Everything about this experience was meticulously curated. Our comfort, safety, entertainment and education was beautifully orchestrated. An ambitious itinerary that enriched our lives in part by eliminating all tedious aspects of international travel while ensuring we ate and rested well. Until our next trip… thank you TCS

People, Places, Process, Plane

The People, first and foremost, from booking agent to baggage handlers-professionalism, experience and the highest dedication to service. The Places, all bucket list worthy, done like you are a VIP. The Process, seamless transitions every step of the way mean that you can relax and enjoy the travel experience. The Plane, luxury, comfort and efficiency!

Start to finish amazing travel experience!

From the first point of contact with staff to the very last time spent with them and on the trip, I couldn’t have asked for a better travel company and incredible trip around the world. So many special touches, access to sites not available to the general public, all along the way in great hands. I can’t recommend enough TCS for out of this world, all over the world trips!

TCS World Travel

TCS World Travel trip was the trip of a lifetime. We were able to see so many places we would have never been able to visit in one trip or by ourselves. Trip was very well planned. Airplane crew and travel staff were amazing. Aircraft and lodging during trip were the best. Offering many wonderful opportunities.

Efficient luxury travel

TCS allows you to see multiple destinations – many that would be difficult to travel to on your own – in a fast, efficient and comfortable manner. They craft a trip that helps you to sample some of the finest aspects of each location, such as the architecture, the history, the food and other aspects of the local culture. Their staff is kind and goes out of their way to ensure that all the guests are having an excellent experience.

We would give TCS 10 stars if we could!

We would give TCS 10 stars if we could! TCS executed an incredible adventure. Every detail was covered, every lecture was timely and interesting and every detail was perfectly done– even anticipated. This was our first Group Tour after being apprehensive for years. TCS knows how to do everything right.

TCS goes above and beyond

We had a major problem on the first day of our trip when weather prevented landing at our first destination. TCS found us alternate eating arrangements and hotel accomodations and got us a replacement air charter six hours later that allowed us to get to our first tour as scheduled. At the end of our trip TCS got us into the Valley of the Kings in Giza after hours. Forty of us had a private two hour tour of five of the tombs, including King Tut and Ramses. They arranged special activities like this throughout the trip.

A wholly 5 Star experience!

Apart from the wonderful itinerary, fabulous destinations, and first-class ground staff and tour guides at every destination … our trip was made perfect by the really great all round TCS team of extremely knowledgeable, resourceful, helpful and friendly professionals. The same must be said equally of their expedition Doctor, Photographer, Archeologist and Historian, ALSO, equally, the fantastic aircraft pilots and their entire crew from Titan – all BRILLIANT! We were especially lucky, too, in that our trip enjoyed a very cohesive group of guests – everyone got along very well with one another. A real pleasure!

This once-in-a-lifetime trip is the perfect way to spend quality time with your partner or to treat yourself to an adventure you’ll never forget. Adults of all ages take our trips, sometimes with a companion and sometimes by themselves. You will meet fellow guests with a curiosity about the world and come away with unforgettable memories and special friendships. It can also help you memorably mark a special occasion, whether it’s an anniversary, birthday, retirement, honeymoon or other milestone.

The minimum age to take our expeditions is 12, but we will consider younger guests on a case-by-case basis.

Shortly after booking, your guest services manager will email you more details about your trip. This dedicated professional will be your main point of contact. He or she will provide you additional information leading up to your departure and is available to answer any questions via phone or email.

Prior to departure, you will receive a set of amenities for your trip. These may include a wheeled bag, a backpack, packing cubes and other useful travel items.

Our trips are a unique opportunity for like-minded travelers who are interested in learning and exploring to come together. The strong friendships forged on our trips continue long after guests return home and open the door to more travel adventures.

On expeditions with 48 or more travelers, daily activities will be divided into intimate groups of 6 to 12, so you never feel like you’re part of a crowd. On all trips, we offer numerous activity options at each destination such as: guided small-group sightseeing, curated shopping, and exclusive visits to museums and landmarks. Other examples include more active options like hikes or snorkeling, as well as unforgettable moments like an intimate guided exploration of Angkor Wat and our hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti.

TCS World Travel is committed to maintaining the quality and safety of the expedition for all participants. Overall, our trips give you the freedom to set your own pace. Each destination on every itinerary offers a variety of options with different activity levels. In some, you may only be walking for short periods of time and have more downtime between excursions, while in others, you may spend the entire day touring or walking over uneven terrain. You may, of course, choose to have a day off and relax at any location.

On all our expeditions, you can expect the following:

  • Uneven ground/frequent walking up to one mile at any given time
  • Walking up the steps to the jet, as many foreign airports do not have jetways
  • Trip pace—only one to three nights in each stop with some late-night activities and early-morning departures
  • Time zone changes
  • High altitude (some expeditions)
  • Changes to your ‘normal’ routine: unique cuisine, frequent packing/unpacking

We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate participants with special needs; however, we cannot accommodate wheelchairs or walkers. If you require a slower pace, extra assistance, or the use of a cane or walking stick, arrangements can be made for private touring at each destination. Any extra cost for such arrangements will be the responsibility of the participant.

Trip Pace Definitions

These icons refer to the overall pace of the trip and not to specific activities at each destination. For example, an expedition classified as moderate or relaxed in overall pace can still offer active options such as hiking or snorkeling.

  • Active Pace: Almost every day fully scheduled, and/or longer flight durations; expedition crosses multiple time zones
  • Moderate Pace: Downtime opportunities every three or four days, and/or shorter flight durations; crosses fewer time zones
  • Relaxed Pace: Many opportunities for relaxation, and/or three-night minimum stays in most destinations

Destination Safety

Before TCS travels to any destination, we vet it for safety. We and our consultant medical advisors, Dr. Thomas Burke  and the BostonMD team, closely monitor all health situations. We monitor the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), World Health Organization (WHO), the US Department of State, the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office and other third-party destination experts, and are consulting with our trusted local suppliers to evaluate travel to all locations featured on our expeditions.

The beauty of private jet travel is the ease of pivoting. If we need to change an itinerary for any reason, we can use our contacts in countries worldwide to assist us with making alternate arrangements for our group. These changes could be made well in advance of arrival or even while we are in the air en-route to a given location.

On-Trip Resources

On many expeditions, a trip physician will be available to consult with you at your request about general medical health issues such as upper-respiratory infections or gastro-intestinal upsets, which are not uncommon on this type of trip. Should you become seriously ill en route, the trip physician will be able to liaise with local physicians at your request and, if necessary, your medical providers back home, to assist in determining what further care you may require.

On-Trip Activity Level

This is an active program which requires a serious health assessment. There will be walking excursions at nearly every location, and you will need to climb stairs at some of the sites, as well as when you board and disembark the aircraft. There are some airports where you will be responsible for transporting your small wheeled overnight bag. We will have some early-morning departures and late-night activities, and may travel through multiple time zones.

To help counterbalance the carbon footprint that results from flying, starting in 2023 TCS World Travel is investing directly in measurable and meaningful sustainability projects that reduce the amount of carbon emissions in the atmosphere while positively impacting local communities and protecting local biodiversity.

Our luggage allowances are based on the type of aircraft on which the expedition is offered. On the custom Airbus A321, luggage typically is limited to two checked bags: the wheeled bag we mail you and one additional large suitcase of your own. On expeditions on smaller aircraft like the Fokker 70, guests are allowed the wheeled bag we mail you and one additional smaller bag due to weight restrictions. Bags will be stored in the hold of the jet during our flights, but you will be allowed to take your backpack and another small personal item, such as purse or camera bag, along with you in the cabin.

On many trips, a dedicated expedition staff member handles your luggage throughout the journey. In many destinations, our staff will transfer your luggage directly from the plane to your hotel room. In others, you may be required to walk your bags through customs before handing them over to our staff, but we take over from there. Secure vehicles accompanied by a dedicated expedition staff member are used to transfer luggage between the airport and the hotel on arrival and departure. Often times, your bag is in your room by the time you’re checked into the hotel.

We suggest you bring comfortable clothing that can be layered. One of your most important items is a pair of comfortable shoes for walking. Our guests generally dress up a little for the welcome and farewell dinners, but this is their choice and is certainly not required. Also, you will find slightly more formal dining options at many of the hotels where we stay. For this reason, you may want to bring a few nicer outfits. A more detailed packing list with specific clothing recommendations will be sent to you closer to the departure date. While you’re packing, please keep in mind that laundry services are available at most of our hotels. We also recommend you leave extra space in your suitcase to bring home souvenirs of your journey.

TCS World Travel is committed to safeguarding the security of its guests on every expedition. The company has implemented a set of security processes throughout the journey – from before guests depart to when they touch down in a destination. These processes have been fine-tuned over two decades and more than 300 private jet expeditions and thousands of custom trips to help ensure peace of mind for everyone involved.

All guests must have valid passports to participate in this program. Passports must be valid at least six months beyond the end date of your expedition. If visas are required for the expedition, a visa kit will be sent to you approximately between 6 and 3 months prior to departure depending on destination requirements. We work with an expediting service that helps make getting your required visas easier. Although you’re still required to fill out your visa forms and cover the application costs, they will review the application to make sure it’s complete and liaise with the necessary consulates and embassies to process your visas.

We pre-fill your customs and immigrations forms at every stop—all you have to do is sign. Where possible, our guests enjoy special privileges, such as expedited customs and immigration formalities. We may have a dedicated customs counter for our group and are occasionally allowed to go through without individual clearance.

The price of your expedition incorporates large items like the jet, hotels, transportation and meals, but it also includes many other things, such as activities, top-of-the-line guides, private dinners in restaurants, beverages and every single tip (guides, restaurants, hotel staff, drivers, etc.). In addition, we give you some “walking around money” in the local currency at each stop. We also supply you with all the bottled water you can drink all day every day. We even provide you with postcards that we mail for you—all you have to do is write.

Your expedition includes:

  • Travel on a privately chartered jet
  • First-class accommodations
  • Ground transportation
  • All meals and beverages, including select beer, wine and spirits aboard the jet and group lunches and dinners
  • All sightseeing activities, from guided small-group excursions and private shopping to more active options such as snorkeling and hikes
  • Special events and private access
  • Top local guides and/or on-trip experts
  • A veteran expedition team who handles all logistics
  • On some itineraries, a trip physician who accompanies you throughout your journey

Reservation Process

To reserve your place on the Tour, you must complete and sign the Reservation Form and pay your deposit. The deposit can be made by wire transfer or by a major credit card such as American Express, Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card. To cover the cost of processing a credit or charge card transaction, and pursuant to applicable state regulations (including, with respect to Colorado, section 5-2-212, Colorado Revised Statutes), TCS charges a surcharge of 3.0 % for credit card payments. This surcharge is not greater than our merchant discount rate for credit card transactions and does not apply to payment via debit card, ACH or check or redemption of a gift card, or to credit card payments with a billing address in Connecticut, Massachusetts, or Puerto Rico. Your place on the Tour is not reserved until the deposit and signed reservation form are both received.

Cancellation Policy

If you cancel your reservation or change your plans, your right to receive a refund is limited, as set forth in the trip payment schedule. All cancellations will become effective as of the date of the postmark or email receipt. All requests for refunds must be sent to TCS World Travel in writing via mail, fax or email.

If you are traveling solo and prefer the privacy of your own room, you will be charged a solo traveler supplement. This ensures that individual travelers will get the same type and size rooms as our double occupancy travelers.

The Jet tour is operated by TCS World Travel, dedicated to delivering immersive, worry-free travel experiences for the globally curious and modern luxury traveler. The aircraft is operated by Titan Airways, an IOSA-certified airlines with over 30 years of experience in bespoke air charter travel.

We strongly recommend purchasing insurance to protect your travel investment. We offer a best-in-class trip insurance program available exclusively to guests on our group jet expeditions. Our program provides unique benefits that you won’t find anywhere else in the insurance market, including:

  • The ability to purchase the plan and waive pre-existing conditions any time up until final payment
  • COVID-19 coverage, with the option to cancel before your trip departs
  • Flexibility to pay in installments and insure your trip as you go

Our insurance program also includes these additional benefits for your peace of mind:

  • No-risk guarantee allowing you to cancel your plan within 10 days and receive a full refund

Global health institutions like the World Health Organization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are now categorizing COVID-19 as an endemic disease, similar to other infectious diseases we live with daily. In response to this changing global scenario, most countries have now relaxed or dropped their COVID-19 vaccine and testing regulations – so TCS has adapted our policy as well.

  • While we highly recommend that guests be vaccinated, we are no longer requiring vaccines for guests to travel on a TCS group jet expedition, unless it is required by one of the destinations on the program.
  • There will no longer be required testing for COVID-19 either prior to trip start, at trip start or during your journey, unless it is required by one of the destinations on the program or recommended by the trip physician for treatment support.
  • We will ask any guests who are exhibiting symptoms of illnesses (such as colds or flu) to mask when they are around other guests, helping to reduce transmission and ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. We look forward to embarking on an extraordinary journey together as travel gradually returns to normal. Please reach out if you have any questions.

"WOW! Awesome trip! We went on the Wilderness Tour (longest one) and had such a great time! Brandon was our Skipper and did a great job navigating the rapids and providing numerous 360 degree spins. HIGHLY recommend this if you're in the area. We did not come here to do this, just to relax for a few days in the RV, but locals said, "Ya gotta do a jet boat" so sure glad we did!"

"We had a great morning cruising up the Rogue River from Gold Beach. Our captain Kevin was very entertaining and kept us laughing while he repeatedly soaked us with his maneuvers. It was a non-strenuous very memorable time. We saw many bald eagles, a bear and river otter. I recommend it as something all age's would enjoy."

"Weather was perfect all day. Our boat Captain Brandon was very knowledgeable and gave great answers along the entire trip. Saw some wildlife, wished for more but maybe on the next trip. First mate Andy did a great job, very curtious, and helpful! Would highly recommend this trip for the entire family. We stopped half way and ate lunch in Agness . Great food and drinks!"

Delta Cancels More Flights as It Struggles to Recover From Tech Outage

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg singled out the airline on Sunday for ongoing disruptions and “unacceptable” customer service as it continued to cancel flights.

Crowds of people waiting in a line at an airport.

By Christine Chung and Yan Zhuang

Three days after planes around the world were grounded by a technology outage , Delta Air Lines was struggling to get stranded passengers to their destinations on Monday and was the only carrier still canceling hundreds of flights as it raced to update its systems.

The company’s performance was much worse than other large U.S. air carriers like American Airlines and United Airlines, which were operating with few cancellations, and appeared to stem from decisions it made when its systems first went down, analysts said.

The secretary of transportation, Pete Buttigieg, singled out Delta on Sunday for its slow recovery and said that his office had received numerous complaints about Delta’s customer service. He warned that the carrier must provide its customers with adequate assistance and refunds. Delta canceled about 1,300 flights on Sunday, roughly the same number as each of the previous two days, and delayed another 1,600, according to the flight tracking website FlightAware. The cancellations represented about a third of the airline’s scheduled flights.

Delta’s cancellations on Monday — 815 as of 3 p.m. Eastern time — accounted for about 21 percent of its scheduled departures, according to FlightAware. Another 34 percent of its flights were delayed.

The tech outage on Friday hit airlines especially hard. A flawed update from CrowdStrike, whose software is used around the world, forced Delta, Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Spirit Airlines and United Airlines to ground flights.

Delta has been the slowest to restore its operations. American and United had canceled fewer than 50 flights each as of noon on Monday, according to FlightAware.

Aviation experts said that Delta’s strategy in the wake of the software outages differed from that of other major U.S. airlines. Rather than leaning more heavily on delays, the airline canceled many flights. It now appears to be having trouble getting its operations back to normal and rebooking passengers who were stranded in the last three days, said Robert W. Mann Jr., an aviation analyst.

Airlines like Delta now “will have to find open seats on already heavily booked flights to reaccommodate hundreds of thousands of distressed customers whose peak-season flights were canceled,” Mr. Mann said.

Another thing working against Delta is that its main hub, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, is the busiest airport in the world . Social media sites have been filled with photographs and videos of chaotic scenes and long lines at the airline’s counters there over the weekend.

“Typically, this gives Delta tremendous advantages,” said Michael McCormick, a former Federal Aviation Administration control tower operator and an assistant professor of aviation science at Embry-Riddle University in Daytona Beach, Fla., referring to the Atlanta airport. “However, it also means that the myriad of connections and associated logistics must run smoothly. The loss of automation meant that it all fell apart.”

The outage, which disrupted devices that run Microsoft Windows software, took a heavy toll on a Delta system that “ensures all flights have a full crew in the right place at the right time,” the airline said in a statement on Monday. The company said the system was “deeply complex and is requiring the most time and manual support to synchronize.”

More than half of Delta’s information technology systems rely on Windows, the airline said.

“We’ve got everyone around the company working around the clock to get this operation where it needs to be,” Delta’s chief executive, Ed Bastian, said on a video message to employees on Monday.

Software that helps airlines schedule and track their pilots and flight attendants can become an Achilles’ heel for companies trying to recover from major disruptions to their operations.

A few days before Christmas in 2022, winter storms severely hampered several U.S. carriers, but the problems were most acute at Southwest Airlines, which lacked the equipment to cope with the weather. In addition, a system the company used to match crews to flights could not keep up with a very large number of changes, forcing it, at one point, to manually reschedule pilots and flight attendants.

Southwest canceled nearly 17,000 flights — more than a third of those scheduled — over the last 10 days of that year. That episode cost the company more than $1 billion and severely damaged its reputation for efficiency.

Delta appears to be faring better than Southwest, but its elevated cancellations and delays raises questions about why the airline has struggled so much more than others. Delta has marketed itself as a premium airline, and it has widely been considered by Wall Street analysts as one of the best run companies in the industry.

Delta is offering travel waivers to all customers booked on flights between Friday and Tuesday, allowing them to change their flights once without cost. The airline said it was offering meal vouchers, hotel accommodation and transportation where available.

But some passengers said that Delta did not provide them hotel rooms when their flights were canceled, leaving people to make their own arrangements or sleep at airport terminals.

Mr. Buttigieg said in a social media post on Sunday night that the Department of Transportation had received hundreds of complaints about the airline. Delta must provide prompt refunds to customers who do not want rebooked flights and timely reimbursements for food and hotel stays for those affected by the delays, he said.

“No one should be stranded at an airport overnight or stuck on hold for hours waiting to talk to a customer service agent,” Mr. Buttigieg said, adding that customers should report airlines that fail to honor their customer service requirements to the agency .

Airlines initially treated the outage as something that was inherently outside their control, for which their only obligation to passengers was free rebookings. However, the Transportation Department said on Friday that the software outage was considered within airlines’ control and that U.S.-based airlines must provide affected customers compensation for flight disruptions.

Delta was also seemingly the only airline to prohibit unaccompanied minors from flying on its planes throughout the weekend. The restriction, originally supposed to last until Sunday, was extended through Tuesday.

A company spokesman did not respond to questions about how many unaccompanied children were affected by this policy and why Delta blocked them from traveling on its flights until Tuesday.

Kate Stowe’s daughter, Annabel, 11, was supposed to fly solo on Sunday morning from St. Louis to Minneapolis, bound for summer camp in northern Minnesota. But a day before the flight, Delta alerted the family that Annabel would not be allowed to fly by herself, leaving Ms. Stowe and her husband, Derick, to frantically figure out an alternative solution. Another round trip ticket would have cost $1,000 and Delta offered no travel credit or other assistance, Ms. Stowe said. In addition, there were no seats available on flights back to Missouri on Delta or Southwest.

They ultimately found another flight home for Mr. Stowe, who chaperoned Annabel to Minneapolis, on Sun Country Airlines. In all, they paid an extra $700 for his unexpected trip.

“Since the F.A.A. ruled this a ‘controllable’ event, how can Delta get away with doing nothing for families?” Ms. Stowe said. “How many other kids are missing time at camp or visits with family right now?”

Annabel’s flight to Minneapolis, surprisingly, left on time.

2,600+ US flights canceled: United, American Airlines resume service after global outage

  • A global IT outage caused delays and cancellations for air passengers around the world.
  • Several U.S. carriers, including American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines, issued ground stops for all their flights early on Friday due to communication problems.
  • The aviation sector is hit particularly hard due to its sensitivity to timings.

William Sikora III was supposed to fly from Philadelphia to Detroit on Friday morning.

“We are stuck at this airport,” he posted in a video on X at 6 a.m., zooming in on blue airport screens showing system errors. “United, Delta, America, all this stuff is down. People are just sitting here. The apps still say our flight’s on time because they can’t update information in the apps.”

Air passengers around the world faced delays, cancellations and problems checking in as airports and airlines were caught up in a  massive IT outage  that also affected industries ranging from banks to media companies.

Several U.S. carriers, including American Airlines, United Airlines, and Delta Air Lines, issued ground stops for all their flights early on Friday due to communication problems, according to the Federal Aviation Administration.

There were over 2,600 flights canceled and nearly 9,200 delays as of 5 p.m. ET, according to flight-tracking website FlightAware . Most airlines were able to resume operations as the morning progressed, but many said they expected disruptions to continue throughout the day.

More on the outage: Global tech outage grounds flights, hits banks and media businesses

Megan Brown said Washington Dulles Airport was surprisingly calm, even as the airline industry was in turmoil. She said the airport was less crowded than usual, making for a quicker-than-expected security screening, and passengers seemed understanding about the disruptions.

"We just took the gamble and came here, and hopefully we’ll leave today,” Brown told USA TODAY by phone from Dulles. “There’s nothing you can do.”

Her family's 8:25 a.m. ET flight to San Francisco was delayed, but they were able to take off within a couple of hours. "A cheer just erupted as the gate agent said we are going to start boarding," she said.

Around the world, airports and airlines advised customers to arrive earlier than normal for flights.

Around 9 a.m. Sikora posted another video showing fellow travelers sitting on the floor and standing in the middle of a crowded Philadelphia International Airport terminal.

“Everyone is in the same boat. Just wandering and sitting,” he told USA TODAY.

Issues online: Instagram may be the best social app to get your flight issues fixed. Here's why.

The cybersecurity firm Crowdstrike blamed the global tech outage on a defect in an update for Microsoft Windows hosts.

“Today was not a security or cyber incident. Our customers remain fully protected," Crowdstrike CEO George Kurtz posted on X . "We understand the gravity of the situation and are deeply sorry for the inconvenience and disruption. We are working with all impacted customers to ensure that systems are back up and they can deliver the services their customers are counting on. As noted earlier , the issue has been identified and a fix has been deployed. There was an issue with a Falcon content update for Windows Hosts."

The aviation sector was hit particularly hard due to its sensitivity to timings. Airlines rely on a closely coordinated schedule often run by air traffic control. Just one delay of a few minutes can throw off a flight schedule for take-offs and landings for an airport and airline for the rest of the day.

"The issue affected many separate systems, such as those used for calculating aircraft weight, checking in customers, and phone systems in our call centers," United Airlines said in a statement. "After pausing all departures overnight, flights resumed on Friday morning and we are working diligently to get our customers to their destinations."

Story continues below.

Are flights still grounded? How long will flight delays last?

"Ground stops and delays will be intermittent at various airports as the airlines work through residual technology issues," the FAA said, adding that it's working closely with airlines to resume normal operations.

Travelers are advised to contact their airlines and monitor the FAA's website for the latest information.

How to find the reason for flight delay

Customers can ask airlines why their flight is canceled or delayed, but the Department of Transportation confirmed that it considers the delays and cancellations caused by Friday's IT outage to be "controllable" by the airlines. While airlines may say they didn't cause the computer error, it means that the DOT will hold them responsible for upholding the commitments they've made to customers when it comes to policies like rebooking or hotel and meal vouchers as the mess gets sorted out. Every airline's policy is outlined on the DOT customer service dashboard.

The Bureau of Transportation Statistics also tracks causes of delays and cancellations.

Airline waivers

Airlines are doing what they can to provide extra flexibility to those affected by the outage.

  • American issued a waiver for affected travelers covering all of its U.S. hubs.
  • Delta issued a waiver allowing all passengers traveling Friday to rebook their flights.
  • Frontier issued a waiver offering rebooking for travelers whose flights were delayed by more than 3 hours. Customers whose flights were canceled may opt for a refund or credit toward future travel.
  • United issued a waiver for select airports so passengers can make changes if their flights are affected, though a United spokesperson told USA TODAY that nearly all of the airline's flights depart or arrive in one of the airports covered by the waiver.
  • Spirit issued a waiver allowing customers who are booked to fly Friday or Saturday through any airport in its network to change their flights at no additional charge.

What happens if my flight is canceled?

Department of Transportation rules  require all airlines to offer customers a refund if their flights are canceled for any reason, but customers may be entitled to additional compensation if a cancellation is within the airline's control.

What should I do if my flight is delayed?

If your flight is experiencing a long delay, the Transportation Department suggests asking airline staff if they will pay for meals or a hotel room.

The DOT dashboard reflects airlines' official policies, but many carriers handle compensation for delays on a case-by-case basis and may provide vouchers or other benefits in some situations that are not formally covered.

What is considered a significant flight delay?

Each airline defines significant delays differently, but the DOT's dashboard identifies which airlines provide compensation for controllable delays of 3 or more hours.

For instance, all major U.S. carriers are supposed to provide a meal voucher for flights delayed by at least 3 hours for reasons within their control. Additionally, Alaska, JetBlue and Southwest offer credit or a travel voucher when a controllable delay "results in passenger waiting for 3 hours or more from the scheduled departure time," according to the dashboard.

How to file compensation for a delayed flight

Travelers seeking monetary compensation for delayed flights should file a claim with their respective airlines. Passengers seeking other types of compensation, like frequent flyer miles, may be able to request those through the airline's customer service.

During a performance in Sydney on Sunday, Gass was asked to make a wish by his co-frontman, replying “Don’t miss Trump next time”. The jibe has attracted plenty of criticism, with an Australian senator demanding the comedy-rock   band be deported.

Gass himself took to instagram today to apologize for making the remark: “The line I improvised onstage Sunday night in Sydney was highly inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake. I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I profoundly apologize to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.” However, the actor and performer was subsequently dropped by his rep Greene Talent.

The duo had another week of gigs in Australia and then were due to head to New Zealand. The show’s local promoter initially posted that tonight’s show was postponed but Black subsequently issued the above statement about the tour’s entire cancellation.

Tenacious D was also due to begin a U.S. tour in October with a sold-out show in newly minted GOP VP pick Sen. J.D. Vance’s state of Ohio. That is now also seemingly on ice.

We’re told by a source that information on “remaining tour dates and refunds will be provided at a later date.”

Elon Musk is cloaking his jet travels again

  • Elon Musk resumed using a government program to hide his private jet travels in June.
  • A special FAA privacy program allows private planes to fly incognito with temporary IDs.
  • Musk had briefly used the program in 2022.

Insider Today

Two years after appearing to give up on hiding his private jet travels , Elon Musk has once again taken steps to keep his travel history private.

According to data from the flight-tracking site JetSpy , the billionaire started using a government program designed to allow aircraft to fly incognito in late June.

His jet, a Gulfstream G650ER , has been on 14 different flights since the, JetSpy data shows.

Musk first signed up for the free "privacy ICAO aircraft address" program, also known as PIA, through the Federal Aviation Administration in 2022, but hadn't used it since August 20, 2022.

The special program allows private jet owners to fly cloak their travels using a temporary aircraft registration number. In 2022, Musk applied for a new aircraft registration number four times, JetSpy told Business Insider.

The FAA first launched PIA in 2019. Last year, the FAA told BI it had about 390 alternate ID codes since the program began.

A representative for Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Mark Dombroff, a partner and aviation attorney at Fox Rothschild LLP and a former FAA lawyer, told Business Insider that it's unclear why Musk would begin using the program again, as the FAA has yet to make any apparent changes to it that could further benefit Musk.

Jet-tracking personality Jack Sweeney was the first to point out Musk's new PIA. The college student, who gained popularity for his social media accounts that track celebrities , including Musk and Taylor Swift, pointed out that Musk's team appeared to face some hiccups using the program.

This recent implementation of PIA exposed its identity immediately. The PIA ICAO code was installed, but they then proceeded to broadcast N628TS as the callsign with the PIA then switch to a third party callsign. — Jack Sweeney (@Jxck_Sweeney) July 1, 2024

The PIA program is far from perfect. According to the FAA, it allows aircraft owners to switch out their registration numbers every 20 days, but it can be a laborious process .

Related stories

Christian Renneissen, Collins Aerospace's manager for flight deck connectivity, previously told the trade publication AV Buyer that while the PIA program is essentially free, it's a hassle due to a substantial amount of paperwork. What's more, the entire process would have to start all over again if the new registration number is exposed and tied to the owner.

Planes are also required to ditch the PIA for their permanently assigned ICAO address when they fly internationally.

"The PIA program limits the ability to identify an aircraft in real-time using inexpensive, commercially available receivers," an FAA spokesperson previously told BI. "This does not prevent parties from using alternative methods (plane spotting, movement correlations, etc.) to identify PIA participants."

However, growing security concerns from the likes of Musk and Swift prompted the FAA to further its camouflage efforts , thanks to new language in the FAA Reauthorization passed in May. This includes adding PIA protections for international flights, among other privacy enhancements.

But it's still likely not enough to fully block private planes from the public view. Sweeney previously told BI that celebrity private aircraft can still be spotted using context clues, such as the airports their jets commonly fly from.
