Jane’s Addiction Announce First Classic Lineup Tour Since 2010

By Matthew Strauss

Janes Addiction band

Jane’s Addiction have announced a North American tour. The shows, featuring support from the English rock band Love and Rockets, take place in August and September. See Jane’s Addictions tour dates below.

The North American shows will mark the first time since 2010 that the classic Jane’s Addiction lineup—vocalist Perry Farrell , guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery—will play an extended run of shows together. Avery left the band in 2010, and, while he rejoined in 2022, Navarro had to miss a tour that year as he dealt with long COVID-19 .

Jane’s Addiction released their latest album, The Great Escape Artist , in 2011, but the classic lineup has not recorded together since 1990’s Ritual de lo Habitual . Last week, the group played a new song called “ Imminent Redemption ” at a London show.

Perry Farrell has been busy this year. His other band, Porno for Pyros , has released new music and played its final concerts .

Jane's Addiction 2024 tour brings classic lineup to Phoenix. How to get tickets

jane's addiction tour guitarist

After reuniting for the first time in 14 years to perform an intimate show in London, the original members of Jane’s Addiction have announced a co-headlining tour with fellow alt-rock legends Love and Rockets, with a Phoenix concert at Arizona Financial Theatre on Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024.

Bassist Eric Avery, who quit Jane’s Addiction in 2010, rejoined the fold in 2022, but guitarist Dave Navarro had to miss the tour they did that year with Smashing Pumpkins due to long COVID-19.

That makes this the first time all four members of the classic Jane's Addiction lineup — Perry Farrell, Avery, Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins — have toured together since Avery’s departure.

The first time Jane’s Addiction members went their separate ways, in 1991, their farewell tour became the first Lollapalooza festival.

Lead singer Perry Farrell is also credited with having coined the catchphrase Alternative Nation.

Jane's Addiction's second album, “Ritual de lo Habitual,” sent two singles — “Stop!” and “Been Caught Stealing” — to the top of Billboard’s modern-rock charts on its way to going triple-platinum. “The Great Escape Artist,” their 2011 reunion effort, spawned another Top 10 modern-rock hit, “Irresistible Force.”

Jane's Addiction 2024 tour will launch in Las Vegas

Produced by Live Nation, the 23-city tour kicks off on Aug. 9 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, with concerts in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and more before wrapping in St. Louis at Evolution Festival on Sept. 29.

When Jane's Addiction's classic lineup reunited last week for the first time since 2010, it was the start of more good news for fans of the Los Angeles band.

Thanks to the return of guitarist Dave Navarro (who had been battling Long Covid), alongside singer Perry Farrell, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery, Jane's was set to reveal even better news: they will go on tour alongside Love and Rockets, a group they opened up for in the 1980s.

This summer the bands will co-headline a two-month tour, beginning in Las Vegas and winding up in the midwest.

Long time fans might remember that Avery left the band in 2010 and has since toured with Garbage while recording with others.

In 2022, Avery came back into the loving arms of Jane's but Navarro was sidelined with the plague, until just recently.

On Thursday, May 23, at the tiny Bush Hall in London, the perfect pieces of Jane's Addiction, were finally back together. Expected to be the Led Zeppelin of the pre-grunge college alternative era, they instead showed how a band could turn two perfect albums into a career.

At Bush Hall, 66.6% of the setlist was comprised of songs that could be found on Nothing’s Shocking and Ritual de lo habitual and it could have been more. There was no "Idiots Rule," no "Up the Beach," and no "Summertime Rolls," for example.

They were making room for two new songs, one that got it's live debut on that minuscule stage.

"Imminent Redemption," which couldn't be anyone else's baby other than Jane's Addiction, sounds straight out of 1989 and Navarro's guitar reminds you of hearing a long lost friend's voice on a telephone being held to your ear in the dark.

Another new was "True Love," a gentle tune Robert Smith might feel comfortable covering one day in a wind storm.

Both songs are short, sweet, and not trying too hard. Squeezing new music out of Jane's Addiction is not an easy task so if they give you a two-and-a-half minute rocker, you say thank you an stop being so greedy.

Not only should we be grateful Jane's is back, as a whole, like in olden times - but look and hear how healthy they sound. For all they've gone through they still look like the weirdly stylish and handsome rock stars that once used to roam the earth.

It's worth coming down the mountain to witness.

Navarro does not seem to have lost any muscle mass, his biceps are still pronounced, he still looks nimble, he's clearly put the 'vid behind him. Blessed, we all are. We live in a time with fewer and fewer guitar heroes and his sound remains so identifiable and clear especially on the solos we all now know by heart.

This will be a reunion of sorts for Love and Rockets with Jane's Addiction. In 1988 Jane's opened for Daniel Ash's and David J's Bauhaus + Tones on Tail spinoff.

Now that Tones on Tail had a successful reunion of their own earlier this month in Pasadena , it looks like it's time for Love and Rockets to spread the joy around a bit more like it did last summer for 18 dates .

A few days ago Jane's and Love And Rockets announced they would co-headline a 23-city tour that kicks off on August 9 at Las Vegas' newest luxury hotel on the Strip, The Fontainebleau.

The co-headlining fun will begin once Jane's has been on the road for a couple of months. Tickets available on their website .

Jane’s Addiction Announce Classic-Lineup Tour With Love & Rockets

jane's addiction tour guitarist

OG alt-rockers Jane’s Addiction are finally back at full strength, and now they’re ready to hit the road. Last year, Jane’s Addiction headed out on a co-headlining tour with the Smashing Pumpkins, and original bassist rejoined the band for the first time in 12 years. But Jane’s Addiction guitar hero Dave Navarro, suffering from the effects of long COVID, didn’t take part. (Josh Klinghoffer filled in .) Last week, however, the band played a small show at London’s Bush Hall, and all four of them were back together for the first time in 14 years.

It appears that Jane’s Addiction have plans for the future. At the London show, they debuted the new song “Imminent Redemption.” Now, they’ve announced a summer tour of North America, and they’re bringing some of their contemporaries with them. If you’re not familiar with Love And Rockets, that’s the group that the non-Peter Murphy members of Bauhaus started after that group broke up. Like Jane’s Addiction , Love And Rockets recently appeared in our Alternative Number Ones column. Love And Rockets will join Jane’s Addiction on tour this summer, and it won’t be the first time that the two bands toured together.

Janes Addiction previously opened for Love And Rockets on tour in the late ’80s, before they blew up. Fun fact: Perry Farrell included a heart and a rocket in his cover art for Jane’s Addiction’s classic 1990 album Ritual De Lo Habitual ; it was his tribute to Love And Rockets. This summer, the two bands’ roles will reverse, as Love And Rockets will open the shows. Check out the dates below.

ABOUT JANE’S ADDICTION Great bands break rules, but legends write their own. Jane’s Addiction formed in 1985 and has written the rule book for alternative music and culture through a combination of genre-defying classic songs and a cinematic live experience. The band consists of vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery.

Undoubtedly regarded as one of rock’s most influential acts, Jane’s Addiction’s first release was the stunning, self-titled live album Jane’s Addiction (1987), which led to two studio albums, Nothing Shocking (1988) and Ritual De Lo Habitual (1990). The band’s initial farewell tour in 1991 launched the first Lollapalooza which has since become THE perennial alternative rock festival.

Smashing Pumpkins, which currently features three of the band’s four original members – Corgan, guitarist James Iha and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin – have marked the “Spirits on “Fire tour with the announcement of a new record, “ATUM,” a 33-track “rock opera in three acts” intended to hearken back to grandiloquent efforts like 1995’s sprawling “Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.”

For Jane’s Addiction, these shows arrive as the band faces a personal inflection point: a re-embrace of what had seemed to be an out-of-reach past, and a tentative first step toward an unknown future.

The “past” piece is represented by the return of original bassist Eric Avery. A key component of the Jane’s Addiction sound, Avery was the first member to play in the band alongside Farrell in 1985, and it is his insistent, hypnotic bass lines that provide much of the power and thrust to classic tracks like “Mountain Song” and “Whores.” Avery’s history with Jane’s Addiction, and with Farrell in particular, has been marked by tension; he last played with the band for a short stint earlier in the 2000s before departing again in 2010. Over the years, his spot has been filled by everyone from Guns N’ Roses’ Duff McKagan and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea to, in most cases, prolific studio and stage bassist Chris Chaney.

Avery’s path back to Jane’s Addiction began a few years ago, when he and Farrell reconnected on a phone call that, according to the bassist, was brokered by a mutual friend, late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. When Farrell reached out again more recently, he says, “I thought maybe it had something to do with [Hawkins’] death, because we both loved him a lot. I thought maybe he wanted to do a song or something like that for Taylor.”

Instead, the conversation was focused on the future of Jane’s Addiction, and Avery’s place in it. “We had what I considered to be the most meaningful and honest and respectful talk that we’ve had since the Jane’s 1.0 days,” Avery says. “I don’t mean to sound so ‘new age-y’ about it, but it was sort of a healing of a rift.”

That healing, Farrell says, was long overdue. “It’s time. We’re not getting any younger, and I wanted to start working with Eric again before it’s all too late.”

Says Farrell, “Dave told us he’s hoping to be back at a certain date [on the tour], but… look, this is very important. Today, you’ve gotta look out for your friends and your family. It’s a tough time to be alive. You have to be thinking smart. When a person doesn’t feel well, you have to be okay with them slowing down for a minute. There’s nothing else you can do.”

“My heart is broken to not have Dave here with us,” Perkins adds. “But I just want my friend to be healthy. And the best thing we can do for him right now is to not interrupt the healing process.”

In the meantime, the show must go on. And for that to happen, Jane’s Addiction, for the first time in their history, had to find a guitar player to step into Navarro’s shoes. For the tour, at least, that guitar player will be Troy Van Leeuwen, a record producer and multi-instrumentalist who has played with the likes of A Perfect Circle, Iggy Pop and, most notably, Queens of the Stone Age. Additionally, Farrell reports that several shows will feature guest guitarists joining the band onstage. These names, however, are still top secret. “I wish I could tell you, but I can’t,” he says. “But they’re guitar peers, shall we say, of Jane’s. Friends first and foremost, but musical allies for sure.”

Regarding Van Leeuwen, he continues, “I would’ve never wanted to go out without Dave. But these days are a time for collaboration. So with Troy, we sat down and talked about stage style and, most importantly, musical style. And we found a common ground.”

“I came at it from the angle of respecting the material and respecting the history, because Dave is such a big presence in the band,” Van Leeuwen says. “Then as we started playing more and more, they all said, ‘Well, do your own thing, too.’ So I have some space to add my flair here and there.”

“We really approached it as, this is an opportunity for Jane’s to have a little bit of a different sound,” Avery says. “A little bit of a different experience.”

Going forward, the Jane’s Addiction experience, in another break from recent operating procedure, will not be confined solely to the stage. The band’s most recent studio album, “The Great Escape Artist,” was released in 2011. But this past August, they reconvened to work on new material, which will also constitute their first recordings with Avery since 1990’s landmark “Ritual de lo Habitual.” The sessions, Farrell says, “actually exceeded expectations. We wrote three songs – one is very, very raw, but there’s two in particular that I love. One’s called ‘True Love,’ and the other one’s called ‘The Imminent Redemption.’ ”

“I started playing it with Stephen, and Perry started singing, and I felt a feeling that I hadn’t felt in many years,” Avery says. “It reminded me of surfing. When you’re paddling for a wave, there’s an inflection point where the wave has you, and you’ve put the effort in and can stop paddling. You just stand up and begin to ride. I thought, wow, we can still plug into this…”

“When you hear what we came up with, it just instantly has that vibe that you hear in things like ‘Mountain Song’ or ‘Whores,’ ” Perkins adds. “It’s dark. It’s cinematic. It’s voodoo. It sounds like us.”

Even so, Farrell stresses there’s still work to be done, as Navarro has yet to add his guitar to the new material. “These songs are hanging,” he says. “Dave hasn’t recorded on them yet, and they’re not going to be completed until he does.”

As for whether there’s a full album in Jane’s Addiction’s future, Perkins, for one, hopes so. “Fuck yeah, that’s all I want,” he says. “Get in a room together, just do it. The last three years been a nightmare for everybody – let’s energize that pain, that fear, that uncertainty, all that shit we went through together. Let’s funnel that into a Jane’s record. That’s my dream.”

At the very least, the music will continue in one form or another. “We’re all on the universal clock, so I’m gonna ride it as long as I live,” Farrell says. “I don’t know what the music’s going to sound like when I’m in my seventies, but I want to give it a go, and I will.”

Calling it quits, he continues, is out of the question. “I don’t ever have to retire,” Farrell says. “I could ask anybody – I could ask Tom Brady, and he would tell you he’s envious of me . Because I can go until I can’t breathe anymore. That’s what’s beautiful about being a musician. You keep moving, and along the way you gain music knowledge, you gain poetic knowledge. You gain political knowledge and spiritual knowledge and universal knowledge. And then you put all of that into your art.”

Jane’s Addiction Announce 2024 North American Tour with Love & Rockets

The band recently reunited with guitarist Dave Navarro in London

Jane's Addition

After reuniting for the first time in 14 years to perform an intimate show in London, Jane’s Addiction, with their original band members, and Love And Rockets, announced they will hit the road for their 2024 co-headline tour. Produced by Live Nation, the 23-city tour kicks off on August 9 at Fontainebleau Las Vegas, making stops across North America in Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and more before wrapping up in St. Louis at Evolution Festival on September 29.

Tickets will be available starting with artist pre-sales beginning Tuesday, May 28. Additional pre-sales will run throughout the week. General tickets go on sale beginning Friday, May 31 at 10am local time.

The tour will also offer a variety of different VIP packages and experiences for Jane’s Addiction’s fans to take their concert experience to the next level. Packages vary but include premium tickets, exclusive autographed tour poster by Jane’s Addiction, specially designed VIP gift item, and more.

On May 23 in London, Jane’s Addiction reunited for their first show with their classic lineup in 14 years. The band – featuring frontman Perry Ferrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins – hit the stage at Bush Hall for a “secret show” that mark the start of their UK tour. While Avery had rejoined the band back in 2022, the group performed without Navarro who had been battling long COVID-19. While Navarro was recovering, the band played select shows with the likes of Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age) and Josh Klinghoffer (ex-Red Hot Chili Peppers) filling in on guitar.

Not only is the original Jane’s Addiction back together, they also premiered a brand new song live on stage. The all-new “Imminent Redemption” marks the original lineup’s first tune in 34 years. Eric Avery’s last time in the studio with the band was for their 1990 watershed album,  Ritual de lo Habitual . Watch fan-filmed footage of the performance HERE .

Great bands break rules, but legends write their own.

Named after the underground comic by the Hernandez brothers, Love And Rockets made seven records over the course of thirteen years. They announced themselves to the world with their radically unique take on the classic Temptations song “Ball Of Confusion.” This debut proved that they were going to be a force to contend with. It became a huge seller and a popular club hit in the US and Canada, where it also went gold. It marked the beginning of a career that would span an impressive 14 years and seven albums.

The legacy of the band has only grown with more people realizing the extent of their influence and generations of new fans discovering them. The list of artists who cite their influence is impressive: The Flaming Lips, The Dandy Warhols, A Place To Bury Strangers, Jane’s Addiction, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Beck, Maynard Keenan, Dubfire and the Pixies. Dec. 2023 saw the reissue of their Beggars Banquet catalog with a vinyl box set that sold out almost immediately and each of the label’s releases released individually the following year, along with a previously unreleased compilation/companion CD to 1996’s Sweet F.A. titled My Dark Twin. In celebration, Love And Rockets played a critically-hailed and largely sold out tour.

Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction Tour Dates Announced

jane's addiction tour guitarist

Nine Inch Nails and the original Jane's Addiction lineup will embark on a May/June co-headlining tour that will see these seminal artists sharing a stage for the first time since the historic debut of the Lollapalooza festival in 1991. The genesis of the upcoming tour came about in late 2008 after NIN's Trent Reznor was tapped to produce Jane's first recordings since reforming.

The NIN/JA tour will feature a streamlined NIN with Reznor on vocals, guitars, keys, Robin Finck on guitars and keys, Justin Meldal-Johnsen on bass and keys, and newest NIN member IIan Rubin on drums and keys. NIN's stripped down configuration for the upcoming dates was inspired by a pair of club shows toward the end of last year's wildly ambitious Lights in the Sky tour. Leaving the massive production in the trucks for those two nights freed up the band for spontaneous performances including several seldom-aired NIN classics and inspired NIN to take a similarly unencumbered and unpredictable approach to the May/June dates, which include previously announced NIN appearances at the Sasquatch and Bonnaroo festivals.

For the first time in 17 years, the original lineup of Jane’s Addiction will tour - vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery and drummer Stephen Perkins. The possibility of reforming first took shape in April 2008 when the musicians performed and accepted the Godlike Genius Award bestowed on them by N.M.E. Magazine at their US Awards ceremony. The band then tested the waters with small, secret shows around the Los Angeles area and the tremendous excitement from the shows lead to their decision to tour again.

The “full circle” nature of the co-headlining tour has not been lost on the artists, with Reznor recently blogging…

“Towards the beginning of my career in Nine Inch Nails, our biggest break came in the form of an invitation to perform a series of shows with Jane’s Addiction. These performances essentially created and defined the term “alternative” rock in the US, created an ongoing festival franchise that is still thriving (Lollapalooza), set the stage for Nirvana to shift popular taste a few months later, and were really fucking FUN to play and attend - truly the best times I’ve had. The shows were epic. So epic, they propelled NIN to the “next level” (whatever that means), but caused Jane’s to implode. The band broke up at the end of that tour.”

Jane’s guitarist Dave Navarro responded in kind, paying homage to the recent collaboration with the Nine Inch Nails frontman and revealing enthusiasm for the upcoming shows.

“Since our reformation, we have been spending a lot of time with Trent in the rehearsal studio and in the recording studio, working on new stuff, addressing some old stuff and more importantly, creating a friendship and working relationship,” Navarro explains. “It's rare that touring partners have an opportunity to spend so much time together creatively before a tour. Regardless of the collaborative outcome, our time with Trent has brought forth a new focus and sense of purpose that we plan to share with you on a nightly basis.”

The ensemble of  Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery will tour together for the first time in 14 years.

Seminal alternative rock outfit Jane's Addiction have announced a major milestone tour that brings together the classic line-up of  Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Eric Avery for the first time in 14 years.

The roster that last recorded 1990's Ritual de lo Habitual together will embark on an extended stretch of tour dates - one that finds guitarist Dave Navarro officially back into the mix following a lengthy battle with Covid.

The configuration suggests the stars are aligning for Jane's Addiction. Though Avery rejoined the band in 2022, having not played with Jane's Addiction since 2010, the tandem of Avery and Navarro are now paired once again. Additionally, frontman Perry Farrell recently completed his run of final show with Porno for Pyros, freeing his schedule to get back to the business of Jane's Addiction.

The stretch of headlining dates is set to begin August 9th at the brand new Fontainebleau of Las Vegas. The tour will conclude with a pair of festival dates including the South Star Music Festival in Huntsville, AL and Evolution Festival in St. Louis, MO on September 29th.

Set to join the historic run of live dates, Jane's Addiction has tapped Love and Rockets to serve as support for the duration of the tour. Tickets will be available starting with artist presales beginning May 28th. General on-sale begins May 31st at 10:00am local time. See the complete list of dates below.

Jane’s Addiction Announce 2023 US Tour Dates

The legendary alt-rock band will embark on a brief west coast tour in March

Jane’s Addiction Announce 2023 US Tour Dates

Jane’s Addiction have mapped out a brief west coast tour for March, in advance of their performances at three Lollapalooza festivals in South America.

The alt-rock legends will hit the road beginning March 4th in Bakersfield, California, and wrap up the five-show stint with a March 12th gig in Reno, Nevada. Afterward, they’ll play Lollapalooza Argentina (March 18th), Lollapalooza Chile (March 19th), and Lollapalooza Brazil (March 25th).

Tickets for the US shows go on sale to the general public beginning Friday (January 20th) via Ticketmaster, with a presale beginning Thursday (January 19th) at 10 a.m. local time using the code SOUND . Fans can also pick up tickets via StubHub .

Last year, Jane’s Addiction welcomed back original bassist Eric Avery for their tour with the Smashing Pumpkins. However, guitarist Dave Navarro’s ongoing battle with long COVID kept him off the road, thus preventing a reunion of the band’s classic lineup. Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen filled in on guitar for that tour, and as of now, it is unclear whether Navarro will be back for the March shows.

Dave Navarro’s Iconic Guitar Moments Outside of Jane’s Addiction

by Thom Donovan June 13, 2024, 12:30 pm

Jane’s Addiction’s classic lineup—Perry Farrell, Dave Navarro, Stephen Perkins, and Eric Avery—have reunited for their first show since 2010.

Videos by American Songwriter

The band performed in front of an intimate crowd May 23 at London’s Bush Hall. Navarro had returned after a battle with long COVID-19 forced him off the road. Meanwhile, guitarists Josh Klinghoffer (Pearl Jam, Red Hot Chili Peppers) and Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age) had been filling in for him.

Though Jane’s Addiction made Navarro famous, he’s also spent time in the Red Hot Chili Peppers, played on one of the ’90s biggest alt-pop songs, and moonlighted across various projects—with artists ranging from Guns N’ Roses to Christina Aguilera.

But Navarro is back, and to celebrate his return, here’s a look at some of his iconic guitar moments outside of Jane’s Addiction.

“Piggy (Nothing Can Stop Me Now)” by Nine Inch Nails

In 1995, Nine Inch Nails released a remixed version of their nihilist, turbulent, and brilliant masterpiece The Downward Spiral . Called Further Down the Spiral , it features a Rick Rubin remix of the plodding “Piggy.” The Rubin remix happened while Navarro joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers on their post-John Frusciante album One Hot Minute . Trent Reznor whispers over a frantic post-industrial rework featuring Navarro’s goth-star guitar playing.

Hey pig, piggy, pig, pig, pig All of my fears came true Black and blue and broken bones, you left me here; I’m all alone My little piggy needed something new

“You Oughta Know” by Alanis Morissette

Canadian singer Alanis Morissette transitioned from dance pop to post-grunge angst on her third album Jagged Little Pill . “You Oughta Know” was one of the decade’s biggest songs and featured Navarro on lead guitar and then-bandmate Flea on bass. Said Flea, “I showed up, rocked out, and split. When I first heard the track, it had a different bassist and guitarist on it; I listened to the bass line and thought, ‘That’s some weak s–t.’ It was no flash and no smash! But the vocal was strong, so I just tried to play something good.” Both he and Navarro, indeed, played something good.

’Cause the love that you gave that we made Wasn’t able to make it enough for you to be open wide No, and every time you speak her name Does she know how you told Me, you’d hold me until you died? Till you died, but you’re still alive

“Aeroplane” by Red Hot Chili Peppers

The Red Hot Chili Peppers One Hot Minute is a divisive record among fans. While some John Frusciante die-hards lament Navarro’s hard rock intrusion on the funky monks, others enjoyed the colliding worlds of two giants from L.A.’s underground scene: the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane’s Addiction. “Aeroplane” is the album’s funkiest track and features one of Flea’s finest moments. It’s probably the album’s perfect distillation of Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Ritual de lo Habitual . Navarro’s brand of funk is more angular and rigid than Frusciante’s, and his desert-tripping chords sound as Crayola-vivid as Flea’s daughter Clara and the kids’ choir singing during the outro.

I like pleasure spiked with pain And music is my aeroplane It’s my aeroplane Songbird sweet and sour Jane And music is my aeroplane It’s my aeroplane

“My Friends” by Red Hot Chili Peppers

Regardless of how you feel about the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Dave Navarro experimentations, “My Friends” is one of the band’s best songs. One Hot Minute , fairly or not, was judged against what came before it. On its own, it’s a good album. However, it doesn’t exist in a vacuum, and John Frusciante’s shadow on either side of this release looms large. But “My Friends” is the kind of dark, under-the-bridge street beauty that’s come to define the Chili Peppers as much as their Hendrix-meets-P-Funk jams.

My friends are so depressed I fear the question of your loneliness Confide, ’cause I’ll be on your side You know I will You know I will

Jane’s Addiction New Album Release Leaks To Fans

jane's addiction tour guitarist

The Jane’s Addiction new album is coming! JimmytheGent on Ain’t No Right forum recently shared a post taken from Steve Hoffman forum. The user said he attended Jane’s Addiction show in Hamburg and revealed some interesting information about the band’s new album, rumored to be called Imminent Redemption .

Jane’s Addiction new album

The fan noted that the Hamburg show went well. “Ted, Just Admit It..” was the opener of the concert and later at point they played ‘Kettle Whistle’ and ‘Up The Beach’. They closed the show with Chip Away. Band guitarist Dave Navarro, who recently paid tribute to Taylor Hawkins , was seemingly happy and healthy too following his return. What has come forward from the show is some intriguing information about the band’s upcoming album.

It has come to light that a new album is in the works. This will mark their first album of the classic lineup since 1990, and it’s also the band’s first album since 2011. It is speculated that possibly eight new songs are already in line for release in 2025. It is also noted that “Imminent Redemption” might be released as a single on July 12th. Meanwhile, the user has reported that the band has been working on a new longer (approximately 10 minutes) version of “Kettle Whistle.”

Speaking about the musical aspect, it is noted that Jane’s Addiction are building everything from scratch. It is also noted that Porno For Pyros is done. However, they will be releasing the EP during the summer.

Regarding Jane’s Addiction’s tour, the band is likely to be on the road and tour heavily this year as well as the next year. They are unlikely to return back to Europe until 2026.

Jane’s Addiction band members recently surprised their fans with the announcement of a classic lineup tour. What makes the announcement more special is the fact that they are doing this for the first time in 14 years. All the band members had played on stage for the last time in 2010.

Jane’s Addiction are currently touring with their classic lineup for the first time since 2010. The extended version of the shows would be played by band members vocalist Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery. This is the first time all the members are performing live since Avery’s exit in 2010. The bassist left the band in 2010 only to rejoin in 2022. The fans never got to see all the band members in action due to that right after Eric made his return, Dave Navarro had to miss out on the 2022 tour because of his fight with the virus owing to the global pandemic.

Dogstar is getting ready to hit the road.

The rock band, which features bassist Keanu Reeves , guitarist/vocalist Bret Domrose and drummer Rob Mailhouse, announced dates for their upcoming Summer Vacation Tour 2024 on June 5.

"We are stoked to announce a new North American headline tour this August & September," read a post on the trio's social media page.

Kicking off Aug. 8 at the Indiana State Fair in Indianapolis, the tour will make stops throughout the United States and Canada before wrapping Sept. 21 at Harrah’s Ak-Chin Hotel & Casino in Maricopa, Arizona.

"We are having the best time out here on the road interacting with fans at these shows, we wanted to keep it going," said the band in a statement about the tour. "For this next U.S. run starting in August, we will be planning to try out some new songs as well — hope to see you out there!”

Tickets first become available through a presale on June 5 at noon local time, before the general onsale begins June 7 at 10 a.m. local time.

Following a 20-year hiatus, Dogstar returned to the stage for the first time last May at BottleRock Festival in Napa Valley, California. The band's new album, Somewhere Between the Power Lines and Palm Trees , is out now.

"When we reunited to try to write some songs, we never knew what an amazing journey we were beginning," said the band in a statement.

"The way this record came together was nothing short of magical for us," continued the trio. "The fun, the passion and the friendship shines through on these recordings and hopefully the variety of emotions will connect and resonate with everyone the way they do for us."

Dogstar was formed in the mid-'90s. The band's first EP  Quattro Formaggi  was released in 1996 and followed by two albums, 1996's  Our Little Visionary  and 2000's  Happy Ending , as well as a one-off cover of Mr. Big's "Shine" in 2004.

During Dogstar's initial run, the band appeared in films including 1999's  Me and Will  and 2005's  Ellie Parker . They also opened for David Bowie and Bon Jovi on tour and performed headlining shows with then-upcoming opening acts Rancid and Weezer.

See Front-Row Video Of AC/DC's Second Munich Concert During Spring/Summer 2024 'Power Up' European Tour

The setlist for the show was as follows, according to Setlist.fm :

01. If You Want Blood (You've Got It) 02. Back In Black 03. Demon Fire 04. Shot Down In Flames 05. Thunderstruck 06. Have A Drink On Me 07. Hells Bells 08. Shot In The Dark 09. Stiff Upper Lip 10. Let There Be Rock

20. T.N.T. 21. For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)

The "Power Up" European tour marks AC/DC 's first with the band's new touring lineup consisting of singer Brian Johnson , guitarists Angus and Stevie Young , drummer Matt Laug and the latest addition to the group's touring lineup, bassist Chris Chaney .

The 24-date trek will run through August. The trek will hit Germany, Austria and Switzerland before landing at London's Wembley Stadium for a pair of shows on July 3 and 7, then moving on to Germany, Slovakia and Paris and winding down at Croke Park in Dublin, Ireland. The European tour is the first run of gigs since AC/DC 's return to the stage at last year's rock Power Trip festival in Indio, California.

AC/DC 's last tour took place in 2015 and 2016 and had a $180 million gross, with 2,310,061 sold tickets reported to the Pollstar box office.

Laug is an American drummer who has played with many bands/artists such as Alanis Morissette , Alice Cooper , SLASH'S SNAKEPIT and Vasco Rossi . Matt moved to Los Angeles after graduating from South Florence High School in 1986 and after attending college in L.A., Matt became a sought-after studio drummer.

In 2001, Laug supported AC/DC as part of SLASH'S SNAKEPIT on the North American and European legs of the "Stiff Upper Lip" tour.

In its announcement about Laug 's addition to the band's Power Trip lineup, AC/DC offered no explanation for the absence of the band's longtime drummer Phil Rudd , who rejoined AC/DC for the recording of the group's comeback album, "Power Up" , which came out in November 2020.

Rudd was ousted from AC/DC when he was sentenced to eight months of home detention by a New Zealand court in 2015 after pleading guilty to charges of threatening to kill and drug possession. He was replaced on the band's "Rock Or Bust" tour by Chris Slade , who had previously served as AC/DC 's drummer between 1989 and 1994, playing on the album "The Razor's Edge" .

Rudd , who appeared on all but three of AC/DC 's 18 previous studio albums, toured in support of his 2014 solo debut, "Head Job" . It was the release of that album that led indirectly to Rudd 's arrest, with the drummer allegedly so angry at a personal assistant over the way the record was promoted that he threatened to have the man and his daughter killed.

AC/DC postponed the last 10 dates of its spring 2016 North American trek after Johnson was advised to stop playing live or "risk total hearing loss." The band went on to complete the European and North American legs of its "Rock Or Bust" tour with GUNS N' ROSES frontman Axl Rose as a "guest vocalist." At the time, Johnson had been AC/DC 's singer for 36 years, ever since replacing the late Bon Scott in 1980 and making his debut on the classic "Back In Black" album.

To enable him to perform live with AC/DC again, the now-76-year-old Johnson worked with audio expert Stephen Ambrose , who said he could help resolve the singer's hearing problems.

Ambrose , who invented the wireless in-ear monitors that are widely used by touring artists today, claimed to have invented a new type of ear-bud that would allow Johnson to perform without causing further damage to his eardrums. After three years of experimenting and "miniaturizing" the equipment, Johnson previously said the technology could allow him to tour again.

Chaney is best known as the bassist of JANE'S ADDICTION and as a member of Alanis Morissette 's touring and recording band. Chaney was also a member of TAYLOR HAWKINS AND THE COATTAIL RIDERS and CAMP FREDDY , as well as being a prolific and versatile session musician, having played with artists including Joe Cocker , Shakira , Slash and Avril Lavigne to Sara Bareilles , Gavin Degraw , Cher , SHINEDOWN and Celine Dion . Chaney is also a founding member and partner in the all-star supergroup ROYAL MACHINES along with Dave Navarro ( JANE'S ADDICTION ), Mark McGrath ( SUGAR RAY ), Josh Freese ( FOO FIGHTERS ) and Billy Morrison ( BILLY IDOL ).

Bassist Cliff Williams announced his retirement at the end of AC/DC 's 2015-2016 "Rock Or Bust" tour, which also saw Johnson leaving. However, Williams — and Johnson — took part in the recording sessions that resulted in "Power Up" . Both of them were also part of the AC/DC lineup that performed at Power Trip .

During an October 2020 interview with Dean Delray 's "Let There Be Talk" podcast, Cliff was asked if Johnson 's departure from the road was what led to his desire to stop touring. Cliff responded: "It was before then. I spoke to Angus about it initially. I was at a point — and this is at the beginning of the 'Rock Or Bust' tour — that I just felt, for me, it was time to hang it up. I knew that I didn't wanna keep doing these two-year tours, and I didn't wanna hold them back, so I made them aware of the fact that this was gonna be my last go-round. It was a tough tour to finish. God bless Axl for coming in and helping us out, finish it up. He did a great job. And at the end of that, I was definitely — that was it for me. Done — just done. That compounded the whole thing."

According to Williams , he wanted to take part in the recording sessions for "Power Up" as a tribute to Angus 's late brother, founding AC/DC rhythm guitarist Malcolm Young , who died in 2017 from effects of dementia at age 64. Malcolm is credited as a writer on all 12 tracks on "Power Up" .

"If 'Back In Black' has [late AC/DC singer] Bon Scott all over it, for me, 'Power Up' has got Malcolm Young ," Cliff said. "This is for him. And it's the band that we played together with for 40-plus years. And I wanted to do that — I wanted to come back and do that.

"We did some rehearsals earlier [in 2020] before this darn COVID thing popped up, and we had great rehearsals," he continued. "The band was playing really well. So [they asked me], 'Do you wanna do a few shows? 'Sure'. A few shows. We were planning on doing that. Everyone goes home to their respective homes, and bang, we've been here ever since [because of the coronavirus-related shutdown]."

Cliff went on to confirm that his commitment to AC/DC was only for "a few" dates in support of "Power Up" .

"For both [my mental and physical] health," he said. "I definitely have some physical issues, which I won't bore you with the details of. But, yeah, it's tough. I'm very grateful for everything. It's been fantastic. But I just don't wanna do that anymore."

Williams previously revealed that a "terrible" bout with vertigo contributed to his 2016 retirement. He also admitted the return of both Johnson and drummer Phil Rudd convinced him to rejoin the group. "It was like the old band back together," he told Rolling Stone . "It was not like starting over again, but as close to the band that's been together for 40-plus years as we can possibly make it. I didn't want to miss that."

The follow-up to 2014's "Rock Or Bust" , "Power Up" was recorded over a six-week period in August and September 2018 at Warehouse Studios in Vancouver with producer Brendan O'Brien , who also worked 2008's "Black Ice" and "Rock Or Bust" .
