildings.

One who wants to witness the artistic grandeur, dazzling culture, and literary legacy of Kolkata must book a Kolkata trip package online that covers all the major sightseeing places of the city.

Here are some of the best places to visit in Kolkata which form an essential part any Kolkata tour:

• Dakshineswar Temple

This temple is one of the most famous and greatest religious sites in Kolkata. Devotees from various parts of the country book an online Kolkata package to visit this holy place. This temple is a beautiful spiritual retreat, which is dedicated to Goddess Kali. Rani Rasmani, the queen of Janbazar, founded this temple the construction of which started in the year 1847. The temple is spread over an area of 25 acres and is located adjacent to the banks of river Hooghly. Goddess Kali is worshipped in this temple and the statue of the Goddess is composed of black stone which is embellished with gold jewellery. During the month of Bhadra, Paush, and Chaitra, thousands of devotees visit this place. Thus, it is one of the most visited Kolkata city tour places.

• Shantiniketan - the hometown of Shri Rabindranath Tagore

This is a small town near Bolpur in the Birbhum district of West Bengal and forms an integral part of every Kolkata tour. It is about 212 km north of Kolkata, which was formed by famous Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore. Earlier, Shantiniketan was known as Bhubandanga which was owned by the Tagore family. Rabindranath Tagore in 1901 started a school at Shantiniketan and named it Brahmacharya Ashram. This school was modeled as per the ancient gurukul system. Later, this school was expanded into a university and was renamed Bishwa-Bharati. The campus of Shantiniketan is adorned with splendid sculptures, frescoes, murals, and paintings of Ramkinkar, Rabindranath, Binodbehari Mukhopadhyay, Nandalal Bose and others. Moreover, this place is also popular for celebration of festivals like Poush Mela (December), Joydev Mela (January), Basanta Utsav (Holi) and other fairs. In addition to this, the famous mystic Baul Singers also attract visitors from various parts of the country to travel to Kolkata during vacations.

• Sunderbans

The unique and amazing Sundarbans National Park is the largest mangrove forest in the world. This national park is known for the majestic Royal Bengal Tiger. This world heritage site is a delight for every photographer and nature lover, and is among the top visited Kolkata city tour places. Most of the travel companies include this place in their Kolkata tour and travel packages to attract more clients. Moreover, this park is also home of a large array of wild species of flora and fauna.

• Belur Math

If you are planning a Kolkata trip this vacation with your parents or grandparents, then you must visit this place. This is one of the most important pilgrimage places in India. It was established in 1938 by Swami Vivekananda, the disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa. He established this math as a gesture of paying homage to his guru. This temple spreads over a large area of land which encompasses a big prayer hall with a statue of Ramakrishna. This temple is a beautiful monastery which also has several other temples dedicated to Sri Ramakrishna, Swami Vivekananda, Swami Brahmananda, and Sri Sarada Devi. Located near the Hooghly River, this is the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Math. The temples here highlight a great fusion of Hindu, Islamic, Buddhist, and Christian styles of architecture. The math stands proud as a symbol of secularism and the principle of universal faith. By visiting this place, one’s soul fills with contentment and peace. Thousands of tourists from various parts of the world look for Kolkata packages at reasonable costs to spend their vacations in this city. It is open for visitors from 6 am to 12 noon and then again from 4 pm to 9 pm.

Best Time to Visit Kolkata

The best time to take a Kolkata trip is in autumn and winter, that is, in the months between October and February. During this period, the weather is perfect and various festivals are celebrated here. For this reason, Kolkata witnesses the peak arrival of travellers from various parts of the country in this season, especially during Durga Puja. During this time, most of the travel companies offer Kolkata tour package with additional discounts and coupons to attract more people. Because of the eastern tropical climate, Kolkata has light winters and hot and humid summers. Travellers should try to avoid a Kolkata day tour in summers. They can choose monsoons, although that will not exactly be the best season to pay a visit. However, during the off-season, Kolkata tour packages are available at the cheapest rates.
